i scientifically compared three brand new wah pedals, side by side: MARK TREMONTI POWER WAH, IBANEZ WEEPING DEMON, and DUNLOP DIMEBAG DB02. i thoroughly read most of the harmony central reviews of all three of these products first.

here's my analysis:

MARK TREMONTI POWER WAH: not in the running! distant 3rd. noisey. hardly knew sometimes whether my foot was toe or heel down. considerably smaller foot area length-wise than other two. i don't know where those rave reviews for this product on harmony central are coming from. maybe it's the name. or the "industrial" appearance? to each their own. sorry to "tell it like it is". i suppose it's possible i had a defective unit, but i seriously doubt it. i tested it right from the unopened package, brand new.

WD7: a bit noisey. widest sweep of all three. nice treble bite. not that much noticable difference when you tweak the various small knobs. put them all on maximum, what else would you want? seems to me that if they're going to go to the trouble of making adjustment knobs, they should DO SOMETHING quite noticable. minor gripe though, read on. i LOVE the optical switch! bigger floor area than DBO2 in length and width. THIS IS A GREAT METAL PEDAL. if you play metal, this is what you want. i peeked inside: nothing special in quality of construction of electronic circuit board, unlike DBO2 (i didn't bother to look inside the inferior MT Power Wah)

DUNLOP DIMEBAG DBO2: QUIET! very quiet pedal! as i read in one of the reviews, this is a "one trick pony". very well made! superior construction, inside and out. impressive quality circuit board, replete with red fasel inductor. this company cares about what they make, apparently. yes, it has a "sweet spot", more natural-sounding harmonics, whatever. conservative, modest sweep, nice pedal. certainly not borderline "extreme" like the WD7. you probably can't go wrong with this pedal, even if you predominately play metal.

there you have it boys and girls, scientific analysis of the three top-rated pedals within a modest price range. what more do you want? email me to thank me, and then consider sending me cash, lots and lots of cash for my humble efforts on your behalf. good luck with your purchase.

Marina Concorde series guitar-Dimebaby-BossME5(KorgAXG1 in effects loop, footswitches for manual mode, bank selection)-MusicMan RD112-2x12 cabinet. An excellent addition to my rig, gives wild, yet manageable feedback, no noise, cuts thru the wall of noise, the GO.

When the battery goes, thats it, no warning, just nuthn. Use the 9volt adapter jack. Solid unit, cept for dicky plastic battery cover, crap for the price paid new, not cheap! I'm gunna make a metal one for it, make it the dime baby custom-custom.

My brother owns a stock crybaby, 10 years old, always thort it sounded good, and has lasted well, so i got one. Tried a few at the music shop, thru some shitty solid state, with some crap plastic guitar, these were morley's, 2 adjustable crybabys, and a stocko cry baby. The camo paintjob put me off a bit, but it sounded the best, so i took it home, fearing i'd blown my cash. NO fears now, a great pedal, suits my style,(Sabbrixy flloyd).

Well, it's a nice straight forward Wah-Wah peddle, give it a firm press, and rock... literally...

Sound Quality : 9
WOH! I'd been eyeing up this peddle for a while, and they just happen to have one at the local guitar shop (i live in a lil' town) so after travelin around and trying other peddles i decided to give it a shot. I knew what i was looking for: I'd tried my band mates crybaby before (he has the normal one) and i found the it lacked the sweep and range that i wanted, so i was a little concerned, but all my doubts were blown away by this Wah. It has a beautful feel underfoot, and a nice range of motion. Also, the sound was terrific, lots of trebly whine when toe forward and total treble cut in the heel position. Wicked!

I play lots of everything it out-preforms anything i've seen yet.You can get very Hendrix like tones from this sucker. Also, since it IS ex-pantera guitarist dimebag darrel's 2nd custom peddle, it sounds great when you crank the gain WAY up... which i only do once in a while... still it will cut through the mix NO problem unlike some other peddles i've tried.

