Very easy to use. Just adjust the beautiful knobs provided, which are as follows: A Variable Q which allows you to contour your wah sound as HI or LOW; A volume knob which adjust the volume of the pedal, and then you will have a great sounding Wah. I had a lot of fun with it in the music store so i sprang into buying it. The manual that accompanied the wah was very straight forward...rock your damn foot back and forth....However, it is rather hard to resist puting your heel all the way back; which, within a matter of a second, the wah cuts out. With a little practice, I now can control my wah better.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass and a Crate BX50 for now. I love the Fender and don't plan on changing soon, but I would like to get a GK 700RB with a 410RBH (got any input on this, email me). But this isn't about my gear, this is about the kickass wah. The wah sounds great with my set up as it would with anyother set up. The wah has no noise at all except for the rich wah tone you recieve when useing the pedal. Volume and Q knob to the sixth line or seven o'clock, which allows me to get a great "cry" and with the volume on six, it matches the volume of my bass. Combine this effect with an overdrive pedal (I use a Boss Bass Overdrive ODB-3) it produces a great SCREAM!!!; which can come in handy for kickass leads.

Reliability : 10
I can definatly rely on this brick. I have never used, let alone, performed onstage with this. I do go to jam sessions and nothing has ever gone wrong with it.

Never delt with the CS fro anything.

I now play mainly slap for Funk and Hard Rock and this pedal can really cut it for both genres. I have been playing for about a year and a half and bass is all I do. If I were to lose this thing, I would get really pissed off at myself (since I am saving for an ultimate Gallien-Kruager rig) and go buy myself another. I love how easy it is to express notes on this thing since you don't have to click down your toe to activate this beast. My guitarist friend has been playing for a number of years now and thinks that is the best feature on the pedal; he plays a Vox Wah Pedal. I wish it came with an avaliable drummer. This thing really helps me make different funk from the common. Buy this if you really want to expand your horizens.

I think its pretty easy to use but I can see why people used to playing with the nonspringed model would hate it. You simple step on it to engage the wah and rock it forward to sweep high back to sweep low. The only trick is to make sure you don't take all the pressure of the pedal at the back or it will disengaged after a brief delay.

Sound Quality : 9
I think this wah is great sounding. The Q adjustment allow you to make the way very subtle or very expressive. The subtle setting sound real good on a bass line in a bad situation and the expressive make for a great solo/emblishment sound (level control can be set to make you louder when the wah is turned on). Sound great on high Q with my Ibanez ATK which is a trebley bass. While the wah does sound good on your low E, it does kind of lose it on a low B.

Reliability : 8
The whole case is made out of some heavy steel, tough stuff. Like all Dunlop wahs, your eventually going to have to deal with the pot getting dirty, then later wearing out, but its not that pricey a part. Also I've been playing the heck out of it for almost a year now and its still working great.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to call them and the dealer I purchased it at was very helpful.

I love this pedal. I simply think it sounds good and the Q adjust and level adjust are great features. You can go for wild like Flea and Cliff Burton or you can get a subtle breathing effect on you lines. The only drawbacks to the product are the fact that you can't use it like a filter by leaving the wah on a tone and taking your foot off it and the use of pot instead of the competitors light resistor circuit (but Morley doesn't have the Q adjust). The cool white color make it stand out from my guitarist lame plain one on stage too.

Spring loaded... where to begin? If you want to take your foot off the wah, and stay in that tone, this pedal will argue, and snap back into heel-down and switch off. There is also the question of feel, too, where you're not gliding the pedal, but working against the spring when you're going toe-down, and negotiating the return as you ease it into heel down. This is especially apparent if you are trying to do a slow sweep.

The other problem is the automatic switching. There is a button that is pressed when in the heel-down position that bypasses the unit (and, because it is spring loaded, the pedal goes heel down as soon as your foot comes off the pedal). This can be extremely annoying, again, if you are doing slow sweeps, because if you sweep to the bottom, you will hit the switch and, (after about a 1s lag) disengage your wah, which will jump from the pedals bassiest muted potion to clean tone (pop!). That lag is almost as annoying as the button itself, when I wanted to go clean for a sharp, solid note-on-the-one, and get a muted heel-down wah note, or, worse, have the attack wah'ed and then it would disengage in the middle of the tone.

All this in mind, the unit is not technically "hard" to use, but it is next to impossible for me to use it as well as I would like. As everyone is giving very positive reveiws here, I just need to mention these points.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm not that big a crumudgen. It does sound good; better than any other pedal wah I've found for a bass. That's probably why it offends me so much: it's a nice circut that would be wonderful, and a must-buy, if it were in a standard dunlop box. Instead, it sounds good but doesn't play well... it's a bass with great pickups and bad action.

The sound flaw lives in that switching from heel-down to off... which wouldn't be a problem, if the control was better.

I'm aware that these throw pots occasionally, but it is built like a brick (it's heavy... if you have room in your hardshell case, you will feel it in there). I didn't have one long enough for it to go wrong.

Before I get any death threats, I can't say it's a bad pedal, but it is all wrong for me. Good bass wahs are hard-- almost impossible-- to find, and this one is just not usable for anything I want to do. Intricate sweeps are fouled by spring-altered feel, tones can't be held (the pedal will snap back to heel down, and, after a lag, off) with the pedal left in place, and sweeping to the bottom automaticly shuts it off.

The alternatives are viable but expensive. The Moogerfooger Low Pass Filter is really thick and heavy, and you can dial in your cutoff frequency, pedal controling the sweep-- it sounds great, but it is a low pass, not a notch or band pass filter, so wah purists may not go this route. It has a drive control (and is a nice fuzzy toy when overdriven) and resonance... I like this pedal, but "feel" is still an issue as no one makes an expression pedal that feels as good as the nice heavy wahs...

