I bought the hand-wired version, so there's just an input and output jack. It can't get any easier to use this pedal. Plug in and play!

Sound Quality : 9
I have played all 3 of my Burns Brian May models, my Les Paul Standard and my Big Apple Strat through the TBD. The pedal sent a breath of fresh air through my rig (Fender Hot Rod DeVille 2X12, Dunlop Gold Wah, array of Boss pedals, etc). The only downside I found is that although the pedal produces such a gorgeous amount of overdrive and sustain, it's too much for my clean channel - so, an on/off switch would have been a lovely bonus.

Reliability : 10
I'm sure that I could rely on this pedal for many years to come. It's built like a tank and there aren't any pieces that are exposed that would break.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had to contact the manufacturer but customer service through Sphere Sound in Rochester, NY has been amazing. If you're in the US - you get your money's worth just from the attention you receive as a customer.

So of course Brian May is my idol but I've learned a long time ago to find my own sound and not to try to emulate someone else's. Trying to copy Brian's tone is a difficult process I'm sure, unless yo have disposable income and can copy his rig - but, we all know Brian would sound like Brian no matter what he would be playing through, it's in his hands.

I play "classic rock" and blues. This pedal makes my guitar sing and I love it! I've been playing for almost 25 years and I feel like the Treble Booster Deluxe is the best purchase I've made. It's incredible. If you can afford the hand-wired version, you'll be amazed at what it does for you.

well it only has one knob and you plug it between the guitar and amp then turn it on full,(very easy) ha ha

Sound Quality : 10
well for my review im gonna use a burns b/m guitar custom strat with humbuckers fryer t/booster fryer mayhem and a vox ac 30tbx of course.
well with the strat first in line it still had a brian may sound but also a good rock tone i tried turning the volume down on the pedal and found a nice sweet spot it suited the humbuckers slightly better in my opinion and also cleaned up very well. When i plugged the burns in (which im not keen on because of the action and finish) it actualy sounded great and really captures the brian may tone, ifact it was like plugging in to a brian may emulator brill ,i tried playing some songs (none queen) at a re hersal van halen etc and everyone commented how it still sounded so brian may it was that distinct it has that boxy sound full of harmonics and great sustain that can develop into tuneful feedback (great fun)for my gigs i usually use the strat with a mashall dsl 50 as the songs i play are varied ,i will take this lot to a gigg sometime and play some queen as it has had a great reaction from other people. Anyway i know the other items i have used helped give the may tone but even if used with my other guitars straight into the ac30 they still sounded top notch also you can clean up using your guitar volume .

Reliability : No Opinion
I cant say as i have not had it long but you can tell just by looking at the pedal it has been professionlly made and top quility build..
it will prob get top marks but i cant really say due to the short time i have owned it

Customer Support : 10
This is the best bit and i know people have said mr fryer is a gentleman and how nice he is, its true ,i cant fault his customer service as its second to none ,i live in england (newcatsle)and the communication was great very helpful infact you wouldnt think he lived in australia. My pedals were delayd in there construction as i had orderd the treb boost and the mayhem so it took a few weeks to be sent i rec an e mail he said he would send me a gift and thanked me for my patience so im thinking mm will i get a brian may pick or something no not at all i rec a ringmaster trb booster free of charge now thats what i call customer support i have since thanked greg for his gift what else can you say...... deserves a 20 really...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar since 1979 i have lots of gear vintage and new esp fx pedals i orderd the the treble booster for its brian may connections i must say my pedal is the booster plus version it has has a fatter more sustained sound than the standard one .Im usualy very critical of guitar stuff i have fulltone gear and the likes and would not give them as high scores as i have with this they are still very good pedals but the fryer booster does what it says on the tin i own a guild brian may booster and its one dimensional compared to this def not as good.If you want the may tone or a good quality booster you cant go wrong i have been really honest and i know other people have given high scores, like i have said i got it for the may sound and for me its there so im happy ,i will try and revue the mayhem and the ringmaster fx sometime as they are very good esp the mayhem as its hard to run an ac30 at full volume and not get punched by the neighbours.....to much to say so check them out on www.brianmayworld.com

Almost impossible to get a bad-sound.

Only one input adjustable potentiometer, which acts to set the range of boost.

