unlike other wahs with different voice settings all three settings are very usable although the "Jimi" setting is the best and nails the clyde tone and I use it most.

If you know tone and want the best wah out there then get a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe. Robin Trower has used it for 10 years straight so that should say everything right there.

This is a ten, at least for me. I have owned many wahs and this has the best tone and range so far. It sounds very musical with distortion, but it also sounds gorgeous clean, which is not easy to accomplish with other wahs. Very nice indeed. My quest for wah tone is over with this one.

Maybe this wah is not cheap, but considering how much money and frustration I collected over the years with other wahs this is a bargain!!! Buy it!!

Although it's not your standard wah, it's still easy to use. A 3-way style know (Wacked, Jimi, and Shaft), and a 10 way input volume know. It also has an internal bass/gain knob. It's got an LED which most wah's don't have, so that really nice if you can't hear your amp and you need a wah pedal.

It sounds amazing.....if you know how to use it. It has a very wide sweep range, and if you just rock it all the way back and forth, you probably won't like it. You have to train your foot to move less because of the drastic sweep. It can get very ice-picky and very low. If you carefully move your foot, you'll get some of the best wah tones ever. My favorite setting is the Jimi. It models an original Vox Clyde McCoy wah and it sounds really nice. The only thing it lack in my opinion, but you may like that, is that it doesn't sound as vocal as other wahs.

My setup is a Les Paul or Tele, Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah, DIY clean boost, and a Boss Me-50 MultiFX, all into a Traynor YCV50 Blue.

It is probably going to survive the next nuclear war.

I contacted them asking for a manual and they promptly sent an email with it attached.

I'm very pleased with it. The only thing i wish from it is that it had a little bit more of a vocal sounding sweep. Other than that, it is an awesome wah.

It's not that great of a value though. $260-ish is very pricey for a wah. I'm not complaining though because it was given to me for free by a friend of mine.

Very easy, but the Knobs seem to be quite useless.
You can`t get the added distortion off, even if you reduce the Input Volume totally.

I run it in front of a 1987 marshall Silver Jubliee 2550, wich is one of the best Marshalls ever to be built.

I rate this wah to sound bad on it. Totally. The Jimi mode is not as good as it was promised by Fulltone, cause it adds a lot of distortion to the sound, even with the Input Level down all the way.
It doesn`t sound sweet as all, you just can`t find a sweet spot to produce this sugar like " Sweet child o`mine" introsound.
The "Whacked" Mode is more for cleansounds, but also adding a hum and more distortion to the sound. Useless.
The "Shaft" worked best, but was very difficult to navigate, cause if you open it to wide, it sounds messy treble-weighted and if you close it completely, the sound completely vanishes, you won`t hear a sound AT ALL!

I tested with battery and Adapter.

This wah isn`t clean and soft and sweet as promised, it is the whole opposite!!!

It produced the bad sounds with a high reliability.

Had nothing to do with them.

I am on rock guitar for ten years now, i am capable of using gear and using an amp to produce a "healthy" and fitting sound.
This wah never fits at all!
Its much too expensive , due to the three modes which are used to make it a "3 in 1" pedal, but in reality it doesn`t work!!

I lend it to a friend who tested it on his gear and came to the same conclusions. I can`t understand the others here who rated it that good...it isn`t!

Press down, pull up, rock foot back and forth, or set it in one position. That easy. But, then, all wahs are.

Three settings: Wacked, Jimi, Shaft. Wacked sounds a bit modern, Crybaby-From-Hell-ish, with Mu-Tron III rolled in there for good measure. Sounds fantastic with effects. Jimi setting is the absolute best. Shaft isn't my bag, but it's a nice addition.
Running my bass, a bunch of effects before it, and then through a Peavey practice amp, it's everything I want a wah to sound like. Except with the Q-Tron envelope filter; it's actually quite awful.

Never gig it without a backup, but mostly because it's silly expensive, and people might want to steal it.

Build-wise, it's the absolute best wah pedal ever. It has some of the center-of-gravity issues of most wahs, but if I were to attach it to a pedalboard, it would be a moot point.

Never had an issue, and if I were to, I'm not certain I'd contact Fulltone. Mike Fuller is a very busy man, and he doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner.

If this pedal were stolen, I'd be royally screwed. But, it's really expensive, so gigging with it (which I currently don't do) is probably not a smart idea right now. I'd replace it with the very same pedal.

Compared to other similar products - the Teese RMC3, and the Wilson 12-position wah, Wilson wins the price battle, and supposedly the Teese is a more authentic sound. But, the Fulltone actually EXISTS, and it sounds perfect for me.

Couldn't be much simpler.
The deluxe version has a switch to change the sweep, and a volume pot.
Internally there's an adjustment pot as well.

I don't have the manual as I purchased second hand but took all of 5 minutes to get a sound I like.

Downgrading to 9 only because the LED is on the right hand side of the pedal, which you can't see. Such a great idea adding a LED, but kinda pointless where it is. I might get it moved, coz i really like the feature.

i've owned 2 crybaby's and been disappointed in both of them. Adding overdrive to the crybaby just sounded like crap, the sweep was really ordinary.

i can't believe i waited this long to get a fulltone. i came across it in a pawn shop and snapped it up as soon as i saw it.

the adjustable volume is an awesome idea - i've always been frustrated with the crybaby because i'd have to adjust my volume before engaging it. wah always seems to make the output louder.. which i guess makes sense considering wah enhances certain frequencies, so it's probably not that it's overall louder, but just appears so. Whatever the case, the volume adjustment on the fulltone is an excellent feature and means i can set it a bit lower than unity.

true bypass! normally i don't care much about true bypass but wah is notorious for altering tone when switched off.

no popping or clicking when engaging the wah!! finally!!

there is a pop when you change the sweep switch, but only when the unit is engaged. Why would you change that switch when it's turned on anyway?? so no issue there.

built like a brick outhouse.

i opened it up to adjust the internal pot and it's extremely simple inside - all hand wired, i can't see anything going wrong with it.. and even if it did, extremely easy to work on.

the switch is heavy duty and really easy to engage. No more pushing really hard toe down.. the switch on this is much easier to engage.

As yet haven't contacted them.

I'm running a large effects chain, including a fulltone GT-500 which is also fantastic.

I'm a bit of a gear junkie and try out all sorts of stuff.

I can't believe I didn't ditch the crybaby sooner. These fulltone wah's are expensive, but worth it. As it turned out, I picked one up second hand (in perfect condition) for AU$240 which is cheaper than a crybaby anyway.

Very easy to use. The manual explains it all.

