Ease of Use : 10
Very easy.
The manual is just simple and plain, nothing more.

Sound Quality : 10
I got this one just yesterday. When I tried this one with Line 6 Spider III 75 in the local music store, I did not impressed.
I bought it because...
1) I am a huge EC fan.
2) and unfortunately, this is a discontinued model. You can not buy this as a new one.
Today, I plugged it with my Hiwatt Hi-Gain 50 head... I was shocked.
It sounds really, really good with my EJ strat, Legacy which all have single coil PUs.
It has the "click noise". With single coil PU, it is noisy.
The 'Layla unplugged' model is noisy...
But model number 1,2,4 are so cool.
I have a bunch of great pedals in my arsenal.
Fulltone OCD, G2D Morpheus, TC Electronic VPD-1, ZVEX BOM, etc...
But this EC Crossroads pedal really works great with a single coil PUs.
If you have a nice tube amp and a huge fan of EC, try this one.
And if you don't, you will be disappointed like other users.
In a nutshell, the great sounds' made by your hands, a great guitar, and great amp...
Other stuffs are kinda complements.

Reliability : 10
It seems pretty tough.
And the battery compartment is very nice.
I think it is way better and easier than the Boss type.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I play this for playing blues, blues rock, or something like EC kind music.
But this one has enough gain for other kind of music.
So this is a very versatile pedal.
And it comes with a nice package. (AC adaptor, flat pick, pouch.)
So I give 10!

I do not find this pedal very user friendly at all. It is next to impossible to feel the "click" when you are turning the knob to another function or "model". Also, three of the titles of the knobs are completely useless, Control 1, Control2, Model.

The manual is rather confusing. All in all, not a user friendly pedal.

Sound Quality : 3
I really can't find a good sound ANYWHERE on this pedal. I bought it mostly for the "Leslie" speaker sound on Badge. This pedal gets closer than most other pedals to that sound, but there is always way too much distortion integrated into the sound.

The acoustic simulator is average at best. When you pick the low E & A strings, the signal just booms and distorts horribly. You can really only play the bottom 4 high strings on a electric guitar without getting horrible distortion on it. And the sound is VERY artificial, at least to me.

The other overdrive and distortion effect settings are useless. You can get WAY better quality overdrive and distortion out of just about any other multi effects pedal out there. I know I've heard better overdrive and distorion on Zoom multi effects pedals. Oddly, there are better sounding overdrives and distortions on even the cheaper DigiTech multi effects pedals. Why they couldn't put better ones in this pedal is beyond me. DigiTech sacrificed quality trying to sound like signature Clapton tones.

Reliability : 3
It's a metal box and metal jacks. The knobs are kind of flimsy and will probably wear out and break under any regular daily use.

I would advise against gigging this pedal with backup. You may well regret that.

Overall Rating : 3
This pedal is definitely a non-essential pedal. You can EASILY do without it. The best sound it produces, and it doesn't even do that all that well, is the Leslie sound from Badge. How often do you really need this effect, anyway? I can think of 4 rock songs that require this sound: Badge-Cream; It Don't Come Easy-Ringo Starr; No Mater What -Badfinger; and a small passage in Time For Me To Fly by REO.

This pedal attempts to be a multi effects pedal, and offers allegedly custom artist (Clapton) sounds. Clapton doesn't use this pedal himself, and he'd never sound like Clapton if he did. He uses the REAL THING, that this pedal only attempts to emulate.

I STRONGLY recommend you try this at a music store before you buy it. I bought mine used from a music store via Amazon for $50.00, and would have passed on it if I'd had the chance to demo it in person. It really doesn't sound good enough to waste $100.00. Save you money and buy some other pedal that offers something you can use.

This is really great stuff. It is very easy to get a good sound out of this pedal; only four switches, so how difficult can it be? The manual is very clear and it's fun to read even if you're not a Clapton fan.

Sound Quality : 9
I have an Epiphone Lucille and a Hamer Strat. I use an Epiphone Junior Valve at home, and then I switch between the different sounds, and, honoustly, they always sound great. One thing though, don't use the reverb on your amp because if reverb is required it's already there. I love the "Reptile" (that's so inspiring)and the "electric Layla" sounds (steamy sweaty blues-rock solo sound). When I practice with my band I use an 80 watt Marshall Valvestate. Setting number 4 (Electric Layla) has become my standard solo sound, with the distortion on 2 o'clock and the tone at 10 o'clock it's absolutely perfect. Number 3 comes in handy when we play Tom Petty's "Down South"; then the rotary switch is set at 3 o'clock. Brilliant. For rhythm guitar I use a Boss FDR1 and the clean sound of my amps.

Reliability : 10
Hey, it's Digitech. Never failed me.

I play in a cover band and have been playing for 25 odd years. We are no EC-cover band we mainly play americana. Although we only have one EC-song on our setlist, I use this pedal in practically 90% of the songs and "4" is my main solo-sound. The "Layla accoustic" setting (if you want an accoustic guitar sound buy an accoustic guitar) and the "sunshine" feature are the two sounds I hardly use. I own a digitech multi effect processor which is practically redundant since I bought this crossroads pedal. It's so easy to use and so versatile.

Very easy to use. Has seven selectable models and two two tone controls with level\volume. To me best place to start is with all knobs pointing straight up so that made it easy to get the sound i like to use and the other options are nice too.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a telecaster and a strat. and play though a tube amp. Just basically use it quite often and is my favorite distortion pedal for nice warm tone. I have tried and own a few other pedals that would be considered similar and this is first one i go to.

Reliability : 10
Had it for a few years and no problems.

I hate to give all 10s but really there is nothing not to like about it. Having logical expectations, it is a Clapton type tone pedal so goes without saying what type of sounds to expect.

