Great sounds right out of the box (if you turn all the knobs all the way up like me to start!) Seriously though, there are alot of funky sounds given to start with in the 2-page manual. Very easy to use, and still alot of room to play around in and get lost for hours.
Has knobs for sensitivity, width(Q), and attack. There is also an up/down switch to select which way the envelope will go. Pretty simple.

Im running my PRS McCarty into the EMMA and then into my Mesa Boogie Mark III. This thing sounds great! I used to have a Moogerfooger Low-pass filter, and the discumBOBulator brings that sound to mind. Very fat and analog filtering, responding on spot to every naunce. Chords sound great too, and this pedal is the perfect compliment to the funkiest playing. It nails the parliment sound, as well as it channels Jerry Garcia out through the amp. I like the "UP" setting personally, great auto-wah sound that certainly beats any digital processor. Its also super quiet. I really love the sound of this pedal!!! :)

Seems very reliable... however mine doesnt have a serial number on it... and there was also about 2 weeks between the time I purhased the pedal and the time I recieved it... so I hope I can still get a warranty on it! (I just got the pedal about a week ago). Hopefully I wont need to rely on a warranty. This pedal seems pretty solid though, and I will definetly be playing out without a backup. It gets an 8/10 because of my warranty issue, even though thats not the pedals fault!

Considering EMMA Electronic doesn't have a website, and the one website the manual lists is in Dutch, the customer support seems pretty non-existent so far. Godlyke distributes these pedals however, and also provides the warranty, so possibly they make up for the lack of actual company customer support. Considering they are handmade, you'd think the maker would back up his pedals... It all very confusing...

I really like this pedal, and recommend it to anyone looking for that mutron/moog sound, without taking up your whole pedal board. Its kinda like they took that sound and squished it into a smaller box. It nails that genuine envelope sound, along with bringing in some new cards to the table. It is really a unique peice of auto-wah! $170 is a small price to pay for this handmade pedal boasting such great sound. Its won me over!!!

Very intuitive and flexible. Can quickly move from *Radiohead ambient* to *70's Porn Soundtrack*. The up/down switch is the secret weapon. Works well with both single-coil and humbuckers. The sample settings included with mine are a great place to start, but by no means the only useful settings.

I really love the sound of this thing. Sounds great with all my guitars. Very vocal and expressive. Responds well to guitar volume knob and variations in picking technique ( especially hybrid fingerstyle ). Behaves well with my other pedals, and works well in various points in the signal chain (i.e. pre/post distortion, etc. ). I am not an Orthodox Bypass Fetishist, so I can't say what exact denomination of bypass this pedal is. Works well in my setup of standard stompboxes (Dyna-Comp, Wah, Phase shifter, TS9, RAT2, Tremelo, Chorus, Analog Delay, etc.) into tube amp (Rivera Quiana).

Hmm, Let's hope this stands the test of time. Not so sure about the stompswitch and board mounted jacks. I will depend on it it without backup. I would just have to struggle on without my auto-wah thingy! Not exactly something that would derail a gig. Overall construction quality seems pretty good.

Hasn't come up. Let's hope it stays that way. This pedal is no longer in production. I'd like to see if I can get a schematic though.

I play a wide variety of styles and the Discumbobulator is a great match for any that require an envelope filter. I have been playing since the mid 70's and have been a long time fan of auto-wah effects. This may be the best match between size, price, flexibilty, sound and ease of use. Not sure what the price and availability will be now that these are no longer in production, but surely competes or beats anything in the $200 and under category.

This pedal is really great!! It works like most other auto wah pedals exept that it's really easy to use. The are 3 knobs and a switch controlling (L to R): Sensitivity, With and Attack. Even with no other effects this one sounds great (it find it to be much "warmer" than the Electro Harmonix Q-Tron and much easier to control). Even if you want to create "special effects", other than the normal envelope controlles wah sound, this pedal makes it possible very easy. I've made some beautifull "ambient" sounds combined with a distortion and a delay and perhaps and tremmolo (dist-trem-wah-dly). I've also used to change and boost a distorded lead type of sound. It can be made to alter the tone with a setting that only causes the filter to oppen a little. You can create some very carracteristic sounds.

