Takes a little getting used to because the temptation is to go overboard with everything. Once you calm down a bit and maybe email back and forth with Dave Fox a few times you'll find some really amazing tones.

Sound Quality : 9
This is a tough one. Now I'm using (in this order) Grosh Strat/Warmoth Tele-Mayer Red Lion Wah-CC2-mini biComp-SupaTrem-AC & RC Booster-ChoralFlange-DD20 into a Gerlitz Revelator. It sounds amazing with the right amp and guitar. I've owned 3 of them now (2 cc2's and a cc1). I originally had a Bad Cat Cub with it and could not for the life of me get good fuzz tones. Now I've got a Deluxe Reverb and Plexi based setup and I can't get a bad tone out of it. I think the Vibe and Octave work well with just about anything but the fuzz is temperamental. But man, with the right amp it's amazing. All 3 effects work well with other effects. The vibe marries great to trem and delay and the fuzz sounds good going into an od, boost, or compressor.

Reliability : 9
I think I'd have make a deliberate effort to break it. The only knock against it is the normal'ed jacks have to be cleaned with electronics cleaner periodically. They gunk up but that's just the nature of these types of jacks.

Customer Support : 10
Dave is one of, if not the best out there is this department. I've owned a few of his products now and he's always been very reachable and very thorough with advice and tips.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm on my third one and don't plan on getting rid of this one. This unit has become an integral part of my tone and it's just an enjoyable piece of gear. I can't imagine anything that would replace it (unless there's cc3 in the future ;-). The fact that you get 3 classic effects that work well with anything modern you can pair it with goes a long way in making this thing almost impossible to become obsolete in any rig.

Easy to get useful sounds. Can re-patch effects in any order. Manual is very helpful and informative.

Sound Quality : 10
Didn't like fuzz at first, I was used to using distortion/OD pedals. Manual suggests using a tube screamer type pedal after the fuzz for additional flexability. I'm using a mesa bottle rocket with 2 12at7 for this purpose. The mesa replicates a dirty tube amp perfectly into any amp at any volume. With a dirty tube amp, the fuzz and guitar volume knob does everything from treble boost to mild/hot tube screamer boost to full on saturated fuzz american woman tone. This is not just a Hendrix/SRV/Trower pedal, early Zep, Yardbirds, Doors, and Cream are covered perfectly as well. I let my guitar slinger friend jam on this rig using my G&L asat classic and fender bandmaster. He is a classic rock guru with his les paul and flextone II, but with my rig, he can't believe how authentic it sounds and has asked me on several occasions how I was able to make it sound so real. I tell him it's just there. The octave is top notch as well as the vibe. The ESC is a brilliant feature for the vibe playing clean. Yes it's very wet and warm sounding. No points off for nothing. There will always be a place in music for these tones, I like modern music too like Korn, mushroomhead, Tool,System O the Down, but they will never be remembered or loved like Hendrix and Zeppelin is.

Reliability : 10
Built like a bomb shelter.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it

Overall Rating : 10
Sounds great stand alone but the mesa tube OD greatly enhances the tones of this pedal. This pedal also greatly enhances the tones of the mesa tube OD especially when rolling off the guitar volume. This is the sound that a tube screamer approaches but with a TS you don't have volume knob magic controlling not only gain but tone as well. At 3/4 guitar volume it's treble boosted OD ala.. Hendrix/SRV and at full it's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Fuzz modeling is an absolute toy compared to this. This is a tool.

This pedal come's with a ton of sound's & tone's to choose from. The manual is very well written and a big help with the Provibe. It take's a bit of time and tweaking to dial in you're vibe sound. Well worth the time spent. Both Analogman.com & Foxroxelectronics.com have a ton of info on there sites about this unit, users and settings. Not to mention good audio clips.

This is the 2nd CCII I have owned. I have been using this effect for almost three years. Ive tried everyone else's effect's on the market and there is a reason I have come back to the Capt again.

Sound Quality : 10
The CCII is a great sounding box. I had mine upgraded with the Analogman NKT275 Fuzzcard for that early Hendrix Fuzzface sound. I had purchased the CCII for the Provibe & Fuzzfoot. The Octavia is a added
benefit and well worth the $400 for all three effects.

