Not the easiest pedal in the world, but with the selection of stellar sounds within this blue beast, who cares. Took me a couple of days to figure it out and I still get new sounds out of it almost everyday. The online help section is terrific and the online settings are also great, check 'em out.

Sound Quality : 9
The effects go from extremly radical to hardly even noticible, and as long as you use a good distortion pedal in front of it, you're golden. You can get more than just through zero effects with this also. In stereo the pedal is simply nuts, I can hardly explain it. The envelope control is very responsive to individuals playing, so take time dialing this one in, and the expression control is what I have always wanted in a flanger and more. I have noticed a small amount of noise in the distant background but disapeers while playing, not a big deal but is the one negative point on the pedal. Other than that, this is quite possibly the coolest and best sounding pedal I have ever bought or played through. This is defintely a keeper.

Reliability : 10
I think this thing will always work unless it is treated extremly poorly by the owner or sabotaged by other jealous guitarists who do not own a TZF of thier own. Definely gig without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
I first e-mailed Dave Fox about some ?'s I had and he e-mailed me back promptly including his office phone #. I called to speak with him and he was very friendly and helpful telling me all I needed to know, a very nice man indeed. I wish that all pedal makers were of his caliber.

Overall Rating : 10
I play rock, hard rock, whatever moves me, and this pedal is the shit man. This is the flanger of all flangers, the deserted island flanger, whatever it is, I love this thing and I shall always own at least one. If anybody wants to get rid of theirs tell me.

It took a couple of days to figure out how to get all the sounds I wanted. It?s different from what I?m accustomed to. But I?m not complaining. It was fun discovering all the different flanging sounds this pedal can make.

Sound Quality : 10
A very warm analog flanger, with an amazing twist. The through zero effect is stunning. I never thought I?d be able to get the sounds that Jimi got on Midnight, Axis, House burning down, but this box delivers. I have a pretty complex rack system, some Rocktron stuff with a Bradshaw switching system. I have a vintage Song Bird Tri stereo Chorus Splitter unit, and there?s a definite similarity between it and the TZF. But the TZF delivers MORE of what I want! I keep the TZF on a pedal shelf, and I run a remote expression pedal plugged into the Manual jack. It gets along well with the rest of my stuff. I really like the ?Negative TZF? selection. The Foxrox sound clips sold me on this pedal, and now it?s an integral part of my sound.

Reliability : 10
Like another guy said, it?s built like a brick sh*t house. That was my initial impression took it out of the box. I?m not worried about problems. And if I did have a problem, I?m sure Dave would be all over it instantly.

Customer Support : 10
Dave is a good guy. I see him post in the HC forum all the time. This is a guy who?s easily accessible.

Overall Rating : 10
If it was stolen, I?d cancel all performances and work overtime as a fry cook too earn enough money to replace it! Seriously.. this flanger is the only modulation effect I?ve added to my rig in about five years. It makes a great though zero flanger, regular flanger, chorus, Leslie sim, you name it. I love it.

If you have some kind of knowledge on how to operate a flanger, you will have lots of fun with this unit. The owners manual is very brief, but a good base to get you going...

Sound Quality : 10
Sound is second to none. Period. I still use my AD/A flanger in my pedal board, I did not purchase the TZF to replace the AD/A, just another cool modulation device to add to the floor. Gear chain as follows, Gtr> (pdl brd) T2 tuner> Ts-9> Clyde> ultraVibe> TZF> AD/A> FullDrive 2> DSL 50watt> chandler stereo delay in the loop. You have to get both expression pedals! One for manual, the other for speed. Both pedals transforms the TZF into a multiple expression tool at a foots whim. Sound of TZF nails all sounds that lurk in my mellon.

Reliability : 10
I hated to do this, but, I had to remove the rubber nubs on the bottom to mount flush on my pedal board. Revealing the most beautiful work inside. Built like a brick house.

Customer Support : 10
Dave is great, Plays well with others. We need more "Daves" out there who understands a musicians needs and wants.

Overall Rating : 10
If stolen, I would be unforgiving, replace it, then find the individual who would of done such a thing and then.... You just not compare the TZF to anything else, because there is nothing else out there like it. To call it a "flanger" is unjust. Yes, it can flange, and it can do alot more as well. I love it, makes me giddy. Nails all the tones in my head that needs to be expressed.

Jesus, i'm not wasting my time describing all the details to you when you could read about it yourself on the FoxRox website. There is really not bad sound in this dream machine. The only bad sound is probably the bad playing and the tzf will cover that up too. That is just the begining i'm telling ya moo. Soon we will reveal ourselves, soon we have our revenge. Ugh..anyway... yeah there is a manual; it's located at the Foxrox website. Read it. Everyone needs to go through boot camp to use this thing. That means no women allowed. Just you and your TZF in the same room with 9 other men and their TZFs. It is hard at first. But soon you will cuddle with your TZF without feeling all embarrassed. That's right, sleep with it and take it along on dates. Use it as a pillow. The transistors will electrophorese into you head and soon you will know every detail of your flange. I give this a 5 because i had to go through boot camp to use this damn thing.

