It's easy easy easy, it's very easy to get a good sound out of this baby. You can start modifiing a pre existing preset and try different possibilities. The manual is also good, it explain every part ofthe editing process and how to get a new sound.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using a Ibanez GIO and a Marshall Valvestare 100, great sound to rock!!! The clean sound are awesome and the distorted ones, the best of all, you can get the right distortion of Metallica, Godsmack, Steve vai and every Rock Legend, also the fuzz and the Wah Cry do the best emulating Jimi Hendrix. I think that all the effects are good, also the panner, I can't find where use it.

Reliability : 10
Yes, very weel constructed, IT?S METAL BABY!!! not plastic cheap ones, Great alphanumeric display not like Boss that have only 2 numbers, 6 Digits!!. I use it without backup, I don't need it.

Customer Support : 8
I don't have idea about that. I only can say that the site it's great

Hmm, accually is hard to get thru all this combinations... it takes some time to get what you want, or you think you want. But spending couple of hours with this "thing" works ! And if you got PC (GenEdit rules), the way will be much easier!

All seems to be ok with manual (helps a lot)

Sound Quality : 9
Kramer Striker `84 and Dynacord 100w or LDM GA-32 kick ass with this toy ! 3x Wah - Great !!!
hmm
whoa! it is much to say... just 9 !

i`ve got my GNX ony about 3 weeks but from second hand (it has about 2 years) and still works... it looks like new. Everythin` working fine exept 2 microswiches "up" and "down" (hard to click and works but not like it should).

Customer Support : 10

I don't know what everyone else have been playing through. But those who gave good reviews must of bought something else instead of the GNX1. It is impossible to get a good sound off it. The thing sounds so bad that it is not even funny. The manual didn't help a bit. The presets sounds worst than anything!

Sound Quality : 1
I wish I could give this a 0. I am using a ESP Viper 400 into a Randall RG75 with the GNX1 in the middle. The effects sound so digital that I dont even use it. The distortion sounds like a broken cable. The EQ is really crappy too. I tried to adjust something but it barely makes a difference. My ears are hurting from this horrible horrible box. The wah dosnt even sound like wah. Again, never EVER buy this.

Reliability : 1
No, the power supply broke a minute after I plugged it in. I tried using another AC adaptor but this thing broke it too. The Expression pedal is so stiff no matter how much i use it.

Customer Support : 1
I tried e-mailing them and using their forum several times but never got a response.

Overall Rating : 1
I tried to play metal with this but it is terrible. I'll never buy another Digitech. I already own the RP100 and it is even worse. I'm going down to the pawn shop later today to drop all my Digitech stuff off. If it was stolen? I would try a Boss. Make music? I made several riffs with my amp only and when i try to play it through the GNX 1, it totally ruined it! Again, I would never try another Digitech. I know they are going to be terrible.

First of all: excuse me for my english I'm from Argentina.
It's really easy to get a good sound for the gnx-1, but you have to look after it, warp models is easy but not all the amps are good, I really like the rectifier and the modgan (JCM900).
A really good feature is the FXmode, you can use the switches for the diferents efects, for example: the 1) for amp switch, clean tweed sound and hi gain rectifier distortion, 2) the efect, chorus, flanger, etc, and 3)the delay, also with the expression pedal you can control volume, and gain and the wah with the V-switch.
The manual is good, explains what the gnx can do in an easy way and you can easy create patches with the software genedit or download some patches from the web site of digitech.
I bought my gnx a month ago and it had the last firmware so I didn't upgraded it.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with a modified Yamaha eg112 and a Squier champ 15 or a Marshall JCM900. The efects are the best thing in this unit, the wah is excellent and it's work like a real one thanks to the V-switch,the other efects are great too, the delay, flanger, the WHAMMY, chorus, IPS,etc. I can get the sound of my favourite metal bands like METALLICA, Iron Maiden and Godsmack, but i can't reach the Yngwie Malmsteen sound, I tried it but i can't I think the secret is in his fingers!!!. But if you are looking for the screaming wah of Kirk Hammett or the Iron Wall sound of Jamz Hetfield this is for you!!!
I think that the only bad efect is the pitch because is a ghost note when you play with it, you hear the pitch note and behind the real note an it sound awful, but is only one. So I give to the GNX-1 a 10 in sound quality.

Reliability : 10
SURE!!!, it's built like a f-14, it's very sturdy. You can read the alphanumeric display from a mile and the FX mode get you to the simplier way to play live, you have all like a stompbox chain but in a solid box.

Customer Support : 9
I didn't dealt with the company yet but I read in other reviews that are very friendly so I give them a good score.

Overall Rating : 10
I play Heavy Metal, Power Metal and some Steve Vai, joe satriani Stuff. It match really well with my guitar and my practise amp (champ15) or my rehersal amp (JCM900) and I can get any sound I want in a easy and faster way. First of all you have to know the sound of the amplifiers that are emulated in the gnx-1 so you have an idea of which ones can match in a good way. I've been playing for 4 years and I really admire the maestro YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, this unit help my to get close to his sound and to create my own music. If it were stolen I would buy it again because it have all that I need, nothing more, nothing less.
I love the distortions, the efects and the V-switch, it's great, you can get the wah when you really want without changig patches. i only wish that it have a down bank switch but nothing its perfect, no?. I compare it with all the zoom units, GFX 4, 5, 8, and it is superior in all the ways so great Job digitech!!!!