The only thing that is a little bit tricky is the trimpot inside. If you turn it for more bass response you have to take care that you do not lose definition on the other side. I am just going a little bit further into bass response then the marked standard setting which is great. Also you have to consider that the volume knob step by step is not increasing that much volume but rather giving more drive to the pedal. If you want a real throaty sound do not turn the volume knob further than 12 o'clock. There are three modes. The Shaft mode is really good for that Shaft Isaac Hayes Sound, but only sounds good with a clean sounding guitar. Jimi mode is unbelievable good. It bites and pumps and the extra long pedal way gives plenty of sweet spots in between. Some people say that the Fulltone Wah is very good but compared to Teese Wahs it would not have enough mids and would not cut through the mix. Well, this is not true at all. If you find the right setting with the trimpot inside and also take care to not overdrive the pedal too much with the volume knob then it is total Wah heaven and the frequencies run from deep bass to throaty mids and biting highs but never shrill. I have played many wahs and still own some. I find that the only wah that is playing in the same league as the Clyde Deluxe is the Teese Picture Wah. But they sound different and that is a matter of taste. The Clyde Deluxe has a certain frequency that just makes you feel completely homesick.
To my ears the Picture Wah does not have this spot but it just sounds very direct like saying "Here I am - so what?"
The third mode is called "Wacked". This gives more mellow bass and does not go to hi that much. It sounds very good with clean sounds.

Along with the Teese Picture Wah this is the best Wah I have ever played. It is very quiete. If you use a compressor you should use it after the wah so it shows all the frequencies. Also I find it better to have distortion pedals after the Wah but boosts like Xotic RC before the Wah.

I am very much convinced of this Wah and give it a great 10!!!!

This Wah works fine. I have the newest version with the new rubber pad on. Mike Fuller also changed something technically with it so there would not be that much noise anymore.

Never dealt with the company. But maybe I should contact Mike just to let him know how great his Clyde Deluxe sounds. Hey we need these guys to go to guitarsound heaven, don't we?

Along with the Teese Picture Wah the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah is the best Wah on the market. They differ in sound and possibilities (as a matter of fact the Teese Wah is just one possibility) but they both sound great!
I have tried almost any other Wah out there. Most are bad and some at least try to sound good.
As an Overall Rating I give the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah a 10!

Hey it`s a wah right? well,yes and to use it all you do is er "stand on it"? well, that is the case,but to get a good tone and sound you have to practice with it!!Best goodam wah I have ever owned and over the 35yrs I have played I have owned/used every one there is ( except a Teese that is ).The manual is good,but doesn`t explain the use of the internal trimmers well enough in my ( humble ) opinion.BUt hey,it is only a wah right? (waka waka )...

With this wah I can get that awseome sweet wah "thang" that SRV used to get and the tone is so clean I can play clean chord work with it all night long.It is not noisy at all and I am using Fender amps with it which can be a bit "hissy" and toppy at times ( Fender twins/Super-Sonic/4x10 Blues Deville )but I love them!! My guitar is a Fender EJ and with this and my amps the Clyde Deluxe gives me wah heaven!! Solo`s are thick and wild just how I like them.

It is built like a TANK so I am 100% sure it will not crumble when I stand on it night after night...I have 3 other wah`s anyway so if it did die on me I have backup...

I only had ( have ) one problem with it which is that it "hums" when it is near power supplies.On my board it is with 100% Fulltone pedals and being powered by a Voodoolabs Pedalpowerplus 2.But when you turn it on,there is a low "hum" that follows the sweep of the pedal.Does`nt do this off the baord though.I contacted the company explaining the problem and was amazed to receive a totaly unhelpful e-mail back that simply said "hey,is it retard day or what!! " (eh? really? - er yes indeed - but I don`t know why!! ).Still have the HUM problem and don`t know what to do about it....mmmmm

I play wah style blues rock.If my Clyde Deluxe was lost I`d want another BUT only once I have sorted the "hum" problem out!!! I have a old 18v Dunlop 535Q which does not hum at all...!!! I wish my Clyde did not hum on my board!!

If you have trouble, all it means is that you don't really know how to use a wah pedal. Rocking it from toe all the way up to all the way down is only one of a gazillion sounds you can get from any good wah pedal. Mike knows this, and this pedal probably won't sound very good if you don't keep it in mind.

AMAZING! I run this with a Les Paul Studio (with Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups) through a Fender Deluxe Reverb RI. This thing just wails. Using it as a filter--perfect. Using it as a hard wah--beautiful. Using it subtly in those hard to find middle of the road sweet spots--GORGEOUS! Actually lets your guitar tone through, which I find VERY rare for a wah. Harmonics all over the place, too. I would probably die from shock if I found a wah that sounded better than this.

I would definitely use it for a gig without a backup. All the components are ultra sturdy. The only reason I didn't give it a ten is because the rubber feet on the bottom will break with abuse (mine did). If you treat your gear better than I do, shouldn't be a problem though. And if you abuse it just as much as me, who needs the rubber feet anyway?

Haven't had to deal with them, and I don't really expect to.

I play vintage-influenced rock, in the vein of Led Zeppelin, Cream, etc. This wah is perfect for that tone so many guitarists spend a lifetime and a fortune looking for. Before, I had a Dunlop Crybaby. It sounded good at first, but stopped doing pretty much anything worth hearing after a year. The Clyde is still going strong (3 years?). And it's not just the sound that makes it superior. An LED in a wah is a godsend. Finally someone had the sense to do it. If it was stolen or lost, I would probably have to rob a bank to get another one but I would definitely want to. This thing is EXPENSIVE, but you actually get what you pay for.

It is very easy to use. The manual is short and to the point. All is explained in both the manual and accompanying Guitar Player Magazine Review; great!

This pedal has TONE! It feels solid & looks great right out of the box. Using it with my JL325 Ric through my Boogie Mk-1 was very musical and liquid in sound and feel. With the 325 Ric and my 1996 Trace-Elliot Velocette was like and Angel garling with Guava nectar. With the Marshall I was in Jimiland. The Blue Angel 4x10 had a voice
close to Stevie Raysville. The Shaft mode sounded very close to my Thomas Chicago CryBaby wah. Infact the Clyde had more range & studio quite. The Wacked mode adds balls to the sound. My Les Paul gold top & Godin Multiac Jazz JA also sounded great with my amps. In the Jimi mode in the studio or stage this pedal has PURE TONE & FEEL!

Compare to my Thomas CryBaby(s)the Clyde is built to last. I had a Roger Mayer Vision wah once and gave my Budda wah to my cusin as a gift. To me, the Clyde Deluxe wah has them all beat. Welded Steel 14 gage box protects the goods. I need no back up with this pedal.

I spoke to Mike Fuller before I purchase this pedal and again after I bought it, both times was a pleasure. Confidents is the word here. A craftsman made this not assembly line.

This unit was made for an experience wah user. It has all the colors needed for todays & yesterdays music. It is built for the pro on road with studio quaility and performance. To get the best out of this package record yourself as you pratice learn the vocabulary ... speak jimi. I have been a wah user since 1969 and now speak this wah vocabulary. The Clyde Deluxe wah makes speaking it easier.

Easy to understand, large knobs, no tools needed to open the pedal or use the internal trim pot. But while the mechanics of using the pedal are simple, dialing in the sound you're after can take a little time.

Two minor complaints: the instructions say to try the internal trimmer in the "2 O'Clock" position. But 2 O'Clock from where? They don't explain the "clock" orientation well. Ultimately, you need to play with the trimmer to get the sound you're looking for.

