Ease of Use : 8
Easy enough, I suppose. It does take time to find the settings you like since there are a lot of switches. The little manual could've been a little bit more informative also.

Sound Quality : 8
This wah is not noisy unless you dime the little gain knob or engage the red boost button. I never use the boost and I keep the gain knob at about about 1/4 up. I like some of the sounds. It's taken me a little time to tweek the wah sound I like but the ones that I've found are pretty cool. I like the Fulltone Clyde a bit more because it has that growl that goes with the wah.

Reliability : 2
I rate this low because the first one I bought would not work; when I turned it on, very little noise came out and there was no wah. I put in another battery to see if it was the battery but it wasn't. I returned it and was given a new one. When I got the new one, the first thing I noticed was that the back plate was warped in the middle. Then, I noticed the switch had a hard time engaging on and off. It worked though and I did not consider the switch to be defective because it turned on and off. As such I didn't return it. Lately however, I've had to hit the switch a few times to get it working. I definitely need to change the switch. These little things are enough to turn me away from using Dunlop products.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 7
I'm not saying this wah is bad. It has a lot of functions-and it's easy to adjust those functions unlike say the teese rmc-3. However, what really bums me is the reliability of this wah. Dunlop really needs to look at their quality control. I did forget to mention-when you open the plate up-it looks like slop inside there. The Clyde is absolutely clean in comparison.

It's a fine effect, i never used the two lower settings cause i dont like em, but the two high- settings kick ass, the highest almost like a D Crybaby, just a little better, the second warmer, fuller with a
slightly wider range, yet with thet cool Crybaby quack.
The only problem with that second sound, that i encountered, is that if you use it for wobbly rhythm sounds it may happen to mess with the singers frequencies (depends on singer if you have one in your band).

Reliability : 4
Now the bad thing: I don't know what the guys who wrote the revies above did, but my pedal broken two times. It's always that Knobswitch that dies. (cost quite a bit to get it repired - broke again right away)
I' m just getting it modified by a friend of mine who will replace the knob with a two-way switch, as i said i don't need four sounds.

see everyone elses, except the boost is orquard to change if levles bad for jamming

Sound Quality : 7
Great extreamly versitile except if the boost is on and you have something with lareg gain in front of it it starts to make a lot of noise and it pisses me off now

Reliability : 9
only problem is my own human error. It is very easy to knock the AC adaptor out of its jack in a crowded effects rack

haven't needed them its indestructable

Overall Rating : 9
if it was stolen probably buy it again because of its versatility after all it is just the boost that sucks

Ease of Use : 10
It's a wahwah pedal. Use it like any other wah, use your foot and put some soul in it. As mine was used, it didn't come with a manual, but I keep my boost at about 3/4.

Sound Quality : 9
I use an Ibanez rx-20(strat copy with humbuckers) through a cheap little peavey blazer 158. sometimes I use my DOD grunge pedal or a DIY overdrive I built, and the wah is still very clear. I've used my friend's Morley, and I think the crybaby is more articulated. I also really like the ability to switch ranges

Reliability : 9
it's heavy and metal. other than the pot, which will inevitably get scratchy, i don't know what would break.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't deal with em

Overall Rating : 10
This is a great pedal. I've tried other Crybabies and other brands(except for the really expensive wahs like Teese and Fulltone), and this was my favorite. It's got versatility and beautiful sound. I really feel it makes me sound better.

There is nothing to figure out. Everything is controlled by the 6-way selector on the right side and the red button that activates the gain boost, which is excellent for solos. All you need to do is hook it up and you're ready to go. You may want to buy an AC adapter, because it drains batteries in no time.

Sound Quality : 9
When the wah is activated, it adds a slight amount of echo, so I have an ABY padal before the wah, so I can bypass it without turning it on and off, since you have to press down hard to activate it. It is very low-noise, and it sounds great. When used with a fuzzbox, or a pedal with a fuzz effect, you can recreate the sound introduced by Jimi Hendrix.

Reliability : 10
It hasn't let me down yet. (Knock on wood)

Never needed them, hopefully never will.

Overall Rating : 10
For the money, this is an excellent pedal and an excellent value.