It don't sound too good. But it don't sound to bad.

Sound Quality : 2
It's only good sounding when playing through a tape deck. It sucks through a tube amp. The tones is el stinkaroni. Yeah yeah lots of sucky swirlly stuff and poor sounds. None of the amp settings sound like a tube or solid state amp. They don't even sound like a good modeling amp which I have yet to here. I use this at home only with a tape deck. or a fender supper reverb when I'm hungry.

Reliability : 2
Who cares? Stinks is Stinks.

Never had to deal with these schmos.

Overall Rating : 1
I play da blues and da rock. I wish this thing would work with a tube amp. My favorite feature on this thing is the off switch. It is fortunate that Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison and Leo Fender had nothing to do with this.

Ease of Use : No Opinion
Easy to use once you have read the manual. Easier to use if you use the PC based editor.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Awesome if you run it through a solid state amps preamp in (effect return in). This is where the unit gets a bad rep. You must use a solid state amp or pa. I use a Fender Yale Reverb (best series of solid state amps Fender ever made).

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems yet.

Never needed to contact them.

If you are looking for a multi-effects pedal this is it. The GNX2 & 3 have bells and whistles that are not really needed unless you have the flexability to splurge and spend the extra bucks. Gotta run it through a clean solid state amp or PA, best if you bypass the amps preamp stage. If you are technical you will really get into it. Firmware upgrades/patches are available from Digitech. Digitech outdid themselves by creating this unit. Curious to see what they can come out with to top the GNX series.

Lot of functionality with a small number of buttons is always tricky, no graphic interface and you have to remember a lot of functions. But overall it seems to me intuitive and workable.
Patches are edited easily and the manual is excellent.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a lot of guitars and hey this thing is really great! Strat, Paula-like Framus, semic acoustic with P90 (hey, that is a great guitar).
Originally owned the Johnson JM60 (its the J-station with an amp) and played a lot with this Line 6 stuff, but the DigiTech outperforms each of them easily. If you are not too much looking for "original" sounds (which is almost impossible) but more looking for "your" sound, this one rulez.
The verstile manner of mixing up different amp models gives you great variety of sounds, the effects are great (except the noise gate is better on the Johnson), and the missing of the stomp boxes can easily be compensated by e.g. Marshall Jackhammer.
All the guys, complaining about the headphone sound are not reading the manual, there are two setups for headphone/PA or for guitar amps. The only unit on the market providing this option.
Another great thing is the set of min and max values for the pedal, that gives you live the chance to have a solo and a background sound and you don't run the risk to be too loud or no one hears you.
For what its built, the sound is excellent.

Reliability : 8
Metal built robust housing, foot switches are reliable, some of the smaller buttons suck. I changed my first one for the reason, that one of those didn't work anymore. No problem with the dealer.

Customer Support : 9
Great website, friendly and usefull forum. No problem with warranty when one of the buttons didn't work anymore.

Overall Rating : 10
Searched for a versatile unit to do recording, but also able to use it on stage. This one is it. I have additionally a Jackhammer, and no will go for a solid state amp (with a good clean sound) and a good box (any recommendations?). This unit helps your creativity, but also gives the chance to sound "just like". Not a lot of noise or clicks like the other units, very dynamic and great effects. Would buy it again. The POD is more expensive and offers less!

It's both easy to use and somewhat hard. Programming intial sounds are quite easy, but when you start to get really picky about your sound quality things can take a while. What to remember is you can get this thing to do almost anything, it just might take a while.

I did put a review earlier for this same product. I'm just trying to help some more.

Sound Quality : 9
I settled for a solid state Laney Linebacker 100R head and a 4x12 Jackson cab. I found the tube heads that a have, while they are great heads, add another amp sound that just made the GNX1 a bitch. My guitar I use with it is a Fender Floyd Strat that is S/S/H. After my intial couple of days of screwing around with the GNX1 I found a couple of things out...The GNX1 can be pretty picky! If I made a sound patch I liked and changed my guitar or cab it would sound pretty different ( we all know it should but it was offen very undesirable ) Another couple of notable major things some people are missing when they play with this thing is you gotta get a really nice clean sound from the amp you are playing through and mess with the output level on the GNX to get things to jive, it makes a major difference. Also as some other have said this thing sucks useing headphones. Shouldn't it though? If you skip a real amplifier and a cabinet what the hell do you have? You sure lose a lot of dynamics if you just use it direct. Bass players and keyboards can go direct into a mixer, the rest of us can forget it. I do sit in my easy chair and go direct sometime but it's not to make new patches or wonder why I have no sustain.
As far as the effects and amp models go this thing is out of this world! The only effect that is a little weird is the noise gate, it cuts in a little too fast on most presets and needs a lot of attention on your patches.
The sound quality that you CAN get are quite amazing despite what some others may have said. Lots of playing around with the EQ's and stuff but you can hit the sound you need.

