What do you expect? it's a damn wah wah

im running this from Strat to crybaby to Crate GFX65 with the pedal full back it squeals and with it full forwards it hisses-sounds pretty good once you get a feel for it but theres way too much treble one way, no mids, and too much bass the other way- it gets a good sound played clean, pretty good fuzzed up but no sweep and no mids.

it was one tuff mutha**cka, but switch always acted up- had to take it back cause it just stopped workin cuz off Bullsh+t switch!

this fits well into those categories but isn't great at any. The Vox is better overall and if you look at the film of Woodstock/or Isle of Wright/ or Band of Gypsies, you can see that Hendrix mostly used this wah pedal for 70 bucks it sounds alright but tha switch is a P.O.S spened another 30 bucks and get the vox

Die-cast metal construction is the best choice. It's sweep rate is just on the inside of it's potentiometer's bandwidth, and the fact that the construction is die-cast helps keep out those annoying radio waves that cause satic to come out of your amp, but over all design there is really no difference between the vox, and dunlop models.

Electronicly looking a a comparison between the vox and cry baby, There is no difference in the circuitry design. Except the value of some components differ by about 5 percent or less. The main difference that seperates the two is the inductor. This component is the heart of the effect. In the dunlop version the core of the coil is a perfectly alligned inductor. Therefore, the component itself does not over heat as quickly. But in this case it a down fall for this wah. In the vox, the coil is slightly offset so the inductor over heats more quickly and there for reaching the saturation point more quickly, this is why the vox model has more sustain than the dunlop.

This is the easiest pedal to use. The foot pedal and thats it. The only way to get a good sound out of it is to find your place on the pedal and fiddle with the settings on your amp. Sooner or later you'll get your sound.

The sound quality is excellent. Not many pedals can match. I hear the Vox and the Danelectro wah wah are good but it would be hard to beat this one (my personal opinion anyways).
I run this pedal through a Fender Frontman amp. Its small but perfect for my size of room and sounds not that bad. It is a little noisy. If I have the distortion cranked up a little it will make noise but not to bad. On clean its noiseless. You can get pretty close to eric clapton. Sometimes he uses a Vox Wah Wah. But overall you can almost get his sound.

Reliability? This thing is built like a tank. I would not have any worries what so ever using this without a backup. It hasn't failed me yet.

The overall rating is a 10. I play all sorts of music to classic rock and roll, blues, to jazz. Perfect for all. If it were lost or stolen I would definitily buy another. All though I would like to try out the Vox Wah Wah. My favorite feature is how simple is is to use. Just one pedal that it. No knobs no nothing. Simple. I bought this one because 1st, looking and reading about the Danelectro reviews in some places, not many people were all that happy. 2nd, i've played one before and fell in love with it. 3rd, easy to use. 4th, great sound. 5th, built like a tank. It would last a life time.

ok the switch was a tiny bit aggrevating, sometimes. but i learned to live with it. unfortunatly i left on top of my friends car after a (really horrible) show, and he drove off. a few hours later i noticed it was missing and went searching for it. we found by the side of the road about a mile from my hose-those feet hang on really well-it was beat up badly. we took it to my house and found that one of the wires was loose and fixed it. it hasnt sounded the same since, but this is my fault for my utter stupidity. the switch was annpying sometimes though.

i am definitly going to buy another one of these because the sound it made was perfect

I have a Kustom amp with a MT-2, an MXR eq and this wah pedal. I dont find this pedal noisy at all ,although I found it hard to find a good sound with dist, I eventually found a good setting though. I can immitate Kirk Hammetts sound pretty good with this thing, It does the Voodoo chile sound pretty decently too. When I have my eq set properly I found no volume depletion when used with dist, and the effect is just as strong as the clean channel. I`m very satisfied with this pedal.

I just got it so I cant tell you how reliable it is.

I play Metal and Rock, this pedal fits my style like a glove, I`ve been playing for five years, if it were stolen I would buy it again without a thought. The only thing that would improve this pedal was to give it a bigger frequency range, it goes from low to high to quickly.

Very simple to use, just click the pedal on and away you go. There are no knobs just a straight forward plug it in and play type of pedal.

The biggest problem that I would with this pedal is that there was to much bleed through. Since that it is not true bypass even when the pedal is off it still influences the sound that comes out of your amp. The pedal also has to much treble and the frequency sweep on it is not long enough. I found that the pedal would go straight from bass to treble with nothing in between.

The footswitch on this pedal sure doesn't work as well as it used to. I find that sometimes when I am playing that the footswitch doesn't activate the wah as well as it did. Reliability in pedals is very important and when the switch starts to go on it then you know that it should have been consturcted better. Other than the footswitch the rest of the pedal seems fine.

I think that I should have spent the extra money and bought a pedal with true bypass switching and a steadier footswitch. A Fulltone Clyde or the Tech 21 Killer Wail would be what I would pick now. I want something with some good middle range and a larger sweep because it gives me more to work with. Before you go and buy this pedal I definetly think that you should explore your opportunities and there are a ton of them to choose from. If money is an issue than hold on and save up because you want to get the best bang for your buck.

This pedal is extremely easy to handle. Push with your toe, rock your foot forward and backwards. Does it get any easier? And for really stupid people it has a manual

I use it with a Fender stratocaster 70's reissue and a Vox pathfinder.
You can get some really nice sounds(Hendrix). This pedal gets noisy when you put it in treble position(only then) otherwise GREAT!

I can depend on it... but I wouldn't. The day after I bought this pedal the switch became stiff and really hard so I couldn't turn the wah off. Then after a a week or so the switch stopped working. It was on warranty so I got it fixed. Now I would use it on gig(cuz it's been wahing for a year now. And it seems that i doesn't use battery(maybe it uses hidden solarcells?)

I got it repaired. It only took 'em like two weeks to send it back. great peeps!

good sound quality, original wah sound, nice with distortion... i use this pedal for solos, cuz my favourite guitarist is kirk hammett... and he uses this often to solo.... so thats also the reason y i bought this pedal, joe satriani and steve vai also use wah wahs... and this can easily create their wah sound.... pretty much a good pedal... it also doesnt consume alot of battery power... jsut take of the input and the output plugs wen not in use....

Duh. It's either on or off (and no mistaking which), and you just rock your foot back and forth. Docked one point for the bypass switch, which is not only dependent on pedal position (you can only switch it in with the pedal full forward, so you suddenly get biting treble when you do), but depending on the switch and its alignment it can be a workout to get it to click--not good if you need it to switch in/out precisely when you want it to. Otherwise operation is idiot-proof.

The main thing about the Cry Baby is that it has a very nasal, resonant sound, like a synthesizer VCF with the resonance knob turned up. This sounds great, for sure, but isn't always what is desired. It's more '70s than '60s, if that makes any sense--great for funk and discko, but too trebley and harsh for groovy rock and soul. If you're aiming for a '60s rock sound, I've found it's best to stay within a rather narrow wah-wah range, which isn't the easiest thing to do on this pedal when you're wailing but it does tame the sound a lot. Also not much bass response, and there is some volume loss when you switch it in, which might be a pain in the butt if you're playing live. One of the most unfortunate things about the Cry Baby is that it all but obliterates the subtleties of whatever comes before it, especially distortion boxes. Different distortion settings all lose their differences when run thru the Cry Baby. Summary: great wah-wah sound, but not particularly versatile, and has some definite limitations. If you can afford more than one wah-wah, try augmenting your Cry Baby with another one with a different sound (Vox, Morley, etc.) so you have a palette to choose from. Just so long as you stay away from those digital turdbuckets.

One thing I forgot to mention, however: this pedal is also useful as a regular bandpass filter. Nice way to get that oh-so-trendy distorted telephone sound on a vocal mic, or to get odd feedback effects in combination with other effects. Remember, no one said you had to rock the thing with your foot with a fuzz guitar going through it!

Mine hasn't failed yet. Built of nice, thick metal and nifty rubber tread material. Plus, at least on mine, the battery lasts forever. However, you may have to add some novel new maintenance items to your toolbox, like spare rubber feet and a can of 4-In-One for the pedal pivot (mine got stiff and squeaky relatively soon after I bought it). In the even that the extremely simple circuit goes bad, you could probably find all the parts in any junk radio and fix it yourself.

As said elsewhere I'm all over the map musicwise, usually retro-flavored, and I prefer pedals that sounds great but can be used in lots of situations (read: versatile). The Cry Baby is of course the quintessential vintage wah-wah and I love it to death, but I won't tell you that it's perfect and that it's great for absolutely everything, and that you're an idiot if you think it has any deficiencies whatsoever. It has limitations, and as long as you realize that you'll have tons o' fun playing with it. I would certainly replace it if mine were ripped off, but to be honest I'd be more tempted to build one of my own (maybe $10 of parts in a circuit not much more complex than a crystal radio!) or pick up an old used unit than to pay Dunlop $100+ for a new one.

How easy can you get. You move your foot back and forth changing the treble as you go (I think even Korn could figure this out). There's a manual with it too.

I'm puttin' a Maverick F3 into the Wah and then into a Flextone 2. I know people say it's noisy when in the toe position but this is't a fault of the pedle, it's just that you're using soo much treble that your guitar becomes extremely sensetive. The sound is cool. A lot of people say the sound is crap but a guitar nerb can find fault with any piece of equipment. These are the sorts of guys that piss me off with there (and I quote from this review board) "The feel produced by the pot's taper and sound of the anemic inductor...sucks!". Get a f*****g life. It either sounds good to you or it doesn't but I can get great sounds out of this, both using it to "wah" or leaving it in a position (experiment with this).

Hendrix gigged with it so why shouldn't you. It can withstand heavy use.

This is a bit overpriced, I will admit, but it is the pedal with which all other wahs are compared with. If it was lost or stolen I would buy another, sure! compared this with a Snarling Dog, which was an absoloute piece of crap and more expensive. The only complaint I have is that it seems to make my mouth move with the wah action, or am I just retarded.

About as easy as you can get. Plug it in and stomp on it then wiggle your foot around. It's almost too easy to use, which is a detriment to its sound. No volume/tone control.

