Ease of Use : 9
I dont agree with the earlier reviews about having to study the manual before using this thing. Its easy to set up patches using the knobs on the matrix editor, even easier using the software. Good set of presets included that can be used as a basis for tweaking to get the tones you want.

Sound Quality : 10
It really does a good job on emulating the different amps and effects. I have had a Pod 2.0, PX4 and a V-Amp and this makes significantly better noises to my ears, fuller an no buzzing, the guy who said its buzzy must have it set up wrong.
I use it through PC monitors and headphones for recording and through a AVT50 effects return for jamming and it sounds great. Some of the presets are quite good others not but anyway you can tweak them and then save them.

Reliability : 9
Its metal, built like a tank and quite heavy, should take some abuse. Dont know how the electronics is cause I havent opened it up but the knobs and buttons feel pretty solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Hvent had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly rock and blues and indie stuff but no metal. There are some metal patches on it but I couldnt judge them if I listened to them. Its got a nice big display on it too so you can see where you are without bending over or fishing out your specs. Have played 25 years and bought and sold too much gear to list out here but this is the best sounding pedal I have heard so far. It gave me a whole new enthusiasm for pplaying and I couldnt stop putting different guitars through it for days.

Ease of Use : 9
This unit is very easy to use
patch editing is intuitive via the Xedit software.
I have V1.3
manual is good but could be better. Someone told me to see the videos at mfxsupermodels.com and even though it's on GNX4, it still explains much more. They also have a model pack that I will add later this month. from what users say at Digitech, the super models pack is def worth $60 if you don't like to tweak day and night

Sound Quality : 9
Awesome- through my Strat and Pauls, very nice

Effex are good, not a G major but very good

I tried the patches from g3456 a guy at Digitech Workstation forum and the patches written by that guy are the best. nice tube sound and chunky ballsy stuff for high gain situations. Try them and see the difference!

Compare to my POD XT live hands down the GNX3000 sounds better. I use a crate BV amp and it sounds real nice. My POD sucked through the BV head.

Reliability : 9
Seems built ok, my pedal squeeaked but I loosened the bolt and it's fine now. I 've gigged 8x with it. No problem so far.

Customer Support : 9
Support is great. users have said things about the editor and the softweare but it worked flawlessly on my Dell 310. Drivers and the Pro tracks stuff works perfectly. maybe the others had internal PC problems or something.

Overall Rating : 9
I play all kinds of stuff and this works for 99% of it. I like the IPS efx the best. better than Boss and other pedals IMO. No doubt I'll spend another 60 bones and get the Super Models amp packs for this. most users say they can get any sound with 600 or so models on that disc. Sounded too good to be true since Line 6 only gives 30 or so for the same price. If your not sure like I was, ask around or google it. I'm sold.

GNX-3000 can do much for you. It's a very good modeler and built sturdy enough for road. I even saw some videos with Michael Wilton and Jen Batten using one. It must be good enough for them!!

Nothing in my book is ever perfect- overall 9.5

The most awesome attribute of the the 3k is that no matter whether you're a beginner or a pro you are sure to get great tone out of this unit. the editing tool (XEDIT)is awesome and it makes creating patches easy.
I'm not a manual friendly person but the is pretty easy to understand. Up to now there are no firmware update but the 3k could certainly use one and digitech is quite aware of it's problem (I will explain later)

Sound Quality : 10
I use all Fender Telecasters with stock single coil pickups and my own personal frankenstein which is a yamaha pacifica which is loaded with 1 58 SD humbucking (bridge), 1 hot rails (mid) and 1 jb jr (neck) and it sounds awesome. I 3k with an xlr cable to my 1/4' preamp connection on my amp and all my noise gate setting at about 12 or 13 and it is the quietest i've ever heard. The effects always sound great but you have to tweak according to your amp. My amp is a fender 2x12 hot rod deville. The default artist patches are somewhat weak but they are good staring points. I've got the most amazing EVH tone on mine due to some tweaking. I can't say that i'm unhappy with any of the effects but i havn't used all of them either.

Reliability : 10
I've used mine for practice and live and the unit takes a licking. The only thing you need to be carefull with is the USB connection on the 3k it breaks quite easy.