The LED is on the right side of the pedal and can't be seen if you're pressing with your right foot. Which I'm assuming most of us are. The LED should be on the bottom left of the pedal near your heel (like the Keeley Wahs).

This is a very bright wah pedal with lots of treble. A very distinct, sharp wah sound. It has the biggest sweep of any wah I've tried. I've read other reviews where people have said they hardly hear a wah sound from this pedal. I can only assume their's wasn't working properly or they have chain/signal issues. Mine gives a strong wah sound.

Fender Strat with TX Specials into a Fender Blues Jr. Play blues and look for a fat Strat tone with strong low end.

I was fighting with this pedal a bit trying to get the tone I wanted. The "Shaft" setting, while cool, is something I'd never use. It's off the charts high-end 70's wah. Even the "Jimi" setting was too bright for me. So I'm using the "Wacked" setting with the volume set at 4 and the internal gain at about 70%. This setting fattens up the tone some. It's still a bit bright, but not too bad. If you turn the gain up any higher the pedal goes harmonic.

The sweep of the pedal really is amazing. Way bigger than any other.

True bypass is great, and the pedal is quiet during operation.

I also own a Keeley Vox Mello wah which was even more expensive than the Fulltone. That pedal doesn't have the sweep of the Fulltone but has a more organic wah sound. It wahs without changing the guitar tone much. You can almost leave it on even when you're not wah-ing. The Kelley is also very good if you just want to barely move the wah for subtle tone changes during a song. The Fulltone is different. It kicks up your guitar tone when it's engaged.

So if you want a very distinct wah sound with lots of treble the Fulltone may work for you. If you want a more subtle wah I'd look at something else.

How the hell hard can a wah be?

30 years of playing and the wah has been one of my fav effects the whole time. Very versatile in many different styles.
As far as this pedal is concerned, I find that it is the best wah I've ever played and I've played and owned quite a few. Cry baby, Thomas organ wah face, Morley PWB, JH-1, Dearmond Weeper and I've tried the Teese.

I e-mailed about a problem with a Deja vibe from the same company and got a response the very next day with a fix. I was shocked and sold on the company.

I was kind of surprised to see some of the negatives posted here. I dont normally post unless I feel I can add something. If you can afford one of the best wah pedals made today, try one and you'll buy one. That being said, this wah IS expensive but hey you live once. Right?

Good sounds are there, but my problem with the pedal is that, on mine at least, the wah action seems to take place in only a small portion of the pedal sweep (about one third of the way down), making it difficult to modulate, especially during live shows. The up-to-down pedal sweep goes something like this: nothing, nothing, evrythng, nothing, nothing, nothing. Maybe they're all like this, but I would like it better if the wah effect was easier to modulate over a wider portion of the pedal sweep.

I like the sound I get. I just wish it were easier to get. The 70s porn-vibe wah is easy to get, because it's just strumming muted strings with a quick up-down on the pedal. For solos, though, sometimes I want to hold a note and slowly move through the wah sweep. Easier said than done, though with practice, coordination, and sobriety, it can be done. I rarely have all three.

Somehow, I played guitar for 25 years before getting a wah of my own. Consequently, I can't compare the Clyde Deluxe to others I have worked with. However, based on all of the wahs I have heard over the years, I do like the sound of it better than any others that I can remember hearing.

No problems, unless the condition described above is a sample defect. I don't think it is.

Never dealt with Fulltone, other than the purchase phase. They seemed happy to accept my payments.

If I find a pedal that sounds as good and is easier to modulate, I'll probably switch. However, I don't use it that much anyway, and it's already secured to my pedalboard, so I'll probably keep it.

If you can't figure this one out...sell it and buy a pair of bongos. Plug in, click 'on', move your foot on the pedal, and turn the knobs on the side. If you can't get a GREAT wah sound out of this pedal then read the first sentence again...(that would be the top line of this here paragragh..).

This pedal is easily the most expensive wah on the market (new, not vintage) and there is good reason: sturdy, quality build; top notch custom components; variable 'Q' resonance selector (and more internal 'fine tuning'); LED 'active light'( a first for a wah pedal!); common 9volt ac adapter receptacle. I use this wah first in my chain (custom strat or vintage Les Paul Deluxe--Clyde Deluxe Wah--Prescription Vibe-Unit--Fulltone OCD--AnalogMan Clone Chorus--Ernie Ball Volume pedal (splits to strobotuner and to amp: Splawn Quick Rod Half stack) and I have a Diamond MemoryLane analog delay setting alone in the amps effects loop. The Clyde Deluxe is taking the place of my Budda 'Bud' Wah (which is a cool wah just unreliable) I have had to send the Bud wah in for repairs a few times...and the last straw was when I went to kick it in during my last gig (everyone is expecting this monster guitar solo) and it does nothing! no sound! so I stomp on it a few times and it make this terrible screeching feedback noise (no, i'm not that bad of a guitar player....this was unintended...) this can be embarassing at big gigs :( (bad switch or ???) anyways...the Clyde Deluxe SOUNDS BETTER than the Budda, is reliable when I kick it in, and gives me options as to Wah EQ (Jimi or Whacked) the only useless thing (in my opinion) is the 'Shaft' setting (too thin and shrill). I went to the internal resonance control (inside the pedal, easily visable and accessible, located on the end of the board and can turn by hand, no screw driver needed!) and adjusted it slightly clockwise of where Fulltone set it and I am good to go ! this 'internal knob' adds more low end resonance as you turn it clockwise but be careful not to turn it too far and lose low end definition, the highs or top end seems to not be too effected by this knob, not as obvious anyway (not with my guitars and amp set-up that is...) this will probably vary depending on your guitar/amp/effects set-up so be careful when messing with this knob!. Easily the smoothest wah I have used (and I have used them ALL, except Teese RMC). The pedal runs absolutely quiet in my rig. As for the knuckleheads that can't get a good sound out of this pedal or think that a 'Cry Baby' pedal is better...you're probably having grape cool-aid and spaghetti O's for your favotite dinner tonight... so move along.

Mil-spec wah pedal (look it up: MIL QU-A-LI-TY). This is the biggest reason why I got it (and am a little surprised at the great sound quality and options...)

I have tons of Fulltone stuff only one small fluke problem with my TTE (which was fixed and returned promptly) and otherwise flawless...

Expensive? Yep... Worth it? yep! If you play for a living or like top quality sound and performance this is the wah pedal to get...if not, go get a cheese-dog, ear piercing, noise making, made in china, unreliable 50 dollar cry baby pedal (and enjoy the spaghetti O's!)

Ease of use:

It's a wah wah! You only need to step on it right?? Wrong! In this sense it's easy but if you think it's gonna let you just do full sweeps up and down then think again. I like to strum a chord and slighty adjust the pedal to that sweet, oh so sweet, sound which lies somewhere in the middle of the sweep. I then try to keep my ankle from bending at all and just rock ever so slightly with the beat I'm jamming on and my ears have never been happier. Each setting has different sweep attributes but I really never get what I want by full up and down sweeps, like you'd do with a crybaby or possibly a morely (hated em). Rating is based on fact that you do need to get the "feel" of this bad boy and at first regular wah users may not get the goods out of it.

