Is any overdrive pedal hard to use? The only reason I didn't give a 10 is that the clipping switch and the fat boost aren't labeled so if someone were to walk up to the pedal, they'd have to figure it out.

Sound Quality : 10
Everything said previously is true. This pedal has great standard TS sounds but the "Dumble clipping" brings it to a new level, harmonically rich and nicely compressed without burying your guitar and amps natural tone. 2x the gain of a regular TS means a lot more flexibility. Try to find a bad sound. It ain't easy. Even with the tone wide open through a Fender Twin, it stays musical and glassy, never harsh.

looks good, time will tell

Dave is great. It's build to order so you get exactly what you want. Great communication and he let me make last minute changes. This the kind of support you can only get from a mom and pop shop. It's just dave and he's very informative and responsive.

Overall Rating : 10
For the money you really can't beat it. It knocked a 200 dollar Tonebone off of my board and has regulated my old Tube Screamer to a clean boost. The Overdrive is as rich and harmonically complex as you could hope for. Roll of your volume and there's your guitar just as it should be. All this with custom colors and options for a little over 100 bucks. Totally worth every penny.

Ease of Use : 3
I have the SRB808 version 3. It's not that hard to use but all the controls are unmarked.

Sound Quality : 1
The thing is when you use this pedal it's pretty noisy. I thought it was just typical of overdrives but I have other overdrives which are not noisy like this one is. Also the noise isn't in the frequency spectrum that the guitar is in. What I mean is the pedal has a lot of hiss.

I have the SRB808+ III high gain version ,so it's a satck pedal easy to use when you know what can do each switch selectors.
That's so simple to have THE sound you are looking for...just plug it and play! Simply awesome!!!whatever you do with the siwtchs (1 for fat boost or normal ; and another one for Clean boost/TS like sound/ assymetrical clipping marshall like) and controls , the sound is great.
And manual included with settings types.
My unit was made in 3 weeks ,with a special price because of the supposed unperfect finish (which i don't see , it's still very nice!!!)

Standard 9v negative center pin or battery.

Sound Quality : 10
I play Jazz ,blues , rock , fusion styles...
with PRS , Suhr , ESP , and custom guitar-projects..
plugged into a Diezel einstein head ,a CAA OD100SE head ,a bogner Duende combo , and VHT deliverance 4x12 and 2x12 cabs.

I owned many of the must-have overdives like analogman king of tone , lovepedal eternity , BJFE baby blues and dyna red disto ,BB pr??amp , Abunai II , OCD , DGTM ,Zendrive , m??natone , etc....etc... and for me this one his in the 3 bests OD i ever played!! HOnestly , it's not noisy ,each position of the switchs gives a warm sound with a lot of harmonics , sustain, and transparency (you keep the sound of your amp and Guitar!)!! You want a SRV sound ? no problem! John mayer type..no problem! Marshall leads for classic rock....so simple! i don't see what it can't do..may be metal stuff..but with precision in tweaking ,it may do it well!

If you are looking for the bests , keep an eye on it!

Reliability : 10
I used a lot of boutique stompboxes from many of the best makers in the world , and i can tell that this one is one of my favourites , so i keep it in my Gig. I am SRB-Addicted now!!
It could also be the only one i use for small sets .

Customer Support : 10
Well , that was a pleasure to deal with this guy! Fast answers!! And clearly , his intention is to help guitar player to have the sound he is looking for. Very kind and helpfull in mailling communications.
It couldn't be better!

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since 14 years , searching only the bests gears for my tastes.(and i have founded ;-) )
This is an important step for me , very glad to use this pedal!!!there is such a number of pedal which cost a lot and which sound just good...this one is better , and cost twice lessthan the SRB808+!
It helps me to be creative!
If it were stollen..i'll immediatly ask (and scream...because i like it so!!) to wireman another one with custom options availables.

I wish you could play it once.

Childs play to get superb creamy tones, and I do mean Cream..y, all that is said about this peadal IS TRUE. All features are well designed, user friendly and very useful and versatile. The unit is well made and easy to power via Boss type 9v supply.

Sound Quality : 10
Unbelievable value and tone for the money, a must buy for all wise studios and pros. This is boutique quality and sound for a standard shop pedal price. These will become collectors items, makes a joke of a Pro Co Rat and they are good.

Reliability : No Opinion
Not fair to give a comment, I`ll let you know in 10 years, certainly looks like a quality metal build with bullet proof components.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent, this pedal is designed by a guitar player who is proud of his work. That really comes through.

Overall Rating : 10
Don`t waste money on the big names, this IS the distortion pedal to own and at a price that most can afford! Been playing too long and have wasted far to much cash on crap, so buy this one and don`t bother spending again. Superb tones and versatilty all through!

Of course it's easy to use! Standard Tube Screamer type controls consisting of Level, Tone, and Drive. The magic of this pedal is the addition of a three way clipping switch and a fat boost switch.

Sound Quality : 10
The SRB808+3B sounds great!! I received it today and grabbed the first guitar and amp I had handy(strat with humbucker and Fender Pro Jr) and I immediatley loved the smooth, creamy distortion I was getting! It sounded more open and natural than any other tube screamer type pedal I've used.