The even more expensive alternative is the Lovetone Meatball, which is perfect in every way. It is another pedal-controllable filter, with selectable low pass/band pass/high pass filters, and you can dial in a solid and fat wah tone. It is also the greatest auto-filter ever made (in my opinion) and it is Bootsy's weapon of choice.

For me, and anyone who responds to this pedal the way I do, I suggest 1. shaking your fist at the sky, like Charlton Heston, and yelling "Damn you Jim Dunlop! Why did it have to be spring loaded?" and hoping that someday they'll build this machine with a solid, normal wah interface, and 2. Start saving up for a Meatball, which can be over four times as expensive as this wah, but will make your funk fantasies come true.

you don't get much simpler than this. you can work this one without knowing dick all about effects. forward- treble. back- bass.

Sound Quality : 9
great peaks on this one. ideal for getting the vintage bass-driven funk sound. some big-time slap-poppers might want to go with an envelope follower to get all the peaks in on time, but it's great for reproducing bootsy.

Reliability : 10
really durable, this one. wouldn't want a backup.

i play everything from primus to deftones, and this one works great by itself, and adds an extra industrial-sounding oomph when used with distortion. you also get no difference in sound when it's off.

i use my Fender p-bass special 4 string, run thru a Kustom KBA-20 practice amp, i know i know, its small, hey its all i got so give me a break. its the first wah pedal i have ever used or bought, after a while of testing it out, and playing with my volume and tone and ew and all taht , i managed to get an awesome sound outta thsi baby, i recommend it as a first wah pedal to any bass player looking to stick out of the croud

Reliability : 10
dunlop, this thing is built liek a brick sh** house, it could probably take on a nuclear haulocaust and still work...all metal, well most of it any ways..the only major thing - needs oil in hte pivot once in a while. besides taht every thing else is tuff...nuff said

i play mostly softcore, alternative and rock. ive been playing for almost a year, but i am well ahead of my suggested skill level. its a great pedal, and liek i said before, i would bye it if i was asking my self "i want a wah pedal for my bass" i own a Boss ODB-3, and it sounds GREAT when u run thsi wah before the over drive....i would definatly buy this pedal if it were stolen or lost, if i couldn't get another one, i'd probably bye a korg AX-1B as next choice of pedal.i love the oudn i can get out of it whne i put it before my over drive, it sorta gives it a distortion/wah to it, it wsounds great for solo's. probably the worst part ot me is that its too easy to use, i wish it had more knobs or swiches for tone, or something liek a 4 band EQ, sumthing to give it a little more tone....i chose this one because i saw it in the store window, and it was cheaper then most of the others, so i tryed it out, i liked it, and bought it.....It helps me make alot of good music, i can make better solo's, or if im playing the red hot chilli peppers, it is also very good for that.....and it sure doesn't get in the way of any thing.......its a good wah pedal for starters, well not always starters, but u get the idea....its a great pedal,,,,,its a must have in my list

Super Easy pedel. Volume and effect level. Just step on it. After a couple practices and shows, it gets real comfortable. The only problem is, I have to run it direct, and it won't work through the loop. but that's no big deal.

Sound Quality : 8
Great for anything Flea like. Great for slapping if you hold it down. Cool for solo's and select song parts. I use it with an IbanezEDC700 and a fender 300w/ combo. Sounds good. Just don't overuse it and piss off the other guys, cause then they will cringe when you go to use it again. Be tastefull - effects are mostly for guitarist, not us.

Reliability : 9
It will probably need grease in a year, but it's going strong.

All bass players should have it if they play funk and slap. If you don't do those things, save the cash and buy the boss auto wah. Otherwise get this because it's made for bass, the pro's use it, and it sounds better. In the long run it's more worth while for true funksters. Try tapping it with the beat of the song for some interesting sounds that don't ruin the songs. (something you can't do with auto-wah's.)

Easy to get a great sound out of if you are playing by yourself. I've experimented with this pedal on all settings and it just doesn't seem to cut through when I am playing with a whole band.

Sound Quality : 6
I use a 4 and 5 string Fender Jazz basses and an Ibanez ATK bass with this unit through a Mesa/Boogie Buster 200, then through a Mesa Powerhouse Jr. (12", 4x8", & a horn) and an Ampeg 4x10. I am used to the older types of wahs, ones you need to push forward and click on to enable, and I am heavy footed when it comes to wah pedals, so I rock the pedal forward until it can't go forward anymore, and that is how I determine when it is time to rock back. The problem is the effect shuts off when you rock it all the way back (which I know is a main feature) but makes such a drastic sound change, so it ends up not sounding so great.

Reliability : 9
Once the potentiometer came loose while using it at home, but easy to fix. I use it on gigs without a backup.

I play mostly rock, and this pedal certainly has tremendous possibilities. However, if I could go back I would probably not buy this pedal, as I now understand Dunlop has made a wah more suitable for my style of wah playing (with the stomp clicker in the front). The Variable Q can sound great when playing alone, but when you have to crank the amp to keep up with the band, I find it to be way too much. It severely overdrives the speakers.

simple, step on the pedal its on step off it turns off.

For a bass wah this is the best sounding one, best way to get those funky slaps and pops out of your bass. only little problem is only a couple times in like a month it might switch back to the origional sounding bass then back again for a second.

Reliability : 10
this would hold up, it has a good casing around it. but in general i dont trust wahs to be the sturdiest but for a wah this is a 10

i think that every bass player that actually knows how to play should have one, dont get it if your a beginner but if you want that bass line to really stick out during a song whip this white bad ass out
