Easy-- stomp and go. Tons of knobs for instant easy tweaking of lots of usable parameters, so you can just bypass menus---
OR
It can go unbelievably deep. You will never exhaust the infinite capabilities of this monster. Unreal.

Nothing better. Nails everything from analog to digital to tape--
including incredible modulations/chorus/flange and some reverbs. Good lord!!
It's says TIME FACTOR- but you realize, all these modulation effects are actually time based effects that happen when you mess with the interplay of delaying waveforms.
I got this delay because I couldn't tweak my other delay pedals to get the "grunge" I wanted when I wanted it. I.e. changing the bit rate, the filters, and more than you can think of. THIS pedal lets me get EXACTLY what I want, it's quite incredible.
And, discrete stereo-- so I can use old stereo output pedals like my Ibanez chorus, and retain the stereo output into two amps for the thickest sound in the universe.

Haven't needed it. Bear in mind-- USB allows you continual firmware updating- it won't become obsolete, at least until Eventide goes belly up, and since they've been around for decades- I don't expect that any time soon- especially when they keep making gear like this.

Well-- you want a LOTUS? A FERRARI? It's going to cost you a few bucks.
But this is worth every penny. Nothing else comes close. Nothing.
Once you mess with one of these, you will be spoiled forever. Why go halfway. Sell your child. Send your wife to a second job.

I have a lot of experience with a lot of different multi effects pedals, and this has been one of the more complicated ones i have come across, AT FIRST.
This is why they include a manual, a few minuets of reading that and i was all set...

For what you get (40 presets+all the bells and whistles), this is hands down the best delay on the market.
the digital delays sound amazing and you can set two delay times with super tweakability,
add an expression pedal and you expand the "tripyness" even further...
the analog delays on the this thing (or analog sounds, since it's a digital pedal) sound great, i mean all you guys who are hating should go out and spend the 300 and 400 a pedal and collect all those vintage/boutique analog delays.
and don't get me wrong this isn't my only delay pedal, i also have a dd-5 with a tap tempo hooked up (i tried to match this sound on my timefactor but it just wasn't the same).
and just for the record in the whole delay war analog v.s. digital, digital wins hands down!
You get exactly what you put in out of it, crapy tone=crappy repeats....
and do yourself a favor and buy the extra aux switches to control tap tempo and bank down...

This pedal can be approached on two levels. On the simple level, it is easy to use, turn the knobs, get a sound going, hold the Delay type knob down to save.
However you can get much more advanced, with global settings, menus and the mysterious Xnob.
And of course what does get confusing are the amazing posiblities locked inside this little gray box.

I'm using this with a Strat/G&L ASAT, T-rex Alberta, MI Audio Boost, and a Sovtek MIG-50 amp head. Cab is a 4X10.
I've had all the 'big' delay pedals, including Boss DD3/5/20, the DL4, the Akai headrush, the TC Nova Delay plus some older stuff like the Ibanez AD80 and a echoDek tape delay.
Great clear, clean digital delays. Gorgeous deep modulation, that is extremely tweakable. The multitap mode is great for general ambience.
One of the cool things about this pedal is that as well as delay it can make a sweet chorus, plus flange, phaser, reverb and nasty bit crusher distortion.
However, I have a little trouble programing in warmer, subtle delays. To me the tape comes close, but doesn't quite get there. The same for analogue/vintage delay.
But for intracate, interweaving delays, with lashings of control, the TF has not yet been beat.

I brought mine second hand, and after a while it started going weird on me. Suddenly settings would change franticly, odd space noises would scream out loudly. After I flicked through presets for a while, it would start working correctly again.
I tried uploading firmware but it made no difference.
After getting really annoyed at the blasted thing, I pulled it apart to have a look. Someone had previously opened it, and had squashed the ribbon cable connecting the two boards. I blew out any dirt or dust, cleaned the plugs with contact cleaner, and installed a new ribbon cable, and it's worked perfect since.
I can't afford a backup, but I don't think I will need one to be honest.

