Operation is very simple and easy. Even if it did not read a manual, I could understand immediately.

Not perfect but best at now.
The change noise when switching effect/bypass is not felt at all as many users feel actually. I think that it is very important.

It is heavy but sense of security is felt for a strong case.

A price is high although it is simple Effector only with one function. However, there is a performance which deserves the price.

Although is is designed as an octave pedal, I found a number of settings that provided a nice distorted sound. It even provided an octave drop on the B string of my acoustic.
One thing I really enjoyed was the clear bypass. Other octave pedals seem to alter the sound even when in the bypass mode.

The pedal worked great for seven months then the problems began. The pedal's bypass stop working and was distorting the sound with the pedal off. When on, the pedal just buzzed.

I don't believe the term customer support exists in the the world of EBS. First, the dealer I purchased the pedal from refused to honor the one year warrantee unless EBS sent me a letter stating that it had a warrantee. In trying to contact EBS, they told me to contact the US distributor but refused to give me their name and address.
After locating the US distributor on my own. They exchanged my pedal for a refurbished pedal, unfortunately this pedal did not work. No effect when switched on regardless of the knob positions. The distributor agreed to exchange the pedal again but I have yet to see and probably will never see the pedal again.

When the pedal worked, it was my main effects pedal. I like to use smaller gauge bass strings and this pedal allowed me to get some deeper tone when I needed it. Unfortunately, the realiablity and customer support has forced me to think only negatively about this pedal. I have since found other ways to create the tone I what. If the distrubutor ever sends my replacement pedal back, I doubt that I will use it.

It's got 2 knobs - ridiculously easy! First knob for clean tone, second for octave.

It's very quiet and clean. Octave effect is clear and the box tracks fairly well - sometimes even down to an A on yer bass. It doesn't gurgle and blub like most other octavers.

Since I play funky groove music, it fits in really well, and shakes yer booty. Now I have Ampeg SVP-PRO preamp, EBS 800W power amp and EBS 4X10" cab. It fits in nicely. Of all other boxes, this has the cleanest and most accurate tracking, so this is it.

I use a fender fretless jazzbass and a daion markII (both 4-stringed), I've also used the effect with a mexico-made fender fat-strat budget guitar. The octabass triggers fast and quiet. The pitched sound is a bit artificial in itself (as always with Octave effects ?) but together with the original sound the result is great. What puzzles me a bit is that the effect works well and triggers on both guitar (much better than my boss OC-2, and the EBS sound is in my opinion more "natural" to) and on the bass ranging down to low E ! (where it "squeieeks") except for C and surrounding notes on the G string on both basses. Maybe it has something to do with the settings of my basses since the same tones triggers OK when played on the other strings, I have not got a clue - anyway this little effect makes me sound bassier, heavier and cooler than I am and as long as You're not into a music genre relying heavily on C played on the G-string it will probably do the same thing for You. Note that the above not considers "thumbfunking" playing styles where the octabass triggers poorly using my basses. It also only works playing/triggering one note at a time (as all pitchshifters I've tested)- no chords here please.

Noiseless in operation
No click when using f/switch either.
This unit has a sweet "musicality" the others lack (Boss,Zoom etc).Tracking is better than other pedals but still not 100% perfect
- maybe more down to my bass than the Octabass.
I mostly use it with the normal knob at 3 o'clock and the octave at
12 o'clock using the bridge pick-up to cut through the band's sound. Neck pick-up makes it sound too wooly.
One word of warning - when you stomp on this thing it boosts your signal by a few dB so if your amp is running at full tilt it's going to clip and this sweet octave box will sound really rough.

It's not plastic, it's chunky!
Battery life is long (when it goes your sound goes too) although
the LED doesn't seem to dim to indicate low power.

I've played bass for around18 years and always wanted a decent
octave pedal...it took me nearly 16 years to find one!
Octavers for bass are never perfect, the EBS is probably the best one out there right now.
It isn't cheap, but you'll be happy...it's only money anyway!!!
If the quality of the Octabass is an EBS standard, I can't wait to try out the EBS Bass IQ envelope filter - another thing on my bass wish list.

The triggade tone sounds pretty synthetic when it's alone, but when you mix it whit the normal tone i sounds great. It triggs tones down to B at the A string, and G at the E string. The only tone i've had a problem whit is them high C (5 fret at the G string). I don't know why, but i think that there are some intonation problems.

Just two knobs. One for the normal bass signal and one for the octave signal. This is a very easy to use pedal. It tends to work best in the 5-9 fret range for bass.

I bought this because of a review I read. I agree that this is the best bass octaver I've ever heard. It tracks the best. It rarely glithes when playing two finger style. If you want to know which professionals use owns one of these I know Marcus Miller has one in his live pedal set-up. In fact, he replaced his Boss Octave with it. Steve Lukather has one and Stanley Clarke endorses it.

If I lost or broke it, I would buy another one. As far as I know, there isn't a better octaver for bass. It may not be the cheapest one but it's a worth more than two crappy octavers. Of course because the Octabass is so smooth, you may want another one just to get that typical slightly fuzzy sound.

Extremely simple to use. 2 knobs (one for original tone and one for octave tone) allow you to custom blend your effect- you can completely eliminate your original tone and fool people into thinking you're playing some freaky tuning.
Sound Quality

Pedal is quiet both active and passive. It's best used for single tones- when you play multiple tones simultaneously, it shifts between the stronger tone to give you the octave effect, and on the lower notes (don't try below A) it doesn't track quickly, if at all. However, you can get the fattest sounds you've ever heard coming out of your bass when you play anything higher than a C- especially high up on the neck.

I've had the pedal several months and taken it overseas with me on a ship and it still sounds great. The unit is a solid steel box with a heavy duty stomp switch and rugged knobs- built like a brickshithouse!

This is my favorite pedal (the only one right now, unless I can find an old MuTron!!)It was definitely worth the price and I reccomend it to anyone wishing to beef out their sound. Try slapping an octave higher with both knobs at mid position for some bowel-crunching sounds.

This pedal has Two Knobs and 1 foot switch. It is very easy to use. Click on the main on/off switch, adjust the "normal"knob -volume of input and then adjust the "Octave" knob-the volume of the synthesized signal. The instruction sheet describes a little how-to, but lets face it you can figure it out.

This is where this pedal blows away any other "octave' pedal- the sound that comes out is FAT A truely unique thick, ballsy -fat sound. It really beefs up the higher register notes In the off position, there is a slight increase in volume (gain), with a bit of hiss, but not bad at all. I haven't found a bad mixture of settings yet. But this pedal does have problems with the very low notes, anything below B/C on your E string causes it to spew gobblygook.

I Can't comment on the reliability yet-only have had it for 1 month. It is made out of steel ,it feels really rugged. The two knobs are glued on, they feel a bit shaky but no problems yet. I would guess thats its well constructed. So far, So good.

This pedal is far superior to any other "octave" pedal available. I've tried both Boss Octave, and DOD octplus and they struggle with anything bass-note wise. This pedal sounds really musical, very different and will fatten up any combination of notes I've tried(although really low notes and two note chords give it problems). It does take some getting used to, and doesn't track flawlessly (it gurggles on the low notes), but compared to the Boss unit, this is the balls I would certainly buy it again, and I hope EBS makes other products like this or better.
