I think with just a little knowledge of effects you can get a really good sound out of it. It definitely helps to read the manual, and you have to remember that past 70% the volume control is adding gain.

I'm using a Gibson Nighthawk with the two mini-humbuckers, dunlop p.o.s. wah (nice and dirty), CC2, analog man dyna/ross, ts9/808, akai headrush into a peavey classic 30 with telefunken 12at7's in the preamp. Hugely underrated amp. Anyway, it is almost completely silent, it would be great for recording. You can get a LOT of really good sounds out of this box, if you spend a little time with the knobs. All the effects sound better than I thought they would. Totally worth the money. I didn't really understand the value of the Octave until I kicked it in while doing the standard blues bend where you fret the two highest strings on the same fret and bend the third string with your ring finger--WHOA THERE, my cool bend dissolved into ring modulated anarchy, and my head fell back and my mouth opened up, you know what I mean. Awesome. Really inspires me to play differently.

Built like a brick shithouse, nice and heavy. About $100 a pound. The jacks are very high quality, the knobs have just the right amount of resistance that screams, "high quality."

This pedal is very easy to use and get great sounds out of considering it is three pedals in one, and has a bunch of knobs, footswitches ect. If you have never used these effects before(especially octave)I would recommend a good look at the very well done and easy to understand manual and it will be a breeze.

I have been playing rock, jazz, fusion for 30+ years(!?) and played on the road with many bands. I now play part time but practice like crazy. My set up is currently:Strat or SG> Tu2 tuner>Teese Picture Wah(if you like classic wah sound and can afford it,order one of these along with a CC2 as soon as you're done reading this review!)>CC2>Maxon OD808>Guyatone VT3>Maxon PT999>Maxon AD80>Koch Multitone amp. The CC2 is exactly what it claims to be-a great octave, fuzz and vibe unit- and more. I have had mine for a couple of weeks and I find more sounds everyday. With a good tube amp it is killer. It is also one of the best values out there. I paid more for my other univibe(which doesn't even compare to this one-I sold it)and octavia(good but this is better) then I did for the CC2. The kicker is the Fuzz is awsome too!Very versital. And it takes up less space on my board then the other univibe and octave. With my current rig I think I am getting the best sound I have ever had-period.I used to listen to music and say to myself- "I can play that- I wish I could get that SOUND!". Now I can get just about any sound I can think of. Yes it is great for Hendrix,Trower,Kenny Wayne Sheppard, but it is so much more.

Fairly straightforward. A lot of different knobs to tweak and check out. You definitely would want to spend some time getting familiar with the controls and what each one does and how it affects the overall sound of the various effects. Extremely comprehensive manual comes with the CC2 and explains everything that you would need to know and I don?t mean a brushing over each section, I mean an extremely in depth look into each of the effects, how to get the best sounds from them and all kinds of other goodies.
It?s cool to spend time with the various patching capabilities also. Just a fun box to play and experiment with!

The CC2 is a wonderful tool to achieving some classic tones as well as new sounds. It pretty much covers the Hendrix thing extremely well. (Which is pretty much what is was designed to do)
I play through Blackface Fender Amps and a 1955 Tweed Deluxe. The fuzz sounds incredible all by itself through the tweed amp. With the Blackface amps you may want to use an overdrive pedal after the fuzz to get your amp overdriving a little. Dave Fox gave me this hint and it really worked well. If you play a blackface really loud you may not need to do this, but a clean and bright amp will get kind of a buzzy fuzz sound. That is pretty much the case with most fuzzes. They just like to be infront of a darker, overdriven amp, like a Marshall or a Tweed Fender. The fuzz straight into a Tweed Deluxe just is flat out awesome!!!!! Smooth and rich to in your face and mean. Bright, dark, it?s all there waiting to be tweaked.
The trick to getting great fuzz sounds through a blackface fender is to run a Modded TS9/808 after it. Set the Drive to 0, the tone half way up and the volume to whatever suits you. Kick this baby on and strap in for some extremely creamy and smooth fuzz sounds. I guess any good overdrive would deliver similar results. My CC2 has the hybrid Silicon/Germanium Fuzz card (Default) So I can grab anything from slight fuzz sounds to over the top extremely high gain fuzz. The grit control gives you a lot of different tonal capabilities and I prefer the Grit to be at 50% or lower. Higher starts to get farty, which is cool but the most musical settings are from the previously mentioned settings. This sucker is LOUD! You can really get a substantial volume boost with this baby so be careful not to blow up your speakers when you first try it 
The Octave is also wonderful. My fav setting to get the Octave really leaping out is to set the drive to 0 and the volume at about 75%. Turn on the neck pickup and roll the tone knob down almost to 0 for a dark sound and the Octaves just leap out at you. So Warm and I thought Octaves were supposed to be harsh and strange and hard to deal with. This one is super simple and sounds fat! Run this octave through a cranked amp and cranked TS808 and this thing screams. Blue on Black, Purple haze, whatever you want. Add a little delay and it is one of the most enjoyable effects I have played with. Pushing the drive up on this can yield some high gain to even downright nasally, nasty fuzz sounds on its own. I like running 0 drive to an overdrive pedal a little more than to a fuzz.
The Provibe is very rich sounding. I have it running after my Fuzz and my TS9/808. There is a sweet spot on the Center control at around 40% that the fuzz sounds super sweet through the Provibe. Running an overdrive through this allows more versatile Center settings. For some reason 40% with the fuzz works best for me. Turning the Center past 50% with just the fuzz can get buzzy through my Super Reverb. Fuzz/Overdrive and Provibe can get some extremely lush sounds. Trower is in there, Hendrix is in there. The Center control is very versatile and playing with the width setting can yield a lot of different results. Some cool leslie-ish sounds playing with higher speed settings. LUSH is my best adjective to describe the Pro Vibe!
Just so you know, these effects are extremely quiet. And, with true bypass it doesn?t color your tone when off. Regulated Power supply allows consistency in tone even if you are gigging with crappy, unclean wall Power.