Okay, here's the bad part. When I first played through this wah, I was blown away. Well, it was more like "Cool, I'm playing through a wah." Then after about 10 minutes of playing I found this pedal to be extremely bad sounding. It was suprisingly quiet for a wah, which was good, but it was much to trebly with toe forward, and virtually no bass with toe back. Also, the midrange is incredibly scooped. So much, that if playing with a live band, this pedal would make my sound disappear. Also, at first I thought the pedal was the same volume when on as it was off. But I actually found this pedal cut volume a tad when on. To make a long story short, this wah basically acted like a volume/wah. Lots of treble, no bass, no midrange. This equates to bad. A lot of people say that due to the fact that this pedal is 40 bucks cheaper than higher quality wahs, this is a good pedal. I have to disagree. If you want a good wah, go with the tried and true Vox or equal. You get what you pay for, folks. I found a used Fulltone Clyde at the guitar store for 150 bucks. I know I could have gotten it for cheaper. Probably a hundred, and I would have had what is considered by many to be the best wah in production. Do some searching. If price is a problem, get something used.

One word: Yuk. If I cranked the midrange on my amp, it started to sound more alive. Can't do that when switching to lead in mid-strum. Virtually non-existent in the bass frequecies. You can definately do better than this in a wah. I did get this as a gift, and I definately appreciated it. I would have gotten another wah, but I am going to get a Vox Valvetronix amp that has a wah built into it. If you're in the market for a wah, look elsewhere.

This thing is very easy to use althogh it takes some getting used to switching it on and off. It might also be difficult to get the right wah sound if you have never used a wah before.

I play every thing from jimi hendrix to Rage to original stuff and this pedal is perfect it has very versital range and can be used in all types of music.

It's simple just plug it in and you will get that classic Hendrix wah in seconds.

If you wan't a good wah this is a must but if you want a wah that does a million things also you might as well get a piece of crap morley or somthing but this thing rocks.

Its a Wah they don't break unless you smash the switch in like i did with th first day of having it but in a week they sent me a new one. yes i would gig without a backup and i have done it many times and it holds up, this is one of those pedals that lasts for ever

Simple, you just _feel_ it... I have noticed that many people have said that it is to hard to get the right sound they want... you know, it is very hard to do a flawless 6-string sweep and a fast speed within minutes of first picking up a guitar! YOU MUST PRACTICE A LOT WITH IT AND YOU WILL GET BETTER!!!

The simpleness of the design makes it simple to use. The only flaw with it is the notorious on/off switch. But if you have any decent level of neurological activity in your brain you wouldnt whinge to the world about it, you would 'fix' it (work around it)

HINT: if you look on the underside of the moving 'pedal' part, where the swtich presses against to get turned on/off you will see that the pad is very soft... make it harder by firmly putting something else there...

As I said above, you need to PRACTICE with it to get the right sound out of it. Freq. range is good and sound quality is excellent.

I use it with my Aslin Dane AMM-211 guitar and depending on how I set it, my amp, and my stereo (i run my guitar thru wah, then amp, and finally my stereo - gets a much better sound and EQ) I can get the sound of Vai, Satch, Hammett and Hendrix.

Very solid. The thing is built to last.

The switch sometimes is a problem, but otherwise a beginner could use it.

The sound quality was terrible I could barely tell a difference in sound (even playing clean). I use a peavey bandit 112s, A Marshall valvestate, and a fender amp.

I would not trust it. I bought mine new, and the potentiometer was bad. Also the gear was jammed. I repositioned the gear (easy to do) and that part worked good. The switch is also not very dependable. I would really give it a zero!

I am currently talking to the customer support. I will notify everyone of the outcome.

It only got 1 switch on/off and a back and fort mouvment. Anybody could make it work

There's alot of people that the on/off switch broke off easaly... It just take 5 min to repairs it!! after that your good for another 10 years! It happend to mine, I've repaired it, its been 2 years. So stop complaining about it!!!

Yeah, it's a wah, it should be easy, but it isn't. It sounds simple enough. Rock it full forward to turn it on, then rock it back and forth. The trick is turning it on/off. The switch wears out after about a month of use and it is very hard to turn on/off especially if you only use it for quick wah parts and then want to turn it off. On top of that, having the switch on the expression pedal, rocking full forward is a stupid idea. The only position that you can turn it on in is toe down all the way. That's annoying. What if I want to turn it on heel down? You get another wah that's what or modify this one.

My setup was guitar (Washburn BT-3) to DOD Fuzz, to Rocktron Rampage distortion, to DOD bi-fet pre-amp, to amp. From the effects send I then put this peice of shit (now I have a Morley wah though), then a Danalectro reverb. Some have speculated that my displeasure is b/c of where I put it in my setup. That is not true. I have tried it many different ways and it has not sounded or operated well in any of them.

You can not depend on this. It is not made of steal it is made of aluminum. The bottom plate is the cheapest part of the whole wah (box wise). the switch is another problem, it went out so easy. The pot is supposed to go out too, but I didn't have it long enough for this to happen. On top of that, this thing picks up radio like crazy. My Morley doesn't.

I have not dealt with Jim Dunlop, but I should give 'em props for having a web site with alot of info.

I no longer have this the guy that I traded it too let me take my Morley wah for an even trade (proving that there is a God and that he is good). That guy was really nice he is now selling this Crybaby for $10 under what he was selling the Morley (I guess he just liked me). I only bought this b/c it was the only wah in the store and everyone said that it was cool, everyone was wrong.

The sales clerk told me ''the best ''wha'' pedals are the Vox or the Crybaby, I tried both and they sound about the same( maybe the Vox had a bit more midrange but was $50 more probably due to the chrome finish) I have this pedal for 2 years, I use it a lot , you get nice harmonics when you hit the ''sweetspot'' in the middle, you have to feel that pedal, it must be an extension of yourself and your playing style, Dunlop did a faithfull copy, my friend has an original and it 's the same all the way, if you are a ''wha'' fan buy it!

You step on it and move your foot back and forth. The power supply input is shakey.

BAD. DO NOT BUY THIS PEDAL. When you roll your foot back the sound gets so muddy it's almost impossible to tell what you're playing, and when you roll forward it goes obnoxiously high, and the taper of inbetween sounds is not smooth at all; it shifts from low to high instantly.

The power supply input goes in and out. It can go out at any time.

If it was stolen I'd do two things: laugh at the person who stole it because they're stuck with the worst wah ever, and then happily go out and buy a better one.

I'm using a Samick Strat Copy through a Crate Gx-65 amp, my guitar sounds crappy so i cant say the wah makes any difference, i think it sounds better with some reverb and the wah tho. I'm probably gonna buy a Fender American Std. or an Ibanez or maybe both...not sure yet.

The wah will get noisy (background hiss) if i leave it on the "toe" position, and get lots of feedback when there's distortion on top of that, nothing too dramatic. With too much distortion i get very annoying high notes, but after tweaking my gain and playing on another pickup it's ok.

At first i put my distortion before the wah, but it sounded very muddy
even when the wah was turned off, i'm not sure why...so now i run the wah before everything else. I tried my first setup once again and it was ok...so i dunno what happened.

I like to play clean, on the neck pickup, and add some reverb over the wah, it sounds very warm and i love that sound.

Looks reliable, feels reliable so it must be! This thing is built solid.

I play Hendrix/Cream, lots of RATM, Downset, Papa Roach,The Killjoys, Fluf, some punk, radiohead, incubus...anything that sounds good to me.

I also like to jam by myself and was getting bored with my normal sound but with this thing i can play for hours!

I'm kind of new to the world of guitars (1 year), I own a Washburn WR-150 and the Cry Baby, which outputs to a shitty solid state amp. This pedel sounds really good, of course you can't fiddle with the suond, but I'm not that advanced anyway. Really nice sound. A bit too much treble sometimes though.

I've only had it for a little bit, but the metal casing looks like it would last at least 40 years.

Never even called them, I live in Dubai, The United Arab Emirates, so I'll probably never call them.

I play shit like Metallica, Slayer, The Misfits, Megadeth, RHCP and lots of other stuff. But sometimes I just like to strum, ya know? And this is perfect for it!

It could have had a longer throw. Its too hard to nail the exact frequency you want to boost, both because of the short throw and the way the thing jumps from one extreme to the next very easily.

I was using an Epi starter pack guitar and amp w/ the wah. Strat rip off thing, and an amp that was solidstate trash (and when solidstate is trash, its *really* trash) with a five inch speaker. Thus, you may wish to take this with a grain of salt; I hate s_____ tone to begin w/. The wah, amasingly, made it worse. Refer to ease of use.

No. My friend, who is about 180, was "wahing" it while I played to goof around, and broke the damn switch. Now the beast won't turn off.

I play rock, alternative, and metal. I felt even in my short time with it (with poor equipment) that it would serve none of my songs justice.

When I get my new set up all organised, I'll probably get a Budda Bud-wah and just save myself the hassel of bad tone. Nobody who is overly concerned with a good wah sound seems to suffer the Crybaby series long... Even the upper models are reported to be bad.

Sounds good, i only loose a slight bit of highs when i plug this puppy in. When it is all the way back the sound gets very noisy, when it is foward it screams! The jacks for your cables are very tight, which is good. Doesnt suck up batteires fast at all. Only if you leave the input plug in which i do all the time. I just stuck a post it on the off switch on my amp that says "Unplug wah Dummy"

I could through this off the empire state building, and it would be fine. It weighs 300 pounds.

Couldn't be easier.

Mine is used. Its a few years old. The pot is kinda messed up, theres alot of static sometimes. Sometimes the sound cuts out completely. The sound itself (when its working right), isn't as impressive as a Vox. A bit harsh sometimes.

With the bad pot, I would never gig with it. Its built soundly, but the input and output come loose sometimes, creating loud annoying noises.

Never dealth with them. Why bother, I got it used.

I guess it would be ok if it was new, but with a junk pot and the shoddiness of the input and output, I'm not all too impressed. The sound quality is also not what I would be looking for, even if it worked. I would much rather just use a Vox.

Extremely easy to use. Just push down and up and you get the wah sound.

I use the product with a 5150 Slant Cab and a MT-2 Boss distortion and a Envoy 110 as a head. And I can get Vai, Satriani, Hammett and Dimebag sounds with this. As you can see I'm very into metal.

No need for a backup here, just get an adaptor for it so you don't have to keep buying batteries!

This is a great match for metal, funk, whatever. And you can always use it as a filter! Hammett does that for his leads sometimes, I don't see why though...Cuz he's not that fast.

