This is a follow-up to my post below, i had my first 105Q exchanged by Musician's friend but the replacement one broke during my first set while gigging. NOT COOL!!!! this thing sounds ok in your edroom but if you actually use it, it will break.

don't waist your time, since i returned my last broken one i went out and bought a boss AW-3, it's much better product! it sounds good on both bass and guitar. it has auto functions as well as an option for a foot-control/expression pedal jack. it sounds good on both bass and guitar.
bottom line....don't buy a dunlop 105Q, but a boss AW-3!!!

i have an eden wt-400 and a trace elliot 410 cab, i can really make my p-bass scream like my girlfriend or moan like an old lady trin to walk up the stairs. the sound quality is superb with the Q control. i tried every other bass wah currently on the market and this one kicked all of there asses in spades!

i ordered it from musician's friend, the first one i got cut out when ever i steped on it. needless to say i wasn't happy. they replaced it and i havn't had any problems since. it seams very solidly built and since i've had it replaced it hasn't given me a problem. the only reason for a 9 could be because of the poor packing job.

the volume is a very precise control, it tends to be too loud or too quiet and it takes a little time to get it just right. the Q control makes this wah the best on the market. i'm fairly confident that it was a shipping flaw that caused my problem with it initially. damn fun to play with. you usually don't see a bass player playing a wah out at a club, i couldn't help but play with it for most of our last set the first night i had it. a real interesting sound at the club we played out at. nice funky sound. just do yourself a favor and buy it in person, it will save you alot of agrivation.

Simple to use. Variable 'Q' (changes frequency range) control is a nice touch, as is the volume boost. Spring loaded interface is both a blessing and a curse. It turns on when you you start to use it, and springs back and cuts off automatically when you step off. This comes in handy, but it also means you can't leave it in one place, and if you rock it to far back it might cut off when you didn't want it too. Manual is exactly like the guitar version, in other words its worthless. Really though, you shouldn't need it.

I love this pedal. Perfect to add a touch of funk to your basslines. If metal's more your thing, pair it up with a good distortion and you can do the rage against the machine thing. Depending of where you set the 'Q' knob the effect can actually be quite subtle, or turn it up for very obvious wah noises. I'm playing an Ibanez EDC-600 plugged into Hartke 3500. Great sounds.

I play in heavy-yet-catch quasi punk/metal band. Bass wah isn't always an appropriate effect for heavy music, so I don't get to use it as often as I'd like, but its great fun, I find myself looking for any excuse to use it. I also own a zoom bfx-708, which , among other things, has an expression pedal and both manual and auto wah effects. This crybaby kicks the sh*t out of it. If anything happened to it, i'd definately get a new one.

This thing is easy to use unless you have no feet. Two knobs for setting volume and the variable Q. A spring activated rocker pedal for the wah effect. You have to learn to use a Wah in general of course, but as far as Wah's go this is a cool pedal.

This is the ONLY wah that does not absolutely sound like ASS on a bass. I have tried a lot of them, and the rest really suck. The variable Q is cool, good for multiple styles, and the volume adjust keeps you from getting lost in the mix.

The knobs underneath are a little hard to get at but, I don't usually need to mess with them. Don't really know how I'd do it better. I LOVE the way the switch is and the fact that it's spring loaded. The easy-access battery box is cool too. I hated the old crybaby because of the switch and the way the action felt. I used Morleys until now. I personally have no problem with hitting the switch on low-end sweeps but I could see how less pedally inclined individuals might need some curb feelers in there or something. So, my rating is based strictly on my own experience.

I originally got this pedal for my friend so he would quit using a guitar wah with his bass. When it arrived I fell in love with it and decided to keep it for myself and get another one for him. The sound is most superb and changed my mind about the iferiority of Crybababies. Sounds splendid with distortion and it sounds great with every bass and amp I've tried it with , so far. Best bass wah I've ever tried but, I should mention that I've never tried any of the really high dollar snooty ones.

I'd also like to mention that I beleive you could make one of these operate like a regular Crybaby with parts from the web-site if you know how to solder and what-not. The housings are all the same.

You have the potential for an AC adapter and two knobbies on the under-side of the pedal: Q (Range of wah) and Volume. It only takes a few seconds or minutes (depending on how particular you are) to figure out where your preferrences lie. The only problem with this set up is that the knobbies are inaccessible if you need to change your sound on stage. I don't really have that problem. I find a setting that I like and stick with it. One thing that took me a little while to get used to is its springiness. If your foot isn't on it, it springs back to its fully upright position and bypasses atomatically. After I got used to this feature, I was completely hip to it. Its easier than needing for force down a switch. Also, the transition from active to bypassed (and visa versa) is much smoother. It took me a little while to train myself to get a really deep tone without bumping the bypass, but it was worth it. It came with the same very brief manual that comes with the guitar crybaby. I couldn't help feel mildly annoyed by this considering that it even included the little diagram that shows how hendrix used it, even though I doubt he had any use for a bass wah wah.