I play mainly praise and worship music. With this pedal, I can nail all of the delay sounds I need.
I would get another if this one died on me, or was stolen.
One thing that people always moan about is the wallwart. This pedal CAN BE POWERED by a pedalpower 2+! You need to get a cable that connects the 2 L6 outputs in parallel. Mine can provide nearly a full amp of current set up this way. The cable I used was from T-rex.

It is extremely easy to get a multitude of good sounds out of it as a matter of fact every sound you get out of it is rich and full, the detail and trail off in the delays is the finest you can purchase, the filters and modulations seem to swell and melt the notes together so that it can be made to sound more like a high end keyboard rather than a guitar, and of course there are three optional true bypass modes. Editing patches is easy and the display is large and well illuminated even for day time use. The manual is concise and clear and doesn't try to sound hip and groovey like the Line 6 Manuals. I use a pair of vintage Fender Twin amps, as stereo is very important if you want to maximise the aural qualities of the unit.

I use a number of guitars with this unit a Guild twelve string, a mohan vina, a Maton 6 string acoustic and a Musicman Stingray, I put the Musicman into an old Zoom 40404 multi effects, and occasionally place the acoustic guitars in front of the amps to get the feedback which I then modulate through the eventide and a chaos pad, I guess you could say I do improvised noise scapes, as I have been playing guitar for 45 years I find songs with beginnings middles and ends too restrictive, this unit allows me all the freedom I can handle

When I bought this unit only a month ago and started to read the manual I could not make head nor tail of it, until I realised that there was a mod factor face on my time factor machine. That's right someone in a Chines assembly plant where they probably assemble television, washing machine, and hair drier, had put the wrong face on the unit. That sort of quality control did not augur well. I took it back the next day and needless to say the salesman was very embarrassed. He replaced it straight away. Then on the weekend at a function the by pass pedal decided to stop working, so once again it is back with the repairman. Not a good start.

I compared this unit with the new TCElectronics stomp box, the Line 6 echo park, and the boss mega delay and the electro harmonics, this was by far the best sound and user friendly. Ilove all the sounds and user interefaces, but as to be expected I hate the Chinese quality control, if it were stolen I would probably replace it with an Ensoniq DP4 if I could find one. It does help me make the music but you have to be care ful not to overdo it because some of the delays settings can go on for ever and cloud the dynamics, but that is the case with all effects

It is easy to use this product, even easier if you read the manual. The manual is fantastic, it reads very human, "down to earth". Editing the patches are simple, just turn a knob. Unit came with firmware 1.1, I updated to 2.0.3[2]. It would be even easier to use if it had less knobs, but then it wouldn't be as versatile. The display is great, quick and responsive, and just looks cool.
I've only played with the unit for one night, but I'm having a little trouble customizing the length of the repeat function. I also think the looper might be useless since you cannot cut the ends of the loop more precisely to create a seamless loop. You can cut the ends by seconds not by milliseconds.

When the effect is engaged it alters my tone, no doubt about that. That's unfortunate. It cuts some lows and adds brightness. I'm a recording engineer and i can hear it - I'm surprised others don't hear it because to my it's obvious. Well it doesn't really alter it to the point of creating a nasty unusable tone, just a different one. But really, when you are playing delay's do you really want a lot of low end stuff repeating? That could get muddy.
It has two bypass modes essentially, "DSP" and "RELAY". RELAY is a true bypass, and it does not alter my guitar's tone at all. DSP bypass sends the signal through the Analog->Digital->Analog converters and that alters the tone. I would recommend RELAY bypass mode, although you cannot get that wonderful ability to have the delay tail carry on after you hit bypass in RELAY mode.
That said, all the effects on the unit sound amazing and different from one another. Majority of the presets are great. Even one really weird one (10:2). My favorite feature is the duckedDelay. I had no idea that I would even want that effect, but it is amazing, my favorite.
I'm using an american fender strat into Timefactor into a VOX AC30cc2. The product does not introduce any buzz/hiss.

