On the outside you only have a mixer for Direst-Signal, Octave DOWN-Signal and Octave UP-Signal - very simple! The tonecontrols are on the circuit board. You can adjust Octave DOWN tone, Octave UP drive (from clean octave to fuzz), Octave UP tone (high cut) and a switch for two different Octave UP sounds (A is more harsh and B is smoother).

Sound Quality : 10
Amazing! I??m a Fuzz- and Octave-Freak and own a lot of those kinds, but the Octron is a class of it??s own. I??ve set it so that the Octave UP is very clean and smooth, so I can combine it with any Fuzz or Overdrive pedal. The Octave DOWM alone sounds a bit too muddy to me, but with a little touch of the Direct-Signal it is very cool. The tracking is perfect and works very well with any Pickup of my Strat.
Try a compressor before the Octron!
To make it short: THIS IS THE RIFF MACHINE!!

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank! Massive folded Steel enclosure and powder coated like we know it from Fulltone - this will last forever. The PCB is professional and carries only high quality audio parts. Foxrox as we know it.

Customer Support : 9
Dave is a nice guy, but very busy, too. So it takes time to reply to customer questions.

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal is a MUST HAVE if you like these kind of Octave-tones. You can combine it with all your drive/fuzz-pedals and you will experience tons of new killer-tones! I love it!

Excellent octave up / down effect! This pedal flat out rocks. Dead quiet, true bypass. It tracks perfectly. It doesn't sound thin. Very cool...

Simple, three knobs, One for the volume of each control 1. octave up 2. direct ND 3. octave down.

Sound Quality : 9
This is the first item I have put in a review for. The sound quality is very organic in my opinion. It is an all analog pedal which I believe is the culprit for its warm sound. To me, it sounds some where between an old hammond organ and an old analog synth when using all three controls together (up-2:00 Down-5:00 Direct-11:00) my standard setting. Running this thing into a NYC Big Muff RI amplified by a fender hot rod 1x12, is something that needs to be expierienced live. I use this trick live and people are amazed that they are watching a two piece and not a band w/ more members.

It seems to me the big competitor would be a micro pog, but they are totaly diffrent sounds. The pog is digital and sounds more sterile to me. The octron is a very musical pedal, not at all random or nasty. The only posible complaint would be that it will not track chords using the octave down effect. Chords work fine w/ the octave up setting for me though.

Reliability : 10
Can't say i had, or expect to have problem...

Owned for a half a year or so.

Never needed...

Lost or stolen I would get another in a heartbeat. This pedal is at the core of my "sound." It's not an effect that I would use continualy but on a solo or riff, it just sounds awsome. It's an extreme effect and as a general rule of thumb I use extreme effects sparingly and subtle effects liberaly.

This is the easiest octave machine I ever had. Only three knobs but a plentitude of sounds. That's the way to do it!! Other than the Fulltone, that also has three knobs but only one sound. Also the octron has some iteresting dials inside. Eat your hart out.

Sound Quality : 10
Use it with Marshall plexi's or ptp Fender Vibrolux. The sounds are gorgeous. TRhe possiblity to mix direct and effected sounds is very welcome. That misses on other octavers, where you have the all or nothing option. With this mixing possiblity you can customise it totally. Don't forget the your sound differs a lot between playing loud live or quitly at home. No problem with this octaver.
It tracks great. The octave down is like playing bass with a very rough edge. My bass player was smiling when I dsemonstrated it. The octave up is better than any octaver I ever used; not too fuzzy and the amount is totally under your control. The combination of up and down brings In a gadda di vida alive! Psychedelic times: here we come. You can also get old (!)MXR Blue box sounds.Very, very loveable piece of equipment. Will sell my Fulltone UO.
Play Jimi and other classic rock songs in asemi-professional classic rock band.

Reliability : No Opinion
Have it only for a month. Have also a Foxrox silicon fuzz for a year with no problems.

Dave is a great designer and a nice person to deal with.

Overall Rating : 10
The best octaver I know. Play for 30 years now and use the best of gear. I'm spoiled. Even more with this Octron. And for the price it is a steal.
Bought it via Analog Man, the nicest guy in the business.

