Fulltone CF-1 Choralflange

Easy to use if you are familiar with how a chorus works. The delay control is where you are going to need to find the sweet spot.

It's very quiet, but yields a pretty sterile chorus sound. With a good clean amp sound (Bogner Shiva), it actually took something away as far as dimensionality. I actually prefer the my cheap DOD chorus pedal.

I've owned it for years, but barely use it, so I won't comment.

I e-mailed about a bad switch and was basically scolded for even e-mailing that there could be a problem with a Fulltone product. Haven't bought a Fulltone pedal since.

Overpriced run of the mill chorus. I'm actually planning on selling it, if I can find someone who wants it.

It's a chorus but takes some time to tweak the knobs and get the chorus sound you want although mediocre at best. The flanger I found to be weak and useless.

This chorus is very quiet but I found it to be thin and weak compared to other chorus pedals that cost much less. It is a very sterile sounding chorus, not warm and lush as some of the older analog stereo chorus pedals, like the MXR Stereo Chorus and EH Polychorus or Small Clone. It is supposed to be a clone of the Polychorus but falls short IMO. The flanger is not even as good as my old Boss BF-2 from the early 80's so it is useless. In addition, you are out of pocket $267 for a mediocre chorus/flanger.

Fulltone pedals are made very well, but just hope you never need a part from Fulltone to repair it. Don't hold your breath waiting to get that part, you will turn blue and either suffocate yourself or pass out. See Customer Support.

Customer support is non existant. Fuller is either computer e-mail illiterate or a complete *******. Either way, Fulltone products have NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. Fuller needs to get his head out of his own *** so he can see where he is going.

Overall the Fulltone Choralflange is mediocre and an expensive mediocre. Those that write great reviews about this pedal must feel obligated because they spent $267 on a chorus sound that they could have had for only $50 to $80 in a Boss CE-2, CE-3, etc...and a useless flanger. My old Electric Mistress Deluxe Flanger is 10 times better than this flanger. Even my Boss BF-2 is better.

It's easy to turn the knobs and flick the switches and it's not much more complicated than most flangers, certainly a little bit confusing if you are only used to a chorus pedal. It's certainly usable imediately unlike massive menu scrolling press this button and that button digital abortions.

Hmmm, it's difficult to answer without making it sound bad. The chorus sounds it makes are very clear and airy rather than thick and rich like a CE-1. THis isn't the most chewy sounding chorus and kind of lacks a distinct character of it's own, but still a very good chorus. As for flanging well it's pretty poor. This is really just a chorus pedal with a switch to change the fixed delay value making it much shorter like a flanger uses. It doesn't quite work because without having a resonance knob you are limited in what a flanger should be able to do. Maybe the new chorus/flange/vibrato will be better but I feel now that it won't be. I think this guy only makes things that are copies of other stuff. Mainly simple distortions and fuzz and basically this circuit is too complicated for him to make it work properly. If you want a flanger anything else would crap all over this. As far as chorus, well it makes chorus sounds, you can vary the delay time which makes it go from subtle to more noticibly detuned. I don't think it's bad, but it's overpriced for what it sounds like.


I have owned a lot of chorus pedals. If I had to name an alternative, it depends, but probably the Ibanez CS-5 (or Arion SFC-1) for a chorus and the Nady FL-10 for a Flanger. Sometimes it's not about how much things cost, it's how they sound. This doesn't sound good.

There was a website called Mike Fuller sucks but it's gone now. Basically it was being too kind.

It might be ok it you like having Fulltone written on your pedals and you have not owned many chorus pedals. As a flanger it's rubbish. As a chorus it's every bit as good as anything else that's analog.

This pedal is easy to get a good sound out of. Everything that comes out of it sounds great, even the "non-musical" sounds. I'm not going to confuse useability with depath of features here. It's one of those things that's easy to get into but difficult to master. Very important to read the manual and understand what all the settings do then run through the suggested settings to get a better feel for what each dial actually does. The manual is brilliant, this is my first Fulltone product and the manual for this is better than any other effects pedal manual I've ever owned - even the more details ones such as you get with TC electronic's pedals... It's easy to access the DIP switches and the battery compartment but I wouldn't reccommend using anything other than a regulated 9V DC adapter... I bought an American one so I couldn't use the Fulltone adapter that came with it but it slots nicely into the voodoo lab PP2 I bought today!

Sound quality, In one word, stellar. I'm not going to ramble on, this is simply THE modulation pedal.

I tried it in the effects loop before my delay pedal, where I would usually put modulation... That didn't seem to work well with the flanger. I've settled with it as the last thing in my instrument level effects chain. I don't use a distortion pedal, I use the amp's overdrive, but right in front of it I have a fuzzbox and it works very well with the Choralflange for certain sounds.

I can't comment as I haven't gigged with it yet.

Haven't had to use them but if anything did go wrong, given the fact they're based in the States, this is the US model, and I've heard some horror-stories about Fulltone's support department I'd probably take it to the guys at my local guitar shop.

I won't bore anyone by trying to describe the sound of my band but this pedal on certain settings in combination with another pedal are the secret ingredients in my personal sound.

This is one of those few pedals you can really pull something unique out of as well as replicating all the classic chorus, flanger, univibe and leslie sounds.

I wish it had separate dials for chorus and flange and a footwitch to choose between them... But I suspect that's just me being lazy

Very Easy to use.

This is where this pedal is kind of confusing. I liked it at first but got tired of the chorus rather quickly. It was a tad weak but also It was a bit too shimmery.
Same went for the flange.

It's not bad, it just doesn't really seem to have a voice of it's own...and I'm not talking transparency, I'm talking sweetness.
My old dod mini-chorus is way better sounding...I know that's probably not a fair comparison as the mini-chorus was one of the best ever made...but regardless..the price is high for the CF...although the box it's housed in is very pretty...nice paint job...looks cool.
The pedal is quiet.

fulltone does some nice pedals but I think Bob would have been wiser to just do a really sweet chorus, instead of a combo...just my opinion..

I did like the pedal at first but it got pulled from my rig within 2 weeks as it was not my cup of tea at all. Kind of cheesy sounding to me.
I suppose I am spoiled some as I've played the boss vintage stuff..old ibanez ..etc and they're hard to beat.

It would be nicer if it had a footswitch to go between chorus and flange..even though they sound a lot alike anywayz...

I'm confused by this one. Typically Rob fulltone does a great job and I think just a nice chorus would have been better.

Very simple pedal to use. Plug it in and go for it!

Great sounds abound in this pedal. The chorus and flange are world class.

I've owned 5 Fulltone pedals. This was the first one to die on me. First sign of death was a weaker signal output along with higher noise output.

This where things got dicey. I've read in forums that it takes a while for the fellas at Fulltone to respond to customers who need support. That proved true in my case as well. It's been over a year with a dead pedal and sending over 10 emails and no response....it's pretty discouraging to spend premium money for a boutique pedal and to get zero response when it dies.

I am full time player and have replaced all of my Fulltone pedals. I won't support a company who ditches me when I have supported them over the years.

OK- This is not an out of the box, plug in and play unit. It's a sophisticated device that deserves careful listening and adjusting to get your desired sound.
If you're going to pay this much dough for a modualtion pedal then why not take your time and get the best out of it?
The manual is excellent and the recommended settings truly gives optimal examples of what this machine can do.

My goal with this pedal was to be able to dial in 3 usable chorus/leslie sounds and make quick changes on stage.
I love the clean shimmery chorus sound EJ gets or the warble of Mike Stern and vibey sound of Robin Trower.
Can one pedal really get those? Well, after using a TCE Chorus/Flange, Fulltone DejaVibe, and VoodooLabs Micro Vibe, I can truly say the CF1 comes close to all the sounds I got with those units. I don't use chorus/modulation a lot, never use flanging but when you want those sounds this thing does them in top notch fashion.
I use it in a pedalboard setup into a Boogie MKIIB or Rivera Chubster with Gibson ES 335. I find there is slight noise at extreme settings but no more so than the above mentioned pedals.
I have not tried it in stereo mode yet but plan to soon. Has the neat option of switching from true bypass to buffered output- cool!

If it's anything like the rest of Fulltone products it should be pretty much bullet proof. I've had a few issues with their footswitches in the past which were taken care of (see below.)

I've read the various posts about Mike Fuller and Fulltone reliability/customer service. Here's my take- Back in 1998 I bought an FD2 for myself and Soul Bender for my son.
The Soul Bender has never had any problems and has survived stage torture from my son's alt rock band.
The FD2 had a faulty footswitch, I called, Mike Fuller personally took care of it, no charge (I paid shipping.) He was helpful and very courteous. A couple years later, one of the LED's stopped working which was traced to a short in one of the replaced footswtiches. I called, this time got a customer service guy who was very helpful and after I explained the problem, sent two new switches (Fulltone brand, just released at the time)at no charge.
I replaced the fauly one, no problems since.

I use the CF1 in a function/cover band so really comes in handy for replicating various guitar parts. Best of all are the Leslie type sounds I can get out of the CF1 when I play blues/jazz.
The four knob layout needs to be explored and pay attention as to how the controls interact with each other. These are the keys to getting the most out of it. I have mine set so with minimal knob changes I can quickly get 3 excellent sounds to cover my modulation needs. I would definitley replace it if lost or stolen.
My pedalboard setup goes: Keeley Compressor (2 knob,) Fulltone 10th anniversary FD2 Mosfet, older blue FD2, Barber DD & Small Fry,
Fulltone Choralflange, Boss D5, EH Holy Grail.
Bottom line- I've played through an old Roland Chorus Ensemble and owned an original EH Clone Theory. I think these are good examples of vintage chorus sound. The CF1 doesn't pretend to be an exact replica of a vintage unit, but for my 2 cents, those sounds are in it and with better circuitry and lower noise.
If you want a variety of high quality chorus/modulation sounds in pedal format, this is the best.

I agree with everyone who says this is not the easiest pedal to use. Most good pedals that aren't one-trick ponies need a fair bit of time in order to get the most out of them and this is certainly true of the CF-1. Someone who has never used a chorus or flanger before might struggle initially, but I guess most people buying this will already be modulation devotees so shouldn't find it too hard.

This is a difficult one and, I think, really depends on what your expectations are of what a good chorus/flnager should sound like.
For me, when I think of chorus, I think of early Police (in fact the same is true of flanging) so I was actually pretty disappointed with the sounds this unit produces.
To put it into context: over the last year or so I have owned a load of vintage and boutique choruses/flangers, as well as 2 different choralflanges, one from '05 and one from '06.
Compared with these other pedals the chorus is most definitely incredibly versatile, incredibly 'pro' sounding and very quiet. The flanging is pretty crap - nowhere near as deep or versatile enough as even the old Boss BF-2. As for the rotary-type sounds - they're OK, but nothing outstanding.
My main problem with the chorus is that is just isn't lush or warm enough. If you think you can get CE-1 tones out of the CF-1 you've obviously never played through a CE-1.
Finally, there was a significant difference between my two CF-1s, the later one being much more intense sounding than the other. I don't know whether this was due to circuit-differences, or inaccessible, internal controls being set differently, but it was pretty remarkable.

I've never got an e-mail reply from Fulltone, despite many attempts. This amounts to 'basically worthless'. I'm sure if Mike had replied I'd be giving him a high score, but I've got to be factual here.

It's undoubtedly a superb unit, and the chorus sounds, at least, are excellent, but they are not up to par if you are after warm, vintage, CE-1 tones.
The flanging should be much better - as it is I'd still need a separate flanger (I use a Maxon FL-9) for my needs.
Plus it's very expensive. I'd strongly recommend something like the Retro-Sonic chorus, Jacques Meistersinger or Maxon CS550 before buying one of these as they cheaper, but much nicer sounding choruses.

|Well this is a tricky question regarding the CF-1. There are a lot of parameters to turn BUT this is not really an advantage. First of all is the live situation. In the heat of the moment it is hard to think clearly and I found that all these knobs did not help. Some are very small witch is not good. Secondly: the parameters are different when using the flanger or the chorus. Not cool.
Thirdly: you can't change from chorus to flanger by footswitch from one to another: unbelievable!

The sound of the chorus is OK. Better than Boss cs. But it never really satisfied me and sounded still somewhat metallic to me. Then I could lay my hands on a Clone Chorus from Analog Man and voilla: everything was perfect. With just two knobs to turn loads of wonderfull and very different sounds. The leslie sim of the Clone is unbelievable! At last I could nail the intro of Dutch Rock icon Herman Brood on the song Saturday Night.
The flanger side of the CF-1 is dissapointing. I own a 1975 MXR vintage flanger wich beats the hell out of the CF. The MXR is spacious and has more diffrent sounds. The CF flanger is metallic.

Not really; it broke down under normal conditions (at home with Pedal Power). Well: could happen. What cannot be happening is the fact that I had to wait one half tear for some spare part (not) being send. Shame on Fulltone.

Play classic rock in professional band. Have boutique gear and vintage Marshalls and good Gibsons. Play for 30 years now.
I cannot give it a good rating, especially as it costs quite some money. Now I have a 150 euro MXR and a 150 euro second hand Clone Chorus and am a lot happier.
And now something else: the service from Music Toys sucks: slow delivery (two moths!), no answer on e-mail.

Yeah i am in love with this pedal. Before i say anything else i first want to say that before this and its ok to laugh i had a boss chorus ensemble. There is absolutly no comparison as you probably already know. The tones that come out of this thing are amazing its rich full for both chorus and flanging modes. I bought it cuz i primarily wanted just a good chorus but the flanger is awsome and ill see my self using that alot. Anyone that complains about this pedal on here is either the most picky dumbass or just hates the sound of a chorus and flanger pedals. try one

Overall ill have this pedal probably forever dont see a reason to need anything else. Sure now that i played it if anything were to happen to it id replace it as fast as i could.

The pedal is extremely versatile but A little bit more complicated than your average chorus or flange pedal but the flexibility of this pedal is amazing

The finest chorus and flanger I've ever heard in my life.........i pay my fender mustang + bk butler tube driver + tc electronics booster line driver distortion + fulltone choralflange + ibanez ad80 + '59 fender bassman ltd. I use chorus sparingly, so its most important feature is the buffered by-pass is totally transparent! When using chorus, the CF-1 (mono or stereo) is bright, full, rich and warm. i like also the flager......i've had the boss ce2 ( i like it too!!!!)but the choralflange i think it's better....

Best chorus in the world.............i love it....

Straight forward set up but not easy to get a good sound out of the unit because I don't think it has one to offer.

