Every knob on it says what it does... I don't find it difficult. The are some presets in the manual, if you want exact corrections (like songs of Dimebag).

Sound Quality : 9
Well... It does suck some tone, even if it's off, but... It works pretty fine with me :) .

It's got a lot of range and I think this is the wah for a distorted sound.

But may be this is not the wah for you, if you wanna play funk...

Reliability : 10
Got it for a year. Still no problem with it :) . I use all the time!!! Even when I'm not supposed to...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know... I hope I won't need that...

Overall Rating : 10
It's all I need.
In my opinion (as I said) it's not good for funk or similar styles.

Just got to play around with everything until you find what you are after.

Sound Quality : 10
Love it, sounds great. I have been playing 40+ years and finally found something new that I like better than anything I had in the 70's (and I had them all).

Seems solid like most Crybaby's. Hopefully the pots stay noise free over the long haul

I play all kinds of music. Well OK...anything from 60's to early 2000's. Not much metal, all things rock.
I really love the adjust ability of things, I've never had a wah that was exactly how I wanted it to sound...this one has the flexibility to find the exact sound your after.
As good as many of the boutique pedals out there as far as actual sound, for a lot less money.

It's so easy to get the sound you want out of this wah pedal. There are small black dials on the left-side of the pedal, you can use these to tailor your tone and control how much the wah effect enters the soundscape, and also one dial to control the level of the volume-boost effect.

Personally I roll everything up to "10".

I've been using this pedal for 6 months now and I've never accidentally knocked the dials or boost button.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an Ibanez RG321MH and Boss ML-2 distortion and Boss NS-2 Noise-suppressor. The wah did induce a little feedback, but I got the NS-2 and that's sorted out now. I usually roll the frequency dial all the way down to get the thickest widest wah, it's still easily audible wah for low to middle range playing, and when I get up to the high end of the neck, the wah filters out the "ice-pick" sharpness and smooths out the tone. High doesn't have to be like a hot needle in your ears anymore. I play a lot of Satriani/Vai/Petrucci style music and this pedal covers all of those, hands down.

Reliability : 10
Looks like a tank. Built like a tank. Smells like a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
I play a lot of mmmmmmetal and even though that's what it was built for, it easily sticks it's fingers into almost every other genre and hit's the spot.

I've been playing 3 and a half years, and I love everything about it. It's reliable, it sounds great and it's the sexiest pedal I have!

I used to have a Behringer "Hellbabe", I thought that was wah until it broke, then I bought this and I realised everything I'd been missing out on.

When I'm writing a song and can't think of where to go next, I go crazy with the wah and doors open up for me. This thing totally owns. BUY ONE!

I used to have an original crybaby some years ago, and i remember it being a 'good' overall wah and i was happy with the sound...good range etc. The DB-01 Dimebag Crybaby from Hell is an AMAZING wah. My only complaint is that it may be TOO versatile... it's taking me more than a few minutes to dial in my 'dream' sound. The adjustable volume boost is great and a much needed addition to any wah. The Q control, fine-tuning and rotary knob(for range) are harder to balance amongst themselves. I'm finding either my lower chords or my leads aren't 'wahed' enough; i haven't found that perfect middle ground yet. BUT what sweet tones this thing can produce. Could be very aggressive or buttery smooth, when tweaked.

Sound Quality : 10
ESP and Schecter 7-strings --INTO-- ISP Decimator(noise gate) --INTO-- Crate 3500 shockwave (wah in effects loop)

I am very fussy with noise issues, and this thing(amazingly not true-bypass) is quiet and doesn't alter my tone one bit. Other amps may experience some noise etc but I don't even know it's there when in bypass, and that's a great thing.

Just don't adjust the rotary knob with the amp on. I got LOUD popping. like speaker-popping loud.

Reliability : 9
They should use these tanks in Iraq. Bulletproof.

Customer Support : 9
Didn't get a manual with it being used, but PDF manual is on website(good thing). Never had to contact customer service otherwise.

Overall Rating : 9
I play low tuned metal with both a classic and thrashy distortion, and this sounds great with both tones. Buttery and orgasmic in my clean channel when EQ'd right. Again my only complaint is dialing in a good 'middle ground' sound for both leads and rhythms.

the boost switch broke before I even plugged it in. purchased brand new, and was inspecting all the knobs/switches. When I pressed the boost knob....it busted....and pushed all the way into the pedal. not real impressed by the quality of that switch....and had me wondering about the overall quality and reliablity of the pedal

called dunlop about the broken switch - got hold of a representative immediately (which was nice). they didn't really want to help me though....told me to call the retailer where I purchased it from.

When it came out of the box I did have to do some reading from the manual to understand what all the little knobs did and what were all the parameters were for the sweep control. Hell still I have to sit down and tweak the pedal to my tastes, I've just been really lazy. The manual defiantly comes in handy, don't throw that shit out!

Sound Quality : 9
My setup is: Krankenstein Head
Marshall Valvestate 4x12 Cab
Gibson Studio Les Paul with JB in bridge

You can defiantly get the Dimebag in your face wah sound out of this. But that ain't its only good use, it serves as a versatile wah that isn't in a expensive rack mount form. I love the heel switch to boost the gain. It gives you a great cat screech sound. I've played many wahs and this one tops it. Many array of classic to modern wah tones. What really bothers me is how this pedal, and most of Dunlop's pedals don't have true bypass. It does alter the tone ever so slightly since the crybaby from hell is a buffered bypass. Maxon makes all their effects with True Bypass why can't the great Jim Dunlop...........

Reliability : 10
I defiantly could depend on it. I rough my pedal up like hell and this one has served me for 4 months with absolutely no problem. My last wah lasted that long before I killed the switch. Would i gig without one? Yes, only because I could make do without one if it did break.

I play Metal to Classic Rock to Blues and this is a MATCH. I love how this thing is built like a tank, the skateboard griptape, the heel switch, the camo casing, the cowboys from hell logo. Great pedal, Great Tone. Go out to your local music store, and Try and Buy this thing.

These guys like to make things complicated
but I like fiddling around with gear, but still a little crazy with the knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
here's where this pedal rocks, yeah and it doesn't suck tone
you just got to tweak it, could take you a couple of weeks before you realize what sounds best. I like in your face nastiness and the dimebag delivers, and yes I tried the Zakk before purchasing, I also own the original crybaby which is still a wah , the boost also works great.
I've got a major ass set up and I have no issues with this pedal at all

I've had it for a year now , no issues so I'll give it an 8 , just way too many knobs

Ive had this pedal for 6mo and the ease was diff to figure out at first but the sound and training the ear to it helps the real problem is it has static when pedal is rocked up and down very very annoying i have to send it in to be repaired. anotherwards when you rock it you can hear the rocks in static i have had to quit playing live with it becouse it makes me sound very cheap but we all know this pedal was not cheap. morley bad horsey lasted for 2 years 2hrs a day and 4-6 hrs on fri sat nites sorry dime and dunlop but love ya anyway. im sure ill be taken care of through the warranty.

I have mixed feelings about this wah pedal. When I first got it a year ago I was impressed but it has also given me some frustrations.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this along with a boss OD2, EVH MXR phase 90 and MXR flanger into a JSX combo with DD6 delay in the effects loop. I own two wahs, an original crybaby and the Dime Wah.
The pedal is not that noisey so its good on that count and as someone also mentioned doesn't disrupt the effects chain noise or tone too much.
What I like and dislike about this wah is the variable controls. Its nice to have greater flexibility but then I have found Ive lost some good setups and have to continually tweak it to get them back. I like the idea of different EQ settings in principle but I find myself wanting more top end sweep on the low EQ settings and wanting more bass on the treble settings? Even when I tweak the fine tuning etc. It might just be me, but for sheer simplicity and great tone, my old classic crybaby just plugs in and plays great wide sweeping tones, particularly when distorted.
The volume boost hardly makes a difference on my model. I dont know, its a great pedal but Im always tweaking with it...I guess Id prefer something simpler or if the EQ setting knob could be set to sweep through ALL of that range rather than individual ranges.

