Everything clean & cut. Two toggle switches, chorus/vibrato w/ the option for modern & vintage type effect on each. Volume & Intensity chicken head style knobs & a giant rubber speed knob in the lower right corner for control w/ your foot. Everything you could expect & ask for from a Univibe style effect.

Sound Quality : 10
My set-up is Fender Custom Nocaster >Fulltone Deja Vibe > Maxon AD-80 > Maxon OD808 > Boss Metal Zone > Boss TU-2 > Fulltone Fat Boost > Fender Vibroverb Reissue. In my opinion the "Vintage Chorus" set-up is the ultimate sound I have heard from any effect of any kind "Ever"!! The "Vibe" is unmatched & it is probably the most versatile pedal I have ever used. It is really easy to get your own signature sound because of the wide range of tonal possibilities. I was instantly inspired to play when i first plugged it in. I will never be w/o one again. NEVER. Don't deprive yourself!! Get a Deja Vibe! The rest are all pretenders.

Mike Fuller is making the best pedals anywhere in the world. I could go on all day but you will never know until you own one. In my opinion this is the cream of the crop of the Fulltone line. Unsurpassed sound and craftsmanship and Made in USA.

Volume, Intensity, (Choral/Vibrato switch), (Modern/Vintage switch) and a big speed knob that you can turn with your foot. I give it an 8 because the non-pedal unit is trickier to change the speed while playing. Like anything it will take some getting used to, but it's not that hard. Still, I chose this version because 1) less real estate, 2) this is my first univibe so if I get totally hooked, a pedal version may become a higher priority. Another neat thing is that he has the 4 rubber feet on separate screws, so you can take them off with out opening the dejavibe, and there's plenty of room to put velcro with out placing it over the graphics or serial number. On other pedals, I remove the rubber feet, electrical tape the rubber thingys together in the battery holder, then put the screws back. Of course, you know I'm doing this so the velcro can make contact... just checking.

A side note: admittedly, I did not know much about univibes until reading harmony central reviews of Fulltone's, Sweetsound's, and Prescription Electronics (Rx). Before that, I had heard of the Univibe, and knew that Hendrix and Trower used them. I guess I figured it was like tremolo, or that it just wasn't really important (probably typical thinking among us weekend club warriors). So, after reading more about it on the net and learning to recognize the sound; I knew not to expect it to be a chorus pedal, and that I would have to learn how and when to use it at my gigs.

Sound Quality : 9
From what I hear of vibes on various recordings, the deja has the correct sound. I may upgrade this to 10 in the future, I'm not giving out all tens off-the-bat anymore. It sounds very professional, clean with the modern setting is great, and then some overdrive using the vintage setting. Very musical. This pedal creates a "vibe" (pun intended) that makes you respond in your playing and that's what is different about this effect, you work with it. I used the vibrato mode to cover "Tightrope" with the band and it did a nice Vibratone impersonation, the trick is to turn the intensity down. Other then the occasional quasi organ tones, I generally use the choral mode; modern setting for clean, vintage with distortion. I leave it on vintage by default and if the clean setting feels muddy, I flick the switch to modern.

Some of you may have the Line6 MM-4 and might be batting around the idea of getting the real deal (like I was a few months ago): Let me tell you, the Line6 isn't even close... the U-vibe program has the pulsation but the tone is not right. I owned that pedal for a couple months, and the vibe patch did not inspire or enlighten me. As soon as I turned the dejavibe on I was like, "Oh, this is how reggae was done!" Or you might think of later Jimi songs when you use it with some fuzz and the guitar volume rolled back. That won't happen with the MM-4, it won't take you back. If you play in a wedding or cocktail hour band the MM-4 would probably work for you since your guitar is just background music. If you play in a place where you have to hold your nose when you walk past the men's room (because it's the only place that will allow you to wail and you appreciate that), then you should get the real deal. I sold the MM-4 and some old rack gear and got me the dejavibe and choralflange. My sound is way improved, I just want to book more gigs now because I know the band will sound better. P.S. Regarding the MM-4, it wasn't just the vibe patch, I didn't like the way the chorus or flange mixed in with overall tone. It was like on top, or outside even with the mix knob on full. Reminds me of the ol' taboo "adding effects during mixdown phase on a recording" (yuck). Maybe that's just how digital modeling is implemented??