The three way clipping selector lets you choose between asymmetrical clipping which sounds more like a marshall amp, no clipping(center position) which just gives you the pure gain of the pedal, and symmetrical clipping via LED's which is more compressed and more like a vintage tube screamer. The "Fat Boost" is really just a mod that allows for more low end to pass in the signal. Original Tube Screamers start rollling
off low end around 700hz so that's why they sound very pronounced in the mid-range. Off course if you want this, just turn the fat boost off:-)

My favorite setting is asymmetrical clipping with the fat boost on.

Another feature worth mentioning is that this pedal has "true bypass" switching so as to not affect your tone when the distortion is not engaged.

Reliability : 10
I just got the pedal but I have to say after inspecting it, I can't imagine having any problems with it. It is in a sturdy enclosure and the soldering/wiring work is top notch! It also looks like the components are all good quality as well. Much better than what you get with a mass produced pedal.

Customer Support : 10
Dave was very helpful and available to answer all my questions about the pedal. I think he is a person who takes pride in what he does and wants people to enjoy his products!

Overall Rating : 10
You are not going to find a better deal on a "boutique" Tube Screamer type pedal that features selectable mods!!!!
I have owned an AnalogMan modded TS9 and a Jekyl and Hyde pedal and I definitely prefer the SRB808+3B! As far as I'm concerned, I have the "Tube Screamer" territory covered!!
I was lucky enough to get mine the week before Dave raised his prices. His new price is still very very fair. You will have to be patient as his shipping lead times are 2 to 3 months. Don't worry though, you will get your pedal and be very happy when you do!

Very easy to use, Level, Tone, and Gain controls along with a 3-way toggle switch for choices of clipping and a 2-way toggle for Fat Boost or cut. Dave includes a page of sample settings to get you started and to explain the functionality of the switches.

I've gone through about a dozen overdrive and distortion pedals over the years, and while some were very good, I've only had one other pedal that I wouldn't part with. That would be a ToneLab SparkleDrive that sucked when I got it, but after being modded by Keeley it is a keeper for sure! But that pedal, as good as it is, has it's own flavor, and I needed something to solo with and would be versatile with all my guitars. In the last year, I got a Pro-modded SD-1; good but not quite what I was hoping it would be. Then I got a Keeley modded DS-1,(while I was waiting for delivery of this SRB808 Plus III) thinking that would be the answer, but I was wrong again.

Finally, this pedal arrived. Is it the "perfect pedal"? I can't say that. Most guitarists are always seeking their "perfect tone" and are never satisfied 100%. I CAN say this pedal amazes me. It is simply the best sounding overdrive I've ever owned. It doesn't matter what guitar I use, it works great with all of them. The flavor of the individual guitar is not lost either.

I have a choice of symmetrical or asymmetrical clipping. Symmetrical is what Tube Screamers and their clones use, as I understand it. Asymmetrical is a Marshall-like clipping.

It is true by-pass and quiet.

I think there is no "10" when it comes to such a subjective topic as tone and sound, yet I can't say that this pedal doesn't sound "Pristine", because it does. For that reason I will give it a "10".

Reliability : No Opinion
I've not gigged with this yet, but the thing is built like a tank, with a heavy-duty footswitch. I'm confident it will prove to be reliable. If it doesn't, I'll come back here and say so.

Customer Support : 10
Dave Wireman runs this operation out of his home. He's responded to every email and question I've ever sent him. I have no reason to believe that should a problem with the pedal arise, he would be prompt with service.

That said, be forewarned that when you order one of Dave's pedals, be prepared to wait. I was initially told that there was "approximately" a 12 week turnaround for orders. Mine was a day shy of 19 weeks from the time the auction closed on eBay to the day I got it. Knock off a few more days for my money order to get to him and it was still 18 weeks. I'm not complaining, not at all, just letting anyone reading this know that they should have patience. He has a lot of orders and to be fair, he was off a few weeks for surgery. You can't hold success against someone!

For his quickness to respond so far, I will again give him a 10.

Overall Rating : 10
My current band plays mostly classic rock, but I love blues as well. This pedal will do me well in both areas. I think it would do well for any genre requiring an overdrive.

I've been a musician since I was in high school (Class of '69) but played bass mostly until the late 80's. Then I switched to guitar and have gone through tons of equipment. Currently, I play through a Crate VC5310 with a Rio Grande loaded Strat and a PRS Santana SE and PRS SE EG. If this thing were lost or stolen I would have to get another, simple as that.

I love the fullness of the tone, yet it is transparent enough to allow the personality of each guitar shine. There is nothing I dislike about this unit so far, and I love the idea of switchable clipping.

The price has gone up since I bought mine. No surprise there.

I got this because two other guys on my guitar forum (Fenderpick.com) got one and they love theirs as well. I can only compare it to pedals I've owned over the years (Boss, Digitech, etc.) and for my musical taste this is the best sounding one yet. I may actually stop buying pedals now........ well, maybe!
