Jsut like everyone else...step on it, it turns on, rock it back and forth, get wah sounds. Now, that said...it does take some practice to get GOOD wah sounds out of it.

Sound Quality : 9
I've had a couple of Wah's in my time..a morley fuzz-wah..a no-name generic wah, and now this Crybaby. The Crybaby is much more subtle than the Morley I had...the dynamic sweep is much less pronounced. it has a much more vintage tone to it, whereas the Morley pegged a "Dirt" era Jerry Cantrell sound. I don't have an AC power supply, so I don't know if that will make the effect more pronounced. This is more of an underwater wah pedal.

Reliability : 9
I've only had this pedal for a few weeks, but I bought it at a pawn shop, and it looks like it's had some use. The pots seem good, no scratchiness, the rocker action is smooth, and no stikiness in the on/off switch. Seems solid enough to me....Backup? really...who can afford to have backup pedals?

Customer Support : 7
Never had to really deal with Dunlop, but they had their manuals online, which is a plus in my book. I'm a pawnshop gear junkie and it's always nice to be able to get the manuals for used equipment.

Overall Rating : 9
I play ska/punk/rock-a-billy, some 80's alternative (Pixies, Social Distortion, etc.) My guitar set-up is an Ibanez AG75 into a Daddy-o overdrive to Crybaby to Vox Pathfinder 15R. It's a pretty lo-fi set-up, but it gives me that vintage-y garage sound that I'm after. The Crybaby is just subtle enough to fit into my setup without overpowering anything.

Depends on how musically talented you are, like any other music related equipment, hahaha. But anybody can turn the thing on, rock it up and down and make wah wah sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds good to me, comes awful close to a VOX wah-wah, to my ears anyway. I actually think Jimi Hendrix would approve.

Reliability : 10
Mine hasn't conked out yet,(had it about a year, use it about everyday) so i guess that's a good thing.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to use it.

Overall Rating : 10
My setup consist in this order of: Fender Strat (white, rosewood neck bottom heavy gauge dean markley strings, capacitor soldered on the volume pot for treble bleed), dallas-arbiter*england fuzz face (original), Dunlop wah-wah, Ibanez ts-7 tubescreamer, 15 watt fender frontman (soon to be fender deville 410, I use nothing but coil cables. I am satisfied with my crybaby, I would suggest buying one to anybody. Sounds good, it's durable, I'm happy.

Easy to use, after extensive practice and experimentation.

Sound Quality : 2
In short.........Great for high wattage free style RnR........
gets that HIGH PITCH squeal for Voodoo Child that is over the top, which is OK...

The BAD.......
It sucks tone so bad, you will get rid of pedals that you THOUGHT were poor to begin with...
The wah goes first in the signal chain, unless a vibe or compressor is employed....
Too bad.....
Used it for YEARS!

Reliability : 4
Has its dilemnas......
pots go south soon, squeaks in the treadle.......
Fix it....Get true bypass installed and maybe we're talking turkey here.......

Customer Support : 5
Pffffffttttttttttt.........
Why?
Just true bypass the damn thing and be done with it!

Overall Rating : 5
Power Blues.......
Has it's moments....but when you care about tone......
Try it in and THEN OUT of the chain......
It's like recovering from drowning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fer Chrissse sakes............

Ease of Use : 10
Too easy. Just plug it in. Instrument cable in one , the amp cable in the other. just press down on it for on/off. simple as that

Sound Quality : 8
I use this in front of a boss ds-1 distortion, a boss bf-2 flanger, and an mxr phase 90. The Crybaby works excellent in conjunction with these effects. It gives you that wail that can be heard in songs from various artists. I use it through a Dl-20 20 watt Mega amp. The sound quality is excellent. If you turn the volume up on your amp with the crybaby in the down position (down relative to where the crybaby nameplate is) you may have a little buzz. but that is it. If you are looking for a fatter wah sound that gives you a "wow" sound instead of a "wah" sound you might be better off with a Vox wah. But either is great and I hear that you can alter the Crybaby wah and make it so the sound is different, but I don't know how to do that.

Reliability : 10
Yes. But if I were to use it for a gig, I would purchase a newer model of the crybaby. the newer crybaby wahs have an adapter plug-in. I bought a used 70's model of the crybaby and I have to use a 9 volt battery. But I still have battery life after about a whole year of using the crybaby off and on.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never had a situation where I had do contact Jim Dunlop.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
This is great for any style of music. I use it on oldies like "Marvin Gaye- lets get it on", jimi hendrix styled songs, gospel, and funk. I would definately buy another if I had to.

It's very easy to use. no secret. i tink my unit is a little old
AA25H027.

Sound Quality : 8
i use a vox cambridge 15' with a celestion speaker, my sound pass through tagima strato guitar - CRY BABY GCB95 - TS9 clone - dano eq - sansamp classic - chorus CH1 BOSS (i go for dod fx65 and sell this) and a dan echo. my unit had almost imperceptible noisy. the effect is very good, but i can reach true hendrix sound, it could be more wet and delicate on slow use. but is very good to me... a just trate it for a more vintage unit, i belive mine is about 91'.
generaly the sound come very good, e like very much of my cry baby.
I had another one buy in 2000, but did not have a same vibe.