Sound Quality : 10
This blue monster is jet propulsion system. It's unlike any flanger i've seen. I'm not even sure if it's a flanger really. There are just too many knobs to turn. You get your normal flange, you positive flange, negative flange, flange in cancellation, leslies, chorus, phasiness, pitch shifting weirdness, a little vibe.... then when you plug in your expression pedal, you have to multiply the plethora of sounds already available by about 10. You throw your favorite fuzz in front, mutiply by 10 again. I got a boss sd-1overdriver up front. The tzf eats it up and spits out some narly vibes. I get to hear F-15's flying over the room all day long if I want to. So there i was chewing on some cheap tijuanan grass, the jets swoop down out of no where and shot my ass. I ran so hard, i lactated. Damn invisible american jets, can you just go attack Iraq and let me to my weed. Shit man.. cows need respect too.

Reliability : 10
You obvious have never heard of FoxRox. Just try to drop it on your foot and watch the developing ulcerated lesion. The TZF will be in one piece.

Customer Support : 10
After a couple of emails and a phone conversation, Dave Fox made me into an instant TZF fighter pilot expert. Dave is the man!

Overall Rating : 10
Must i tell you how kick-ass this thing is again. You play it and it's like having ejection seats. After a couple of riffs and i say hello to you from 10 feet up. Yeah, and this complements the captain coconut perfectly well. It's a happy marriage i'm telling you moo and they look good together too. I've been playing for 10 years. If someone stole my TZF, i would have to go sell milk on the streets of Hollywood again. God knows how many osteoporotic women will want me.

If you can read you can use the Paradox. The payoff here is that great sounds come easy and even greater sounds come with some work. A lot of guys just want to plug in and sound like their favorite guitarist and this category gets abused because of it. Just look at the manual and place the knobs where they are on the manual to start with. Now go on and turn some knobs and use your ears and you be the judge. A first grader can do it.

Sound Quality : 10
I took it straight out of the box into the studio and recorded a tune called "Space Gumby". I used a Lone Star Stat and a Tele Deluxe through a '57 Champ Amp and a Siegmund Midnight Special in stereo. It blew the engineer and other musician's away. Everything was first take. Sounds were amazing and this particular project was with some really wild musician's who idealize Aliester Crowley. Needless to say I am the hired guitarist for the rest of the project. This is the best sounding Leslie, chorus, flanger I have ever heard. It nails Hendrix's House Burning Down and I mean "nails it". Not like Fulltone's Choralflange that claims to but never comes close.I have owned them all. For this project I used a Menatone KOB and Jersey Girl Fulltender OD in front of it to push it (recommended). I also dud some lead tracks with a Maxon AD80 and the Hot Silicon Fuzz card from Dave's CC2 (mind blowing) But I also like the clean sounds as well. This thing nails Hendrix, Gilmour, Black Hole Sun, etc... I am one happy camper. I'll never use anything else unless Dave tops this. Yes, get the Foxrox Expression pedal as well, it gives you more flexibility.

Reliability : 10
Yes, I would say you can. I'd use it live without a back up. Why not?

Customer Support : 10
The 10 says it all. Dave Fox is great to deal with!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I play and study all styles of music. It's a good match for me because I would use this on a jazz or country gig just because no one else would. I have been playing for 25 years. I own a Bruno Cowtipper 45 a custom built Fender Twin called an Evil, a '64 Showman 1X12 and a newer Fender Twin Amp, an Epiphone Electar (Django Reinhardt), a '57 Fender Champ Amp. Strats, Tele's an ES-335, Teese RD/RMC3, Picture Wah, Captain Coconut. Just ordered a Jersey Girl Keekruder Disturber. Ebow, Roland Re-201 Space Echo, a bunch of other things to numerous to mention. I started selling all my other effects when I bought the CC2 and now with the Paradox I have unloaded a bunch more. The tones I get with Foxrox toyz blow away any I had gotten before. In fact my tone is more rich and thicker than ever. Can't wait for more of Dave's inventions. The guy knows tone like I do. I use to own the full Fulltone and Lovetone lines all of Diaz's. A Klon. Screw all those, I like to be more creative than that. These effects are for those who want to move beyond the normal. Not just for the SRV and Hendrix clones although it will handle that remarkably similiarly.

This is a stupid category for a pedal.

Sound Quality : 9
Guitars: Danelectro 59 DC pro, Heritage 535
Amp: Bogner Shiva
Other Effects: Teese Pic Wah, Maxon Delay, some other crap

Distortion sounds better in front of this (like Dave Fox points out).

It is not noisy, it reeks of quality. slight volume boost when engaged.

Reliability : No Opinion
New, it is solidly built.

Customer Support : 9
Dave is cool. Although he spends too much time on effects forums and not enough time making pedals. hahaha

High quality stuff from a very decent guy.

Overall Rating : 10
First of all you MUST use the expression pedal to get the fun sounds. It is kind of cool to control the flange sweep with the expression pedal. The Envelope control is cool too. You can have the attack/volume dictate the location of the sweep.