Very easy to use and great sound

Sound Quality : 9
Sound quality excellent, no noise, easy to tweak the sound
The "Layla" model (not the unplugged version) is one of the best sounding overdrive/distortion sounds I've ever used.
I use it with a ElectroPlex Rocket 50/Acoustic 124 combination, great sound.

Great construction, typical Digi stomp box design/construction, built like a tank.

I've dealt with DigiTech in the past they are a great company

Play rock, jazz, blues, country, bluegrass. Played for 38 years, have tons of gear. I bought this pedal off eBay because it was recently discontinued. If it were lost or stolen I'd search far and wide to find another one. Great pedal/modeling design.

Four knobs - level, two that are specific to the model selected and the model selector itself. Plug in, set eveything to 12 o'clock and then tweak the controls until happy. It's a standard stompbox, treat it like a distortion effect and you'll be fine.

Sound Quality : 8
I generally play this with a Maton MS500 equipped with Seymour Duncan P90's into a Kustom KGA-65 acoustic amp. The Maton's strung with 0.11's and is a bluesy sounding guitar anyway, and the KGA's got a great clean channel that takes amp models and warms them up so I think this contributes to my results. I think a lot of people get bad results with digital modellers because they are trying to run them in front of an amp that already has a distinctive tone, the acoustic amp is about as flat toned as possible, all it does is take the model and the cab emulation and warms it up a bit. If you're finding that you dont like the results you're getting, stick a pair of headphones into the mixer output and listen to it there, you might find you hear a very different sound.
I'm not Clapton sadly, and I don't have truckloads of expensive gear being played at stadium volume. That said, I can get a pretty convincing clone of his sound with this pedal for a lot less cash. There's no model I hate, the first and the last are a little better than the rest but all are really usable. It's not analog, so you might want to put a Boss Blues Driver or one of the Danelectro CTO's in front of it to make it a little more reactive to your playing.
The secondary standout for me is the acoustic modeller. I'm not generally a fan of them but this really does sound good. It breaks up a little if you strum too hard but for light strumming and single note work it's really authentic. It's got a tight, compressed sound that makes you start playing like you have an acoustic in your hands. I've got a Boss AC-2 and a Behringer Acoustic Modeller to compare it too, as well as a decent electro-acoustic and I really am pleased with this model.
Overall, it's a solid addition to your pedalboard if you like Clapton or just bluesy guitar tones.

i use a fender deluxe reverb ri with some mods done to it, with an esp viper with emg's. unfortunately, i think this pedal has gotten a bad rap on some of these reviews. i feel some people noodled around with this in the store, never owned it, and proceeded to write a review. i've had this for just about 2 years, has never failed on me.

for me, the sounds are great. mostly, i use one of the 3 "distortion" settings for a preamp. i like the badge setting as well. the acoustic faker is as good as one of the old boss pedals i've had in the past.

Reliability : 10
no problems so far, i've had this nearly 2 years.

never dealt with them. i was skeptical over that dod and digitech were the same company, and i don't like the dod/digitech multi effects units. however, i've been playing a number of years and i'll say that digital effects have come a long way.

Overall Rating : 10
i'd have to give this a 9-10 rating. the effects allowed me to replace a bunch of pedals i have.

i have about 10 pedals, this is one of my favorites.
i also have a hendrix octave, a vintage crybaby, mxr super chorus, vintage mxr distortion plus, ibanez sd9.

First let me say I love Eric Clapton and have a lot of effect pedal experience with all types, and really enjoy most Digitech offerings. This is one of the easier pedals to operate, but my issue is with the sound quaility and choice of effects given on this unit to represent the original guitar god.

Sound Quality : 2
Not impressed all around. Using my 20th edition H&K tube amp, and Palomino Class A amps, with American Strats and Les Paul.
The acoustic setting does sound decent in a stereo configiration, but you can get a better sound by using your eq pedal and lifting the highs and lowering the mids and lows using a single coil middle or neck position only.
The clean sound Lay Down Sally tone is a bit worthless. Dont we all have the ability to change and amp to sound clean, I would have like to replace this with a wah sound, something that clapton actually used.
The Rotary sound is a bit unatural sounding, compared to my Boss Rotary twin pedal or even my Digitech Expression factory. Your better off using a light tremelo with vibe to get a better sounding effect.
The only bright spots are the Layla distortion sound and Sunshine tone rolled back distortion sound, but can't we do this on any guitar with a decent amp distortion and tone knob? Overall sounds like a first try on sound quality, no where near the Digitech Expression Factory sound quality.

Reliability : 9
It is built very strong and looks reliable, I have no issues here.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 2
It is a shame that they could not come up with something like the Digitech Expression Factory for a Eric Clapton tribute. They could have minused the octave, flanger and space station, and replace it with Chorus (used on many of his tracks), maybe Layla lead tone and a clean strat type sound that added a single coil tone to a humbucker and or a mid boost for his present day single coil lead tone.
I wanted to like this pedal because I think Digitech in many ways is on there way to having better sounding products than Boss. This pedal misses the mark, my only thought is that maybe this is because this is one of there first one like it.

This is where it gets subjective: I only like one model in the thing but that one model made an old solid state amp sound great - crunch, bark, sustaing, sweet singing tones...I'm not saying which model I like but it's in there...

Reliability : 3
pedal on/off switch stopped working consistently...had to leave it opened up and push with a stick...a major hassle. However, because I just use the thing as an always-on preamp for an old fender solid state, I learned to live with it.

