KILLER SOUND! I have heard some people complain about it being only good for metal....uh....it's a "Metal Master Pedal". It DOES exactly what it SAYS! It's one of the BEST heavy-metal pedals on the market! BOSS Metal Zone can't even be compared to this pedal!
Uh, sound quality is pretty friggin' awesome!

I play all kinds of metal. Death Metal, Black, Progressive...etc Bands like Jag Panzer, In Flames, Sinergy, Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Covenant, Dimmu Borgir...etc and I think this pedal can capture the sounds of all these bands very well!
Favorite feature on this pedal is the "MORPH" knob. What an option!
Yeah, I compared it to the BOSS Metal-Clone (I say that because EVERYBODY has a BOSS metal zone), and it just blew the doors off of the BOSS pedals.
I have played & used ALL of the Digitech X-Series pedals lately, and I have to admit, they are damn good pedals. The Phaser pedal is AWESOME, also! I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, and have practically owned every "heavy metal" pedal on the market, and it's safe to say that the new Digitech pedal is a damn fine product! DAMN FINE!
Not to mention, this pedal is also a CABINET SIMULATOR! YES! This pedal can be plugged directly into a sound board, and used as a "Cab. Simulator". With many of the world's favorite "Cabinet Simulated" sounds available at your fingertips!
If you're looking at a BOSS Metal Zone pedal, I URGE you to try this new Digitech after you try the BOSS. You decide for yourself. I'm pretty sure you'll chose the new Digitech. If it's METAL you want to play, versatility, a better sound...etc, well, quit being a BOSS "clone". Try something new....Something that can give you a "true" metal sound.

This pedal is as simple as the come. Level, bass, treble, and Morph control. If you can't get a decent sound out of it you just suck.

I'm gonna use this pedal for recording and I'll use it live in my bass rig. This thing is believe it or not an AWESOME bass guitar pedal. I use this pedal and a Digitech Genesis for recording. I have a Randall Cyclone and a Marshall 4x12 cab with green backs. I'm still debating if I'll work this into my live guitar rig.
I've purchased all the distortion pedals. ALL OF THEM! The Metalzone (which is called the "poser pedal" around here, cuz it is for suckers) the Jackhammer (which is decent, lil better than the Metal Zone) the Zoom Tri-Metal (which used to be the best til this pedal) and countless others; DOD Death Metal, Big Muff, ProCo Rat, etc.
I'm a chick guitarist/front"woman" in my band. I kinda do a BLS thing. I play all the parts on my recordings, and have a backing band live. I drop tune almost everything, and this pedal is VERY well suited for that.

So far, this is the best distortion pedal I've gotten my hands on. And if you play bass and are looking to step up and be heard thru the mix, I can't stress this pedal enuff. I haven't really tested it live yet, but the recordings I've done have been most impressive.

This sucker is a noise maker!! I run it through a mesa boogie dual rectifier into 2 mesa 2x12 cabs. I have 7 guitars but my Les Paul Custom and Ibanez Prestige 3120 our my main axes. The knobs on this unit do not effect the sound much. The morph is simple enough as is the level but the other 2 controls do not seem to affect the tone whatsoever. This is one noisy feedbacking bad ass pedal. I use it to augment my distorted solo tone as an overdrive like effect. The pedal gives great sustain but you cannot control the gain/feedback so it can be outrageously noisy.

I have my doubts here. The foot actuator logo came off mine in two days. I bought it and apparently some fool at GTR ctr removed the serial number off the box so I could not get it warrantted or trade it back in for another.

This pedal sucks for anything else than bone crushing overdistorted metal. It lacks a gain knob, which is a major drawback. The "X-morph" does nothing other than changing the muddiness of the sound. But then again, it's easy to use, if you can stand the sound.

Terrible... You may be lured if you never had the experience of real power amps, and if you played like for 2 years. But in a classic setting or live situation, the sound does not cut through, it lacks body and warmth. It's noisy, but not overly considering the high gain settings. The sound is either to buzzy or sound to distant and muddeled. If you want a spirited sound, with alot of tone and that unviels every little difference in your playing, both good and bad, DON`T BUY THIS PEDAL! For a beginner who doesn't know how to handle a guitar properly, this pedal might seem as heaven because it flattens the sound, and you cant hear anything, good or bad.

