4 Very well explained knobs..simple as pie.
no patches to edit..just turn the knobs to desired sound.
the knob lock is cool..fits over the knobs once you find "your" settings and all 4 knobs are covered so you can't accidentally change them..nor can anyone else :)

I use Gibson Lp's..gold top..studio. Wolfgang Archtop, Vox AC30 , Fender, Mesa...& much more :)
I have tried other reverb pedals and have never found one that actually sounded like a natural reverb.. until this pedal.. I am very pleased with this pedal and it will stay on my board.
It adds a wonderful ambience to any sound including delay..overdrive..etc.
Since I build pedals, I do have an idea of what people are looking for..so I figured I owed it to Digitech and especially Lexicon for their hands in this great sounding reverb.
The modulation reverb, which is found pretty much with all knobs at 12:00..sounds just fantastic for a pedal..no, it's not a PCM series..but close enough for a live pedal. Would work for studio work too.
There are some settings on the RV-7 that most of us will never use..but that goes for all pedals.
I will rate it a 9...since it's not a PCM :)

I play mostly Christian rock & worship music...think United live..Crowder..etc.. This pedal will surely deepen your sound.
I've been playing for...well...lots of years :)
I would replace this if it was lost or stolen.
I love the modulated reverb...it's not too much modulation..just enough.
This pedal is a tad heavy and it's built like a rock.
I've not found a reverb pedal that I ever liked...the only one that even came close was a Boss RV-5...but the Boss is not true bypass.
This is inspiring to play...very nice plate & modulated reverbs.
Buy one. for 100 beans...a great reverb for your foot...oh yea baby !

It's easy to try out different types of reverb.

I tend to use guitars with P90s or similar single coil pickups into a Vox AC15 (Korg era made in England) and a Crate V18 (Chinese Class A 15 watts like an AC15)
Pedal itself is not noisy.
So far I like the plate setting, but that could change with more experimenting.
The sounds are quite good.

I like this pedal.
Nice selection of reverb types, easy to adjust level, brightness, decay, etc.
Although it's true bypass, I'm likely to leave a reverb pedal on all the time, so true-bypass and letting the verb fade away naturally instead of abruptly when you shut if off are features I probably won't use.
But those features, the stereo ins and outs, the gizmo to lock your settings, etc. show that Digitech put quite abit of thought into this pedal.
Well done !

Easy peasy. This thing is great. within less than 5 minutes I had it sorted. straight forward. Leave the tails switch on, you know it makes sense. The little extra features like the velcro strip, stomp lock and low light glow sticker are in themselves inexpensive but thoughtful and very useful touches that I don't think anyone else has thought of...are Digitech tryna sweet talk us muso's? Yep, and I'm sold. The only thing is the glow in the dark sticker may be unnecessary as this baby is gonna be on most the time anyway....

All I can say is WOW....well maybe a few other words. I'm very fussy when it comes to what I play through (budget willing) and I know that what is heard is subjective but I would recommend this pedal to anyone. Been playing for 20 years, many styles, and this pedal will cover just about all your reverb needs. I would definitely buy this again if it were stolen, in a heart beat..please don't steal..that's bad, and you know it. The only way you'd get a better reverb would be to buy an expensive rack unit by TC, Lexicon or eventide etc. But hey, the verbs on this puppy are done by Lexicon, so.....the only reason I don't give this a 10 is because I don't want you to think I work for Digitech or something.....

I've used it with a PA and a 73 fender twin reverb, and I'm VERY pleased with the results. All the effects are pro quality. The "spring" is almost a dead ringer for real spring reverb. It doesn't hiss like some other rev. ped.s I've had. I have not been impressed with the quality a lot of DigiTech stuff in the past, but I read the reviews (I love this sight!) and decided to take a chance on it. This thing sounds flippin' great.

I play accoustic worship music at my Church, and 60's - 00's rock in a band. It works great in both settings. I use "plate" or "room" along with a chours ped. at the Church. I put it last in the signal line right before my amp and use the "hall" or "Spring" setting. It makes everything sound real lush. The only thing I don't like about it is that the "reverse" setting is..... well I just can't figure out what in the world I would use it for. That said, 6 out of 7 reverb settings sound great and are very usesful and controlable, so I'll still give it a "10". One of the best pedals I own.

Straighforward 'verb. I have a marshall reflector and an alesis quadraverb, both of which have their pros/cons, but this is awesome, combines the rich rackmount sounds in a smallish pedal - really lush rich natural effects, easily created without the need for the manual. Interesting battery compartment under the pedal 'flap' with a big hole down to the circuitboard. I hope not to get beer in there too quickly . . .