Most users leave this on full, then lower the boost by dropping the volume on the guitar. Because of this, the pedal can be bought as a special without the boost-pot, which is the way Brian has his versions of this pedal.

As this is a Treble-Booster, the user has to set the amp up correspondingly, using a clean setting which has low levels of treble as the starting point.

However, everybody will soon notice the sound is quite trebly naturally, and will compensate.

Hence, I give this a ....

Very Brian-May ish, so no surprise really.

Beautiful vintage distortion, when coupled with an AC30 on full, which can be easily controlled and varied by simply dropping the guitars volume.

Just the right amount of gain and eq, and so simple to get the right sound on every occasion.

It must be a.....

Hand made, in Australia by Greg, who has produced most of Brian's current touring rig.

This pedal is straight off the shelf, top notch reliability, so that Brian could order from Greg and immediately use it.

The Ultimate in Hand-made Boutique gear.

Greg is a wonderful caring human being, in a world of call-centres and answering machines, to have to ring him up and order personally over the phone is a refresing change.

He is famous amongst the Red-Special fans, of which there are few, and hence when you order from him, he immediately makes a mental reference of you. When you next call him, he knows who you are, what gear you are using, what you were last talking about buying.... Remarkable really!

The product arrived very promptly, very well packed, with a nice handwritten letter thanking me for the purchase...

Overall, again I must aware a....

Fanstastic product - so simple, but yet so good.

Makes you wonder what all this modelling/multieffects unit craze is about, when for a paltry sum really, you can get something this good.

An indespensible addtion to my rig.

The unit is very simple to use. It goes in line between your guitar and amp and has a Boost adjustment pot on it which increases the 'boost level' to the amplifier. On max boost the sound is overwhelming - my AC30 seemed to double it's amount of output while at the same time, having a massive mid boost added to it.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup at the moment is Les Paul guitar, Fryer Booster, Marshall Bluesbreaker II and then VOX AC30. I have found the Marshall pedal to be important as, it further increases the volume boost (not gain!! - VERY important!!) to the amp which means Brian tones at lower overall volumes (you wish to purchase Greg's Mayhem pedal). The sound IS very Brian May like even with my Les Paul guitar. I use both humbuckers together which give a thicker tone than just the bridge pickup. My rig now is VERY simple and easy to maintain. See reliability note below!!

Reliability : 10
I can easily depend on Gregs Booster unit as it is very simple and built sturdily. However, I have heard about the reliability of AC30 amps with these pedals and have had no problems yet BUT, have fitted the Harma STR EL84 power output valves which are digitally tested and the expensive Mullard GZ34 Rectifier valve. These seem to withstand the high output levels that Brians sound needs to happen!! I have been gigging the same amp for over a year now without fail. Good valves do consitute towards a good Brian May sound. You can get these from www.watfordvalves.com. My amp is very old (a 1964) and will be re-valved again very soon.

Customer Support : 10
Gregs support was again, outstanding. He provided me with detailed instructions and faxes and even sent me some sixpences to go with my new purchase.

Overall Rating : 10
I had been previously using a Dallas Rangemaster and Guild Boosters (LOL) and had good results with the Rangemaster albeit noisy ones!! The Guild units were just a joke - im my mind, Guild never really understood the principle of Brians tone, whereas, Greg has tried to match it AND improve upon it. I will be getting my Burns Brian May guitar soon (next few weeks) so cant wait for that!! I have played a Guild BHM01 through my rig and the sound was impressive but, I have to say that I was not overwhelmed with the Guild guitar, given that it cost it's owner #1800!! To sum up, there is only one way to drive an AC30 - VERY hard and with one of Gregs boosters - get one now!!!!

I have the Treble booster and the Mayhem.
Simple. Simple. Simple.

Sound Quality : 10
Guild BM pro, Strat w/Tri-Sonics, '67 SG jr. thru a tiny Marshall Lead 12. The sound was absolutely huge and the clarity amazing.

Reliability : 10
These things are built to last forever. Meticulous attention to detail
and quality. There no finer pedals that I have ever encountered.

Customer Support : 10
Greg Fryer is a gentleman. Great communication with me. Called me to follow up to make sure I was satisfied. I would do buisness with him again in a second.
I am thinking about getting The Ringmaster. I also bought some pots and knobs from him.