Best I've played. Changed my life. I've had every wah and most sucked. Didn't like the crybabies (w/o fasal), didn't like morley, didn't like buddha but was ok, didn't like anything really but damn, I had to find that wah sound I was looking for. Old vox's were hit an miss and the new ones blew chunks. This was hit. A damn good wah and it better had been! Expensive but I'd give away my daughter for it. Also must recommend battery operation. DO NOT use the 9v as this thing was not designed based on this type of power. In fact, I find that batteries that are around half way used or less really allow this thing to get it on~

2 Years now NO problems. You have to see the guts of this thing, to put in a battery which is easy enough and it is a beutiful speciment of how quality is arrived at.

If you're happy with what you have then try one of these and then see, if you're like me and found most other lower range mass produced wah's just don't have enough "play" or don't have that REAL wah sound and you know it then get this.

Very easy to use. Very well desined treadle and extended sweep. Volume control and led. Lots of adjustment for tone and feel. Nice.

Smoother, richer tone than your typical wha however, this translates into a more subtle effect which you may perceive as almost no effect at all. Also there is an annoying gain bump in the lower frequencies that is more pronounced with some distortion than with a clean sound, but I was unable to dial out. I have an old crybaby wha that I've been using for 25 years that sounds much better to my ears.

It appears to be BUILT!

I have no experience dealing with this company. I have little time or motivation to pursue upgrades, service, etc. Either the unit works for me or not. If it aint happenin', I get rid of it.

I have a student with a $95 dunlop wha that sounds fine...not as mellow or rich, but I'm not sure mellow and rich is what you want in a wha. It's a rather obnoxious effect to begin with and perhaps it should be.

Two outside controls and one internal trimmer, couldn't get much easier than that.

Awesome wah sound Mr Fuller has going with the Clyde Deluxe. The throw is a touch longer than the "classic" vox/dunlop type of wah casings which enables a bit more pot travel, personally I really like this feature. Nice sweep from lows to highs with a very vocal type of wah tone.

Three differently voiced wah settings, "Jimi" (based on the 60's Clyde McCoy), "Wacked" (which has a darker tone with more bass response) and "Shaft" (which has a brighter tone throughout the wah's sweep). The prior two descriptions are being compared to the Jimi setting.

It plays well with fuzz and doesn't get too shrill/piercing/hissy in the toe down position which is a bonus for me. Real nice "wah" sound no matter if on the low E or high E throughout the length of the neck. I'm very very pleased with the sound of this pedal.

All Fulltone pedals are built to very high standards, the Clyde Deluxe is no exception.

Throughout the past five years I've had nothing but quick and professional responses from Mr Fuller as I've owned/own a few of his pedals. Support has been perfectly acceptable and very business like.

Couldn't be happier with this wah pedal. I've been playing many years and have had numerous wah wah's including, Dunlop/Morley/Teese. The Clyde Deluxe suits my needs the best, it melds with my equipment (Strat/NMV Marshall) perfectly and the inclusion of the longer sweep, exterior controls, internal bass/gain adjustment, LED and ac jack placement on the "proper" side just add to the overall pleasure of this wah pedal. I mostly play in a classic rock style and would replace it immediately if stolen or lost.

The pedal is very easy to use.

I had an older fulltone wah that sounded great. I gave it to my cousion and thought I could just order another one. I was wrong. I received it about 6 months ago and it is no where near the same pedal. There is no sweep range. I thought it might be broken but it came direclty from Mike at fulltone. I click it on and there are minimal highs. It just doesnt really "wah". There is hardly any range..

It seems made well but quality control seems to have changed

I'm playing this pedal with a 50th anniversary Stat through a Marshall AVT50. I foind the pedal to give an absolutely fantastic wah sound. It's also hard to describe the wah, but suffice it to say you can get the Clapton/Hendrix sound , as well as that Shaft funk sound from this pedal. I have not found any noise problems with the pedal / am running it off of the battery and life of the battery seems to be acceptable

This pedal is built like a tank, I don't see it breaking easily/ I don't play out, but if I did, I don't think I'd be worrying about having a back-up

I've been playing for 36 years, blues and classic rock. The other pedals I currently use are the digitech reverb and the boss acoustic simulator. I've owned several wah pedals and this one is clearly the best made. I know some people bitch about the price, but you truly realize after a while you get what you pay for. If you can get your hands on one of these, you won't be dissappointed. I'm hooked on fulltone products and hope to add a uni-vibe and fat-boost pedal in the near future. The only thing which would have been nice on the pedal is if you could have adjusted the trim pot from the outside without having to remove the cover. With that said, I am very pleased with the sounds I can get and probably wouldn't fool around with that that much

Straightforwards, especially once you realize that the Volume Control is actually a variable INPUT control, allowing you to overdrive the inductor for FAT harmonic squelching wah tones!

Unbelievable, as an owner of many Vintage wahs over the years (Vox, Dallas-Arbiter,and Jen)I can say with some degree of authority (unlike some of these clown-reviews recommending CryBaby wahs over the CLYDE ;) that the CLYDE DLX is the real deal.....many real deals, actually, depending on where it's set!

never a problem, well, I did throw it out of adjustment, but Mike Fuller was fantastic and helpful in teaching me how to adjust it back into righteousness.

i totally agree with the fellow from sweden : i thought mine was broken when first tried it ! weak, no sweep range to speak of - makes me wonder what a wah pedal is supposed to do .... sounds like an on/off switch when you sweep the pedal, hardly any gradual change of tone. i am sooo disappointed.

i emailed Fulltone describing my impression and 2 days later i got the answer : "sounds like a vintage Vox Wah ...."

i can't be objective here - i think it sounds not good, is not very usable and not as flexible as advertised. i will go and try my luck with a Teese Wah. i have several other Fulltone products, all of which work to my fullest satisfaction ( no pun intended ).

Pretty easy. Two knobs. One for volume, one for three sweep presets.
One internal trimpot for increse/decrese wah sweep somewhat.
Two points minus for the internal trimpots, even though this doesn't bother me at all.

Even though this is the no doubt the most expensive wah there is to buy on this earth I impulsively emptied my wallet to get one. I had read so much about this wah that it HAD TO BE GREAT. I never tried one myself, I just ordered it, thinking "this must be the best there is".
After waiting for about a week, my special delivery finally arrived. Took it home and plugged it in and my world turned upside down.
My first thought was "Is this broken?"
Oh sure, it was quiet like expected but it didn't really wah.

1.This pedal has VERY LOW HIGHS! When pushing pedal down to max the sweep didn't go much higher than the bypassed tone, believe it or not.

2.The Q PEAK IS TOO LOW. It just isn't effect enough, i.e. like too much dry signal.

