Plug in, twist the knob, & stomp the button! What more do ya need?

I love the uniqueness of the Dredge. I use a TS9 as well as a Brian May treble booster, and the Dredge holds its own.

Reliability : 10
I got mine from John back in '97 (San Bruno House Party). The switch had a problem in '02 but John took care of me.

John is the man. When I asked him for a pedal, I asked for one similar to the one he had made for Brian (HKP & Butcher singer/guitarist) & John said no problem.

Overall Rating : 10
A unique and useful pedal which is why I love it. Simple and basic always works best.

just let me say that the Bass Angler overdrive is better then any I have ever used. Great smooth sound and it keeps all the low end rumble. Very easy to use it has three knobs level, Dredge "is the overdrive" and tone.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a SWR SM400 with the pedal and I did nothing to the frount end of the amp when I put the pedal in line. There is no extra noisy. I need it to get a little more grit for one of the bands I play with and it did everything I needed it to do. That low fat sound.

Reliability : 9
The pedal is made very good. I did put some tape around the 9 volt to stop it not to move around. Other then that, I can't say anything bad about the pedal.

I got it from pedalgeek.com on line. Free shipping and a 10 foot cable. I'll take it!

I'm in a trio so I needed something to get it fat when the guitar is ina solo. I checked out a lot of "GUITAR" overdrives and lost all the low end. The Angler stayed nice and fat. If I lost it, I would I would get a new one that day.

This is as simple as it gets; 1/4" input, 1/4"ouput, and one black chicken-head knob for "more". Up to about halfway it acts as a boost w some very subtle tube-like over drive (kind of like a Deluxe just befor breakup. Past half the real Overdriven tones kick in.

See Review in Dec. 98 - Guitar Player. I have the edgy version ( also comes in a smooth version which is more subtle). The edgy version can be easily converted at home to smooth if you wish- a disconnect. My style is blues/blues-rock. I am using an American standard strat with texas specials in to a Groove Tubes Soul-O 45 (52 watt hand built, one channel, 5881 powered beauty). This amp is very clean - has a master volume, gain and presence but acts more like two coupled power amp stages ( the drive gets into gritty-bluesy tones but not over the top). The amp is also specifically designed to be pedal into the front friendly. This pedal sends the tone into "Womantone land" -Think Clapton's Marshall Bluesbreaker sound. However, you must check the tone adjustment on your guitar or the sound will get a bit schrill as you crank the dial on the Dredgetone OD-adjust the two(guitar & pedal) in opposing fashion. The pedal does not color the tone of your amp but rather adds more of the good elements (in my case the Soul-O has nothing but great tones). The pedal act as a great boost up to the halfway setting, then pushes into great "Cream" then "Santana" like tones. Since there are no tone pots on this thing some amy find it limiting, but I find it a joy becuase of the simplicity ( I like to play not fiddle to get good tone). Use the tone pots on the guitar and you can get any sound. Leaving the tone at 8 or 9 on the strat will yield SRV thru the tubescreamer tones. This unit is surprisingly versatile for a box with one knob on it-it seems to interact great with the guitar vol/tone controls. Those who like lots of adjustments/knobs/toggles on their boxes should look elsewhere. I like it simple -Start with a great guitar, then great clean amp tone with tons of headroom and then add this pedal and your in tone heaven. Produces great tube tones!!

This is a hand built, hand wired unit built with high quality components. The case looks just like an MXR case but it's finishe in a beuatiful blue powder coat enamel w/ Dredgetone graphic that looks to be quite durable. The Switches are Carling I believe and the jacks are Switchcraft. The high quality circuit (as I was told by John - the owner) is designed to start breaking up just past the half setting as I mentioned above. The only complaint I have about the unit ( and it is minor) is that the battery rattles around in it's compartment ( all it would need is a small piece of foam glued in around it to take up the extra space). All in all a very sturdy little box and very compact.

Located in Berkely, CA. -Both John and his wife are extremely friendly and helpfull over the phone. John also build high end tube amps ( used by Charlie Hunter).John gives you the impression that no matter what you will be satisfied with this product or you can return it for a full refund -(which is all true). He is very helpful in his description of how the unit works and he also tells you that if you get the edgy version of the unit and want to convert it to the smooth version, either he will walk you thru it or you can have him do it. All in all John (Dredgetone Audio) is a very user freindly company to do business with. Check this unit out www.dredgetone.com You won't be disappointed.

As mentioned before, I play bules/blues rock. This pedal is great match for this style (especially SRV,Clapton, etc..) I have been playing for 20 years and recently paired down all my eqipment to the things that work, that I use, and are of high quality. I have the one Strat, The Groovetubes amp a vox wah, Tc electronics chorus and the dredgetone overdrive. Thats it, I got rid of my noisy boss pedals and anything else that bordered on cheap tone. I love the simplicity of this unit and my entire setup (use the less is more theory both in my solo work and gear) les stuff/notes, high quality/ a few well placed notes. I have had a bunch of other stomp boxes, and I considered the Stamps Drive-O-Matic, and the KLON centaur. The stamps has to many options and the KLON is a bit pricy ( but sounds like a great pedal).Nuff said - go buy one -how can you go wrong for $125 it really does sound great - also read the GP 12/98 review.