I got my first electric guitar when I was 16 and I will be 50 next week. Grew up on Zep, Clapton, Hendrix. I owned a 50w Marshall for about 15 years, Fender Bassman, etc. I built my own guitars from scratch, electric and acoustic, so I know what I like. I guess the thing that interests me is not what the most awesome equipment is but how can I get a great sound without spending a fortune ( I did that on my house)I give it a 10 for the one setting I like/love and a 3 overall. Try a used one in a old fender solid state amp and you might find a decent sound for about 1/20th the cost of any other tube rig...I just built a 50w tube amp and bought a 20w Hughes and Kettner so the search for the right rig goes on...

Ease of Use : 7
I purchased this pedal when they first came out and I'm annoyed to see that instead of around the $160.00 I paid (with tax included), they only cost around $99.00 on musiciansfriend.com. The sounds are OK, but kind of mild and not as much fun as the DigiTech "The Weapon" pedal that I also have, which I have more fun using. Have not had to use editing patches, the manual is good. It is pretty easy to use.

Sound Quality : 5
The effects sound kind of weak to me and are somewhat undefined when switching between them. The pedal has never impressed me.

Reliability : 4
It has a strange problem where if I use the battery only, the power cuts on and off, and not just when the battery is dying. I tried several new batteries on it and for some reason, it acts like it shorts out or something because it turns on and off and sometimes just turns off. I have other effects pedals and other DigiTech pedals and know that when a battery is pretty much used up, the pedal will shut on and off, but on my Clapton pedal, it would turn off and on intermittently even with new batteries in it. I would not trust it to gig on, but it works 100% with the AC adapter plugged in.

Customer Support : 7
I e-mailed DigiTech asking about the strange battery issue and received an e-mail telling me to call them. I called and explained the issue and was told it has a 1 year warranty but a 6 year warranty if you registered online, which I did, so I was given the name of a local repair shop and took in the pedal. I don't think the DigiTech rep was convinced that it was anything more than the battery having just been used up, but I've never had any of my other DigiTech pedals turn on and off and off altogether with brand new batteries, and I know that when a battery is used up, the pedal does turn off a couple of times, but this happened immediately when I put in new batteries. I took the pedal into the repair shop and they tried a new battery and tested it and said it worked fine for them and thought it just needed a new battery. This confused me so when I went to pick up the pedal I watched them test it and to my surprise, the pedal worked like it was suppose to when using a battery, so I don't know why it shut on and off for me when I was using new batteries on it. So, not only did I pay around $160.00 for the pedal, but I had to pay another $43.00 to the repair shop to do the exact same thing I had already done numerous times myself, they put in a new battery and charged me for their time. I don't trust the pedal to not turn on and off for me when it has a new battery in it so I will probably trade it in for some other pedal. My other DigiTech pedals have been fine.

Overall Rating : 5
I can't think of anything else to add. I just had strange luck with this pedal and put too much money into buying it and then paying a repair shop to check the battery that I had already checked, for some reason it worked fine for them, but acted bad for me. The DigiTech rep that I called acted professionally and had the repair shop seen the same problem when using the battery that I had when I tried a bunch of new batteries in the pedal, it would have been a warranty issue, but as it stands, since the repair place couldn't duplicate the problem I had, I ended having to pay and get back a pedal that I just don't trust as being reliable now.

Seven patches, seven unique sounds.
Simple as that!

Sound Quality : 10
Seven great sounds, which you can use for creating your own stuff.
Every tone has possibilities, in any case for me.
I use a American Strat, the Jimi Hendrix Pedal, the Crossroads pedal, a Boss OC3-octaver - a DL4 and MM4 of Line6.
All the other boost things (tubescreamers ...), I sold.
You only need these sounds (16 JH and 7 EC) for creating your own music. And the nice thing is, it sounds every time the same and it doesn't matter how hard your volume is or if you use a tube amplifier or not.
I wished this was invented forty years ago!
Thanks Digitech for this great idea of putting complete FX-chain in alle the patches.

pretty easy to use if you have manual. it's online at digitech also. there's a switcher for the brian may/hendrix pedals, can this be used with the clapton?

Sound Quality : 10
here's the deal: i'm not into digitech. i was always skeptical of them because of previous dod junk, and hearing the multieffects processors that i hated. keeping that in mind, i tried this pedal on a whim at the store. i liked it, got it about a month later.

"presets" aka knobs @ 12, you can get the clapton sounds. added to this is there is some decent "tweak" to this. i disagree with reviews on the acoustic setting....it's similar to boss and other acoustic "fakers" out there. my best suggestion is use a single coil setting in mid or neck position, dial in volume/tone on your guitar to taste. Besides, if you use more than just that, you'd more than likely have a decent acoustic electric, separate amp, maybe another preamp...you probably get the idea.

there's a lot of versatility to this pedal. it covers blues, rock, classic rock, and even some heavier stuff with some adjustments to the #4 setting.
From my standpoint, it's great. plug & play!

Read the included manual and you should have no trouble understanding how to use this pedal. Getting good sounds out of the pedal is not so easy, actually it is not possible. This is a pedal that is not intended to be used in a live setting. The rotary switch is a major hassle and all of the different models have different volume settings. As an example, to hear the 'Reptile' setting you have to have the level set to at least 12 o'clock. Switch to the electric 'Layla' setting and with the level at 12 o'clock you risk blowing out your speaker.

Sound Quality : 1
Sterile. Digital. Bland. Those are the three best definitions for the distortion tones you get from this pedal. The rotary speaker effect is nice, but can be found in other less expensive pedals. You can do very little tweaking to the available models. Either you can adjust the tone or you can raise the gain levels. Raising the gain usually causes a very unpleasant sound to eminate from your speaker.