Overall Rating : 10
I wouldn't compare these pedals to any other similar type because there is nothing out there like these pedals. Notjing sounds as good as the Fryer's and nothing is built as good as the Fryer's.

Ease of Use : 10
The easiest thing ever. "In" and "out". Gain works best when turned up full. (You gotta unscrew 4 screws to change the battery - once a year maybe. That's the most "complicated" thing.) The manual is simple but there's not much to write about really.

Sound Quality : 10
Custom built Brian May modell with DiMarzios, Fryer Treble Booster, Cry Baby, BossGT3 (Vox preamp, chorus, delay, harmoniser), Vox- AC30/Laney-VC30. Minimum hiss and it always sounds great. This thing gives THAT BM-sound - the "big one" and the "clear one" as well.

Reliability : 10
Massive, the battery lasts really long. Used on many gigs. Absolutely no problems yet.

Customer Support : 10
Mr. Fryer is a really friendly man. His replies are fast /allthough he should better get a computer soon :-), e-mail would be far quicker and easier than fax. I think./ The whole costumer support of his is very very kind indeed. Delivery was as fast as possible.

Overall Rating : 10
For Brian May fans it's just THE ultimate thing. I just hope mine won't get stolen ever but I'd buy it anytime again. There's really nothing else that would make both the full blown (but still "clear") Brian-Overdrive AND those sparkling clean sounds possible by just playing with the volume knob on the guitar. Together with a tube amp it's simply fantastic and a MUST for all Brian May fanatics.

A simple device that includes only 1 dial to dial up the level of boost you desire.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup is custom Brian May guitar, Fryer Treble Booster, Fryer Mayhem Distortion, Boss CE 1 chorus, H & K Replex delay, into a Vox AC 30. One look at my rig and you can tell that I am going after a Brian May tone. This pedal gives my sound that extra boost and clarity that is inherent in Brian's sound. It is nice and quiet.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. No need for backup.

Customer Support : 10
Greg Fryer is a gentleman. He is very willing to answer all of my questions and has been a very big help to me in building my rig. I would not hesitate to recommend his pedals to anyone.

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal is absolutely necessary if you are trying to achieve a clear distortion tone. By reducing the bass tones, the sound is crystal clear and every note can be heard. I use this in line with a Fryer Mayhem distortion and the result is absolutely amazing.

I would replace this pedal in an instant.

This is an extremely simple box to use...just plug it in first in line of your effects rig, as it is designed to specifically feed off the tone controls and sound of your guitars pickups. One knob to turn, for most applications, the effect full on is best !

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality is fantastic !! If your looking for THE Brian May sound, here it is ! Used with my 57 strat and a Twin Reverb, the Treble Booster creates an amazing signal boost and trims the low end making the over all sound brighter, with a bit of Brian's edge, and out-of-this-world sustain. I run the strat through the Treble Booster then straight to a Proco Rat and a simple chorus pedal (all 3 on always) then a string of other effects...brightens everything in line !

Reliability : 10
I've not had any problems with this box, works off a nine volt battery, extremely low drain...ive had it for nearly a year and i dont think ive even replaced the battery ! This is from the same batch that went to Brian May, so Im sure its reliable enough for me !

Customer Support : 10
Customer support comes straight from the creator, the man, the myth: Greg Fryer ! Hes a extremely kind man, willing to hear any questions and give you an HONEST opinion and any advice possible ! Customer support was never needed...ive called to thank him tho! and have asked his opinion on using the Treble Booster with other pedals...and the help has been extraordinary!!

Overall Rating : 10
Overall ?? A work of art ! This pedal is amazing...the sustain created will enhance any style of music! I play in a rock band, and solo work with this box is amazing !! Time to spend with the notes, and make them all speak their fair share. I would definitly buy this pedal again were it stolen...i cant live with out it as it stands now! Im just saving to get the newest Greg Fryer pedal...the "Mayhem Pedal" !! This pedal is made to compliment the Treble Booster, while giving your amp a bit of that "full-on Vox tone" at lower "bedroom" settings ! Keep an eye out for Greg Fryer...the products are the highest quality anywhere !! Brian May would except nothing less, why should you !?