The key to getting a good sound with a Fuzz is to use you're Guitar's volume knob. I run my Fuzzfoot third in my signal chain to give me as much control as possible. I also run a Fulltone SoulBender Fuzz pedal after the Fuzzfoot and both effect's work perfectly. The SoulBender can be a little sensitive with what is placed before it. I keep the Fuzzfoot set for that earlyer Hendrix type of Fuzz. The Soulbender is set wide open to capture more of that earlyer 90's fuzz sound.

I am currently using a PRS Custom 22,Bogner XTC 101B wirh 2x12 cabinet and pedalboard. F.T. Clyde wah w/Foxrox wah Retrofit,CCII Octavia,CCII Fuzzfoot,Soul Bender,A.M. BI-Comp,F.T. Full Drive II,CCII Provibe, Foxrox Flanger,F.T. Supertrem,A.M. Clone Chorus,Line 6 DL4.

75% of my sound's come from the Bogner. I use these effect's only when needed and set them to add a little bit of flavor. The thing I love is how transperant the CCII is. You can hear the effect, while retaining you're guitar and amp sound. All of of Foxrox's & Analogman's effects
are great at doing this and are worth the price paid. People can tell the differance.

Reliability : 10
These effect's are built to take a beating. Knob's and footswitches are solid. Keep in mind you are dealing with product's built to withstand being used on a regular basis. Mike "Analogman" or Dave "FoxRox" will take care of you if something where to go wrong.

Customer Support : 10
Dave is great at getting back to you're emails. I had a issue with killing power supply's on my Flanger and the 1st CCII I had owned. Dave
set me up with where to get replacement power supplys.

Overall Rating : 10
Foxrox products are great! I love the CCII and Flanger. I use and abuse them on a regular basis. Take the time and read the manual, these effect's are filled with a ton of tonal options. It does take a little bit of tweaking but once you have found youre sound, Look Out!

Ease of Use : 8
This pedal is very easy to get great tones from. If you like tweaking, you'll love this pedal. There are so many different tones you can dial in. I got my Captain Coconut from www.analogman.com. It came with big manual in a binder. If you have any questions on how to operate it, the manual will answer it. It is very helpful.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound of this pedal is amazing. This is not at all like the mass produced junk that passes for guitar effects these days. Analogman.com has the best pedals you can buy. Everything I have bought from him I have been very impressed with, and this is no exception. I use a left-handed Fender Stratocaster with the Captain Coconut into a Teese Picture Wah into a Marshall 1987X Head and 1960TV Cabinet. It sounds like Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I have studied their technique extensively. The best way to achieve their tone is to study their technique, not really with pedals. However, this pedal does give you instant Hendrix tones right off the bat. You can't go wrong with it. The Univibe sounds like your amp is underwater. It's awesome. The octavia is the best I've ever used. Even if you're not going for a Hendrix/SRV sound, you can dial in tones that are completely yours.

Reliability : 10
I think this pedal would survive a nuclear fallout. All that would be left would be cockroaches and the Captain Coconut hehe. It built in a strong steel case. It is super heavy. I would use it for a gig, in the studio, anywhere. It is very dependable.

Customer Support : 10
Foxrox Customer Support is very good. Dave Fox responded to all my emails, and gave me good advice. He's a fellow lefty like me. I don't see why I would ever need it repaired, but if I did I'm sure he'd do it and make it good as new.

Overall Rating : 10
I really like this pedal. I play blues and rock 'n roll, and this pedal suits my tastes fine. I have been playing for 8 years. If it were stolen or lost, I would buy another one if I couldn't get mine back. I love the versatility of the pedal. My favorite feature is the fuzz on it. I chose this pedal because Kenny Wayne Shepherd now uses one, and he's the closest player to Stevie Ray Vaughan I've heard today. I think this will make really nice recordings. It's not only a great pedal, but a great investment.

Took me awile to get the perfect tone. I found the manual to be very helpful which is rare.

Sound Quality : 10
I have had the cc2 now for a little over a year and have just now decided to post a review. This product along with anything from analogman.com is the best you can get. if you are new to these 3 pedals it will take awhile to learn how to use them tastefully. best thing is to listen to hendrix, trower and srv. once you get a feel for this pedal you will love it.