3.The "Jimi" setting was the only setting that was actually usable. The "Shaft" setting was a joke. The sweep is so narrow and low Q you actually have to listen for the sweep to hear it.
The "Whacked" setting was nothing whacky about it. More like "A drunken bafoon". The difference between "Jimi" and "Whacked" is that whacked setting sweeps lower in frequency. So low that in a mix it sounds like the guitar dissapear back and forth. Ridiculus!
I compared the highs on each setting to eachother and they were EXACTLY THE SAME.

As I said, the Q and Highs are low. I'll try explaining with a very basic ASCII picture:

Listen to the song "GIMME A SIGN" with RYAN ADAMS. This is what the Fulltone Clyde wah sounds like ("Jimi" setting). I'm not saying that Ryan uses a Fulltone wah, but this is how they sound.
For someone who wants the real deal, this thing just doesn't cut the cake.

Conclusion on sound quality: NOT GOOD AT ALL. Three points for low noise.

This pedal is very well built. Heavy and sturdy. Easy to adjust the hardness/softness of the pedal joint.
What I didn't like is that the knobs feel kinda wussy, and the VOLUME KNOB TURNS TOO EASY. It's like, you shouldn't install a cardoor from an old Toyota on your Sherman tank.
Two points minus for the knobs. Otherwise a very well built unit.

Have never dealt with Mike Fuller.

After comparing it to a Cry baby I took it back to the store. I actually had them check if the unit was 100% ok, cause of its weak performance.
Nothing was wrong with the unit.

My final conlusion reads:
IF YOU WANT TO SWEEP YOUR TONE A LITTLE, BUY THE FULLTONE CLYDE, BUT IF YOU WANNA WAH, BUY SOMETHING ELSE!

I guess you read this and think, "Why would I listen to this random guy when so many others agree to that this wah rocks?".
I'll just say, don't do the same mistake as me and buy it without trying it thoroughly.

Very easy to use. For me, much easier than dialing in a good sound with a Crybaby "variable Q". 3 Settings make it really easy to sound like a Pro. Whacked is my personal favorite.

I bought this pedal primarily because it was true bypass (using with other full-bypass pedals), and if you have the $250 or so and you're serious about playing it's well worth the money. It just sounds so........cool. Using the whacked setting it transitions very nicely from your straight tone to the wah without a noticable sound difference. It makes the pedal VERY usable on lots of songs besides just an obvious wah song (if that makes sense). It really kicks ass for rock or solo's. You can rock it slightly and find this sweet spot that cuts but at the same time is not harsh, then move it just a hair and you get this awesomely cool (controllable) harmonic feeback type sound. Awesome. Great tool for any pedal chain. I gave it a 10 because I am not very good with a wah and this thing makes me sound like I am!

I never have a backup and really don't think I'll have a problem.

I use it with a Strat, an ES335, and a Les Paul through a bunch of pedals hooked into a switcher. My amp is a blackfaced '74 Fender Pro Reverb. This wah is awesome. The "wacked" sound gets a great WOW sound similar to an envelope filter or Buddah wah. The "jimi" is top notch traditional wah, like a Vox Clyde. The "shaft" sound is cool, my least favorite of the 3. The volume control is definitely a key feature. There is also an internal bass responce control that I haven't even used, 'cause the thing already sounds dope. I have not tried Teese's wahs, so I cannot compare, but I like this one, so I don't care. I swear I didn't mean for that to rhyme!

So far so good. I bought this from a friend. It's a '02. He had no problems with it and neither have I. This thing is built like a tank. Much sturdier than your average wah.

If lost or stolen I would buy it again. These things are definitely expensive, but in this case "you get what you pay for".

This is no Dunlop - you need to mess around with the level control and choose which eq curve you like best. I can't really imagine bending over too many times during a set to change the curve so I've chosen to primarily use the throatier curve, AKA 'wacked'. Once it's set up, it delivers.

I use several guitars: G&L Invader, Brian Moore i9.13, Line 6 Variax, '65 SG, '65 Strat, etc. I'm now using a Marshall half-stack with a pedal board of the Clyde, Toadworks Meat, Analog Man TS-808, Keeley Compressor, and a Visual Sound H2O. The Clyde Deluxe is one of the quietest components in my chain. Personally, I really like the 'wacked' setting since, with the 808 my sound can be a bit brittle with the typical Dunlop Wah curve. I appreciate the growling low end and volume boost without killing the neighbor's dogs.

I believe you could use this pedal to jack up the foundation of your house, anchor your boat, or take out a terrorist. It's HEAVY DUTY. No problems with it over the last month that I've had it.

Never had to contact them - but from the comments of other reviewers and the vibe on the website, I don't doubt that there is some attitude. Don't know why some music-industry types want to be that way, but if you dealt with musicians every single day . . .

If I'm going to buy a pedal, I'm going to look for the very best that money can buy. I'm not interested in the cheap, poorly built, noisy, or ugly sounding. This pedal meets or exceeds my expectations in all ways. It's an heirloom, soon-to-be-vintage-coveted-class piece of equipment.

Very easy. Plug and play. A wider sweep than most so that takes a bit getting used to.

I use this in my small pedal board setup with a Boss Tuner and Supa-Trem straight into my old faithful, '65 Super or whatever rental gear I'm using. Usually a Deville or Bassman. Guitar wise I used everything from a Goldtop Les Paul to Strats and Teles. It's a little noisy but all Wahs are. With the different settings and drive I can get ANY sound I need or want. It sounds better with a battery but I'm lazy so I use and adapter but only I can tell.

This thing will be on stage with me for the next 20 years. I DON"T NEED NO SINKING BACKUP!

I hate large Corps. I can never get a person with a brain to talk to me. I try to use gear from guys like Mike who ANSWER the phone themselves. He is a great guy who will listen to you and help you. Thanks Mike.

I play American roots music (blues, soul, and funk) and have been doing it for 15 years as a professional. Over time I have found out that you get what you pay for. I had an original Thomas Organ wah that just sucked and I sold it for a profit! The Clyde Deluxe is just the top of the heap. I tried many and just could not find one that even came close. I find myself looking forward to playing even more because of it and have entered new creative areas because of it. Thanks Mike for making a killer product. I am a believer.

I find it very easy to use i always used the Hendrix setting.The manual is good also.Its very quiet.

My setup is clyde-wah,ts808re-issue,70sfuzz,mini-deja vibe,octafuzz,=fender vibroverb.And get fat Tone/Hendrix,SRV)plus my own style tone its just great.plus i switch amps sometimes to a bassman or my super reverb.

This, for me, is the mother load of all Wah-Wah pedals. Crisp definition, quiet operation, consistent performance and solid controllability. I never imagined I could control my wah-tones as well as I can with the help of this pedal. The Clyde DeLuxe will make your guitar cry like never before. I'm so glad I traded in my Bad Horsie II in favor of this masterpiece.

So far so good. Solid Construction and well taken care-of. I would definitely use it at a gig without backup... if anything happens - just don't use a wah! Ughhh... but that's very unlikely with this unit, I'm confident.

Never had to deal with Fulltone.