Reliability : 10
Its dunlop, you could run over it in a truck.
Its got skateboard tape and camoflage - Id depend on it even in a war.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
I play a range of styles and have been playing for 20 years. I mainly play classic rock through to SRV through to alternative. My setup and the issues I have with this pedal are noted above.
I love its attitude and appearance - I love ots versatility and tone but I dont like its lack of simplicity and the ease with which I tend to loose its sweet spot settings. I do prefer my old original crybaby for that plug n play scene but that said the dime is more versatile.
Eitherway its helped me make music and my gripes about it are minor so I can only give it a high rating.

Its not hard to figure out. I give it a 9 just because its got a few knobs that need to be figured out to know what your doing. Its not your classic plug in and your stuck with that sound wah.

Sound Quality : 10
I went out to buy the best wah I could find for under $200. I dont really play metal, and although I respect Dime greatly, and his playing, Im not that influenced by him. I play anything from Jazz to Hard rock, mainly blues rock. Almost no metal, but I still choose this pedal because it works so great with both clean and distortion, because it can be customized to your likings, and because its really quiet.

Looks and feels well built...

I found that most of the wahs for my budget was great clean but didnt really match with my distortion/overdrive pedal. This pedal takes th best of both worlds and makes them bot accessible with a few knobs that are simple to use. The clean is great for Jazz, Funk, and Blues. As a matter of fact I thought it was the best clean wah out there, yet its the Dimebag signature model so you know it can be used with anykind of distortion and overdrive. The boost switch is great too. Not only can you boost your wah signal for a solo, but you can cut it so if your doing a rhythm part with a wah and a solo with no wah you can have the volume go up when you turn your wah off. Handy, reliable, accessible, affordable, realistic and versatile. So far my favorite wah pedal.

compared to a basic wah it takes a few extra minutes to figure out the other bells and whistles but not that difficult. Its like having a wah and a eq built into one.On a helpful note 1).turn the variable q and fine tone clockwise to the max for that wider sweep so you can hear the wah clearly if not it just gonna sound narrower depending on your taste.2). Turn the big freq knob clockwise for a bassier wah which is great for playing in the heel back posistion and counter clockwise for a more screaming lead tone in the toe down posistion and everything in between. Also believe it or not i've actually got a pretty cool rythem sound by turning the eq knobs in the bass posistion while the pedal is push all the way down towards the treble giving you some kind of nasal/boston tom scholtz type of sound.

Sound Quality : 10
I not worried about sounding like other guitar players but it does the job. My guitars are a black gibson les paul standard, cort les paul copy and epiphone les paul plugged into marshall valvestate amps.I also use a marshall BB-2 booster box for extra amp gain so i really dont have much use for the wahs built in vol boost.of course it's gonna sound noisy when you have 3 types of gain on top of each other but i can control all of that.I use more of a low midrange setting on the wah because it sounds more vocal and ballsy just the jimi hendrix model and i can get it to sound even deeper than that with the q adjustments.

Reliability : 10
i've used this pedal in the studio and quite a few open mike nights and had no problems.I would still use a backup i carry my dunlop hendrix wah just in case of emergency and i have 2 other wahs on top of that as well.

Ease of Use : 10
Extremely easy to use. One guy said it took him two weeks to find his sound. It took me about 10 minutes.
I put the variable knob (sweep range) on full, the fine tune knob (treble) on full, the big knob (a selection of wah tones) two notches back from full (giving a fatter sound but still clear), the red button in to engage the volume knob, and the volume knob at about eight o'clock to compensate for any volume drop.
The result is an original cry baby sound but much fuller, smoother, and there's no drop in volume. The range might be a bit wider too.

Sound Quality : 10
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT BETTER THAN MY OLD ORIGINAL GCB-95 CRY BABY.
I hated my old cry baby because it sounded thin, volume dropped a bit, and the wah was mild sounding.
The Dimebag sounds fatter yet clear, smoother, louder and its way more versatile.
I learned something else. I usually put the wah before my distortion and overdrive pedals. When I put the wah AFTER the distortion/overdrive pedals, it sounded more extreme and gave me that Hendrix sound. It sounds more like the "White Room" wah too.

Reliability : No Opinion
If it's like the other Dunlop wahs it'll be indestructable but I can't say yet cause I just bought it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Can't say.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing professionally for 30 years and I use vintage Strats and vintage Fender tube amps. I've got the sounds I need with this pedal WITHOUT it sounding thin or too quiet. It's not true bypass but I CANNOT hear the difference in sound between the wah in the equation or removed.
With the wah placed AFTER my distortion/overdrive pedals, I get all the classic Hendrix/Clapton sounds I need.
What I would like to do someday is A/B this Dimebag pedal with the Snarling Dogs Blues Bawls wah. I've heard it's also very versatile plus it has true bypass AND a built in overdrive. Some say the Snarling Dogs have not been reliable. The Snarling Dogs can be very cheap on Ebay. The only thing is the Snarling Dogs need a bit more room in the pedal box and I'm maxed out for room.
If anyone out there has compared the Snarling Dogs wah to the Dimebag wah, please put a review in here with your results. Thanks.

It is a quite simple product to use if you understand what each dial does......even if you dont it still is quite simple.....select a frequency, add boost tune the q and fine tune it and your set, the manual is pretty straight foward. should come with some artist settings though, try it in a new light.

Sound Quality : 9
Its a great sounding wah pedal, you can go from fat broad sounds to tight shrill high end squeals, great harmonic range.decent sweep.....It is quite easy to set up to mimic a various amount of other dunlop pedals. Love the indicator lights on the base. it nice not having to worry if its on or not....the double input jacks are kinda a waste of space in pedal board applications but it might be nice for single setup i guess

Reliability : 10
Its a great pedal built like a tank just like all dunlop wah pedals (I have 3) I stomp on this all the time and shows no signs of lettin up just like all my other dunlops im not afraid to step on it with some force

Never really had to deal with them on a repair or faulty pedal yet so dont know....as far as me asking them questions i get a quick response and i get answered properly..

I feel strange for not giving 10 in this category for a wah pedal =)
but that's how it is: you got Fine Tune, Variable Q, Volume Boost and six wah frequency types to choose from. It's NOT a straight-out-of-the-box pedal.
Fine tune for treble,
Q for sweep range
Volume =)
and six wah modes

TAKES time to find THE sound, and then to fine tune it.

But if you won't find the sound, well, nail me to the wall.

Sound Quality : 10
First off, to all the guys thinking like The-Guy-Below: if you play it less than 10 minutes for some strange british music, well, you might feel disappointed!!! It's DIME SIGNATURE model for raw metal!!! Also 'it-doesn't-sound-like-Jimi-Hendrix' people, get off... damn, it's NOT a JH model!!!! And someone had already mentioned this before.
And try putting it BEFORE distortion :P

Setup: Ibanez RG470>Boss CE-5>DB01>Boss MT-2>DigiDelay>Marshall CD50

Anyway, I think it's suits alt music as well as raw metal =) it's gread for rock, funky, acoustic...
This is a monster that will eat each kind of music!