Reliability : 10
again, this is so rare these days. it seems that everything that is mass prouduced these days is crap, so when i'm shopping for effects analogman.com is the only place i go.

if you are new to these pedals...like i was....give it time and practice
using this thing. tweak, tweak, tweak and tweak some more. listen to the people who made these pedals famous. the cc2 is made for professionals, and in the right hands it is amazing.

Not hard to get a good sound from it.
somewhat tricky to master it, especially the octave
it has some of the limitations of the original circuits upon which it is based
Not a toy, a mook could go to hell real quick with this thing
the manual is quite detailed & helpful however

Sound Quality : 10
62' ri strat w/fralins>rmc3>octave>fuzz>KOT>keely comp> provibe>swampthang>memoryman>SHO>fender reverb tank> '66 bassman>tonemaster 2x12 w/weber californias
for what it is( fuzz, octave, univibe) the cc2 is not noisy at all.
the octave can deliver that authentic "one rainy wish" tone perfectly
but you really have to back off the tone knob to get there
it can also take you beyond the realm of chaos
octave is not something i use a lot of
FUZZ-
i have the germanium card.
even with the fuzz dimed, notes still cut through (cut is an understatement here- how about seared onto your brainpan)
the weather does affect this card
but this can be compensated for with the grit knob
I had the silicon card but found it obscured the subtlties in my style
great for power chord type stuff though, also it is weather-proof.
i use the fuzz for leads- at this it slays bitterly, utterly & with contempt
fuzzy riffs are not my style
Provibe-
Watery, 3D, best i ever heard
someone compared the cc2 unfavorably to the voodoovibe
I did not find that to be the case at all
The cc2 will really shine in the studio
that is not something commonly said about stompboxes
it is THE actual sound as opposed to a knock off

Reliability : 10
overbuilt quality, handmade, 2 years-no problems yet
super heavy duty box, top quality jacks & switches
backup? yeah right

Customer Support : 10
dave fox is a good egg
-at least by me

Overall Rating : 10
here's the deal on this thing: if your seriously into these effects (fuzzface, octavia, univibe) buy it. you will not find better clones.
this thing is super responsive & alive
a lot of thought & consideration went into this unit
the design & craftsmanship are beyond compare
when you consider this, the price is actually cheap
i've played electric guitars going on 20 years now
as far as these things go-
the CC2 is the grail

so now you know

This bad boy comes with a manual w/ some tips on how to use it. Took me couple days to get the sounds I wanted. Octave has 2 controls, Fuzz has 3, and Provibe (Univibe) has 3. The octace is tricky, Love the Fuzz, but the Provibe is where all the fun is at. Volume on guitar has to be on 10 when using the Fuzz to get a good lead sound. And unless you already know how to deal w/ an octave, you gotta tweak the bastard a couple times. I only use it for leads.

Sound Quality : 8
My setup is: Strat>CC2>Analogman SD/808>Vox847wah>Super Reverb.
The thing used to be noisy w/ my SD/808 on and this Marshall transistor amp I used at church. Had to move things around and still the same. Tried it at home w/ my Super and it would be quiet as a mime. I've come to the conclusion that this works better w/ tube amps. Fuzz was not dependable w/ transistor amp. One day it was thin, then the next it would be too much fuzz. Only the Provibe was useable at church. At a friend's house I tried it with a 66 Twin Reverb and a Fender Blues Deluxe tube amp, w/ the Twin, I got a great Santana tone w/the fuzz along w/ the obvious Buddy Guy, Jimi, SRV, Gilmour,Trower sound. But also Beautiful late Clapton-esque chorus like Woman tone w/ the Provibe. On the Blues Deluxe, it had a nice bright sound w/ all 3 effects and a different array of sounds (amp is fairly bright as a damn rainbow). But nevertheless, Gotta have a great tube amp w/ this to sound good when playing live.

Reliability : 10
Can you depend on it? H-E-L-L Y-E-A-H! And I would not gig w/o a backup unless I had a great amp and guitar.