Interesting enough i was feeling frisky one night an decided that i should try looping my bass through this and what do ya know, it sounds WICKED!!!! It will Wah everything right down to your low E (i don't fancy 5 strings) and sound funky doing so... very fun when me and my friends get goofing off and play Parliament Funkedeclic Covers (i hope y'all got your sunglasses on...)

Reliability : 10
Holy lord!! This sucker is 1/8 inch metal all around! You could back a tractor over it and not hurt it! The Foot plate has a nice rubber pad on it that holds your foot tight too it, and the rubber feet on the bottom keep it from running away on ya. Internal gadgetry sounds sound and nothing rattles or rolls. I know my friend is not the nicest person to his equipment and his crybaby has held up A-OK... My friend's dad still has his crybaby and it's from around 1969!

This peddle is a good match for anyone who wants one killer wah-wah sound in there arsenal! If it were stolen you could use it to beat the crap outta the guy who stole it! This little guy has definitly inspired a few riffs and verses... My signal chain is a Telecaster into a Boss Overdrive and a Boss Fuzz box, followed by the Wah-wah peddle into a Danoelectro Tremelo and finally a Danoelectro Delay into amp.

I actually got is peddle for $65 off list price so it was an even better deal! WOOHOO!

Camo paint, Fasel Conductor, true bypass, other than that your standard wah pedal. Easy to get the sounds you want, just stomp and play.

Sound Quality : 9
Im running the Dime through the distortion channel of my Laney VC50 combo, and I also run it through a Visual Sound Ultimate Overdrive. I purchased this wah because I also own a Bad Horsie 2, and I hate the Bad Horsie. The Bad Horsie seemed to get lost in the mix, it never cut through very well, even in contour mode. I got sick of having a wah pedal that just muddied up my tone. So, I checked out the Dime Custom wah because of the features (Fasel, and true bypass). The first thing I noticed was the lack of sweep in this pedal. Usually, I frown on this, but I loved the voicing of this pedal. Even with the lack of sweep, the pedal cuts through everything very well. On high gain distortion settings, the pedal still cuts and is pronounced. To my ears, it sounds like its got a lot of high end, but is not overly bright. As another reviewer mentioned, I think its got a slight volume boost, and its VERY QUIET!! My Bad Horsie 2 is VERY NOISY on any setting with distortion, and it gets annoying. The Dime Custom is very quiet, and is much more clear when used with distortion or overdrive. For what I do, it sounds great, even with the lack of sweep. Sounds great clean as well, but I mostly use it to color my distortion or overdrive.

I play eighties metal, and classic rock (Zeppelin, Aerosmith, U2) and I simply wanted a wah that would cut through the mix when used with distortion or overdrive. I hate the Bad Horsie 2, its useless to me. I wanted a better wah, and the Dime Custom fits the bill. I thought I would miss the switchless feature of the Bad Horsie, but I dont. The Dime is voiced well, and cuts through the mix. I have also owned the Hendrix CryBaby, and the 535Q CryBaby. I like the Dime Custom, its a keeper. If you need a great wah, check it out.

Plug and play, it's as easy as it gets. Now it's even easier because their is a 9v adapter jack plus the same pedal action I know and love from other crybaby products. Special features worth mentioning include Fasel inductor and "true bypass" switching, and extra controls to muck things up.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing has a great vocal sounding wah quality, very much like a vintage wah but a little edgier with a very slight volume boost, very well tweaked. The first thing i noticed is that it did NOT suck any tone or color my signal in the bypass mode. The next thing I noticed, when engaged this sucker is super quiet, sort of a "hi fi" wah, I like that. When I first tried it, i was a little worried that it was a little too "in your face", but this me playing by myself, when used in a band situation, it's perfect, this sucker cuts right through. Where this thing really shines is when used with distortion, I think that was the intended purpose.

Reliability : 10
You could drop this thing off of a highway overpass during rush hour and cause some real physical mayhem (with that groovy camoflauge paint job they'll never see it comming), and I bet it would still work!
Rock solid baby.