This pedal is INTEGRAL to my rig. I have found my perfect amp (Bogner Ecstasy), my perfect guitar (EBMM Axis with DiMarzio mod), and now my perfect wah-wah pedal. I play mostly rock music, however this pedal's capabilities will push the envelope of any style you throw at it, and believe me, my colleagues and I have tried!

Best wah sound i have ever messed with.
I have owned a Dunlop Crybaby, Dunlop JIMI HENDRIX Wah. I have even got to mess around with the old Colorsound wahs. Which I am very happy to say is recreated perfectly with the WHACKED setting. I love all of the settings but Whacked is my favorite. It has great low end and a very vocal WWOOOOWWWW sound. NICE!!!! I use a 74 strat strung with twelves into a Boss TU2-->Ibanex TS9-->Fulltone Fulldrive 2-->Boss OC2-->Fulltone Mini DejaVibe-->Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah-->Super Reverb. I use the TS9 for my regular playing because I can control it very well with my guitar volume. I use the Fulldrive 2 when I'm feeling nutty and what to get nasty with a solo.

This is built like a tank. The only thing I am not happy with is that the knob that picks your wah sound is only held on by a little screw. It came off. I am faced with the reality that I am going to have to carry a small flathead screwdriver to gigs in case it comes off. Pardon me but a $260.00 wah pedal should NOT have a part that just falls off. That really is the only thing that is not cool about it.

I have spoken with Mike several times. I bought a Mini Deja Vibe and he was very helpful. The switch was cutting out and he replaced it, gave me a free upgrade, AND covered the shipping.

It's pretty straightforward to use. It's a wah.. how hard can it be? The manual says basically the same thing as the website.

This pedal does sound very nice but it also did add noise to my blues junior amp when the wah was turned on. It sounded like RF noise which in my opinion is something Mr. Fuller could have taken care of considering the $470 CAN price tag.
So far i've gotten good sounds from it playing it straight into the HI-Z input on my digital Zoom recorder. I've gotten really spot on sounds playing it with digital distorion, reverb, clean.. etc. Anything noiseless is good. This pedal seems to be distortion picky. I'll go as far as saying it sounds like crap playing it through my fender blues junior overdriven..(Unless you're playing with the wah pedal just UP or just DOWN all the time.. in which case the pedal also does something nice to the sound). When i play it straight into my recorder it's pretty much dead silent EXCEPT that i can hear slight STATIC noise at the point where the pedal's tone transition is the steepest. It's not much static but again.. this is the most expensive wah pedal out there.. there's shouldn't be the slightest bit of static. Other than that, this pedal seems to have that special something, it has a good hint of that liquid watery sound that many pedals don't have.

I can depend on this wah pedal. It's build quality is good. And i doubt that it would break down very often.

I haven't had to deal with full tone yet, but there is one thing i'd like to point out which nobody else has and this is something that pisses me off-
On the Fulltone website, they state that they use quality parts inside their pedal, including WIMA capacitors. Well as soon as I bought it, I opened it and guess what? Not one single WIMA cap in there! I myself am into DIY audio and no these are NOT Wima caps! So basically the fact that their website says they use Wima caps is a big lie. The pedal still sounds good but i bet it would sound better if they actually used the components they claim to use.

Besides the few little quirks this still is a nice sounding pedal. If you are willing to pay the extra money to get that extra touch in sound you should try it out. If not forget about it. This pedal aint the holy grail, and i don't even know if such a thing exists.

Brand new Clyde Deluxe, manufactured in February of 2004. The ease of use factor with this wah pedal is great. Everything is labeled clearly on the switches, and additional directions about possible internal adjustments are found in the manual.

Having just received the wah today, I inserted it between my Parker Nitefly and my Mesa IIC+. The pedal was wonderfully quiet in this setup. The sound was just fabulous! I was so impressed with how the effect did not alter the "core" of my guitar/amp sound, instead delivering a wah effect that was simply organic to the sound. A while back I tried a Morely pedal, but discovered that it radically brightened and thinned the sound of my instrument to an unacceptable degree. And while a couple of reviewers noted below that the throw of the pedal was uncomfortably long, I didn't find it that way. It feels like just the right amount -- not too much, with plenty of room to really make the effect cry. All modes just sounded "classic," excelling at nailing the Hendrix/Clapton sound. The sound with my lead channel was superb! One last comment: this pedal really has that magic feel and sound characteristic of the highest quality gear. After I got playing I couldn't put my guitar down or shut the effect off. This is one great pedal.

Well-designed and well-built. Heavy duty construction. Unless there turns out to be some unusual manufactoring defect, I highly doubt I'd ever have a problem with this piece of gear.

Mr. Fuller has been both courteous and helpful in the once or twice I've emailed him (about the Chorus/Flange unit). Can't do better than that.

I would echo the comment of one reviewer who suggested that the on/off LED be on the left side of the pedal as opposed to the right; as a right-footed wah player, I'd tend to agree with that. Other than that, this pedal has, to my ears, covered the wah-wah effect in spades. Familiar with the quality of Fulltone products through owning the Chorus/Flange unit, and having read the many positive comments in this list, I was expecting a well-made, great-sounding pedal. As it is, the Clyde Deluxe easily met, and exceeded, my expectations. This is one great piece of gear!

I say 9 cause there's more to it than your average wah. But in a way, the added features actually make it more usable.... especially the volume control.

I play a godin lgx-sa, mesa dc-3, fulltone clyde deluxe, sans amp gt-2, boss delay, boss tunner. It's very quiet for a wah when on and hardwired true bypass when off... THIS IS THE BEST WAH I'VE EVER HEARD.
The wacked setting is great for solo work.... it keeps the bottom end which no other wah I've ever played has been able to do.
I use the jimi setting cause I do a lot of rhythm work with it. It's worth every penny of the $260 I spent on it.

like a rock.... i take care of my stuff so the only backup I've ever used is a amp backup..... but never for effects (although most companies build cheap crap that falls apart), and not for this pedal.

Gospel, rock, randb, and soul are my genres. I play guitar to pay the bills so I need to be able to cop a lot of sounds with the equipment that I have. I would suggest this pedal to anyone that uses a wah.... DON'T GO CHEAP ON A WAH!!! A crappy one will suck and drain the sound right out of your rig. True bypass is the truth... and this pedal has it. It's quiet, rich, it has a huge sweep range, and the pedal is fully adjustable.... from the sound to the feel of it. I've never heard a teese rmc wah but I can't imagine them sounding any better than this one. THe volume control is worth the extra dough. I'll never live without one again.

The best wah wah I ever owned. Easily the equal of my old Made In Italy Vox Wah from the 60's and easier to use. It's easier because the longer throw lets me squeeze out those notes.

Been using it with a Fulltone '69 Pedal driving it and this combination NAILS the tone Hendrix got on his first 2 or 3 albums.

I use only the "Jimi" setting on the Clyde Deluxe. Never the "Wacked" or the "Shaft" setting...or whatever they're called. I already have a 70's Crybaby if I want to sound like Wah Wah Watkins...I want to sound like Jimi, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. It sound skiller through any amp I've tried it with...mostly old tweed and blackface Fenders and my '54 Tele and '63 Strat.