Customer Support : 10
Here's where it shines. My girlfriend bought it for me on Ebay used and I used it for about 6 months. I left it at church after band practice one day and it didn't work. Pissed, I asked Analogman what to do, he told me to email Dave. I sent it to him and he said the adaptor had blown up cause someone at church tried to plug it into one of those pedal power things. So he gave me another one and also fixed whatever had also blown up inside the Provibe section of the CC2, Free of Charge. Yep, Free of Charge, he even paid for shipping!! Dave Fox and Analogman (Mike Peira) are the best at customer support as they rely care about their customers. They don't see us as their clients, but as brothers in pursiut of T-O-N-E!

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing BLUES, R&B, classic rock, reggae, for about 5yrs. and this thing is a perfect match. I would buy another if it were stolen. I love everything about it and the only gripe I have w/ the CC2 is that it requires a certain type of AC adaptor to run it. This thing is built tough as hell as KWS uses it on the road. This thing is built so tough, I use it to prop up my bed as my 170+ lbs. lay on it. And play it the next day! Just kiddin! I ain't 170.

This pedal can be tough to get good sounds out of on the first try...it has a learning curve and you need to figure out settings that work best for your style of playing....the manual is very informative and helpful but the best way is to just spend time playing and fiddling knobs and trying out amps and guitars...i like the feature that allows you to change the order of the effects but i leave it as stock ( i think its fuzzfoot, ocatavia and provibe)...once you get the sound you want this thing rocks and theres nothing else like it...

Sound Quality : 10
I am mostly a strat guy (probably most are who like Jimi and have this pedal) and i run various smith strats, an old hondo strat that sounds like a piano (cheap, but weird/ good pickups!), a custom hollow strat, and an acoustic with a bartolini soundhole pickup....occassionally i use an old les paul studio...for amps i run through a princeton 65, fender concert, ampeg vt22 or when i really want to turn knobs i go through my seymour duncan convertible....i occassionally use my pod through a power amp (bloody loud) and set the reverb real high on the clean setting (it sounds crazy) or use the pod chorus with the provibe (Wow)...

This pedal is damn quiet...and you can get pitch shift vibrato (subtle) with the envelope controlled thing this pedal has but overall the best feature (what i got it for) is the envelope controlled speed chorus...with hard pick attack you get quick shifts/ modulations in the chorus effect and then it slows down with you in terms of intensity of string vibration and so forth....COOL....a tremolo that responds to you.....i've always wondered why no one thought of this before....and if Dave Fox would have included a switch to reverse the taper or response of the envelope, it would be even cooler...How about it Dave??

All the effects are top notch....but the fuzzfoot isn't really to my liking and i don't remember which fuzz card came with my unit and i'm too lazy to change it....i have enough good sounding fuzzes....(P.E. experience- nuff said!!)

the octave is cool but very reminescent of a ring modulator and it has those overtones sometimes which makes t distinctive but this effect takes some getting used to...
the pedal is very responsive to dynamics and changes nicely with volume and tone knob variations...

Reliability : 10
This thing is a tank without wheels....never had a problem..
if it had wheels it would probably hurt someone because it is fairly large and nicely weighted....
i think it could kill small animals if you rolled it toward them and they didn't see it coming....
go captain go!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with the company ....ordered through musictoyz....i hate to buy expensive pedals (especially ones like fulltone, klon, tonebone, teese) but this thing is so damn unique its worth it in my opinion for the envelope controlled chorus/ vibe...

Overall Rating : 10
i play mostly alternative rock but i occasionally have a jimi moment and try to weave that stuff in there....mostly vocal oriented not really crazy complex stuff....but i can play it.....

this pedal and other weird/ bizarre ones like it help you approach things differently and get new ideas....play it with a delay (analog) and hear how many different textures are going on...

i've been playing intensely for about 5 or 6 years and have a lot of weird pedals and play tube amps and digital as well....
I would probably buy it again if it was stolen but i would probably try to make my own first...

there's nothing else that compares to the three effects this pedal provides...the fuzzfoot is very distinctive (not trashy, but very focused and a little strident but really cuts through)...the octave reminds me of a confused ring mod that does octave as a second job....and the provibe with the ecs is amazing...it is a novelty type of effect that you won't use that much but its worth it for that one thing you will do....it also has a jack for an expression pedal to control provibe speed and i've been too lazy to get this, but i want to....

in short dave fox is a great person for making this pedal, if he had squeezed an analog delay with the ecs feature as well i would probably have bought it as well (hint) and it would probably weigh like 20 pounds...so what...this guy knows his stuff...