This thing is housed in one of the strongest cases I have ever seen. This thing is heavy, the washers are extremely high quality. The knobs, pots, bypass switches are all top notch. The soldering inside is perfect. Everything is just exactly as it should be. Hi Quality Reann ? inch jacks. The CC2 is a work of art. I don?t think you would ever need a backup and I just don?t think you could break this thing, even if you were really trying. EXTREMELY road worthy! The only thing that might need replacing some day is the wall wart. I always break those for some reason. Could not be built better!

If you've ever used any analog pedals before, it will be like you're plugging into an old friend, knob wise. However, if you still don't get it, Dave ships them out with a very nicely done, in its own binder, instruction manual that will answer all of your questions.

Ok, let me preface this by giving you a little history. I'm 28 years old, I've been playing since I was 15. I started playing in bars when I was 16. I played in country bands, stage band (standards, big band era stuff) studied jazz and classical, pop bands, rock bands, hard rock (alice N' chains type stuff) and my latest, and favorite, a blues/blues rock band. I've been through all kind of equipment, good and bad. I've talked a lot of shit about stuff I didnt even know what I was talking about, as the young often do.Too often times when a more knowledgeable person, older perhaps, had been playing longer definatly, would offer me advice, or try to suggest that perhaps I didn't have the best tone I could have, I would get defensive, and take the opposite side of the argument, just to try to show I knew something. I didn't. And it was obvious to everyone who DID have an idea too. I should be lucky. Some people play all of their lives, and never develop an ear. Some will say "So you're saying your ear is better then so and so's.." Well... to be blunt, yes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I've been doing this long enough to know good tone and bad tone, and how each works/doesn't work in a proffessional (ie out of the garage, basement, practice room, talent show) setting. I don't believe in making noise, for the sake of making noise. If you do, more power to ya! Have fun not getting paid to play anytime soon, unless you're one of a select lucky few.
The CC2 is not about making noise. It is a professional (ie working) musicians tone machine. It will not give you groovy beat box/ scratch effects. It will not give you scooped mid death tones. It will not give you tons of lucious delay, sent to your ideal 4-6 speaker setup in different locations on stage all the while only one is mic'ed...
What will it do, you may ask? Allow me to tell you. Tone. pure and simple, it is impossible to get a bad sound out of this box. I brought it to 3 practices, with my strats and Marshall JCM 800 2204 head w/ a 2x 12 enclosure (solid back). I was amazed. However, I held my tounge on these boards, because I know, like myself, there are some splendid, demanding musicians on here that would take me to task. My original plan was to not use it to play out with. The wall wart, as any wall wart device, is a pain in the ass, on stage. I don't have a pedal board and a power supply yet (end of February *fingers crossed*) so I was going to leave my Cc2 at home until I got it, along with my as yet untouched (well, one 5 hour sesion at home with it ) Akai Headrush. Another wallwart device.
However, after 3 practices, 2 2 hour, and 1 6 hour practice to be exact, I couldn't see playing without this baby. So I decided to "suck it up" and bring it to my new years gig, wart and all. I'm glad I did. The only difference with my live rig vs my practice gig, is I use a Fender BF Super Reverb.. usualy with the volume on 6 ;) . Lets go one at a time...
The Octave part is phenominal. I've owned and used (something borrowed.. something blue.. etc) several of these type devices. You really sound like a tard with one unless you know what you're doing. It took a while for me to learn. I know this is an odd word to use for an octave pedal, but it was very warm sounding. Almost organic. It gives some really nice over tones, and cuts right through, all without causing an ear to bleed. Best Octavia clone I've ever heard, period.
Fuzz Foot. Wow. I am inexperienced with fuzzs.. at least, in getting a good sound out of one. I've played through a Big Muff, Fulltone 69, Several Fuzz Face reissues, and owned the little red MXR style Jimi Hendrix Fuzz unit and a Cesar Diaz Fuzz. Of those, the Diaz put them all to shame. The Fuzz foot scared my cesar so bad it still won't come out from under the bed. The Cesars big selling point to me was how well it cleaned up when you turn the guitar volume down. I wasnt too impressed once I owned one (please note, I