Reliability : 8
Seems like a very solid pedal. Heavier than a regular Boss pedal. Access to the battery is a bit of a chore. You have to depress two pins located on each side of the pedal. Boss hands down has the best design for battery removal.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. The pedal was returned after 3 weeks of fruitless searching for decent tones.

Overall Rating : 1
I play classic rock and blues. I thought this pedal would serve well for that purpose. I own a Digitech Bad Monkey which is far superior in every way to the crossroads pedal. The digitized sounds that this pedal creates are just awful. I used the pedal with a Fender tube amp, and that could not even save this thing. I really wanted to like the Crossroads FX and I gave it a couple of weeks, but the longer I had it the less I liked it.

It's fairly easy to use, assuming you read the manual and look at what the controls do. The problem, as someone previously pointed out, is the rotary switch while playing live.

Sound Quality : 8
I can get the Crossroads sound out of this easily. Badge sounds really good, and so does Layla electric. Reptile is a fun setting, but I don't think I've ever heard the song. The acoustic simulation is absolutely awful. I'm using a homemade tube amp (firefly 1.5) for practice or a Fender Blues Deluxe while playing live. Usually playing a MIM Strat with GFS overwound pickups, but have also used a Les Paul, a MIA Strat, and even the cheapo Squier 51.

I do not use the accompanying power supply. I use a One Spot adapter for all my effects, so I don't know if that's part of the noise issue a lot of people seem to be having.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. I do gig without a backup.

I play Blues, Classic Rock, Grunge, Punk, Alt Rock, and a lot of other things. This works well for Blues Rock, and has some nice effects that can easily be used for Grunge and Punk if you play with it a bit. I've been playing guitar for about 6 years, and I've owned tons of effects, several Stratocasters, a Les Paul, some Washburn guitars, and even a lot of no name equipment (and still use a lot of it). I'd probably not replace it if it were stolen because I'd probably put the money towards another amp instead. I really wish it were programmable, or at least had a switch to cycle through the different models.

i have to agree with the other reviewers who are stunned by the complete crap tone of this pedal. comes nowhere near any of the vintage cream-era sounds. why they would include any tone from "reptile" is beyond me, unless clapton is just trying to get some cross marketing for his shitty latter-day music. "badge" setting is the best but still nothing special. for distortion tones it's worth trying to find a colorsound fuzz-wah for only a little more $$ and a much cooler look and *authentic* sounds

Ease of Use : 9
I bought this pedal on a whim, I'm not even a big Clapton fan. 7 simple settings with tweakable options. I really think the overdrive settings are phenomenal, even with a cheap strat through a tiny marshall combo. You can get amazing thick stoner rock distortion from this thing which surprised me! The manual is easy to use and clear and just by playing with this thing, you'll get at least a few tones you are going to love. The acoustic simulator with reverb sounds clean and nice too.

Sound Quality : 9
All effects are trademark Clapton, if you follow the manual settings. Toss the manual aside and just play and listen and you'll get some crazy tones. The overdrives can be tweaked with the gain turned all the way up which sounds fantastic for drop D style metal ala Helmet and High on Fire, you can reduce the gain also and get real dirty blues sounds. Mine hums a bit, not bad through a cheap guitar and amp, nothing to worry about, if a little hum bothers you, get a noise gate for your kit. The rotary speaker setting by the way is lots of fun to play with. digiTech outdid themselves and made a really versatile box that, if used as directed, will get you all the Eric you need.

Reliability : 9
I would definitely use any DigiTech stompbox without a backup, they are built tough with good thick rubber no-skid plates. It weighs about 2 lbs and the great thing is that it comes with a little zippered pouch to carry it in, an AC adaptor and a ltd. ed. pick. Built solid with lots of fun accessories.

Customer Support : No Opinion
DigiTech put together a nice package, I felt like I was getting a great deal on a ltd. ed. pedal with all of the trimmings a pedal should come with. I have never dealt with DigiTech but their catalogs and manuals are well laid out and simple.

Overall Rating : 10
My only MINOR complaint is the littlest bit of hum this pedal creates with MY setup. I would heartily reccommend picking up one of these soon. It's supposed to be all Clapton but I got killer punk and heavy rock tones out of it with ease. Whether you favor Clapton or not as an artist, this pedal offers something for everyone, even an acoustic setting that is clean and warm. Overall operation is a breeze, you have the 7 model setting, volume, gain and tone, it could not be simpler. the more experimental you get with this pedal the more you'll enjoy it. I really like the rotary speaker emulation and the fact that there's a 2nd out for a mixer or soundboard. Crossroads pedal is a great package deal with the AC power supply and cool little cordura pouch for the pedal. This suits my stoner rock/electronica/hardcore musical needs and I haven't even really gotten the chance to dig in with it and push its limits. Well worth the $$.

Easy to use compact pedal with 7 preset sounds. Tried several digital multi-effects pedals in store but this was the only one that gave me a convincing and controllable crunch sound with my twin humbucker JJ Jewel guitar. No editing, just a couple of rotary controls to tweak each preset.

Sound Quality : 8
Presets are fine with my simple set up - guitar-digitech-marshall lead and bass 20 combo. Positions 1 & 2 are early Cream SG 335 sounds, 3 is electric Layla, 4 is Badge with rotary organ speaker, 5 is clean Lay Down Sally ( the only poor setting in my opinion )6 is a mild acoustic simulation with nice reverb and 7 is a very controllable clean to crunch with reverb and very subtle chorus, my favourite general purpose guitar sound with and without coil tap. The crunch sounds are the best digital simulations I have heard in a compact pedal.