It should be renamed PussyFlange as the tones are weak. It is not noisy though and still better than any Major Brand name stuff Like Boss, etc. Those are a 1/10. I use it with other Fulltone pedals. Just not very inspiring to me. The Flanger is a joke. The problem I usually have with Flangers/Chorus type pedals is that they take over the tone and are therefore too much. Fulltone is excellent at not doing this and I generally think they get it right. However, I think they are just a bit too weak on this one. My least favorite Fulltone pedal except for maybe the first run Distortion Pro.

Fulltone uses quality componenets and the only trouble I have had with any of their pedals is sometimes when switching them on or off the signnal goes silent. I have to engage the switch on and off again to recover. I currently own all his stuff except the Bass stuff, limited editions, and the clean boost. The TTE is worth the grand too.

He must either suffer from shortman complex or be an only child. Maybe both as he his generally a standoffish jerk. He needs to get over it and smoke more weed or take a class on tolerance. Maybe he can't help it because he is so much smarted than the rest of us. I believe Hendrix would have been his polar opposite and probably would have laughed in his face.

I have been playing 27 years. I own mostly Gibsons and Fenders. Tube amps are my favorite. I prefer equipment that assist me in getting out of the way of the music. You can't control it or overthink it and it has taking me several years to realize it. Try Analogman's stuff too. He is a pleasure.

Very straight forward, considering its two effects in the one box, even if they are closely related aurally.
Good instruction manual, brief but to the point and helpful.

Usually an old strat into Ernie Ball volume, Blackstone Overdrive, Fulltone Fat Boost, Fulltone Choralflange, into Fulltone Tube Echo, into Voodoo Labs Amp Selector into Bad Cub 2 and Gibson Super Gold Tone.
Clearly I am admirer of Fulltone gear. This unit delivers a glorious chorus, as good as I ever heard, and all the flanger options I need.

Never had a reliability problem with Fulltone stuff. Its made tough, you pay for the quality, and they deliver.

Quick to reply to emails, passionate about their stuff, and they will work to help you get the best out of it. Variable approach to customer care - I advise you don't worry too much if you get them on a bad day, and just keep after the information you need.

Played a few, since the 70's, and this is the best.

The usability is reasonable. Why resonably: when going from chorus to flkanger in a concert you heed top adjust the parameters, which is almost impossible. Another thing is the fact that is had too much oparameters. Too much!!?? Well again during gigs I'm a little bit steaming and out of my head and still have problems to get a nice setting.

I play with only good stuff; Gibsons and hardwired Marshalls. My effects are all of the best quality. And I do suffer from the feared GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I play in a semiprofessional band in the Netherlands with 25 gigs a year. Style: mostly classic rock.
The sound of the chorus is with quite some tweaking good. The sound of the flanger is not. Comparison with my 1970's MXR is silly. The MXR is spatial and always has a good sound, no matter what parameters. The CF stays metallic, as with the MXR with the regeneration fully clockwise. Not impressive, esaecially for the price paid.

Broke down on me for no reasons after one year. Brought it to my dealer and had te wait ONE HALF YEAR. Why: the necessary components from Fulltone just did not come from overeas. Very dissapointing!! And not very strong in this price range. Have dealt with other boutique guys. Much more satisfying!

I find myself comfortable now with my lovely MXR flanger and I'm gonna sell my CF.

A manual is included with suggested settings I found helpful.
Small volume knob, mix,rate and depth knobs. Small switches for width, and to toggle between chorus and flange. Nice quiet footswitch for turning it on and off. Simple.

I use this in my loop with a Bogner Shiva next to a DLS Echotap. These are my 2 best pedals and they aren't going anywhere. NOT NOISY AT ALL!!
Big plus there. On the Chorus I usually run the depth about 1 o clock and the rate at about 9 O clock. This is NOT a warbly shimmery 80's chorus, but if you want it, it's in there. It just makes it BIG 3D SOUNDING, kinda like a Roland Jazz. This pedal is super-transparent. No unwanted frequencys or spikes. Works great for distortion as well. The flange is cool too, maybe not the best flange I've ever heard, but I actually only use it to get a slower, phaser like effect. My only complaint is the tiny volume knob that always seems to need a slight adjustment, other than that I havent heard a better pedal chorus, yet.

I do a my own little mix of everything. Mostly a rock guy though. I like cool effects, and so far this has been a keeper. If it were lost, I'd probably get a new one, although I have to say Maxon does make one thats almost as good. Hopefully I won't have to find out. I'd recommend this one. Fulltone makes a lot of cool pedals. I'll probably end up buying a OCD here before long. THAT PEDAL will be in the pedal history books. Fulltone makes stuff for guys who've been playing awhile, and they all seem to have just the right amount of features. I see them in Guitar Center now however, with nobody ever playing them. Instead I always see these kids over hacking on Boss and Digicrap pedals. Oh well, Guitar Center is for kids mostly, and kids can't afford these pedals. Keep it up Fulltone.

This pedal has many options so there are quite a few knobs and switches to work with. The manual is poorly designed but it is actually very helpful in getting you started.

One quick glance through the manual and I got a great sounding chorus right away.

Essentially easy to use but, due to ammount of features, will demand some attention before getting the sound you are after.

Nothing short of spectacular. Shimmering, multi-dimensional chorusing and thick, swirly flanging. The best chorus I've ever heard.

I usually run a Gibson LP>>Cry-Baby Wah>Fulltone OCD>>FD2 Mosfet>>OCD>>Digitech RP50>>Dunlop Univibe>>ChoralFlange>>stereo outs to Marshall, Soldano amps. The CF-1 is as noise-free as an analog chorus pedal can be.

I acn get anything from a SRV Cold Shot tone to David Gilmour and with a depth and lushness that is unbelievable.

I strongly recommend that anyone who tries the CF-1 tweaks it about to find the best sounds. While extreme setting are not present, you'll probably get any chorus sound you'd wish with this pedal.

I've traded a few emails with Fulltone and they were extremely helpful, fast and cordial.

I play classic rock along the lines of Cream, Zep, Hendrix, etc. and this pedal can do it all and makes your tone fantastic.I've been playing for over 20 years and the CF-1 is head and shoulders above all the others chrous pedals i have heard or owned, including Boss, Ibanez and DOD. perhaps the TC chorus could be in the same league.

I would buy another if this was stolen because the multidimensional, thick, warm sounds it produces make me sound much better.

This has a lot of options, and is not your usual 2-knob chorus. But if you spend some tweaking time, and learn the unit, you will be rewarded!

This is a total 10....I have owned two of these so far, and they are stellar. Most recently, I A/B'ed the Choralflange with a bunch of other chorus units. The CF-1 sounded better to me than any other chorus pedal! The only chorus that came close was the Maxon CS-505, but that unit doe snot have even HALF the flexibility of the CF-1. This is the best chorus I have ever used, hands down...Goes from an airy TC Electronic spatial type chorus, to Bill Frisell seasick type warbles, to flanging, wide, narrow, oh my!

Hmmm....I have read plenty of horror stories about this unit, but both of the ones I have owned have been flawless. NONE of my Fulltone pedals have ever broken down on me, ever. I take good care of my stuff, and keep it on a pedalboard in an ATA case, though...

Well, I have noticed that most boutique pedal manufacturers are a bit difficult to deal with. I have known Mike and have been using Fulltone pedals since 1995. He's never given me any problems...but....I don't call him, I don't bother him, and I have never had to send anything for repair.

For me, this is the ultimate pedal chorus unit. I do like the old Boss Dimension C as well...but the CF-1 does what I need it to do.

My pedalboard has been a work of trial and error, to see what REALLY sounds good, and what is just taking up space....

Currently, I am trying to use as few pedals as possible.

I give the CF-1 an honest, well earned "10" here. I am a chorus FANATIC, have owned them all at one time or another, and this is the best FOR ME....your mileage may vary :-)

Just get used to the dials and enjoy the many many tones available from this little box!

I play mostly strats and a guild Blues 90. THD Bi-valve amp w/ a solid pine open back cab loaded w/ 2 10" fane alnico speakers! My FX are a fulltone clyde, choralflange, and a hotcake! I was using a Fender Vibratone for my vibe / chorus. I replaced the Vibratone w/ this choralflange unit and I ilke it! I did try the dejavibe and find that this choralflange dose a better vibe / chorus than the dejavibe does! Save your money and just get this choralflange 1st!! Very quiet

When I 1st bought this from Guitr Center, it wouldn't power up when i got it home, nothing at all.. Then I brought it back and they gave ne another unit that worked fine. Lat time I talked to the saleman that I was dealing with, he said that the unit that we could not get going, was working now?? I do not know how relaible these are, kindof intermittent!?!?

Right off the bat, I dealt with reliability issues! Not a very good 1st impression!

Buy one, but make sure it works 1st as the manufacturer must have some QA and manufacturing repeteability problems!

I have owned Voodoo Lab Analog Ch, L6 Modulation Modeler, Boss CE-5 in the past. This effect is head and shoulders above all of those. I prefer a transparent shimmer which is no problem to get here. I can also get the exact same vintage chorus as the V Lab when I need it. The range switch is a great feature as it allows me to set up for my transparent sound and then get something deeper and more complex with the flip of a switch. Note the VL sounded very good, but much less versitile - no way to achieve a transparent sounding chorus. The VL always sounded "effected" and also produced a significant (undesired)boost which crunched up my clean sound. The Fulltone gives me everything that the VL did, plus more without the boost.

Seems well build. I depend on it w/o a backup.

I see that Mike has a bad rep in this category. I must say that he has been extremely responsive and helpful to me. People need to realize that a guy in that position must get hundreds of e mails every day. That is almost un-managable. Yet he always responds to me very quickly.

I have not had to have anything repaired, but would not hesitate to contact him if I did.

This is a quality company, which builds top quality effects.

This is the best Chorus pedal on the market, hands down. Nice Flange too, although that is not something I use a lot. I do like having the flexibility to use the flang if I want - w/o having to sacrifice any space on my board to carry it.

It take a little bit of experimataion...but it's worth it.

So far so good! Nicely built. Cool green finish. Like quality lab equipment of yester year. If it's esential to your sound...never gig with out back up. Rock gigs can be dangerous to equipment.

Very high rating. I've gone back to pedals rather than rack stuff. This is a very sweet pedal. A real keeper. Yes, I would replace it if it went missing. I've been playing for a long time...20+ yrs. Compared to other units out there that I have had/tried, it's just really sweet. A little pricey for some...but it's worth it. I play hard rock metal originals. This is perfect for what I do with clean tone...think "Pull Me Under" intro from Dream Theater...or Alex Lifeson clean kinda stuff. That's the tone I'm getting. It's deffinately deeper and richer than lesser units.

With so many configurable settings, the Choralflange is going to take a little time to grow familiar with. I wouldn't classify this as a usability issue though, since it's really just an embarassment of riches.

The one usability issue for me is that I have to adjust the volume knob whenever I adjust the mix knob, to keep the volume even. The difficulty is compounded because the volume knob is only about 2mm wide and has no dials/numbers.

With so many setttings, I wonder if there's ever been a chorus pedal which offered as many. Double your pleasure: this is also a flanger. Mix, depth, delay time, oscillation speed, wide/narrow (octave range), chorus/flanging: that's six tonal variations. Excepting the wide/narrow and chorus/flange toggles, the other settings cover a wide range of sounds, all of them wispy - even when they're oscillating.

My version, 2002 issue, is a weak on the low end. (I've had more luck in this regard with my Carl Martin Chorus x II.) I understand more recent issues have added headroom. If it sounds a little thin, it's always possibile to pull back on the mix and retain some of that original flavor.

I can't imagine why this wouldn't be dependable, outside of footswitches, which have a mind of their own. Mine's been ok for three years running.

Mike Fuller is a busy man, with a popular business and perhaps it's inevitable that he's curt. One of the nicer aspects of dealing with Mike is the five year warrantee, which is more than what most other people will offer.

I don't know of a stereo chorus pedal that has such tonal variation, with a lush chorus/flange from the discontinued Panasonic BBD bucket brigade chips. Perhaps something from Lovetone might have rivalled, but they've appreciated significantly. The list price for the Choralflange has actually depreciated in recent years. It's a bargain now.

I'd have to say that I've found this pedal to very easy to use. The manual has some good suggested starting points.

I'm using the Choral flange with a pair of Dr Z Maz 18 Jr's. I use Fulldrive 2, Supatrem, Clyde Wah, Frantone Brooklyn Overdrive and a Wasabi fwd/reverse delay. When I ues the Choral Flange it is usually in conjunction with the Trem for a Leslie sound. the output trim is a fantastic feature.

I love the sound of this pedal and I've been using it on tour (I play guitar w Steve Earle) for 4 years. The switch has broken 4 times. I have to get rid of it because I'm a professional and I can't use gear I can't count on. The switch that has been replaced is one of the "Upgraded ones". I keep my board in a flight case and it is handled with care. The switch is weak and can not be counted on.. (that is if you play over a hundred shows a year)

I paid retail for all of the Fullton products I own. When I contacted the company about the broken switch I was met with a ton of attitude... bad attitude. very offensive considering I am a paying professional customer. I really like the sound of this unit and all the other Fulltone stuff I own but I wish I had not contacted Fulltone. Kinda like how you don't want to meet Chuck Berry....

Now the thing has broken down on me again... I'm in Europe on tour and I have to find a stereo out chorus pedal that sounds great....

Loved the pedal but if you can't count on it its no good for the road..

The CF-1 offers enough options to keep one busy enough exploring the many possible (and often subtle) variations: narrow to wide; chorus to flange; mix, depth, delay time, and speed. The knobs are big enough to accommodate large fingers, the toggle switches are small enough to avoid accidental changes, and the recessed area where these controls are located are not in danger of being changed by ones foot when engaging the unit. There's even an overall level boost/cut, which is also unobtrusively planted near the mix knob. The pedal is heavy enough to remain planted on the floor but not so heavy to weigh down one's gig bag. In all, it's perfectly designed.

The chorus is crystal analog clear. I have a hard time nailing down its sound descriptively. Sometimes the choralflange seems to accentuate the higher frequencies, and other times it is deep, guttural, and soulful. The mix knob offers a very wide range of wet/dry spread, so depending on its setting, the overall effect corresponds accordingly. Some settings add an unobtrusive, crystal sheen whereas others dominate the sound. I've had some very musical moments with the speed setting set higher than your typical swoosh tones--usually backing a blue groove while keeping the chords interesting.