Customer Support : 7
It all depends on who you get. Shane is the man and is very informative. bill clayton is quite arrogant and not so helpfull.

Overall Rating : 8
I play classic rock and the 3k is perfect for it. i've been playing fo over 30 years and have lost alot of stuff. If I lost the 3k I would be heartbroken. I love just about everything about the 3k...except the recording feature Pro traks sucks and it is problematic. Very hard to get the drivers to cooperate but then again i didn't buy the 3k to use it as a sound card so just get another recording program. I wish it had a wireless remote controll.
I can't stress how bad using the 3k as a sound card along with the supplied recording software is. it just plain out sucks...for that alone i think digitech should nock off $100.00

Ease of Use : 7
I posted a review of the GNX4 that I replaced a GNX3000 with, so
look for LouieDNVa if you care to. The Ease of use is the same for both units- 'Easy to use' is overrated when trying to describe a unit with so many features. The answer is yes, it's easy to use, but how many features do you want to customize to your particular needs or actually use?

Sound Quality : 10
I tested/sampled it with an Epi Les Paul Custom w/Seymour Duncan Invader in bridge and SD whatever hot wound pu in the neck, and
a Hamer Ash fat strat type. I used good Sony headphones and a Roland Micro-cube when my ears got tired.
As others have said, the presets must be tweaked= they are overdone in most cases- too much effects, etc. I guess they are trying to showcase the effects and encourage you to learn how to tweak for yourself!

Other than that the amp emulations were the best I've heard so far-
just about like playing on the real amp- much better than the Pod XT that I've used for a couple of years, and somewhat better than the GNX4 I replaced the GNX3000 with.
It really Yanks out the tone from the electrics, but sounds warm and convincing on the acoustic patch with a Tacoma DM9 w/Fishman gold pu.
I think the different amps emulated REALLY sound different, unlike my PodXT.
I only replaced it because the GNX3000 has no internal recording capability. GRRRRRR!

Reliability : 9
Seems more rugged than Roland pedals, that I've owned.

Customer Support : 10
Great web site! Good customer support at Guitar Center- get the
extended warranty- 2 month return policy- just be sure to keep the box, receipt, etc!

Overall Rating : 9
All styles except Rap. Not much R&B or metal, but I like to kick out the jams occasionally (more so with these tone machines!) Since I got these tone machines, it's a new world of sound! Like others have said - it's hard to put your guitar down- just wear headphones and you won't p*ss off your neighbors late at night!

Sound is awsome but it takes reading the manual and some time alone with it tweaking. Editing patches is very simple with x edit but a little tricky without. The manual is very effective and helpful. I do have to say if you turn on the speaker compinsation right away there are alot of good factory presets not all, but some..

Sound Quality : 10
This baby rocks I have had many units boss gt-5,6,8 I liked them and I also had a pod 2.0 and a xt-live and i liked them too.I had korg units and vox.. had a gnx 1,3 but this baby rocks them all.. the guys at guitar center hate me cause of all the returns I've made between the gt-8 podxt-live and I settled for the GNX-3000..:o)Amp models rule distortion pedals rule and great effects too..I play straight into a laney tube combo but the main reason I bought this is because I use the xlr outs straight into my pa sounds awsome...

Reliability : 10
havent had it long enough but I will answer that in a future review.
Digitech has always served me well...but this baby is built like a tank switches are great and its all metal exspression pedal is solid...

Customer Support : 9
never needed them I agree with an earlier post the best support is when you never need them... I have upgraded other units through their website very easy no problems at all.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playin for 37 years and I owned just about any piece of equipment you can name not all but close..from my experence this is going to be a hot item soon very useful features and if somebody stole it it would suck to be them...:o) I would buy another one.. like yesterday...;o)

If anybody is thinking about buying one of these and cant decide and has some questions in their mind that need answers please feel free to email me...