Reliability : 8
Seems solid, supplied with carrying pouch, fitted battery and PSU. Battery life seems fine with about 2 hours so far on the original unit.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
A bit overpriced at it's original 149 pounds but managed to deal at 99 pounds which is better. Like the simplicity of operation and the basic sound quality of the presets. Would have liked variable reverb on all of the presets plus a chorus delay option - maybe I need to get famous and have my own signiture pedal !!. I Compared it with Zoom G2 and Korg boxes and chose the Digitech for its more convincing crunch sounds, certainly it has inspired me to play more guitar. If it where stolen I'd overclaim on the insurance a get a TC system !.

The sounds are very nice. You can tweak the sounds a bit, but in my opinion just leave them at 12 o'clock to get accurate sound. The Manual is ok,... simple and clear. Would prefer to have the "name" of the setting instead of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7. (bought it on Ebay)

Sound Quality : 9
I use Fender FSR Standard Strat (ash body, Mexican) through "vibroclone". The pedal is nicely quiet. The quality of the sound you get from it depends heavily on your playing capability, I am not that good, but when a friend of mine tried it!... I was impressed!! sounded like EC himself!! The pedal has 2 output!... very nice!!. The Badge setting is in stereo (if you use two amps). You can plug it directly to the console too.

Reliability : 10
This pedal is very, very, strong. I can depend on it anytime!

I play blues-jazz-rock'n blues stuff. Its perfect for those "creamy" blues!! and those particulars sounds from EC, nicely picked sounds! Would get another one no question about it (of course used ;-) I personally find it pricey!) The badge setting is incredible! I think this pedal will make me try to better my playing skills, it demands from you as guitarist and it sounds so nice it deserves it. This is not a pedal for the beginner.

Relatively easy..The knob functions can change with each setting though. Can be hard to keep track of. Wish the settings were better identified on the pedal..Ex: R for Reptile instead of "Knob 7"

Sound Quality : 6
The "Badge" setting is the best..Great leslie simulation. That's almost worth the price alone.. Setting 5 is good too.. Great for leads. The only dog is the "Layla" acoustic setting. One of the worst acoustic simulators I have ever heard!! I couldn't wrangle a good tone from it to save my life..Extremely "toppy"..The "Reptile" setting doesn't have much character..Pretty bland..

I think I could depend on it..Only had it a short time, and it's built like a tank..

Not a bad pedal..Some of the settings are fairly accurate tone-wise.
If I lost it, I don't think I'd buy it again though. They should knock the price down to $99.00...But I'm definitely holding onto it for the "Badge" setting..

It's not easy to get a good sound of it, maybe this should be in the sound quality section. But otherwise, it's really simple. The manual explains everything. They also include many things that separately sold with other effects units, such as: power adaptor, a crossroads pic, and a case for the pedal.

Sound Quality : 5
For the price it is about a 1. I don't know .. many of you like the badge setting, and tears in heaven, but please, something "worth" $150 should have first and foremost a good distortion sound to it. The sunshine, and crossroads settings are too processed, and sound nothing like the originals. I am a huge Clapton fan, and I don't know how anyone can say this nails the sound. It's not my amp. I'm playing this through a brand new American Deluxe HSS Strat with S-1, and a Fender Deluxe reissue. Listen to the sound samples on Musicians Friend. It sounds terrible, and over-processed there too.

Pretty easy to use, 4 knobs. Manual is OK. Not sure if it is just mine as I don't see any other threads mention it, but on the 7 settings sound choice knob there is no notch to stop the rotation per setting, pain using in a dark club. Overall I'd say the design is poor as a pedal for live use, I mean the pedal just does on/off. So if you need to change to a different sound your kneeling down on the floor tweaking it..no go.

Sound Quality : 7
Sound quality is OK overall, just used it for the first time at a gig (through a 50 watt Marshall and a Strat)and didn't like the sound much, but I probably need to mess with it some more, liked the sounds I got playing it at home. Also agree why no bluesbreakers/beano sound. Reptile, never heard it.

Play blues/rock, started right after the first Zep album came out. I have GAS (gear acquisition syndrome)so I have owned or own most mid level priced stuff. Down to about a dozen guitars and just two amps, a Marshall and a Carvin Belair. I'm usually pretty happy just going straight into an amp and using gain/volume to get a sound. For what it is the pedal is OK, just to many limitations to use live, I might work it in for just one setting, either the badge or crossrods and use it for a boost on leads. What's up with the "case", mine won't fit into it.Have not tried it for recording yet, it may work in better there than using it live has.

This pedal is pretty easy to use. I have to adjust the level when I go from one sound to another. I generally use the "Lay Down Sally" setting for my country gigs and just leave it there. I wish they would have made all the patches the same volume since there is no provision to store any user settings. For this reason I'm giving the pedal an 8.

Sound Quality : 9
I generally use a Music Man Steve Morse, a Strat, or a 60's ES125TDC through a Fender Twin or Deluxe Reverb. All sound good with this pedal. I do prefer single coils but that is just my personal preference. I mostly use the "Sally" setting but the "Badge" setting is very cool too. For bluez I use the "Reptile" setting and a Fender Deluxe Reverb. Nice big fat sound that doesn't get lost in the mix. Overall I'm quite pleased with all the sounds.

Reliability : 10
I NEVER go to a gig without a backup. However, I have been using this pedal since it was introduced and it has never let me down. Very sturdy construction.

I do Classic Rock, Country, and Bluez. This pedal has something for each style. One band I'm in does all three styles in the course of a gig and I have found this pedal to be a "all in one" device. I actually did a gig with this band and only brought out the Clapton pedal and it covered all the bases just fine. I almost wish I had three of these so I wouldn't have to bend over and change the settings. Again I wish they would have matched the output volumes of the various settings.