Maybe reggae maniacs won't find it perfect, but well... did Dime play reggae??

Seriously: wide range of wah types; sweet sounds, not buzzing when on; perfectly spatial, does not suck tone (like Zakk's model I played!) cuts easily thru distortions, cries subtly on clean and/or chorused sounds.
You find the tone you need, you tune it, you play it. Subtle or ears-attacking, whatever you want... an agressive baby :)

Moves earth when distorted.
Moves heart when clean.

The ultimate wah.

With camo finish =)

Reliability : 10
Seems to be a tank =)

On it's first gig some two jumping guys fell down straight on it, and the only result was they managed to 'put out' =) two front of four of these little rubber wheels that protect the wah from skimming around. That's why I think they hit it quite hard, heh, but I replaced the rubber and it's brand new again. Works, sounds, even the painting hadn't been scratched.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Neva eva contacted them, and hope I won't need to.

Some of you complain on the manual.. well you're right, they could have put some more information about the way the knobs work, about what they do. But - use your ears.

Overall Rating : 9
I play mainly hard rock... but actually me and guys play anything if we had such will... come on, this unit is an ultra-wah!

Been playing for six years, I encountered also Classic Crybaby, Morley ProSeries II and some DOD crap, and nothing even comes close.

If stolen, I probably would not replace it with another DB01, cause here in POLAND I had GALACTIC (read: not from this world =) problems with getting this one and I don't dream about getting a new one, that is waiting nearly 5 months, paying two my salaries, and ordering 'in advance' one of - this one is real - SIX (6) that finally were brought to the country. F**K polish dealers.

So if stolen, I'd do anything to get one again... from Germany, for example =)

The only thing... Like all Crybabies, the input jack is placed at the side of the effect, and this is a thing I will never understand.. come on, it sucks! Why not placing it on the front panel, like in stompboxes?
It really bothers me, having tones'o'wires under my feet. Thanks GuitarGod, it's not causing other problems (yet=) but that's why I give it 9 here.

Very easy to use. Very feature packed but well laid out.

Sound Quality : 1
My set-up consists of a Gibson Les Paul Custom stripped down and oiled to give a more organic, resonant tone with the EMG Zakk Wylde set installed. A Peavey 5150 block logo head and a marshall 4x12 with celstion vintage 30's. I use monster cables. A Zakk Wylde crybaby wah, Boss NS-2 Noise supressor, TU-2 tuner, CS-5 chorus in the front and a GE-2 graphic eq in the fx loop to kick the mids and volume a little for a solo boost.

I bought the Dime wah because it has a built in 17 db boost which is switchable independantly from the wah plus it has loads of control over parameters such as wideness of sweep and also frequency of sweep. But after using the Wylde wah for a while, throwing the Dime wah into the mix, it sounds really sterile and thin in comparison. When its kicked it, all the bottom end drops out and becomes a bit lacking in the low end( the boost is a little noisy to ). Its great if you want a nasty cutting cronky tone but if your after a big, fat sound and are more into big tone go for the Wylde, but if you want all out nastyness metal, the Dime is for you. Didnt blow my skirt up if you know what I mean.

I gotta disagree with a lot of the reviewers here about the ease of use of this pedal. While it's definately not rocket science, and anyone with a rudimentary understanding of what all the knobs do will be able to figure it out in short order, it's just as easy to get a bad sound as from this thing as it is to get a good sound. I had to live with the pedal for a good few weeks before I was happy enough with the tone to add it to my pedalboard.

That said, the pedal is pretty simple to use once you've got it dialled in. The extra features unique to this model (skateboard griptape, etc) are all handy come gig time.

Sound Quality : 9
Once dialled in to suit my rig, the sound quality of this pedal is pretty awesome. I'm a big fan of Dime's, but don't play anything like him (our band plays everything from country to blues to rock and pop) and this pedal seems to suit most styles fine. It's not vintage sounding, but then it's not supposed to be.

Reliability : 9
Built like a tank, and designed to gig, and be gigged hard. I've certainly not taken it easy on the pedal, and it's shown no signs of failure. My only grip is the flimsy metal plate on the bottom - I had this pedal mounted to a pedalboard with velcro strips up the middle, and taking it off the board caused the plate to bend alarmingly. I've since stick velcro to the four rubber feet instead, but haven't had enough playing time with it to tell if this is a good solution yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to, wouldn't expect much of them. If it breaks, I'll take it to the local store who'll fix it.

Overall Rating : 9
Great pedal, with more features than I really need. I'll probably get another wah down the line, either a Teese RMC2 or a Prescription Wah. Still, this thing is just so damn cool that I'll never sell it, it'll end up on display in my bar if I stop using it.

Basicall i bought this pedal instead of the 535Q after reading the reviews here, and boy did i make the right decision... i use a Jackson performer series 2 and a Esp LTD ex-50 with EMg 81's pluged into the DB-01 , MT-2, GE-7 ,DD-6 and lastly throuhg a passive BOSS vol pedal... Mechanically speaking, this is a pretty simple unit to use. You step on the pedal hard enough to activate the switch, rock the pedal back and forth to manipulate the wah and step hard on it again to turn it off.
However, there are quite a few more knobs and switches here than you'll find on other wahs. There is a six position "Q" knob on the right of the pedal that changes the wah frequency. There is also a red button on the bottom right of the pedal that acts as a boost. On the left there are smaller knobs for Boost Volume, Adjustable "Q", and a fine tune adjustment.
I bought the unit used and had to download the manual off the Jim Dunlop website. Contrary to what most have said I thought the manual was quite helpful. There's a lot of shit to tweak on this thing so it helps to know what each feature is designed to do. After reading the manual working with the pedal made alot more sense, which is what a manual should do.

Sound Quality : 10
Right now I have two main guitars, an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and a Schecter C1+. Both are equipped with EMG pickups. An 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the Neck. My signal goes into a Boss TU-2 tuner---> Dunlop DB-01 CFH wah---> Robert Keeley Modified TS-9---> Boss Super Chorus---> Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor--->5150 Block Letter Head---> Marshall JCM 800 1960A Cabinet. Everything is connected with Monster 500 cable and Monster 1000 speaker cable.

I have noticed in the past that wahs are, typically, pretty noisy effects anyway so comparitively I wouldn't say this is any more noisy than any other wah. . . .unless you have the boost activated on a clean amp setting, which is a pretty stupid thing to do anyway. Most wahs are going to add a bit of gain/boost to your signal when activated so in sense you're already boosting your signal just by turning the thing on! Kicking in the boost is just not smart on a clean setting. Now, I wouldn't know but I'm guessing that Dime didn't really have a clean and funky amp setting in mind when he was co-designing this monster. Although, with some tweaking, you can get a really nice and mild setting that works well with the clean.
Now on a dirty/lead setting this thing really comes alive. The boost is a great feature because it acts as an overdrive to add a little more gain and some thick sustain. This way I don't have to turn on the TS-9 in addition to the wah. It does it for me! I bought this wah to replace a Moreley Bad Horsie because I was looking something with more range and a wider sweep. This thing delivers not only that but also offers a tone so great that I can't belive I ever used the Morley. I can get some very vocal characteristics out of it and nail some of the same tones I hear Zakk, God Forbid, and Unearth pulling off on their leads. This is a great pedal to use as a filter to add subtle nuances to your lead parts. Part of making this thing sound good is not just rocking back and forth on it going wah wah wah wah on every down beat! The range on this thing is so wide that if I rock on the pedal slow enough I can make it sound like a phaser. I'm trying not to use it so much but in practice I can find a use for it in almost every song we do. One small tip: I pulled off the rubber feet from the pedal to give me just a little bit more of a peak in the toe down position. I learned it from something Zakk Wylde mentioned in an interview. It also helps so that you don't have to step down so hard to turn it on and off.