I expect it to be very reliable. Mike Fuller knows his stuff!

Like I said in my review of the Fulltone '69 Pedal, Mike likes to work on his products and not waste time on the phone. But I got everything I needed from him.

Worth every penny. I like the volume control feature too, on the Clyde Deluxe. I like this pedal so much I'm buying a Fulltone Wah Wah kit and plan to gut my 70's Crybaby and turn it into a Clyde. I probably could have saved a few bucks and just bought the standard Clyde without the two other Wah Wah tone options the Deluxe has...but I'm totally satisfied.

This pedal is self explanatory. Great for when used for gigs as well as recording.

Lets talk about the best tone possible for any modern day or vintage wah pedal. This pedal speaks its own language. I use it with a ampeg Jet II for recording and a Fender Bandmaster head/ Marshall 4x10 for live performances. People have asked how I get that tone of a wah pedal? Unique as they come.

Does not need a backup. Dependable.

Have not dealt with the company. Have not needed any repairs.

Wow. I was using a Morley pro series 2 wah before I got this. It's like comparing one of those little plastic wind up cars they used to give to kids at McDonalds to a Ferrari. The mode switch doesn't change the sound a whole lot, but the subtle difference is there.

You could maybe break the little cover over the LED if you hit it really hard, but you can buy those for like 2 cents at most electronics stores.

Haven't dealt with Fulltone directly. Bought it from Terry's guitars (Canadian distrubutor). They were great.

"Wacccaaa waccaaa wac", this wah rules. I've never heard anything so awesome sounding. I feel guilty for the poor soul who buys my old Morley. Don't try to smash yourself in the head with this pedal and then sue. The included documentation clearly states: "Fulltone Musical Products Inc. is not responsible for injuries incurred while using our products"

It's a Wah, step on it to activate the sound, then sweep the filter to get the sound you want. The Deluxe has 3 modes. The Jimi mode is the same as the Clyde standard wah. Great Vintage sound. The other 2 modes are Shaft, which shifts things toward the brighter end, and last is whacked, which is alot like Jimi, except the highs go a little higher, and lows go lower. You can have a lot of fun with this mode if you are a 70's funk fan. Bootsy? There is an adjustable volume pot as well to fine tune your volume level. Great features.

I use various strat style guitars into a Fulltone Fulldrive2, Ultimate Octave, Deluxe Clyde, Supa-Trem, Choralflange, Ernie Ball Volume into various tube amps. In the effects loop I run an Ibanez ADL and a Boss DD3. I have had wah pedals for many years, and they can be one of the greatest creative tools for a guitarist, but I always found myself rarely using my wah pedals when playing live. I just did not like the tone. Something was missing. They quacked and ducked, but in a not so musical way. The only ones I had tried prior to this were Crybaby, Vox and the 535Q, so I never tried Teese, Budda, etc. But once I plugged into this at Guitar Center, that was it. Now when I step on my wah pedal I know what I'm going to get. A great sound. I usually keep my amp clean when using the wah and use the fuzz on the Ultimate octave for dirt. It also sounds good with the FD2 but I really enjoy using it with the UO. I also use a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power2 on my board, and I power the Clyde with one of the SAG outputs, so I run it at slightly below 9V. Definitely experiment with your placement of the wah also. The manual suggest Wah-Fuzz, but to me my best sound is attained with the Wah after my Overdrive or Fuzz.

I have faith in Fulltone building a quality product. I do gig without backups. With Fulltone's true bypass, if the pedal competely dies, it still doesn't affect your chain when off.

Really have never dealt with the company. From what I have read on this site Mr. Fuller appears to respond quickly.

Blues, Funk, Rock and a little jazz. A great pedal. Every thing I had read about this pedal said it would be great, and they were correct. Fulltone explains how they use the highest quality components and what affect not using them can have on a pedal's sound. I believe them. I'm sure if you search through enough Crybaby's or Vox wahs, you will find good sounding units, but it will be trial and error. I could have saved myself that frustration years ago had I known about the Clyde. Highly recommended!

Very easy to coax funky wahs out of this pedal. There is a usefull manual included - read it! Gives info on how to teak more bass and gain if needed. It also gives battery types recommended, care warnings, etc.

My rig consists of a prs custom 24 > clyde deluxe > voodo lab sparkle drive > fulltone distortion pro > maxon ad80 delay > mesa boogie dual recto 50 watt combo. There is a pop noise heard if you switch the tone setting knob while plugged in. But the Wah tones are crisp, yet warm at the same time. A very "funky" pedal, even with the overdrive cranked up.

seems to be built to last, We'll have to wait and see. I'm very carefull with my gear, so if it doesn't hold up it ain't because of abuse.

Nic eaddition to my pedalboard. Adds a dynamic sound to my funk / r&b / rock sound. I wish it weren't painted white, but that isn't a major point of concern. Also, the light indicating the pedal is in use SHOULD BE on both sides of the pedal, It does allow me to shape more creative ideas.

It's a wah pedal with 3 settings and a 10 stage volume control (chicken head knobs) there's also a cool LED light on the right hand side (would have been nicer an the left). That's all there is to it.

I use it with two other pedals (Klon and Maxon AD80) into a Matchless clubmann head and matching 1x12' speaker and Clarke Tyger 3x10' with reverb. It sounds like a classic clyde M on the "Jimi" setting smooth and very musical. Doesn't mess with your tone. This is a true bypass wah and I'm greatfull for that. The other two settings are also fun to play with "Shaft" gives that 70's porno sound and "Wacked" sounds similar to the "Jimi" setting but has more lows and highs to it ,also sounds fatter allround.

Built well, I gig with it 3 times a week in a blues band. No problems so far, been using it for a couple of months. I used to have an Teese RMC 3 wah and one night the switch just crapped out on me. I changed the switch and sold it the next week. That's not to say it wasn't a great sounding wah and switches do go, just a fact of life. I was getting sick of it anyway (Used it for 2 years). the flexability was great with the Teese but just a big hassle to deal with changing all those settings. The Clyde Deluxe gives enough versitility for me, sounds silky smooth and doesn't puke like the Teese.

incredable sounding wah! very versitile and looks very cool too! I've been playing for over 18 years, I've has played and owned lots of wahs and never really felt I can keep one forever. The search has finally ended for me with this one though, the Clyde Deluxe kicks!

Very simple setup and use. Two rotary switches on the side of the wah, one to select any of three filter modes (Jimi, Shaft, and one other), the other to set a gain boost when the wah is engaged. Internal trim pot (set by Mike to his preferred setting) changes filter characteristics for all three modes.

The pedal has a very smooth feel to it, a wider throw than most wah pedals, and the switch is "just right." Not too hard to hit, not so easy you turn it off by accident.

In a word, just sick. I've used a bunch of different wah pedals, and I use them enough that I break them. I decided to get the Clyde Deluxe after hearing it in a boutique shop. The "Jimi" setting is everything you have ever wanted in a sixties wah. The "Shaft" setting is similar but thinner, and also fantastic. Whisper quiet self noise for a wah, true hardware bypass when it's out of the chain.