Fairly simple to use, I give it an 8 because the rotary selector isn't very practical in a live setting.

Sound Quality : 5
I am a huge Clapton fan and listen to his music a lot, but this pedal doesn't really deliver. In the store it was really cool, nice acoustic sound, I thought what the heck I've spent $150 on dumber things. I hurried home with it and tried it through everything. Mesa studio 22, Marshall Mk II with EL 34's, Solid state stuff, It just wasn't singing, not much sustain, very hollow. It's cool to mess around with, but not really nailing it. The best Clapton (Cream Era) sound I have gotten was using my Boss Metal Zone (tweaked back of course) into my 100 Watt Marshall Mk II through 2 Marshall 4x12 cabs. I use a '57 Strat in the neck/middle postion with the tone rolled clear off. Woman tone to the max.

Reliability : 7
All the digitech stuff I have had has a tendency to peter out after a few years, scratchy pots, loose wires, etc. But this unit does seem a little more sturdy than the others I have had.

Customer Support : 5
I have dealt with Digitech before and they were nice but slow, slow, slow. They got the piece fixed, but hell any big company like this will be slow with warranty work.

Overall Rating : 6
I play blues to metal, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Nugent, Ozzy, and of course E.C. I like a lot of sustain and a vocal quality to my sound. I am not hung up and brands and have never paid much more than $500 for any piece of gear. Nor should you. If the piece is dependable and stays in tune, roll it... I don't care if it's Elmer Fudd brand. The secret is in the hands and the heart. If Eric Clapton plays a Silvertone through a Crate practice amp, he will still sound like Clapton. So the moral is, don't try to buy your way to a tone, practice your way to it.

It's of the same DigiTech quality I came to admire by time, and I'm also going rant and rave about the "Badge" sound (Model 3), it's brilliant when on-board overdrive is added. In fact it's the best rotary simulation sound I've ever heard except for the Korg G4, and it's surely a keeper - like the first DigiTech signature pedal "The Weapon" (outstanding sitar simulation plus excellent distortions). I do like the other settings (acoustic "Layla"'s quite nice but Korg's latest Pandora's really outstanding when looking for acoustic sounds!!!) but the "Badge" sound is the reason for buying (and keeping!!!) this very pedal!

I think this is as close to Clapton you're going to get without purchasing all the equipment he used. I especially love the mod for "Badge" which gives you that warm tone with the leslie effect. Manual is excellent...quality materials and great construction
Its easy to use but more difficult to understand the "philosophy" behind setting 3 "Badge" ....dont get me wrong I like the bridge section of the song Badge and being able to reproduce it but I guess I just dont get why they would highlight a sound for several bars out of one of Claptons songs Like what do you do for the rest of the the song you know what Im saying.

Really easy to get a good sound

Sound Quality : 9
Well this is my first digital anything. Im a tube snob I have to say I am very impressed with the sound of this pedal. You could easily spend thousands and thousands of dollars on guitars amps and effects and still not nail the exact sound of Clapton in some of his finest moments This pedal will give you thses sounds.
The lack of the "bluesbreaker" setting seems like a missed opportunity. The crossroads setting is great...so is sunshine...and the acoustic Martin sound is ...well something you will play with for a long long time

Reliability : 9
Yes built very well....and battery as well as included AC adapter Nice nice....gig bag/pouch...thick goofy guitar pick included
got a discount of $15.00 on mine ....from the store manager who is a friend...so I bought it...along with the Digitech Hendrix

The Clapton pedal is as close as Ive ever been to sounding like Clapton ....most of the settings can be expanded easily using the knobs to sound like many other bands as well What is so nice is you can hear the clarity of the strings of a Strat or Les Paul...even my heavy metal guitar ( ESP 351) SOUND GREAT and Ive tried many many combinations of expensive and not so expensive gear over the years.
Hearing the strings....and arriving to a new level of understanding of how Clapton sounded the way he did ( gear-wise)( a little bit country mixed with a budding heavy metal player to me thus far is his secret. A secret I had no idea about until owning this pedal and is a great unadvertised feature of the Crossroads pedal You simply come to understand something like you didn't before...wel lat least for me. A lesson or set of lessons that are well worth to me the 199.00 Can taxes included ....I paid.

If you really havent tried digital anythings...like me...it takes a bit of adjusting to. But without too much fanfare....and a clean amp...you are there. Sounds good through solid state amps like a Tech 21 Trademark 10 set for clean Fender or a nice tube amp like my Dr Z Route 66 but you have to minimalize the compression of the tubes and no gain so as to not add any flavour to the mix. Just let the pedal do the flavouring...its very tasteful. Just the philosophy behind having a bridge section out of a song ( Badge) Its beyond me
Please see my Digitech Hendrix Pedal review as well. I cant see how anyone can't like that pedal after playing around with it for a day or so.

I was very surprised at how good this pedal sounded the first time I heard it at the store. I've always thought all that digital modeling stuff stinks. In fact I still do but they are getting better. I bought the Digitech Hendrix pedal first, took it home and was extremely disapointed. I only liked one of the sounds(the Band of Gypsys sound). I took it back and got the Clapton pedal and I am pretty satisfied with it. If you are a Clapton fan you will like it and if you're not then you will probably like it just as much. Very simple to use, manual needs to be read to understand different parameters for a couple of models. Remote footswiching between models would have been a nice option if u dont like bending down between songs.

Sound Quality : 7
Can be quite bright, and used through an amp, the treble on the pedal may need to be backed off in certain models. Also synchronise the output of the pedal to the same or slightly above that of your amp, or you will find it noisy again on certain models. I am using it with a Mesa Rectoverb and custom shop strat with noiseless pickups. This is an overdrive pedal, not distortion or full on shred. Emulates certain Clapton tones closely but not perfectly, and because of that, is not tonally flexible.