Reliability : 9
Dunlop doesn't fuck around. This thing could kill someone! If you threw it at someone and knocked their head off it would still work fine. It's built like a tank and it looks like one too. I do know that the type of knobs that dunlop used on the left side have a tendency to break if you mess with them too often. I've pretty much found the setting I liked and then put the sucker on my pedal board so that shouldn't be a problem.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had to deal with them yet but I love that I was able to download the manual off the website. That's just great.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm using this in a Metal setting and it fits perfectly. If you play extreme or heavy music I'd highly recommend this wah. I've been playing for 14 years and this is what I'd always hoped to find in a wah. Seriosly, if you can't dial in a good sound there's something wrong. I love how versatile it is, although I've already found the setting I'll be using most of the time. I think the tone is superior to anything I've used in the past. I don't like that the Input jack and the adapter jack are so close together. That's kind of a wacked design. I also don't like that they used cheap knob design for the left side. If you're a tweaker and you're using these things all the time they'll eventually break. The same thing happened with my GT-5 a few years ago so use extreme care with them and they should last a while. All that aside this is a great sounding pedal. I hope the review has been helpful. Feel free to email me with questions or comments.

This thing is INCREDIBLY easy to get the sound you want out of it! First of all, you've got a 5-way selector on the right side - each position gives you a disctinctly different Crybaby sound AND it is big enough that you can switch with your foot, if you are careful.

Once you've found the basic sound you want, you can fine tune it with the "Variable Q" knob (the second knob on the left side) which allows you to adjust where the and how the filter peak is shaped. Move it all the way clockwise (High Q) and you've got a bold, big wah sound. Move it all the way counterclockwise (Low Q) and it's a more subtle effect.

As if that wasn't enough, you can fine tune the high end of the wah sweep with the "Fine Tune" knob (the bottom knob on the left side). All the way clockwise brightens the tone, all the way clockwise darkens it.

Then there's the "Volume Control" (top knob on the left side). It kicks in when you kick the red "Boost" switch on the right side and lets you decide how loud the wah will be. Great, since so many wah pedals sound muffled by comparison.

Don't like the sweep? Adjust the torque with an Allen wrench. How simple is that?

I don't like to twiddle onstage, so I like that I can get a good variety of tone live just by using the pedal once I've set it up to what I like and moving the selector on the right if I really feel a need to change the sound.

The manual is a disappointment and loses a point in this category. Especially since they've given you so many ways to tweak the sound. Something more than a bland paragraph on each feature would have been nice. Then again, it forces you to play with the knobs and use your own ears to learn what you want & don't want.

Sound Quality : 10
Okay, first off, to the "it's only for metal" reviewers, you are full of it. And, frankly, if you wanted ONLY the Hendrix sound, you need to sell this one and buy the Hendrix Crybaby.

I play this with a variety of styles and it sounds great in all of them. In fact I waited to buy this particular pedal BECAUSE of all the control I could have with the tone.

How do I know it is not just for metal? Because I got it to play live, solo acoustic in addition to electric stuff I play in the studio and it sounds GREAT!!!

My current acoustic setup is: Taylor 410CE --> DB-01 --> Boss OC3 Super Octave --> Boss CH1 Super Chorus --> Danelectro Cool Cat --> Fishman Loudbox Performer. I can switch between the combinations of sounds to get the variety needed for each song without everything sounding like a cheap-ass electric guitar through bad cables & dying stompboxes. Instead, it all sounds great and, most importantly for me, doesn't call attention to itself. You hear the music instead of the effect.

In the studio, I use a variety of setups, depending upon what the song needs: Guitars are a Fender 50th anniversary Strat; a Gibson LP Standard; a beloved 24-fret walnut Hamer and two great guitars (one a maple solidbody with two single coils & one humbucker, the other a semi-hollow with two Seymour Duncan humbuckers) made for me by a friend. Invariably, these are running through one of several Marshall amps and, again depending upon the song, through a variety of effects (we record both the FX sound and a clean one for later mixing options)

I've put this pedal through every variation I can think of in every style I can think of and pushed its parameters as far as I could, trying to MAKE it sound crappy and it is just not possible. No matter what the circumstance, it sounds terrific. I don't get the hum or noise or upper end drop off other people have talked about.

Reliability : 9
It's a Crybaby. It's built like a tank. And the skateboard tape on the top is a GREAT touch, much better than the rubber on all the other pedals I tried (which peels off easily). I could see that the jacks being soldered directly to the board would be a problem (so a point off for that), but I have a light foot & am enough of a geek to know my way around a soldering iron so I don't think it should be a problem for me.

I lucked out and came across this one used for a steal. Yeah, I could gig without it, but if this one broke or were lost or stolen, I'd want to replace it to have the tone options in my arsenal.

Because my stuff is so eclectic, I'm all about having options & variety in tone to play with (i.e. the two different chorus pedals in my acoustic setup) and this fits the bill like no other pedal out there and, yes, I played all the wah pedals I could find before settling on this one. If you are looking for a SPECIFIC kind of wah tone (i.e. the vintage Hendrix or high end Steve Vai sounds) or don't like tweaking, this may not be the pedal for you.

I've been playing for over 30 years and chose this because I can rely on it, it's not going to crap out or break on me and I can get tone I want - not just when using it for the "wah" aspect, but also to put it in that "sweet spot" to get the guitar tone for a particular song that you just can't get any other way.

I have an Agile V (left) to a Kustom II Lead...with a shatload of other effects... my other 2 wahs, are a Snarling Dogs Wonder Wah 2, and a Shin-ei Companion Fuzz Wah...Needless to say these 2 will be for sale shortly on ebay.

i have NOT noticed any background noise which is weird for a "metal" wah.

THE KNOBS!!!!

first theres the 5-position knob...its used to select a range...very nice feature...you can go from real bassy to real trebly and everything in between with this knob alone...

It has a volume boost as well which is an awesome feature for a wah, since theres usually a volume drop with wahs.

it has a volume knob for the volume booster...if the volume knob is set to 0, there is no boost, set to 1 a litle bit, set to 10 a lot of extra volume. yadda yadda, you get the picture.

then theres the Q knob...i really cant explain this one...adjusting it kinda makes it go from a "wha to a "wah" to a "whoa" to a "wow"..?!

the last knob is a treble boost... when you have your toe all the way down, and its set 10, theres a LOT of extra treble

with no distortion it sounds amazing...with a lot of distortion it sounds amazing...however it shines with distortion, especially when you bend or use a whammy. this pedal is so versatile..its probably about as far away from a one-trick pony for a wah. i enjoy it for clean just as much as i do for metal.. definately one of those pedals that you can "find new sounds on" long after the first day. also, it actually wahs the high e string unlike my other 2 pedals.

NOW...for all the people that give this AMAZING PEDAL a 0 because "oh it doesnt give that HENDRIX TONE," get your face out of your ass... IT IS A DIMEBAG DARYL ABBOTT SIGNATURE WAH PEDAL, TITLED CRYBABY FROM HELL!!!!!!dimebag didnt do hendrix covers...he played heavy metal. I wouldnt buy a Willy Neslon Wah pedal, and expect to play Cannibal Corpse on it.. thats just lack of common sense really. personally i think even though its a "metal wah," i could get a very good hendrix tone...maybe its you're setup!?!?

the only thing i found odd is that there is no built in distortion...if you wanna hear it distorted, put a metal zone in front of it...

