The ProDrive is a standard setup overdrive - Level, Gain and Tone. All three controls provide a lot of range. The Tone control is the most surprising. You can roll it all the way to the left and the pedal still sounds awesome! I've not played any other OD where you could do that. Roll it all teh way to the right and you get a really crisp, clear, almost Treble Boost type tone. Regardless of where you set the three controls the pedal sounds sweet. It also has four op-amp chips (two IC sockets with stacked chips in each). Toss in that it's mechanical true bypass and the features rock!

This is where the ProDrive separates from the crowd. With the four op-amp chips the OD is smooth as glass. You can ramp it up from "just over dirt" to the doorstep of "distortion". I've not heard this range of gain in any other OD. Not just that, but it's clear gain. Every note articulates. Chords, arpeggios, it all sings out as cleanly as you play it. That's a good thing - although it will expose playing deficiencies. Because of that, this pedal will make you a better player! It will also make you a better player because the tone is inspiring and you'll want to play more! I'm already looking forward to the next time I can plug in!

It's built like a tank. Rick (Franklin) hand wires every pedal and personally tests them to ensure they're fully functional.

Rick is awesome to work with. You won't have a problem with his products. But if you do, he'll square you away, no hassles.

After 26 years of playing I've finally stopped looking at gain pedals. I was on the tone hunt forever until I came across the ProDrive. The final stages of my quest begain with Rick's SD-1 mod and has concluded here. The only other gain pedal I will add to my board is Rick's distortion pedal when he releases it.