I'd say it's tougher then the original, and will last a long time. I can't rate this now obviously, so I will use this space to tell you why I went with fulltone.

After thinking about 5 of these clones I narrowed it down to Fulltone and Rx. A pedal dealer told me that Fuller's was a little too phasey, and that the Rx was the best clone. He then said the micro vibe was better as well but not as flexible. After the last statement, I started to question his opinion because it sounded like he just read the GP mag univibe shootout :-) I should also add that he was not a fulltone dealer. I went with Fulltone because I own some of his other pedals and I know his quality is hard to match. Also, I question the hype of the Rx pedal because GP mag gave them the top rating in a univibe shootout. There are surely politics going on with those reviews, and when something is printed in a magazine, it tends to become law. If you go to the reviews of the Rx VibeUnit, almost all of them say something on the order "it beats the others hands down." On what basis is that statement? I think only one guy actually said he owned both and sold the fulltone. As far as it being phasey, it's supposed to be. Get some band of gypsies concert tapes and listen to machine gun. That being said, they are probably all good pedals and very close. I'm not saying I'll only buy fulltone, but he does cover a broad range of pedal types, some of the other guys only make overdrive pedals. I may also try SIB and Barber stuff when funds allow. Wish I could afford to buy them all.

I live in NJ, probably the most musically un-hip state going, at least equipment wise. You'd think cause we are close to NYC, I could just walk in to any old music store and try out all these hand made pedals and amps. Not. I can't even find a dealer on the net in NYC. I've had to get my "small-shop" pedals from Upstate NY, Michigan and Utah. These are places that they make fun of in B-movies for being hokey. I'm not so sure, these guys in the middle states and out in the country have been reviewing hand made pedals since 1996, I was still dorkin' around with digital multi effectors then. Four years behind in having good tone... well not anymore!! So I'd like to thank the guys at Parkway Music in Albany, and Rockin' Daddy's in Michigan for keeping this stuff in stock (and Randy Volin, thanks for the free tape with my Ultimate Octave, you're a good player)! If there's a small shop in Jersey that has some hand made amps and pedals, email me, I'll even make a road trip if it's a couple hour drive.

I know I'm not the only guy in Jersey that knows about this stuff, but I'm talking about the overall scene. I only play out about every 3-4 weeks, so during my off-time I check out other bands. I get a little bored (P.O.'d actually) if the guy is a decent player and is using "Guitar Center" mass produced stuff that's geared for teenagers... next bar.

easy to use, selections include- chorus/vibrato, volume and intensity, and finally the speed option. Select speed at 3 o'clock, chorus setting, and modern settiing and you have the vintage "machine gun" sound. Mike Fuller includes a brief manual to assist you.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Strat and an ES-335 with a peavy classic 30. I also have a crybaby wah and a Fulltone full-drive 2 and they all sound great when used in the correct chain- guitar>wah>deja vibe>fulldrive2 overdrive>amp. You can easily emulate the Hendrix/Trower/SRV/Chilton sound. Quite frankly, this is the best toy ever... there are a few other Uni-Vibe imitations- Dunlop, voodoo lab, and the Ultra-vibe, but Mike Fuller is the master and this is the most convenient (size) and true sounding of them all.

Reliability : 10
I'll never doubt Mike Fuller from what I have heard. He is always around and will talk to you briefly if you call him.

I've never had to contact Mr. Fuller.

This pedal is a great effect, it has taken the place of my SmallStone phaser. I would get another if it were stolen because once you have one, you will always have to have one. It inspires me to create cool riffs that easily turn into songs in the band I'm in...

Fairly easy to use. Had no problem getting those classic Uni-Vibe sounds I heard on records. The interaction between the rate and intentensity takes a little to get used. Basically its a twist knob stomp and go for me.

Sound Quality : 9
Using this mostly with Strats, and it works great. No problems or complains with Tele's or Les Pauls either. Works good with all my amps, Vintage Marshall , VOX AC30, BF and Tweed Fenders + a couple of others. Getting the Trower and Hendrix sounds are easy. Sound quality of this unit is great.

