Like most tube amps, the devil's in the details. Only 3 knobs and a switch, but a lot of possibilities. Beware of the chirp!!!

Home Rig:
Prs Custom 24/Zvex Machine/Zvex Fuzz/Phase-o-matic/Soldano SP-77/Custom 2 watt EL84 power amp/Custom Tube 10 Mahogany cab with beam blocker. This is the home rig I've been building for a while. Maxed out at 2 watts, it's about as loud as you can scream.
I'm not a big fan of effects, but this is a definite keeper. Huge, bright, sparkly sound, you can get some amazing wah type sounds by timing your playing with the speed of the LFO. I'm still playing with the different wave shapes, but it's been amazing so far. I found myself turning the blend knob all the way down and just using it as a slight boost, it just makes everything bigger and rounder. The LFO mode is fun, but you gotta watch out for the chirping sounds this thing will make at an incorrect setting. If the speed is slow, the chirps are delayed and can really catch you off guard. That's my only issue with it.
This is by far the best phaser I've ever used, makes boss pedals seem like toys. The frequency range is huge, and the overtones really musical and apparent. This one stays.

You get what you pay for. It's always amazing to me when the bands that perform with us always have nice amps and nice guitars, and right between them they put some crap Digitech or Line6 proceessor, which kills everything. Every piece counts. This effect improves the way your guitar sounds through your amp, and has top quality sound when engaged.

I love this pedal.
It is easy to use, the large dials and lettering make it easy to read from a distance. The manual is straight forward, easy reading.

This has to be the best vibe on the market. It sounds so warm and natural much better than the univibe. In my opinion it also out classes Fulltone and I am a Hugh Fulltone fanatic.
Other pedals sound like Hendrix and Trower but this pedal blows them all away. I have done days of Internet site searches for sound clips of this pedal before I bought it and let me tell you the clips do not due this pedal justice.

I started playing guitar when I was 13 back in the 70's. Like many of you out there I was in a band during my high school years. Now I play in my "Library" aka spare bedroom along with my stereo to my favorite what I call classi rock bands like, Hendrix, Trower, Rush, Sabbath, Zep, Montrose, Van Halen, Scorps, UFO to name a few.
My Gear consists of a Crate vintage club 30. Guitars Strat, Les Paul, ES335, SG, ESP. Pedals Fulltone Tube Tape Echo, OCD, Full Drive 2, and a Dunlop Cry Baby
What more do you need.
If my tube-vibe was lost or stolen I would by another one in a heart beat.

First up, this is no ordinary effects pedal. It's big - 8.5" x 5.5", heavy duty aluminium case, perforated at one side to vent the three tubes within, sprayed powder blue, with four rubber feet, 3 chicken-head knob controls - Blend, Speed, Width, plus power lamp, footswitch, mains kettle-type connecter, on/off switch, and input/ouput sockets.
The manual is a clear 8 pages, printed on card, with explanation of controls, suggested settings, and spec. This is worth reading well, so you know exactly what the controls do, the fact that a warmup time (>1min) prolongs tube life, and the suggested settings are a useful starting point to achieving the sounds you want.
As mentioned earlier, and in previous reviews, the lamp indicates power on/off and not the status of the footswitch, which could be a drawback in a live situation. For this reason I give it 9, however on the plus side, the large chicken-head knobs allow you to change settings very quickly and accurately, and turning the "Blend" control to zero effectively bypasses the effect.

I only play at home and have been using the Phase-O-Matic with various electric guitars thru either a 20W SS - Award-Session Rockette, or 5W Tube - Ibanez Valbee. This pedal provides a buffered output in either direct, or bypassed mode, so that the overall sound is enhanced in both the SS and tube, even when bypassed.
In direct mode the range of effect is great, giving you every shade of phasing possible, from the gentlest vibrato for warm soft chords, to whooshing backdrops, or pyschedelic slightly out of tune chorus.
If that was it this would be a great pedal - but there's more, and that is the effect it has on other pedals in the chain. It seems to emphasise the other processors, so that settings don't have to be so severe, and subtle changes are easily heard.
I rated this pedal 9/10 in the "Ease of Use" because of the lack of a footswitch status light, but to be honest I haven't switched it off since I started using it.

I've only had his pedal for a couple of weeks, but it has been on for most of the day and evening during this time, with no problems.
I don't gig, but if I did I wouldn't be worried about fragility- this pedal is built like a tank. There are three tubes in his device, but they are signal devices, so longevity shouldn't be a problem

I'm a hobby player who likes to get as full a sound as possible, so I've surrounded myself with effects to achieve this. I was missing a phaser and having been scammed (not on Ebay) on an Ibanez PH-7, I looked around for an alternative and found this one. The scammer did me a big favour, as I can honestly say this is the most effective pedal I've ever used. If you like 60s/70s rock, this pedal will make the difference between an approximation, and absolutely nailing a particular sound e.g. giving that extra jangle for a Beatles or Byrds song, or the Leslie sound on a 12 string (Hotel California), or the wavering tone on the Stone's "Mother's Little Helper"
If you want a simple phaser there's plenty of good cheaper models around, but if you want a complete, studio quality sound processor, at the cost of a couple of ordinary pedals, this is the job.