When it comes to bass wah wahs. This is the best of the few you have to choose from. It does a good job of bringing out the low end and making sure that everything right down to your low E gets as much funky wah as it rightfully deserves.

I've had the pedal for almost 9 months now and it has served me fairly well. There have been a few times that something has shifted and I needed to open it up and investigate, but nothing has ever gone wrong that I couldn't fix myself (and I'm ain't too bright at that kind of stuff). One thing that I find happens occasionally is that the springy thing may not always cause the bypass button to be fully depressed. This can cause a nasty, muddy sound that can be solved with a simple stomp on the lower end of the pedal. Mine has done this more often recently (like in the last month or two). It may be something I've done; it may be something that will just go away; it may be something that could easily be fixed. If it gets serious I'll update this thing.

I've been playing for several years and I find that this pedal works very well with my very funky, slappy style of playing (in the spirit of folks like Larry Graham, Bootsy, Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool and/or Flea). I find that I use it some while plucking, but I really like the way it can enhance a good fat slap-pop lick. I've been told that Flea tours with this pedal, but I'm not sure. If you're looking for a sound like Bootsy's, you're looking for an envelope filter (more specifically, the Mu-Tron III). I have both the 105Q and the Mu-Tron III and I find both very useful. I don't think that either renders the other obsolete. I love this pedal, but if it won't fit your genre, you should probably rethink it. This feels pretty obvious to be but I felt I should mention that this pedal doesn't fit in very well in punk or classical music or any other genre that strays far from funk. If I lost the 105Q somehow, I'd probably grieve for while hoping someone would take pity and buy me one. If that didn't work, I'd get it myself, bitching all the way. On a uncharacteristically superficial note, I like the white casing. It sets it apart in my mind. I haven't really compared the 105Q to any other bass pedals, but this one seems to be standard and I can swear on several people's graves that it is far better than any guitar wah wah pedal would sound on a bass. Don't think. Just get it.

Wah's are easy: wiggle the pedal. However, the position of volume and variable Q knobs makes it very difficult to change if you plan on using different settings on stage.
The manual was good, but not really needed. If you need instructions for how to get an effect out of your wah, you shouldn't be using one; "volume" explains itsself, and it only takes a quick twist of the "variable Q" to figure out what that does.
The only thing difficult about the wah effect itsself is the spring loaded pedal and the automatic shut off. It takes practice to do slow sweeps, and you must use a very light touch on your heal or else you'll hit the cut off switch. You also need to make sure whatever you're playing works ending in the heel down position, as there is no other way to shut it off. The good thing about this is that you'll never forget to shut it off and accidenly play something supposed to be clean with a wah tone.
The flaws aren't very hard to deal with if you practice, especially considering how other brands don't have a variable Q setting, so having it difficult to change on stage is better than not having it at all.

The Crybaby is a very good bass wah. It is specificly designed for bass, so you can use it without loosing your low end.
The Volume and Variable Q controls are very nice. Turning the volume up is great for soloing. Even better is the Variable Q. Keeping the Q up all the way gives a huge wah effect, while turning it down is subtle. Yes, a wah is a wah, but with this one, you can really get the sound you want.

My setup is like this Fender P-bass with EMGs and a crappy back up bass into a boss bass distortion into the wah into a chorus pedal with one output into a Peavey 150 watt 15' combo and a Fender Bassman stack. it is not to noisy but if you use too much distortion you can not hear the wah as well. I can get many different sounds from my setup my band plays punk and some old metal stuff however the wah really exceeds at playing funk thats really what its great for. Again this is a GREAT WAH!!

As easy to use as anything else. the only thing that i think should be changed is where the knobs are, i hate having to turn it over to mess with the settings because its connected to my distortion and it flips the distortion and sometimes comes unplugged and i hate having to do any more work than nescessar, not really a big problem though, just me being lazy.

I really like this pedal. its is very fun and sounds great. i play metal/ heavy shit in my band and i love it because when i play anesthesia i can get a wwwwhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaawwwhhhhhh very similar to cliff. if it were stolen i would buy another one. I really like how you can change the wah sound, i like it better than my guitarist's bad horsie wah where you can't change the sound, and are stuck with it the way it is. Like i said earlier the only thing i dont like is where the knobs are because im lazy. I wish it had a beer dispenser and could play porno movies too. that would make it the ultimate wah. while in most of the music we play wah isnt that big of an effect it is really fun to use, and thats what playing is all about, having fun. I would like to share a donut but i dont have a donut so i cant share it. too bad.
