Volume and Tone... it really doesn't get any easier than this.

I play active and passive basses. The submarine works equally well with both. It doesn't change your tone, just polishes it up. It's not an effect, it's a pre-amp...and a really good one at that.

Solid as a rock, but I'm a little afraid of how tight the battery sits in there...but I love the little metal brick pedals.

Those guys are incredibly helpful. I emailed them to ask about where to place it in a signal chain with another preamp and they got back to me in less than 24 hours with actual advice, not some generic push off.

I think this gets such high ratings because only people who understand what it is would even think to buy it. I freaking love it.

Extremely easy to use. Set the gain to the volume you want and they tweak the tone knob. I find that I usually use a mild tone setting in between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock - unless I want to do something extreme. All the way down for dub or all the way up for tapping.

The pedal lives up to the hype of giving a quality recorded sound in an extremely usable format. Works equally well with active and passive basses.

Well built in the US by people that know what they're doing. You may scratch the paint, but the electronics should last forever.

This pedal will not make a crappy bass sound like a dream, but if you like your current tone you'll really like your tone with this pedal. If I could only have one pedal this would be it - and I'd have to buy an amp with a built in tuner.

I am using this preamp to run both a passive Fender and an active Musicman directly into an ART SLA 1 power amp driving an older Ampeg B1 cabinet with a 12" speaker as my band plays blues at moderate volume. I had my doubts that one tone control would work but it does- the control progressively adds highs without cutting bottom and it is easy to find a clear tone that has warm bottom but still allows you to pull a string and get a "twang" that cuts through. No need to fool with multiple controls in order to set up your sound.

How hard can it be! two knobs: volume and tone

I will go with 9, coz the output gain is not as high as I expected. I saw they fixed it with the make 2, I will contact them and try to mod mine.
Other than that I really does what it suppose to do, maybe more. I am using it with my nemesis, at the en of the chain. It sure smooths up the sound, take away all the hassles caused from other effects. Also, the tone control gives me the extra extra low that I always wanted.
I couldn't hear any background noises or hiss or humm, the device is very silent indeed.

Very few pedal builders can build at this quality. The finish and the graphs ar perfect, could fool someone that it is manufactured by a big old large factory.

The owner was very friendly, asnwered all my ridiculous questions with patience. But never had a problem, so never deal with them after the purchase

I am gonna go ahead and give 10, since it really worth every penny I spent. I would have paid $30-$40 more for this quality and sound.

like most pedals, very easy to use. two knobs: volume and tone, and the true bypass switch.

it just makes my basses sound even better, fuller. i thought it might be good for my passive ampeg see-through (which it is) but it is also great for my active les-paul and musicman basses. the volume knob can be set to match the by-passed signal, or can boost or cut. the tone knob is the true magic; left for a more bassy sound, right adds treble but with no bottom end loss. overall the thing adds a big warm sound that is hard to shut off or live without. i've tried it before a bunch of effects, but seem to like it better at the end, before my amp, giving that nice fullness to all my effects that run into it. i've been playing for 25 years, have lots of equipment, yet this thing stands out.

this box was a surprise, sure the maker raves about it...but it has surpassed my expectations, especially for the price. i play many styles, generally musicman 5, gibson basses, jerry jones 6, or ampeg dan armstrong into an ampeg svt 4 or ampeg v-4; with anything from no effects to a multitude of boxes (distortion, wah, phase, delay, octave, you get the idea) and since i got this, it is the only effect that remains on all the time. it is not a compressor (something i'm on the fence about) and seems to be more/different than any old eq or boost. if you can't tell, i think it's pretty cool