I have a twin and for a while wondered what it was i was after with all my 'verb effects, but the point is there's so much more to life than a spring reverb. The plate setting is warm yet metallic, the hall is huge yet not synthetic whilst the modulation, gate and reverse are not too weird to be unuseable. .. you find yourself writing tunes off the back of these sounds . . . i'm impressed. Not noisy, the 'tails on/off' option is a nice addtion - and so what if its not true bypass with the tails on - Can you really tell your 'tone is being sucked' when playing in a small venue with a full angry band? I'm starting to think the fascination with true bypass is being fed by people sat 2 inches from their amps, playing on '1' in their bedrooms. Get real. Whether a pedal sounds good is down to it being a good design, well engineered out of good parts, surely?. The main benefit of true bypass is that your signal is preserved if your battery goes flat. . . . excuse the rant.

too soon to tell, but its built very sturdily. I don't imagine any problems for a while. The actual footswitch itself, on the circuitboard is really tiny and i do wonder how many years of abuse it will take, but i trust digitech have done their homework . . .

The best reverb pedal - and i've played the boss rv's, the verbzilla, marshall, and more, and its better than many settings on the quadraverb (which is getting a bit old now , i admit). A bad reverb makes anything you run into your amp sound bad, but this can be as subtle or strong as you like and still sound rich. I love it.

Very easy to dial up a nice, creamy reverb. I have the first three knobs (from left to right) all at 12 o'clock and the reverb type set to hall. Sometimes I set the decay to 9 o'clock so the reverb isn't too overwhelming.

I am running this through the effects loop of my modded (no longer overheats, no longer muddy) AT-212 combo. My main axe is a Fender American Deluxe Strat with Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups.
There is no noise whatsoever from this pedal. I have tested it by switching it on and off with the guitar idle and there are no pops, static or any other noises. Very quiet indeed.

I play a variety of music as a hobbyist; blues, rock, hard rock, alt rock, jazz, and some metal. This pedal does well for all of my needs.
If this were stolen/lost I would absolutely buy another.
I love the construction, ease of use and of course the sound. I can't think of any other way to describe the sound of the reverb other than "creamy". The trails switch is an awesome feature as well.
The only thing I wish this had is an expression pedal input that would allow you to control the amount of decay; that would be awesome.

Amazing! First thing I did was compare the spring to my Fender Twin. Uncanny, I had to make sure the real spring was turned off. But what's really sweet is I can adjust it to be as bright and boingy or as dark and swampy as I want. Going into a Marshall MF350, all I need to do is dial up something bright and clean and my surf and voodoobilly needs are met. Of the other types of reverb I like, plate is my favorite but they're all outstanding.
I've been playing for about 12 years and own a plain vanilla Strat and a Jackson Stealth EX. I never seem to get as good as want to be but I can bang out a tune.

Dead simple to dial in, which is the whole point of going with reverb in a stomp as opposed to rack reverb. All the controls are very effective, offering a lot of interactivity between them which results in subtle shadings of the various verbs.

Despite years of trying, I???ve never had any luck with DigiTech products. This includes some of their early rack multi-effects, floor-based multis, and stomps. I???ll even go so far as to say I???ve pretty much hated all of it after trying without success to make it work for me. That???s not to say they don???t make good stuff. What led me to purchase most of the gear in the first place was how good it sounded in the hands of other players. It just didn???t work for me. The RV-7 is a completely different story, though.
I agree with DJD. DigiTech knocked it out of the park with this one. Kaman???s acquisition of Lexicon paid huge dividends to DigiTech with this cross-pollenization. The RV-7 is loaded with the sweet, rich sound of Lexicon. Is it a 960L in a stomp? No way, but it is unmistakably Lex. Most impressive to me is how well it handles saturated tones and the way your guitar just gets put farther back in the ???space??? as you add depth, rather than being buried in a sonic mess (and not in a good way) like most of the other pedal reverbs I???ve owned or tried.
In mono, this unit sounds great. In stereo, it???s astonishing for a reverb stomp box. I still have a Lexicon in the rack, but the search for totally killer pedal reverb is over. Traditional spring and tube reverb guitar players probably wouldn???t care for this, but for those of us into the digital thing, it just doesn???t get any better in a stomp box.

Not sure how this will hold up in the log run since I???ve never owned anything by DigiTech long enough to find out. It seems to have some real quality built in, though. Being a huge fan of Boss pedals (except for hating their reverbs) for the last 30 years, I have to say the feel of the footswitch took a little getting used to. It seems a little ???spongey??? to me. Not necessarily bad, and it works positively and flawlessly, it just doesn???t have the Boss feel that I???ve become so accustomed to. All the other controls seem like they should hold up well over time.

Don???t know and don???t care. No tech support necessary to figure out how to work this one. And if it breaks, I???ll buy another. And another. Even at a rather pricey $150 apiece.

I bought this to use in the loop of my Mesa Stiletto Ace Combo. The only criticism I???ve ever read about this amp is that it didn???t include reverb like its Lone Star kissing cousin. The RV-7 totally rectifies Mesa???s oversight. In addition, it???s getting use on the stereo outs of a Roland GR20 guitar synth (then straight to the board) and in the stereo loops of my Line6 Flextone II HD (dominates through a V30-loaded Marshall 1960AV stereo cab) and III XL 2x12. Line6 rocks, but their Verbzilla blows. Flipped it after two days. Boss stuff is legendary, but hate their reverb. EH Holy Grails are pretty sweet, but no stereo. The verbs in Vox???s ToneLab SE are killer for a floor-based multi, but the unit is pretty unwieldy and too much to go through just for the reverb. The DigiTech RV-7 does it all. A little expensive, but worth every penny.