Very simply to use. Just put the powersource in be it battery, ac/dc, or pedal board, and put it in the fx loop or in front of the amp and it's ready to go. Turns on and off by simply stepping further down with the toe.

I use it with a modified epiphone les paul studio (wasn't my choice guitar when bought, butI really do prefer it over most gibsons) with a duncan JB in the bridge and the stock gibson pickup. I've got the crybaby in the fx loop with first a boss stereo chorus, followed by the crybaby then an sm-7 ibanez distortion, and then an ART LEVELAR at the end, but only when recording. Live, i just leave off the Levelar and use it for voice with direct out from the PA to the power amp.virtually no noise as far as i've noticed. The effects are best in clean, plenty of "W" at the beginning. A nice slow wah that can altered by small foot movements, unlike the vox which has a very abrupt wah. Morley seemed to not wah enough. In distortion, the wah it still good but not as strong, it is best for me in dist. when i am constantly strumming or picking the string(s), the "w" shows through very well there. I use a marshall vs65 and a jcm 900, the pedal is great on both. I can get the awesome Rage against the machine, hendrix,metallica, led zeppelin, almost anyone's wah, sevendust (when they strum the strings and wah the clicks, it's great.)OH yeah, if you listen to incubus, you can do many of their effects and sounds with this pedal alone. Just by moving it slowly, or leaving it up, or leavin' it down. Gave it a nine because it could be a little stronger in distortion, vox can bend distorted sound, but there's a trade off between strong wah and slow emotional wah. although, the fx loop works better than in front of the amp for a stronger wah.

Oh its built very tough i can throw it around. Wouldn't use a backup and its great because it lets signal through as if it wasn't there even with no power.Must be careful and make sure to click on and off very surely, making sure you feel the click because it sometimes gets caught in between on and off but its all in the person. Don't try turning it on and off while sitting down.

Its a great piece of equipment, the parts where i gave it less than ten were very critical, and would be the fault of the player if that kind of problem happened with the on/off. The other reason was on my theory about there being a trade off between slow emotional wah and a quick wah that can bend distorted sound. But its my choice for a wah, and I'm satisfied. If it was stolen i'd get the same one, because of its simplicity(no controls except for on and off, up and down), and its great "W" sound.

Step on the button and it's on. Step on it again; it's off. Just a tad difficult to step down hard enough.

A great sounding wah. Good with distortion and reverb, not too good, but not unreasonable on a clean channel. I recommend light distorion; not many wahs work well with crazy overdrive.

Great; you probably won't need a back up. However, when using it as a filter, you might want to stay near it. Its frame not as firm as a Morely, say.

I play hard rock, and this pedal is great. Keep in mind that it's not the original Crybaby, but if you absolutely insist on the original, don't get this one. Of course, they do sound the same. I run my Kramer Pacer FT202S through this, then an Ibanez ToneLok delay, through a Peavey Rage 158 on the distortion channel. Sounds great for me. It has a great sound quality, appropriate for its price.

Just press down at the front to activate the switch and your off.

I don't have any definate set-up yet but i use pretty budget gear, i havn't had a chance to use it with my loco box analog delay yet but i can't wait to try it out :) ProAmp - Dunlop cry baby - PRoAxe Strat, mainly no named brands etc...
This is a great Wah-Wah pedel for the price i guess, the guy instore told me it would cost alot more for anything else so i brought this little puppy and i'm not sad to say it was worth it, this is a great pedel for the price, maybe it doesn't have quite as much range as i'd like it to have but it's great for adding texture to songs and really adds a great dynamic if used sparingly.

Well the switch broke in mine and i havn't had it for long, although i got the switch replaced for free so i can't complain.

Havn't had to deal with the company directly at all but the guy in the shop fixed it for free and it came with a warranty, but i don't think i'll have to ever deal with the anyway.

This is a great pedel if it's used wisely, it has a limited range but its great if you just want to add a great texture to some of your songs and interludes, i'd definatly buy it again if it were stolen unless i get a whole lot richer anytime sooner, then i'd probably buy a vox or a defferent brand crybaby.

Everyone knows its an easy pedal to use,although it takes a bit of practice to make it worth your while ( or your audiences!!)

I had one of these a few years ago and it was terrible sounding.Also the on/off switch was near impossible to switch but the one i recently reluctantly bought ( i went for a morley but they only had 1 cry-baby in stock-d`oh!!)is really good.This time the switch is very easy to operate and its sweep range is enough for me.
I`m using a Mosrite copy with Gotoh p 90`s,a j.h.s amp,a Boss hyper fuzz set on 1/4 gain boost and a big muff.The cry-baby after the muff is a really nasty,sweeping whirlwind sound.Very psychedelic.I LOVE it!!It sounds very J.Mascis ( early Dinosaur jr.)I tried it with the wah before the big muff and you could hardly hear the wah at all but after the muff it put a smile on my face straight away!!

I think this thing will live longer than all of us but im concerned about all the other reviewers here saying about the short live of the pots.We`ll see.
i would definitely use it to gig (i only got it last week and im not in a band right now) it seems very dependable to me.

I havnt had the need to contact Jim Dunlop so heres hoping i never have to.

I play 60s psychedelic punk (think pretty things,elevators type with sabbath-size riffs) this pedal fits my sound like a glove.I was very aprehensive with this given my first encounter with a cry-baby but im very pleased with this one.I give this a ten because of the LOW PRICE.

Piss easy. Move your foot up for more treble, down for more bass. The manual (or as it should be called, "instruction card") is very brief, but you don't exactly have to be a Rocket Scientist to work it out.

Considering it's value, I would say it is very very good. I play Oasis mostly, and they don't use wah too often. But when they do, this is the exact same sound they use - combined with the correct effects of course.

The only noise you can hear is the sound of the wah in the background when you've got it switched on, but you're not playing anything, but you won't hear this in performance, so it doesn't bother me.

Heavy but extremely durable. I would probably gig without a backup, simply because wah isn't as essential as say a distortion pedal. Some people have had there CryBabies for years and they still work as well as they always did, so it must be quite reliable.

As I've said before, I play Oasis mostly, and when they do use wah (ie not very often) this produces exactly the right sound. If it went missing, I would replace it without hesitation. It's excellent considering its value, and I would expect no more or less from it. I haven't written any songs which involve wah yet, but it's doubtless I will.

If you want a decent wah pedal, but don't have enormous amounts of cash, you could do far worse than buy this pedal, and you couldn't do much better either. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

I was getting a wah, and compared this to Vox V847 Reissue, and
the Vox was much better, in my opinion. In a way thicker, smoother and with od/distortion, the Vox can be heard pretty good, opposite
to the GCB-95. Not too good, but not too bad either I quess.

Pretty reliable, although Crybabies have some kind of reputation for bad pots.. My friend has gotten one for years, and the pot is fine, but it makes some strange noises.

If you want to play Hendix, buy the Vox, it's the one Jimi used to use, altough his one was somewhat modificated. When discussing about wahs, I quess Voodoo Chile comes to everybody's mind, and this wah is not that good for that. Too weak and too small sweep range. Overall still a pretty good basic wah. But if ya have the money, by something better at once.

Its Pretty Easy to Use. Just Step on it!!! I like the fact that it can be powered by an adapter or a battery.

The sound quality is pretty good. It has a big sweet spot making it easy to get a fair wah wah sound. I find the wah sound a little weak though. It also won't sound as good if used with a lot of distortion.

It is fairly reliable. I once broke the switch that turns it on.

The customer support was ok. The warranty is 1 year parts and labour i think. They repaired my wah but it took quite a while.

This is overall a pretty good wah. I've seen better one's but this wah performes pretty well. It is not very durable, but it is extremely easy to use. But I think it was a bit overpriced. Good wah for beginners to intermediate level.

You have to almost stomp on the pedal to hear the "click" to know the wah-wah is activated. Otherwise, it's just move the pedal, play, and you're on the way. It will take a few days to get used to it, at least it took me anyway.

Sounds alright, I have to relisten to songs by Clapton, Hendrix etc and check with pedal to make sure I'm getting the right "tone" so to speak. I was expecting a dramatic "wah" sound, but you'll have to earn them by practicing for a few days. I'm using a Epiphone Les Paul Studio w/ a Peavey amp, I just wish I bought an AC Adapter so I don't have to buy batteries for both the wah-wah and the fuzz box I'm getting in a month.

This thing weighs like a couple bricks and is built like an armored car. Just don't drop it on someone's foot..

I've been playing for about a year and I'm mostly playing Clapton stuff (Cream, Derek & Dominoes etc.). This wah-wah pedal will really kick when I pair it with a fuzz box! I wanted to buy the fuzz box first, but there's just something about the wah-wah pedal that's just plain cool.

Is easy to use, however it is something that is control by feel, so it may take a while to get the sound you are looking for. For that was around 4 days.

My setup is American Std Start to Compressor(sometimes I leave the compressor out), CryBaBy, Blues Driver, Chorus Enssemble (This one too is out sometimes), Noise Gate to Classic 50 2X12.

Sounds great with and without overdrive/distortion. I tried after my strat in the beginin of the F/X Loop and before the Noise Gate. I like better at begining because I feel it gives me a wider frecuency range there.

Looks Sturdy, I have it only for 2 weeks so no deep feedbak I can give here.

I play rock from SVR, Hendrix, Santana, Zeppeling, Sabbath and originals. I really love this pedal so far. My word of advice is to read other feedback for other manufactures of whawha's I spend 2 days browsing the different categories and manufactures and it was very help full. Last but not the least test it before buying it with a setup as close as what you use when performing. That,s the only way to know.

My setup goes Gibson Les Paul Special SL w/ humbuckers or Fender standard Strat to Crybaby wah to DOD stereo phaser to DOD super sonic stereo flanger to Boss CH-1 to Boss OD-2 to Boss DS-2 to Peavey renown 112 amp. It is a very good sounding pedal, I only wish it would have a longer wah sound example: instead of this-wah it should go like this-waaaaaaah. But otherwise it is a great pedal. I have the limited edition white wah, sounds exactly the same just looks cooler. I play alot of Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and much more.

it is kind of easy to use if you know how to use it, the problem with every wah wah on the market is that you need to rock it back to front to make a wah so if you want alot of fast wahs, you better have practice or you are gonna be the laughing stock, or gonna get a very sore ankle, but it's ok to use, very nice!

i did get it fixed once but it was busted befor i bought it, the battery clip was broken and i got another one for free but it wasn't Jim Dunlop's fault it was the DELIVERY GUY'S FAULT!!

it is the best pedal you will get worth the money, when i told everyone it costs $209 AUD they where shocked and told me i blew the money on some stupid pedal, but when i showed them what the pedal can do on my guitar, their mouths was on the floor, some started to save up for one, some just kept on bugging me about when is my next gig was and sometimes i had to bring a pocket knife to school when i brought my pedal for a gig or a practical, this pedal is legendary

The Cry-baby is really simple to patch in and then use, I found no problems when using wah for the first time.