When i tried to upgrade the firmware from 1.1 to 2.0.3[2] i had some issues. I downloaded the update utility for windows, installed it, and it ran fine but then paused and froze in the middle of firmware updating. But it may have been because i didn't hold down the middle button while powering up as listed in the update instructions. After waiting 5-10 minutes, I freaked and unplugged the timefactor, leaving me with a bricked unit (no firmware). I emailed customer service.
Luckily for me my housemate has a mac, so i tried the update utility for mac. I made sure to hold the middle button down when updating this time and it worked flawlessly.
I was pretty amazed at customer support, a human emailed me back within 30 minutes!!!!!!! He basically said to uninstall the windows program, and try again being sure to hold the middle button. I didn't try it again since i got it working with the mac utility.

I like the unit a lot so far. The only other delay pedal i've had is a danelectro dan echo. I bought the timefactor for it's true bypass, versitility, look, upgrade-ability, and tap tempo. I ended up getting it for under three-hundred used, lucked out!
I was comparing it (on paper) against the electro harmonix deluxe memory man, but it has no tap tempo = worthless. The diamond memory lane 2 is way way overpriced, looks ugly, and doesn't have a display, WTF? Not to mention products that have numbers attached makes me feel like my gear is going to inevitably eventually be outdated.

You have the read the manual!! At least two times!! The manual is very well written and contains an abundance of info on all aspects of the unit. You have to understand that this is not your typical turn a couple of knobs and away you go type unit. It can be very complex and allows you to get just about any delay sound you are looking for. If you are the impatient type then beware you will probably get frustrated. I have had mine for about two months now and am just scratching the surface of what it can do.

Unbelievable! I've been playing for over 45 years and have owned just about every reverb/delay out there and there is nothing that compares to this unit for sound and versatility. Two separate delays that can be adjusted independent of each other. Nine different delay types, three different bypass types, multiple parameters for each delay, looper, MIDI control, the unit can even be used as a MIDI controller for your DAW. Eventide is using many of the same algorithms that they use on their Harmonizer series of studio effects and it shows. This unit really shines in stereo and an expression pedal is a must. I'm using a Roland EV-5 and it works great. You can also attach a three button momentary switch to remote the three existing switches on the unit itself. I'm using a Dightech FS3X for this. The unit is also upgradeable via your computer so when new features come out you can download them from Eventide. I could go on for pages but you'll just have to hear one yourself.

using the timefactor in the line level(0db) fx loop of my Framus CS 30W head with matching 2x12 Vintage 30 cab.
the amp is a parallel loop so the kill/dry function on the TF is a blessing.
no unmusical noise and the delays/chorus/modulation all sound great.

presets effects are cool and usable with a few over the top ones. ive mainly tweaked half and reprogrammed half.

ive previously owned the Line6 DL4 which i changed to the Boss DD20 due to wanting to run several pedals offo ne powersupply and needed a pedal which could use with line level fx loops.
then upgraded the Timefactor and like this even better.
i play clean cleans, bluesy, jazzy,to rock to heavy high gain metal.
this delay does everything i want from clean/modulting chouruses, SRV lenny type reverbs, to the high gain petrucci/vai type leads
and all other spacey tone altering type fx.
love it. i have to pickup a extra footswitch and maybe a midi pedal board (behringer FBC) so i can change channels on the amp with the behringers built in relays as well as control the time factor via mide...but for now i dont feel liek program midi.
also the looper is a cool addition.

AWESOME, (considering what it has under the hood). With 40 presets (with the free update), and 9 delay types and a looper, hands down the best value for under 400 bucks. There is a slight alteration in tone but this is minor and not that big of deal considering what you get in return!!!!!!!!
Not only are the delay's all AMAZING, but you can get some very CRAZY and very GREAT sounding stand alone (with no delay) chorus's. This was an added bonus.
The software update adds a couple features which enhance the unit; 110 feedback (for self oscillating effects), faster switching between delay sounds and on/off, a "bleed" feature lets the delays blend when switching between different types of delays in the middle of songs, so there is no loss of delay.
bottom line if your a heavy delay user, you need to get this pedal!!!