Reliability : 7
Had it for almost 2 years, and just the switch has broken. Gig without backup. All Fulltone fx are very well built. Mine is one of the older white ones, thats run on a 12V external power supply.

Customer Support : 5
Have commented elsewhere here why I rate it like this.

Overall Rating : 8
Very good stomper. As most Fulltones its expensive but worth it. Mainly using it with a cleanish amp to get a little swirl and it really shines for me in this department. Have played for some 20 years. Also own the Prescription and Voodoo MicroVibe. Rates it even with the first and above the MicroVibe. The current ones of a internal power, really like that upgrade. Wish it had the possiblity to connect a external footcontrol like the originals, then again Fulltone has the Deja2 that have this. Would probably upgrade to a Sweetsound or Deja2 if I lost this one.

Mike should call it "Voodoo in a Box".This is a no brainer. To get a good sound out of it you plug into it and turn it on. It's that easy. Instant Hendrix & Trower Voodoo Heaven. I use the Chrous and the Vibrato settings. With the LED speed indicator it's easy to set the tempo to a song which is important. If you got the speed set right then your guitar just throbs and melts with the band. Hell it's Great.

Sound Quality : 10
I use the Deja-Vibe with a 68' Strat, 92' SRV Strat, 97' Woodstock Strat (yeah the white lefty/righty one)or a PRS Custom 22. Other effects include a VOX reissue Wah (saving dem pennies for a Clyde), 69'Pedal or Old Pro Co Rat, Voodoo Lab Analog Chrous and a Dan Echo. I use a Mesa Boogie Maverick 2x12 amp most of the time but with this set up almost any good Tube Amp well do. There is little or no extra noise from this unit that I can say is bad. I mean if the Amps on 10 and your not playing you can hear the sweep but what would you expect.
Sound Quality is the BEST, EXCELLANT, ***** 5 STAR, UNSURPASSED by any "Vibe" I have tried. Look I bought my first UniVibe back around 1975 and used it for years. It was great. But you know us Geeetar Pickers, we alway chasing after the bus, the next new thing. Next came Flangers, Chrouses, MIDI, Digital Multieffect Units ect.... and the UniVibe fall out of favor. I remember cleaning out the trunk of my 71' Volvo in the early 90's an throwing it in the garbage. SHOOT ME OK! but it's true. A few years ago I found myself longing for the sound of my youth. None of the Digital computer chip crap I had could do it. Little by little that stuff when into the garbage. I looked around for the effects I needed for what I call my "Voodoo Rig". I learned from reading interviews about Mike Fuller and Fulltone. How he made his effects by hand and cared about what they sounded like. I called him up and talked to him on the phone. He understood what I wanted, no what I needed. My first Fulltone pedal was a 69'pedal to replace the 74' red Fuzz Face I had in the 70's. When I heard it I knew I was on the right track. Next came the Deja-Vibe. KA-BOOM! The Voodoo was back. I remember the first gig I played with it the look on the crowds face, the way the walls of the club throbbed with it, they way it made me PLAY! Thank GOD for Mike. He saved a poor lost soul from Digitial Hell.Every night with out fail somebody asks me "How do you get that sound?" or " Oh Gawd! You got a Deja-Vibe! No Wonder you sound so good". If you are thinking about entering the Hendrix, Trower, or SRV sonic landscape and care about your sound nothing by Dunlop well do. I tried the ROTOVIBE and Univibe they make. The Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe wasn't bad for the price but NONE I MEAN NONE of em came close to the Deja-Vibe for clarity and that unnameable "Vibe" it has. See you got to have dem 18volts and dat little light bulb in dar to make a real "Vibe" sound right which none of the above units have. Mine is a few years old the White one that everybody seems to think sound best.

Reliability : 10
Yeah it's tough and Mike well fix it for LIFE if you don't abuse it. What more do you want. Yes gig with out a back up all the time. Would buy again if lost or stolen. If I caught the guy I'd leave his body in the swamp for the gators.