I use a USA Standard tele through a Marshall VS100 amp. I generally find the clean sound really funky, if a bit trebley, so I tend to stick with a neck pickup. Distorted, the pedal tends to effect the signal less (this is natural methinks) but you can still get some phat Rage style power chords etc. It's also great for experimenting with mad distortion sounds - adjust the pedal and just leave it there - guess it's like using it as an EQ pedal....

Overall, I reckon it sounds well good and is pretty darn versatile...

It weighs about as much as a brick, so it's pretty hard....I have had one problem with it however. Sometimes when I would plug in, the pedal would give out a strange high pitched chirping sound....dunno what that was about but it cleared up in the end...

I tend to use the Crybaby for funk, blues and sometimes for just experimenting with stange sounds etc. Great sounding pedal....

I would like the on/off button to be a bit easier to press however as when playing sitting down, it's very difficult to get the thing on or off!

The best wah-wah i've ever used. sounds great with a fuzz of some type. Sounds better than VOX, in my oppinion. I gave it a nine cuz there's always room to improve. Its has kind of a stuborn rocking motion, but that just takes a little grease and some use.

i've been playin' for three years, i'm 14 now. I have had a lot of practice and i've played in front of 800 of my peers. I like jimi hendrix and pearl jam. Soundgarden too. This really changes how you play. It is a great pedal go out and buy it.

Hey, it's a wah-wah pedal! Originally, the switch on mine was recessed too far and difficult to switch in/out but I adjusted it slightly higher. Still, the design means that you lose a little bit of the pot's range at the treble end. An external housing-mounted switch would be easier to hit and allow you to turn it on anywhere along the sweep range. It's a popular design, but in my opinion, that doesn't make it the best or easiest to use.

Let me be brutally honest. My first wah-wah was a Schaller, and I loved its sound. This is the second Crybaby I've owned-- I was sucked in by the magical name. My first Crybaby was stolen before I had formed much of an opinion of it. I hadn't used this one much until recently, and I realized why I'd shelved it for a bunch of years. The feel produced by the pot's taper and sound of the anemic inductor...sucks! (Especially when you've used a good sounding wah-wah before.) Fortunately, Roger Mayer makes a modification kit which totally replaces all of the innards of this sorry pedal. The pedal housing lets you recoup at least some of your investment. It's a much improved, incredibly good-sounding and good-feeling pedal with the RM guts (despite limitations of the housing design).

Okay-- I'll be charitable and rate this as a middle-of-the-road product. I seriously suggest you test drive some of the other pedals which are out there now. Don't be sucked in by the name, or cheap-out by thinking that all wah-wahs are the same. The wah-wah pedal can be such an important part of your sound that it doesn't make sense to fritter away your bux on a second-rate pedal.

This sucker is built *solidly*, so it's unlikely that it would actually break (thus giving you a reason to get a new pedal). Selling it would be somewhat immoral, so the best you can hope for is for some poor sucker to steal it. (har har.)

Actually, it's a potentiometer-racked design (versus optical), so the pot will eventually get dirty and die.

I play a lot of different styles, but it's mainly distortion/blues/rock with an occasional jazzy feel. I'm an effects junkie of sorts, having made my own custom Frankenstein stompboxes before the digital multi-effects pedals came along. I currently play a Strat through a Twin Reverb. My present setup: modified wah>Fulltone Ultimate Octive>Overdrive>RP-2000 in the effects chain.

If it breaks, I'll fix it. (After I graft the bypass switch on the outside of the housing, no one's gonna wanna steal this pedal.)

Using it with a strat copy,kinda noisy with distortion, but i like it. Sounds good with distortion and not rocking the pedal back and forth too much, like slow up and down movements. Using it with a small crate amp. I believe i can get more various sounds with it, if i mess around witht the foot work more.

Very dependable. Strong as my parent's volvo.

As easy as using any wah. Some have had problems with switching the thing on/off. When I first got this pedal, bought it used, I experienced the same as so many others. No matter how hard I pushed it seemed like the pedals own will was stronger than my foor. I adjusted the on/off swicth's hight and have had no trouble switching since. It's easier to get in by opening the door rather than going through the wall, take some time in adjusting your gear to your standards you'll find playing a lot easier. The adaptor get's disconnected quite easy and the lack of DC does not only take the wah sound off, but doesn't let any sound through the wah to the amp. This may create an interesting,artistic,acoustic turn.

Washburn N-4>crybaby>NS-2(TR-2,PQ-4 and SD-1 looped)>ME-5>Marshall 6100. This wah works really fine with the 6100's 2nd channels '45 and JCM 800 settings, the gain at about 5. I use the '45 and crybaby for playing Hendrix. The clean channel and crybaby adds up a funky wibe, great for 70's disco and Soul. With lower gain settings this thing works like a dream but as the gain increases the problems get bigger. The JCM 900 and LM channel with the crybaby sound pretty bad when using the neck pickup. The notes on the lower strings (E,A,D) get quite muddy and there's little separation whatsoever. If there's a lot of gain involved I use the neck pickup and this pedal mostly for adding depth to riffs or coloring tapping.
This pedal has very wide range, which is pleasing for expression and makes Crybaby versaitile. This coin has also a backside, when you switch the pedal on or off you have to sweep trough the treble boosted frequencies. If you have to change the wah sound quickly to something else a nasty squeek is performed to the audience. This happens to every wah pedal I've played but crybabys wide frequency range makes this problem worse.
You can get interesting intros by playing something with the pedal at treble positions and then switching it off.
Some tricks work some don't, one has to find out which he thinks do.

I bought this pedal used and at relatively low price ($40) and it has proven to be a goldmine. As I've learned it's boundries and capabilities I've got more and more out of it and I think the vain is not going to be dry any time soon. Though I get real shit out of it sometimes I really love this pedal. Quality compared to price would be something like12.

Thin sounding, if your looking for hendrix, clapton, SRV, you won't find it here. I personally don't like the thin sound. I put an overdrive in front and it sounded somewhat better but I just don't like it.

I broke the switch trying to turn it on, and now I can't turn it off,

I have general mistrust for any major corporation, especially ones dealing with mass production of sound related equipment. So I haven't and probably well never deal with Dunlop's customer support.

It was my first effects pedal, I bought it because it was cheap and didn't really worry about the sound, I will admit that it has a good basic wah sound to it and if your not trying to copy anyone's sound it
can be beneficial, but i'm after the hendrix, clapton, SRV sound(who isn't?) And I learned an important lesson that in most cases it's listen with your ears and not the wallet, In attempt to be cheap I now have to spend more money to find the sound I'm looking for. Doh!!

9 cause you have to figure out how to accentuate the notes correctly and spotlight the necessary frequency. Easy then.

Well, I used a couple of their products, incl. some MXR pedals, and I must admit they were buit and sounded just great. Now this GCB95. Two months before I used an Original crybaby circa 1995 for a recording session. I really enjoyed fiddling with it and stuff, then I gave it back to the owner and ordered a one for myself. Then either I was fooled, or what, but the local dealer called me to say Dunlop were not producing exactly THAT one and they make GCB95, which was just the new name. I checked with their site, and it said there WAS NO DIFFERENCE EXCEPT FOR THE POT which was supposed to sound the same and last 200% longer.
Now, IT DOESN"T SOUND THE SAME. Less lows, less highs, a narrower sweep range. Clean, it is still sounds VERY nice, almost like dripping water - which I love to hear - but distorted you have a noticeably smaller range. Less WAH, all in all. Not noisy, smooth switching in comparison with the older ones. Sometimes it may cut the sound dead off while switching, but it happens rarely and if you're too gentle with it :))
Except for that, a definitely worthy product. A real must for a guitar player. But if you play a Gibson LP, set a high gain dist and start rocking, you sound like everyone and his sister - an immediately recognizable tone... But isn't it we all are after? Reproducing THOSE tones...
Now, screw the range. Buy it.

Uh, tank. Hate the new battery placement (you reach via small plastic door at the bottom and you have to put the battery into it). I liked the take-off-the-bottom thing more. And if the pot is REALLY going to live 2 times longer as the manufacturer claims... well, good on me then.

Shit. Emailed the bastards twice, I had EXACT questions, no time wasting - no response, whatsoever. When I had a question for, say, Gibson, they replied in 3 hrs. And they were in the US, I was in Europe, so it was night at their place...

Really good. One of the few REAL products. Worth the money, reliable and legendary. Why the hell did they change the logo, though? My only gripe is a narrow sweep range.

Very simple to play. This was the first effect pedal I've ever bought. Just plug in and begin playing. It's easy to setup, batteries are easy to change, and if you decide to use an ac adaptor, just one plug.

I've never had any other wah pedals to compare it to, but it sounds awesome to me. You can jump right into the Theme From Shaft, and nobody will be any the wiser.

Very sturdy and reliable. I've kicked time and time again, it's no different then the day I bought it. I don't think you can break it.

One of the best effects somebody can have. You could have just started playing guitar a week ago, but as long as you've got this, you can impress any and all of your friends.

Very easy to use, althought turning it on/off requires a good amount of pressure on the pedal.

There is some noise, but enough to be noticeable when I'm playing. My setup is simple: Paul Reed Smith Custom 24-->Crybaby-->Marshall DSL401 1x12 Celestion combo with an Alesis MidiVerb 4 in the effects loop. I use only the tube gain of my Marshall... no distortion or OD stomp boxes, and putting the Crybaby before the overdrive gets that classic wah tone of Hendrix, Claption & Santana.

This is one rugged, sturdy pedal. I have no doubts about it's reliability, having used several in the past with no problems. I would gig with it without a backup.

