Ease of Use

This Eventide 4000B has the cleanest and most beautiful tone I have ever ran my guitar through. I just got the manual and it is 252 pages! As the man said "if you want the ultimate ride you have to pay the ultimate price". This unit has enough power to call God on his direct line! With so much power and options I'm floored with the options. I found NOTHING on my 4000B model anywhere so here I figured I'd start a review for others to benefit and share experience with this unit.

The depth and realism I hear running my Les Paul Elegant and guitar rig through this 4000B is just intoxicating. This unit is the main proscessor for my wet guitar sounds. Studio quiet, get levels right and sound quality always improves. Running it with my Rivera Hammer 120 tube guitar rack amp and another smaller tube stereo amp. I bought this 4000B in order to create my own sounds without the horrid tone loss that I've experienced with lesser units. MPX1 Lexicon is a horrid unit for guitar. I took a gamble here and bought my Eventide with out hearing it or reading any reviews on it. Even Eventide considers this unit old. I did'nt want an old unit with fossils sitting on the outdated AD converters! To my joy this unit sounds great with my guitar and does not suck my tone dry. The last multi effects units I played with were the Lex MPX1 which stunk my tone up like 8 skunks surrounding me and spraying at high pressure. Also a TC G major was thin and a little dry. This 4000b sounds real with no digital crud stinking up my guitar tone.

I have'nt taken my 4000B out of the house since I recently bought it. Eventide offers service on older 3000 units still so the company supports there products. Apparantly the backup battery is in a $300 chip. Someone at Eventide plans on milking us long after the sale of there high end units. My Yamaha FX900 has a simple $2 battery but the company has no support and no upgraded to my knowledge. This is not a cheap budget unit. This is a well designed and professional looking made in USA rack mount multi-processor. I take 1 point off for the $300 battery/chip and you must back up all data since it will be lost.

I ordered online a new manual for my 4000B. They did not show the optional cards for my unit, upgrades or anything else. I'll have to call when I replenish my wallet from this purchase!

This unit has the power to call God on his direct line. This Eventide is a good match for any application requiring high quality sounds. I'm just so thrilled that it is guitar friendly and does not strip organic tone. Last night I was playing on a setting with just compression and my tone was so expressive and organic like I was playing an old Tweed Fender cranked. As I said I use this unit into moderate priced stereo tube amps and when turned up it gets intoxicating when compared to feeling surrounded my 8 skunks spraying me when I used Boss DD, Lex MPX1 and TCGMaj multi effects units. I'm not a snob, I still use my Yamaha FX900 because it sounds so good with my guitar. I plug straight in to my Fender Vibrolux and Marshall and use my effects through a seperate stereo tube amp and speaker setup. I know good guitar tone. I did not believe the tone could be this good with effects. I've went though to the other side with this Eventide unit and I'm never giving my 4000B up. 10+ rating on the quality of sound.