At first glance the CC2 looks like a simple plug and play, a few knobs and footswitches, 3 separate effects internally chained (with the option of in/outs for each FX to patch as you please. Very nice option!).

But you may want to bring a cold beer with you once you plug in and start trying to find your sweet spots. Not saying things are difficult, just that I found the controls to be very active...(as in, barely turning the center control on the ProVibe will yield massively different sonic tones). That said, READ DAVE FOX's MANUAL!!!!!!!!! Most stombox manuals you barely need to crack and get to do what you need. Not the CC2. Dave Fox's manual is VERY insightful and chocked full of tonal goodness and once you read the CC2 manual you will be able to let the Tone Captain out of the bottle! The CC2 Manual will get you started in the right direction pretty quickly (especially the FuzFoot and Octavia)

Sound Quality : 10
First off, the CC2 was designed to work best with TUBE AMPS! The FuzzFoot and Octave really sing when pushing your amps front end. Nothing snobbish about this, it's just how the pedal will shine best.

True bypass. I A/B'ed with straight guitar to amp and with CC2 chained in. True bypass. All effects should be like this.

Many other reviewers have stated very well about what each effect does so I won't bore you with that.

I bought this unit mainly for the Provibe. I have always been a univibe freak since hearing Trower's "Bridge of Sighs". I wanted to match that slightly off-center warble. I checked out the MP3 demos at the FoxRox website and was impressed. Then I found out KWS dumped his Univibe for the CC2. So thanks to that plus all of the reviewers here I took the plunge.

Once I found "my" sweet spot (width around 1:00 and center at 11:00) I hit that classic Univibe sweep tone. I'm still playing with where to put the Provibe in my chain. Fox recommends after any distortion boxes (I definitely agree) into amp frontend. So far though, I'm liking my Provibe in my amps FX loop. Provibe with Fuzzfoot on at high guitar volume does have slight phase swoosh. But the Provibe is very transparent! What I mean is that it does not sound processed and that in-of-itself was worth it.

The Octave effect...if you have never played thru one, set your guitar (preferably single coil) to the neck pick-up and turn you guitar volume to about 80%.

If you have played thru an Octave effect, THIS THE MOST MUSICAL SOUNDING OCTAVIA I HAVE EVER TRIED! AWESOME!

As things go (and we have all had it happen) what we buy a piece of gear for is not always what blows us away. This is what happened to me with the CC2 and IT IS WHY I AM WRITING. I did not plan on you using the Fuzzfoot except for a quick tone change every now and then. Some coloring. Was my life changed. I followed Dave Fox's lead in setting the Fuzzfoot for cleaning up when I roll my guitars volume down. THE FUZZFOOT ROCKED MY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With my Strats volume around2-3.5 and in number 5 pick-up switch. I was hitting SRV tones left and right. he kind of tone where at first you are like "Is that a clean tone" but as you play there is a slight break-up like your is getting pushed. Good song example is Journey's "Lights" or SRV's "things I used to do" or "texas flood". Then you roll your volume up and sweet, rich, violin type distortion. Like I said, I feel like I saw the light. Absolutely heavenly tones! My fav setting is Grit around 8:00 and Fuzz almost completely turned down. The Fuzzfoot alone is worth the units price.

My main Axe is Fender Strat Ultra Plus with Lace Sensors through an ever-evolving pedal line-up with a Peavy Classic 50/2-12 (all tube pre-amp and power amp section)

Dave Fox of FoxRox says the CC2 is voiced mainly for single coil guitars but I plugged my '99 Gibson Les Paul Standard into it and was still rolling on the Tone Highway. Matter of fact, this could be a fun toy for all of us earlier Billy Gibbons freaks.

Hope this gives you a good fell of what you'll get!