I play classic rock & blues, reggae & funk. I've been playing for 27 years. I also have a Fender Princeton Plus 112, a Roland Bolt-60, a Jackson PS-4 performer, and a 1936 Marshall cabinet with 2x12 Celestions. I've used the Crybaby since the 70s, and my brand new pedal works and sounds just as good as it did back then. It's a perfect fit for the style of music I play. I would definitely buy another one if this one got stolen/lost. The only other wah I've ever used was a Morley (don't remember model#), and I like that one as well... it had a wider range than the Crybaby, which I liked for heavier rock styles. But for the classic tone, the Crybaby is it!

Once you can get it to turn on, it couldnt be easier. But getting there is the hard part. Half of the time i quit jumping on it and i have to reach down and turn it on with my fingers. Otherwise its very easy and simple.

My setup is simple, mainly because of money problems. I just run it from my Strat to the Crybaby to the amp. The sound is great. At times i would rather have a bit more effect than it has, but thats just when i fiddle around with stuff i write. I can still get the sounds of artists that inspire me though (save some other effects).

Extremely reliable. You can do whatever you want to it and play through it. Well, i havent tried absolutely everything, but im sure no backup is needed.

This product is great for the price. Compared to a Vox Wah (which is twice the price i paid) this one is definately the better buy, even if it costed 50 dollars more. If i lost it i would replace it, if not with this model, than one with a control knob or something. But i wouldnt replace this one unless i needed to.

it is easy to use butt impossible to turn on. you have to jump on the thing to get it on. there are no knobs so it is a no brainer to get a different sound becasue you cant.

i am useing a epiphone sg with a dod distotion pedal through a kustom pa system it sounds fairly good when the distortion is off. it is very noisy i mean noisy when it is used with distortion. on a clean setting it sounds pretty good. a nice funky hendrix meets george clinton.

this thing is a tank. it can take the abuse. like i said it is hard to turn on so you have to put most off your weight onto it.i would use this on a gig with out backup for sure. who ever heard of someone with a backup wah pedal

Well, I bought this pedal second hand and it didn't get the sound i wanted. I took it back and they fiddled with it and now it's excellent. There is absolutely no manual - I expect tohey hope you'll send it off to them at great expense as soon as somthing goes wrong - that sucks. But, it is my first wah and I am really pleased

I use a Les Paul into a Marshall VS-100r. The sound is really thick and you can reach a sort of 'hendrix-esk' tone. With distortion it's pretty nice - although a lot loader in the treble position than in bass. It's also pretty cool on zeppelin and just generally jamming.

This is a well-build pedal. I have recently had to use switch cleaner to get rid of some scratching noises - but that's all cleared up now. This is great to gig with.

Well, I live over here in England, so I can't really send it back to California. I haven't dealt with them.

This is a great pedal. If you want a genuine wah sound - go out and buy this pedal. It's got a good range and it's realiable. Most of the stuff I play (blues, rock,grunge - anything) sounds great with this. TIP: don't just use batteries-this eats them up. It's worth it though.

This pedal is fairly easy to get a good sound out of. It's a bit difficult to get it to turn on and off when sitting, but how many of us are gonna spend hours sitting down and bonding with our wah wah pedals? Quite easy when standing up. The pedal moves easy too. Very nice.

It has a very nice wah sound. Really good on clean, and makes some cool sounds with distortion. Maybe it's just me, but I find making the hum wah when the volume's up high rather cool sounding. My set up- Peavey Raptor-->Crybaby GCB-95-->Peavey Rage 158. Not the best stuff around, but they work nicely together. Never tried it with any other effects, because this is my first pedal. I haven't bothered using it with any songs that it's supposed to go with. I'm more of a write-it-yourself-and-have-some-fun type of person, although I do enjoy playing my fave songs.

I'd say this is one tough wah. It's a tank. Really dependable. I'd definately go to a gig w/o backup. I've looked under the bottom plate... looks easy to fix if anything ever did break. I've put the poor thing through hell with all my stomping on it. Excellent quality.

I like just about every kind of music, therefore I play just about every kind of music. This wah is really cool and sounds better than other pedals I've come across in my searches. Don't remember what they were, though. The only problem would be turning it on and off when sitting, but that's because the pad wore away. Just stick something under there and it's good as new. This pedal didn't do much at all to the signal. Sounded just fine to me. It's really cool with my own compositions. If it were stolen, I'd kill someone. I've been playing for a while, if you care.

The only complaint is it is hard to get it to turn on unless you're standing. But when you're playing live, you won't be sitting. There are no knobs so it is easy to get the basic wah sounds out of it, but there are more sounds you can get from letting it in one position. The sounds are almost unlimited.

An Epiphone Les Paul Special II ->Dunlop Crybaby ->Peavey Bandit 112S. If I had a better guitar, the setup would sound better too, but. Don't have the treble knobs on your amps turned all the way up, I keep them at 7 on dirt and clean channels and still get a good sound. It is very quiet. The sounds are great, they all have a nice edge to them and the bass is really cool. I'd always use it pre-distortion. This probably is one of the greatest effects pedals ever invented because of all the sounds you can get. Great on clean and dirty, I'd use it for solos, anything you need a wah for. Some people said it wasn't good with distortion, but I beg to differ. It doesn't get a 10 because nothing has perfect sound, nothing.

I'd gig without a backup, but I'd bring extra batteries. What they don't tell you is, you can put wheels in place of the rubber legs and mount cannons out of the input/output jacks and use it as a tank. This thing is thick, it could be next to impossible to break, weighs a few pounds too.

I bought it slightly used over Ebay. I play Ozzy, Sabbath, hard rock, metal, Nirvana, and my own style (lot of Randy Rhoads, Iommi, some Cobain.) It works great for everything. I've been playing for about a year and this is my first wah pedal. If someone stole it, I would buy another one and beat them over to head with it. A lot of people said it was too trebley and bad with distortion, but I don't have that problem at all, or maybe I'm lucky. To me, it sounds just like a wah should sound, no knobs, no extra features, just push down and rock it back and forth.
I didn't compare, but a lot of people said the Vox was better. I didn't want the Vox because it doesn't have an external battery adapter (and wah pedals suck batteries down fast) and the Crybaby had the sound I wanted. I heard the Vox has a little bit of a warmer sound. If you want the original wah at a great price, I'd go for this pedal, it is very good! Oh, and I also put the exact same submission under Crybaby, because the GCB-95 and the Original Crybaby are the same pedal.

I'm writing this review to answer some peoples earlier complaints, some people were complaining that the pedal is hard to turn on. This is because the pad under the switch has worn down. Try taping a guitar pick in there on the pad, with a couple adjustments it'll be better than new. This is a very simple pedal to use, press the switch to turn it on, wah it back and forth. People give it a lower rating because it takes awhile to learn how to use it, this is true but its pretty simple once you've played around with it.

Sounds good distorted for all kinds of rock applications, its a bit noisy but probably because I'm running it through 5 other pedals at the same time. I'm playing a Les paul studio through a fender solid state with the crybaby, digitech xp-100, dano daddyo, boss delay, metal zone and flanger.Can get any rage against the machine sound except whammy bar, oh well. With the crybaby and xp-100 I can duplicate the intro to testify by rage. Pretty insane!
overall, I like.

Pretty solid, I bought it off a buddy and he dropped on concrete at school when he was giving it to me, I dented the bottom plate but it didn't do anything to the inards. I don't think you could break it.

If you need a wah, this will be more than enough to do anything you want. I'm really happy with it.

I'ts easy to use, I have no manuals for it because it's a used pedal but nothing wrong with it, they ripped me pretty good on the price.

well I use a westbury at practice and a Crate GX-15 (piece of steaming goat crap) and my guitar is a samick with two single and a hum (noisy with this pedal when distorted all the way)with the pedal down on full gain it squeals badly, I can get a good clean wah with it though, good 70's sounding stuff

it's a rock, I have kicked it around a lot and it holds up good, just remember to unplug it every time and you'll be fine, if not your battery (9v) will be , I recommend an AC adaptor. I would probably gig with it cuz my line up wouldn't be to dependent on the wah, I play old metal and hard rock and bluesy stuff

It matches hendrix stuff well, I've played for about a year and my gear sucks besides this thing, I wouldn't buy a wah if I lost this, I'l buy a DOD multi effects processor or sumthin, be sure you're standing up to play this thing cuz sitting down it's hard to switch from wah to plain or the other way around, I must stomp the crap out of it sometimes to get it too switch while sitting

It's a wah you don't have to be a genius to use one

I used (emphasis on used) this with a Les Paul through my various Marshall and Fender tube amps. It can get noisy at high gain settings, but that's no surprise. The thing that I couldn't deal with was the way it sucked the life out of my signal even when bypassed. The range of sweep is quite short also. Do yourself a favor and buy a Budda - a much better product in my opinion and not that much more expensive.

I have played a wide variety of music during the last 19 years. I found over time that it is well worth the wait to save up for higher-end effects pedals. I kept this one for almost a week before realizing there had to be something better in my price range.

This is one of those pedals you have to get used to using.You can't just plug and play like most effects.This pedal takes time to become good with it.The time you spend using it shows,so practice with it as much as you can.I woundn't say it is impossible to use but to get a good sound it takes some work.

it can get harsh with lots of overdrive with the pedal fully foward.I find it sounds best with my neck pickup.I find you have to be liberal in using this effect ther are many many combinations of motions so use you imagination.I have had this pedal for close to 4 months and i cannot even graze the surface of the possibilities this pedal has.
I havn't heard any other wahs so i can't compare how good it is to othe units.I wouldn't buy this before hearing it in case you don't like it.It's really good but not perfect.

i have dropped it many times and it stiil doesn't fail.it is ruggedly built.i have jammed in a cold garage with my band many times.you have to keep it clean or it gets scratchy.

Simple, click the switch start wahka wah wahing away! Same to turn it off. You may need practice to get the tempo down though.

This is a great wah effect, you usually won't mix this with a chorus, but it sounds psychadelic with distortion or fuzz. I listen to 60's rock, which this effect was first based.

The case is heavy and durable, but it doesn't always turn when I try. I would depend on it at a gig.

I love this effect, and a cyrbaby is the best you can find, I'd buy it again.

Pretty easy to operate but takes a while to use it effectively. Very simple layout with no knobs. I don't like the switch, though. It is too strong, unlike the VOX wahs. I'm going to replace the switch with a True Bypass one.