After checking out many choruses--digital, the coveted Boss CE-2, the Maxon CS-9, and the DOD 690--I've settled on Fulltone's CF-1. Part of me says I want something more, but when I play through it, I'm not sure why I still have this notion. It never disappoints, and if I spend enough time adjusting the settings, I'm nearly always able to find the sound or a close enough sound to the one I'm hearing in my head. It's not "murky," nor is it brash or brittle. The leslie effect is hard to obtain quickly, but it's in there. Maybe in terms of sheer variety, not every sound is in this unit, but the ones that are sound professional. Having explored many chorus pedals, I'm confident that the CF-1 cannot be replaced--complimented, maybe--but not replaced.

It has not failed me yet. The power supply accepts the wallwart shipped with the unit or one of my Godlyke power-all jacks. I've owned this unit for three months.

Mid-way through this endless quest for tone, I'm certain that the Fulltone CF-1 is a keeper. The flanger seems to work, but I'm not thrilled by it. I think I played the intro to Barracuda once with a chuckle, but after that, I keep it mostly set for chorusing.

Other units I consider would be worthy additions are the Foxrox flanger and Analogman's Clone chorus.

The CF-1 is transparent enough to work with other effecs: some with better results than others. I've paired it with phasers, wahs, and fuzzes with some success.

very easy, it ain't brain surgery. Find the Chorus tone you're looking for, then leave it alone. Repeat this procedure for the Flanger tones. Who actually needed the manual?

The chorus is exactly what I expect out of a chorus pedal. I know a lot of guitarists want the chorus to take over the tone, like a distortion pedal. I'm from the school of thought that says chorus should only enhance, not override the guitar's tone.
The flanger is an added bonus, but I didn't buy the pedal for this. It is a very mild flanger effect, which is fine. I don't want to pretend to sound like a jet engine anyway.

I had to take it back to the shop where i bought it to have the switch replaced. Mike Fuller replaced the switch with a heavy duty "upgrade', but that switch makes a loud 'click' noise when you step on it. Not a problem for live use, and only made a minor nuisance of itself in the studio during a live take. Seems dependable, though.

I know from e-mail responses that Mike is an overworked, blunt, customer service-challenged individual. He needs a hot blonde working the help desk, or a mandatory 2 week vacation, every three months. Not a big deal, just honor the warranty and take care of me if I have a problem with one of your expensive pedals, Mike. I don't need you to like me, just fix my stomp box if there's a problem!

It's a great chorus pedal for my ear, my needs, my tone. Been playing 25 years, play most styles but NOT metal, death metal, hate metal, shred, detuned nu-metal, punk, post punk, neo punk or country.

I give this a 7 because it's not a simple chorus/flange. It's just not rate and depth you have other fine tunings. You have to tinker a bit to get the sound that you want, the sound you want to cut through the mix of your recordings or band. However even before this you notice a difference, this unit is transparent. I liken it to a photoshop editor. It's powerful and you get out of it what you put into it.

Which segues right into the sound. Never is this unit noisy, it is clear and transparent. Other units on the market are like heavy cotton tights, the Choral Flange is silk stockings. I mainly compared this to my Roland Jazz Chorus since it was the best chorus I had, along with my ADA Flange. I like both of these units but the Jazz Chorus isn't as transparent or complex and the same goes for the ADA along with noise on the latter. I'm playing this through an Ampeg Jet. It's a nice little 15 watt amp and this chorus pedal sounds lovely through it, very dreamy. In the 70's a lot of acoustic guitars were saturated with modulation effects. If you desire a sound along the lines of the song "We just disagree" (Dave Mason I think), this will do it. I can see why it's also compared to Eric Johnson's sounds. Again not a cluttered sound it lets your guitars breath. I've used a Strat, ES-335, Les Paul, and Martin, as well as my voice. This is a fun unit takes you to a different zone.

Basedon what I've read about Fulltone, the company is run by a man who takes pride in his work. I've read many accounts of him fixing any problems. I've had this pedal for 6 month and no problem. I actually don't expect any based on his reputation and the build of the unit.

Yes well Mike was very helpful when I placed my order for 3 of his pedals. Considering how much demand their is for his units he was more than generous with his time. I would definately not hesitate if I had a question. I really believe he appreciates his customerbase. I believe that is the result of being a musician first business man second.

I've been playing for 17 years, I have my own style I guess. It allows me to cut through the mix. It's the 5 position switch Stratocaster of Pedals. It's as handy to a recording musician as a tape measure is to a carpenter. I installed a bug in the unit, if it were stolen I would simply track down the person bury them up to their neck in the sand by the sea shore at low tide. :)Value, you get what you paid for.

For me the thimg went really easy as I get my favourit chorus with everything on 12 O'Clock. However, there are many different sound available and to me the flanger is much more difficult to set for the sounds I like. The manual is O.K.

My Strat, Les Paul or Tele all sound good through it, no prob. The quality of the sound is actually clear and warm together. for this reason some people, especially those with a basic trebly tone may not like it. To me this is the most beautiful and versatile chorus pedal I have ever heard or played. It is definitely rich, full and detailed in the midrange, the bass are present but not exagerated and the highs are clear and shimmering. The perfect blend for me. It can be very subtle or in your face, as you like it. As for every fulltone product I have heard it sounds like a classic (or in this case many classics) but refined.

That is why I might sometimes look for a little more attitude, that is to say a less refined tone from an old, dark or grungy style pedal.

But dont be fooled this pedal can come close to the vintage trip, it is just that it is clearer and cleaner. and it can also do the deep 80's kind of sound.

The flanger is more difficult to set and until now I have not been fully satisfied with it. It is very sensitive to the guitar I use, it does like my strat but my Paul will get in trouble. It has a unique sound with an attitude that I suspect can be very interesting in some situation. I suspect it is a grower, and I might find its beauty later. However flange is not what I use most, when it come to modulation, I always prefered a good chorus or phaser. My rating is essentially for the chorus.

Many people find it silent but I can hear some hiss added when playing (the pedal is noise gated I guess). It can be annoying when I play some subtle parts without any other instrument involved. This is only an issue in the studio and in the aforementioned situation. Many other good chorus pedals will be noisier.

I play many different styles and this pedal has become the main workhorse for chorusy sounds. If it were stolen I would buy it again in no time. I even consider getting a spare one later as it has really become part of my sound.

I still own the SCF ftom TC, the L6 MM4, I previously had a roland and tried different Boss as well. The CF-1 IS definitely the very best so far.

The only drawback are the slightly annoying hiss (it is noisier thant the perefectly silent SCF to my ears) and the tricky flanger.

Due to the complexity and sounds which are achieved by manipulating the control knobs I would give this a low rating because it can get frustrating for someone who wants to plug in and play. The true point of this however, is the pedal has the ability to generate a wide range of tones and these tones come at a cost. You need to spend a lot of time moving one setting at a time, in small increments, and listen to the changes. I have a small card taped to the underside of the pedal that displays settings I have found useful.

The unit reminds me of Toneking amplifiers as it sounds very high fidelity. I like the sound of the unit but sometimes I think to myself, "Is there anything else out there with a little more soul". I don't use the flanger side at all and find those sounds to be lacking as I get an audible chirp from it. I use the unit with a battery since I am not a big fan of wall warts and extra cords. The unit seems very quiet and compared to the reissue electro harmonix pedal it's virtually noiseless. I do think I will look into the Tube Rotosphere just for comparison sake, but I generally do not use chorus effects that much, so I am in no real rush. Overall, this pedal does a lot of things very, very well I am just not sure if it does one thing excellent. The chorus rates a 9, but the flanger would have to be a 6.

Seems reliable but I don't have a lot of hours on it.

My overall rating would be a good product but I don't find myself saying, "I gotta bring the fulltone tonight" Most of the time I could take it or leave it. I usually play with just a good overdrive, analog delay and sometimes a wah, leaving all the other stuff in the closet. Maybe there is a chorus or leslie style pedal out there which will change my opinion, but the Fulltone hasn't been the one to do that for me. I do like the pedal and it does sound very good, but if I sold it I don't think I would be kicking myself six months later.

Like other Fulltone pedals I've owned and reviewed, there are a lot of knobs and swtiches present, so ease of use is sacrificed for versatility. Compared the my AnalogMan Clone Chorus, this thing is brain surgery. Still, there are a lot of great settings, so it's not hard to find usable tones, just hard to decide which ones to remember. Unlike those shown in other manufacturers' manuals, Fuller's suggested settings are excellent. Start there, and tweak as your ears see fit.

I used the CF-1 with a PRS Custom 22 (early 90s) running through a ton of boutique effects and then a Dr. Z MAZ-18. The unit is incredibly quiet, though I could hear background oscillation on higher Depth/Mix settings, especially in the Flanger mode.

This unit is extremely versatile--everything from Vintage CE-1 sounds and seasick warbling to the subtlest shimmer are available. Plus, you can choose the width of the effect's sweep (1 or 2 octaves), dial in as much or as little dry guitar signal as you want... really, you can customize the chorus to your heart's content.

Here's the problem. Maybe it's just my ears, or my particular rig, but no matter how I set up the CF-1, it always sounded bright and sort of "artificial." I have a pretty midrangey tone, and the PRS' bridge pickup is extremely dark-sounding, but whenever I switched on the CF-1 my tone had this bright, solid-state kind of sound that was completely different than my dry tone... Very strange. It wasn't drastic enough to be a defect, but I always noticed it. It was like there was this "layer" of effect over my guitar, instead of a natural "doubling" sound that I imagine chorus should sound like.

I bought an Analogman Clone Chorus just to see what the difference was between the two, and it is DRASTIC. The Clone preserves my original guitar sound... it truly sounds like a second "me" playing instead of an "effect." I would also characterize the CF-1 chorus as somewhat "80s sounding" a la the Police, while the Clone's sound is decidedly more vintage. This doesn't mean that one is better than the other, it just depends on your style and preference. For me, the Clone sounds better, and with only two knobs, I spend less time tweaking and more time playing. (I A/B'ed the two effects, and time after time, I found myself playing through the Clone, despite the CF-1's massive range of sounds.)

I can't imagine how you would damage this thing, short of explosives.

I'm not gonna rate this category. People have their opinions about Mike Fuller and i'll just avoid this debate altogether. I'm sure he wouldn't like me much, since I'm not handing out 10s like an Olympic judge with a bribe in his suit pocket.

So the CF-1 is a great pedal, certainly one of the best choruses on the market. But lately, I've been selling off a lot of my Fulltone gear, and the CF-1 has sailed on to a new home. As well-engineered as Mike's stuff is, I can't help feeling it's a little too "hi fi" sounding, and that he oftens sacrifices great tone for endless tweakability. I don't need a pedal with 10 knobs and switches on it. I just need something that sounds good every time I stomp on it. For me, the Clone is that pedal. For other people, perhaps the CF-1 will be the Holy Grail. I prefer the Clone because it's simple to operate, takes up less room on my pedalboard, and runs on a 9V battery (or Pedal Power-type supply). And the tone is pure 60s... earthy and rich and oceanic, with none of the icepick brightness of the CF-1.

If you use a ton of chorus, the CF-1 would be a good choice, due to its versatility. For my tastes, chorus is best used sparingly, and the Clone is the only way to go.

A lot of possible tones. Not hard to get decent sounds.

This unit is the last on my pedalboard. The flange is nice but on the subtle side (I don't use the flange much so I'll leave its review to the others). First off, you're not going to give you "roaring jet engine taking off over your head" type flanging from this pedal, but I don't mind that. The chorus can give you anything from a rich very warm thick chorus, to a very credible fast rotating Leslie (I sat one evening at a friend's house and compared it to a RotoSphere and a short Leslie cabinet). The thing I'm writing about right now is its ability to be so transparent and subtle that you don't really hear the chorusing, but can feel a slight shimmer at the edges. It's dead silent. Sounds good with the POD, a Fender Stage 112SE, a Boogie Mark 4, a Rolamd JC-120 (I know, I know), and with my acoustic rigs: Fender Acoustasonic jr; or a Rane Ap-13 into an SWR Blonde on Blonde powered cabinet.

While it works fine when placed before the distortion, to me it almost seems wasted in that position.

Had it for almost 3 years, no problems yet.

Mike's always been quick and to the point with his responses to me.

Play just about every style. If you need those etherial chords fading in with the volume knob or volume pedal. . .reverb. . .a touch of delay for a sense of space, I think this one is worth its weight in gold. Been playing over 27 years. Definitely would get another if lost or stolen. Very musical pedal.

I's easy to get a sound out of it. It's a guitar effects pedal. Were not talking about programming Robert Fripp's guitar set-up. The manual is ok. The manual says don't use any high output pickup's like humbuckers because it might overload the circuit. Boy, they were not kidding. This thing overloaded all over the place, even with the output trim knob turned all the way down. It "crackled" and "popped" all over the place.

I use a 1980 Les Paul custom Silverburst with Seymoure Duncan pickups and I plug it into a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. This pedal does not sound good. Don't buy it. The chorus sounds worse than a boss pedal. The flanger is one of the weakest flangers I have ever heard. I don't see what the fuss is about this guitar pedal. It sounds thin and stale. Not to mention the overloading, popping, and crackling.

It never broke on me, but it "popped" and "crackled" all the time. Piece of junk. It weighs less than a Boss pedal. It feels like a piece of tin foil in my hand. The switch feels pretty flimsy also.

Don't buy anything from this guy. A local music store I shop at has also warned me of the B.S. they have to deal with when carrying his Fulltone products. I have read other reviews and it is my opinion that he has one the worst customer service on the planet. I was really dissapointed.

I was really dissapointed by the whole experience with Fulltone and Mike Fuller. I have been playing for 25 years and I have toured openig for bands like King Crimson, The Swans, Faith No More, Tool, Nirvana, The Melvins, Janes Addiction, and Sonic Youth. I sold this pedal on e-bay six months after I bought it direct from Mike Fuller. I tried to get a good sound out of it, but it would always make everything sound horrible. If you want the best sounding chorus pedal on the planet, get an Electro-Harmonix Stereo Polychorus or an Electro-Harmonix Small Clone. All of Electro-Harmonix pedals made in the past year are true bypass now and they have great customer support. I wish Mike Fuller luck, but I don't think he has what it takes considering his horrible customer service and his pedals that cost 3-4 times more than other pedals that sound better than his.

I found this thing to be very easy in getting great Choral/Flange Sounds with. I also noticed a distinct difference in all of the settings like the "Vintage-Style Chorus"//Compared to the "Transparent Chorus". I was able to also sort of take it where I wanted. Mine is set up like a Vintage but I backed down on the "Mix" just a tad and backed off just a couple of marks on the Depth and it remained strong but also kind of Transparent. I haven't really used the Rotating "Leslie" Speaker setting much. I tried it once using only Mono output and it I could tell it would be very effective with the right Amp combinations. The Manual is quick and to the point and shows you all you need in about a couple of Minuets. It's more like about 5 or 6 pages of neatly printed paper work. Not a text book. Basicly, this thing is as easy to use as any Chorus Model I have used such as MXR,Boss,Ibanez and TC. I give it a 10 for being right to the point and direct.

