This is an addendum to my recent submission, could anyone out there tell me if they have found a way to get back to the original patch settings after you have done some editing, like the "compare" button on other effects units, It is very tedious to have to take notes and then re-boot the patch that I am working on. A tip I have for noisy mains transformers. (Before attempting this job make sure your H3000 is switched of and dissconected from the mains supply). Go to your local hardware store and pick up some of those small thin rubber tap washers (1/4 in diameter) remove the lid and place them beetween the lid and the body of the H3000 where the screw holes are, if you cannot get these washers try using those little felt pads that people use to stick on the bottom of things to stop them scratching tables etc, either of these seems to do the trick, as it seems to be the lid that ressonates with the transformer. I should mention that if your unit is still under warranty or you are not confident about doing it yourself get someone qaulified to do the job for you. I mention this after reading about someone with the same problem, it is not uncomom I believe amd can be quite annoying in quiet rooms.

Very easy to use, lots of great sounds straight out of the box but also has endless editing possibilities. Editing patches can be very simple but you can go deeper with the expert mode if you want to. The manual is one of the best I have come across, very clear and to the point. My unit has not been upgraded, yet.

Sound Quality : 10
My H3000 is used for general studio duties, as wel as the main processor for my Yamaha DX7, my main keyboard. The H3000 is one of the quietest units I have used apart from the anoying mechanical hum from the mains transformer. Modulation effects are very good for a digital device, but for me the stars of the show are the reverbs, which are some of the most beutiful I have ever heard, (try programe 154, 8 second reverb), diferent to a lexicon but very inspiring. It is very easy to emulate the sounds of other artists if thats what your in to. Other favourits include the reverse shift effects, mod factory and patch factory, these last algorithms are laid out just like an analogue modular sythesiser, great fun.

Reliability : 9
I have had some reliability problems. Ocassional loss of user presets forced me to replace One of the RAM chips, it has been OK ever since. At live performances I uasualy have an ALESIS data disk in the rack loaded with all my patches just in case, although its never had to be used.

I have allways found Eventide very helpfull when needed. My RAM chip was replaced by My UK agent HHB have been great, they did the work free even though my unit was out of warranty.

The H3000 one of my favourite effects, it is completely unique. The effects algorythms are works of art, this combined with stunning audio qaulity makes the unit indispensible to me, it is a world apart from other jack of all trades multi effects boxes. The ambient experimemtal music that i am involved in makes heavy use of effects processors, especially the H3000, it has become "our" sound.

It takes a long time to finally get real good presets of your own going. The manual's an encyclopedia, and if you dont have it, then you're doomed. You're better off just editing the factory prestes. Also, it could be diffucult to set it up in a standard rig. The inputs are balanced XLR, so you'll need modified cables.

Sound Quality : 10
I've never heard any effects sound better. My personal favorites are the phasor, which, each time a note is struck will reset itself from the bottom of the sweep, the exploding reverbs, which echo a bit and then "explode" in your face, and the reverse delays which when used with a guitar it'll make it sound like a harp. It also makes you sound like your playing ten times faster. Plug a mike in and talk backwards. As far as sounds of artists, the unit came with 100 factory presets written by artists like Steve Vai. Billy Corgan used one, so you can get a lot of his sounds if you're into that sort of thing. I have mine going through a Marhsall JMP-1 Preamp and out through a power amp in a stereo setup, and it sounds crystal clear. I also use it with my old Gorilla TC-35 and a Vintage Gibson amp. I get a lot of hum there because of the lack of an effects loop but you should have no prob. going through a normal setup. To those of you with the "mono" problem, I sometimes run it through mono with my Gibson and I have had no problem with it.

Reliability : 10
No probs. so far but ive only had it for around 9 months.

I never had any problems with the unit but I had problems finding it so I e-mailed Eventide. They told me the only people that had one in the Greater Cleveland area was Guitar Center so thats where I got mine. The guy aslo told me how to unbalance and phase-reverse cables in order to fit the XLR inputs but luckily Guitar Center sells already modified cables.

I'm not gonna give it a perfect because its ease of use is so bad. You really need to know what you're doing here. I also would probably buy it again, but if it ever got stolen it'd take me awhile because it puts so much of a dent in my budget. Personally I think Eventide should make less expensive, scaled down models like T.C. Electric does. The only one like this is the D/SX for $500 less but it only has 275 presets compared to the SE's 500. I played out of a digitech RP-6 for awhile (I still do) but soon i reached my creative capacity with it so I picked up the Eventide. I can now make my guitar sound any way I want. It's like I'm playing out of a synth now. T.C. Electric, Lexicon, Alesis, they got nothin over these guys.

You can stay fairly simple and still learn or get very wild and try all those far flung ideas you,ve been imagening. Lots of room for growth

Sound Quality : 8
lot s of room to personalize, carefull not to overuse the obvious settings[ as good / classic as they are

Reliability : 7
never had a problem, though the a/c transformer is noisy[hum in quiet settings and the unit gets warm as do other complex like devices

Customer Support : 6
upgrades are reasonably easy to do . bit of an attitude on the phone no deals from the factory

It is capable and like music limited by your imagenation more other blamables. If you can t afford it just pratice instead. se version adds a couple of algorthyms that are my fave[dense verb multi-shift ,worth it over the plain version
