Very good quality, yet don't forget to turn "Cabinet Modeling On". BEFORE plugin bass in, press and hold "drumms" button. When on display reads "Cabinet modeling on" release "drumms" button. Now you can really hear the difference on sound!!!

I play mostly covers, so i need A LOT of different bass setups, sounds and stuff. It's easier to use it then to use 7 different pedals, and every third song you'll have to bend over and fiddle with pedals...
Played it on Yamaha BB615 throug Laney RB9 or Ibanez SoundWave 60. Did ok. Yet again YOU HAVE TO TURN ON CABINET MODELING.
For the price it offers quite a lot. Would by it again.
Presets are somewhat lousy, but then again you are trying to make your own sound, right? It could give more freedom for effect modeling but for the price - unmatchable.
Compared it to ZOOM and Line 6 products. I like digitech.
Wish it had expression pedal, but then it would be BP80, right? :)

Little tricky at first, but then get used to it. It could have some button more.
Drum machine volume always resets when turn off. This is anoying if you use it. Oh yea, and where is the TURN OFF button?
Plastic, made in china.

Amp models are good, but what's the point for bass guitar?
I use it only for computer recordings. No noise. I don't use any of it's effects.
Somebody wrote that tuner is off. But I also compared to my yamaha YT-250 tuner and both are completely the same.

Though the presets give a good indication of what the BP-50 can do, you really need to spend time fiddling with all the effects and modeling. I've had this thing for months and am just now getting all my custom presets down. The manual is useful, it just takes time to get to know the machine.

I play a Ibanez Iceman through a Peavy TKO. The BP-50 seems to work well with this setup. No real noise issues, accept for some of the more crazy factory presets. The chorus is good, the compression is good, the flange is good...it just takes time to dial in your sounds and get them saved. Our band plays original music: '70's inspired hard and progressive rock. I've been listening to Isis lately, and the BP-50 can certainly get some of the flanged out tones of that band. I really feel I havent really but this thing through all its' paces.

I had been playing through our guitarist Roland Cube bass amp and got used to all the built-in effects, especially the compression. When I had to dig out my old Peavy, I wanted to have the same kind of effects. The BP-50 has been just what I needed. The tuner is great, the chorus and compression work just fine, and there is much more it can do...it just takes time. It will take weeks just to get your own presets just right...lots of button pressing. For the money (which was a factor) the BP-50 is a very good deal.

The sound of this device depends. I give it a 40/60. Some of the effects are alright and some are horrible. The chorus and reverb is good. The delay is okay. Some of the amp modeling is good too. This device can make cool sound effects.
The manual is easy to read.
The pedal is somewhat difficult to setup.
The drum machine is useful.

The chorus and reverb can be tweaked. The fuzz sampling is cheap sounding. The wah effect is usless. The delay is alright. You can work with it and make it sound good.
There are several effects under chorus; envolope filter, flanger, etc. They can be tweaked with the reverb and you can get a decent sound.

I play jazz, folk, country, and rock. It works good to make some neat sounds.
If it were stolen I would look at other effects.
I like the drum loops. Good to practice with.
Good for the price I paid. If want to mess around and see what effects you like you may want to try this pedal.

I use an Ampeg B2 15'' combo with a epiphone trigger 4x12 and danelectro nifty seventy. it is not noisy thanks to the noise gate feature. I think the effects sound full. I can get the sound i want with this pedal. I love the synth distortion and big muff pi w/ church reverb sounds.

is similar to other effect rack but has few button and no knobs, so is a little bit more difficult to use than zoom b2 or boss ME50B
Default effect patches are no good, so you have to work a lot to modify them

great noise, no noise reduction, ampli emulation is ridicoulous (zoom b2 is another planet), defretter sound seems Atari donkykong, limiter-compressor suck, only usable are chorus, distorsion and equalization. Tuner is not accurate (in comparison to my yamaha and to my ear), drum machine is very limited but like metronome is good.

Overall I have given it back to the shop for a boss compressor.

A bad product, bad materials, bad sounds, a lot of noise.
I play 15 years, I have tried with my jazz deluxe and peavy TNT, why to have this beautifull instruments and to ruin them?
It seems a '80 effects collection. Don't buy it.

This is definitely a "niche" product and whether or not you get a good sound out of it depends on what you define as a good sound.
But it is not easy to use. It is not intuitive and do not lose the instruction manual. It will be impossible to figure out what settings you are using without the manual I am a computer programmer in my day job, and after a year of ownership, the BP50 still gives me a run for the money.

As I mentioned before, good sound is entirely subjective. I use this for direct recording into my PC. I am experimenting with electronic music as a background for spoken word poetry. As far as sound, if you have never heard of groups like Throbbing Gristle, Navicon Torture Technologies or Skinny Puppy, then you probably will not like what this pedal can provide.
It is definitely not the best choice for straight-ahead rock, blues or more traditional types of music, either in a live gig or recording. There are many pedals you can use for DI that sound far better. But if you are familiar with the groups I have mentioned, like that sound and seek to come up with your own peculiar and unique sonic stew, I would recommend checking this thing out.

I do not gig so I am probably not the best person to address that concern. But it is over a year old and works fine for what it does.

I make music as a hobby only and split my time between making punk-oriented recordings and more experimental noise that might generally fall under the Industrial category. I have a Michael Tobias 4-string bass and record into an M-Audio sound card.
I have been playing and hobbying for nearly 40 years so I am no kid. I kind of like mentioning bands that 20-somehtings have never heard of. It definitely helps with the experimental music I record because you just aren't going to find other sounds quite like it. At least not for the $40 or $50 bucks.
So if you realize it is not at all good for live playing but want some truly unearthly bass sounds, give it a try. What the heck, plug your Les Paul into it too, and see what happens.
For punk sounds, the Soldano emulating on the Behringer Bass VAmp is is surprisingly good, but that is another review I suppose.

i agree that for gigs this probably isnt a good choice. I also agree that compared to other Bass amp modellers it may not be the best out there - but i tell ya!! = i have got some of my most favourite and best sounding tones from this pedal using it for DI PC recording = when i was listening to it i wasnt impressed, in fact i thought it was such a toy i traded it in months ago. but im sitting here listening to WAV files i made using it, and the recorded tones blow away the ones ive laid down with my new equipment.
seriously = if you want cool recorded bass tones and have no money = this thing is worth purchasing!

Multi effects really suck.
No freedom. You are stuck with your lame presets. Clubs/ rooms all sound different. You can't simply bend over and add a touch more bass, chorus, etc. You have to scroll thru endless menus with cheap buttons.
This thing eats your sound too.
Only usefull for creating wierd sounds.
Not for pros unless you are electro avant guard guy.
Good for a laugh or if you are new to FX. You get a general idea of how pedals are might sound. But really, this is a toy.
