First, I should to apologize for my english..
There are 2 knobs: Attack adn Threshold. It's not quite dificult to operate, but hard to get the sound you want.
I had no manuals with it.

I've tried EF-1 with Squier Strato Affinity, Pacifica PAC112 and Gibson Les Paul Standard on amps: Fender Frontman 25, Laboga L-50, Marshall VS8080 and Marshall VS 2000. Also played one gig with unknown semi-hollow guitar with Hughes and Kaetnner Metroverb.
The best sound with this pedal we've get on last option (semihollow+H&K) with clean channel and was set on min. attack and almost max treshold. Sounds nice with OD1 on Marshalls for rythm, and light solos. Not for heavy dist, although i've tride it to heavy-dist-feedbacks-with-total-mess.. Like an onthers Exars, there is some noise when plugged, even if unpressed, but it's reather quiet (there's no volume/level knob). Never did the sound that would even be a little similiar to any of my favourites musicans, so grades are not too good.
Reliability

Reliability? Hmm.. It's almost all metal, knobs are plastic, but durable. Rubber part of covering batteries and plastic cover of pedal are the weakest parts of this construction. I've tried on gig, but it was somewhat risky;)

I play prog, nu-metal, punky, hardcore, psychodelic music.. This pedal is rather for fun, weird tones, but it was used (successfuly) with clean channel live. Of course there is many better-sounded effects, but when you're novice or like weird sound, or just lookin somethin different it would be useful. Nothing to love, nothing to hate. Just like to compare an old 486 with River Raid, and Pentium 2,4 Ghz with powerful ProTools.