Although I don't currently have and don't forsee any problems with this product, I have tried to contact mxr/dunlop in the past via email, with no response, not very good policy and could stand improvement IMO.

Overall Rating : 10
I used it to cover everything from Hendrix wails to funky shaft grooves to extra greasy porno soundtracks to over-the-top metal stylings, and this dude delivers the goods. I was in the market for a "good" wah, I have owned plenty in the past including Thomas Organ crybabies, dunlop 535's, Snarling Dogs, Moreleys, but still no happiness. I was also considering the high dollar botique stuff but happened to catch this one on an impulse buy at the local GC, and I have to say, this is definitely a keeper! I bet at 3 times the price those other wahs wouldn't sound this good. Did I mention that groovy camo paint job

This of course is a basic wah pedal. Turns on and off with a DPDT switch at the toe of the pedal. It has a battery cover on the bottom so you don't have to unscrew the bottom plate to change batteries.
I have mine on a pedal train pedal board and power it with a pedal power system from Voodoo Lab. Very cool comoflage paint job. True Bypass. Fasel Conductor. What more could you want?

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Les Paul Standard and a Carvin TL-60T both with humbuckers.
Sounds great! I was looking for a wah with True bypass and a more aggresive sound that a standard crybaby. This pedal fits the bill just fine. This pedal boosts the output volume slightly when activated which is nice as well.

Reliability : 10
So far so good...
Use it every week and it seems to be holding up well.

If you are looking for a well made Wah Wah pedal with a Fasel Conductor, True Bypass and a Comoflage paint job for under $100.00 this is a great pedal!

Standard wah pedal. It does have the battery access door on the bottom of the pedal so you don't have to unscrew the panel to change the battery. This pedal along with the Crybaby Classic are, according to Dunlop, the only true bypass wah's they sell. It does have a DPDT switch, the 100K ohm Hot Potz potentiometer and has the Fasel inductor. It's camouflage, but mine does not look like the red-green-orange one that is on the Musician's Friend (where I purchased it)web site. It actually looks like the same paintjob as the DB-01.

I couldn't find any reviews for this pedal so I wanted to let everyone know what it sounds like. I was looking for a replacement wah for my Crybaby Original GCB-95. I'm using a Gibson SG Standard and a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401. I compared this pedal to the Vox V847, the Crybaby Classic, and my old Crybaby of course. I like to play traditional rock and roll/classic rock and was looking for a simple, true bypass wah after the pots on my old one went 'scratchy'. The Vox sounded nice, but was a little less pronouced than I wanted it to be, it was not true bypass, and I have also heard about the reliability issues with this pedal. The Crybaby Classic and the Dime Custom sounded real similar. The range of the Classic was greater and it seemed a little more 'treble-y'. I emailed Dunlop asking about the differences between the pedals. They replied: "The main difference is, basically, the GCB-95F has ~ 25Hz more on the filter parameter and 1dB more maximum gain (heel & toe down)." The Dime Custom, compared to my old Crybaby sounded much more full and pronouced. The range of the sweep was not as great and it wasn't as treble-y. It's not as mellow as the Vox, but it's not as aggressive as a Morley Bad Horsie, if that makes sense.

Reliability : 10
It seems extremely well constructed. I didn't have one problem with my old Crybaby other than the pots going bad, and that should be expected after 10 years. This seems just as well built.

Customer Support : 10
I've owned several Dunlop/MXR products and have never had to contact Customer Support for problems. I have contacted them for questions and they have always replied quickly and gave me great information.

Overall Rating : 9
I am very satisfied with this pedal. It sounds great, it's true bypass, and the camoflauge is a lot of fun. I will say that it sounds more punchy than the Vox, so this may not be the best pedal to get the "White Room"-style tone from. I don't really play metal and, while this pedal would work for that, think that a Bad Horsie would be better suited for that style.