I think overall I have to give this a 10. it's tape echo and vintage delay as well as digital delay sounds are all great. when I hear the tape echo back on CD, it almost does sound like a space echo. very impressive. one thing I really like about this device is the delayed sound does not get lost - there are no volume drops (read Line6 DL4). also it sounds great inline or in the effects loop. I have had Boss units, the DL4, a Roland RE-150 tape echo (which I don't like to take out and yes, the hiss can sound like the ocean). there's even hiss, wow + flutter settings on the TimeFactor which are pretty funny - thou I don't use them. For the past few months, I've dialed in a few of my favorite sounds, haven't done lots with pre-sets, programming, but I'm really digging the sound quality. best I've heard yet. I play jazz/funk/rock/fusion/avante-something and this thing is great. been getting into spending the bigger bucks for 'boutique' true bypass and it's very worth it to me!

I've been playing+writing 30 some odd years. using a strat, tele or es335 into fender tube amps with a bunch of pedals. I did find something a little funny (sound wise) when plugging the TimeFactor into my Alesis MIDI verb thru the effects loop in my Fender Concert amp. By itself in the efx loop it's fine. when I'm using it an the Alesis, I just put the TimeFactor inline. One of the big thing that sold me on this pedal was that it is USB (internet) upgradeable! I can't believe noone has done this before. brilliant idea. you can even downgrade to the previous version if you don't like the latest. haven't done this yet, but that's what the docs say. Same-Day-Music has a 60 day return policy and no shipping cost - so how could you not try it?! I wanted to sell my DL4, but I actually like the reverse in it, better than the TimeFactor.

Not easy. Want easy and Digital go for boss.
This is a pedal you have to spend some time with.
I have it for about a year now, and I can't say I actually know how to use more than 30% of it's features. I can say though that I can easily now do 100% of what I WANT. After reading the manual, which is excellent, you can learn whatever you NEED, preset what you LIKE, and then it's as simple as 123.
The update is really easy through the firewire. Like the added 110% feedback, though someone almost blew up my amp while tweaking the knobs. I know there where issues before this upgrade, but I didn't try to find them out, and upgraded.
I gave it a 10, in respect to actually getting what you want out of a pedal, not in respect to how many knobs you need to tweak to do so.

No need to look further.
If sound is what you are looking for, buy it.
The next pedal after it would need to be able to process signals from your head to actually sound better. It's dead quiet through buffered signal, and full of tone through the true bypass.
No matter what is your setting, if you have a decent amp it will shine.
It's a perfect ripoff from Radiohead to U2, from Soundgarden to PinkFloyd, it's all in there.

Here's a problem.
The pedal is built to stay. Indestructible.
But the voltage is unique, and you can only use the huge plastic wall rat that came with it. No DC bricks or others compatible. I freaking hate this. I don't know who's decision was it, but I'd fire that guy.
And the guys that said, OK, we'll go with this idea.
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND ?!!!
A 500$ pedal, with a wall rat. Where are you going to gig with it ?
In the living room ?
Freaking bastards.
It's 0 for the wall rat and 10 for the pedal.

Dunno.
I don't believe in customer support. If you need it, it usually means someone is messing around with you. I want to buy something good. Not something that will be good in the future, or if I just send it back and wait for a few month.
I know the early version sucked, but I waited for the second update, and then bought the pedal, so I had no trouble whatsoever.
The software upgrade went absolutely smooth, so if you count it as customer support I'll give it a 10.
I guess most of the low ratings though, where just because people didn't upgrade the software.

This is the real deal. No more delay pedals for me after this one.
Dunno who rated it so low, or why. Comparing it to another Digital delay would be ridiculous. It's better than most of the analogue ones I've heard. Guitarists are a weird bunch of people. I know there are all kinds of players, with all sorts of demands, but with a little know how, and some actual reading through the manual, you really can do with this pedal whatever you like or dream of.
Hey, you have buffered/true bypass in one pedal, so wherever you put it the sound is great, you have two delays, banks, crisp sound, chorus to die for and a pedal that actually sounds analogue, but you don't have to use markers to remember your presets. I used it along with my old MemoryMan deluxe, until I finally ditched the EH. On each stage it would sound different, and I could never remember what was that preset I actually liked, no tap, plus the fact that you had to kneel down each time... enough of that.
I reckon that there will be always people willing to pay for vintage, but why ho why would you use something like that, when this one most of the times will sound so much better, just because you can actually know what is it that you are playing.

