I have a large chain of effects, and I had been using a Visual Sound 1-Spot. And the 1-spot is great, don't get me wrong, it is THE budget solution to powering multiple pedals. Its just that my cats have pretty much chewed through my current one, and I just happen to have one pedal that needs a ton of juice (Boss DD-20, which now gets the 1-spot until it dies), and two pedals which can run at 18V (Barber Small Fry, MXR Boost/Line Driver) and the DC brick caught my eye because it could power the rest of my pedals, and I could finally hear those two pedals at higher voltage. And the sound is outstanding. No extra noise, none of the weird **** or buzzing people have complained about.

I have a few Dunlop/MXR products, they're all super-solid. This seems to be too. It better be! I will be using with a backup, since I still have the 1-Spot. just in case. I won't go without my pedals!

Overall this little guy meets & exceeds my expectations. Power seems plentiful, its small and easy to use, and I love having the 18V capacity. I will have to find a 3rd high-voltage pedal just to make full use of the brick. I love it when gear can, all by itself, justify getting yet more gear. That's a winner in my book!

This a very good piece of equipment and very easy to use. Just find the proper connector and plug into a pedal and then the DC Brick and youy ready to go. It also has a mega-bright blue LED on the top so you definatley will know if your getting power

The power unit comes with power output for (7) 9 volt power and (3) for 18 volt power so all your power requirements are covered except for pedals with reverse polarity.
My chain is as follows Peterson SS tuner (9 volt)>Fulltone Full Drive 2 (18 volt)>Barber Tone Press (9 volt)>Roger Mayer Voodoo One (9 volt)>Roland RT 20 RotoSim (9 volt)>MXR Carbon Copy (9 volt)>Mid 70's fender Silver Face Twin Reverb.
No noticable noise or buzz with any of the pedals when using single coil pickups.

After reading most of the reviews and the problems some where having with the 18 volt section I was a little hesitant buying this. when it saw it online used I decided to try it out. I have been using a VS One Spot and though I had know problems I wanted something that could power 18 voly pedals. The only thing that the One Spot can do that the Brick can't is powering pedals with reverse poalrity with the required connector.

As i started using it, i was pretty happy with it. Just using the 9 volt outlets caused no problems whatsoever. First thing that was slightly annoying was when i purchased my Fulltone '69. That pedal requires reverse polarity, and the dc brick cant cope with that. So i went and bought me a visual sound one spot, to power the fuzz. Not an ideal situation, because i wanted all my pedals to be powered by one power unit... But then i decided that i had to bring my trusty old Danelectro Cool Cat back on the board. This is the 18 volt model. At this time, the dc brick started acting funny. It messed with my sound. It became overly harsh, or shifted in volume on the most inappropriate occasions... This is when i decided it had to go.

Great product, as long as you are using standard 9 volt DC effects, with negative center polarity.
I sold mine to a guitarist who uses nothing but these effects. He's as hppy with it as i was, in the beginning.
I use a VooDoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus now. It handles reverse polarity and you can combine two outputs to get 18 or 24 volt.
I have to power (in effects chain order); Fulltone '69 fuzz, Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Wah, Boss TU2 Tuner, EMMA DiscumBOBulator Envelope filter, MXR Phase 90, Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe, Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus, Ibanez TS9 Overdrive.

Seriously...The whole rig is on a common Furman, NOTHING else hums.

back to batteries...hum is GONE!
This thing is like blending a white noise generator into my signal chain...I HAVE a moog...if I want white noise...I'll use the moog.

I use this power supply to power a boss dd-6 (delay), boss bf-3 (flanger) and a BBE Boosta Grande, with many more pedals on the way soon! With these pedals, there is no additional noise at all when compared to being used with batteries. I am yet to see how it copes with boutique type pedals, but i don't expect any problems.

Here are my few gripes. I do gig use it on gigs without a backup but it makes me a little nervous. My main concern i guess is the flimsy power cord connecting the "brick" to the power supply itself (the transformer). I can see it breaking very easily. Also, I wish the "transformer" was actually inside the "brick" and that there was a nice thick power cord coming out, never mind that the unit would have to be bigger.

This unit does the job, but could be better. The 18v outputs are useless for me as all the pedals i use are 9v. 3 of the 10 outputs are 18v but I ask you, are 30% of pedals on the market today 18v?, i don't think so. Also, the flimsy power cable is too short. Anyway, i just wish this thing were more sturdy, especially considering the money i paid for it! But then i got ripped off by a locals store - ebay is the way to go for this type of thing.
If this were stolen, i would try to get one of the voodoo labs. Failing that (they are very hard to get as they are hand made) i would buy this again.

