Very Easy too use this pedal , There are four knobs, Level, Hi, Low and Grunge i think. The hi and low are your EQ controls, Grunge knob controls the amount of distortion and Level controls the actual volume of the pedal (works best at half way to full). The manual for the pedal is good, it offers you some ideas for settings but theyre not good but hey its handy for pedal newbies.

Sound Quality : 3

This pedal really should be named "METAL" instead Of "GRUNGE".

The Grunge knob doesnt make a difference: it sounds practically the same at 10 as it does at 1. The only difference is the sustain is cut. Not all GRUNGE is bone crushing distortion. i use it with my MG30DFX and my JCM900. Big Tonal difference i know but it sounds a bad kind of dirty through both.

I tried to get a grunge sound out of it by trying to get the same kinda sounds a kurt cobain would have but it wasnt for happening.

In the end i gave up on this pedal and took it back to the shop.

Reliability : 6

It was metal, so i would probably rely on it; with spare batteries and ac adaptor.

Didnt have it long enough :P

Overall Rating : 3

I Play Grunge/Punk stff, and this pedal really only dos metal. The grunge knob doesnt work; they may as well rip it off. The EQ is god theres a big difference from 0-10 on the knob.

But trust me if your looking for a grunge/punk sound buy an Ibanez smash Box (SM7). It does this genres job so much better than the Grunge pedal does:

Digitech- Change the name to METAL.

Features 4 controls; Loud, Low, High and Grunge(distortion). This pedal couldn't be easier to set up to the right sound for you. Even changing the battery involves no effort whatsoever. Perfect.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a 70's SG and a Danelectro 56 Pro though this thing and it sounds amazing. This pedal is definently suited to those with heavier music in mind. It's relatively quiet (no nasty background fuzz or anything) even when the Grunge is turned up to full. The pedal has a real underlying 'boom' when you turn the low right up. I tend to leave the low on full and have the high and grunge 3/4's of the way round and it really is a hell of a sound. I've been asked to turn to low end down at gigs more than once as the sound technichans are worried I'll blow the PA! It isn't very versatile though, only suited to a few sounds and the gain control doesn't have much effect over the actual sound.

Reliability : 10
I've never had to worry about the reliability of the thing. It has a hard metal shell and I've definently kicked it about enough.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Meh. Don't think I'll ever need to get this thing repaired. And when it does pack in I'll probably just by another one.

Overall Rating : 9
I mostly play grunge and metal and this is perfect just for that. It's designed for those who aren't technically great on the guitar. At the same time, it sounds great during the few solos that I decide to put in. My last fuzz box was a Danelectro French Toast pedal, but this definently gives enough fuzz and 'nasties' to keep me happy. I've been playing for about 4 years and my only other pedal at the mo is a Boss flanger. They are both such powerful pedals that they don't work very well together, the flange always seems far too pronounced. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it sounds so weak when the low is turned down, but that may just be because I'm so used to having it on full. Also, it is definently way louder than I'd ever use. Apart from that, a F*CKING GREAT PEDAL!! BUY IT! NOW! No, I mean, actually......NOW!!!

Piece of cake really. Twist around the knobs and you've got a killer tone.

Sound Quality : 10
I got almost all tones i was looking for. Got the exact ditto Megadeth, metallica, black sabbath, slayer, pantera etc etc etc tone. Not too good for soloing, though the sustain is killer.

This pedal should be renamed to the "Metal" cause thats what it does. Much better than most of the metal pedals i came across/

Reliability : 10
100% reliable. Even in low voltage, it rox.

Customer Support : 10
Never tried it, though 6 yrs warranty is kickass

Overall Rating : 10
Awesome pedal, awesome crunch and sustain. good for metal. awesome even for rock and grunge. Works great with all amps. Has a direct to mixer output option which is pretty good.

All in all, a killer buy. \m/

i am running a schecter c1 artist with a jb-4 pickup int a marshall avt 50 half stack. Sometimes i use a morely bad horsie wah. This thing is amazing. i have been looking for a pedal that can go from tool to metallica to a perfect circle and this one nails it. i prefer tis over my line 6 uber metal by far. no noise on my amp and i have to keep the lound at 1-2 or it will start shaking the whole house(not just my room).

Reliability : 10
seems sturdy enough to me, made of metal, comes with 6 year warranty.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dont know havent use them.

Overall Rating : 10
great pedal. much better than line 6 and can go from kurt cobain, to tool to metallica with the turn of a knob. awsome

Simple stomp box. 4-knobs, Loud(volume/Gain), Low, High, Grunge(distortion). Heavy cast metal case. Good switching. Pretty darn sturdy.........AC plug or 9-volt. Im giving it a 5 because it is not easiy controlable in my set up. Too much gain(gotta set it way down compared to my other pedals). Too much high(hiss) but can be tammed. Needs to be tweaked alot different than my other pedals. Not a easy user freindly distortion.

Sound Quality : 5
Playing hard body Gibsons thru a Marshall JTM-45 reissue. Signal chain= Wah pedal(area-51),Bad monkey(OD), Double Muff(OD-Fuzz), Grunge(big noise), Small stone(phaser), Delay(digital).
This pedal is alittle over the top for me. It does seem noisey but its got ALOT of GAIN...Seems to work ok with other pedals. Im trying to make it work. I have to turn the volume gain way down or it just screams(takes over) compared to my other pedals. It has alot of bottom. It has way more treble--too much for my taste. I needed a neu-metal type sound for the new thrashy stuff. Not sure if this is answer? It just seems pretty uncontrolable, Not enough range in the EQing to be great? Its ok. It has a nice price tag. Digitech should make this with a mid-shift knob. It needs something more?