Okay you can get Chorus, "regular" flanger, the TZF flange (with pedal), fantastic leslie sim. It is very versatile. I have a better leslie sound, than the example dave uses. The leslie sample has the ENV at min. I add some envelope control, it sound more like a leslie. With a real leslie the volume and attack of the notes make changes in the sound coming from the unit.

I have played a Choral Flange (Hi FI, but weak sounding), Lovetone ? Flanger (Hi Fi, weak sounding, obnoxious self oscilation, ultimately unusable square or triangle wave).

This pedal is what I imagined a "Boutique" flanger to be. It's not enough to be HI FI, or to be "wild", I was looking for a sound I have not heard before. The TZF provides those sounds.

I was lucky to find one used, as I was late on the waiting list.

You can get good sounds out of this thing straight out of the box. The truely mind-blowing sounds come with a bit of tweaking as well as some reading of the manual.

Sound Quality : 10
I use either a Warr 8-string or a Warr 12 string tapping guitar into a Clyde wah, a CC2, Tube Screamer, into the TZF going into an SWR Workingman 10. The setup sounds great. I can get some very "out there" tones going with this effect.

Reliability : No Opinion
Had it a week. It's built like a tank, though. I'd gig without backup in a second.

Customer Support : 10
Dave has the best customer support in the buisness. He always responds to emails and he's always helpful and friendly.

Overall Rating : 10
I play everything from old blues tunes to King Crimson. This pedal is good for a lot of the songs I do. Used in small doses it really stands out and gets people's attention. The coolest thing about this pedal is that you can control eitther the speed or the sweep with expression pedals. This is where the TZF stands head and shoulders above the other flangers out there. If lost or stolen I would either track down the perp and commit acts of violence, or calmly order another one.

Let me just say one thing: You can get a lot of good sounds for this thing but it does take a couple of hours to really get accustomed to the way things react to one another. Manual is pretty descriptive, not as much and the CC2, but that thing was like a book. I think it would have been nice for it to have a little history about early tape flanging, but I'm not complaining.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a Epiphone Les Paul custom and a Fender 70's reissue strat into my board which consists of: RMC-3 wah w/ retrofit, DOD FX-25B, Micro Synth, CC2 into a Egnater TOL100 halfstack with an EQ, the TZF and a Line 6 DL-4 Delay modeler in the effects loop. The sound quality of this produst is absolutely beautiful it's what I've always wanted out of a Flanger pedal, but I've never been stuck with one happily because everything else that I've used had too much Regen or went from a little depth to too much too fast...all the controls have smooth travel. All i gotta say is I played a couple licks when i first got it out and knew I would like it better in the effects loop, once I did that, I played "Are You Gonna Go My Way: by you know who and was REALLY impressed.

Reliability : No Opinion
I could depend on it by my past experience with the CC2, very reliable I suppose. But, since I've only had it 3 days, I of course can't give an opinion. BUt let's just say, I don't expect anything to go wrong...knock on wood.

Customer Support : 10
Dave Fox is one of the greatest in this area...of course right now the poor guy is up to his ears so his return time on emails will be a little slower until he can get everything completely under control.

Overall Rating : 10
To make this short and sweet, I couldn't be happier.

OK. Its isnt hard but it does require some tweaking but thats the cool part about it, It has many many sounds you never heard before! Its only knobs so I give it a ten for not having dip switches and so on

Sound Quality : 10
Some of you know me well so you know I dont bullshit!

There is no effect I ever heard that is better. It is in a class by itself! Flanger sounds like tape machines and leslie/flange like tones that spin your head. Although it isnt a leslie it will replace any need for a chours pedal as after this pedal you will never want to hear a chours pedal again. I hate to call it a flanger because there has never been a pedal like this. Anything from queen keep yourself alive to hendrix house burning down to new sounds you never had. It has negitive and postive TZF knob that takes you to both extremes. The tone is all analog and it acually sounds better if you leave it on all the time thats how good your guitar sounds. It has my favorite feauture called envelope and man it is scary! It also has a stereo out although I like mono and slaved amps setups. In stereo it really sounds stereo so a ten to Dave for that. It is not a boss pedal or a line 6 pedal and anyone who makes a copy will never get the sound as good as this. Dave uses $$$ parts! It is a pedal built by a guy who loves what he does and isnt a corporate machine. Try it out and you will find yourself saying what the hell was anyone thinking in flanger pedals before. Makes them all sound fake. Dave is acually bringing something new to the table instead of a copy od something. Hat's off for creating a design that is this good! Its about time someone did something new.

QUIET AS WELL.

Reliability : 10
This thing will last a long time. No worries there. I have prototpye #5 right now and its going to be in my collection forever as its a one of a kind. The one I get as a back up will have the TZF switch on it so I dont have to reah down to change. Other than that its the same thing

Customer Support : 10
If there was an 11 he would get it. Not a problem here!

Overall Rating : 10
Forget about it!!! Its the real deal. It acually compares like this: Say out of every analog delay pedal made even the best not one could ever sound like a tape echo no matter how good. This thing sounds and has more controll over real tape flange than tape? Awesome!

My next cd due out in December or January will feature this to the extreme. Namm shoe attendes will hear it when I am at the EMG booth. It should turn heads
