It is a unity gain pedal, but I couldn't get a "boost" in volume without turning up the gain. So the only way to increase volume, was also to dramatically increase the gain, which caused enormous overdrive. Which I don't want.

By itself, with me and an amp, I was able to get a nice tone. However, when playing with others, the only way to get sufficient sound was to get way too much overdrive. I play a Les Paul, so with single coil PuPs, maybe it would work better. I am playing it through a small 5 watt tube amp (Gibson Les Paul Jr.) Les Paul into Carl Martin Compressor, Mucho Busto, Voodoo Lab Tremelo, Holy Grail Reverb, Vox Volume Pedal, Les paul Jr Amp.
The Overdrive is very loose, the sound is very similar to a Boss Blues Driver, but more sloppy.

It wasn't a good match for me. No subtle overdrive. I have been playing for 20 years.

This pedal sounds amazing at any setting. With only the three traditional distortion pedal knobs and a fat/norm switch, it could not get any easier to dial in beautiful tones. However it takes a while to find your preference.

The Mucho Boosto sparkles with sound quality. I'm playing an american strat into a '59 bassman reissue and man this is some real beauty. It reminds me of the kinds of distortion used on that Television album "Marquee Moon". Nothing too over the top and nothing cheesy, just plain and simple, nautural sounding tube overdrive. Plus there is hardly any noticeable noise even when playing with single coils. The tone knob is very responsive.

I gig without a backup. It seems very sturdy, especially the switch which is of course the easiest thing to break.

I play anything from jazz to folk and this pedal excells with all genres. The fat switch is very useful for switching between solos and harmony. When playing chords I usually use it on the norm setting and for solos switch it to fat. The manual says to use the norm setting for hollow body guitars and humbuckers and the fat for single coils. Well, it does take some experimenting to find which works best for you, but the range of overdrive sounds one can get is amazing and inspiring. I a/b'ed the mucho boosto with some of the higher quality green Maxon overdrive pedals and the fat/norm switch is what sold me on this one. It just has a greater possibility of sound. And besides a strat can sound like a strat through it!

Simple to use and easy to get great tones right out of the box--only three controls and a switch to fiddle with.

My set-up is minimal, I've dumbed down my gear for live shows to a maple neck telecaster-Mucho Boosto-66 Super Reverb or Germino Masonette amp. I used to lug around a lot of pedals, but now I keep it simple. I'm not a crazy tone purist but I've grown to prefer the tone of my guitar straight into the amp. Unlike most of the drive pedals I had used before now, this one doesn't drastically alter or color my tone. It is not totally transparent but it sure is close. I set it for a mild overdrive sound and the tone is excellent. The last reviewer said that the pedal was inspiring and that is true. The Mucho Boosto makes me want to play and I am more confident about my tone. I advise everyone to go to a store and try one of these out.

The pedal is expertly made from high quality parts so it should hold up for a long time.

I've played in bands off and on for about 13 years and have gone thru a lot of overdrive pedals (boutique and mass produced), and this one is a keeper. I would quickly replace it if it were lost or stolen. The Mucho Boosto quickly became a crucial part of my sound.

As straightforward as they get.
Gain, Level, and Tone Controls plus a Fat/Normal switch.
I prefer the Fat setting.

Using it primarily with a Fender Strat with Fralins Vintages Hots and Steel Pole in Bridge. Primary amp is a Fargen Epic 30 through a 2-12 Matchless CAB with Celestions Blues. Chain looks like this:
Demeter F/C>Mucho Boosto>Sex Drive>Maxon AD900 Delay>Guyatone MR2 Reverb>Fargen.
The Demeter Fat Control give the Mucho a little added mid oomph when using a Strat Bridge pup. Think RF type tones.
The Mucho Boost is extremely quiet. Switching is also silent, No pops at all.
I go for a fairly natural overdrive tone with out too much compression and mids. The Mucho excels at this.
I run a Demeter Fat Control into it and set the Mucho Boosto up for moderate gain (10 o'clock).
The Mucho Boosto is very natural and articulate, maybe a hint of coloration but it really retains the essence of what you put into it. The wound strings have a beatuiful growl and bloom to them.
Full Bass response and the Highs are full of harmonics and thick, not thin and edgy. This pedal is very inspiring.
The Durham Sex Drive is a perfect compliment to the Mucho Boosto as it provides a nice bump for soloing without altering the basic tone.

Alan Durham uses top quality parts and Carling Switches.
I expect the pedal should hold up with the best of them.
No Backup needed.

I play a mix of Rock/Blues Jazz and this fits into all the categories. Been playing over 35 years.
I hate to pigeon-hole a pedal by type of music.
If the pedal sounds inspiring, it will work in almost any style music and this one does just that.
If it were lost or stolen I would definetley replace it.
I've compared this to many of the boutique stuff out there, but I don't want to list them as it may imply they are subpar to this. Rather, I prefer to say this pedal is very inspiring, period.
I rarely do products reviews but I feel this pedal deserves some notice.