O.K. I've had this sucker for a year and it's performed flawlessly with assorted compact '9 volt' Boss and Ibanez pedals and a '9 volt' Dunlop (Fasel) crybaby during this time.
READ ON . . . .
I've recently purchased one of Dunlops new boutique 'Slash' Crybabys (think it's called an SW-95) at great expense. This Wah is differant than many of it's rivals as it boasts 18 volt current draw for "more headroom", which it has in spades.
As the Slash Wah is a Dunlop product (as is the DC-Brick) i thought it was fair to assume flawless performance . . . . . WRONG!
Powering the Slash Wah from any one of the thee 18 volt outlets in the DC-Brick (as it's intended) causes my amp (Marshall head and quad box) to hum like a swarm of bees. You just can't ignore it or 'eq' it away.
My rating of 5 in this category is because it works as the manufacturer intended it for HALF of it's functions . . . the 9 volt half.
I see other reviewers have had similar experiances with alternate pedals which command 18 volts of power.
Reliability
:
No Opinion
It's fair to say this item is pretty robust and would take some abuse to break it.
As detailed above i'd ONLY depend on it to power 9 volt pedals because, based on my experiance and that of other reviews, the 18 volt supply ports simply don't perform.

Now people, this is the best part; bear with me here . . .
I contacted Dunlop customer support and explained this horrid humming noise to them. I assumed that it was the Wah that was defective because it was the newest addition to my chain and my rig only hummed when the Wah was engaged.
Through various emails back and forth between myself and Dunlop i detailed my set up and use of the wah within my chain so that Dunlop could might solve the problem for me.
The end result was the customer service rep just scratching his head and saying -
"Sorry, but this is highly unusual and we just can't figure out the problem".
I've since stumbled across the company who does warranty repairs for Dunlop here in Australia and they managed to identify the problem within 30 seconds.
They said that there's no problem with the Slash Wah at all . . . . . the DC-Brick is interfering with it! Something to do with shielding.
What shit's me most about this is that Dunlop didn't tell me. Why? Maybe because they know that their DC-Brick product doesn't operate in the manner with which it's described and it'd cost them a fortune to recall and repair them.
I won't believe that they weren't aware of the Bricks inherant defect either.

I've been playing intensely for 12 years now and are lucky enough to own some really nice equipment. Some of which is Dunlop gear which is terrific.
The DC-Brick, fails to deliver on it's promise to power both 9 and 18 volt pedals effectively.
The 18 volt function is pitiful as the humming is so over powering rendering it useless.
It's one of the most expensive products of it's kind on the market and i feel cheated as i folked out top dollar for this overpriced item.
Buyer beware!

Here's my set up. Maybe you can point out where I was getting the awful noise.
EB Vol -> Dunlop Crybaby -> Boss TU-2 -> Boss DD-6 -> Line 6 ToneCore Tremolo -> MXR Phase 90
This is where I had the most trouble with the power supply. I needed something that would power all my pedals and not add a bunch of noise to them. Well this thing had no problem supplying power, however, there was such a jump in the amount of noise I got from my rig that I couldn't stand to use it. Maybe they should add some sort of power regulator or something, but it needs help.

No hiss or hum from any of my pedal EXCEPT when I plug in my MXR-134 Stereo Chorus - It HUMS! I have been working with Dunlop to resolve this. The 18v adapter that comes with the MXR-143 Chorus works fine. So there has to be an issue with the 18V side of the Brick!

The Unit itself couldn't be more simple very compact and built like a Brick, but external power supply seems a bit light and flimsy and is quite large making it a pain to keep within the confines of a tidy pedal board, ie you need more cables leaving your board going 2 an external multi block, also there are no cables supplied for reversed polarity effects pedals which are pretty common with other power supplys.

Sound quality at first seemed great with no added hum or his, that was untill i plugged in my Dimebag Distortion or mxr Stereo Chorus both of which are powered from one of the three 18v power outlets on the brick which on the manual are specifically designed to work with these pedals. As soon as i plug in the lead from an 18v outlet there is a very audible audio hum present which is not there when using the 18v power supply that comes with any of the MXR1 18v Pedals. i have exchanged the unit for a replacement twice and its still there rendering use of 18v not an option! any comments on this welcome.