I would like to share this part of this evaluation if I may my personal experiences here because I truly feel that all of us here have this in common. And that my friend's are some sort of Amp combinations. A couple of years ago I bought a Line6 POD[A rack mount type-not kidney],..for my computer to record and just track with. Yeah....just to track with on some recording software. What happened was after setting up the sounds via "deep edit Mode" [a line6 thing] and playing it through my computer, i was in shock when I went back to my Marshall JCM 800 50 watter with the boost channel with spring reverb and my Fender Prosonic all tube 60 watter along with my Laney Toni Iommi Signature series and my Peavey 5150 head I couldn't beleive it!! i didn't like em anymore!! "?"
What was happening with my beautiful Amp's that I kept covered and retubed myself and did Bios Adjustments in?? I was Freakin out!
So to make a long story short here and back to the Subject I evolved to Two Line6 Pod Pro's running through 2 "Mesa Boogie" PR-90 Simul-Class Power amps that literally Breathed Life into my PODs! Feedback N all! Running into 4 JCM 900 Cabinets in stereo. I have the Pod settings on ole "Marshall Plexi" 50 watter's with Greenback 30's for speaker settings.
Running through those JCM900 Cabinets. I am amazed at my tone and control I have. I sold all my tube heads to help pay for it and I still like the tube heads but I feel like I have the best of both worlds set up like this. Feedback/Tone/Control/Quiet at will....
The Choral/Flange CF-1 is dead quiet! If I step on my "69" or the Boost switch on my FD-2 by Fulltone and stop playing you can hear that gain boost cycling through the Chorus and that is also very noticable in relationship to the CF-1's "Rate" knob. Good for a Jet effect or if your like me I mainly like the chorus for Chording and leads with Lower gain settings. The effect always sounds great!! Im talking about the CH-1! I used to use the Boss CE-5. I still have it. It is a nice Chorus pedal but if you can afford the Choral/Flange by Fulltone it will in my opinion Blow all others off the stage. I have used the TC,MXR,Boss,Ibanez and a few Rack Models. With my FD2[Fulltone Overdrive 2] pedal and "69" with various combinations I can get a Joe Satriani sound that I really dig and I also get a good Hendrix/Trower vibe with my Deluxe Fender Strats. I also use a Gibson Standard Cherry Sunburst Les paul and I purchased Mike Fuller's Waw replacement parts for my Vox 847! Man was that a smart move! now when I do "No Quarter" or when I use my strats and want that Vintage Hendrix sound with that Waw's new Range and True Bypass tone people's heads turn and check it out! Very good vibe!!

I really have to give it a 10. It's as nice on the inside as the outside.

I can depend on it. Anything can break. Anything. I had a MXR go bad once. thats rare!
I use it in Gigs without backup. If it goes bad I can usually get by even though Im displeased. I know people don't always know what is happening. Thats life and I can deal with it. usually people who notice can see cause they are Musicians themselves. It's not a perfect world. I give it a 8 cause I haven't used it for years like MXR and Boss.
I am confident.

I ordered the "69" and the FD-2. I asked Mike Fuller about power Supply adapters for the units and even ordered some. he checked with me and made sure I understood what I was buying so I didn't have a problem. then the guy sent me one adapter I needed and said it's "Free" Enjoy! That was nice of him. he didn't have to do that.
Like i mentioned earlyer here I ordered the Clyde inductor coil and the POT and that Switch and used his diagram for the Vox 847 and it worked so sweet I don't see a need to buy a Clyde now.
All this stuff comes with his 5 year back up.

I play Rock and Blues and speedy Metal head banging when It' called for. I have been playing sonce I was 15 and Im 41. Through the years I have seen lots of gear and played through many set ups. I guess I mentioned what I owned above. I have experimented and had custom pedalboards made for my Line6 Modulation Modeler and Distortion Modeler and DD4 Delay Modeler. Digitech Wammy Pedal and Morley's waw waw's and DOD. I used to have an old Marshall And that was a JMP series with the old design that I bought in the 70's. I paid $847.64 for that head. the old paper Caps in it and the beautiful wiring that those companies did by hand then. And my Old Marshall Cabinet with Greem Back 30's. it was sweet.
If my CF-1 by Fulltone was stolen I would buy another one! It's my favorite by far!!
What I hate is the fact that I have spent a few thousand dollars on stomp boxes and have been told the truth regarding the lack of true bypass,cheaper parts,and what it will do to your tone. My favorite feature would have to be hard to say. Probably since the overall package is so well done but I would say it's choice parts and hand made craftsmanship making it's USA old fashoned quality come to life for me.
There is just one thing I want to say in all this great praise Im spitting out. Im a tight ass at heart. Kind but pretty hard headed in all actuality! I wouldn't say all this stuff if this wasn't the way it really is for me. Good things come and go. Heaven forbid if something happens from day to day in our newly troubled heavy populated political world.
My point is that if something were to happen to Mike Fuller and Fulltone was over it is my beleif that these hand signed hand made choice items would rise in value and price much like a great guitarist who dies and then everyone says hey"he was the best"!
We take it for granted.
Fulltone makes beautiful Musical tools that have fixed a long long time problem with my tone that I could never quite figure out.

Can be a little tricky because there are 4 knobs that can be arranged in so many different combinations to produce so many different sounds. Just work with it a while and you'll find the sound your looking for. I would say that the pedal is easy to use though, you just have to fool with it to get the sound you want. (the manual provided is very helpful in guiding you in the direction you want to go)

I have a Les Paul 57' Historic Goldtop and an old Fender Princeton Reverb and would like to get a Twin. The pedal is so quiet and sounds great! Very transparent, lets your guitar's tone come right through. Just read a review of anyone else who has bought the pedal. It's great and definately falls into the Pristine sound quality category. Top of the line chorus.

Overall great pedal, would recommend it to anyone who wants an awesome chorus. The Choralflange is very natural sounding, not synthetic sounding like most choruses. The best!!! (I also bought a Fulldrive2 which also an awesome pedal) The only problem with this pedal is that it is a bit pricey! Other than that, it's great.

Very easy to use. How hard can it be to get a sound that YOU like??

Strat--->wah--->various overdrives (BJF Baby Blue, TS9/808 by Keely, Cold Fusion, Klon)--->choralflange. I use the Choralflange to get a Leslie sim, it does a pretty good job. I like the sound. I don't use chorus all that much, but I like the sound of the choralflange a lot, i might use it more now. There is a decent(not a hole lot) amount of volume boost cabaple. Very rich.

Built like a tank from what I can see.

Haven't dealt with Fuller yet. Heard mixed feelings about him though.

I wouldn't say it's easy to use. But that's not a problem. If it were easy it wouldn't be so flexible. It's pretty sensitive and you gotta know what the knobs do. The controls have different effects depending on how they're set because they all work together. The manual does a good job of explaining how it works and how to achieve the sounds you're hearing in your head.

Magnificent! Amazing! I can comfortably say that it's worth the money. It gives me all the chorus sounds of other pedals. Instead of having 1 good chorus effect I now have several plus high quality flanging. The flanging is almost as good as the chorus. I would not buy a separate flanger- this pedal has it down. In addition to having all the sounds I need (and more) this pedal literally adds to my tone. It does not bury my tone, it's like adding another layer. Perfect.

I've had it for a month, but it's very sturdy- metal construction.

I would replace this pedal without looking at others. I know it delivers the sounds I want. I've been playing 17yrs. and I have owned stuff that was inferior because I was trying to cut corners. Usually, I end up unhappy with my budget driven decisions. I've learned to just wait til I can afford the product that most satisfies my needs. I was very skeptical of the price on this unit, but now that I've spent the money and used this device (live and studio) I don't even think about it. Last year I bought a Maxon AD900 and I feel the same way about that unit. This device is worth the money because it delivers big time.

It's very easy to use if you have worked with chorus pedals before. It has the usual controls, mix, depth, rate and delay time. Also has a tiny overall volume control that can be adjusted depending on how high you have the mix and depth controls set. There is a great amount of flexibility in this pedal, so like anything, at extreme settings things can get ugly, wild, different, etc. But if you are looking for a chorus or flange sound of any type, it is in this box.

This is a great sounding pedal. I have never really used a chorus pedal live before in the past because they always tend to sound over-processed, and tended to just stick out too far from my normal guitar sound. What I love about this pedal is it can be as subtle as I want it to be. Also the fact of in one box I can get chorus, flange and rotating speaker effects is a great space saver on my pedal board. In fact, I was using a Deja Vibe for the 2-3 songs that I needed a rotating sound on before this, but this pedal allowed me to save that space while acquiring 2 more sounds on my board. Some may view the price as being on the steep side, and maybe it is depending on where you are able to purchase. But for every pedal that I use today, I have purchased at least 5 different pedals just like it before I settled on what I use. During that experimentation process, I easily spent 3-4 times the price of the 1 pedal I ended up using for each type of effect. I know we have all heard the cliche', you get what you pay for, but I have found some obvious truth in that logic. Mike Fuller is an excellent guitar player himself, who happens to love Hendrix, Cream, Eric Johnson(fill in your blank with any great classic rock guitarist here), so he makes pedals to help emulate some of those great sounds. While every other manufacturer tries to do that as well, I feel where Mike really excells in that his pedals are geared towards playing live. Many of his pedals give you 2-3 distinct sounds, so be sure to give that some consideration when concerning yourself with price. My backup chorus pedals are the Maxon 550 and Voodoo lab analog chorus. While these are good pedals, when I lined them up side by side the CF1 just seemed richer in sound to me. And once again, the flexibility in sound is just great. I have tried the pedal in front of my amps and in the effects loop. The chorus sounded equally good in both places, but the flange tends to get lost in the loop. On my setup I found I needed to have the flange in front of the amp. That is usually true of flanges though. The pedal is whisper quiet.

If you read this site, then you learn that evidently you either love or hate Mike Fuller and his customer support. I have never spoken or dealt with him personally. The only thing I can say is he appears to take great pride in what he makes, and I benefit from that. My pedal board looks like an advertisement for his products, but it only became that way from alot of trial and error, and then settling on the pedals that gave me the sound I was hearing. Alot of that is the interaction between my guitars, amps and the pedals.I do not gig with backups. While I have quite a few pedals, if a pedal breaks, I can always get by without using it for the rest of the night. With that being said, I have never had a fulltone pedal go out on me in the 3 years since I have been using them.

See above comments. The manual for the CF1 was very informative. All I ask from a manufacturer is that they give me some guidelines for a starting point with their product. It should be up to me to fine tune things for my setup. Nobody's gear setup will sound the same, so you cannot expect certain settings to sound the same for everyone.

I play Blues, Rock, Jazz and Funk. My signal path leaves a Strat, one with EMG SA's or Seymour Duncan passives, then goes into a Fulldrive2, Ultimate Octive, Clyde deluxe Wah, Supa-Trem, ChoralFlange, Ernie Ball Volume, into the front of the amp, either 6L6, EL34 or EL84 variety, depending on type of gig. In the effects loop I have an Ibanez ADL analog delay, and a boss DD3 digital delay. As you can tell, I like the Fulltone products. They sound great, they are solid, and they seem to really be geared for live playing. But don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with everything they put out. I have tried and taken back the Distortion Pro, 69, 70 and Fatboost pedals. Not because they weren't great pedals though, just because they didn't fit in exactly with my sound, or didn't get along with my other equipment the way I would have liked. The Fulldrive and the Fatboost crossed enough of the same boost territory that I didn't need both. Anyway, for chorus or flange, I have found the pedal to last me for a long time. It seems that so many people get caught up in whether or not a pedal sounds exactly like so and so. I really don't care too much about that. I can usually evaluate a pedal by how often I keep stepping on it when I play. And by no means am I a chorus junkie. In a 3 hour gig I may only use this pedal for 20-30 minutes, and sometimes in small doses. But when I do use it, I am very pleased, and that's what it's all about.

This pedal is very easy to use. You can great sounds at the extremes and is very straightforward with it's use. The one downside is that in order to switch from Chorus to Flanger or from Narrow to Wide, you have to bend over to switch it with your hands rather being able to switch it on the fly.

Great sound! The Chorus is the best I've ever used and the pedal is SILENT... NO BUZZ AT ALL! I love it.

I haven't had it for long (only 3 weeks), but it's built with metal casing and I would feel extremely comfortable taking this to a gig without any type of backup. I give it a 9 rather than 10 only because it's so new.

I haven't dealt with the company at all and hopefully won't have to, but the Manual is very detailed.

Right now I use a Maxon OD-820 Overdrive Pro, Maxon CP101 Compressor, Boss Tuner, Boss Octave (looking to upgrade), 95Q Cry Baby Wah, and now the Fulltone Choralflange. As I stated above, I love this pedal and would definately recommend it to other guitarists!

Easy to get great sounds, not so easy (yet) to understand how to get specific great sounds. But, many great sounds at each turn of each knob... many are subtle and all but a few extremes are very musical... would appreciate a "where to start" instruction on how to create specific tonal qualities (I bet Mike knows and with more use so will I).

... pedal is not just quiet, it is silent... esp beneath the low-level buzz of my vintage-esque single coils...

Strange, but my first stage opportuinty was a Leslie sound... The CF-1 had very nice Leslie sounds... playing alone, the more subtle tones (most are more subtle than the leslie) are addictive... easy to see why amateurs like myself overuse chorus... it just sounds so full... (at least I'm aware of the draw towards the pit)...

seems solid... however, uneasy about design that insists that EXACTLY 9 volts be provided for good-sounding flanger (too much variation in batteries)... but at least Sri Fuller provided a regulated 9V power adapter.

Mike Fuller has been very responsive via e-mail (on even trivial questions)... but I certainly detect a heavy "buyer beware" in his exchange/return statements....

The ChoralFlange sounds are beautiful, even on my old tube amp which has exposed many other pedals' tonal deficiencies ... but at 4x the price ? ... if it were 1.5x the price it would get a 10 (ok, so I'm Scottish)

Why does a Rolex keep great time or a BMW handle so great? They are well designed..So is the Fulltone Choral Flange..Simply the best sounding pedal money can buy. Such a transparent transition when you engage this pedal its incredeble..I have owned every boutique Chorus and Flanger made..nothing come close to the Fulltone

The Best chorus / flanger / leslie sim. I have ever played , it is so natural and rich I can use it in so many more situations than those processed metallic chorus pedals that I have used in the past , also blows away my TC pedal , This is the Baddest,Coolest , Sweetest , Drippy wet Chorus EVER!!!