(i'm Greek so excuse me for bad English...)Ok The new creation of Digitech is pretty cool but it has some "professional" features that amateurs don't know. It's very easy to get a good sound out of it but a beginner should take some time to practise with the knobs...The way the effects are organised is very good(its better in x-edit),and you have an overal view of all effects. The only "dificulty" on gnx3000 is recording via usb where almost everyone finds problems with the drivers and x-edit.Generaly gnx3000 has a friendly environment.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this masterpiece with Epiphone goth series(equiped with seymour duncan)and BC Rich Beast(EMGs) and a Marshall mg50dfx.
I just get what i want....At first i was dissapointed because i couldn't get any sound, but after 1-2 months of studying the manual(i studied more than i did for my exams...),i managed to create some really good sounds.I have a black metal band so i get those "dark" sounds of Darkthrone,Burzum,Emperor etc.I've also managed to create a Malmsteen tone and some good thrash/death sounds of Metallica,Pantera and Cannibal Corpse. The only bad thing i can say about gnx3000 is that the distortions are too much(maybe I can't use them well....)and the noise gate does a strange noise after stopping a note immediately. But this happens only in extreme distortion sounds.Another problem is the fuzzy clean sounds especially with Acoustic Simulation(maybe it's my sh-13....)Anyway if you search this baby well you will get good resaults.Oh...everyone says that the factory presets aren't good enough.I agree but if you turn the volume up they sound better.....These problems are hard to notice....The only serious reason that makes me rate gnx3000 with an 8 is the noise caused when you connect usb cable and you connect gnx3000 in a monitor...Really annoying..

Reliability : 10
I could use it on a gig but i've never tried...It looks.....solid.I once had an accident and it fell down but nothing happened! It works well and doesn't have even a scratch....METAL!!!

Customer Support : 10
I get sounds from Digitech's site and i have posted some sounds too.I have to say that i had problems with x-edit and some guys at Digitech really helped me to solve it!

Overall Rating : 10
I play guitar for 6 years.I own a POD xtLive and it sucks.I've also heard new Boss gt-8 and it isn't that good...(it's better than line 6).I liked the new Korg Ax3000.But GNX3000 is by far the BEST.I wish it had more Artist sounds.....The only thing i have to say about gnx3000 is:
GNX3000 NEEDS TIME TO GET USED TO IT!DON'T HEAR THE FACTORY PRESETS!BE PATIENT AND CREATE YOUR OWN SOUNDS!!!

Ease of Use : 9
Really simple to use. I tried the GT8 and you pretty much need a degree in engineering to figure out how to use it. The manual is fine (nothing too special) this unit is version 1.0. Editing patches on his thing is a breeze and they're are quite a few good patches on the Digitech website. The factory presets leave something to be desired but who uses those for anything other than a good starting point

Sound Quality : 10
I'm running this into a 2x12 solid state amp and it sounds amazing. No noise at all, realistic amp models and great effects. Everything on it is set out in a way that makes sense (at least to me it does!). Good, warm tones are simple to nail. The cleans are great and the distortions are really flexible (anywhere from light to extreme). Using the included software for editing really unlocks this units potential. Great tone for a floor processor

Reliability : No Opinion
Only had it for 3 weeks but no problems so far. I originally bought the Pod XTlive and the damn thing electrocuted me and fried itself as I was trying to hook it up to my PC, So compared to that this is a tank. I would gig without a backup for the simple fact that I could always just run straight into an amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Great website with lots of resources and a rapidly growing patch library. Not quite up to the Line6 website as far as sheer number of patches but this is a newer unit

Overall Rating : 10
This thing is great for any kinds of music. I play in a cover band for a living as well as in a metal band for fun and so far this has covered all the bases. I've been playing for 19 years and have owned tons of gear. As far as processors go this one has to be my favourite. I compared this to the GT8 (sterile sounding and hard to program), The XTlive (potentially dangerous and "fizzy" sounding) and the GNX4. I went with this one becuase of overall sound quality, flexibility and ease of use. If it were stolen I'd pick up another one A.S.A.P.

It takes some tweaking to get good sounds out of it. I don`t like the factory presets very much so I created an empty preset (no Amps, no effects at all)in the user preset area to start from. Compared to the Digitech GNX2 I had before editing patches has become slightly easier as the equalizer for the green+red channels have got own editing rows
on the GNX3000. But still there are parameters you can only access
using the X-edit software, which is a major disadvantage compared to
competitors LINE6+BOSS. The manual is good. Firmware is 1.0.