Overall for sound quality i give this baby a perfect 10!

i am rarely fully amazed by a guitar pedal, but this one meets every one of my standards...i love it...if it were lost or stolen,i would probably shoot myself...or buy another one(depends how im feeling that day i guess)

Noteworthy Additional Features
You can tighten the screw under the pedal to make more resistance, meaning you have to push your toe harder to rock the wah...

the battery compartment can be opened with no screwdriver, and the battery attacher(i dont know what its called. the part that the 9 volt clips onto) is a full piece of plastic not wires with a cheap, flimsy cover.

you can take off the back 4 screws by twisting the rubber feet instead of using a screwdriver

input and output both on the same side(or you can use the traditional opposite end way if you want)

grip tape instead of rubber ontop of the rocker

CAMO FINISH!

my gripes are that the 3 knobs on the side are a little close together, and they are labelled on the bottom of the pedal, and not the side...and its batteries last shorter than my other wah pedals. other than that, its a perfect find for ALSMOST ANY player.

well i think that covers anything...if i offended anybody with the hendrix comment, im sorry, but come on, what did you expect. anyways, thats about it

My Rig is fairly simple,So there's not much that can go wrong.

If you want the clean wah sound to be the best of quality, then put all your other effects after it.

Having said that, i noticed that this one was pretty good as far as an organic tone went..probobly thanks to the fasel inductor. only issue is that it adds a little bit of fuzz to it...without the boost on...thats not a big issue for me though.. i like a bit of fuzz...
the boost is a good feature, it has the same effect as if you took a MXR Distortion + and turned all the level up, and all the gain down.

I won't describe the knobs and everything again. You can setup quite a lot of different wah sounds which is THE GREATEST THING about this pedal (see below why). Other than that, it has two outputs (which can be setup differently if you prefer), a very cool feature actually. At the moment I use one the other output for a tuner (to shorten my signal path), but you could theoretically run a setup with two amps.

The one thing I felt was really annoying was the manual. A better and more thorough explanation but - most of all - some typical sample setups would be great and no big problem at all. It would help find certain sounds much faster at the beginning.
I subtract two points for the manual because I think this is a rather annoying and unnecessary shortcoming.

Sound Quality : 9
First off, you get the classic Crybaby sound out of this thing. Let me get one thing straight, most of the highend Wahpedals in this price category are good pedals, they differ in their typical sound. There is really no better pedal (Morley Vai/Tremonti, McCoys, Vox) but only different sounding ones and this one gives you the aggressive Crybaby sound.

It sounds - properly tweaked - good on clean. The distorted sounds are quite strong and cut through fairly well, though the more distortion you use the less pronounced the Wah effect will be - no pedal can counter this. You can use the volume boost to increase the presence and/or distortion while playing; you'll have to tinker around with this in a live environment to get the best setting with your amp. I think this works better with a tube amp actually.

I have three normal guitars (with different tunings) and a baritone. The ability to change the sweep range is great because you can make the Wah fit to your guitar. If you ever tried to use a normal vintage Wah on a baritone you will have found the usable pedal range rather short. The Dimebag lets you counter this. You can also select totally different wah sounds if you like.
All in all, this pedal provides a vast amount of great Wah sounds suitable for Classic Rock to Metal.

Reliability : 10
It's built sturdily and has easy battery access (no screwdriver needed). It doesn't slip much on a level floor.
So far, no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
A good pedal. Buy this if you want an aggressive Crybaby sound with all the options and a cool look. If you don't care for the options, get the cheaper Dimebag custom.

It's pretty easy to get a sound out of this. Plug it in and step on it and do whacka-whacka. To get a GOOD sound, it's a bit harder. It depends on your music style, of course. I have found four favourites that I use:
-Classic metal lead wah: Range 3rd highest, Q at about 70 %
-Vocal, deep lead wah: Range same as above, Q maxed
-Vocal wah: Range lowest possible and Q maxed
-Clean funky: Range highest and Q 50%
At first I didn't use it clean, because it had too much highs. Then I turned guitars tone control down. It didn't sound like a guitar that had its tone set low, it sounded more like a vintage wah.
Manual was pretty good, it explained all the functions. No example sound settings, though.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using this with an ESP guitar and Orange amp, and effects I use are: Ibanez Smashbox, Chorus/Flanger and Delay/echo, and a Fuzz Face. This thing usually cuts through very well, and if it doesn't I check the battery. Of course, low Q doesn't cut through as well as high. It's really versatile, and I can copy wah sound of almost any metal guitarist, funk guitarists and Jimi Hendrix. It's not noisy, except when the boost is used. I don't use it a lot, though.

Reliability : 9
I've had it for six months, and it seems to be very reliable. No problems so far. The knobs for Q, volume boost and range fine tune are REALLY small, but seem sturdy enough.

Definitely a ten. I've been playing metal and guitar instrumental rock for five years, and it suits my style perfectly. I'm pretty critical usually, but I just can't find anything against it. Except that the pedal gets loose easily, but that's easy to fix. I just love the variable Q and selectable range and large sweep, that's adjustable also. I was thinking about getting a 535Q, but this was in sale, and was cheaper than 535, and so I bought this.

Its pretty easy to use, but finding a good sound out of it takes a bit of tweaking with the volume (distortion), Q, fine tune and the wah selector knob. Basically, just mix and match with all the knobs and find the tone you want. I opened it up as soon as I got it and saw Dunlop put a (red) fasel inductor in it. I think they just started doing this for a lot of their pedals.

The manual that comes with the pedal isnt very useful if you are dont know much about pedals. Although I doubt I would need it, they should have had some settings in the manual to get some people started.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with a Schecter Omen 6 through a Peavey Bandit 112 II.

Generally, its a pretty quiet pedal, although if you have the fine tune, distortion on almost full/full and have a trebly position on the wah knob, then it can get pretty noisy, particularly in the toe position. To get rid of the buzz , you can just have it in the up position, though.

This pedal sounds great. You can't get the same Jimi Hendrix wah tone (all the time) but you pretty much have Kirk Hammett to Steve Vai to John Petrucci's wah tone covered. With the boost, you can get that extra punch at the end. The sweep (Q knob) is adjustable and can be pretty huge when its on full.

My previous wah pedal was the BOSS PW-10 and compared to that, the DB-01 is a lot better. It is a lot more versitile and sounds better. The toe position on this wah sounds great too.

Although the pedal sounds good overall, the "wah" in the higher frets is not the best. You can basically hear the wah pretty much to the 22nd fret (with the distortion channel), but it isnt a full sounding wah. But then again, Im not going to spend a few hundred dollars on a Dunlop rack wah. This is more of a 9.5/10.

Reliability : No Opinion
I would depend on it, but I havent owned it long enough to actually know how much or little it can take.
Im 15, so I dont think I can afford a backup pedal now, anyway, since I dont have a job (yet). But when I do get one, I would probably get a fairly decent wah pedal (maybe the new cry baby classic w/ fasel, or a modded one off ebay) to play with and to use as a backup. Or if I like it better, use the Dime wah as a backup instead. Anyway, I think the warranty for this is a year, but I highly doubt anything will happen in a year. I treat my gear pretty well.

I play rock/hard rock/metal. I have been playing electric for a bit over a year.
If it was lost/stolen I would probably try something else instead.

I love the versitility of this pedal, and how much control I have over the tone. Compared to the PW-10, again, this wah is a lot more versitile. You can do a LOT more things with the PW-10, but the distortion on the PW-10 sounds pretty crappy, and the wah models sound VERY similar.