This could not be simpler. One for the octave up, one for te mix between direct and effect sound and one for octave down. Between the octavers that I used (both Fulltone's) this is the simplest.
The manual is good.

Sound Quality : 10
I am a spoiled man conserning my gear. Have old Marshalls and Fenders and only "boutique" effects. Play mainly Gibson's and one strat. I love to play classic rock and specially Jimmi H. Love the octave sound.
The octron can do the octave up totally magnificient and what I found on the Octron, and missed with the Fulltone is the possibility to dial in the amount of octave. The Fulltone's are not bad but more a all or nothing thing. The octave down is just a cruel thing. You are a dinosaur with it!

Reliability : No Opinion
This is my second Foxrox efect and have not encountered any problem. They are extremely well build. But I must admit that I own the Octron just one month.

Customer Support : 9
Have had very good experiences with the man.

Overall Rating : 10
The best octaver on the market and the most well thought through. The mixing possibility between direct and effected sound is just so obvious and I don't understand that Dave is the only manifacturer I know of that understands this.

Very easy to use. There are a lot of options with this pedal. Octave up knob, octave down knob, and a direct signal knob. The octave down section really tracks well and sounds big and beefy. The octave up part is fuzzy and sounds like an octavia. There are some internal trimmers that can dial in how much fuzz is on the upper octave, and one for dialing in the sub-octave. With this pedal you can play single notes on the guitar that sound huge! especially when it's run into a decent fuzz/distortion box....

Sound Quality : 10
Love the sound of this pedal. It big and warm and just plain sweet. No noise that I have detected. Play it through a fender twin and it can rumble the rafters off the house!

Reliability : 10
All foxrox pedals are built like tanks - absolutely dependable. I also own the ZIM, another amazing pedal.

Customer Support : 10
Great support - dave is a great guy who takes the time to answer emails and all manner of crazy questions. As busy as he must be, it's nice to have a person behind the gear.

Overall Rating : 10
I play surfy-creepy music. I got this pedal instead of buying a baritone guitar for when I want it to sound really dark and heavy. This pedal fits the bill - it plays well with my other pedals, doesn't take up much real estate on my pedal board and feels and looks rock solid. I wish it had a footswitch for each octave part, but that's nitpicking - it's another excellent creation from foxrox!! totally happy with this - oh yah!

Quite frankly, if you can't make the Octron sound good, you're an idiot.

Sound Quality : 10
Warmoth Jaguar --> Foxrox Octron --> Subdecay Blackstar --> Visual Sound Jekyll&Hyde --> AnalogMan Clone Chorus --> BOSS Giga Delay --> MuRF --> EQ --> Mesa/Boogie Studio .22 Preamp --> Fender HRD 4x10

Believe the hype. All the seeming hyperbole about singing cello/violin/woodwind type tone with tracking tighter than a busty girl's sweater is, to borrow the industry term, dead-on balls accurate. The tone oozes out of my rig.

Not a hint of noise that I can detect which isn't more the fault of the dirtboxes I run the Octron through. Pair it with a Tubescreamer type overdrive and your low strings will growl, middle strings will sing and high strings will yowl and scream.

I've played a Warmoth Jaguar (EADGBE), a Fender Toronado (standard) and an Ibanez Jet King II (E standard, C standard and open C) into this setup and all sound magnificent with the Octron. Its warm analog beauty goes unmatched by anything I have otherwise tried.

I'll echo the earlier statement that this is not the octave pedal to be doing Rage Against the Machine or CKY riffs with; it's simply much too fluid/liquid a tone, where those bands' sounds demand a splatty sound that the Octron is simply incapable of making. But there's no way in hell I would ever take a Boss pedal over this one. Whole different ballgame.

Reliability : 9
One notch down from an old telephone with regards to how easy it would be to bash someone's face in with one.

My only gripe is the somewhat unwieldy way in which the plate comes off when unscrewed, but some people might not even bother to mess with the internal trim pots or battery clip anyway.

Customer Support : 10
Individual attention and made in America by someone who clearly knows what he's doing. I got mine through AnalogMan (authorized Foxrox dealer), who also make quality stuff, and have a reputation for some of the best customer service ever. They answer emails sent at 9am WITHIN THE HOUR THEY ARE RECEIVED. Tell me the last time BOSS did that, so I can call you a liar.

