Incredibly - anyone who's twiddled with a chorus before will get superb sounds within seconds. The fact that the jacks are the 'wrong' way round takes some getting used to, and is my only complaint.

Sound Quality : 10
Wow - THE best chorus. Full stop.
Absolutely pi@&es on pretty much every other chorus out there (and I've used pretty much every one, including most of the vintage and expensive boutique stuff). The only one I prefer over the Red Twister is the Retro-Sonic Chorus, but only because that is an absolute sonic clone of the CE-1 (although it isn't nearly as versatile as the Red Twister).
This unit will certainly give you that classic CE-1 sound (although there is less 'smoothing' of the sound as with a real CE-1) as well as more subtle, spacial choruses and over-the-top, underwater warbles and leslie/vibratone effects.
The flanger is excellent, although it will not do those massive, jet-plane effects (but will certainly get your Andy Summers-type tones).
The pedal is whisper quiet, true-bypass, has an LED which flashes in time with the rate and is in an MXR-sized box. What more could you want?
Oh yeah, the jacks being the right way round...
There is no reason for this pedal not to get a 10 on sound. Except perhaps the very slight vol boost when engaged (which most choruses seem to do anyway).
Nope, still a 10.

Reliability : 10
Very sturdy, no worries here.

This pedal has been out of production for years (why???) but EBS are a quality company so I imagine they would take care of it.

Overall Rating : 9
VERY hard to find (and relatively expensive when you do find one - I guess down to scarcity and the fact it was very expensive when first released), but really this is an amazing sounding pedal so well worth the cash and the effort to get hold of one.
If you are serious about your chorus, then you need to check one out. I am so glad I managed to get hold of one - it ain't going nowhere!
I only give a 10 overall for a 'perfect' pedal which this is not (mainly due to its high price and the jack positioning), but it certainly deserves a 9+.

This unit has two knobs: Depth and Rate, and a toggle switch: Flange, Hvy, and Soft. It's fairly easy to dial in a good sound because of the minimalist approach with the amount of knobs, and at the same time is very versatile with the three different settings. The LED light which lights when the unit is engaged, pulsates to the rate, making it much easier to set a rate with the visual cue that it provides. You can use either a 9V power supply or a battery so power will never be an issue with your setup. I did not get a manual with this unit even though it was bought new. I don't think they make this unit anymore, so I am assuming that the unit was sitting in the store for a while, and the manual may have been lost, unless it never ever was shipped with one. But the unit itself is simple enough that a manual was not needed. The input jack of the pedal is on the left side of the unit and the output jacks are on the right side of the unit, which if very unorthadox, but really isn't a problem, especially if you are using George L. cables and can just adjust the length of the cable appropriately.

For testing purposes I used a Les Paul copy, with a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup in the neck position going into the Red Twister and an Aphex Guitar Exciter into a THD Bivalve with a 12" Bogner Cube. The Red Twister is very very clean. There was absolutely no added noise with the effect engaged. I had it on the Heavy setting with the depth at 9 o'clock and the rate set at about 8-9 o'clock. The chorus sound is very tight. The highs are clean and clear, but never harsh. It doesn't make your sound sparkly, but makes it sound thick. In the Heavy setting, it does thicken the high and low end, giving it a slight boost in volume. It was not as drastic as the volume boost that the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus gives, and it seemed more like a byproduct of the thickening in sound vs. a volume boost. In the Soft setting, this low end thickening/boost is less apparent. The Red Twister is cleaner than the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus; has the warmth of the EH Clone Chorus with a clearer high end; is much warmer than the TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger; has a tighter effect (not so spaced out) than the Maxon 505 Chorus; and has a thicker effect than the Choralflange. The sound quality as far as how it sounds is very good. It's really up to you whether this is the type of chorus sound you are going after.

Seems to be built very solid. Only time will tell.

Overall, this is a great pedal. If it was lost or stolen, I would definitely pick another up if I could find one, since I do believe this pedal is no longer in production. I did compare it to the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus, EBS Unichorus, Maxon 505, TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger, EH Small Clone, H2O Liquid, and Fulltone Choralflange. I chose the Red Twister over the others because of the reasons stated above. The sound quality is superb; very clean, and very quiet as it should be. I would love to hear this pedal in its stereo mode, as I do think that all choruses really shine when they are in stereo.
Pros: Excellent sound quality, small casing(mxr sized box), stereo, simple controls(though some may want more control), versatile with three different modes(flange, heavy, soft).
Cons: No delay time or effect level(blend) control for those that need complete control of all parameters(though the presets are really good and usable), jack placement may be irritating to some.