Going straight for the knobs, I avoided the presets, which came in handy later, but overall it's an intuitive unit and behaves well with experimenting. Fingers don't get crowded between the knobs, but are close enough not to require that the unit be huge. I have had to refer to the manual once in a while, for finer programming details. Updating it online to the latest software release was problem free.

Best sounding digital delay I've ever used. What's remarkable, aside from the lengthy gorgeous modulated, reversed, ping-ponged delays, which are plentiful and sound top-notch, are the the 10 to 40ms delay times. These are the most natural and uncluttered ear-expanding stereo-spread delays I've ever heard. I may need two units simply because it's hard to change it to the longer delays and abandon the stereo separation the micro delaytime settings achieve.

... it sounds cold and sterile. I lost a lot of bottom end. It turned my Lone Star 2x12 into a 1x10 practice amp. That and there are audible issues (warbles and glitches) when switching patches.
I had great hopes for this pedal but I was really let down. It was deflating.

I would never use this on a gig. I was lucky and the music store took it back. Even if the hardware is durable, I have serious doubts about the software. I have developed software for a living and I expect that a number of revisions are pending on this pedal.

Given the promises in the literature, the brand, the $503 price and my lofty yet reasonable expectations of this product, my overall rating has to be very low. It is useless to a pro guitarist and way too expensive to be a backup or an at home toy.

Pretty straight forward if you've read anything about the product. Only rated a 9 because of the differing modulation functions of each delay type.
Very easy to edit and save patches.
Manual is clear and easy to understand.

Gibson LP > Fulltone Fulldrive > Timefactor > HBE psyilocybe > Mesa Dual Rec
Very quiet operation with the ability to run in preset mode or tap tempo/infinite repeat mode.
Every one of the delays is top notch. Favorites being vintage and band delays.
Some of the coolest functions on the pedal are within the tape echo. You have the ability to simulate tape hiss, wowing effect, and flutter which can give you infinite possibilites to re-create vintage tones without having the hassle of the real thing.

I've been playing rock n' roll for the past 15 years and haven't come across a delay pedal that can sound as good and do as much as this little guy. Been through the entire Boss lineup, TC's M series and Gmajor, Ibanez AD, and the crappy L6 stuff. Although TC's new nova pedal is pretty cool, this pedal had a few more features including midi control which is very nice to have in a switching system.
It would be a nice improvement if instead of a DelayA/DelayB Mix knob there were seperate Delay A/B level knobs. I notice that the wet mix is a little bit strong while using the distortion on my amp past about 10 (1-100).
This is the best sounding digital delay for the money. The features and versatility are unmatched. If you have the need for multiple delay settings for your set, look no further.

It's not that hard, if you aren't a moron like some other people here on this thread. It's Eventide, not Digitech or Boss, which means you will have to spend a little bit of time with it to get familiar with the features. Once you are familiar with the features, then it's easy to get a great sound

Outstanding sound quality. I have been on a quest for the perfect delay pedal for 18 years, and I've tried them all(well, almost all of them), but this one is a cut above. My favorites are the Mod Delay and Band filter. Very quiet.
I use this with a mixer, not an amp, and using this in stereo is a must to get the most out of it.
Don't waste your money chasing some Wayhuge AquaPuss with a paltry 300ms of delay, nor should you waste your money on a Moog delay(really overrated), if you want the maximum bang for the buck, this pedal is it.

Very intuitive and musical. Loaded with great presets, ready for you to shape into your own style. Could be used just as easily with a rockabilly band for that good old slap back tape echo, or insane ambient Brian Eno-isms. Again, assuming you aren't a moron, or a whiner, or a gear dork who obsesses solely about the features without ever applying them to the real world.

This is an exceptional delay. Looking get rid of my Echo Pro, wound up first with a Damage Control TimeLine, which had nice sounds but was waaaay too damn clunky and had a bizzare interface (magic eye and all). Sent the TimeLine back for the TimeFactor and was blown away. This thing has awesome tones right out of the box. They really hit a home run with this one.

