Ease of Use : 7
First off, this pedal doesn't make any sounds on it's own, the key to this pedal is using a single or combination of pedals in the pedal?s built in effects loop and controlling the sounds through this one pedal. This pedal basically makes any pedal (that?s in the pedal?s effects loop) feedback into itself and can make a wide variety of sounds / noises.

The pedal has 2 inputs and outputs (one for a direct link from the guitar to the amp and the other for the effects loop), two knobs (Amplitude and Eye Of God) and two switches ("God" and "Eye"). The two switches have an on / off function that with using the two knobs controls the pedal?s effects loop.

Any pedals that are plugged through the loop will not work unless the pedal is on (and if you want the "loop" pedals original sounds, make sure the 2 switches are in the off position. If one or both switches are on, the "loop" pedals sounds will change ? the sounds depend on the order you run the pedals as well as the combination of knob turning, etc.).

The "eye" switch controls a photo-sensitive "theremin" eye (that's built into the pedal close to the foot switch). To change the "loop" pedal sounds you can move your foot or hand over the eye. On some pedals (that are in the loop), the guitar volume knob will affect the sounds as well as the overall volume level.

When the ?God? switch is on (but the ?eye? switch is off) you can set the knobs for the effect sound you want and just let the pedal cycle the feedback loop while playing the guitar (some effects the guitar?s volume knob will affect the sound).

This pedal is definitely one that you WILL have to experiment with ...

Sound Quality : 9
The sound quality is great when the switches are in the off position and the pedal is on / off (no tone change). When one or more switch is on (including any pedals in the effects loop) the pedal does affect the tone (but that?s because it?s supposed to, because you?ve got pedals on, etc.). There is one small detail that some people won't like about the pedal is, on some pedals (it depends on which brand / effect type / pedal order and what adjustments you have on the EOG pedal) there will be a volume drop (but this only happened to me once), you will just have to experiment.

Now this pedal can make all sorts of sounds ? some useful and some not so useful (to a point). Some sounds I was able to get out of this pedal, include ?whale? sounds (chorus pedal); speed control delay/ feedback (delay pedal); sub-octave ?extra? notes (Big Muff and an Effector 13 Tri-Fuzz); ?R2-D2? sounds/ tape delay/ bird chirping sounds (Danelectro Psycho Flanger) ... and more sounds. This pedal along with other pedals (and your imagination), you can come up with all sorts of sounds ... the key is to experiment.

The pedal can also work with other various instruments, like keyboards, bass guitar, lap steel, etc.

Reliability : 10
I can trust this pedal. I have one of Tim?s earlier pedals (the Silicon Transistor Tri-Fuzz) and looking on the inside from that pedal to this pedal show that Tim has come along way with pedal building. This pedal look extremely well built with very clean workmanship on the wiring, etc. The paint job and label also is very professional looking.

Also the pedal has an AC adapter plug on the side so you don?t have to worry about power failure, etc.

Customer Support : 10
Tim is great. He?ll help you out with questions you have about the pedals and also the Effector 13 website (www.effector13.com) is great. The website has info on the pedals along with sounds clips and photos, etc.

Overall Rating : 10
I?d have to say this pedal is really cool ? a little odd / weird kind of cool, but still pretty neat.

With this pedal you can still have regular sounds coming from your instrument and then with a flip of a switch the sound completely changes to something different (depending again on how you have your individual pedals / knobs set at).

At the rate Effector 13 is going (in my opinion) I would say they could be the next Electro-Harmonix or Roger Mayer. My reason behind that statement is because the pedals Effector 13 are putting out are different from anyone else I?ve heard from ... Tim has a great imagination when it comes to getting unique sounds out of instruments.