I wish it had low, mid and high (well, high is sort of like fine tune) knobs, but I think that is asking for too much.

Wah pedals have helped me make music. Coincidentally, when I got this pedal, I had just started writing my own riffs and solos.

I dont hate anything, but one thing I REALLY dislike is the damn jacks. They scratch the cord every time you put it in and take it out. Being the slow person I am, it took me a while to realize this, so by the time I did realize it, the cord was pretty scratched. Now I just leave both cords in the pedal pretty much all the time (unless I take it out of the house). Instead of using a battery, I use an adapter now too (because I leavethe cords in all the time).

The Q, fine tune, and the volume knobs on the side of the pedal are kind of hard to move if you're in a hurry, but the fat freq. knob on the other side of the pedal is really easy to move (you can move it with your foot while you play if you have to).

With all the knobs, you can find some cool tones. There are so many different sounds you can get.

The manual is OK, it tells you what the knobs do, and that's about it!

Sound Quality : 9
My setup is Dean Z to the DB-01 to a Randall RG100SC (not the G2 series).

The wah sounds amazing, huge sweep. I've set the wah so it sounds more vocal and fat. The boost on the side really boosts the volume when you're playing clean, but it's not very noticeable when you're playing with OD. I have the boost on when I play leads because it adds a little bit more gain, but it adds more noise too when you stop playing.

You can get a very high endy wah sound that screams, or you can get a very vocal/nasal wah sound with this pedal. Whatever floats your boat, the sky's the limit!

And to the people who say "oh, it doesn't sound vintage enough", well no shit. It's not a vintage pedal. Why do you think it's called the Cry Baby From Hell? If you want a vintage sound, get a vintage pedal, like a Thomas Organ Cry Baby.

Reliability : No Opinion
I'd depend on it, but the thing I don't like about the new Cry Baby pedals is that the jacks are mounted to the PCB board. After stomping on the pedal, occationally the soldering eventually craps out. I have an Original Cry Baby from the mid 90's, and it has crapped out on me because of the soldering on the jacks. I have a Thomas Organ (made in CA) Cry Baby which is from the '70's, and it hasn't busted on me. The jacks aren't mounted to the PCB board on the Thomas Organ. Also, I heard that the new pots in the newer Cry Babies are really reliable.

Still, I'd depend on the DB-01.

The people at Dunlop are helpful, I've asked them a bunch of questions and they replied pretty quick.

I've been playing for 5 years. I own an Original Cry Baby, and a Thomas Organ Cry Baby in addition to the DB-01. I love my wah pedals. I'm probably going to get a Vox wah pedal, a Cry Baby Classic (or I'll put a yellow Fasel in the original Cry Baby), or an Area 51 modded Cry Baby.

I play everything, mostly metal though. I've been making some blues meets reggae kind of music, and I've used the DB-01 for that, and it sounded pretty good. If it were stolen, I sure as hell wouldn't buy a new one, they're expensive. I wouldn't be able to afford one. I got a pretty sweet deal on mine though, $220can instead of $270+tax (14.5% tax here in BC). I love pretty much everything about the pedal, except maybe the paintjob. I know spoilt kids who get their parents to buy them the pedal because it 'looks cool'. I like the yellow CFH logo on top, you can see it when the lighting isn't so good, so it helps you to find the pedal. For my original Cry Baby and my Thomas Organ Cry Baby, I had to stick white tape on the top of the pedal so I could see it when the lighting sucks. I compared this pedal to the Morley Pro Series II wah, and the Bad Horsie (they don't have pots, and that was a stand out feature).

Rock on

I play all kinds of music but this wah is ONLY for METAL USERS. The only thing I liked about this pedal were the features. But please, the sound sucks and I totally agree that you CAN'T get a HENDRIX sound out of it. It's too noisy, undefined articulation, less bass, and too much highs. I tested it next to a 535Q of a friend of mine and immediately I send the crybaby from Hell back to where it came from: "To Hell"!!

I spent about 5 hours the day I got it fine tuning everything and just jamming around. It is a pretty easy pedal to figure out. The boost switch really boost the volume when using "clean" effect: however, I have found that when using distortion my volume stays the same but the treble is boosted resulting in a harsher sound, not realy a bad thing though. The fine tune and Variable Q knob are pretty easy to understand, but this is not a wah pedal you can just take out of the box and find a perfect setting right away. It does come with a manual but its not too useful, it could have been written better.

Sound Quality : 9
I keep my setup simple, the less stuff to mess with the less you have go wrong at shows. Im using it through a Line6 Spider II 212 and my guitar set up is an Epiphone Slash Signature equipped with EMGs 81/85. With the boost up it is noisy on distortion if you quit playing. For lead solo's I have it set to position 1 with the variable Q all the way up and fine tuning knob about half way. When jamming on clean Ive been setting it to position 2 or 1 with the fine tune and variable at half. This is NOT a weak wah pedal, it can be powerful when needed and its very easy to get any sound out of. I can really get a Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrel sound in my solos and on clean I can get a Jimi Hendrix/ SRV sound out of it.

Reliability : 9
This thing looks and is built like a tank. I was suprised by the weight of it. Im sure it can stand up to some beatings and really at shows I just need to depend on the 9v battery not dying on me.

I mostly play metal and this wah is great for it. Ive been playing for 3 years and own an Epiphone Slash Signature with the Zakk Wydle EMGs, Johnson J-station, Line6 II 212 and Morley Bad Horsie wah.
If it were lost or stolen Id probably have to go back to using the Bad Horsie wah until I had the money to replace it. I would definately buy it again. I like how you I can get any sound I want out of it, but I dont like how the boost switch doesnt really up the volume on distortion. I purchased this pedal after being disappointed with my Bad Horsie's sound. It was almost exactly what I expected out of it and really enhances solos for me.

Versatile and great sound. True bypass would be great (you can get this by sending it to the Dunlop Custom shop for a fee). Very nice sound. I was amazed that I was able to produce top quality sounds within the first few uses. Great with extra distortion though I just use stock tube amp distortion. Just a great pedal.

Not really difficult, the switches on the lefthand side have no marks like 0 or ten, but anything important is explained in the manual and on the bottom plate, lots of different great sounds, so you will need some time to find the one you want. I think every wah sound is possible to get with this baby, I don#t need digital modelling crap.

I'm using Ibanez RG guitars and Fender Stratocasters (with DiMarzio FastTrack2 PUs) My Effekts are DB-01-->Boss SD-2-->Boss BF-3-->Boss-->OC-2-->Boss NS-2 thenn to a Mesa/Boogie Studiopreamp into two Marshall 100W tubeheads.
The sound of the CFH is perfectly adjustable to fit in my Rock and Roll. Any wah without a booster has a certain volumedrop, bad thing if you want to use your wah in solos, as i do. The boost of the CFH works great to solve that problem.
Noise is no problem, not more than on other wahs, the bypass works perfect.

This wah is extremely easy to use! if you can't find a nice setting from this cry baby then you really shouldn't use one! I have a nice collection of Cry Baby pedals from several companies and will say this is among one of the best! The features are all usable and it's nice to have the volume boost, I keep it on all the time. You can dial in sounds from Satriani to Robben Ford with a turn of a knob. How hard can that be?

Very strong and vocal like that really cuts through when your playing live! With all the features on this pedal your bound to find a sound that will please you! I use it infront of my amp with no problems!

My only complaint is were the power supply connects to the pedal, it's too close to the input jack! (Someone else mentioned that in a earlier review) but that is it, if your looking for a great Cry Baby then give this some serious thought because I would purchase another one in a minute...