Despite having the RV7 for just two days, I feel I should add some things that previous reviewers didn't mention. It's obviously a sturdy, strong pedal. Great thing is that it's true bypass, but not your classic type with the metal switch and the popping, but a Boss-type switch and a relay. The downside of true bypass in a reverb pedal is that the reverb tail is cut off when you press the pedal. The RV7 has a 'tails' switch which enables you to let the reverb tail sound even when you've switched the pedal off. This ofcourse defeats the true bypass, but at least you have a choice.
Stereo inputs are nice too. I could imagine running a stereo chorus in front of this and losing the stereo of the chorus would be a pity. Nice little feature.
There's also a trademarked 'Stomplock' supplied. It's basically a block of rubber with some holes to fit over the knobs. So no more accidental knob movement when transporting or accidentally hitting the knobs with your foot.
The pots are not the classic kind: they have 40 positions where it gently locks in to. I'd think I slightly prefer the old-fashioned kind, but then again I don't feel limited by them. And I think this helps the knobs being in place when the stomplock is applied.
Footswitch removal is very easy, just push the tip of a standard jack plug into one of the two release pins. Underneath you'll find a batterycompartment and the previously mentioned tails switch.
Other handy features are the supplied velcro, already shaped to fit the Hardwire pedals, you just have to remove the rubber on the bottom. To complete the package they've add a glow-in-the-dark sticker for on the footswitch, for visibility under poor lighting conditions.
I'm not going to knock off points because of the 40-step-pots, they feel solid and don't limit the pedal's performance. This pedal is very well designed, they must have pot a lot of thought in it. It's got all those little things that you'd not instantly think of, but come in handy when you're really using it.

They claim it runs on higher internal voltage for better sound. The Lexicon reverbs sound great! At the moment I'm using the plate verb, it really makes my guitar sound come to life.

I was dissapointed with the RV-7. I was looking to trade up to a better reverb pedal than my Line 6 Verbzilla...which isn't bad by any means. I bought The RV-7 because of the supposed Lexicon processing. Well, I retured the RV-7 and happily kept the Verbzilla. The VerbZ just sounds better, is fuller, longer decays, more ambient and lush, 3-dimensional. Many of the RV-7's reverb types are totally useable to me....Room, Spring, Gate, Reverse, etc. just don't sound good at all. All 11 of the VerbZ's are useable and sound great.
So for all the Verbzilla fans, don't bother with the RV-7. For the size and $$, the Line 6 Verbzilla is the best reverb pedal on the market.
I'm running an Orange Rockerverb 50 head and 2x12 semi-open back cab. The Orange has a killer spring reverb, I'm only using the Hall, Plate and Cave settings on the Verbzilla for clean volume swells and low-medium gain lead work.

Extremely simple operation assuming basic knowledge of reverb control. Sports 7 Lexicon verb sounds including Plate, Room, Spring, Hall, Reverse, Modulated and Gated. Controls for mix level, liveliness (high freq. control of tails) and decay time. Also has an internal switch inside for true bypass on/off where control of tailing continues or not when switched off.

I've owned this pedal a few weeks now and really feel compelled to write a solid review. Very impressed with the quality of sound from a pedal version of reverb, and don't be swayed by the fact it is Digitech...they hit the nail on the head with this one. For a pedal, it's a 10. I run this through the effects loop of a Soldano Decatone with a variety of guitars including Jem77V (both Dimarzio Breed hum's and single coil), Peavey Wolfgang, and Tele. I also have a TC M-one XL processor in the loop and actually prefer the RV-7 over TC's Reverbs!! Each selection of sound does a great job at their respective functions...my personal favorite is the plate with all controls at or about 12 o'clock...a smooth decay with out coloring the dry signal at all. Similar to VanHalenII tones. That's the best description I can come up with. Whether single coil, humbucker, clean amp or driven, I urge all tone fanatics on a budget to try this.

I've been playing on and off for over 20 years. Mostly blues based rock i.e. AC/DC, Led Zep, into VH and STP styles. I favor a very simple dry tone with some occasional phaser, wah, delay and reverb. Again, I really like the uncolored driven tones with the pure tails that this product delivers. Not the mushy blurry high freq. mess that comes out of most pedal versions of reverb.

Pretty good, maybe having Lexicon reverb effects gives it a certain mojo, but they seem to do the trick, I use this in the amps FX loop, virtually no noise when effect is switched off, no real click like you might expect from true bypass. Sounds amazing in stereo. Better than any Boss reverb pedal, and as good a smy TC electronic G-system reverb. No background noise, hiss, hum etc. Effect quality can be dialed in from extreme and pristine to subtle. No volume loss or boost when the effect is engaged - thank you Digitech

This would certainly be a pedal that I'd replace if lost, its exactly what I was after, and a good price. Studio quality effects in a stomp box that doesnt need programming. After wasting years messing with rack type effects I've sold the lot (including the dreaded g-system) and gone back to plain old pedals, but these Digitech pedals are of superb quality so I'm not missing out on anything that a huge and complex rack setup was capable of - less time programming means more time to play, and create music.