I find this unit clearly marked and highly adjustable. The manual is adequate, and helps you get quality sounds right away. It also provides hints as to how to adjust the parameters for changing those "bread and butter" sounds readily.

I am using this with a Parker Nitefly going into either a Mesa IIC+ or Triaxis head. With both amps, I use the CF in the effects loop.

I find the unit remarkably quiet, the exception being when I switch to single coils on the Parker, and at that point the unit effects the ground noise from the pickups; it's not the CF's fault. My guess--but I have not tried this--is that with my Les Paul Deluxe the unit would be sonically invisible.

There's a whole lot of sounds in this pedal, and the sound quality is excellent. As one accustomed to digital chorus and flange, it is a pleasant change to work with the analog circuitry. It's very warm and rich sounding, and, to my ears, changes the natural sound of the instrument very, very little. It has a wonderful complexity to the sound, too, that I really appreciate.

It's hard to imagine something much better or much more versatile in a unit this size!

I feel quite certain I can depend upon it. It's built very well and, for the light duty use I give it, should last as long as me.

I have not dealt with Mr. Fuller, but I did drop him a note and he replied quickly. So, good correspondence. I have no reason at all to think his support would be anything less than excellent, and every reason to believe it would be.

I have been playing for 32 years now, in most genres except jazz. I appreciate high quality gear, and try to make wise purchases when I do buy something new. I've had choruses before, and use Lexicon gear in my studio, so my ears have heard a variety of units before. I like this one very much, and believe I will continue to like more and more as the years go on. It's definitely a great piece. In the studio I'll probably continue to use my PCM80 for guitar tracks, because it is so rich and, well, so right. Yet the CF appears and sounds to me to be a first-rate device, and I really, really like what it does to my live sound.

So, I'm very happy with it, and would commend it to anyone seeking a chorus pedal. And, to add just one other note, I felt so good purchasing this unit, knowing it was made in the USA. My purchase price no doubt went to help people in our midst instead of lining the pockets of some greedy executive importing inferior products made by people in other countries working for a pittance. I tip my hat to Mr. Fuller for making a quality unit at a reasonable, made-in-America price.

Fulltone pedals, the CF-1 included, typically take a bit of tweaking to get dialed-in (IMO), but when you do, WHOA! Switching between chorus & flange takes tweaking, but I wouldn't expect the same settings to carry-over! I dabbed a few different colored spots with marker on the face-plate marking my standard settings. The "manual" is fine for the little time its actually used....the fine tuning is done by ear. The battery cover is tricky to get off!

Fender '58 Strat, '70 LP Custom (with Fralins), Menatone Blue Collar, Boss DD-5, Fulltone CF-1 (last in chain), mono/stereo thru a Fender Vibrolux Custom (Weber P10Q's), '58 Tweed Tremolux, '58 Gibson GA-6. I'd lived without chorus for many years, heard the others (TC, Carl Martin, cheap junk pedals)& wasn't moved. Plugged into a CF-1 and bought it on the spot. I only use chorus sparingly, so its most important feature is the buffered by-pass is totally transparent! When using chorus, the CF-1 (mono or stereo) is bright, full, rich and warm. The stereo chorus effect is awsome.

In a year of use, nothing has caused me to doubt its reliability. It's never failed in rehersals, studio or gigging. It's well built!

I rarely add comments to product reviews. If I do, I won't put anything out here until I've owned/used a product for a year. In the year I've owned/used the FullTone CF-1, I've been very pleased with my purchase. There's a few little quirks about the pedal, but sound is everything and the CF-1 has the sound I wanted!!!! Yea, its pricey, but how much cash do ya waste buying cheap pedals that didn't cut it? If stolen, I'd buy another in a heart-beat.

I find chorus in general difficult to use well. It is often a fairly subtle effect. Too little and you won't even notice it. Too much and you are in a world of mud. This is especially true for my application bass guitar. So, like most choruses, it took me a while to find a sound I like. With this chorus you can tweek many parameters, so it makes it harder to work with. You sort of need to know how the knobs interact. One thing I noticed is that the rate knob has a much wider range of control than many choruses. At the slowest setting you would have enough time to make tea between peaks!

I glanced at the manual. The settings were mostly for guitar applications. It didn't bother me much because I have used choruses before. Still it took a lot of work to get a good sound. I am marking it low here, cause this is not for the novice pedal user. I figure that if you are looking at a $300 pedal you are not a novice.

I am using this in a bass amp rig. I have a very high-end all tube bass rig. (Kern IP-777, Aguilar DB 728, SWR Megoliath, if that means anything to you.) I have spent a ton of time and dollars on my sound. I expect the same from my pedal effects. (Got lot's of these too.) The sound is sort of between an Electro-Harmonix Poly-chorus and an old Boss CE-1. It has the warmth, and richness of the PC, and the shimmer of the CE-1. It replaced a Poly-chorus in my rig. The PC can be great for bass. (Sting and Jaco both used them.) But I often found it to be too thick. This pedal is much more transparent, like a TC Electronics, but much warmer. It also has some of the top-end chimminess of a CE-1 which is great for giving definition to very low notes. As I mentioned earlier, the controls have a very large range, so it is easy to get a wide variety of sounds from it. I do miss the feedback control that was on the Polychorus, but not by much. I wish it had a tone control.

The unit is built extremely well. I think it can take a lot of use. On the other hand when you own a very expensive pedal like this, you tend to be much more careful with it.

This unit was defective. It was repaired under warrantee without a hitch. Mike Fuller really listened to what I had to say and fixed it. The guy stands behind his products.

So here is where I give you a bit of history on this pedal. I bought the pedal from Fatsound Guitars about a year ago. I was using a Polychorus at the time and needed something capable of a more subtle sound. I got the unit and played with it for some time. It was nice sounding, but I felt I was scooping out some of the mid-range tone from my bass. (I am in the old-school camp of bass players, so I tend to like thick, warm bass.) It also had too much top end chime. Also, when the effect on, but there was no input, I would hear a noticeable swirling. I just spent $300 on it, so I tried very hard to like it. (You know how that goes.) Anyway, my guitarist, Tom, listened to it. He knows Mike personally, as they were roommates for a couple of years. Tom said there must be something wrong, Mike would never manufacture something like that. So, at his suggestion I sent it back. I sent Mike an email explaining my POV. I told him that I missed the warmth and thickness of the Polychorus. A couple of weeks later I got it back. The repair tech told me that there was a bad resistor or something. Anyway, when I got it back, this thing was beautiful. It was extremely quiet and it had a richer, thicker sound. I used to think this pedal was a big cold and sterile sounding like the TC Electronics SCF. After I got it back my opinion completely changed. I am very happy with it now.

this is the best pedal i've ever owned. thank god the manual has recommended settings in it, i've had difficulty trying settings from scratch by myself. HOWEVER, this is not a negative. follow the assembly directions, kiddies, and you're good to go. the manual is excellent, easy to read, with acceptable pictures.

although it's recommended as last in you effects path before the amp, i am using is sucessfully in the effects loop. signal path: guitar, ernie ball volume, voodoo labs sparkle drive, voodoo labs tremelo, budda bud wah+, bogner ecstacy 101b. loop has choralflange. power comes from a voodoo labs pedal power (recommended by mike).

this pedal is clean. i mean absolutely clean. i mean ABSOLTUTLEY clean. did i repeat myself? this pedal adds NO noise, NONE, no matter how much gain i have. NOTHING.

the chorus is pristine, cleanest of any pedal or rack mount i've ever tried. my favorite setting is the recommended 'vintage chorus' sound with the rate turned up a little past the recommended postion. PHAT. ran this thing last week through two mesa dual rectifier half stacks on clean, blew my mind. i have NEVER heard a chorus like this in my 20+ years of playing.

when operated in stereo mode, you don't get true bypass. this is controller by a four switch dip that is easily accessable under the lid. still very transparent in this mode when the chorus isn't active.

in mono this beast is also excellent.

i don't really use flange, but the flanging is good. very 'ain't talking about love' -ish, with lots a control.

this thing is a friggin' tank.

i've had 3-4 e-mails to fulltone, and one phone call. mike is great and responsive. incredibly technically competent. i've read a lot of negative feeback on this guy, and in my opinion, if mike wasn't very friendly to you, your probably one of those typical fucking idiots i've met who has a pea for a brain. i wouldn't give you the time of day either.

i will always have this pedal. if i lose it, i'll get another. i'm looking to get the fat boost to replace my sparkle drive, which i only use as a clean volume boost now. i also had the opportunity to try the cylde wah deluxe, great pedal. someday i'll replace my budda bud wah+ with this.

You pretty much can't get a bad sound out of this thing. Much better than the cheesy boss choruses. Invest the money and get this!

I have a great rig, and this chorus makes it sound that much better. I run a Gibson Custom Pat Martino, Sadowsky Custom Strat and a Steinberger GL4T into a Voodo Lab SparkleDrive, then into a Prescription Electronics Experience, then into a Fulltone DejaVibe and finally into a Fulltone ChoralFlange. From their, I do stereo out. One side goes out to a killer Rivera Fandango and the other side either goes into my old Marshall Super Lead, or if I'm recording it goes direct into a Pod Line 6 into the board.

The key to the great sound is the stereo out of the chorus (last in the chain) into 2 amps. Boy does that sound great.

Best chorus in the world. Sounds particularly great with the DejaVibe.

There are lots of adjustable peramiters on this unit, extremely flexable. Chorus and Flanger settings react in there own distinctive way when you turn the knobs. they seem to have completely seperate routings, it's literally like there are two seperate pedals built into one unit with common adjustable peramiters (very nice). Not like some Electro Harmonics stuff which tries to pack 3 different effects into one box and ,usually, only one works the way it should! this pedal is factory set as a stereo unit and there are adjustable switches inside which enable you to set it up as a "mono" unit. The mono setup makes it true bypass and the stereo setting is buffered (I think?). Anyway it's very easy to use, I haven't even looked at the manual yet but I'm getting some great results with minimal effort so far...

I've placed this pedal in the effects loop of a Bogner Shiva Head along with a Maxon AD900 analog delay (Sweeet pedal) and the Mooger Fooger 12 stage phaser (smooth...) there are various pedals on the front end too (FT Clyde Deluxe wah, FT Fulldrive 2, ZVEX Fuzz Factory, FT Supa Trem (sexy) and ZVEX Super Hard On). I run all this stuff through a 2x12 Bogner Cab and it's to die for when using my 58 Esquire Tele or Gibson Les Paul Custom! More specifically the CF-1 sounds full and fat (organic) I can get any chorus sound I need with this pedal. It can be very transparent or thick and in texure. It's really though to get a bad sound out of this pedal, just sounds beutiful. The flanger is also amazing, oh the things this pedal is capable of doing and sounding like is behond my wildest dreams. I also have an Analog Clone Clon, which in it's own right is very nice, but it's been retired as a back-up unit since the CF-1 entered my rig. these pedals are worlds apart in terms of versitility. The CC give a nice thick classic and a bit of a darker tone...with the CF-1 I can cover all the bases from classic traditional to modern chorus sounds. This pedal is worth having in my rig, no dought!

built like an iron block, but not too heavy! pots and jacks are top notch and internal craftsmanship is impecably hand wired.

I've heard good things, never dealt with mike though.

Get this pedal if you need A) complete versitility B)the most beutiful chorus sounds immaginable C)a well built and reliable unit that's built for the road D)studio quiality chorus! Costa allot but worth it! If it were lost or stolen I'd have to sell of my Analog Man to buy another one. Try one and wonder how you've lived without it for so long.

Well its not hard to get a good sound out of it, and when you do it really sounds fantastic, but what really bothers me about this unit is that when you need to switch from Chorus to Flange or vice versa, you have to bend down and flick the little toggle switch with your hand. Why didn't he just add another foot switch instead, or better yet make two seperate pedals.
I did not read the manual because I was testing this pedal at a local music store that had it in stock. After testing it I was torn between the sweet sound and the fact that there was not foot switch to go back and forth between Flange and Chorus.

Lots of options, but pretty easy to use if you're familiar with Chorus/Flange units. The manual is pretty easy to use, but it was printed on a laser printer that was running out of toner. Ironic considering the incredible quality of Fulltone effects. The controls are pretty straight forward, and there are dip switched in the battery compartment for either buffered output (for running in stereo and/or driving long cables back to your amp) or true-bypass mode, which takes the unit completely out of your signal chain when the effect is switched off. Note that in true bypass mode, you can only run the effect in mono.

Various guitars (Strat, LP, PRS, Ibanez...)-> Carl Martin Comp/Limiter->Cry Baby->Triple Rectifier (3ch) with (2) 212 Genz Benz G-Flex cabs. The ChoralFlange is in the Recto's loop followed by an Alesis NanoVerb. I run the ChoralFlange in true bypass mode and my recto's loop on 100% wet (using the mix control on the ChoralFlange which worked the best for me). When bypassed, you'd never know its there. When the effect is on, the dimension of the Chorus is uncredible deep and rich. Even on subtle, somewhat transparent settings, you can almost feel this pedal breath. Simply the most musical chorus I've ever heard. I originally purchased the Carl Martin Chorus xII, which was had less of a personality and was much more like a HiFi chorus...too sterile. It was a nice Chorus, but I upgraded to the Fulltone originally because you have only depth and speed control on the Carl Martin, but you have Mix, Delay Time, Depth and Rate (in addition to Chorus/Flange switch, a Wide/Narrow switch and a gain control). I needed the mix control and gain control to tweak the unit to match the Recto's FX loop which is in my opinion, comprehensive but also a pain in the ass when using simplified effects that lack input, output and mix controls. Also, the ChoralFlange's input seems more suited to effects loops than those that are optimized for guitar-level inputs.

I'd say this is one of the best built pedals I have ever seen. I have no worries this will outlast me, so I gig without a backup. One thing that annoyed me is that the battery hatch doesn't quite fit correctly, you have to apply a lot of pressure to get it to slide in on one side. What worries me is that the problem is because of too little room between the casing on one side of the batter hatch and one of the potentiometers inside...but this has been only an annoyance and not a problem.

Never had to deal with Fulltone. But I'll tell you what...from what I see on the website, I get the feeling this guy is awfully cocky, and I feel like I'd be bothering him if I ever needed anything. I could be reading into this, but check out the site and some of Mr. Fuller's comments, and you'll see what I mean. I guess I understans this though, because this guy is an absolute genius in his field...I've got a list of his products I "fully" intend to purchase.

