This is very easy to use out of the box but also has excellent software developed to use via USB so you can tweak and save as many patches as you wish. It really has a depth of application as you can use it from your computer recording software as an digital outboard effects rack. It has the big names studio mic modelling, guitar amp modelling with speaker types, compression ( with presets for vocals, kick, snare, kit. acoustic guitar etc., de-sser for vocals, noise gate, EQ reverbs, echoes, phasing, flanger, chorus and much more.
While it isn't the easiest to use live, you could run it from a laptop successfully or just use the various patches and switch by hand.
If you want to record, this is a such a handy device as it covers vocals as well as drum kits, acoustic guitar (in fact any instrument you need to record). Fantastic to use with a laptop on the road.

Excellent sound. I record with an Akai DPS24 as well as with RME PC cards so I expect high quality results. This can actually give you very decent sounds for recording as well as standbye pedal for practices or gigs where you are only using a set number of patches

Being Roland it is quality through and through. Very rugged aluminium case. Has every conceivable input/output including digital lightpipe, USB, analog rca and phono stereo pairs as well as SPDIF coax. Also has two channels of canon balanced lines with fantom power. All very useful and all very reliable!

I use it for blues, pop, rock, metal, jazz. etc and there is a setting for every need.
I have been playing for over 33 years and have Fender and Gibson guitars as well as Fender, Peavey and old Marshall classics for amps.
If this was lost I would really miss it as it is a Swiss Army knife for simple and fast recording projects as well as just playing through.
Favorite features are all the I/O options, the reverb and chorus are great as well as the amp modeling. It would be great if it had simple remote foot operation but I guess they wouldn't sell the Boss range then!
It is a real tool for creative music making.
One of my favorite pieces of kit. Would have to replace it if I lost it.

This unit is a computer recording interface desighned for guitar players with small home studios. It has all the basics for a guitarist to record songs with very little fuss. Features include a dedicated instrument level input,{no DI needed)that has Amp/speaker models, efx,Global noise gate, chorus and reverb. For mics it has two xlr/trscombo inputs w/phantom power/pads. mic modeling compresor/de-esser. Everything is easy to edit with microscopic detail with the use of the editing software I espeasialy love the tweakabilit of the amp models. The manual is fine. Editing the sound is also posible via the 26 knobs on the panel but in less detail.

I use this unit in my teaching studio. I have diferent patches for diferent guitars and run it into my little m-audio dx-4 reference monitors. it sounds awsome though the speakers and recorded. I still prefer a sm57 infront of my tube amp for the best tone but for simplicity to catch insparation the plugin and go setup is phenomenal. My magor critisism with this devise is its compete uselessness in a live situation. The is no midi implementation exept for patch changes and even then there is an audible gap between patches. the sample rate is a very nice 24/48 although edirol advetised 24/96 that is only usable for playback or recording not both.

edirol is the same as roland and boss. made in japan well constructed and glitch free. I would expect nothing less.

If this unit meets your needs it is an absolute 10. I plan on selling it before too long and replace it with a audio card with more input channels. this unit records and outputs 2 chanels which is great for most recording situations but very frustrating for tracking things like a drum kit. The amp models sound superb and i really do miss the live aplication features.

This unit is very easy to use. Compatability with some DAW's is a factor though. It is programable by an editor program that gives many tweeks espeacially for the guitar amp modeling. The manual is good.

The mic pre amps lack headroom. the amp simulator doesnt simulat bass guitar sounds no matter how much you tweek. it is very quiet and all the sound are great. the amp modelling is phenomenal. better than my boss gt-6. it is in my teaching studio and hooked up to a sterio it sounds great.

I can depend on this unit. its a japanesse roland and that meens exelent quality in duability. i dont play with this unit live because the midi control over it is nearly non existent. i can change between the 6 memory setups and thats all.

The guitar sounds are my favorite. i have been pro for 5 years. There is nothing like this unit on the market today. I wish it had extensive midi implementation so i could use it live. I also would like to see the gt-6 or gt-7 have a n editor program like the one this unit has.