I play sixties rock, and have for over 25 years. If you do Clapton or are a Clapton fan, this is the pedal for you. However with the right playing technique and good gear I you can get all the overdrives and tones contained in this pedal(with the exception of the acoustic model which isn't in my opinion really that usable)yourself. I am enjoying its novelty value, but if I take it back to the shop, I'll buy a Boss OS-2, so my overdrive sound isnt pigeonholed!

Easy to use - a couple of knobs and on/off pedal.
Manual is good but worth noting as a couple of other guys have that it doesn't make clear that the "natural" model - ie the one like the record - is at the 12 o clock position on the knobs.

Sound Quality : 9
Really good but you have to work with it if you want sounds like Clapton's from it. I have the luxury of having both a Strat and a Les Paul, and if you use the appropriate guitar for the model you are using they are spot on - i.e Strat for "Layla", "Lay Down Sally" etc, Les Paul for "Crossroads", "Sunshine..."
If you use the wrong type of pick up for the model they aren't as convincing but are still really good useable rock/blues tones for original work. If you're not a Clapton fan the pedal still delivers really high quality tones that can be tailored to be distinctive easily.
The acoustic simulator..... well, if you use a guitar with humbuckers forget it, a Strat sounds pretty good on the neck or neck + middle pickups BUT!!! If you use it with an acoustic with a pick up it's great!! It really makes your acoustic sound natural like a mic'ed acoustic. It's a little noisy this way but does act as a great pre-amp for an electro.

Reliability : 10
Solid as a rock, and great battery access. Comes with it's own padded gigbag!

The hidden bonus of the acoustic tones in conjunction with a real acoustic was a real find.
I play this through a Marshall combo which I only use the clean stting on now - the pedal is that good!!
It's not cheap by a long shot but it does deliver. If it were lost or stolen I'd definitely save for another.

Very straight forward Digitech product. Easy editing of patches and adjustments are as easy as turning the knobs. No editing then saving.
The manual is very straight forward also. I had it up and running to my recorder in 10 minutes. It is a heavy stomp box although compared to a Boss or even an Ibanez pedal, about twice the weight. But the cute little gig bag is nice so to protect it from dings and scratches.

Sound Quality : 9
I used the pedal straight from my '62 reissue Strat into a Yamaha AW16G. The tone was very good and the level was strong and noiseless.
So far I have played around with running it thru my Fender Twin but I will need to tweak the pedal for live playing. It seems setup for recording and not to be used thru an amp out of the box.
It does sound like EC's recording's,close as we will ever get to that tone that is. The Layla and the Badge tones are my favorites right now.

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem with a Digitech product in the past and from what I have read Digitech's new line of pedals are built like tanks. I would think after tweaking it no backup would be necessary. But for collectings sake I probably will purchase the second one.

Only had a return back 8 years ago with a Tuna tuner and it was replaced within 4 weeks. It took one phone call and everything was settled then and the rep was very nice and called back the day it was shipped to me.

I play Classic Rock and Blues. This pedal of course fits that bill.
I have been playing for over 30 years. I use Fender Tele's and Strat's and a Gibson LP. My amps are many but for recording I use a Vox Valvetronics and a Line 6 Flextone II and for gigs I use a Fender Twin and a Soldano SLO w/EV12L Mesa 2x12 loaded cabinet.
I bought this pedal mainly due to the Limited Edition because I collect effects pedals of all brands. I was surprized at it's tone though.
One thing I did discover is if you add the reverb of the Twin to a couple of the tones and turn the level down and use the amps master ('The Twin, a two channel version w/ master volume) you can get the Duane sound from Layla also. It surprized me a bit especially when playing the slide outro's. Overall I am exited to own one and can't wait until I can spend some time tweaking it for live work. Now I am waiting on the Hendrix version, I hope it lives up to the test as the Clapton pedal has......This isn't the best of the best as far as effects stomp boxes but it is the closes to EC I will ever get in my lifetime.............

If you use the mixer out its pretty straightforward but once you run it into an amp you will have to use the clean channel or you will lose the clapton tones. Not that thats bad since the amp out into a hi gain channel of a marshall deals out some wicked tones . This pedal can even dish out "master of reality tone"!It would ve been better if they described how to set up the guitar and amp to get the signature sounds.

Sound Quality : 9
THis pedal sounds great if your after the siganture sounds or if you want to dial in your own stuff.THis could be tricky to use in a pedal board if you want the studio sounds. It does work great in the place of other distortion pedals tho if you arent concerned with a clone sound. The 4th setting is great for hard rock or metal leads into a hi-gain amp and can even get "master of puppets"rhythm sound. The acoustic sound was better than most simulators. The "crossroads" tone was really nice blues tone ( Buddy Guy should get one of these!)

This information is kind of in the small print. Could be bigger print. I decided to play a Fender strat with Holy Grails into a solid state amp with the neck pick up selected. Dialed up a clean tone and turned off the reverb and chorus. Here is a little tip to getting the signature tones out of this pedal. First, select the Unplugged Layla setting, which I think is setting 6. Play with the Level, and Control knobs until you get a tone that comes close to the recording. The other tone or model settings then fall into line.

The sound quality is pretty good. If you follow my little Unplugged Layla tip, I think you will be fairly pleased. Just remember that the pedal is designed to capture the sound of the recordings. The Unplugged Layla setting is not supposed to sound like an accoustic guitar that is being played live in the room with you. This pedal was meant to capture the sound of the recording, which was an accoustic guitar that was miked, EQ'd and subjected to added reverb.

Seems OK.

