3 simple knobs:
Volume
Sustain
Fuzz
and a toggle switch:
Octave- for the octave fuzz ( I was a little disappointed because I heard that the designer of this pedal was so young when he created this circuit, that he misspelled octave, as: octive. I was hoping Foxx would keep the original spelling for nostaglia sake-oh well...)
Regardless, the pedal is very flexible, giving you a wide array of sounds with ease.

I don't need to emphasize how much this pedal RIPS! You can get a nice beefy big muff-esque type fuzz to a distortion that buzzes like a chainsaw!
I would suggest using this pedal w/ a tube/hybrid type amp. I've played this pedal out of a Fender Deville (2x12), Music Man HD150, and a Fender deluxe 85. The pedal sounded awesome through the deville and the music man. However the the solid state fender made the distortion sound a little too "tin-ey".
The is octave feature is just too sweet for words. Anyone who picks one of these up must try this configuration:
Use the Foxx in the octave fuzz mode along side an MXR blue box (another octave fuzz that drops the signal 2 octaves down as oppose to the Foxx that rasies it up an octave) I thought maybe the 2 opposing forces might rip a hole in the universe or something but instead it created an ultra-unique (almost synthy?)type sound perfect for that solo that'll make the crowd go o.O

I dig the fuzzy covering that comes standard on the pedal (I got the green one) however it may prove a little difficult to upkeep such a novel cosmetic addition (I already have a small gash on the side of it revealing the metal chassis... :-\) Nonetheless, the pedal seems very sturdy and so far has not given me any problems.

Now I discovered something...not too long before I wrote my review on the mighty foxx r.i. I heard a noise inside. It was kind of obvious that the battery came loose out of its clamp.
Well this is actually what I thought and since I kept the unit in the pedal board I didn't rush to place the battery back. But when I did it was so dissapointing to learn that the cheap department also participated in the build of this pedal.
It turned out that the batterry did'nt came off the clamp...the clamp came off from were it was fixated because...it was fixated with only a double sided glue tape or product to the aluminum housing!
Furthermore, the fact that the whole thing came off also pulled a bit the circuit board which it is also fixated only with some alike product (not a tape in this case but some rubber thing, same purpose).
Worth to say the unit has been at my place only so far, has not been gigged nor exposed to any harsh movements, rough use, abuse or paradigms alike.
So be very careful with this pedal, it is not properly designed internally to take heavy road/live tasks and survive. If your act implies to bring the stage down to pieces where actually you'll find youself kicking or battering the pedals because of your antics forget about it. This thing will come off just with the transportation/road activities.
So my emergency action was to get rid of the battery and the now useless clamp, attach one of my Godlike adaptors to the battery connector and run the unit with the pedal board power supply. I assume this will help to keep the circuit board from falling off the rubber glue thing...s**t...

As stated I'm very keen on the sound of the pedal,I simply love it and it is now a very important part of my pedalboard but it is so dissapointing that they went for double side glue tapes or products as a solution to affix the circuit board and the battery clamp to the alumimun case.
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand, given the nature of aluminum, that it is just unrealistic or, to say the least, they didn't came up with the right product for the concept.
Maybe they had to rush into production and they overlooked this. Don't know but not being a cheap pedal I was expecting better.
Also I do not think these glue things will stand for too long hot environments... you know some rehearsal rooms, stages and outdoor climates can really dry up the glue...

Excellent box, but don't pay any attention to the Jimi Hendrix sound some tie this stomp box to. Is a totally different animal in my opinion. It is far more accurate to think in NIN and Beck's Devil's Haircut...if you want a textural reference.
And the finishing is a velvet one! mine is purple, I guess Prince will get one with pronto priority just to keep it going, what a glam surprise this finish was.
Has three knobs: Volume, Sustain, Fuzz Mello/Brite and one two way selector to activate the Octave/Sustain feature.
Volume, serious thing, first advice: start to dial from zero, this thing boosts volume big time.
Sustain, like inthe Big Muff this one drives the fuzz/distortion amount.I use it all the way!
Octve/Sustain, by flicking this you add a synthetized one octave up sound to your signal that is actually very evident from the twelve fret onwards (higher notes).
Fuzz Mellow/Brite, is the actual tone of the box, can go from very dull to very tinny sounding and a nice range in between. If all the way , treble is of hurting quality.

Just depends on what you are looking for. To me is a blessing. I used it with a Fender Hot Rod 4x10 just awesome. Plugged into my Pearce G1, dry and sharp. It delivers a texture that I'm very happy with and it is not that noisy at all.
I was initially expecting a warm vintage a la tubey sound but I couldn't be more happily wrong! Yes you can dial a good emulation but the mean distortion this baby puts out is reaaaally strong and real, without noise annoyance from anything that is not this dirty fuzz. And actually doesn't have too much sustain, I'm talking about those pedals whose motto is sustain for days. In this aspect is closer to a Maestro Fuzz; this is one dry, mean and very heavy bastard and specially when activating the Octave it furnishes the best color I have for real heavy/industrial rythmic parts, I try it along with my modded OD1 to add a little bite and it sounded awesome. I was badly craving to get into the recording room. Very inspiring.
For soloing didn't work as I needed just on its own, but when combined with a sustainer, delay or something it cuts beautifully through.
The Octave is a bit too synthetic sounding on the upper register, still there is a lot you can experiment with. Reminds me of some Robert Fripp texture...
i give it a 9 because it stands on its own and I love it.

I play music that is open to use and actually needs to use a broad range of distortion color. This Foxx made it into the pedal board the very next day, is my best sounding pedal among the "dirties".
other distortions I own: modded DS1, modded OD1, Maestro Fuzz RI, russian Big Muff, ZVex Fuzz Factory and the amps. overdrives. I'm happy with all of them.
if stolen or lost, yes I will get me another one on the spot, is an essential option. Period. i've tried real other boutique products or highly priced vintage looking for this sound and this one is the one I kept.