Yup, this is the bomb, and the jewel in my rig. It somehow is the one piece of equipment I get the most enjoyment out of using. It has its own personality. It looks good, its built great, and the sound is the Holy Grail of Chorus for guitar. It is suitable for all syles of music (I play everything). This thing was not cheap, but is truly is worth evey penny and proof that you get what you pay for, in this case, the finest chorus unit on earth.

Very easy to use, some of the controls take a bit of getting used to, but it's not a very steep learning curve...especially considering the sample suggestions from Fulltone and the overall sounds from the unit. Very good chorus effects, excellent flanging effects.

I'm using the Choralflange on my pedalboard alongside a Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Teese RMC1 Wah, Line 6 Filter Modeler, Ibanez Delay, Voodoo Lab Pedal Power, Korg G4 Leslie simulator, and a true-bypass loop switcher for some of the non-true bypass pedals. Guitars include various Fenders, a PRS, and Tom Anderson. The amps are Dr Z and Rivera. The verdict? This is the best flanger I've ever encountered--just make sure you use the Fulltone power supply for best results. The unit is amazingly quiet and does not change or suck your tone--it just adds great flanging to whatever you've already got goin' on! The subtle flange effects are my fave. The chorus effects are also quite astounding, but I haven't used as many chorus pedals as flangers, so I don't have as good a point of reference on the chorus side of things. One of the other reviewers mentioned Leslie simulation; I have owned numerous Leslie simulators, and while the Choralflange is great for a faster Leslie, it does not nail all the nuances of a Leslie at slower speed, especially when you want flexibility with microphone placement. I'm a stickler so I still use a separate Leslie sim for that sort of thing...so if you're looking for that George Harrison/Peter Frampton slow Leslie vibe in one pedal, ya might be better off with a Rotosphere or something...but chances are, whatever it is will not be as quiet and full as the Choralflange. I guess I use mine mostly for flanging, but it's a great chorus pedal as well. I've used it in both mono and stereo modes and it excels at both; live, I'm using it strictly mono for right now. I try not to dish out 10's, but the sound quality of this pedal is righteous.

I recently had a switch go on my FD2 in the middle of a gig. These Fulltone pedals are phenomenally well-built, but nothing is bulletproof. Fortunately, Mike stands behind his products and is always making improvements.

Emails are answered quickly, service is great--zero hassles. Be a pro and don't waste his time. I busted a switch on my FD2 and he mailed me two new (better) switches for free, arrived at my door within a couple of days. Right on.

A very useful, musical pedal. Very flexible. If you're thinking about dropping some stupid cash on a serious chorus or flanger, I'd strongly suggest the Choralflange. I lucked out and found one slightly used. My style is mostly classic r'n'r, blues, funk, jazz. Added bonus is that for such a big sound and for the versatility, the Choralflange takes up less valuable real estate on my pedalboard than originally anticipated (it's about the same size as the FD2). Impressive stuff, and you'll find yourself wanting to flange more often, as this pedal is capable of some great subtle textures in addition to full-on flanging.

Its easy to get a good sound out of the Chorus offerings. There's an incredible range of sounds on offer with just tiny adjustments. The leslie settings are particularly adaptable, altering the rate by just a mil is enough to turn it from being very vibrato to shimmery then back to chorus. The flange settings are more tricky, I found them harder to set up than the chorus, more liable to be overly wild, then again, this is a personal taste thing.

1999 ES-335 -> 94 Twin. Along with the choralflange I use Roger Mayer's superb Voodoo Bass, std dunlop wah, DD-7 Ibanez Delay (rarely now though, surprisingly good for the price). I also use a tweaked korean squier strat on occassion (korean parts were useless, american parts fitted).

No noise, I mean it, zero noise, even with the squier. This pedal is silent (when used with a REGULATED adapter). The leslie is ASTONISHING, the best I've ever heard. The Little Wing intro done with the leslie and some of the twins spring reverb through the vintage clean channel gives the most awesome warm fat dripping sound I have heard, the leslie and chorus range on this pedal will blow your mind and it compliments the ES-335 very well. The quality stays even with the ES-335's high output classic 57's on 10. Variety is also abound with this pedal. The flange is also warm (not metallic at all) but the subtler flange sounds are a bit limited and they take time to set up. I also found that the flange sounds are very susceptable to voltage quality, must use a DC regulated adapter, this helped but the flange range is still a bit wild for my tastes, I can get 2 or 3 decent settings from the flange. The flange lets it down, refer to my customer support comments with regard to flange sounds and high pitched wobbles. Its this flange problem which forces me to give it a 9, if it did not have this problem it would have got an easy 10.

Think tank......the pedal body is amazing, looks good and is very strong, clearly crafted by caring people with serious skill. The only issue I have is with the switch, its plastic, almost like one of those nasty laptop nipple things, except a bit bigger, and although its surrounded by a rubber protector it doesn't look sturdy long term. Give this pedal a chunky big metal switch please !

I e-mailed Mr Fuller several times, it started out great, answered the questions, my last mail about the flanger issues did not get responded to. But hey, he is but one man with only 24 hours in the day.

Basically I feel that the pedal needs to ship with more information about how the flange settings can be made less extreme, sometimes the flange emits a high pitched wobble, almost like a lengthened wobbly sonar bleep. This is partly solved by having a DC regulated adapter, but in my case not entirely, its still there. I'll try and e-mail again though. Mr Fuller did say that he should have included instructions about trimmers. I'd like them please !

Plus Mr Fuller needs to "persuade" his pedal resellers in the UK to sell the pedal with a DC regulated adapter. Peach Ideas in Essex, UK sold me the pedal with a cheaper Danelectro non-regulated version, easy mistake, but.........I doubt Mr Fulller would approve ! I know I should have spotted it but you cannot spot everything and I was gagging to get the pedal home and into my full set up ! Lesson is never let your widdling instincts win whilst in the shop, test it, think with your head not fingers then go wild at home.

I play blues, rock and some jazz. Been playing for about 15 years, had a 4 year period without playing though. You're not reading this to hear about my tastes in music so.......

I would buy it again, its worth the money. I love the leslie and chorus but the flange can be annoying sometimes (Refer to customer support comments about high pitched wobbles !). The leslie is the best I've heard, I doubt anything can beat it, digital certainly won't. Its just so warm, the chorus is almost as warm and theres no synthetic edge like you get with some pedals.

I compared this pedal to the voodoo vibe, the quality was about the same but the vibe had I think 7 switches and its huge....it just isn't usable for me in gig situations, plus the simplicity of the choralflange and the mind blowing quality of the leslie won me over.

Its improved the overall sounds I can offer in the band I play in. As I said, the Little Wing intro with added choralflange leslie really grabs attention and feedback on it has been very positive. You can cover a whole range of material with this pedal, blues, jazz, rock it can all benefit from what the choralflange has to offer, piercing single coil or thumping humbucker, it can handle it with ease, overall its a superb pedal and well worth its price. Its classy craftmanship at its best.

Pretty straight forward if you are familiar with the workings of a chorus. Knobs are spaced enough for bare foot control. It has an effect volume knob, so you can match the chorus/flange volume to the bypassed volume.

It sounds great to me. I have a T.C. Chorus/Flanger which is great for Bass, but to transparent for guitar. I have a Boss CE-1 which to me sounds wonderfull and warm, alittle to warm for some things though. I have a Boss CE-2 which is a bit thinner than the CE-1, but has more high end shimmer. The Fulltone CF-1 can sound very similar in lushness the the Boss CE-1, but with more high end. It has many conrols, so you can get anything from a light doubling effect to a huge out of tune warble effect. I'm not a flange fan, but this flange is nice, as it lacks the metallic sound of most other flanges I've heard. Take note that although a battery is usable with this pedal, using a regulated 9volt power supply is a MUST for peak tone. Especially with the flanger.

A little light compared to other Fulltone pedals, but still very sturdy.

I've contacted Mike several times, and he is always helpfull, although very short (He's a busy guy). Keep your communication short and to the point, and you'll get a reply, usually within 24 hours, and many times the same day. 5 year warranty, and quick turnaround.

I play alot of clean, complex chordal stuff. I can't even play clean without this pedal anymore. I use it with a Tele in front of a Deluxe Reverb. It's pulled alot of new music out of me. If you like the transparacy of a TC Chorus/Flange, you won't like this pedal, but if you are partial to the warmth of the early Boss chorus', this is what you want. I wouldn't buy another one if it were stolen, because I already own two.

A little bit more complicated than your average chorus or flange pedal but the flexibility of this pedal is amazing. The manual is very helpful and a great starting point for exploring the sounds in the unit

This is the end of line in chorus for me. I've been using a boss CE-2 or a Dodfx-65 for the last 15 years or so but was never really satisfied. The choralflange sounds fantastic and is dead silent. This is the last chorus I'll be buying and the other pedals are now for sale. I love the mix control on this, so if you want you can turn it down and it becomes VERY transparant. Although I don't use it much, the flange sounds are great too. I really can't say enough about this pedal, and for the price you'd want to be impressed. It cost almost as much as my amp! But sometimes for that extra sound quality you've got to pay a bit more

Hard to say I've only had it for a couple of weeks and haven't any experience with other fulltone pedals. Other reviewers seem to think they're pretty sturdy

I play mostly guitar pop stuff and the pedal works really well for me.I've always liked a bit of chorus on clean sounds but found boss and dod pedals a bit too much and very '80s sounding. Finally a pedal that's not overbearing, in stereo, has a mix control, true bypass, and comes with a flange as well. Thankyou Fulltone!!

Easy. Everybody's already brought up everything else about it, but it sound great on *acoustic guitar* too. Just as easy to get good sounds as with an electric.

As everybody else agrees, it sounds great. I got it because it is extremely transparent and doesn't screw with the sound of an acoustic at all. The only a/b tests I've done with it were with the Boss chorus (CE-1 or something) and the Voodoo Lab analog chorus. Both took off enough of the acoustic shimmer to make it noticable.

The ChoralFlange keeps the acoustic sounding like it should sound but adds a great chorus (or flange). The flange is great also, although having to flip the switch and adjust the settings makes it a little difficult to use both settings live.

I haven't tried it in stereo, but I imagine it shines there too.

You could stop a medium-sized animal with it, no problem. I've thought about getting a "backup" so I could use two different presets with it (chorus or flange etc.) without having to bend down and change it, but they're too expensive.

I play soft, primarily acoustic based love rock, with a Taylor 612, a 614, a Guild thinbody acoustic/electric, and a 90s American strat. The Choral Flange works great with each. I'm playing the acoustics through an Ernie Ball mono volume pedal, Choral Flange, and LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI. I use a Fulldrive 2 and Boss delay and octave pedals on top of it all for electric.

If it were lost or stolen, I'd get another. I really couldn't imagine getting another chorus pedal because nothing sounds as clean on acoustics. (I haven't tried any rackmount units, but in a pedal, this it's great.)

It took me about 20 minutes to dial up the Chorus and Flange sounds I liked. More than likely, your setting will not match up when you flip the Chorus/Flange switch, but it's all good, it does it better than any other. The manual is very nice and explanatory, but who really needs these things?

My advice is to have the unit off when you flip the Chorus/Flange switch, otherwise you get a nasty POP..normal. The unit it TRULY transparent. There are even some ways I can make it sound like a 'Vibe unit on a low setting. I use a custom JCM 800 w/ a Mesa 4x12 and some other Fulltone effects w/ a 335 and a strat. Sounds beautimous! Too much signal into the unit can...mess the sound a touch..im considering re-configuring my pedal board set-up to rectify this.

It does many great sounds, it does what I need it to do and more! I have been playing for 6 long serious years and Fulltone is still my choice. I'd buy another if it were stolen of course. Mr. Fuller, can't wait for the Distortion Pro!

This is a no brainer pedal. Easy to understand and easy to get a great sound from.

Absolutely the finest chorus and flanger sounds available at any price. Great control with no coloration to your guitar signal.

It doesn't get any better than this. If you want studio quality buy this and all of Fulltone's pedals..They are the last pedals you will have to buy. You get what you pay for...that's for sure

After 15 minutes of playing with it, it'll yield up what you're looking for. Only problem is the perfect chorus and perfect flange settings for you probably won't match up exactly, and will require playing with knobs between songs if you want to switch between effects. Lucky for me, they do just about match up, so there's no issue on stage. If you have this problem, have one of your guys tell a little story or a joke or something to occupy the audience while you fiddle with a knob or two.

Sound quality is breathtaking. I run my Anderson Hollow Drop Top through a wah, Danecho, and this little guy into a Carvin tube preamp, tube power amp, and 212 cab. Chorus effect is thick and organic, warm and swirly. It won't give you that crisp, biting overtone that you get from some digital processors, but will rather giver you a lush warble. Helps nail some Eric Johnson tones on low mix settings. Flange is warm and fluid, perfect for giving thick clean tones that something extra. Very 3D effect, even in mono.

Never needed repairs, but Mike will email you right back if you ask him about the pedal or want to comment on it.

This thing has only 4 knobs and 2 mini-toggles, can't get simpler than that. And, if anyone has previous experience with a chorus effect, you'll find this one easy to use and more versitile.

I put my Tom Anderson Classic Strat into the FullDrive 2, Utimate Octave, then placing the ChoralFlange at the end of the effects chain just before my Dr. Z MAZ 18 Jr. amp.

The best sounding Chorus and Flange I have ever used. I've tried everyting from Boss, TC Electronics, Yamaha, and more from expensive rack mount units to simple foot pedals. Everything seemed too metalic with no warmth.

Well, the ChoralFlange solved all my chorus problems. Super rich and warm with no tin-like overtones. Not sure what some of the previous reviewer were referring to when they mentioned the lack of response from this unit...I found the very opposite. It's so responsive that maxing out the mix knob would be overkill. The ChoralFlange also works well with my other Fulltone pedals mentioned above.

They way Michael Fuller builds these things, they could get hit by a Mack Truck and still work that night for a gig.

I play jazz, blues, hard rock, and anything in between. It definately fattens up the sound of my Dr. Z MAZ 18 Jr. amp. This is a must have, so I would definately throw down for another one if this one should get lost or stolen.

Nothing IMO can compare! Also, it is a fantastic value given that Michael Fuller uses only the best quality parts that cost up to 10 times as much as the offshore counter parts. No skimping here.

The pedal is extremely versatile, so it's not going to be a no-brainer-pedal to use. It has both chorus and flange and both can be tweeked in a number of ways. This is a good thing! It takes time
to find your personal settings on this pedal, but it's worth it.

Thick and Analog yet note are distinct and chords sound great. I A/B it with my TC Electronics (my previous favorite) and this pedal won out.

My first one actually had a bad input switch, but Mike told me to return it and he'd send me out a new one out asap. Other than that,
it's a Fulltone - you don't get much more reliable than Fulltone products.