I wish I could give it higher then a 10. Dave answered everyone of my questions thoughtfully and insightfully, and treated me like a rock star (which Im not, by any means.) When I first started contacting him about the CC2, I had just lost my job, and was up front with him about it.. that it could be a while before I could actually afford it. At that point, he could have washed his hands of me, and said "I need to deal with my customers who have money.. talk to ya later!" and I would have thought no less of him for it, since I understand that this is how he makes his living, and it is a business. He won't be able to write off "Darians intentions to buy a CC2" on his 2002 taxes. :) However, he didn't wash his hands of me, and in fact, as I've said before, bent over backwards to help me out. He is a true class act.

Fender Standard Strat w/Lyndy Fralin blues + bassplate pickups, CC2, Teese Picture Wah (the best there ever was), Rivera Quiana Studio 100watt head, k2X12 cabinet w/ vintage 30s, EH Memory Man (modified for true bypass by Mike Piera) in the loop. Hendrix, Trower, Vaughn, and whatever this unit is the best I've ever dreamt of. I haven't written about it before because I was too busy enjoying it. I'm sure this accounts for the low number of write-ups. The fuzz is superb just as it comes and gives you all options you could want to change the sound. The vibe is very pronounced and articulate. It has an ECS switch which will automatically adjust the speed function in relation to the intensity of your pick attack (really kool and usable). The octave is just excellent but the most difficult to master: I try to use the neck pickup on 8 with 0 tone. This is "Blue on Black" all the way. This unit is a great value for the money.

I am using a Fender American standard strat or ultra strat with lace sensor with the unit. Both work well and the unit is quiet my setup Wah - cc2- boss tu2- ibanez fl9- realtube to a fender concert II I also build the speed control for the unit from a old wah it is very cool, The vibe rule and if you are thinking of getting a univibe save your money and get the CC2 Think of it this way 199 for univibe 80 for speed pedal 280 for 120 more you get two more great effects a excellent Fuzz and killer octave effect plus a power supply for the unit. The is a must for trhe Hendrix fan and for the non Hendrix fan this pedal is by far the best effect I ever have owned. 399 is a lot of money unit you get the unit and play it and you will have no regrets.

If it were stolen I would sell off some other shit I got on Ebay and get one no doubt.

My setup is Warr Artist 8-string guitar-Vision Wah-Capt Coconut- Black Box UV2 for different distortion tones-SWR amp. The Vibe sound is great over the entire range of the Warr, from a bass B well into the range of guitar, both combined with the fuzz and as a clean effect. I get that great liquid sound, think Gov't Mule on Thorazine Shuffle, Pink Floyd, etc. The fuzz does the job over the entire range as well. Combined with the wah, the tone is just outstanding. I'm still trying to find a use for the octave pedal, but I'll discover one soon.

I play all kinds of stuff, from rock to a bit 'o jazz. Mostly I'm in a rock and roll covers band in Sapporo, Japan. The CC2 is a great match for the stuff we play. I mainly fulfill the bass duties, so I'll be using the effects sparingly. As I've said before the 'vibe blows anything else I've either heard or tried away. The fuzz really makes my wah sing, so I'm a happy little rocker. The main thing I love about it is that the CC2 sounds great over the entire range of my Warr. Finding good effects for a guitar with this kind of tonal range is no picnic, the Blackbox Ultraviolet 2 is the only other one that really does the trick. If this pedal were lost or stolen I would get another one in a heartbeat.

Each of the 3 effects has knobs that are not common to the original versions. this is for several reasons listed on the Foxrox website but they are all quite useful. Sometimes complexity is worth the reward. I read through the manual from cover to cover in an effort to understand and master each of the effects. And let me tell you that the reward is well worth the wait.

I would like to preface this review of Sound Quality by saying that everyone has seen bogus reviews for less than execptable items. I hate to give anything a 10 but I have to say that I am truly impressed with this unit. Aside from what most people consider a lofty price tag, the tone is really amazing.
I run any one of these guitars:
Gibson SG EDS-1275
USA Strat Deluxe
G&L Comanche
Epiphone Casino VT
through (in this order):
CC2 > Mesa Boogie V-Twin > Ibanez/analogman Ts-9/808 mod > Full Drive 2
Into either:
Fender Deluxe Reverb 2
Fender Blues Deville
The CC2 works with any of these pedals beautifully. Everyday I find a more and more interesting tonal possibilities with other units or other settings. The clones are directly accurate and furthermore built with small modifications in an effort to have more tonal stability than the originals. It does the Hendrix, Tower, Vaugn thing beautifully but it does not stop there. I have found tones not possible with other clones/originals. The flexibilty is why I give the CC2 a 10.