Very easy, step on it and go! Use the selector switch to get the sound you want and that's it!

Sound Quality : 10
The best sound I have heard in a Wah. I have an original Electro-Harmonix Crying Tone, and a Thomas Organ Crybaby. This is better. I'm using it in the effects loop of my DigiTech 2112. The 2112 ouputs to a Marshall Valvestate 8008 and into two Ampeg 4X12's. The best Wah sound I have ever heard. Checked it out against the Vox 847, Crybaby Original, Steve Vai Bad Horsie and Morley Pro this pedal is far superior. Guitars are a Les Paul Classic Plus, PRS Custom and Artist III and a '75 Strat. Just got it yesterday(2/7/98) so have only used it with the Les Paul.

Reliability : 9
I'll give it a nine only beacause I know the pot may need replacement. But other than that, it's built like a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't yet, hope I never have to!

Overall Rating : 10
As I said earlier, the best I've heard. I have the new one with the six position switch. I agree with others that I wouldn't use the bass position but all of the others can be useful. GET THIS PEDAL! It's the only Wah you need. As I said earlier, I have two "Vintage" pedals. I bought both brand new and have kept them in mint shape. However, this thing is better. The Crying Tone has a four position selector but you can't change it with your equip. turned on because the switch isn't make before break so you get a very loud pop that can blow your speakers. The 535 cures this problem. It's got a great array of sounds vintage to modern. It can't be beat!

Simple besides the unhandy access to the battery, but I got me a powersupply, so doesn't matter. Everything else is selfexplaining.

Sound Quality : 10
Awesome! Compared it to some others and liked this one best. The low sound setting is not so useful, but settings 1 to 4 are a lot of fun! In the high settings there is a bit of white noise that gets worse with the boost activated, but that is to be expected.

Reliability : 8
Well, I had the classic Cry Baby for exactly 30 days until I returned it, since the pedal started scratching. I know this will happen eventually with any potty, but 30 days is a bit of a short life span.... I decided to upgrade then, hoping that maybe the 'flagship' has a better potty, I'll see. (also I had the money to do so now ;-) ) I'll test it extensively for the next 30 days, that's for sure! If it starts scratching again it will go back and I'll try the optical ones. Considering that there's electronicts for only a couple of bucks and a cast metal housing can't cost the world, I'd expect Dunlop to invest a bit more in a better potty, but maybe I just bought a lemon, we'll see.
The settings button seems a bit flimsy, but the pedal itself seems extremely sturdy and the housing is bombproof. I'd give it a 10 was it not for the bad pedal experience with it's little brother

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havent' dealt with them as I returned the other one under the stores 30 day return policy. I do live very close to them, so they'd better be nice to me if I ever need them! ;-)

Overall Rating : 9
It seems to be one of the most versatile Wahs around, I sure like the sound and the optional settings are an addtl bonus. Havent' yet found a use for the boost, as I play pretty loud all the time anyway, but I'm sure ther is some. A really nice unit, easy to use, and if the potty keeps up a bit longer this tim I'll be as happy as can be!

Well, If you cant figure out a WAH, for GOD's sake become a drummer! Only the wah selector swich makes it a 9 + 1/2. (the drummer thing makes sense, because wahs arte quite rythmic too.) are

Sound Quality : 10
This is definitely the most versitile wah, and probably the best sounding no matter what your preference for wah is. If you play bass and guitar (or even just bass) this pedal is still a MUST. Get the 6 selector, its not overkill, its even better. My only gripe, to make this more of a 9 + 1/2 is I personallly think the full bass (heel) takes away too much volume. If you dont have a tendancy to occasionally put the wah in full throw (heel to toe in one swoop) this means you just easilly avoid the full low. But I personally have a small tendancy to full throw it occasionally, so I just put a SMALL peice of wood under the heel side, so it limits the low, and its even better, without worry if my mistakes will ruin my volume and tone. I doubt removing that little piece on the other side of the gear is nessisary at all with the tonal switch being so versatile. BUY this pedal! Its a dream come true. Buy one and become a wah junkie today! Oh yeah, a little bit of high end loss, but buy an eq for God's sake

Reliability : 10
I bout this thing will ever break ,other than scrachy pots. Gig freely!

