Great variety without pushing buttons, turning many knobs, etc. Has the Fasel & a good casing. Input jacks work & don't wiggle with all types of cable too. Want to spend more time tweaking? Get the Ibanez Weeping Demon instead. Want to get a strong set of wah tones? Get this unit & save your time. It's virtually a no-brainer.

Sound Quality : 9
It gets all the sounds you want to get, from Jimi to SRV and then some. REMEMBER: it really is in your hands, your guitar's sound, amp settings and any other pedals or crap you have in your chain. Want to cut down noise? Use your pedals or rack in your amp's FX loop and only use this before your amp input: you will be surprised. I use it with Mesa Lone Star Special and Stiletto Ace combo(s), and with PRS & Ed Reynolds guitars with hummers & single coils. The EQ on this one is good with singles and humbuckers.

Reliability : 9
As long as you aren't tap dancing on the pedal, letting a dummy toss your stuff around or spilling beer on it: it should last a while. Every month or so spray it with tuner cleaner & you'll stay happy! Better yet: keep it in a protective pedal board case.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Sorry to have to give anybody any advice: wah pedals due to their parts and design just wear out if you don't kieep them clean & protect them. Haven't had to contact the company, but go thru the people you bought it from. They order more of this product and can put pressure on them or the distributor (if that's the case).

Overall Rating : 9
After 40 years, this is the first one I liked after my original Vox. It covers almost all the sounds I've liked too. Other than the Weeping Demon (too many little things to tweak with) and the larger Morleys, it got good tones FAST! If you use too many pedals, pre-amps, boosters, delays, modulation units, etc.: it will all start to sound like pink noise or mush anyway. With bypass, it will stay out of your way (and ears)when you don't use it.

Quite easy to use. More options than most wah's but still, not at all difficult. Give yourself half an hour to find the best settings.
The volume boost is possibly this wah's best feature.

Sound Quality : 4
This is where this pedal really falls down. Forget Hendrix and SRV. I'm not sure where all these rave reviews are coming from. I've had this pedal for about 18 months and have been trying to get good tones out of it for that long. Still trying. The tones are just not in there. Perhaps, when you've got your amp (or pedals) all set for a clean sound then the pedal is passable - with a tendancy to push the high end and scrimp on the bass, but as soon as you add any distortion, fuzz, overdrive or anything like that,(even tube breakup) then it is just really a pile or rubbish.

I play with really good gear, aside from a few pedals (good ones), I play a vintage vox AC50 amp, an American custom les paul and an American standard telecaster. I'm really into good tones and good gear. When I am playing blues lead for example, with a small amount of overdrive, when I switch on the wah, I can hardly tell if it's on or not!

To its credit, it doesn't get any noise in the pot when you rock the pedal. But it's far from noiseless when the pedal is switched on and off. And you'd better turn you're volume down when you click the 'Wah range selector' switch! BANG BANG BANG (not good for your speakers...or ears).

Reliability : 7
This pedal is very solid construction wise. It's a die cast stainless steel I think. Tough. The underside panel is a bit flimsy though, with plastic battery cover...a much more delicate underbelly than vintage wahs.

As far as the inside goes, mine didn't have any problems. Though being a digital pedal it does suck batteries pretty quickly.

Overall Rating : 5
It's probably easiest to sum up this way...

For:
- Pretty solid and reliable
- Has a good volume boost switch
- True bypass
- Not too bad with clean sounds (very little bass though)

Against:
- Rubbish with distortion
- Noisy selector switch (aaarh! Good god this is terrible!)
- Too expensive for what it does and compared to other cheaper wah's.

Summing up, save your money. I'm going to mod mine with Area 51 Vintage Italian wah mod kit (www.area51tubeaudiodesigns). If you're interested in a wah that's soft and subtle then save the dough and get a cheaper, more basic wah. If you want to play an authentic sounding 'Voodoo Chile' then get a real vintage wah, or go for the Area 51.

Fairly easy to use, the two knobs on the side could do with being a bit bigger though. Easy to get a good sound, it all sounds great!

Sound Quality : 9
Using a Cort G290 (EMG SA and 89 pickups), with a load of other effects into a Marshall MG100DFX. This wah just sounds plain awesome. That's it, all the sounds are great, you can emulate any artist with it, and it really wails!

Reliability : 7
I've had mine for about a year and a half and it's still going strong, I am worried about when the potentiometer breaks however. But it's lasted a long time!

THis is just a great pedal, forget any others out there, this is the ONLY wah you'll need, despite it being a little old-fashioned.

I like this wah very much, this is my first wah pedal. I bought it second hand and it still looked fine. The dials make it very easy to find your right sound and after 20 minutes you get the sound you want. The only problem is that there are to many dials. But I should not complain because that was the reason for buying it.

Sound Quality : 9
I've got the version with fasel. I think it is true bypass or at least I hope it. My setup: Jackson DXMG ( with EMG 81-85 ) --> korg DT-10 --> 535Q --> crappy cheap small amp. No noise from any of those but I intend to buy a mesa boogie combo soon.

Reliability : 10
This thing is rock solid and I would like to meet the person that could have destroyed it. Or better not.

