Ease of Use : 7
The GTR4000 was fairly easy to navigate through it. It has a lot of parameters so forget about memorizing all them settings, just use the manuals. The manual is quite big and detailed more than any other music products I have used. I wish there was a tutorial to understand these parameters. Editing patches is easy.

Sound Quality : 8
First of all my opinion here is from a guitarist point of view who loves Distortion/Chorus/Delay/Reverb/Pitch shifting. I give the GTR4000 an A+ on all effects except the Distortion. The Distortion is quite pathetic actually. It seems that Eventide did a last minute job on the distortion. I tried every possible setting and input/output levels but could not get the distortion to crunch. The GTR4000 is very quiet and has very good dynamic range <1dB over 22KHz (this is a little understood but very important characteristic of ANY music instrument). My setup has the guitar going into a effects processor then goes to a 32 BAND dual Graphic EQ (works like a sonic maximizer!) then to an ADA Dual AMP that feeds 2 AMPEG 12x4's. I use various effects boxes (Digitech Pro/Korg/Zoom...). The GTR4000 needs loud input (use Effects send/Return from a processor) or a preamp of some sort. There is this one patch in the GTR4000 that holds the last note you play and man does this make you sound like a pro!

Reliability : 10
I only used it for two days and had no problems with it.

Pretty good. It seems this guy CJ answers al the GTR4000 calls.

I play Hard Rock and Flamenco/Classical music. I have been playing for about 17 years. I simultaneously bought a Digitech 2120 and compared the GTR4000 side by side and have to admit I like the 2120 a lot better and I am going to keep the 2120. At the local music shop I also played around with the Lexicon and Voodoo Valve for many days but liked the 2120 overall. THe GTR4000 can give you a lot more weird sounds but for me these sounds are not that useful because weird sounds need to be used sparingly. However if you are looking for weird sounds, then get a synthesiser instead. Basically you need to be happy with your tones and effects. Most all other effects processors can be tinkered with at your local music shop but I could not find the GTR4000 anywhere so I had to mail oreder it. I spent close to $100 for shipping/receiving out of my pocket (mail orders don't reimburse shipping costs!!!) but it was well worth the effort.

There are a lot of good presets so getting a good sound from the start is easy. There are a lot of parameters to edit but any effects unit worth its salt has a lot. Creating a preset from scatch is a different story, I tried to create a simple noise gate and I still can't get it to work.

Sound Quality : 8
The digital effects are the BEST, transparent and lush. The distortion is the WORST I have ever heard. My cheapest fuzz box sounds better than any thing it can put out. I use a PSA-1 rack unit as a preamp and the GTR4000 in the effects loop of my amp and I can get some killer sounds.

When I contacted them initially for dealers and prices I got answers back within a couple of hours. Now that I have technical questions I am still waiting for a response (5 days and counting)

Overall Rating : 8
This is a great box all in all. I tried them all before this. T.C G Force, Lexicons,... If you want clean lush effects you could go for on of these other units. I wanted an effects unit that was great and had a certain amount of "fun" factor to it. Although it is not fun to program, you can create some really off the wall stuff that other units just can't touch. Best price in the world, and I spent a long time looking is KTJ Music, Scottsdale,AZ 602-948-4720. A small store but they got a unit in my hands in two weeks with no hazzle.

Ease of Use : 7
The unit is very simple to use from the front panel controls, although the software is very deep. There are tons of pre defined 'programs' which are composed from 'modules'. You can literally create your own patches and programs from these modules, even to the point of specifying menu pages and the 'resolution' of the control functions, but this takes detailed study of the manual (which is pretty good) and lots of trial and error. I'll rate ease of use as 7, only because the thing will take months to master the seemingly limitless possibilities of the unit.
Right now, it's version 2.0 firmaware, upgrade-able for future revs.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality is up-paralelled. The harmony effects are just amazing to describe, the only effect I have'nt really found awesome is the distortion which is digital, I've only worked with analog distortion effects in the past so I need more time to critique this.

Reliability : 10
Definitely built well. The manual mentions that there are almost no internal connections, so it'll hold up well under road conditions. It's a two rack space, solid, they recommend support for the rear of unit while mounted in the rack.
I wouldn't think twice about gigging without a backup, since they cost ~3000, it would be tough to carry an extra one around.

Customer Support : 10
I talk to a guy on the net quite a bit. He's always happy to answer any questions I have, and there seems to be alot at first.

After having one, I couldn't be without it! Would buy it again. I love the harmony effects, they're basically unlimited, and add an incredible quality to any recording or live sound. There is no comparison that I've heard, you pay the price, but there ain't anything out there that sounds like this. It takes awhile to get use to, although once familar with the flexibility of this system, it's an incredible asset!

This effect is State of the Art though it is a little difficult to use it. There are ove 700 factory preset with outstanding and never heard before effect that go far beyond a simple delay and reverb or chorus. To get a good sound using preset is quite easy but it is difficult to edit your own patches. That's because the possibilites of this unit are endless. The manual is written for people that know how effects work and leaves room to experiment never seen before patches. Software version is 2.00 but Eventide will upgrade it surely in the future

Sound Quality : 10
This studio quality effect isn't noisy and it must not to be noisy. If you pay an effect so much you expect the best performance in the world. There are 130 effects modules and infinite variations. The best effect that I ever owned the best effect in 10 years to come.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know. This is a quite complicated item and I guess it is quite delicate. One of the non balanced out is mute/broken so I must use the balanced ones.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company. Their www page is never upgraded

Overall Rating : 10
This is a Dream-come-true and I would buy it again. I love that it can do whatever you want easily, you can patch a whole lot of effects in series or parallel with full bandwith I love the Virtual Pedalboard software..... it is more than I can dream. I can't compare to other effects because it is matchless. It is helpful for voice and mixdown because you can have different effects from right to left.
