I tried to use it with my Dobro and the Schatten RG-03 pickup I have built in. The idea was to make my live PA-Sound better. I connected the Fishman with one input of the Yamaha Stagepas 500 PA we're using for small gigs.
It was not noisy; it's digital. It has true bypass.
If you put blend fully to the right you hear the "image" which you can blend with the original input sound anti-clockwise.
Every single one of the 16 presets sounded terrible. I'd expect if something is sold with the name of one of my favourite artists on it (of course there are Mike Auldridge, Rob Ickes, Tut Taylor and many others) it would at least not sound like ****.
I think maybe you got to use a fishman pickup or a transducer or preamp by them. But that's just a guess and I won't buy one after this experience. I tried something else and put my ART TUBE MP STUDIO V3 before the Aura. It made nothing better. Hands off!

I play blues, bluegrassy, Hawaiian and jazzy stuff on the Dobro. I started on (double) bass in 1972 and play resonator guitar for about 10 or 12 years. I also use a 1947 Gibson BR-3 lap steel with a blackface Fender Princeton reverb amp from 1963. I picked up 5-string-banjo in 2006. I take lessons with Ruediger Helbig.
I am not quite satisfied with my combination of SCHATTEN pickup and ART preamp although the ART tube circuit bettered something of the clangy, swishy piezo sound. But this Fishman product is not helpful to us resonator pickers out here.

It's simple, three knobs, two switches and a trimpot. How hard can that be.
No manual needed

My setup includes:
- Beard Road-o-phonic with both Lace and Fishman pickups
- Scheerhorn Resophonic with Schertler Basik pickup
- Running into Electroplex Rocket 50 or direct into AW2400
- Using Digitech chorus or PodXT chorus or Yamaha WAVE effects
System is quiet

I've dealt with Fishman before on other products and have met Larry Fishman before, great guy.

Bluegrass - this is great to mimic the sound of a studio quality setup with mic's and sound-isolation.
I've played for almost 35 years and I'd replace the unit if it was lost or stolen.
I want to get one or more of hte Fishman AFX pedals to pair up with this one and I'll probably also by the Dreadnaught Aura Image pedal as well.