It works, so why contact customer support

I have been playing the guitar for about 10 years now, but only 5 of them on electric guitar, I play a lot of metallica, iron maiden AC/DC stuff and it fits well with this style. If it was stolen I don't know if I would buy a new one, I don't use it so regulary

3 knobs - Volume Boost, the Q (Sweep/bandpass), and the 6-way range selector (emphasizes lows, mids, or highs).
You can plug it in, click it on, and play, but that's not really going to do much. Folks say it's 'set it and forget it,' but then you're forgetting about the tonal possibilities of the pedal. It can do a heck of a lot if you take the time to tweak it. You can get heavy metal-ish, guttural wahs and nice reggae/funk sounds that resemble an envelope filter. The settings in the manual are helpful - before I didn't realize the volume knob made a noticeable effect on the tone.

Mine's an old model, 18v with the knobs on the bottom. Pain in the rear to get to but Dunlop seems to have rectified that with the newer models.

Sound Quality : 9
Fender Fat Strat - 535Q -> Traynor YCV40WR
It's true bypass as far as I can tell - when the batteries die and you engage the effect, it's a mute switch, but it still passes signal. The sound quality is great and much more recognizable once you spend some time with it and tailor it to your rig. You can get anywhere from a bluesy wailing rock wah to metal and funk. Everything in one box, though not at the same settings.
The volume boost is a great help, it lets you sing above everything else in the mix, as well as get a little bit more distortion.
You can also dial in some nice feedback if you let it sit on the higher frequencies.

Reliability : 8
It's HEAVY. Like a gold brick. You could knock someone out with this thing. I would use it without a backup but there's one thing I wouldn't use it with live - BATTERIES. I've had the batteries die just inexplicably, you're supposed to unhook the input signal to stop a slow drain, and I do, but whenever I need the durn thing it turns into a 10 lb mute switch. Get a power supply!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with 'em, but they did take the time to write a helpful user's guide, so for that I salute 'em.

Overall Rating : 9
It's great for what I do. I play in an alt rock band, and I get really killer leads out of it - Great Sound. If it were stolen I'd track down that scumbag in a heartbeat and put in a few solid blows with the crybaby.
It's fantastic sounding but it NEEDS AN LED. With my earplugs in I can never tell if it's off or on. Maybe an easier footswitch, too - I'm 180 lbs and I have to lean forward with all my weight on my right foot to engage it.
The cheaper Crybabies are not worth it, no variable sweep, no customization, and worst of all, no true bypass. Get this one, I swear it's at least 5 pedals in one.

Pretty simple ... might take a while to really get the hang of adjust the Q-dial and range, but really not difficult to use ... all sounds from this thing are usable.

Sound Quality : 8
I play Fender American Deluxe Strat --> DOD Juice Box --> Crybaby 535Q --> Marshall AVT100 ... sometimes I use an Epiphone Les Paul as well, when I feel like playing Guns N'Roses stuff or whatever ...

Anyways, like I said above, every sound out of this thing is quite usable ... and there a some very good sounds in there ... but there are no really excellent tones, to my ears. Somehow even the best tones from this pedal seem to lack something ... perhaps just missing that genuinely musical touch, you know ... maybe it's the lack of a top quality inductor, like the Fasel or Halo ones in the Crybaby Classic and the Real McCoy wahs respectively ... I don't know ...

One sound that this pedal came very close to nailing was the wah tone on "Fool's Gold" by Stone Roses, using the Les Paul ... curiously the pedal almost seems to prefer the Epiphone to the Fender, which is very uncommon for wah pedals ...

Reliability : 4
This is a real problem for me. The plastic battery cover broke almost immediately, which is a nuisance ... it's now held together with blu-tack ... but that doesn't affect performance, so it's not a huge problem.

However, there is another more severe problem; sometimes (in fact, quite often) when using the effect, if the treadle touches the switch the signal just cuts out. This is a real problem, as naturally the switch and the treadle come in contact rather often ... though I have noticed that the problem is more occurs more regularly when the battery gets older ... still, very very annoying.

Overall Rating : 6
I've been playing 6 years, mostly rock, oldies, blues, etc ...

This thing does have some very good sounds, but doesn't work very well.

I'm replacing it as soon as I can unload it really ... probably getting a VOX or a McCoy instead ...

It's not a very complicated pedal, and i've only took like 2 min. to make it sound as i wish.

Yeah! well, what can you say if you're using one of the satriani's choise. In order i have Cry Baby 353q firts, then a Boss Metal zone and a dunlop phase 90, then i have a marshall 259 dfx, and it sound great, i can make it sound like a slash style without problem. you just have to know how to use it with the style you like, but you can go as far as you wish.

mmmm i have like 2 months with this pedal, so it has worked good.

Well... first i was looking fot a dimebag cry baby, 'cause i'd try one before and i liked it, and because is the Mike's Einziger choise(incubus) but in the store, i tried the 535q and it sounds as good as i wanted, and it was more like my style (80's rock and jazz) and the dimebag is like more metal style. and i'm glad to choose this, 'cause it helps me to say what i want. my guitars really cry!!