Good. It has it's own sound. The VOX Reissue has a mellower, more wattery sound. It sounded good with clean to medium gain settings on my Marshall Dual Super Lead. In high gain, it was useless. The crybaby stood out through the heavy distorted settings. So I picked it up. I was going to buy the 535Q but there wasn't a great difference in its modes and it was too heavy for my pedalboard. Its functions, ie. boost, was at the bottom, where velcro would be stuck. I'm also going to adjust the pot since I get too much high end and not enough low thumps. The pedal has the sound but needs to be modified.

It can't get stolen. I use Industrial strength Velcro Gr9. If it broke, then I will get a Fulltone Clyde. This pedal make a pop when not playing, but it's not noticable when playing. Those who complain about it, get a better amp. Good pedal w/o mods. Great pedal w/mods.

The Dunlop Crybaby Original is farely easy to use considering the only thing about them that requires practice is developing a steady rocking speed with your foot.

I use a Rickenbacker 330 through a Mesa/ Boogie DC-2 (sadly they stopped making this great amp.) They effect usually sounds good as long as the batteries are good (last a long time) and is well greased. If you don't properly grease it or push it off til later I guarantee it will squeak louder than it'll wah which sucks. Note: If you use it with a lot of gain , you may pickup short-wave radio through your amp. I like mainly sixties and seventies groups: Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Robin Trower, etc. Can almost always get Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton sounds however Hendrix sounds are a lot trickier since his was modified by Roger Mayer. If you want Jimi Hendrix, save for a Roger Mayer ($369.00) or buy a lower priced one and get the Roger Mayer Wah Mod Kit ($159.00).

I can rely on it but whatever you do, don't forget to grease it or it'll start grinding the pot up and squeak like mad. I would use it without a backup because I like buying new effects and not stockpiling the same thing like some people. Why buy something that needs a backup?

I play rock and this works great for the types of music I play. I have been playing for about one and a half years. I would definetly buy another but might try some others out just for a new (different) sound. Works excellent on Jimi's "Star Spangled Banner" especially with the Mesa's gain maxed. You even getter that weired chirping feedback sound between the notes if you keep rocking the pedal during pauses.

Very easy to use. just push foward on the pedel and go nuts! I'd give it a ten, but the switch is pritty hard to click. Especially when your sitting down. nothing I can't live with. smooth motion back and fourth too. it could be easier to move, but you get used to it.

I own a gibson les paul and a small marshall 15 watt amp. this wah has a great, strong, pronounced effect. It says the effect becomes less when used with distortion. I would have to agree, but i usually use overdrive for nice lead tones, which isnt as harsh. it doesnt seem to lessen when I turn the amp up. this pedel takes away some of your tone when not in use. otherwise I'd give it a ten. its hard to notice when on a clean channel, but when you get a little dirty, its noticable. its worth it, though, once you click it on and hear that crybaby sound. they have so called 'better' models out there with bells and whistles that cost an arm and a leg, but if you just want a 'wah' effect, this is the way to go. try the Vox original wah wah and compare. I liked the crybaby because it had a more pronounced wah. it sounded much better for stuff like 'Dazed and Confused' and 'No Quarter' by Led Zeppelin. Also for lead work. it really enhances your tone when in use.

judging from the metal chassis, this pedel is reliable. definately made for mre than everyday playing and gigs. i throw it around all the time. one problem though, this thing weighs a ton! (just in case you feel like tossing it around) theres no way your gonna ever break the circuit board inside.unless maybe you have your cables connected. on the older models the inputs were separate from the circuit board. in the new ones, the inputs go directly into the board. i guess they never thought of that over at dunlop. without a doubt, reliable. the only real problem; the pot. it's the first(and only) thing to go. on any wah, for that matter. you cant avoid it, but they do last for a very long time. I had bought a used crybaby(same model) a year ago.(not a good idea) the pedel was in good shape. just a few nicks and scraches. it looked to be at least 10 yrs old. the problem was the pot. it was scrachy, and soon died on me. otherwise, it was a great sounding pedel. I had to by another one. couldnt live wothout one.

i enjoy playing 60's, 70's rock and when i need a wah(or just feel like puting one in) it does its job and it does it well. I've only been playing for 2 yrs now (just in case your looking for any credibility) but let me say this; if your looking for a wah wah, you CANT go wrong woth this pedel. check it out for yourself. If it were lost or stolen i'd buy it again. as soon as i could get 80 bucks, of course. its expensive, but dont buy them used. like I said, the pedel lasts, but the pot has its limits. i was much more comfortable knowing that i had a new pot. It would be nice if this pedel had a clear bypass, but otherwise it's a great pedel.

Its a regular wah..Heel down is bypass, toe down tone goes up. But if u use a battery then its hard to acces it, u got to unscrew the bottom.

Sound is good, like a regular wah.. I havent really tryed out any other once, this is my first one, but its sounds really good. The efferct is not noicy in hte heel doewn position, but toe down there is a little noise, probably cuz of my pickups. U basically get the sound of Jimi, Clapton,...etc

Good pedal.. Although this is my first wah, and i didnt try any other once, i love it. Its so great, wahs are great, i love em. And this is the standard by which others are judged.

Man, This pedal is wicked simple. My 5 year old bro could work it. It's easy to get some funky grooves going on, that's what's so great about it. The only thing is that it's a pain to switch on and off. If they ever come out with another modle i'd have a switch not under teh pedal. The manual is ok. I think it's main purpose is to seel you stuff rather than to show you how to use this thing. Though Come on it is rather explanitoy. Pedal... put your... foot on it........and go SPASTIC!!!!

I can get some Wicked sounds outa dis baby. I'm using a strat clone and a peavy audition amp. I have only one other pedal and that is my DOD Americal Metal (FX 56). I put the Wah first in line. I think it sounds just a little bit better this way. It keeps the distortion sound more so than the other way 'round. Sometimes it buzzes but that's becuz i think i have a bad wire. Those are always goin on me. I can get some funky sounds too like Hendrix. I played that RATM song (can't remeber the name) and i think my version sounded even better.

I'm sure i could depend upon it. By the looks of it, it'll out live me. Things Made out of metal usually last for a good amount of time. I dont' really gig much, but i'll definetly show it off to my friends when we jam. I won't have to worry bout batteries cuz i bought a powa supply. The only thing i'm a little worried about is if i'll ever have to grease it.

Man, i give it "3 snaps in a circle". It's just a great pedal. When i first started playing it, it was liek i unleashed a beast. I went wild on it and it reacted quite nicely. I play lotsa stuff. i dig stuff liek Metal, hardcore, classic rock, punk and blues. One band i'd liek to learn some songs from for this pedal is Fu-Manchu. They know how to use a wah. If it got stolen, i'd seek out teh person who stole it and/or definetly buy a new one. i've only been playing a year and a half or so, but i think i recognize some kickin sounds when i hear em. I'm gonna be using this pedal alot from now on. Try to fit it into any new creations or even spice up some old songs(lord knows that's what i've been doin). My favorite part is where you can make it sound liek teh guitar is playing backwards. it's so trippy!

Damn easy to use...push the toe down and its on, push the toe down again and its off.

I play a Tex-Mex Strat through a Peavy amp and it sounds great. My only gripe is that it loses some of the wah sound when I turn the distortion channel on.

If I couldn't depend on it, why would I buy it?

Never dealt with Dunlop, but there isn't much to one. I don't know anything about the internal workings of a wah wah pedal, but I feel that I could repair it if I had to.

I play classic rock: Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc... I works great for what I use it for.

Easy, just plug and rock your foot up and down, and you'll get that bad ass wah sound.

I use an Ibanez 1998 RG170 model with a crappy practice amp. It's not noisy at all unless you add a distortion pedal after it. Man, this thing really rocks!! If you're looking for a good wah, get this one! the rest of the wahs just want to copy it. You can get that sound off of Carlos Santana's song,"Hope you're feeling better", but this wah is better than the wah in that song! Third Eye Blind uses this wah too. I use a DOD FX-50B with this wah(I place the wah before the FX-55B)and it sounds great with distortion! Especially with a clean sound. Just don't use heavy distortion, like the Boss hyper metal and the Metal zone 'cause it will mess up your crybaby. This thing even catches radio stations, I once heard these guys talking in a CB radio

You could defenetly rely on this thing, it's like a metal brick! I would use it a gig! just don't use it around where water or any other liquid would hit it.

I play Alternative rock, hard rock, and Classical rock, this thing works more with classical rock. If it were stolen, I would defenetly go out and buy it again. This thing obeys your foot, move your foot fast, it'll do a fast wah, move your foot slow, you'll make a slow wah. One more thing, ALWAYS PLACE THE WAH BEFORE ANY EFFECT! I've noticed that.

REALLY easy to use, just step on the thing, and move your foot back and forth, no controls to mess around with. The manual is ok, tells you how to operate the thing and change the battery and all that stuff. These things have not been upgraded, exccept for the AC adaptor connector, I think

I use the pedal with a 1998 Ibanez RG170 guitar. It's kinda noisy when you add another effect after with the distortion high, but if you use it alone, it's quiet, and like I said, it has no controls. The sound is AWESOME, this wah is it! It sounds very much alike to Carlos Santana's,"I hope you're feeling better." I use it with a DOD FX-55B and ALWAYS connect it AFTER the crybaby. It sound pretty darn good with the FX-55's distortion all the way up, but it sound better clean.

I use equipment, not abuse. I can very much depend on it with my uses, but if you go out and gig on some place where they spill beer and all that stuff, it'll probably wouldn't survive. If you abuse equipment, I recommend you to get a backup, but if you're the kind of person who kinda abuses stuff, I guess you won't need a backup. Remember, this thing is like a big metal brick.

I play alternative rock and classical rock, this pedal works better with classical rock. I've been playing for 4 years and I own a DOD Fx-55b and 55. If this thing were stolen, I would defently buy it again. My favorite feature about it is the way you can chhange it's effect, like for example, if you rock it slow, it'll make a slow WAH sound, and if you rock it fast, it'll make a fast WAH sound. I compare it with ALL the wahs out there, everyone just wants to cpoy its sound! I wish I had a digital delay with this pedal. One more thing, ALWAYS connect an effect AFTER the crybaby, unless you want to REALLY kill your sound.