Didn't have dealing with Digitech. I did make the mistake of ordering the pedal from Sweetwater Sound after I resolved years ago not to do business with them anymore. They had the pedal backordered. What upset me was they lied to me by saying they "pulled some strings to bump me up on the wait list." When I asked if they were sending me a returned pedal, they denied it. When the pedal arrived, the packaging and accompanying materials were a mess. The dead give away was when I found a battery already installed in the pedal.

Setup is very easy. Run this pedal into the front end of a clean amp with a transparent tone for best results. Most modeling devices work best with a solid state amplifier that doesn't add color to your tone. Even direct to a PA or mixer is great for purity of what the modeling effect is supposed to do. If you read the fine print, it mentions to start out with contols 1 and 2 in the 12:00 position to hear the exact model as it was intended. Set level accordingly. From that point, adjust Controls 1 and 2 slightly to fine tune to your gear setup. Each of the seven tones will require this for best results. For models using reverb, turn your amp reverb off to hear the reverb from Eric's amp. For best results, use the appropriate pickup type and position (if available to you) to most accurately reproduce the intended sound. This is not a typical stompbox. I'm going to direct record with it. Live performance would require adjustments if you need to use more than one of its models. I think it will be better used for recording purposes. Clapton either plugs straight in or uses a wah, Leslie, or chorus pedal. I would be surprised if we see him using this pedal live. Its more of a tribute to him, and a colector's item for us.

I'm using a PRS McCarty (great because it has humbuckers with a coil tap for single coil tones), Peterson Strobo Stomp Tuner, Digitech Crossroads, into a MESA Boogie Lonestar. This pedal is quite. A low level of noise can be heard from models of a cranked up tube amp. Nice effects. I bet its better with a stereo setup for the Leslie and Acoustic models. Very nice authentic tones. I don't use any other effects with this pedal in line. It's not a typical stompbox, and most likely wouldn't work too well with other effects added to the mix. I haven't tried though, and don't intend on doing so.

I play blues, rock, and dabble in other styles. I've been playing for 25 years and university trained (M.M.). This pedal is a great addition to my collection and a nice tribute to one of my heros. I like the variety of tones and currently don't own a acoustic, so this pedal will be a nice tone shaping tool. I compared this pedal to the GNX4, Line6 XT Live, and various overdrives. The mentioned modeling floorboards were overkill for me. I'm a tone purest, but wanted a simple box for direct recording. I didn't want to spend $400 or $500 on a product that will soon be an antique. Plus, I'm just not convinced of the tone of modeling devices for live performance. In the studio, they are super, but live fall short. I previously owned two modeling amplifiers and will never buy one ever again. They are a lateral investment at best, and decrease in value every year. Plus, software upgrades and repair can be a nightmare. For $150, this pedal is fun and may hold some value if production is indeed limited. It may be fun to collect these if they continue to pay tribute to true musical icons. Next, is Hendrix. Enjoy!

I have a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster with a Cyber Twin amp. The pedal was easy to hook up and use. The manual is your typical effect pedal instructions. A whole bunch of precautions and a very brief description of the effect. Too general. I prefer the Line 6 manuals which give suggested settings.

The effects deliver what they claim. I especially like the "Crossroads" and "Layla Electric" distortion. I agree with the previous post that the "Layla acoustic" is not very good.

I have always liked the Digitech quality in construction (I have a Hot Rod, Screamin Blues and Bad Monkey pedal) I have used it on two gigs with no problem. Nice feature that they include a Digitech power supply. The only possible problem might be with the "Effect Selection" knob. You can't always hear the click when you manually switch to another effect.

I play classic rock, blues and garage rock (White Stripes, Black Keys)
Also Eric Clapton, SRV and Kenny Wayne Shepperd. This pedal is the best for all the above. Minimal hum on the distortion settings (don't have to use a noise gate)
A bit pricey for a stompbox style pedal, but I would buy another if stolen.
Gig bag and pick a nice touch!
The reptile and badge settings are not that close to the original recording, but I have used them live.

Very easy to use pedal Like it very much. One knob to change tone type one to adjust level

Sound Quality : 5
Only seven setting and to be honest 3 of them are good to use. Why didn't he add his signature tones? Like cocaine? or a tone from "from the craddle" I didn't like the reptile tone I have enough gear to get most of his blues tones, just not what I expected. Though the unplugged sound is great since I am running into a tube amp with no reverb...

I am waiting for the jimi hendrix pedal to come out... this is ok, I am huge clapton fan just not of this pedal

no problems so far like any other land mine...

didn't contact them...

I go through a lot of gear and only keep the good stuff. I use a pod 2.0 when I record and use a bunch of old convereted tube amps when I jam out live...

If you have a lot of gear you can get most of these tones already this is convient if you play a lot of gigs and need one small pedal.

If this was lost or stolen I would not give a $#it, it ok.

I love the pedal, Very esy to use, and it has a goood manual. The package it comes with is ver complete with an adapter, gigbag plectrum, manual, waranty card, the works.

Sound Quality : 10
i just ow it fot a few hours but I've tested it by playing along te real tracks and its wonderfull 99% exact to the real tracks. sometimes ypu have to change ypur amp settings a little or change pickup. I ha dto think a little for where to put it in my amp chain but afster a little of trying I've put it after my boss OS2:

Squier standaard stratocaster-> Dunlop standard crybabyWah -> boss OS-2 -> Digitech Crossroads -> Boss BF-2 -> Laney HMCR65

Only the layla unplugged is not very good espacialy with to many reverb, but an real acoustic still sounds better. The other patches are very good. The badge Leslie spound is really nice, and even with my boss os. All other effects I have can be used with the pedal