It's a wah wah pedal, how much easier can it get? I got the newerversion with the six-selector.

Sound Quality : 9
It can get noisy on the Original Crybaby(High) setting when you pushthe pedal all the way down, but all wah wah's do. The six differentmodes are really great, very easy to switch em with a knob on the side. The vintage sound (3rd mode) is pretty good, It can get a prettydecent hendrix wah in the style of Voodoo Child(Slight Return). TheBass mode is kindof useless unless you're using the thing with a bass,or with a drop C tuning, or a seven string guitar with a low B. Though,I guess someone could probably find a use for this thing.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's die cast metal, it should last a while, I dunno if I'd use it withouta backup because of the plate on the bottom, it doesn't seem that solid.I've heard of the knob for switching the frequency ranges breakingoff, but, knowing how some people treat their equipment it's not surprising.I can't really give it a number, I havent had it long enough.

Overall Rating : 10
I would definitely buy it again. I really like the boost on it, and the factthat the boost can be switched on and off with a button on the side. Icompared it to a Vox, and to an Original Crybaby and I just liked thefrequency ranges it had a lot better, and the boost and that. This is theperfect unit, I don't want anything more or anything less. I don'tlike the idea of a fuzz being built in, I prefer to use a qualityfuzz box that's seperate from the wah.

Ease of Use : 10
This the mother of all wah pedals! It doesn't get easier than a 4-way tone selector and a boost switch. There are four basic, distinct tones that come from turning the selector: high, mid-high, mid-low, and low. The boost switch brings in a whole new range of possibilities, although the recessed boost dial is a little difficult to get to if you don't feel like removing the bottom plate. A green and a red LED tell you if wah is on/off and boost is on/off. Came with the basic setup guide/ instructions, warranty card, guarantee, product offers, etc.

Sound Quality : 8
Generally adds a bit of background noise when you're not playing, but if you use the 11+db booster lots of white-noise starts to show up in the treble position. No difference if you're actually playing. You can really hear the difference between each of the four tone positions. I have had the best results (read: sound) with the wah first in my effects chain (guitar-wah-distortion-etc.), obviously the more effects you have the poorer the signal. The pot is starting to get scratchy and the pivots are getting stiff, but a little switch-cleaner spray and WD-40 and you're back in business! I give it an 8 for deteriorating.

Reliability : 10
I've had people jump on it during gigs and jam sessions, some @$$hole hid joints in it, and I've taken it apart (boredom) and put it all back together (I think) and it still works! So I'd say I can depend on it. If quits on me mid-gig I'll just kick it will probably and it'll come back to life, or I'd live if it didn't, so I could go to a gig without a backup and be OK. Give it a 10 for durability/endurance.

Customer Support : 5
Never dealt with them, I usually repair my own stuff. And the warranty ran out last year so I can't bug 'em. If you can handle a soldering iron you can build your version/clone of this wah anyhow! Most of the stuff (pots, wires, etc.) needed for repairs you can get at your local electronis store, but I'm not sure about the circuit boards. Give it a 5 'cause it's easy to fix.

Overall Rating : 10
1Definitely buy it again (maybe in chrome next time). I love the no-nonsense way the pedal was designed, no frills very easy to use. Not much to hate about it beside the fact that it eats up batteries like gourmand. Comared it to the VOX Wah, chose the 535 for the options. Maybe change the boost dial, put a notch in it for a thumbnail or screwdriver to get to, makes live easier. My favorite effect, helps music and adds to it. 10 for all around value.

Ease of Use : 10
Easy to use, like all wah pedals. I have the newer version with 6 selectable wah tones and it has +11 dB boost. Has a rotary switch on the side to select one of the six wah tones: HIGH (orginal crybaby), MID/HIGH, MID(Vintage), MID/LOW, LOW, AND BASS. Boost is controlled buy a knob at the bottom of the pedal where you can control it from 0dB to +11dB(increase gain). You turn it on and off by a red switch on the side by just kicking it in. Both the wah and dB boost have a separate LED when they are on.