Very feature rich digital delay pedal. If you want everything in a delay pedal inclding the kitchen sink then this is the delay pedal for you. Selecting a delay and making adjustments is fairly easy. However, if you want to use all its feature, then you should read the manual.

The delay sounds are top notch. I love the tape echo delay. I have an analog delay pedal that I've A->B'ed with this one. This digital delay pedal easily rivals it. I have this pedal in-line with others as I do not use the effects loop on my amp. I have not experienced any extraneous noise or hum. Nor have I had any of the problems other folks have cited on the gear page web site.

I searched high and low for a digital delay pedal. I ended up deciding that I wanted a function rich pedal. Having to pay a premium price for such a pedal, I selected this pedal after reading good things about Eventide's customer support and bad things about rival TC Electronic's customer support who makes the Nova Delay pedal. Eventide is a US based company so I figured it would be easier to contact them, if I needed customer support. Hopefully I will never need h a function rich pedal. My rating here is based on other's experience with their customer service.

This is a fantastic sounding delay pedal that rivals analog although I truly think the price is steep. This pedal is very function-feature rich. I can live with its size. Seems very well built. The only minor gripe is they should have mounted the sets of input and output jacks in reversed order on the back panel. From the prospective of looking at the pedal, the input jacks should be on the right and output jacks on the left of the back panel so the cables don't cross. It has many more features then I will probably ever use. However, I decided I might as well have everything in a digital delay pedal just in case I ever want-need to use any of the features. As long as the pedal proves reliable, if it were stolen I would definitely replace it with another one.

It's not that difficult to figure out. I like the dual but independent delays. As someone else said, the control knobs are too sensitive and the wet/dry mix is WAY too slanted for wet. I keep mine on 3 out of a possible 100.

I tried putting this thing in every possible order in the chain and all 3 bypass modes but there is a volume change and a drastic tone change. Noise combined with midrange mush. The best sound is using it by itself on the clean channel. I was expecting more for the price and Eventides reputation. I tried using a Klon, Varidrive and a Bluesdriver on a Marshall and a Fender with little to no change in the volume and tone problems.

It sounds better in Jazz genre than rock or country. If your looking for the drop dead delay pedal of your life, keep looking. Unless Eventide issues a USB firmware update soon this things going back. After looking at other forums and from other peoples experience here I have to say Eventide has failed to deliver.

Eventide Time Factor is interesting but here are my concerns-
Yes it easy to use and get a very sweet serious of delay tones than can be modified and stored (20 presets f your choosing in 10 banks of 2)
I purchased and have been doing serious deep trials:
For Pro tour and Hi end Soundtrack use use.
HERE IS WHAT I'VE FOUND THAT TROUBLES ME -- SERIOUSLY:
Yes sounds great-
Yes can add modulation to the delays- but
Definite change in tone when activating- even a completly dry mix.
I have tried all three bypass settings-
still a definite change- in tone/volume to dry sound- when activating a preset-
or any other self made seting.
Difficult to dial in settings- the controlls are way too sensitive-
The Dry /Wet dial is way too geared towards Wet.
A nice balanced delay on this pedal requires a dy/wetmix of 1 or 2-
And that is way too close to the edge of the dial swing.
They need to ad a " Link Controls function"
so that when you are programmig both delays - exactly the same,
you don't have to set each controll twice.
They need to add a "Go Back function"
so that you can dial back to an earlier Bank preset
withou having to dial up through any later banks-
(i know you can limit the number of banks- but still a go back function is essential).
They need to add a "Chaining Delay function", so that one delay can Feed the next delay.
Also I was told that it would use a standard "BOSS TYPE AC PLUG- NOTE IT DOES NOT!!
but it should.
Otherwise great potential.
cause the delays and modulations are sweet sounding
But the main concern is :
XXXX------difficult to dial exact settings in-
And most important--problem:
XXXXX------When activaqting any delay effect-
there shoud be no change in volume or tone to your dry singnal-
And there is an obvious one..
That is someting Eventide must fix immediately if possible??
Eventide are you listening??
This pedal is very close to getting it all correct- but not there yet!!
Untill they address these issues.