This thing is wonderful! I have a Crybaby Wah, Boss DS-2, Boss DD-3, Boss TU-2, and an Ibanez Tubescreamer. My wah eats batteries like a fat chick eats cake! I was so tired of that dying battery sound, but now everything sounds GREAT! It was like my pedals were given a second life, I was so used to the old battery sound that I had forgotten what these were supposed to sound like. They sound rejuvenated and much fuller. Especially the wah, the output is fuller and more even, rocking back and forth is much more apparent. And of course you want to know if it's noisy right? The DC brick is not any nosier than batteries! It's virtually silent. Unbelievable!

All the cables are included, it's completely silent, it breathes life back into your pedals, and it's so darn small! In fact, it's smaller than a boss pedal. Wow. At $139 Canadian, I just don't see how a Voodoo priced at $230 Canadian can be justified. The Brick is already perfect, paying $91 for a bulkier product just doesn't make sense to me. I love my BRICK like nooooooooooooooobody!!!!! Wrong commercial? Oops I did it again. Anyway getting off topic here. In summary, BUY THE DUNLOP DC BRICK.

I play a Strat or Tele through 6-7 pedals into an old Twin. I know I have too many pedals but I love them. After reading several articles about small fluctuations in power, effecting the sound of pedals, I started checking the output of my wall warts. I thought my meter might have been wrong after finding that most of my 9v supplies where putting out almost 13v. Only one was below 12v, and that was my regulated Fulltone which read 9.0v. The scary part was when I checked my 18v Danelectro supply (Bought for my Cool Cat Chorus, but I had been using it to power my Fulldrive 2). Its output was 28.2 volts, I couldn't believe it would be that far off. Once the "brick" came in I checked all the outputs on it and they where 8.9v and 18v. That's pretty darn close. Seems like my overdrive/dist effects sound a little smoother and warmer, it definitely made an improvemnt in tone that I wasn't expecting. After all, their is no instrument signal going into or out of this thing.

I notice no noise or tonal degradation when using this unit, I researched some different models before I bought this one and it seemed like it had the best quality for the money. I think the voodoo labs pedal power 2 is suppoed to be real nice as well but this unit is smaller, cheaper, and probably works just as well, I mean, it provides good clean power to whateer you plug it into. It does have the wall wart supply though, the voodoo labs one has a built-in supply I think, it's not a big wall wart though, really not a big deal to me.

really easy to use, just connect the adapters to your pedal (9volt) and just plug in into the wall. Small adapter dont have the hassle of plugging into every corner I can find and using multiple plug input surge protectors. kinda hard to arrange so your pedals are all in line and your cables from the main brick to your individual effects are straight and dont get tangled up, but thats the fun part like some other person said. Also note, it brings different cables that can adapt to either boss pedals or electro harmonix, the ends are different. 1 is open (female) and 1 is a plug (male jack type)

get this is you are constantly wasting money on batteries, and we all know effects living off batteries lose power(soundwise) and sound weak sometimes when the battery is low. SO keep the power running through them fresh and get the best sound you can possibly get. IF it were stolen I would look for one used, Im sure it would work just the same. I love the size its small and compact Its smaller than a normal boss pedal. It definitely makes pedals sound better when the current is going into them fresh and you dont have to worry of batteries dying over night because you didnt plug out the cables running into them.

Its a power supply ! You connect one end the power cable (9v neg/9v pos/18v) the effect pedal and the other to an outlet o the DC Brick. The hardest part is arranging your pedals/cables neatly - but that's the fun part !
Comes with a walwart power supply.

It can power up to 10 effects (7 9v/3 18v) simultaneuosly. No more batteries. More flexability arrangement wise as the daisy chain I was using w/my TU2 was somewhat limiting - not the case with the DC Brick cables...almost 2 feet in length each !
The only noticable diffence in sound occurred when I powered my Fulltone FDII w/18v - so much better (due to how FDII's run on 18v)!!!
Each power outlet is individually buffered. Good stuff.

I have used it for about 15 hours a week (5 days x 3 hours constantly ON) for 2 months. The unit keeps cool to the touch. No need for a back up.

Prior to purchase I e-mailed Dunlop regarding number of cables that come with the unit (3 18v/7 9v neg cnt/3 9v pos cnt) and there approximate length (almost 2 feet).
Quick, professional responses.