It pretty easy to use, takes some tinkering to get a good sound out of it. Manual sucks, but, who cares. Boost button doesnt do much.

Sound Quality : 5
I'm pretty disappointed with this thing, in alotta ways. Its only real use could be as an effects-loop wah. It has almost NO effect what so ever b4 the amp. It also takes a long time to get a good sound out of it, pretty harsh-sounding too. Creates a buncha feed back. I hear all these people and web-sites hyping up about it, and really, honestly, it is not that good. Oooooh, you can create your own sound, and it has variable q and boost, tell ya what, these things change the sound little or none, and than the boost button thing, doesnt really boost, just makes it trebley and harsh. If ur lookin for a hendrix tone, or even a decent tone, this pedal is DEFINATLY not the one for u, it sux.....

Reliability : No Opinion
Yea, i could depend on it, its built alright, you could gig with it. The only problem about playin it live would be the boost button thing on the side, kinda hard to twist your foot all around and hit the thing while playin, and if you use a buncha other pedals, its kinda tight to reach to the side of it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with em...

Play it with some Musicman's, Squier 7-string and a Spirit GT-pro. All are equipped with ToneZone's in the bridge. Amps are Koch Powertone I and II, and two Koch 4x12's. My favorite setting is:
Q-controll full, Rotary switch on 3 (1=low, 6=high), Volume at 5 o'clock and Fine tune at 7 o'clock.
First started with an original Crybaby GCB95, then a DOD FX-17 (great wah too!!), then a Crybaby 535 Chrome, then a Crybaby 95Q and now I've got this one. I'm glad to have a 535-like wah again. This one is much quiter than the 95Q!!!

And of course it has killer looks!!! Maybe an idea for dunlop to make a limited edition: camouflage colours like operation Desert Storm, so beige, brown and light brown.

Very easy to use. It's a wah pedal after all. You rock it back and forth and it goes "wah!"

The different controls and features, while note quite self-explanitory, are very simple to use and understand once you know what they're for.
3 mini-knobs on the left side:
fine tuning extends the amount of high-end in the "toe-down" position;
"Q" adjusts the shape of the wah boost, changing the sound from a real sharp "wakka-wakka" kind of wah sound to a softer, more subdued almost volume-swell kinda sound;
boost knob adjusts the level of boost from 0-17dB -- This knob is only active when the boost function is on!

On the right-hand side there is a large 6-position rotary switch that selects the frequency range, so you can center your wah sweep more around the high-end or the low-end. Position 1 (high) is great for doing "meedley-meedley" type solos, position 5 or 6 gives a really great "Electric Funeral" feel, especially if you put some distortion before the wah. Also on the right side, by the heel of the pedal, is a boost switch. Just tap this with your toe, and the boost function is engaged, teh volume will be boosted by the amount you have set with the boost level knob from the other side. You can set it lower if you just want a little added kick for your solos, or you can turn it all the way up if you really wanna blow the roof off.

The manual isn't extremely helpful, but it's not really necessary either, once you play with it for a while. The location of the AC-adapter jack is a bit unwieldy (the AC-in is behind [i.e. closer to the player] than the input jack so you can end up with a little bit of a mess of cords) but it's nothing to lose sleep over.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Squier Strat, Boss DS-1 Distortion, and an old Sears 5XL amp. I go Strat -> DS-1 -> Dimebag wah -> 5XL. I love the sound of this thing. With the "Q" and range controls, you can alter the sound almost any way you please, with the fine-tune control you can tailor the wah sweep to your liking, and the boost adds that extra oomph to really rise up over the band or to really abuse your amplifier for some extra gain. The key here is versatility, this is not just at plain old "one-trick pony" wah-wah pedal.

Reliability : No Opinion
Metal construction. Heavy. I don't abuse my equipment, so I don't know if it can withstand a beating, but I wouldn't doubt it. Have had no problems as yet.

Customer Support : 8
I purchased the last one that my local Guitar Center had and it was defective. The company said they would repair it under warranty, and return it to me for free, but I would have to pay to ship it to them. Since I had to pay shipping anyway I opted to return the unit to GC and buy a brand new one from Musician's Friend rather than take what's basically a "factory refurb" by sending it to them to have it fixed. But the contact I did have with them, they were prompt, honest and helpful.

Overall Rating : 9
The layout of the controls is a bit clumsy, and for a couple of them it seems like they're "backwards" (i.e. turn a knob one way that feels like it should be turning the effect "up" it's actually turning it "down") but I have no real complaints. I don't think it's true bypass but I don't hear a difference in my sound, so who cares? Overall I've been really happy with this purchase. If it were lost or stolen I'd be too poor to get another one but I'd want one.

This is an extremely easy effect to use. It does take a few hours to figure out all of the possible sounds, but thats nice since you can get so many different sounds out of it. The red colored Boost switch (that is located on the right side of the pedal) looks at first glance not to make sense in regard to placement and design, but when you get used to actualy using it, it's easy and effective. I believe the manual could have been better WRITTEN and had larger and more detailed pictures, but it gets the job done. When you first get it home the ease of use of it is an 8 because you must read the manual to know what knobs do what, but after you get used to all of the features and how the boost switch works and feels, then it's ease of use becomes a 10. I also like the fact that it does not move around when you are using it like alot of other effects peadals do. This thing really stays in place. What I did not like were the fact the 3 mini knobs located on the left side of the pedal are: Too small and it is very difficult to see the position markers on them and they are too close together. But since this is such an OBVIOUS problem, I figure that Dunlop simply "could not" fit bigger sized knobs on it in that particular place and that it was either small knobs or no knobs. Also the power supply input jack is too close to the input jack in my opinion.

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds excellent with every guitar and amplifier combination I've tried. Does Hendrix and Heavy Metal perfectly. Noise is not a problem. It sounds so good when it's on with the toe all the way down that you want to leave it on all the time. Dunlop makes other Wah pedals that have fewer features and a shorter "sweep", but I can not imagine not having every single feature that the DB-1 has. I personaly like to set the "VOLUME" mini-knob to 10 so that when you activate the boost switch you get the full 17db of boost added to your signal. This is excellent for lead soloing. Then I like to set the "VARIABLE-Q" mini knob to the half way position. And then I like to set the "FINE TUNE" mini knob also to the half way position(WARNING: You can add insane amounts of high end treble to your sound with this knob! I cant even handle it past the half way mark and I love LOTS of treble. This is the ultimate treble booster in my opinion) It also has the full sized, 6-position knob on the right hand side of the pedal that you can set to your favorite sound. I like it best when it's set to the #1 position (rotated fuly counterclockwise) as well as the #2 position. Because it has all of these different features as well as an EXTENDED SWEEP RANGE it can do it all. That's why I stated previously that I can not imagine not having every feature that the DB-1 offers me.

Reliability : 10
This thing is truly well built. It weighs a ton. Quality of construction is top rate. You really feel that your getting your money's worth with this pedal and really like that! The battery compartment (which I never use) appears to be flimsy, but perhaps when actually in use it works just fine. Yes I feel I could depend on this unit not to break down on me while in use.

They make another "Dime" cry baby pedal called the "Dime custom crybaby" but it does not have all of the features that the DB-1 "Dime Cry baby from hell" has so I cant imagine wanting one. Even though the Dime Custom crybaby has a FASEL inductor in it, I wouldnt want one of those because the new inductors are much better over all in my opinion and also because dunlop will sell you one of thier Fasel inductors to put in you cry baby if thats what you want. Personally,I wouldnt change a thing on it. It has already been perfected. The camo color of the unit is very cool and the skateboard grip tape on the pedal part of it is very effective. I really, really like this wah wah pedal.