Ok, time to set the record straight. Everyone has their opinion on Fulltone's customer service. If you ask me, Mike Fuller's service is 10+. People wine that he doesn't engage in endless jabber with them. Quit wining and get a friend. He's busy trying to make you the best product on the market. When you have a question, he answers it promptly, when your pedal has a problem, he addresses it promptly. He went beyond the call of duty to make sure I got a perfectly working CF-1 in my hands. If you want a company that stands behind its products, buy Fulltone.

I've had it for about 2 1/2 months now and I appreciate it even more now, then when I first got my hands on it. The Stereo spread is great!

Very easy unit to use. Comes with a very clear and concise instruction manual, the suggested settings are very good, and the operation of each knob is made very easy. If you buy this unit, please take head of the warnings, and suggestions (especially the battery operation vs. adapter, Mike's right, there is a very noticable difference.... use the adapter>

First off, my rig: American Deluxe Strat (one with Fralin Vintage Hots, the other with Kinman AVn Traditionals) > Arion Stage Tuner > Bixonic Expandora (in the "forbidden" setting, for our heavier songs: only a couple of numbers though) > Fulldrive II (Orange) > Analog Man modified TS-9 (with the brown sound option > Deluxe Memory Man > Choralflange > reissue 59 Bassman (wth NOS Phillips 6L6, Mullard GZ34, and Telefunken 12AX7 tubes), cables are Monster Rock 500 from guitar, and Evidence Audio from Choralflange to amp.
Now for the effect..... WHOA!!! I've gone through many different chorus pedals, and this one is hands down the sweetest, lushest, most transparent one I have ever played through. I went to my local dealer with the intent of buying a cable, and a Clyde Wah, looked in the case and saw they had a Choralflange in stock, took it out, plugged it into a Rivera Rake head w/ 2x12 cab, and was just completely blown away! I had been considering buying one of these since they were released, but due to the price, wanted to try it first. This unit is just so full sounding. I was concerned as to how both the flanger and the chorus would sound being fed different levels overdrive/distortion.... needless to say, came through with flying colors!! Note the flanger is good, but you really need to hit it with some overdrive to really come through (with the Fulldrive on including the boost, you can get the High Landrons flange dialed in very easily - not the comb filter sound, but the sweep sound is there).
This units also gives you the choice of true bypass, or buffered output (for use with long cables). Either setting is just wonderful, and there is no noticable difference as far as transparency between the two. As far as the stereo split, it is just HUGE! I got the unit home, hooked up my stage rig, and split the signal out to a Rivera BM60-212 anniversary model (this amp is one of 250 with a signed certificate from Paul, phenomenal amp, but stays home... don't want anything to happen to it). If you have the opportunity to try this in stereo, you have to try the flanger. You really get the feeling of sitting in a 3D surround sound theatre, with the sound modulating around you very subtly.
one more thing to note on this, is you can use batteries, or the adapter. Fulltone recommends using the adapter for the best results. With new batteries you really do get a hot, bright grating sound. Kinda of defeats the unit, doesn't sound nearly as good.

Based on my past experiences with Fulltone products, I know I can count on this unit. I also know that if anything does go wrong with it, I can send it back to Fulltone, and have it fixed right. I'm not too worried about taking a backup chorus pedal along, because I've never had a Fulltone product go south on me.

I've read differing responses for this catagory, but I must sy that in the few times I've sent emails to Fulltone, Michael Fuller has responded with answers to my questions, and has been extremly helpfull. I sent Fulltone an email today (Sunday) about the Choralflange, just to tell them how much I liked the unit, and Michael responded back in the afternoon (totally unexpected, especially on a Sunday). I realize he's selling products as fast as he can make them, and must be incredibly busy..... for him to respond personally, on a weekend just amazed me.

My band FairGame is mostly a cover band (we do a couple of originals, but have had some turnover recently, so it's been hard to put more in: http://community-2.webtv.net/Razorblades/FairGameHomepage/ ). My responsibility in the band is allot of the "coloration", and much of the classic rock solos. In order to do this, I need a setup that gives me allot of different types of sounds, and allows me to fill out the sound (we have three guitar players in the band, one playing a Mesa, one playing a Marshall, and me with Fender..... wonderful tone mix). Our music runs from Marshall Tucker, Bob Dylan and the Allman Brothers to The Foo Fighters, Lit, and Filter, so I have to cover allot of ground. I've always had a chorus pedal in my rig, turning it on once in a while for the more "acoustic" based numbers, just to fatten out the sound of my playing, after using this last night for the first time, I'll probably be using it all the time now. Just a tremendous difference in sound, and something that's not an obvious type sound (unless you want it to be). When you turn it off (if you ever do), you won't believe how dry and lifeless your sound is. I've always heard musicians say, that when the sound is there, the music just flows. I found myself getting that vibe with this pedal, it just lets you go..... takes away the annoying habit of thinking, wishing this or that was a little different. I really do like this pedal, and would definately buy another one if were lost or stolen.

Good manual. Many chorus examples, only 1 flange example. Easy to get any sound out of it. DIP switch info for true bypass or buffered output to drive long cables in stereo situations.

My setup: PRS/Gibson->ernie ball stereo volume/pan->morley vai wah->mxr phase 90->fulltone choral flange->mesa/boogie v-twin pedal->line6 delay modeler->mesa/boogie dual rectifier trem-o-verb.

This unit is quiet on every setting. No clicks, cycles, nothing. Only pops when you throw the switch from chorus to flange when the pedal is on. Just a weak pop, but Mike Fuller tells you to expect this in the manual. Not a prob... I never flip the sucker while it's on anyways.

Easy to get effects from any artist, amazing detune effect for Tool situations, simple leslie modulation tones, vintage choruses, anything is accurately done with this box. TRANSPARENT! You don't know a pedal's transparency until you've compared on/off situations to this pedal. No cutting corners, words cannot explain.

Seems kinda light and thin but sturdy maybe. Too pricy to backup, maybe with a cheaper temporary backup unless I needed to replace it sometime. Should last a lifetime still.

I've emailed the company a couple times with stupid questions and got no response. Sure they may be busy, but answer me damnit. I figure this is a company that doesn't like you unless you write about their products which you've bought from them.

I play rock to metal to blues to jazz to progressive to whatever's left (except country thank you). This pedal will work in any situation (unless this pedal is more expensive than your guitar). I've only had it a day, and compared to the TC Electronics SCF chorus pedal, this Fulltone pounds the shit out that TCE by a mile. Sure it's almost $100 more, but you'll be happy you spent it. I was reluctant, but I'm beyond satisfied now. I just wish there were programmable settings on this sucker; it gets so many awesome sounds, I wish I could sit and twist the knobs the whole set to outfit every situation.

Fairly straight forward 10 or 15 minutes you should have it down. I did find after I dialed in a good chorus sound when I switched to the flanger it needed a lot of redialing to get a decent flanger effect. In a live stage setting this is no good. I'll continue using both my Chorus and flanger.

I use Strats with various kinmans pickup sets through Marshall 900s sometimes old fenders in stereo. I currently use a DOD fx65 stereo chorus and a boss flanger. The fulltone has a very subtle effect both chorus and flanger. Even wide open it wasn't what I expected. My old DOD65 actually has a better separated stereo effect and has less hiss. If your searching for a versatile pedal the Fulltone is it.The Leslie effect is very nice. If you want a good sounding stereo chorus for 50 bucks the DOD wins. Again the fulltone sounds very good but at 350 bucks it should also do the dishes

I,ve played guitar longer than I care to say. And have always looked for improved tone and effects. The fullman just didnt pull it off for me. Although it sounded good, I found my old 80s DOD does the job I want.And is very simple to use.

The unit could be a bit easier to use...He does include a number of settings in the manual (but being impatient, I plug, play, and read later). After finally reading, tis rather easy. I wish I could find a chorus/flange that could be operated with one flick. The best I have found with the chorus is 12 o'clock with all knobs. The best flange is full out on all knobs. Easily adjusted to get there but there is a little work.

I run my PRS custom 24, Gibson 335 63, Fender Tele Thinline, and Parker Fly thru the pedal and they all have their individual charms. The unit does not color the sound of the guitar at all. I have a FD2 and a Rat ahead of it and both are used wonderfully with the pedal. The flange is really transparent until you put some drive behind it (the more drive, the more swirl). I never knew that flange could be so clean. I play all thru a Vox AC15, so the pedal seems to work especially well with this clean amp. The chorus is warmer than my TC Chorus, and the Flange on the Fulltone blows my TC flange away. No Contest

One emailed question to Mike answered in 5 minutes. Quick and terse but complete. I like to think he was busy soldering when he stopped to check his mail. Answered the question, and went back to work.

I love love love pop music (Police, REM, Petty). This pedal is wonderful for the chorus alone, but the Flange on my Andy Summers licks is dead on. Also nails the newer brit pop (a la Oasis). I have bought almost all chorus and flange pedals and this is the best so far! I was searching for a chorus flange combo pedal that could replace my CE2 and BF2 (Boss). The TC Chorus covered the CE2 but the flange portion was weak. What I came to realize is the reason the BF2 sounds so good is because it is such a noisy pedal. The noise really makes the pedal swirl. The choralflange has a very transparent flange and at first, seemingly little swirl. Put some drive into the pedal (not just guitar, because it remains transparent shifting the sound with no jet plane) like a FD2 and the jet plane comes in for the landing. It still could be easier to go from great chorus to great flange with a flick of a switch, but I realize that all our ears are different. Truly a treat in this pedal...a keeper.

This pedal does sound good. It does not "blow away" other modulation padels however. I was expecting more given the price. I can only find one chorus sound that I like, when i get the mix past noon, I get a "volume" boost when the rate modulates up (if that makes sense). When the rate light gets bright, I get the previous. If I set the mix down, it helps. I don't like this pedal's flange when i have my OD on with my amp, sounds horrible, the chorus i s better. This pedal is best for distortion when you put a good OD pedal in front of it, then it sounds wonderful.

I wish he would have built an individual chorus pedal since that is why i bought this, i'm not big on flange. but my way huge blue hippo is much more organic. i would not buy this pedal again, too expensive for what you get. i do have confidence that it will last. i would suggsest a/b'ing this with other pedal and then making a decision, don't just say "it's a fulltone".

I found it weak, somewhat metallic, and noisy at some settings. If you're looking for good chorus sounds buy Analog Mike's clone clone, I find it much better by far at half the price.

I'm sure it'll hang, Fuller does build dependable product.

I had high expectations and tried to get into it, but the CF1 just didn't flip my switch. I've used just about every chorus out there, new and old. As far as pedals go, Analog Mike's clone pleases my ear the most. ymmv.

It is probably one of the smoothest and richest chorus pedals but for 300 dollars I was hoping it would be able to get more intense. It sounds a lot richer in stereo mode. I play bass and guitar and it sounds good on both. It sounds a lot more natural than electro harmonix's flanger but it is not as intense as that. It also would have been cool with a manuel control or duel oscilating chorus' but if you are a strat/tele person you probably will love it. Or if you like the tube screamer you will love this pedal.

too expensive. If your not to concerned with extremely rich tone buy a chorus and a flanger pedal and don't worry about getting this, they will work just as well.

Four knobs: mix, delay time, depth and speed. Two toggles: chorus/flanger, narrow/wide (controls bandwidth for the sweep). Inside the cahssis is a switch for true bypass (mono only) or buffered out (stereo or mono). I run it is mono, although the buffer is very transparent.

Very good taper to all the dials, there are a lot of useful sounds here. The manual is very good. The suggested settings are useful and well thoght out and the function of all the dials is well explained.

My set up: 59 strat or 66 tele into (1) fulldrive 2, (2) klon centaur, (3) choralflange, (4) demedter tremulator into either a Dr. Z Route 66 head + 1968 4x12 Marshall cab or 1958 deluxe. Sometimes a TS-808 sneaks into the chain. All pedals switched via hard bypass strip.

Up front: I generally hate chorus. This unit, however, is so deep and versatile that I have made room for it in my set up. I had an old CE1 and a TC in the 80s and, if memory serves, this unit approximates their sounds very closely. The best feature about the old CE1 was the vibrato, which this pedal doesn not exactly capture, but the lush vibratoed chorus is there. The stereo split is quite like the TC, if you like that sort of thing. The Leslie sound is not as textured as a Hughes and Kettner Rotosphere, but an be tweaked to respectability (its actually, in mono at least, better with the narrow bandwidth and higher depth and delay settings that Fuller suggests). But the beauty of the pedal is in the incredible range of "its own" sounds it has. What Fuller identifies as the Michael Landau "wild" sound is not so wild to my ears (even when fronted with a opened up 808 of FD2, but it is extremely lush. It even does a serviceable Univibe sound. I use it almost exclusively for the Leslie simulation.

Looks pretty sturdy, but I've only had it for a week or so, so no basis for judgment.

On a prior review of the FD2 I kind of skewered Fuller for being rude on the phone. I was probably a bit harsh. he is after all very busy, makes great gear and answers the phone himself. Still ,he could be more patient.

I play mostly rock and mostly what is now called, to my dismay, "roots" rock. I've been doing it on and off for 20 yrs. This is the best chorus pedal I've had, but I'm no expert in chorus. I use it almost exclusively for Leslie sounds and find it fairly convincing for that. But it is nice to know that I might be able to find other sounds that aren't "typical" stereo chorus sounds that are to my taste. The pedal is expensive and the flanger is a waste on me.

Couldn't have been easier. From the factory, all the knobs were set to 12 O'Clock. That turns out to sound absolutely gorgeous!

This is the most awesome chorus effect I've ever played through. Unlike the TC Chorus, there is no residual effect on the basic tone of the guitar. (The TC cuts the mids even in bypass mode). The tone is full and robust and after ample A-B'ing of the chorus and dry tones (using an external AB Box as well as the built in On/Off switch), I cannot hear any difference in tone. Hearing distorted tones from this box were absolutely amazing. The pedal's
chorus sounds are analog-thick and rich and range from subtle doubling to beautifully rich swirls to psychodelic tones!

Only had it a day but I've had half a dozen Fulltone products and they're all built like tanks. Handmade and not stamped out by the cheapest offshore manufacturers.

I've dealt with Mike Fuller (president/chief designer) of Fulltone ever since his very first effect and I've always gotten great service from him and unlike dealing with monolithic orgs like Boss/Marshall/Ibanez, you actually talk to Mike when you call them. I've sent pedals in to have them tweaked or modified and found the support better than any other effect manufacturer, period.