Reliability : 10
HARD BOX. you can play ball with and is continue to work.

Customer Support : 5
i never go for dunlop support, i think, its nothing to be supported...

Ease of Use : 7
easy to use.... but sometimes its just hard to turn on and off. No need for manual this is so easy to use,

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Korg A5 and GCB 95. Its not really noisy though. Sometimes is sounds weak on heel down, but i think its on the battery. We only rent studio and I use a Marshall w/ 10" speaker, sound good by usign it. It can immitate sounds of Kirk Hammett, Joe Satriani

Reliability : 8
The battery cover is not that tough, mine is now broke, but thats fine though, its not that important. But I think this is tough

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
I play Blues and Rock, this is a good match for me.I been playing for 9 years. If this were stolen or lost, ill buy another, but i want to try Morley or Vox.I love the tone of this thing.

Its a wah-wah pedal people. It cant be that hard. The way u have to press on the toe to get it to switch on/off is just a matter of working it in and getting used to it. If you press hard on the front atleast you will know if its on or off.

Sound Quality : 10
Mine is a little bit older but that just made to sound quality more vintage and nicer. I can get the amazing hendrix sound.I play a lot of Stevie Ray too and all u need is to use the neck pickup and a tubescreamer with the wah and your on your way. The pedal has the hendrix sound in it. Its better than i even thought it would be. MY set up for now is: Cort Mirage 500>crybaby gcb-95>danelectro flanger>ts7 tubescreamer(for lead boost)>fender deluxe 90(use amp channel drive for normal distortion)

Reliability : 10
This thing is built like a fucking tank. I would certainly use this without a backup all you need with it is a power supply.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I play tons of blues and probly one of the best 14 year old players around. I play tons of hendrix, allman brothers, clapton, and stevie ray vaughan. Even though im only 14 i've been playing for 5 years and play with top notch local players that give me advice so im pretty wise with this stuff. This is a great pedal. Dont go buying morleys, there is no wah sound in them and the way the rock back and forth is bad, it moves too easliy. If your playing stevie ray, clapton, or hendrix use a dunlop. Try the older ones if u can find one. They are the best.

Easy as hell. plug it in push the toe down and go. If its new it make take awhile to break in the on/off switch but it will happen.

Sound Quality : 10
good really good. I play old 70's, 80's heavy metal/rock and this thing just sings for solos or funk rythm parts. I play hendrix and this thing is great. You kinda have to use it after your dist or the range is kind of shallow but after dist this sucker gives sweeping highs and lows.
The only problem is if the battery is low the pedal becomes weaker and weaker and its weak for a long time, so you dont really notice but it gradually starts to sound really bad, thank god for adapters.

Reliability : 10
built like a tank

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
very good for the right music. A must for any hendrix or clapton fan this thing is just great, if it broke i would most defenitaly buy a new one, or maybe try the vox wah.

Ease of Use : 9
It's a wah pedal - just move it with your foot...
no bullshit or frequency knobs
but the on/of swtich is f#@%ing horor
you have to stand up if you want it to go on or off propertly

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using it with a fender strat deluxe to various amps
sounds great, of course it's noisy when it's all the way up
but not critical if you play along...
it's very versatile - you can play with it every thing.

Reliability : 8
This pedal is as strong as tank
I actually used it while standing on it.
the battery life is unbeleiveble - 4 months it lasts!
but the battry cover had broken easly and you have to replace the whole bottom plate to get it fixed. :( bummer

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with dunlop

Overall Rating : 9
I play Vai, satriani, hendrix, dream theater, guns n' roses and pink floyd.
great choice! It's perfectly fit in.
If was stolen I would buy it again for sure.
Dont need any backup - it will still work even if the battery is empty. so if it's runs out at the middle of a song just turn the wah off and replace the battry before the next one begins.

Ease of Use : 8
I gave this peddle an 8 for ease of use as it has one off on switch and the peddle. I did not give it a 10 because i feel it is not as easy to use as some morley switchless peddles. There is a basic set up guide included but is not really needed.

Sound Quality : 8
I use an LP > ts7(Overdrive) > Crybaby wah > MT2(distortion)> 50 watt soid state combo.

The wah sounds great. It copes well with everything from clean to hammett style wah quite simply. I liked the sweep on this a lot. I play slightly more metal hendrix covers and metallica(nothing off st anger) and the only fault i find is the slight decrease in volume. I have solved this by including the ts7 as a boost when im using the pedal to play lead. I have given this an eight but it was a hard thing to rate as it comes down to a matter of taste.

Reliability : 8
Very sturdy unit but for gigging i would check the pot has no signs of ware and also make sure that you are used to the switch as especially when new it has a tendancy to be a little tough.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
For the metal and rock style i mostly play it is a very usable pedal but i find it comes into a league of its own when playing stuff like gnr. Long slash style bends are dealt with easily and boosted by the great mid this pedal posses. For the price there is no competition and it is much better than vox wahs and morley wahs that cost #100+. The best way to decide if this pedal is right for you is to go to your local dealer and have a go.