Definite thumbs up here.

Overall Rating : 10
My style of music is heavy alternative rock. The Receiving End of Sirens, Smashing Pumpkins, My Vitriol, Nirvana, more experimental stuff.

I've been playing 7 years and this is my favorite pedal that I've played in that time. I would buy it again in a heartbeat, and it's sure bet that if production on these ever stops for some reason, you'll see them going for absolutely nutcase ridiculous prices on eBay in the coming years. It is quite simply an inspiring piece of gear.

Very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
If you use a lot of gain on the amp this pedal will add some noise if you set the upper octave past the 1 o'clock area on the dial. However, the noise is very moderate and easy to deal with in the end. This pedal is so mush organic than other octave pedals. I have tried them all, too.

Reliability : 10
Like a TANK! I think this pedal will outlive my grandchildren and they have yet to be born.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not needed it yet. Although I have heard great things about Dave.

Overall Rating : 10
Great sounds. The only that tracks better is the EH/POG and it does not sound as organic and it costs twice as much.

Three dials, easy. Although this thing really does work better with the neck pickup, and it really does work better before dirt. I can only compare this to my Boss OC-3. I found the boss to be a bit more compromising in terms of placement and pickup selection, didn't make it sound any better though --->

Sound Quality : 9
Using a les paul shaped thing into a marshall combo. This pedal does sound awesome, but it's not the Octave sound I was expecting (despite hearing a bunch of clips). Again, compared to the OC-3, this pedal has a slightly softer, more synthesised sound to it, and because you can't really run it after dirt, you can't get the full bass response out of it unless you play clean.

It really is a sweet sound though. The upper octave rings out fine like a spiders thread. It's almost like controlled feedback, because it doesn't always come in right away. I don't think this is a pedal for thrashing out RATM or CKY style riffs though. I just don't think it has the balls in that area. But other than that, this pedal is a keeper, and has knocked my OC-3 off the board. Like a lot of boutique gear, this pedal requires that you know how to play with it. I use it for lower octaving my riffs and stuff, but i love using the upper octave for solos. It's a very original sound and people that know nothing about guitars have commented on it.

Oh yeah, tracking, it tracks much better than my OC-3, although you really do need to use the neck pickup and run the pedal before dirt. But it's worth it.

Reliability : 9
Very solid construction. I worry about doing damage to it more than I worry about it breaking on it's own.

Customer Support : 10
No idea, hopefully I'll never have to find out. But the customer service up until I received it was spot on.

Overall Rating : 9
I play in a 1 guitar band so an octave sound really helps to fatten things out. This pedal blew me away, and it works with all my other pedals (slightly annoying I can't really put it after dirt, but no worries). I love putting all the dials up then running into a leslie simulator and doing some finger tapping. Sounds obscure I know but it's a stunning sound, very un-guitar-like.

I'd only recommend this pedal if you're really into your octaving. It's a fair bit of money for something that may not be to everyones tastes/abilities. On the other hand I can imagine anyone spending hours playing with it. It really is a beautiful sound, almost like an extension of the guitar itself, which isn't something you can say about most pedals. Forgive me for not giving perfect tens, but nothing is perfect!

Nobody needs a manual for this thing. It makes good sounding music easy and that's what all great pedals do.

Sound Quality : 9
I bought this because my MuTron Octave Divider was stolen. Up until I played this pedal I thought the MuTron was the top of the octave pedal pile but this unit tracks better and has at least as full a sound. I give this a nine only because all octave pedals sound somewhat artificial compared to the original note. Still, this is the best around.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've had it a few months and in that time it has gone with me on 11 gigs at one of which it had a full beer spilled on it. It works flawlessly.

Customer Support : 10
Up until I dealt with him personally, I had heard that Dave was hard to get along with. I couldn't disagree more. My personal experience is that he bent over backwards to get me a pedal ASAP and did everything in his power to make me happy. I doesn't get better than that.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 25 years and have been around the block more than once. Like lots of people say, I will only give a pedal a spot on my pedalboard if it is the best of the best. This pedal has a permanent spot. Now if I could only find an OD pedal that was worthy.....