Reliability : 10
Digitech makes very heavy duty pedals. Excellent construction. No problem here.

Our band plays classic rock, Pop, oldies, new age. Played for too long-----im still learning. If I lost it --well, Id get something else. Would not buy again. I love the price, I hate the uncontrolable noise. Its built well. I did some research and though this would work ---good reveiws here at HC. Wish it had a middle eq knob with less gain. This pedal works for now. Im going to pawn it off to the new-rockers and get a more controlable distortion box. This pedal is cool. Its worth the money. Im still searching.

Quite easy, the grunge knob doesn't change too much the amount of distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a Washburn X-series with Floyd Rose, I use it along the Boss OD-3, the Digidelay, and a Dunlop Crybaby. The Od-3 is for blues and rock, and this one is for heavy music. (Progressive rock, heavy metal, etc). I think it hasn't attained a legendary status becasue of the grunge labeling. That is kind of discriminating as many people won't even test it as it says Grunge. Personally it doesn't sound grunge. For some reason Cobain used the Boss DS-2. They should change the name, it would sell better. For solo that outstand the rest of your band it us excelent, and for rhythmic parts too. But be careful with the treble on your amp, don't put it too high, otherwise harmonics and finger tapping would make you go deaf.

Reliability : 10
It is built sturdy and seems to take a lot of abuse. It is even heavier than Boss pedals.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Digitech

Overall Rating : 10
Excellent, if you don't a lot of money this is the best distortion you can buy. The metal zone is good, but is wayyyyyyy too overrated, and everyone has it, not a very unique sound, basic in a guitarist. For the price you get hell of a pedal.

Couldn't possibly be easier to use. I dialed in a sweet tone ten seconds after I plugged it in for the first time. The manual gives some suggested settings but most of them sound like shit. Be yourself, dial in your own.

Sound Quality : 8
I run it through a Randall RH100 head and a B-52 2x12 cabinet with celestion v-30s. I play an Ibanez S series with Wylde EMG's and an SA1 active single coil. It sounds great! Has a very full tone. I have never liked a stomp box right away like I liked this one. It just suits me perfectly. I play hard rock and metal. It could suit any musical style I think. I've owned at least a dozen distortion pedals and this one is by far the best. My last one was a Metal Zone. Anyone want to buy it? Nah, I'm just kidding. I wouldn't do that to you.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had it long enough to comment. It seems to be pretty tough though. Digitech makes shit to last. It may not work after awhile, but it'll last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them. I heard they're alright though.

Overall Rating : 9
I play hard rock, metal, sorta like late pantera or early metallica. But I also get into alice in chains, skynrd, even the dead, I play it all. I've been looking for a good tone that I'd be happy with for a while. I've been through a ton of stomp boxes, a couple different amps, and spent a shitload of money. I was even about to buy a new amp before I bought this pedal, but I'm not gonna now. Why would I? I have a relatively cheap great sounding setup now. If you're looking for a great sounding, affordable pedal then buy this one. You won't be disappointed. If anything ever happens to this then I will buy another unless I have the money to buy a good amp. Like a KranK or something.

Do not buy this pedal unless you plan on using the Power Supply per DigiTech tech support...read on for explanation.

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds great for what it does as long as it is working correclty. A one trick poney....gain level has very little effect. No problem I got it for high gain usage anyway.

Reliability : 2
I got this thing for Christmas in December. It is now 9 months later and it quit working correctly. I lost my LED along with some gain and volume after using it for about a month. Really haven't been using it much (maybe 15 hours since then).

Customer Support : 1
Completely WORTHLESS. They say they have a one year warranty, and 6 if you register within a year. Well I called them about my problem and the response I got was UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE. The guy at DigiTech said that they would not RMA my pedal because any pedal I get from them will eventually do the same thing. He said go buy an approved power supply and it would be fine. I said I don't want to go buy a power supply, I want it to run off batteries....:(( He just said sorry no RMA (return). I just bought a Bad Monkey....same line he said that the whole line of pedals are like that (Bad Monkey, Grunge, Hot Head, etc). I WILL NEVER BUY DIGITECH AGAIN!!! Needless to say that I took the Bad Monkey back immediately.

Overall Rating : 1
DigiTech will never get my money again...I have other DigiTech equipment that has flaked out, but they were old....this is rediculous.

It is very easy to use this great pedal. 4 knobs: Loud, Low, High, Grunge. It has a great design and its not perfect for rock...Metal is possible...

***when you change the battery....its very very very easy... not more than 30 secs... no screwdriver needed or anything...time killing.

Sound Quality : 9
Superb! It fit my style of playing very well (i play mostly heavy metal) Yeah, you'll get a bit of noise if u turn the Grunge to the max, but of course it deals with your guitar too... Mine is a ESP Viper, so there are no worries...
This pedal delivers heavy distortion, not matter what kind of metal sound u want, you'll get it here...

Reliability : 10
Its built like a tank...heavier than other pedals due to the whole-metal chasis... I own this pedal for a while now... and there seems to be no problems with it...

Customer Support : 9
Dont have to deal with them

Overall Rating : 10
Its great, honestly analog sound that doesnt ruin your guitar's tone. For 7 years, I have been playing guitars and have used so many pedal... this pedal really kick big time. If it was stolen, I'll find who did it and beat him up haah...

Im recording my demo with it (through the mixer output) and it rocks!
I luv it...and trust me you will too..