Very easy to use. No controls except expression pedal. Toe down = treble, toe up=bass. Not easy to turn on-off. Good sounds are easy, with distortion it gives you great rock/metal effect, without distortion it gives you classic funk sound. Manual is pretty light, but explains everything.

Good with MT-2 (Metal Zone) or pretty much any fuzz/distortion. I am using a Samick strat copy with a Samick 10 watt buzzbox, and there is no noise, even with wah and distortion on. Effect always is good, although bass is kinda hard to hear sometimes, especially with distortion off. Good Hendrix/Clapton sounds, and pretty much any other rock guitarist. Also Satriani.

I've only had it two days, but it is like a brick with a pedal on top. I don't stomp the shit out of it, so I'd use it without a backup (I couldn't afford one anyway)

I play mostly Thrash stuff, but also psychadelic stuff and it suits my sound fine. I also own a MT-2 Metal Zone. If it was stolen or lost, I'd kill myself because I can't pay for a new one. I chose it over the Mr. Crybaby, the VOX and Morely wahs because of the price. BUY IT BUY IT BUYIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to stand when turnin' it on. Other wise you just stomp out the rythym. Get them outta rythym stuff takes practice though. wish the manul would give more tips.

I use a trash strat droid (synsonics?) a boss super overdrive and a peavey classic chorus 212 amp. This pedal makes you crazy, youstart plain guitar with your foot now. The tone inspires that 70's stuff I guess. I just went wild over it. if you put it thru the fx loop u get a volume boost great for solos. I place it every where in my small chain but I find it's best in the fx loop.

looks like it could take a 20 pound hammer, but if only had it for four months.

I find it's awsome for soloing but tyring for rythym. I'd buy it again in a flash. It creates a whole new creative level. I wish there were multiple tones and an automatic wah like my friends korg. If I had the money I'd get the Korg multi wah for rythym and the crybaby with the torres mod, for lead and ron them thyrough the fx loop. Imagine Two awesome wahs

My 2 year old can operate it. Her rhythm needs a little work though!

Not too bad but I haven't used any other wah to compare it to. The main problem I have is with the noisy pot. And it seems to cut the signal from the instrument quite a bit even with the pedal turned off. Another (seemingly common) problem is with the on/off switch. It was very hard to switch when I first got the pedal but the good thing is that it is very easy to fix. The button can be raised by adjusting the nut that hold the switch in place on the inside of the pedal. This saves you from having to jump up and down on the thing to turn it on or off.

Mine is currently broken. It sat unused in my semi-humid basement for about a year. I decided to mess with it last week and its now dead.

The wah effect is a great way to add emotion to your riffs. I will probably try to get this one fixed. If it is not fixable I will shop other products and read more reviews before buying another crybaby.

wah pedal, need more explanation? although it is kind of a pain to take the whole thing apart to change the battery.(espically, if your in a hurry, like mid-show, and the singer has to ramble on so you can change it!)

i just wanted to say that, on bypass, this thing sucks your treble away!, and if you leave it on, with the pedal pushed foward, it will pick up radio stations!maybe mine is just one of those "strange" ones of the bunch.besides that, sounds great, the wah that has made music history.maybe not the best, but good sound for the price.

these things are a huge chunk of metal, just baby that pot, and it should never quit.i want to buy broken ones cheap. and rewire them to be expression pedals for all my gear, because i know they will never break.

i think it is a good value for the sound.just be prepared to crank all your treble up on eq's after it.i need to rewire it for true bypass, just havent got around to it.they might have fixed this with the newer ones, though. i got this through a trade, and it is all beat up, rubber stuff all ripped of, scratched up, but it works well.

If a wah-wah pedal isn't easy to use, I don't know what is. :) Just click and move up and down with your foot. The only suggestion would be to adjust the rubber "feet" on the bottom of the pedal to where you like them. You can cut them if you want. Otherwise, it's sometimes hard to "click" the wah on and off. Other wise, a "10".

The Dunlop GCB-95 is a good sounding wah pedal. It was my first wah pedal and is one of the most popular wahs on the market. I've owned 2 of these same Crybabys and although I enjoyed them when I had them, I won't go back to using them. I much prefer my Vox V847 re-issue. The sound quality is very good however. Good on clean sounds and distorted. I just find I've outgrown the tone of these pedals and the Vox just seemed to have more of what I was looking for. (ie: TONE!) :)

I find the Dunlop pots to wear out and get scratchy quickly. I've owned 2 of these pedals and they both felt a little different from each other. Kind of strange since they're made ruggedly. I've found my Vox and it's original pot to hold out longer although I'd like to try a Fulltone "Clyde" pot which they say lasts a lot longer than your standard wah pot.

I've e-mailed Dunlop on occassion about their MXR pedals, but not asking anything about these Crybabys. They answered quickly and precisely. Most guitar companies I've dealt with through e-mail with general questions have be kind and helpful.

The Dunlop GCB-95 Crybabys are very popular wahs mainly because of the price and sound. I found that I prefered the Vox wah over the Dunlop a GREAT deal. I owned a Morley PWA wah and disliked it a lot. I don't like how you have to push the pedal down parallel to the floor and I didn't like the tone. It was kind of sterile and it reminded me of Kirk Hammett's (of Metallica) wah sound which I can't stand! I enjoyed owning the 2 Dunlop wahs I had, but I honestly don't see using any other wah besides a Vox or a Fulltone Clyde. Everyone seems to slam Dunlop, but they make great, reliable gear, even if their re-issues aren't EXACTLY the same as the original models.

The crybaby is a traditional good wah pedal.You just click your toe on the front of the pedal and it's on.And swing your foot to alter the sound.Push up with your heel for a bassier wah,push down with your toe for that hendrix screaming treble.Battery compartment is a little awkward though.Takes a bit of practice to get used to.

I was using my zoom 9000 and my customized strat,with a small marlin practice amplifier,And it sounded great! I left it on the reble and didn't bother changing the sound of the pedal with my foot.Very jimi hendrix and clapton (not to mentio slash) Add only a little bite of distortion or you'll take your head off!

The pedal is constructed like a tank and will take years of abuse. I use it always now,and don't have to worry about breaking it!

This pedal is a must for all rock and funk guitarists! This pedal is what will give you those screaming solo's and chunky rythms.i've only had it for awhile and i love it!! This is the only wah pedal you should buy and all you will ever need.It will always be a part of my sound and i will always use it.Go find one and buy it now!!! Rock on!

Sometimes its hard to turn on, as you have to step on it to activate the effect, but once it's on, it sounds great. There's really not much to say about how to use it, just rock yer foot back and forth.

Through a Peavey guitar and Crate amp, she sounds great. Of course the distortion gives bite, and when played clean it is crystal clear. You get good sounds for guys like Guns N Roses, Cream, Metallica and other rockers. My only problem is that dust can get in the exposed pot and this makes it sound "hissy". Go to Radio Shack and pick up some cleaning spray and give it a squirt when you get the problem. I keep it in a bag when Im not playing, and this helps.

Like I said, when the pot gets dusty its a pain, but the thing has been very durable. I got it used with out any problem to it, and I havent had any complaints yet. I cant afford a backup, but I probably wouldnt get one anyway, cuz not having a wah for half a gig isnt the end of the world.

I play rock music and thats obviously what its built for. A great buy.

since no manual was included with this particular pedal i will just have to add my own! to turn the pedal on...STEP ON IT! to turn the pedal off..STEP ON IT! to USE the pedal (ala the great Kirk Hammett) rock it back and forth in any desired rhythm or to accentuate certain notes...and i find it pretty cool to keep it in the treble position and play (sounds pretty cool to me)

i use a peavey high gain amp with a 300 watt peavey cabinet in my band i also use a kramer rhoads-type V with locking trem and seymour duncan distortion high-output humbuckers (dont try to get my guitar cause they dont make em anymore and they are extremely rare especially the neptune, new jersey type) i have been playing with this pedal for a year and a half ((in the life of metallica hehehe)) and it ALWAYS sounds great..no scratchy, weak sounding noises! whenever i plug this pedal in with some heavy distortion and improvise on a solo...it sounds great i would say 95% of the time! it also sounds GREAT on clean...and as i said before this sounds ALOT if not exact like kirk hammett of metallica (im pretty sure this is the kind he uses) distortion is great...never tried with chorus...delay can make for some cool ideas :) i heard flanger is pretty neat with it... but all in all...if youre looking for a cool wah pedal for metal or rock or whatever you play (i play metal) hehe...it sounds great! although the only problem i face (avid metallica fans know what im talking about) i cant get that REAL heavy wah sound in the beginning of "the outlaw torn" (last track on Load-1996) but it doesnt matter cause they use an auto-wah for that!

I can depend on this as if my life depended on it (with the exception of a dead battery) it is made up solid steel and EXTREMELY hardened rubber the kind you couldnt jackhammer through! and no i wouldnt use it as a backup on a gig (not to mention the fact i cant afford another but they are fairly cheap) i got it for christmas a couple years back, and it has not crapped out once...(and i beat this thing to death)

never ever had to deal with customer support...and have a very strong feeling i never will!

all in all...this thing is GREAT! i have heard morley and vox wahs! and well, though they are good for some things...dunlop surpasses them in all...i hear people complain about no led light, well...all you have to do is STEP ON IT! and when you feel it click! (and there is no mistaking it) then its on and vice versa! this thing improves my solos DRASTICALLY! if this thing ever got stolen or lost, i would just buy another one.. its that simple! in other words...buy it...hehe..buy it now!

Just a simple wah, folks. Not much to explain here.

This is one of the best wahs out there, much more organic than a Morley or some other type of photo-optic pedal. Frequency operating range could be somewhat fatter, I guess, but this one is still very good. Wah is kind of abrupt. Try hooking it up backwards, and, while you won't hear your guitar at all, you sometimes can get some pretty crazy sounds by rocking the pedal. This works best with distortion. Of course the thing sounds bad when the pot craps out, as any pedal would. Under these circumstances, it gets very noisy. I still prefer the Vox sound.

I use this thing on gigs without a backup, and it hasn't let me down so far (Except once when I forgot to put a battery in!, but that was my fault). The real reliability question comes when discussing the potentiometer. The thing got really scratchy and noisy within two years after I bought it. This wouldn't be so bad if the pedal didn't use a sealed pot (I couldn't squirt tuner cleaner in to fix it). New pots cost about 25 clams, and if you can't do it yourself, that'll cost you another 10 or 20.