Sound Quality : 9
In most cases through headphones or into the computer. Guitars are Gibson RD Custom+Gibson SG Standard. The unit is not noisy. (if you don`t want it to be) The effects are very good, although not much
progress has been made since the GNX2. It should be easy to get the
sound of your favorite artist. (who ever that may be) I love this unit
for the amp simulation it features. That`s what makes it superior to
the LINE6 and BOSS units. To me the GNX3000 offers far better amp
simulations, and to top this the absolute highlight is the amp-morphing feature that I can spend hours on, creating "new" amps.

Reliability : 10
It`s the fourth DIGITECH unit I got. None of them ever caused any
trouble.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I once did a firmware update for the GNX2. No problems. The best customer support is the one you never need. So my compliment to the
DIGITECH people.

Overall Rating : 9
hard n heavy. The GNX3000 is great for that. You can get a big selection of distortion sounds without even using the stompbox feature
of it. I`m playing for 37 years now.......concerning effects I got a Podxt+modelpacks, LINE6 DM-4, BOSS GT-6, several vintage effects.
I would buy it again right away, if it were stolen. I like the amp
modeling and the amp morphing feature most. I would even buy it if it
did just this and nothing else. Some more high gain amp sims like in
the LINE6 PODXT metal shop pack would have been welcome. Anything I`d
like to share? Yes, if you got a DIGITECH GNX unit, no matter which
one, use the amp morphing feature.

it is fantastic for clean and low/mid gain rock/blues tones = im not convinced its possible to get a super higain modern metal tone, big hair = yes, Metallica/sepultura = hmmmmm

patch editing is a breeze - the matrix is very simple to understand, its infinitely simpler to use the software.

Sound Quality : 9
chugging i cant do = i cant make it sound nice, not enough attack - can sound very harsh and digital when you start messing with the recitfier eq.

I nearly gave up because of this. I got a POD for the hi gain stuff and played on that for a few weeks - after i got the metal out of my system i started playing with the Line 6 blackfaces/bassmans/plexis/hi-watts etc..

for fun i plugged the GNX one last time before i ebayed it and = WOW!

all the classic amps on the GNX are so beautiful compared to the plastic sound of the Line 6 versions = literally can just sit there strumming an open chord on some of the amp models = just marvelling at the quality of the tone. I love the Hi-Watt and the Marshall Master, all of the tweeds/fender blackfaces and bassman models are just amazing.

The Line 6 stuff is good - dont get me wrong - but the POD stuff sounds like you are listening to a guitar on a cd, the GNX sounds like you have the amp in your room!

Ill keep the POD for the metal and some of the effects - it does them better - but for sheer unadulterated amp tone = the GNX3000 wins hands down!!

obviously the speakers you listen to will have a huge effect on your enjoymemnt of the tone. a lot of people are having fun with valve poweramps, im using my HIFI (connected using shielded patch cables from the left and right 1/4" line outs into the HIFI amp) with the speaker comp turned on = speakers are a little small to really 'feel' the sound but it still sounds breathtakingly good i think.

I really like the way digitech have set out the presets aswell. Factory 1 bank is lots of artist tones, factory 2 is just loads of basic amp tones and some examples of stompboxes and warping - very nice tone, not overly dripping in effects and extremely useable.

Reliability : 8
its solid metal, but i worry about the plastic fitting on the matrix, could have had some protection on there. I dropped my mobile phone on the matrix button and pushed it into the casing = could i get the case apart?? = could i f***!! luckily i managed to lever it out again with a small watch screwdriver - it works fine = thank heavens!!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
great for any tone freaks (except extreme metal fans) = seriously = you owe it to yourself to spend some time with this beast!! just play with the speaker comp and your speakers.

its sounds gorgeous!

the sheer number of possible stompbox/effects/amp and cabinet combinations are amazing, then you factor in the amp warp and cabinet tuning and you have infinite tone generation possibilities.

The Bass and acoustic modelling is also fantastic BTW - and a special mention needs to go to the whammy and Intelligent Pitch Shifter (harmonisor) effects = they are tons of fun (divebombing on a hard tail guitar and pulling off thin lizzy twin guitar solos on your own? = brilliant!)