Straightforward frontpanel layout maskes this pedal easy to use -didn't need to bother with instruction manual supplied. Three knobs on the front panel for width, speed and blend, a little like a kitchen appliance!. Blend mixes the dry and phased signals. It was impossible to get a bad sound out of the phaseomatic and was even useable with the speed set high for those corny 'bubbly', underwater effects. All the phasers I've tried and used over the years always took something out (tone sucking). I found, if anything, the phaseomatic enhanced the tonal character which is a new experience for me with stompboxes - and an enormous plus.

The sound quality of this pedal is just out of this world! It's in a differnt league, more like a piece of vintage studio gear or audiophile equipment. No loss of high and bottom end like other phasers (and that includes some of the more recent boutique models out there; you know who you are). It's natural & transparent and I've no issues with amp. and guitar tone cutting through. The sweep range is huge allowing dreamy phasing effects - I miked up a friends acoustic and let the phaseomatic do it's stuff, beautiful. My present set-up is based on a Soldano SP-77 preamp thro a stereo Bryton 38 power amp into two custom 2 x 12 closed back cabinents. I'm using a Contempory Fender strat with Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position. Effects-wise the SP-77 outputs to the phaseomatic -> Watkins Copycat tape echo Co 1 x Peavey Valverbs. I also split the signal at the output of the phaseomatic and run that to the left channel of the Byrston. The sound is huge! Oh yes, one niggle I have is that the power LED remians lit when the unit is bypassed. It would have been better if the LED pulsated with the sweep. The graphics and styling on this pedal are cool though; it's looks like it just came back from 1955!

I play progressive rock mainly influenced by Gilmour, Moore and a little Hendrix. This pedal is now an integral part of my rig, which is something I never thought I'd say about a phaser. If it were stolen or lost, I'd go into shock for couple of days and then order a replacement. The only reason I'm not using a wah is because it completely screws up my tone. If only effectrode could bring out a tube-wah. . .

Finally after years of searching for the perfect Phaser for my Bass setup along comes the Phase-O-Matic!!!.Purely by accident I stumbled across this company on the net.The Phase-O-Matic is a Tube Phaser (contains 3 in fact)and is made in England. It produces Awesome Phasing,Chorusing and Vibrato effects with ease!!!It's housed in cool retro light blue powdercoated box with old style vitage knobs and labelling (looks like it came out of the early sixties!!!)You can see the tubes glow through the vents in the pedal(A Unique Effect).I used a G&L2000(active),YamahaTRB5(active),Fender75Precision(passive)and a Warwick Alien Electro-Acoustic 4string Bass through a Carvin R1000 head with 8x10 cabs and an Ampeg 100watt Combo unit 1x15.My Set-up is, BASS >>BOSS Rc20 Phrase sampler >ZOOM 506II >FULLTONE Bass Drive >D.A.M Ezekiel 25:17 Bass Distortion pedal >CROWTHER AUDIO Prunes&Custard >BLACKBOX Quicksilver Delay pedal >BOSS Bf-3 Flanger >EFFECTRODE Phase-O-Matic Tube phaser >CHUNK SYSTEMS Agent 00Funk Envelope filter >LOVETONE Ring Stinger ring modulator >MOOG MuRF Resonant filter pedal >DUNLOP 105Q Bass wah pedal >DEATH BY AUDIO Total sonic annihilation pedal >>AMPLIFIER.Even with this setup with this many pedals the Phase-O-Matic shines through. This pedal is low noise and produces a LUSH ORGANIC Phased effect at any volume.I have used several other phasers but they did'nt quite cut it(took a lot of bottom end) (i,e: EH SmallStone,BOSS phaser,STUDIO ELECTRONICS phaser)Even with the 5 string bass the phaser cut through ,and an overdriven fuzz added gave it character.

I play in a couple af bands and cover many styles Funk,Rock,Grunge,Metal,Punk,Progressive,Etc.I have been playing for 20 years. This pedal is an asset for any Bass/Guitar player looking for a cool sounding/looking phaser/vibrato effect.I Suggested to Phil that he should consider making a 110volt60hz model for mine is a 240volt50hz model. Also the l.e.d. would be better if it came on with the footswitch(effect on) rather than power onto effect.Phil has taken these suggestions onboard already.