For funk and fusion, this pedal does the trick. If it were stolen or lost, I would probably spend a few extra bucks and get a Vox Chrome top, just because I like the operating range a little better-a matter of opinion. Overall, this is a really good pedal for a good price.

Just step on the pedal with slight pressure and it's on. Rock the pedal back and forth for a wah sound. Cant get any simplier than this

I use the wah pedal through my effects loop on my crate gxt100 combo amp using an ibanez rg450dx guitar. The sound is nice and smooth, it's not very noisy for me but since i play loud anyways, so I wouldn't notice any noise.
On high volumes using the treble filter (pedal forward) can hurt your ears. The bass filter (pedal up) is not weak sounding as i've heard from some other people.
However one thing that gets to me is when i start using the pedal is when I turn the thing on and i hear this big pop noise but it goes away after minutes of use. Funny thing is this only happens when i use my fx loop but when i patch through direct from my guitar to the amp, the pop noise doesn't occur however in this method but the wah is weak and very noisey.

batteries take ages to drain. Thing is made out of metal so i suppose it's durable and i'd use it in a gig without a backup

I've been using this pedal for almost a year now. Hasn't given me any problems whatsoever except for that pop noise as i mentioned above but i suppose you should wait a few minutes before using boxes through the fx loop <?>.
i play mostly a funk and metal style with it and it works good on clean and a distorted tone. This pedal is very versatile in terms of sound.
One thing that would be nice on this pedal is a led light to see if pedal is on or not.
I have yet to see the problems that arose for other owners of this pedal.

Very simple to use.

Some noise with quiet imput in far toe position. A noise gate or noise reduction unit might help. The noise is not noticable over a drummer and bass, howevever.
I also noticed that the sound varies greatly depending on your amp. I have a cheaper solid state amp here that the crybaby sounds very poorly with. It sounds excellent with an older Gretch tube amp I have, and sounded very good with the Crate practice amp I tested it on at Guitar Center.

Indestructable. My friend has the same device, we used to stand on his all the time.
I purchased the power adaptor, so battery life isn't an issue.

Haven't talked with Dunlop.

This thing is a whole lot of fun... Now I can play mad disco riffs and cheesy slow wah-wah muzak like in those low-budget porno flics... Totally elite.

Very simple to use. Some people complain about the bypass switch being hard to switch, but I have no problem with it(unless I'm sitting down). I wish it had an LED, but otherwise its great.

Is it noisy? Yes. Does it pick up radio stations? Occasionally. But I love Crybaby wah anyway. It has great range, and a smooth sweep. Its also very useful as a filter(i.e. STP Vasoline). The first song I played on it was Voodoo Child. I then played Bulls on Parade. I knew this was the wah I was looking for.

I've heard some bad stories about these things, mostly about the pots and switches. I've talked to a few people, and have heard both good and bad. No problems so far. The unit itself is very sturdy.

I would buy this pedal as many times as I needed to. I was going to get a Morley Bad Horsie, but it didn't anywhere near as good as the Crybaby. I didn't want to sacrifice tone for dependability. It was pretty expensive too. That's what's great about the Crybaby; even if they're not as dependable as other wahs, the price is low enough, and the sound is good enough to make it worthwhile.

this pedal i would say is quite basic.toe down for on/off.only thing is you don't know whether it is on or not unless you strum the guitar coz there ain't any LED display.there isn't any manual included though.just a warranty with some tips and how to put the battery in it.to put a battery in is a bit of a hassle.you have to open all 4 rubber feet(but i just open two which i think is enuff) to put the battery in.the battery drain is not much.but i suggest adaptors at all times.

the sound quality is great.it is better on clean though.even with the wah in one place it sounds great.you can try out different kinds of tones with it despite being a wah pedal.

it is very dependable.built to last like a tank.although i haven't gigged with it-yet i think it doesn't need any back-up.

overall it is a good buy and i think i would buy more of it if i have the money and better skills.i don't really know how to control it.one thing that lacks is no LED and you have to change the pot when it is scratchy.but not till the next 20 yrs or so!comparing to a morley i think it has better sound quality.anybody who has any techniques please email me.

No manual came with mine. Pretty easy to set up and use. "Amplifier" and "Instrument" are plainly marked on the top when you're plugging in cables. Mine seemed a bit stubborn at times when stomping in and out of the wah function. I can only blame the factory for setting that up poorly. Simple fix was to remove the bottom and adjust the switch height by moving the nuts that hold it in there. Anyone can do it. Otherwise, Ease-Of-Use should have been a 10.

What a disappointment! From the beginning, it sounded weak, thin, and not at all like Jimi or Stevie or...(pick your personal favorite and insert name here). Was it their mega-million dollar guitars and amps that made their wah-wahs sound so much better? Didn't hurt, that's for sure, but here's what I found. When I started whining to a local repair guy, he described my pedal's sound to me, without ever hearing it, as if it were his. We agreed that "whicka-whicka" was the best it could do. And the older it got, the scratchier it sounded. Solution? Certainly not throwing good money after bad by replacing the stock pot. A "hot-rodded" pot with a much wider bass/treble response changed everything. Now it sounds like Trower and all those guys who played the beautiful singing guitars I grew up with. It's that simple. Listen to a stock one, then listen to a sweet one. Night and day difference. Sounds like a human crying, which is kinda what a lot of blues is all about. It speaks now, and really says "wah-wah." And the whole sound quality is smooth enough to leave the pedal on any setting for really remarkable tone adjustments, not just wahs. It's fixed. Another cool mod was to bypass the pedal circuitry altogether when it is switched to OFF. That ran a few extra bucks, but was well worth it. All pedals tend to take a little off the sound of a guitar compared to just running a straight cable to the amp. This fixed that problem which is very noticable at high volumes. Try it. ON or OFF, it sounds better. $65 later, it's finally a 10.

Before or after, the Cry Baby is about as reliable a pedal as you will find. It's built like my Jeep - heavy and durable. Lives up to the term "Stomp Box." I've gigged with it, thrown it back in a bag with my other toys, then gigged some more. It's bullet proof. Another tip is to superglue the bottom plate screws to the rubber feet they poke through. Then when you swith batteries, you can just spin the feet off without a phillips screwdriver.

Yes, all the other stock ones I've heard and played (this is my second) needed the same aftermarket mods to get that sweet tone. I honestly can't say I've dealt with the company. The guy who turned my $65 doorstop into a musical instrument is Jeff Snider in San Diego at (619) 565-4079 - he fixes/sells cool amps and stuff too (say thank you Jeff). Any good repair shop in any city will know what you're talking about if you take yours in. Let them sell you, I'm just giving you the idea.

If I ever part with this one, I'll buy another stock one (maybe used for a better price) and get the same work done. It's just that good. I've heard those auto-wahs and they sound great in the right tunes, but I prefer the amount of control the true pedal provides. It's heavy enough so it doesn'y kick around or flop over, and it's a great landmark with which to mark your turf onstage and let the bass player know he's too far from home. When you hear a really good one, ask the guitarist between sets. It's probably been reworked. Bottom line? This is all opinion - one guy's opinion. But in my opinion, a long overdue fix put a lot of thrilling sounds into what I hear when I play my guitar.

This pedal is really easy to use.When I first bought it i thought it would be hard to play and use this pedal at the same time but its not. This pedal didnt have a manual because if you need a manual you are a stupid person and should not be playing the guitar at all.

The DUNLOP CRYBABY has a wonderful sound, I personally think it sounds better than an auto-wah.Th effects of the pedal are great and I like them.

I can depend on this pedal because it does what I want it to.I would definitely use this pedal in a gig,I could'nt imagine preforming one without it

I love the sound quality of this pedal,if I had to I would purchace it again.I compared this pedal with other wah pedals,Morley,Boss and DOD this one was the best.This pedal is great if you are in a band,it is very useful

Almost can't be easier. Push toe down to turn on, WAH WAH WAH, then push toe down again to turn off.

Very Good, but not perfect. When it's off it is fine, but when it's on it is a little scratchy, but usually I'm jamming very loud so I can't hear it.

It is VERY dependable. It's steel so you can drop it, stomp on it, or throw it into the crowd without hurting it. A backup unit probably wouldn't be necessary.

This unit kick major BUTT. I would definently buy this unit again. It's very durable and easy to use. Compared to the Morley, this unit is TEN TIMES more durable. The only thing I wished it had was a LED. There are LEDs on the Mister Crybaby and other more expensive units. I can break out into a solo and this adds a lot to it. For $58 I you can't get a better unit.

Anybody that has ever used an effects pedal can use Crybaby. I know small kids that jamm with them.

It has a real nice high and Dunlop now uses a good quality pot in them so the scratchy noise from the pot has been eliminated.

Can be summed up in one phrase "built like a tank"! A direct hit from a missle wouldn't scratch the case. I have seen one dropped from six feet had a slight dent but still played as if it were untouched.

Yes, It is a fantastic value especially with the new pots they are using now. I do not think I will have to buy another one though the way this one is built. You could run over this pedal with your car (although not recommended) and still take it to a gig and produce some quality sounds. I would recommend to all!

very straigth forward, though sometimes difficult to turn on and off [or to tell whether the thing is on or off].

when it worked, the sound was great. a very general and usable wah. it can do whatever you want. feedback with this pedal and flange is totally cool.

this pedal is notorious for malfunctioning. the first one i bought was broken when i took it out of the box [new]. once repaired, it worked for a few months [of very light use], then the scratching began. i tried again and again to claen the pot, but nothing seemed to work. finally, i removed it, cleaned it, replaced it, and now it does nothing but squeel like a sick baby. horrrible.

i don't know who was responsible for the first repair [guitar center or dunlop], but they were pretty quick.

i think i'll buy a vox, or a morley volume/wah next time. the morley is supposed to be very quiet, and more dependable.

Now if you don't know how to step on a pedal to make it work, go to the bathroom, stick your head in the toilet, and flush it a few times, stupid!

This pedal rules. Espesially if you like Jimi. It can sceam like a baby on fire or sing like Reba.

It has a very rugged construction. I use the ac adapter so I don't have to worry about batteries, but I keep one on hand just in case.

I've only had it a little while, so I wouldn't know.

I love this pedal but it could use an auto setting. I like the manual part, but my foot just can't go fast enough. I also tried the Ibanez auto- wah, and I liked it, too.