Reliability : 10
Dave Fox goes out of his to use only the best in his units. He his an active musician who knows what gigs are like and designs his boxes to withstand. It is obvious he takes GREAT pride in all of his products. Gig with out a back-up...hell I'm half-tempted to toss the rest of pedals. Except for my DOD 690 Chorus (old late 70's tank) all my toher pedals look and feel fragile compared to the CC2. Only complaint..this unit requires a good wall wart. You would hope that a unit of this price and construction would not curse you with the horrors of wall warts

Customer Support : No Opinion
Personally, I have had no problem, but Dave Fox makes himself very contactable via e-mail for complaints, repair or compliments. Like I said earlier, this man takes pride in his products!

Overall Rating : 10
The CC2 was my dream pedal made true. Yes, it is a pricey botique pedal nad YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! The Provibes only competitors are the original Univibe (who want s to take that on stage) Deja Vibe, Sweet Sound and Mayers unit. But you also get the most musical sounding Octavia and flexible great sounding Fuzz I ahve ever heard for the same price as any one of those pedals. Do the Math. The CC2 is a great buy!

I have been playing for 25 years. Started out with Ozzy, Black Sabbath Kiss and then got the ZZ Top, Rush and Yes bug (weird mix, I know). But after hearing EJ, SRV and ARC Angels I was forever converted. Now I still play covers along with originals, but I always infuse my style into the song and not try to be the guitarist on the song. Gotta be me

I don't really know what to add that has not been said already about this effect I will give you my own impressions of it and hopefully hep someone out. I am a recreational player and we get together once or twice a week to practice, so with that in mind here we go...I found this pedal (really a 3 in 1 ) very easy to get a nice sound out of. Although I was glad it came with a manual for the different uses and suggested settings and the like. I am going to knock off 1 point here, and not give it a 10, for the simple fact that it is not dumb easy, but does require some investigation and thought to really getting it working properly

Sound Quality : 10
I am using a single ended amp from Siegmund Guitars, A Midnight Special, a Tokai Stratocaster copy, and a Tokai LS85Q. This pedal is not noisy at all and all the effects are briliant. I have heard others having a difficult time getting good sounds out of the Octavia, and Initially I was one of them, until I spent about an hour or two fine tuning things, (playing style, settings, etc) until I heard some good sounds, and when I did, my eyes literally bugged out of my head in disbelief. I could not believe it was me playing. This pedal is phenominal to say the least. I like The Who, Hendrix, et all, and I had always wondered what people had meant by getting a particular sound out of their set ups, until it happened to me using this pedal. I was making sounds I had only previously heard on recordings. I was amazed.

Reliability : 9
I have only been using the pedal about a month now and in only five or six practice sessions playing with others. It has held up well, and I am very happy with it. we had our second live gig ever ( don't laugh) and I did something I would not normally have done, and brought it with me to use live after only having used it a few times, and it held up well. my only problem was with the power supply that had to be plugged in, this was a bit of a bother, but we got on well the whole night. I used it without a backup, not that I had much choice, and it held up well.

Customer Support : 10
I have asked many questions of Analog Man (Mike Pierra) and he answers quite fast and I am impressed by this, as I imagine he gets a hefty amount of your garden Variety emails everyday, and he takes the tme to answer them. I am convinced, I would be well taken care of despite the circumstance.

Overall Rating : 10
We play your basic garage rock and most things from the 60's?70's meat and potatoes rock and roll. I have been playing since I was 16, off and on and by no means would consider myself a gigging musician. I am a 30 something year old guy with a day job and a penchant for reliving my youthful days by getting together with a few friends and doing something we enjoy, that is playing music. I feel very fortunate to be able to have the means to purchase something so nice, and admittedly, feel spoiled now by having such a great pedal. I am now limiting myself to purchasing my effects from Analog Man because I have been through the Gammut on buying and selling things, and this is the real deal for me. I love it and will pass this one on to my children, if they wanted it. I think it is a bit pricey initially, but in the long run, I believe it will end up saving you in because it is built well and sounds gorgeous and you can really get a variety of sounds out of it. I don't know if I can mention other products in here, but I will. I also bought a Jekyll & Hyde OD at the same time, and it is but a mere shadow compared to the CC2. I really don't understand what all the hype is surrounding the Jekyll & Hyde. I chose the CC2 based on an interview, with the Tone Quest magazine and am happy I did. As I wrote in a letter to Mike at Analog Man, I haven't had a smile this big on my face since my "lucky" prom night. I stand by that comment every time I plug in and warm up now.