I play lots of different music from Hendrix style rock to Holdsworth style fusion to Pat Metheny style jazz. This pedal seems to have a home in every one of those styles, particularly because it sounds great distorted, even in front of the amp. Certain settings bridge the gap between Univibe and Chorus tones and playing Jimi's "Little Wing" with this pedal is truely "Heaven on Earth". For fusion stuff, a slow flange with this pedal sounds truely amazing as does funky rhythm stuff.

Additionally, this box seems equally at home with my Strat, my Les Paul, and surprisingly so, my Ibanez jazz box (which uses mini-humbuckers).

The pedal comes with an internal switch to go between true bypass and buffered bypass mode. It comes from the factory with the buffered bypass and in fact, stereo usage is not possible unless buffered bypass is enabled. If you're worried about that - DON'T. The buffered bypass is VERY transparent (See comments in the sound quality section)

Folks - Forget the TC, Carl Martin, CE-2 folks. This pedal is it!

Read the manual through a couple times. Along with the suggested settings in the back it was easy to get a good sound straight away.

I'm using two vintage Vox AC-30 combos(a`60 & `63) with several guitars(PRS Custom22, `59 Gretsch Anniversary, Strat, Ric-12, Gretsch Sparkle Jet, old Gibson L.P.Special(`59), Tele....I'm using several other effects; Matchless HotBox, Fulltone Fulldrive2, Vox Tone Bender(old one!) JEN Cry Baby(have 3 of `em), Fulltone Soul Bender, Sola Tone Benders, and many others. Usually use about 4 pedals at most at one time. The Choralflange(CF-1) is the last in the chain. Typical setup is wah>fuzztone>FullDrive2>HotBox>CF-1. Haven't been able to get a bad sound/tone form any of them through the CF-1. The distortion into the flanger mode is complete Hendrix "House Burning Down"!

I play everything from blues to Britpop to straight ahead rock. I've been playing 35 years(most professionally). I have too many guitars, amps and pedals to list here. If my stuff were stolen I'd be at Fulltone the next morning buying new pedals. I have two other chours type units. One's an old Ibanez CS-9 and the other is the new Marshall one. One big factor with those old ones is the big volume jump when they are turned on. Makes having a even volume on stage or in the studio a problem. Drives engineers and sound guys nuts!! With this the volume is consistant due to the adjustable level control. This is a very musical pedal that's the warmest chours/flanger I've ever used or heard. the Leslie setting is amazing. Much better than the Line6 modeled Leslie 145!! I'll never have to buy another chours or flanger again as this is "IT"!!!!!!!

4 KNOB CONTROLS - DEPTH/MIX/RATE/DELAY TIME
Also has a switch for narrow and wide octave ranges, plus a small volume adjustment dial to increase output if needed.
Manual provides some useful settings to sample what this pedal can do, but the real exploration is in your hands.

The led bulb flashes depending on how fast you set the Rate dial. I thought there was a problem at first, maybe a bad grounding, etc., but after reading through the manual more closely I discovered this was normal.

The box does include a 9-volt DC regulated adapter plug. I guess Mike feels the flanger won't work as well on batteries. I don't use the flanger as much, so I will take his work for it, and save buying batteries for it anyways.

I am using an American Standard Telecaster & an older Yamaha FG Electric/Acoustic played through a Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue. Both guits sound great played through the pedal. I am more of a chorus user, than a flanger user - so I haven't really played around with the flanger as much - but the CHORUS - WOW... it is phenomenal. It is as deep and rich as I have ever heard. Great for both clean and overdriven sounds (I use it with the FULLDRIVE 2 pedal).
The true bypass is also a great feature, lets you get rid of the pedal in one stomp.

Well, since Mike just started producing these things I haven't heard of any problems thus far. Mine works great. It is built solidly.

I play a variety of stuff from my own "lousy" compositions to blues, jazz, and even some classical. The pedal adds richness and depth to whatever sound comes out of my amp. I haven't explored as many opportunities with blues & this pedal yet...but I have been entranced by its fullness on clean sounds. IT is a big investment at $300+, but I am planning on keeping it for a long time...Let's see... if I am around for another 30 years or so, that's only ten bucks a year.
I hate buying junky stuff that sacrifices tone for a cheaper price...I prefer to buy things (the few things I buy for my guitar setup) that are built to last and have been known to achieve high standards of quality.

This sounds amazing, Im useing a USA strat with Frailins in it,my pedals are Budda Bud wah, TS-10 tubescreamer ,Chroalflange,Boss DD-5,70's Small Stone,Austone Solo-0-Stomp into a Twin. The Settings that are in the directions are great. I just used it last night on a rock,funk,gig..it was amaing everytime i clicked it on, i was going WOW! One thing I thought was very cool was the Leslie setting. I have a Leslie model 16 that i (used) to play through but i don't want to haul it around anymore and i love the sound of it. I was considering buying a Hughes & Kettner Rotosphere. When i set the CF-1 to the Leslie setting i was very surprised that it is the best sounding leslie simulation for a chorus pedal i have ever heard. While some of the other companies claim to have a "leslie" type setting for there chorus pedals they suck compared to the CF-1. I also play straight ahead jazz, and this thing is coming to my next gig, comping chords with it was amazing! I haven't run it in stereo yet i wonder what thats like!

I just had my whole live rig stolen out of my car! Including my TS-808, thats what is fucked! I had a Boss Chorus Ensemble thank god they stole it!! Now i got the CF-1!! If this were stolen id buy another in a second. I don't even want to think about that. Im called to play in alot of differnt situations and musical style's, this pedal nails it..Like i say i was going to get the Carl Martin..i played it at the NAMM show and the guy promised me he would ship me a pedal, he flaked, so i bought the CF-1 thank god it fell through!

After reading the easy-to-understand and well written manual, the knob twirling became second nature.

This is the best sounding chorus and flanger I have ever heard in my life. I play bass (Rickenbacker "Chris Squire" Limited Edition). This pedal is thick, lush, and most important to me, handles the bass frequencies so perfectly, it is as if the pedal was designed strictly for bass (which it wasn't). No clipping (like I got with the TC chorus). True bypass. I will never sell this pedal, not as long as I live. I can't say that about any other pedal. I realize this may come across as just another (yawn) raving review, but this pedal deserves the highest rating possible. You know that feeling you get when you click on a pedal and say to yourself, "Oh yeah...I love the sound of this pedal", well that's what this pedal does.

Does the word "tank" mean anything? And what a quality feeling when you twirl the knobs. Total quality. Solid.

I own two other Fulltone pedals (Supatrem and Bassdrive 2). I play classic rock, and am currently working with a few folks to put together a Yes tribute band. I needed to find a chorus and a flanger that would cut through the mix, sound full, and maintain the full frequency range for bass. $320 may sound like a lot, but it is a bargain when you consider that you get two totally top quality pedals built into one unit. Worth every cent. If you are checking these reviews because you are contemplating buying one of these, buy it. You will be so glad you did. These raving reviews (mine and the others here) are not like some postings with raving reviews for pedals that really aren't that good. The ChoralFlange really is this good. ...and I am damn picky.

In The following review I am amending a previous CF-1 review I did on (2/18/00). You will have to work with this unit some before you can realize all of its varied sounds but it is worth it.

This thing does "Leslys","early boss", and very clean Flanging, and anything in between.Anyway here is the reason Im adding to my original review. In the manual there is a setting for heavy flanging I tried it and didnt really hear anything that was all that great, I thought why did Mike Fuller use this example anyway? Well I now Know why,you have to hit the CF-1 with some dirt, overdrive ,fuzz, whatever( I used a fulldrive 2).The most amazing and inspiring sound, " Studio type Flanging",Like on the end part of the Axis bold As Love solo or the begining of House Burning Down or Eric johnson`s High Landrons.As I recall from a Guitar Player interview Eric used two Flangers in tandom to get his unique sound.Well it only takes one CF-1,sorry Eric.I dont mean to rant but this is one of the most amazing sounds to have ever dropped from my fingers... fingers. Here are the settings;mix-hard Rt,delay time-hard Rt,depth-hard Rt,rate-hard Lft.You need to be in flanging mode and on the wide sweep rate. Try it you'll like it, remember to distort before the CF-1 other wise it wont happen.Enjoy!

I play many styles and love my favorite guitarists from the 60`s to present day. All of the fulltone pedals allow me to get those golden sounds from yester-year. Beck,Page,Jimi,Carlos, Oh and ofcourse,most importantly Myself!

If you have ever used a chorus or a flanger before, the pedal is very easy to use. The included manual (also available online) is straight-forward, and has some great suggested settings to get you started.

My main guitar is a mongrel strat (fender cstm shop body, suhr neck, etc..) ampwise I usually use a combination of a Budda Stringmaster, a Hiwatt SA212, and a custom made Rivera Proto-type. My pedals rotate day-to-day, but I always use a Fullride2, a wha, an octave pedal and a chorus pedal.

As far as chorus/flange pedals go, the CF-1 is extremely quiet. It can get all of the classic chorus, slow & slushy, to almost trem./leslie-type sounds. The flange is very thick and the gain trimpot makes it leap out of the mix. I was able to get all of the sounds I need for my band's original songs, and any covers that we might do. It nailed Page's tone is "No Quarter" without even trying.

You really need to use the power supply with this pedal to get the most out of it. 9 volt batteries have a tendency when new to sound too 'hot' voltage-wise, and it may sound harsh. when the 9v starts to die (below 8-9v) it starts really affecting the effect negativly.

As with all Fulltone effects, they are solidly built (hand-made with top quality parts and heavy duty cases). I own four other Fulltone pedals, after about four years of use. None of them have had a hicup, burp, or any other problem. None of them have died with the abuse of touring. I can't say the same for some of the other pedal companies out there.

I have emailed and called Michael Fuller on several occasions, he has always been very helpful and friendly. He has always taken the time to help me out and answer even my nurotic pedal/effect questions, and for that I am extremely thankful.

I have 7 other chorus and flanger pedals (Voodoo Lab, Boss CE1&CE2's, etc...) if this pedal was lost or stolen, I would buy another one without blinking or giving it another thought. I love the way it sounds, and all of the sounds you can get out of this one pedal. It is a very versatile pedal that is excellent for studio use and being experimental if you've got the studio time. The only thing that kinda sucks (well, maybe not) is that I have found too many useful sounds out of it, and will have to get a second one for live use.

Un-freaking-believable! Wow! Can you say lush? This is pure tone. Can't find anything bad to say about the chorus or flanger settings. Big, bad, and thick beyond words.

Gigging with Fulltone for a really long time with no problems.

Can usually get Mike on the phone without problems. If a pedal goes bad, you can send it to him and he'll fix and return it with minimal fuss.

There is no other chorus around that can touch the Choral Flange. I got the first one the dealer got in and bought it immediately. I am totally, totally satisfied with this amazing sounding box. I play jazz and rock and am very inspired by the tones produced by the pedal.

The CF-1{choralflange}Is very easy to use once you read the manual and get familiar with it.If you just try out all of the settings you will have it figured out pretty quick.

I use a Heritage Lespual,srat,Jerryjones{page model}and a Dano 12 string for my guitars.I then hit my budda wah,into a Deja Vibe,Fulldrive2,Soulbender,and finally an echo-plex.My amp is a Budda 30 watt superoverdrive amp with a 1x12" speaker.I have not yet decided where to put the CF-1,probably last so I have the option of runing in stereo and boy does it sound lush in stereo.The sounds I have gotten With the CF-1; That George Harrison Chorasing effect you hear on the AbbyRoad L.P. I have never heard that sound from a pedal except in the studio by means of overdubbing.This pedal does great Lesly effects,like in"Crossfire" The pedal is very quiet and it doesnt mess up your basic guitar sound.To me a great pedal can be evaluated very simply, when you plug it in do you want to keep playing through it or do you click it off when the novelty wares off.When I first plugged this effect in I played it for hours without stopping.

This pedal is very lite and sturdy,the dials are retracted into the main frame so they cant get moved, bumped, or wrecked.I could use this pedal without a backup.

I must give fulltone the highest marks in this catagory.I have never had a problem getting Michael on the phone and he always answers E-mail.

I have been playing for 25 years both studio and live gigs.I already own a script logo phase 90,an original electric mistress,an original ADA flanger and ofcourse the smallstone.The afore mentioned pedals are all cool in there own way but when it comes to playing live, I would never put them in my signal chain.I have not had a chorus or flanger be a part of my rig for years except now. I now have both in one pedal.If this pedal were stolen I would replace it.

Not an instant gratification pedal in the sense that there are many interactive controls....the most I've ever seen in a chorus and flanger pedal. The manual is comprehensive , though and features easy to read diagrams of some versatile settings. Once you've memorized them and experiment on your own, it's hard to find a bad sound from the pedal. Takes a little getting used to, but becomes very intuitive and easy to operate after a couple of days of use.

The finest chorus and flanger I've ever heard in my life, rack or pedal....period. It will give such a transparent chorus that you have to check if the pedal is even on, to the fattest and thickest most Jimi Hendrix-ian sounds imaginable. I'm gushing, but this thing really is the last word in chorus and flanging. It's the most musical flanger I've ever played through. There is no metallic nature to it at all. I don't like flangers normally, but I can now use this one and am blown away by it. It's so thick sounding that I can't put it into words. The Choralflange will also do one heckuva Leslie sound. This is total excellence. As an effects guy for years who owns tons of pedals, I must say this might be one of the top two or three pedals I've ever encountered. This is no lie.

This pedal will be roadworthy. When you see and feel the size and weight of it and compare it to the other Fulltone products, you will feel confident that this thing could survive Armageddon. The only downside to this pedal for me is that it is a large unit and I like compact effects. That is minor though, given what this thing will do. I believe that Mike Fuller has a picture of the interior wiring of this pedal at his website.

I've been dealing with Fulltone for years because I simply think their pedals are the most tone-oriented units I've found. Mike seems to have up and down days over the phone regarding his congeniality, but I have never had a problem getting him to perform repairs (if necessary) or reasonable modifications on the pedals I get from him. Customer support has never been an issue with me for Fulltone pedals. Buy them in complete confidence.

I look in here at reviews and see many people give pedals a "10" for so many categories. Sometimes I cringe because people give 10s to pedals I absolutely detest. This is a legitimate 10 in my mind, and I would replace it if stolen without question, even though it is very expensive. It doesn't matter what type of music you play because this pedal transcends genres. It is simply musical and you could use it in anything. I have owned many chorus pedals over the years. It can cop the sounds of the old Boss Choruses, the newer TC units, and the previous standard of flangers...the ADA. Those pedals have been rendered to the shelf by the Choralflange. This is warm and fat if you want it....transparent if you need it, and a first-rate professional piece of gear. The Mercedes of chorus and flange pedals. Best in its class by far.