I suppose it's reliable enough, I only used it once in a live situation, just to find out how lousy it is.

I have played for over 10 years, mostly heavy metal and hard rock, with a little experimental touch as well.
Once again it is proved that cheap stomp boxes, like this one, fail to create a convincing sound. I own half a dozen guitars, and as many amps, including an Ibanez 770, Fender stratocaster, a few esp, a marshall superlead, Mesa boogie dual rectifier, to mention a few. If you are short of cash, and need a good sound, go buy a V-amp, they are cheap, and offer a wide range of sounds and effects for a marginally higher price. But it's not as good as a real tube amp!

Very easy to use just as the other reviews said. The only thing that I don't care for on this pedal is the lack of a gain knob. It can get some great sounds but if you need to cut back on some of the distortion sometimes, then this pedal doesn't work for you.

I bought 2 of these to try out. I play with a 1990 PRS through a Mesa Heartbreaker amp. These pedals sounded real good for hard rock and metal. Very good sound. They would feedback almost instantly after I stopped playing...they feedback almost all the time which made them a little annoying for some of the applications I would use them for. If they had a gain knob I would have kept them, but I will be returning them today.

I play in an alternative~emo~nu-metal band and this pedal was okay for that. It was still a little too much (again, it needs a gain knob). It feedsback a lot and can be hard to control. I also play at church and this pedal definitely won't work there. Overall, for hard rock or metal I would give this a 10. In my opinion it sounds way better than the boss metal zone.

I got the metal master about a week ago and I must say I am very impressed with the way this pedal makes my amp and guitars sound, there is a wide range of sounds avaliable from this little stompbox and all are usable for hard rock and metal. I am thinking about getting another one because I really like the morph knob at about the 9 oclock position for leads that just sing and sustain, but I also like the morph knob at the 3 oclock position for big slammin chord work, this pedal rocks hard. Very easy to use but hard to make up my mind on the sound to use because there are so many possibilties, I wish it had a gain knob though, but for full on shred I think they got it right.

I use an Ibanez RG550 with a super D in the bridge and PAF Pro in the neck, an Ibanez Saber with a Mega Drive in the bridge and 2 hot rails in the mid and neck position, both guitars sound great into my Twin or Johnson JM 250. I also really like that it has a cab. sim. out that sounds great into my board for direct recording.

I have had no problems yet, but as I said already I have only had it for a week, have not used it at a gig yet but at band practice it sounds much better than my old Boss Metal Zone, much bigger sound.

I play anything from prog. rock to grind metal and some other styles but for the heavy stuff this is the shit, great for chunkin, muting, and leads, I just wish I had 2 of them so I wasn't stuck using 1 sound. I think it was well worth the price I paid and as soon as I can I will be buying another one.

I use a 2001 Jackson Soloist, and a Peavy VTM 120 amp head with a 412 sheffield cabinet. This pedal is a little noisy when using a wireless unit. It's nothing too outrageous. It has a great sound to it. It sounds good palm muted, and in drop D tuning.

This thing is built solid. I think it could withstand the abuse of any artist. It is a stompbox, so if you get into the music and smash it, it'll take the abuse. It has a six year warranty, so i use it without a backup. This seems very reliable.

I play a type of grunge/metal. The pedals name says it all. It sound edgy when you palm mute, and has alot of sustain. I play through a seymour duncan loaded 2001 Jackson SL-4 soloist, and a Peavy VTM 120 amp head through a peavey 412 sheffield cabinet. This pedal helps me make the style of music i play, so it was worth the money. I think it has its own unique sound.

4 knobs volume, low eq, high eq, and the "morp knob".The morph knob changes the overal tonality of the distortion. The cool thing about it is the output that you can plug into a mixer.

I have tried it through a couple of amps but my main one is a crate mx120r, and it sounds great through it. overall the noise is relatively low, straight to my beherenger mixer it has a little more noise though.the sounds range from a midrangy judas preist sound, to a good deep death metal tone, with some tweaking I bet niless guitar soundia attainable, and every other type of metal tone in between.high and low eq help to enhance the setting of the morph knob.Probably the only thing about this thing is that the distortion itself is pretty much full on so you cant get any other types of sounds but if you buy this for anything but metal/rock, your an idiot.