The setup I use with this is very simple. Guitar (reissue strat or LP goldtop with P-90s) > Clyde Deluxe > Fulltone Soul Bender > Big Briar Analog Delay > Top Hat Club Deluxe. Every now and then I'll throw in some other modulation pedal, but that's usually it. In this setup, the Clyde plays woderfully. The gain boost is a nice addition, and it sounds great on anything from squeaky clean rhythm parts to really squawking lead stuff.

The only downside is that the pedal pops like a mofo when the mode switch is changed. Turn the amp off or on standy before doing that. I'm lopping off one point just for that, but to state again, I have never heard a wah sound this good before in my life.

Tough looking case. Don't know for sure, but seems built with a long life in mind.

An achievement in was design and production. I bought it with the idea that I'd use it for long enough that it would be cheaper than buying three sucky wahs for $100 and wearing them out. In between now and then I'll also have better wah sounds. There's nowhere that a wah would be used that this thing would not do as well or better than any wah ever made. It sounds great on non guitar sounds as well, like a Rhodes or a synth output.

Turn it on and set the mode. Love that this pedal has a volume knob, more wahs should have them. Manual? Who needs a manual? That's half the fun, turning knobs and seeing what kind of cracks and pops you can get out the thing, fortunately, mine does not crack or pop. Internal trim real easy to set, I dialed in a little more bass for the Jimi setting

No other wah I've experienced has sounded as good as the Clyde series from fulltone. I like the Jimi setting (original Clyde) the best. From my old playing days with mass produced things i'm still a little "treble shy" so shaft was a little useless to me although very good and not harsh (surprisingly). I found that the whacked setting worked best for chordal work and the jimi worked best for solos. all in all the best wah of them all (IMO). and since I'm proud of my setup, here it is:

I know, I got a deal. THis pedal is very good and worth the extra money for the volume knob. If I wasn't going to get the deal I got, I would have gotten a regular Clyde. The other setings are nice but not needed. Still, one fine little pedal

Very easy to use. In this pedals revision ,over the origional,there's been a 10 position volume level knob added as well as a rotary selectable tunings labled "Jimi" "Shaft" and "Wacked". Just twist some knobs til you get it right, how hard is that?

This wah sounds great outta the box. The "Jimi" setting is voiced after a Clyde wah and is also the standard sound for the origional FT Clyde Wah. There's a whole lotta features here for the money. Sounds very warm and sweet, just packed with character! Each setting has a very distinct character also. "Jimi" can be used for all the classic rock tunes you can imagine "Wacked" has tones of uses Rock, blues and much more...the shaft setting is loads of serious fun! Great for messing aroung with and puts out some serious "Porno" vibe. All in all aech setting is astonishing in it's own way. More importantly: this wah ineracts very well with other pedals. I use it infront of an FT FD2, FT supa-Trem, SIB Varidrive, Vintage Rat etc..into a Mesa Rectover 50 and the pedal just smokes through the distortions like nobodies business! Has tons of attitude and smooth tone response. very quite too...I noticed that Fulltone wahs ,over all others, have a great huge sweep and a very generous variety of sweet spots! This is definately a Pro tool, it's so obvious.

This is probably the Wah Jimi would have naturally gravitated to if he were around today. Solid perfromence, versitility and Beutiful sweet tone is what makes this one a winner! P.S. The RMC stuff I tried is also georgious but the Fulltone won out hands down for me.

Bought mine (#125) off the web site in Jan 2002. Longer throw and more frequency range than typical wah. Takes a little getting used to, but allows much greater control over frequency sweep or finding that "sweet spot." Ten step variable boost function, and three modes: Wacked (extended bass response), Jimi (normal), and Shaft (extended treble response.) Internal trim knob for adjusting resonance. Manual is brief but adequately covers all functions.

PRS Custom 24 / Fender Strat Plus / Fender American Deluxe Tele -> Fulltone Cylde Deluxe -> SIB Varidrive -> Digitech GSP 21 Legend -> variety of amps. Absolutely silent operation - the switching is silent on my unit, so the previous reviewer may have had a defective unit. Wah sound is the best I've ever heard - I have a Dunlop Crybaby, and the Fulltone wins hands down. Shaft mode is a bit shrill for my taste and setup, but the Jimi mode nails the classic scream, and the Wacked mode is wonderful - smooth, warm, fat - worth the price of admission by itself, IMHO.

Looks to be built very well. Fulltone equipment has a very good reputation for being well-built.

Playing 15 years, rock, blues, jazz mostly. This thing is great for rock or blues - really captures that classic sound, in a smooth-working and flexible package. A bit on the pricey side, but I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Fairly easy to use; definitely a quicker response throughout the range than your typical Vox or Crybaby wah so that takes a little getting used to. Interestingly enough, even though this pedal seems to have a faster response sweep then the range of sounds produced is of greater dynamic tone and range. Won't take you long to get used to the difference.

Sound during play is incredibly smooth yet 'wah quacky' precise and sonically unequalled in my experience. There is a slight pop (at least during the first 10 minutes of my use) when turning on/off; might need to be filtered or have a chord played over the change if studio recording (or maybe my unit is bad? Hope not since I know that Mike has a solid reputation for quality and it sounds great otherwise).

It's a Fulltone product; they're indestructible. I took the footplate off this unit and inspected the assembly/wiring. Good stuff, solid and obviously designed to fit the space and provide bracing for the interior parts. No backup needed here.

This is the new FT Clyde Deluxe Wah pedal. Mine was hand built Feb. 2002. I would immagine there aren't a whole wack of them in cerculation as of yet but they will be so look out for them... anyway, it's a wah pedal, easy to use as wahs go. It's an origional custom enclosure (same as the Orig. FT clyde) with some new features. The Clyde Deluxe does very well in this setup. It's smooth sounding and very tasty. It hits the Rat pedal and just screams with the sweetest sounds. The 3 settings are very distinct and extreemely usable. They all sound beutiful. Origionally I was out looking for a Teese RMC3 ,and over the past month, I've tryed tons of pedals (BUDDA, VOX RI, MORLEY, DUNLOP, Teese RMC1,2 and 3) The Teese stuff is very nice indeed but the FT Clyde just sounded sweeter to my ears,it has a sweep that is natural and much more usable for my needs (Blues and classic rock) Really cuts through overdrives like a hot knife through butter. The addition of the volume adjustement really helps. All the flexability that's built into the FTCD wah is certainly acheivable with the Teese RMC3 but who really has time to fiddle with all those peramiters. The FTCD Wah allows the most potent adjustements to be made an the fly...This wah pedal is a God sent for me. Fulltone makes the nicest sounding wahs I've heard.

I must say: This wah costs an ass load. But if you really look at it your paying for a phanominal wah experience. A tone that is unmatched by any other. The built quality is impecable. I'm usually very scaptical about dropping hard earned cash on units like this but I thought about it this way: How many Dunlop Cry Baby's have I gone through over the years? TOO MANY! This wah is the King of the Hill, The Cats ass and what ever you want to call it, it's a keeper!