I've used the pedal in a setup like this: fender jazzmaster - boss ds1 distortion - boss tr2 tremmolo - EMMA electronic discumBOBulator aoto wah - boss dd3 delay - Laney lh50 amp.
The pedal is indeed very silent. I've no problems at all and the effect were allways really really great even at low settings. I've been using for "ambient" kind of sounds ala Sonic Youth but allso very distict lead tones ala Phill Manzanera (Roxy Music). So I have'nt been using it much as a "regular" auto wah, were the filter is set to open at every sounding tone or cord (exept when I wanted to anoy my fellow band members by playing some funky riffs, where it even sounded better and "warmer" (ie more "friendly") than for instans the EH Q-tron)

I thoght I had a problem with not switching on properly when swithced on untill i found out it was because the power cord didn't fit properly. But the manufacturer (they're hand made in denmark at my local music store) told me they've had minor problems with the on/off switch. But I haven't had any problems. I would count on it 100%!!

As i mentioned above, the pedal is handmade at my local music store. And when I confrontet them with the above mentioned problem, I thought I had, they offered to replace the switch instantly. And they are allways help and friendly. See this link for info: http://www.orkestergraven.dk/viewproduct.php?ProductgroupID=55&ID=82

The only thing i missed in this pedal was the feature that other auto wah pedals, like the boss-auto-wah-thing and the EH "the worm", include. I'm not shure what it is called. Its not an envelope controlled effect, it's more like an LFO or temmolo opening and closing the filter at a certain rate (that makes it go wahwahwahwahwahwahwah untill you switch it of, sort of like on Sonic Youth's The Diamond Sea). But the overall greatness of this pedal quickly made me forget about that...

I had never used an auto-wah/ filter before, and this was easy. I had a sound in my head and it matches it very well. The up and down switch make this on a keeper over ALL I tried.

It sounds great. I find it very usable with my set-up. It is not noisy.
I am using it in stereo with a '68 Deluxe Reverb and a PV classic 50 4x10. It loves buckers and sc's. I prefer the single coils with it though. YOU MUST TRY THIS WITH AN OCTAVE DOWN EFFECT! I use this in conjuction with my EH octave multiplexer and I am a funky man. It sounds good

Here is the rub. Crappy switch. If you buy it, plan on replacing it. Get one of the HC effect forumites to fix it for around $20 (oranjip is good). It works well with a good clean switch

I would buy it again. The orange LED, and body look cool too. I really like this pedal a lot. It was better than the Menatone mailbomb by far and the Guyatone Funky Box...which sucked. I find this pedal to be the most inspiring pedal I have ever bought.

The Discumbobulator is an envelope filter. What amazed me about this effect was how much easier is was to get great sounds as compared to the other envelope filters I own. It has 4 controls sensitivity,up/down switch, width, and attack. The manual describes the controls and there are some sample settings to get you started. The conrols are interactive and you get many variations of sound. the key to using an effect like this is to experiment as much as possible, but EMMA has made it easy to get quick satisfaction. It is 3.5" by 5" and doesn't take up much real estate on a pedal board.

There are quite a few envelope/auto wahs on the market and all have there unique sound. I have a vintage Mutron III, An early Mutron III+ reissue,DOD FX25B and a Russian issue Bassballs. The EMMA is not as "wet" as the vintage Mutron, but I would rate it a close second for sound. I find the Mutron nicer for fingerstyle, but I prefer the EMMA for Slap Bass. I use Fender P/J Basses and a Warwick Thumb Bass and it works great with both passive and active electronics. It also works great with my other pedals EBS Compressor and Fulltone Bassdrive. I find the Mutron doesn't work as well with these other pedals probably because it has a preamp that is always active.

EMMA is made in Denmark and has excellent construction. I've had mine 3 months and have used it on numerous live gigs and in the studio. No problems. I don't need a backup. The only concern I have is the mini toggle switch used for the up/down control.

EMMA doesn't have a website. I purchased mine at Eiderly Music, Michigan. There prices and selection are good but there service is questionable. Example When I ordered the pedal I asked them to make sure the original box and manual be sent. They have sent me broken and forgot boxes/manuals before. Guess what they did it again! They did send out the original box and manual after I RE contacted them. Why can't they get it right the first time?

The Discumbobulator is an excellent pedal. If you love funky tones give it a try. I feel this pedal is already a classic!