Reliability : 8
So far so good. I don't like the weak looking power supply. The Power supply jack barely stays in so I duct tape mine in just in case. I always take a bunch of Boss pedals ( sorry Digitec ) with me just in case.

Overall Rating : 9
The GNX1 is a music maker. I have been playing for over twenty years and play everything and I mean everything. The band I WAS in ( just packed it in ) did everything, Zep, Metallica, Heep, Hoobastank, Kid Rock, Walsh, Foo Fighters, Skynard, SRV and originals. After having this huge daisy chain of pedals and crap on the floor and constantly hitting the wrong thing or kicking out a power supply this was my dream come true. I was buying a tuner when the salesman said, " der, this thing tunes." and pointed at the GNX. Now I have this wonderfully clean floor and every sound I can think up. Like me, the other guitar in our band is kinda shitty on these "processors" and really snubbed me when I showed up with this. In a few minutes he was all over the thing. It really helped when I whipped out EVH's "cathedral" without touching my volume. Can you understand how cool it is to have just got done playing " The Unforgiven " and while the band tunes play " Mid Summers Daydream " ( a great old Triumph acoustic )? Trust me it's cool!
The GNX1 is not the answer to every need I have and will never replace the sound I can get from my tube amps but until I get a monkey to A/B box and hit effects for me this is a great thing to own.
Now, ( I always put my 2 cents worth more in ) just practice. Please. Don't get blown away and you gotta go and get a this guitar of that effect. Get on your technique. I had a ten year player checking me out and right there wanted to trade me a awesome ESP. He thought my Jackson Dinky just wailed. Wailed until I plugged in his ESP. Now that thing wailed! The GNX1 isn't going to make you wail if you can't. You're going to just go from sound to sound playing bar chords for three minutes and go on to the next sound and play more bar chords!?!?! Spend sixty bucks on Curt Mitchells videos instead ( or on a few lessons ). When you get over laughing at the 80's look he has he'll learn you a little something about putting your fingers and pick on the strings.

OH MAN THE EFFECTS ARE THE BEST THING ON THIS PROCESSOR! i love the pedal WAH it has alot of range i got it to mimic the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah... it has a nice fat tone i love it! the panner rotarty speakers were better than i thought. i thought it was going to sound awfull but digitech did it again.!

I plugged it in and the 48 presets were right there. After I downloaded the manual online and read through it I was on my way to getting som great sounds. Very, very easy to use. Great manual for someone that just wants to play a guitar and has hated processors like this. I went in to buy a tuner and walked out with this.
It tunes too.
Detunes, uptunes, whammy bars, its got a drum machine, a track learner. It has great effects, bad effects ( ya ya ). It has way more than I need.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using a Laney Linebacker 100 Head and Jackson 4 X 12 cab. A Fender Fat Strat Floyd Rose, Jackson Dinky reverse and a few others here and there. The first thing you should do to make the GNX1 sound right is to go direct ( use the Bypass mode ) and get your amp to sound GOOD and CLEAN. The GNX1 seems a little moody when you change from amp to amp or guitar to guitar, just start from scratch and change your amp and get it to sound right and the GNX1 should sound great. Most stock settings are very dark and bassy but that is the cool thing about this is that YOU CAN MAKE THE PRESETS SOUND LIKE ANYTHING YOU WANT!
This comes with 48 presets that never change so you never lose a original sound.

You can modify any of the preset sounds into a shape that you can use.

It comes with about a ton of effects that you can put in and take out.

Remember the presets are a combination of two different amps and maybe a few effects ( sometimes a lot ). So don't forget to give yourself a few simple plain amp sounds with no or very little warping. I think that is where a lot of the real dark, muddiness can come from on some of the presets.

This is one cool pedal. I have my banks named for the artists that we play. The first bank I named "Sandman" it has one of the presets CLNCHO as the first sound and then two sound that I made THKCHO ( a heavy Rectifier and chorus sound ) and METLED a newer Metal lead sound. Then in my second bank I have three old Master o Puppets sounds, one with a wah... you get the idea. Now at the touch of my foot I have a sound to play clapton to acoustic and santana to slayer.
Not every sound is great out of this but it is sure helping the ease of playing.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't like the foot switches and have not really pounded it enough to know but I own other other digitech stuff that has lasted so I would hope this will last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no ideer.

Overall Rating : 9
I gotta say I have been very resistant to these types of gadgets in the past. I have tried a Boss like this one ( I am a huge Boss fan )and while i thought they where kinda cool most of the presets sucked! I mean the thing ( boss ) where you play one note and the effect plays this huge asending and desending riff sucks bad.
Now I have to have a bunch of sounds that are very different from the last song we played and this is a great way to do it. I can just get done with 3 a.m. ( acoustic ) and then hit a bank that has my Molly Hatchet sounds, then switch to Metallica and then play Cathedral ( without ever touching my volume ) I love this thing.
