Ease of Use

Easy operation - separate Level, Attack, Sustain, and Tone controls. Manual very clear, with some good sample settings to get you started. Transparent sound and easy to achieve.

Very quiet operation, and lovely compression, particularly sustain. Fat and funky neck position sounds great. Playing with Standard USA Strat, 52 Reissue Tele, Gibson ES330, Ibanez Artist '76 in to Orange Tiny Terror and PPC 112 cab. All respond differently with the CP-04, but very pleasing. Have also the Boss CS2 Compressor, which I still like, but wanted more control over the tone of compression, which the Exar does well. Tried this rather than the CS3. Noise free operation, coupled with Diago UK's excellent Power Strip for the pedal board.
Reliability

The appearance belies it's ruggedness. Well made and solid, despite plastic appearance and somewhat garish design, though I gather the manufacturers are working on this for future. Easy footswitch with no noise on application. Don't be put off by its appearance - the features heavily outweigh the overall look. Given a 9 out of 10 just for this reason.

Bought from the incredibly helpful and knowledgeable James at Diago UK. He knows his stuff. Has constant contact with the Exar people and has discussed with me his and their hopes to improve appearance of this great pedal. I know I can rely on James should anything come up. Always a personal and highly efficient service.

Music for film and tv, all styles and genres. Would buy again if lost - love the tone of this thing. Maybe I should investigate their other pedals now.