Ok, I'll do the easy thing and answer the questions here. It's quite easy to get a good sound out of this bad boy. Plug in, play. Tweaking is a bit more of a process. You really have to know what each knob does (the manual helps a lot with this) and keep track of which way clockwise and counterclockwise work for each knob. The manual is pretty good; not the best I've seen, but it does the job. I give a 9 because you do need the manual if you want to know what you're doing when fiddling around with it.

I first tried this pedal (when a local store finally got one in) with a Dean Del Sol semi-hollow through a Marshall. Killer tone. However the setup I use it with is electric violin/ mandolin w. pickup -> Ibanez Tone-Loc F7 Fuzz -> Dime Wah -> old Zoom 504 acoustic box -> L.R.Baggs Para DI -> P.A. system.

One of the main selling features for me is the High End control because the highest string on a violin/ mando is equal to the 12th fret on the high E string of a guitar. I wanted something that I could dig into and be able to accentuate the top end, not lose it. This has done that for me. I'm sure I could get a useable sound (for one genre or another) at any setting, but I've found a setting that really lets me chew into notes on the violin (where I use it for sort of a celtic/ country violin meets Metallica sound) and really get funky with the mando (where I use it for the classic muted funky porn-soundtrack sound). I believe I have the 6-way knob on the 4 highest setting, the Q and High End controls are both maxed, and the Boost knob is at about 2/3.

This pedal has a really nice clean sound through my rig. If I kick in the boost, it adds a really nice chewy crunch to my sound, and if i use distortion with it (before the wah), run for the g*ddamn hills! It adds no noise to my rig whatsoever, and I like being able to have all my patch cables run on the left hand side of it, as this really cleans up my setup. The only thing I'd say is fool with it for about an hour and find a setting you like and you think will work, then try it out with your band at a rehearsal before you try your new sounds live. I thought I found a nice setting for the boost knob, but I was met with a "That sounded like sh*t!!!" Still all in all, this is one of the most versatile wahs I've used, and would sound good with most styles that I can think of. It's very far from a one trick pony!

Well, the housing I have no worry about, and I'm sure the skateboard grip tape on top is fine. However, the tiny knobs as well as the kicker switch for the boost is a cause of some concern for me. The knobs could easily get beer (or your drink of choice) in them, and I worry the boost switch could likely get stuck (stuck off, not good; stuck on, dangerous!) or broken if caught on a cable tie (which is how I strap things down to my pedal board). However, due to my lack of funds, I have, do, and will gig without a backup.

Never had to deal with them.

I play celtic rock party music. For what I bought it for (over the top psycho-country soloing and funkadelic mandolin), this has fit my needs perfectly. If i do make a separate setup for the mando, there's a 99% likelihood of me getting another one of these.

If it were stolen or lost, I've have to sick all the fiddle freaks and similar fans, whose eyes bug out with amazement when I kick this thing on, on the low life who wouldn't pay the low price for one of these things. In my opinion, this thing is just as full-featured as a 535Q (possibly more), and I bought it for only about $40-50 more than for a basic, bottom of the barrel Crybaby.

What do I love about it? The sound is awesome. The skate tape is very good at keeping my foot planted, and the camo is just a guilty pleasure! And I have to admit the two features that I didn't really consider when I bought it have been two that have actually made a huge difference; 1) the LEDs: it's so nice to be able to know during soundcheck/ during a section when you're not playing that you have to turn off your wah/ boost without finding out the hard way, and 2) the adjustable cradle resistance: it's a really nice touch to be able to give the cradle as much or as little give as you want to give it that perfect feel, and I think this feature is what solved my switching problem.

My problem was that in the middle of this psycho-country solo (and always in the same place too!), I'd accidentally switch off the wah. This wasn't a major thing, but definitely a little more than just a minor annoyance. However like I said, a tweak of the included hex wrench and that was taken care of. The only other features I dislike (but not hate) was the sensitivity of the boost control (it was a little hard to dial in a satisfactory setting), and the knob/ switch concerns I mentioned earlier.

I did compare it to a lot of other wahs. I tried the Boss V-Wah, a Snarling Dogs wah, a Morley wah, and probably a few others. Ultimately, I found this one to have the best overall sound, to be the most durable looking of the bunch, the best as far as saving pedalboard space goes, and the most affordable.

One option that would be nice as an OPTION, is the switchless auto-off found on the 95Q, but it's far from a necessity.

This pedal definitely will help you make music and will inspire new leads, cool riffs, wacky textures and shaggadellic funkosity. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a good all around wah for rock, metal, country, blues, jazz, techno or any other genre where you'd need a good wah/ filter effect. If you like that chewy gooey all around tasty crybaby/ vox sound, try this pedal!!!!!

It is very eady to use once you know what does each knob do. It has a lot of knobs, but that is how you can get different effects of your wah

I will definitely use it without backup I could really depend on it

Turns on just like any other crybaby (push down hard it's on, push down again and its off). The Kick-in boost,on the right heal side of the pedal, is easily activated by tapping the switch with your foot. There are also to lights on the heal of the pedal. If the green light is on the wah effect is on, if the green light is on and the red one is ont then the wah, and the boost is on. if the green light is off the pedal is off. To use it all you do is rock the pedal back and forth to create your sound. If you think the pedal is to strong or to loose it comes with a rocker torgue controll thing that allows you to tighten or loosen the tension of the rocker. The pedal also has a spot on the bottom plate that can be removed to install the battery instead of having to un-screw the hole bottom like on most crybaby's. Also the pedal has one input, one output, ans an input/output. This allows you to have the input and output right next to eachother to help stop the chord from getting caught in the wah and messing things up, and you can still rig it like the original, for use with other pedals. This thing is bad a$$ man

I currently have a fender big apple strat and atricked out ghetto rigged peavey preditor (was enabled to turn on and off with the use of the 5-way selecter). To jam these i use a marshall vs100r combo with a vs112 cab. The db-01 sounds sick. This pedals kicks all other crybabys ass's and sends them where they should have come from, hell (the wah sports the CFH tat on dimebags arm which mean came from hell). This pedal can get any other traditional crybaby wah sound and some. With a six position wah range, variable Q controll, and fine tune controll knobes, you can get the perfect wah for you. When the kick in boost is on the wah is great for distorted solos that need that extra ummf. I've had this wah for about a week and it is quickly becoming my prize posession. You can make that original wah wah sound easy, the pedal can go to extrem highs, extrem lows, or to whatever in between. You can make the sweep crawl for tight intros or you can have it extrem to explore new hights. The kick in boost has a volume control that lets you take the boost to low/high. The only problem with the pedal is that if your playing on a clean channel with the boost selection turned on and up things get a little sloppy and distorted, but with the boost off the wah sounds sweet clean on my strat. My peavey is a nasty little beast that will make anything distort clean.

Reliability : 10
This thing is camo'ed up and ready for war. It's built like a tank. It even uses grip tape on the top of the rocker insted of the original rupper design. This is so (in dimebags word) when you have beer all over your shoes, they still wont slip.

I play rock, and funky crap, and this pedal keeps the funk, funky. Ive been playing for about eight years and all my other wahs just kind of sucked and were banished from my set up but this one is here to stay. If you can jam this pedal will make you jam harder and longer. If some one stole this thing i wouldn't buy it again, i would find the person who stole get the pedal crack um over the head with it, then go home and use with a smile as i say crybaby from hell!