Very easy to use. There is a Depth knob, Speed Knob and a three way switch (Heavy, Soft and Flanger Mode). Almost every position of the knobs and switch will produce a sound that is usable. I personally use a subtle setting (Soft Mode with Depth at 9 O'Clock and Speed at 12 O'Clock).

The sound quality is amazing. I've owned a Boss CE-2, Boss CE-5, EH Small Clone and an Analog Man Clone Chorus (early non-painted model). The sound quality of the Red Twister is the best. It is by far the most quiet of the before mentioned pedals and that makes a big difference since Chorus is often used as a subtle or more quiet effect. Also, the versatility is pretty amazing. It outshines the Clone Chorus models in that area. The Boss CE-5 is more versatile, but was louder and not True Bypass like the Red Twister. The Red Twister also has an LED that pulses to the speed so you can visually see what the speed is. It's pretty useful live if you adjust your chorus speed to match the tempo of the song.

the Flanger Mode is something I've not really messed with yet, but it's nice to know that when/if I need a Flanger I don't need to run out and buy one.

An added bonus...the Red Twister appears to up my volume a slight bit when it's on. Most chorus pedals do the opposite which can be fustrating since, again, it's a subtle effect to begin with.

I like that the Red Twister offers so much yet is the size of an MXR pedal!

From everything I've read and heard...EBS pedals are simply the finest made pedals available. The quality is top of the line.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've not had to deal with their customer support. They are an overseas company, but I would imagine that they are very supportive of their products and will remedy any problem you might have.

Overall Rating : 9
I was hesitant to buy this pedal just because, quite frankly, a used Boss CE-2 sounds damn good and costs around $50. Also, I'm not a big Chorus user. However, I've very glad I bought this unit. It is True Bypass which helps clean up my effects chain and it's very quite when it's in use.

I spent some extra money, but I'm also not looking for a Chorus pedal anymore. :) The Red Twister has everything I want in a Chorus pedal and more.

Red Twister replaced my TC SCF. TC's great but the AC cord.... SOunds almost like the TC but greater definition, clarity and my drummer says sounded like Clapton on Wonderful Tonight, Holy Mother etc....

Blues, Rock, a little Fusion. However would like to see a more conventional approach to input & output jack placement. That is why I have to arrange my pedals described earlier.

This Is a very eas to use pedal set up as a no brainer. Depth ,Speed, 3 Way selector

This is one of the best chorus/flanger effects on the market today. It has wide range of sounds and is a very versatile pedal. It works great with distortion. It is all analog and has three modes Flange, soft and heavy chorus.I passed up a choraflange for this....i thought it was much warmer and had a better effect..plus it is the size of an mxr pedal..and you find great sounds instantly

Simple stomp box with three controls. Can't get much easier that that.

Nice! I use it in the effects loop of my Boogie Studio Caliber in front of a Line 6 Delay Modeler. It's not as sparkly as a TC.. it's rich and warm. It's quiet too.

A good solid cover, good pots. I have not had it long.

I play a wide variety of music... I'm trying to ween myself from a Kork A-3, going back to stomps. The Red Twister seems to have the better overall quality than others. It's a finely made swedish instrument. Better that US. When you get a new US made piece and you know they've been cranking them out because there are little flaws. This EBS piece seems to have better quality. There is more attention paid to the quality.

2 knobs (depth and speed) and a 3 way mini toggle make it a snap to use. The only twist is that the input and output jacks are reverse of what you would expect (the input is on the left side of the pedal, output on the right). Stereo outs.

Sound Quality : 10
True bypass with no noise when engaged. Very rich and lush effect. The flange sounds great, the uni-vibe/leslie sounds are really nice as well. The chorus sounds good, but is deinately the weakest of the 3. That is not to say it isn't good, it's just the weakest. I play through a Matchless Chieftain 212 and a Dr Z Maz Jr 18 210, and it sounds great through both. It loves gain. I replaced my Fulltone Choral/Flange, so that should give you a good idea of the quality of the unit.

It appears to be very sturdy. Both the box and the switch seem heavy duty.

I play mostly rock and blues. This pedal is really versatile. It gets a great flange and uni-vibe/leslie sound, and the chorus is really nice as well. It's small (size of an MXR box), and easy to use. What more could you want.