Sound Quality : 10
This is the ultimate wah pedal. I guarantee you that you will never need another wah pedal again. All the wah settings sound great and easily sound better than my orginal crybaby. I don't really see where the average guitar player will ever use the bass or maybe even the low wah settings but if you want them they are there. Aboslutly the best sounding wah I'd ever used.

Reliability : 9
I've heard some people have trouble with the wah selector, but mine's new so hopefully I won't. I still wouldn't use a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
I would definatly buy this pedal again. In fact this is the only wah pedal I'd ever buy. This is the best wah out there, it sounds way better than my old crybaby. I guarantee this the only wah pedal you'll ever need.

Ease of Use : 9
I used several different wahs, including a "regular" dunlop, morleys, and even the new Vox. The Dunlop 535 is without peer. It absolutely smokes any other commercially available wah. I've even tried the new morley "bad horsie "Vai" Wah, and it didn't even come close. The older ones have four wah ranges, from high(regular dunlop wah) to high mid, low mid, and low(for bass or extremely low range guitar). all are selected by a rotary switch on the side. The newer ones have a six selection switch, which almost seems to be overkill, but I bought it anyway as a backup. The unit also has an adjustable (on the bottom plate...but it tends to be a "set it and forget it" parameter-one which you wouldn't normally need to access) 11 dB boost which works when the wah is engaged. Both the wah and boost are acknowledged by LEDS when one or both are active.

Sound Quality : 10
This unit sounds very full and warm in all settings. The Low mid setting on the 4 position model has a particularly wide and useful wah range...simultaneously vocal and extreme. No other wah sounds as good

Reliability : 6
Generally good, but you need to be careful of the 4 (or newer 6) range selector on the side. Mine took a fall (from the top of a stack) and suddenly went from a 4 range to a 10 range .....oops. It still worked though. I had it fixed and bought a backup just in case...I had to use a loaner vox847...and it had a slightly more vintage sound, but overall it didn't compete. Other than this mishap, I've had the pedal for over 2 years and have had no other problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Store fixed it when it broke, so I haven't had any correspondence with Dunlop.

Overall Rating : 9
I would, and have, bought it again. The only thing that I wish it had is a "true bypass", but other than that, it's THE wah to own.

Select what mode you want (1-4) and Rock!

Sound Quality : 9
It is like having four pedals in one! They all sound good.

Reliability : 6
My only problem is the selector switch. I had it for 3 months and the switch broke. I sent it back to Dunlop they fixed it and got it back to me in about two weeks (good timing for my next gig). But the new switch broke again 2 months later.

Customer Support : 1
I called the company after the switch broke again and some lady said I would have to send it in again. She was very rude and not understanding to the repeated switch problems I was having. I wanted to speak to a technical person and she told me no one was available. She made me feel like another number instead of a customer.

Overall Rating : 7
I love the pedals effects and I guess I am pretty hard on the switches because I have a friend who has the same pedal for two years with no problems. I compared my selector switch to his and it looks the same. So maybe it is me. The only recommendations I would make is get a beefier selector switch for this pedal and new people to answer the phones. Especially one to replace the lady I spoke with. I would buy this pedal again if they made it with a new switch.

1 rotary switch to select mode of operation. 1 push button switch for boost. Can't be easier.

Sound Quality : 9
Slightly noisy at treble position, but all wah's are. Contains the original crybaby (high), mid-high, Jimi Hendrix (mid), and a mid low mode. The mid low mode is way low when the peddle is all the way up. I like the three first better. I have played a morley and this one is so much better. The boost is variable from 0 to 11 db and is switchable by a button on the side. A very versatile wah.

Reliability : 7
The boost button seems very fragile (a thin plastic switch). The potentiometer will be a problem in the future. I'm sure it will start scratching with time. Other than that, the pedal is to last forever.

Customer Support : 8
Have not needed. Based on other products and other times, their service seems reasonably good.

Overall Rating : 9
I would buy it again for the price I paid (I got the Chrome one, that retails for about $240). Probably not as classic sounding as the VOX wah, but defenitly more versatile (plus it accepts an AC adapter), and looks as good.