I am very happy with the DC Brick.
Effortlessly powers my main pedals (TU2, FL9, FDII*, Vox wah, AD9, EH2). Don't want to go back to batteries (expensive) and cannot go back to the TU2/daisy chain (don't want my pedlas crammed together).
I think it is a better value than the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 because it 1) comes with all cables from the factory/no need to special order 18v connectors 2) Powers more pedals (10). 3)Costs a lot less than the VLPP2.
Recommended power supply.

The unit is very quiet and runs cool even after hours of use. It makes all my pedals sound great. I am using it in my pedal board to power a Fulltone Fulldrive II, Maxon AD-90 Delay, MXR Micro Amp and a Boss TU-2 Tuner.

I have been using it for about 3 months now and it has not failed yet. It is built like a tank and is much smaller than the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power. It is probably smaller because it uses a wall wart to power it. I would have rather them put the transformer inside the box and use a more substantial power cord. I put a power strip in my pedalboard and ran the cord to the power strip.

Overall I would say it is the right power supply for my needs. The power cord thing really dosn't bother me because it goes to my power strip. It is very small and dosn't take up a lot of space on my board. I would buy this power supply again and probably will buy another as a backup. The best thing is that I will never have to buy or change another battery. Visit my band's website at: www.theurge2rock.com

I run a Boss Noise supressor, two Ibanez Tubescreamers, a Boss GE-2 EQ, an Ibanez Delay/Echo and a DOD chorus and they all sound perfect and completely silent with this unit. No complaints.

Ive used this unit for over a year under pretty hard circumstances. I play in a worship band at church every Sunday, and it stays powered up for about 4 hours continually as well as eight hours of band practices during the week. Never had a single problem with it.

This thing is great. Has probably paid for itself already in money saved on 9v batteries that had a tendency to die right in the middle of a set. Would definitely replace it if it were lost or stolen. It has become a necessity for me.

I don't have anything bad to say about this pedal. It's compact, like the mxr pedals. It's not noisy. It powers everything that I run except the whammy4.
The price was the deciding factor. Even though I probably overpaid for mine(local music store) It was still cheaper than the voodoo labs pedal power.

This is the upgraded unit of the Juice Box. It doesn't have any of the problems associated with previous model. This box couldn't get any simpler. Plug in your pedals and then plug it into the wall. It powers up to 10 pedals in either 18 or 9 volts. The way the cords and the sockets are you can't accidently mix voltages too easily. No switches, just plug and play. It does come with directions but they are sort of a joke because it's just such a simple thing to use. Imagine if toilet paper cam with directions.

All my pedals sound as good or better with this box. I was so surprised. I was expecting noise. After hearing all the nightmare stories with the Juice Box I was thinking I would have to send this thing back. Everytime you play it's like playing with new batteries. The sound output is stronger and fuller. It came well supplied with cables for all of my applications. 1-18 volt wall wart to power the thing, The brick itself, 3-1 volt cords, 7-9 volt cords with barrel ends, and 2-9 volt cords with mini-phone ends (had to use this one for my Frantone Peachfuzz). Here's my pedalboard layout. American Deluxe Strat into a MXR phase 100 > Ibanez Turbo Tubscreamer > Dunlop 535Q wha wha (18 volt) > Big Muff (not powered by DC Brick) > Frantone Peachfuzz > Danelectro Dan-Echo > old 50 watt crate tube amp or custom Fender Hot Rod DeVille. Then sound is as good as the pedals can possibly sound. I have modified some of the pedals to be quieter suc as the MRX phaser. I highly recomend this power supply.

It's built like an MXR and its heavy for its diminuitive size. I got it for a better gig set up. It really helps on stage. And It also protects against spikes and surges. The unit supplies constant and regulated power. It can provide up to 1000 milliamps which is plenty for pedals. After using this unit regularly it has never done anything other than what it's supposed to do. It doesn't even heat up much at all. I gave it a 9 because the bottom isn't very grippy and it can slide around. That's not anthing to really worry about unless you have a gig on a boat.

This is the best way to get rid of batteries and wallwarts. I like it better than the VooDoo Lab model too. But, the bad thing is that it's not very popular and it took almost three months to get because i had to special order it. My other complaint is that it's not brick red. The box is black. The previous Juice Box model was a nice juicy orange. When I saw the prototype for the DC Brick it was red. So I was a little disappointed about that appearence. Oh Well! It's still awesome. I hated wasting batteries.
