This is not a plug in and play pedal, it takes a little tweaking to find what you want in the way of a Chorus ranging from, mild, transparent, bold, deep, full vibrant, it's all in here. This is Digital model pedal that approximates 7 different types of chorus effects and it does them pretty damn good.
Those looking for exact copies perhaps do not realize the nature of digital modeling. One needs to think of a digital sound curve as a series of tiny, tiny micro steps which are notching around the analog frequency curve, the quantizing is in the tens of thousands and the notches very, very small. Still none the less, a tiny bit of the sound curve is nicked by each little micro step and this accounts for the warmth of the analog and the brittle sharpness of the digital. Each has its benefits, digital brings prestine sound quality and frequency response. Your cell phone is an example of how much better digital is for signal carry. Analog phones are **** in comparision. Still digital has a precise staleness or brittleness, you can hear it in echos and such, and here in the chorus as well, so do not expect digital to exactly bring you analog warmth.
Some things can be done for the digital issue to warm it up such as typically going through a tube amp circuit as well as various filters and caps in the circuit. That being said. It's not hard for use pedal peaople to add whatever something needs to enhance the tone, its all about the tone.

Digitech is Digitech and their pedals are well designed and musical. Digital has its benefits and shortcomings as well as analog signals. One has to adjust to get the right tones. I find this chorus unit capable of delivering just about any type of chorus effect satisfying enough to get the job done and a proper mimic of what it states. The sound quality is digital and no problem really. Mix in more dry signal to round it out to taste. There are 7 models here: Digitech's MultiChorus, Voodoo Lab's, TC Electronics, Fulltone's Choral Flange, Boss Super Chorus, Electro Harmonix Small Clone and the Boss CE-5. The head room intensity is not analog so do not expect it. The sound quality is noiseless and clean responding to what you dial in. I find the Choral Flange my fav set to deep full chorus with little to no Delay setting. It sounds like the Fulltone and certainly good enough for the cost not to worry about it.
I like switching from the same settings on the Choral Flange to the CE-5 for a milder effect. I think each setting can be adjusted to tweak in some great tones and each model does a fair job of bringing you the unit it states. Obviously you cannnot compare side by side each unit with no difference, this is $100 chorus unit and I am well satisfied with Digitech's quality. It brings what it claims some people just need to learn how to read manuals and figure out what you are doing. There are 7 controls here for each Chorus model. I was able to get what I wanted going for the deep width slow chorus I like. I found by just changing the models with my settings was enough to give me differing chorus effects suitable for any use.
I just redid my effect line, retiring some of my older pedals for better bypass and better technology.
I play Carvin guitars, a DC-135 strat designed with dual rail single coils mohogany and a maple neck, very great sounding strat. Also a DC-400 Carvin with humbucklers both guitars custon made for my playing requirements and tones. Amazing quality stuff here.
My amp in line is: Digitech Synth Wah, Vai Wah, Keeley Modified DS-1, Fulltone OCD, Keeley Modified MT-2, Loop Station into Carvin's V3 head with a 4x12 cab, pure tone, sounds amazing for any type of music one has a mind to create. Loop 1 is Voodoo Lab's Micro Vibe, the Digitech CF-7 Chorus factory, and a Boss DL-5 DDl, loop 1 goes into a BBE sonic maximizer set on slight enhancement. Loop 2 is a parrallel loop I have set up for another clean boost with the BBE 462 other channel on it. Both BEE's together work fine with no issues. There's just enough there to clarify the the sound a little. I get an absolutely killer Floyd Crazy Diamond tone by using the Micro Vibe into the Fulltone Chorus model. It rounds out the Vibe effect slightly and combines to bring a really album sounding tonal warble that is highly musical.

Right out fo the box this unit is impressive, it's heavy, and one get's the idea this is packed full of the best ADA processor chips to be found, Digitech's audio DNA2 DSP chip. This is the heaviest pedal in my line and it just has a sense of quality about it. Boss units seem like a toy next to the X series. I like Digitech. I had a Whammy before anyone knew what they were and I am seriously after watching Gilmour's divine use of the pedal recently on his new CD a touch of heaven and finese. Check out the live DVD. I have never had a problem with Digitech. Always first rate quality from their RP processore units to this wonderful X series. I only wish I could handle a 2nd amp right now to go back to stereo I am sure the sound would open up considerably. Digietch is top notch I do not understand why other crap gets rated so high when a lot of it is cheap fragile crap compared to the quality seen here. I spent a lot of time looking for a chorus pedal again and the CF-7 I feel was a great choice and the price is so low for what this brings to the table, I highly recommend it.

I require my entire chain works in harmony and short of having the MT-2 on with the the other overdrives everything can be all on or all off and anything in between functions well. The CF-7 is a good unit might be a bit much for a inexperienced player to dial in and adjust because you have 7 controls. It took me about 10 minutes to get some great tones and I am sure I could play with the weirdness of the Small Stone and differing flange settings all day getting different sounds. I like Digitech and this is a great pedal I am well pleased with it and having all these models to mess with is rather cool. I wanted the Fulltone but this was money well spent and the options are certainly there for other settings.