Pro level touring and very well known ORIGINAL Soundtracks
Very nice tones- yes excellent sound quality....
but troubling alteration in dry tone upon any effect activation.
I hope they (Eventide) reads this and fix issues immediately
becauese otherwise this is a very interesting and potentially useful
pro tour/ soundtrack recording delay-
of course also potenially great for local jamming and festival playing etc.

Guitar orieted -
multiple directions-
It is essential for Eventide to:
1. Fix the audible change in dry tone-- upon every effect activation
2. Make the controlls less sensitive
3. Add Link controll for programming both delays the same
4. Provide ability to step back instead of cycling through your Banks of presets
5. Make the WET/ Dry controll more geared towards Dry

For impatient & rushed types: 20 presets with two always ready.
For the rest of us who've gone through various rack FX and stompers who want a variety and depth to delays and ALL the parameters: this is it. After a quick scan of the detailed manual, great basic sounds are there for the taking. But the more you get into it, the learning curve and flexibility take you where you've never been with ANY other pedal. A great manual, but it's detailed. It's worth it when you hear what this little critter can pull off.

Bottom line: the quality is absolutely without comparison. Most of the major studios use their rack stuff, and most of everybody's favorite players use their rack gear for processing & sweeting. I have personally gone thru the old Klempt Echolette, Guild Echorec and so many others to carrying huge rack systems: this is the savior and welcome addition to my small Pedal Train pedalboard. Stereo or mono, true analog bypass, two independant delays w/ up to 3 seconds delay PLUS a 12-second looper w/ instant program change. Feature loaded to say the least! Tap temp or midi clock synch. Using in the FX loops of Boogies (Lone Star Special & Stilleto Ace) and Fuchs combos w/ PRS, Zion and Ed Reynolds cutoms. Noise-free circuit and zero-click with the 3 switches too. Brights leds and clear display as well. Kicks the daylights our of everything else.

Not as easy as a regular stompbox but not rocket science either. Eventide did a very good job of keeping it relatively simple so it's still feature-laden but user-friendly.
Having said that, it is very important to read the manual before using it to understand what knob controls what parameter for each effect and such.

I bought this unit to replicate the sounds of Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and other classic rock acts.
My setup:
LP or Strat>>plethora of ODs, Fuzzes, Wah, Phaser, Vibes>> Timefactor>> Soldano reverb-o-sonic and Fender Super reverb
The sound quality is absolutely amazing, probably unheard-of in pedal form. Twin delay lines and a lot of processing power make for a very flexible and musical unit. Chorusing, filtering and reverse effects, all sound incredible.
As good as it sounds in mono - and it does sound incredible in mono - and at bedroom levels, the Timefactor absolutely shines in a stereo situation where you can turn up the volume. Amazingly rich and detailed echoes, chorused delays, filtered repeats and even a very interesting, fun and dead-on Ring Mod emulation.
It has only 20 presets but, frankly, unless you are playing long sets of wildly experimental music, you probably don't need more. Some of the factory-set presets are show-offs (predictably) but most are musical and useful from the get-go. More importantly, all sound stunning, especially in stereo where the multi-layered textures seem to add presence to your guitar tone. There is also a 12 second looper.
Spend some time reading the manual and it becomes easy to adjust presets, especially since for each of the 9 types of delays the several knobs adjust different aspects and parameters.
Also the unit has been very cleverly devised to allow for maximum flexibility. Not only you can use a MIDI footswitch and expression pedal, you have Aux ins to add other control devices, a USB port for downloading new programs and the ability to have stereo ins/stereo outs so the twin delay lines can be tweaked in ways I don't think were possible for pedals before.
Excellent unit, very quiet and powerful. Can't say enough good things about the sound quality.

I've been playing guitar for 23 years and have used several analog and digital delays, including some rack gear. This pedal has the best delay sound I have ever heard, a very good combination with the style of heavy, progressive, space classic rock I usually play.
Only other similar option would probably be the brand new TC Nova Delay but I did not test it against it.
I just love its astonishing sonic quality. Truly a musical unit, designed by musicians.
If stolen, well, I'd have to track the mofo down, stripp him/her of her liver, feed it to the vultures and go get me a new one.