Customer Support : 10
Mike well answer your e-mails in no time and you can get him on the phone most of the time. He sounds busy when you talk to him but he probably is. But if you talk to him he well answer your question and try to help if you have a problem. Just don't call him to talk about the weather in Cali.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a 25+ year player. I've played 99% of every Honkey Tonk between Houston Tx. and New Orleans. I've opened for G.E. Smith, Bobby "Blue" Bland and Robin Trower himself to name a few. I play what ever da gig calls for and whatever makes da girls dance. I use a Line6 AX2 12 sometimes for shear ease of set up and tear down time. But if I really want to give the people more Bang fa dar Buck I bring da "Voodoo Rig". With out fail some one with 10 times more talent then me well say "God Damn your guitar sounds Awsome tonight!" What more do you want. Look Fulltone stuff is not cheap but I understand I'm not buying some brand X stomp box that some poor nameless person build for 10 cents a day. I'm paying for Mike Fuller's care and attention to detail. I'm paying for his Love of what he does and his years of Experience. That stuff is pricless. I can efford to get one of his wonderful pedals evey now and then. Some people can't. I'm a Lucky Guy.

The Deja 'Vibe is pretty easy to use... though mine did'nt come with a manual (I would like one, though) It can be figured out in a few mins... though I would like a manual that had a few setting suggestions (Hendrix, Trower, etc)

Sound Quality : 9
I am running a G&L Legacy (Strat) through a Budda wah, into the Deja 'Vibe, into a Fulltone FullDrive 2 into a Fender 4X10" tweed DeVille. The sound quality is subtle, rich and watery... an awesome sound, especially on the Chorus/Vintage setting... I doubt I'll use the Virbrato setting much, though it's cool in it's own right.

Reliability : 9
Feels like it is built like a brick! My Full Drive is the same way. The on/off switch is a little too close to Volume and Intensity knobs for my liking, as I think my big booted feet might turn a chicken head knob, but I think I'll get used to it. Overall, it feels VERY sturdy. I would gig without a backup. (it's a good thing - I cant afford two)

Customer Support : 9
I E-Mailed Mike asking him where the Deja 'Vibe would fit into my signal chain and asking about a manual... and he E-Mailed me back in a couople of hours! Now THAT is support. I only wish all manufacturers were this prompt. I WILL be buying a Clyde from them one day -mainly becouse of Mike Fuller's dedication to his art. No mention was made in his E-Mail about my absent manual, however. Still -AWESOME support.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, I give this pedal a 9.5. Awesome tone, very watery, not at all sterile... Mike Fuller knows his effects. I actually traded an old Fender Champ (a '68) that needed a little work and a little cash for this pedal - and it was worth it to me. I tried the Dunlop Univibe, the Roto-Vibe and a couple other Roto type effects, and I loved this the most. My only wish is that if there was a manual, that I had one... though that is a small wish indeed! I am VERY happy with Fulltone... I am gonna collect 'em all!

Sound is GREAT!!!!! I love this pedal. Very transparent and explosive if set a certain way. Very dymanic to your touch. Little noise. I liked this version(white version) better than the new ones. I've had the great pleasure to own 2 white versions & the new pedal version. For my taste and playing style the older version worked best for me. A little more louder & brighter than the new one. I love all Fulltone pedals so don't get me wrong. I found I could find my own sound with this pedal. Some effects sound like the artist that used them. You can sound like Hendrix/Trower if you want too, but the Deja Vibe leaves room for you. It has a special magic thats hard to find these days. It reacts to you, the player. Some effects sound plastic and limit your tone & playing style. The Deja Vibe opens you up. Fly on Little Wing.

I've never had any problems with Fulltone pedals. Built like shit brick houses. I can always depend on them and at times can't live without them.

Easy to use. Pick Chorus (the best) or Vibrato. Dial a speed.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing sounds fantastic. It is really good for organ/synth stuff, but is sounds great with guitar too. The chorus setting is the tasty one, but really the sound is way cooler than a chourus pedal. You should run this thing in stereo, awesome. It does change the tone of your original sound, but I never found this to be an issue, given what it adds.

Basically a Uni-Vibe clone that provides Leslie simulation and chorus.
This is the model with a white case and external transformer (most recent model has gold case and internal transformer). Although there are several controls, it is pretty easy to set up a good sound. The controls are easily workable by foot.
This gadget works by pitch-shifting the incoming signal in a rhythmic pattern. Two dial controls allow you to vary the speed and intensity of the pitch shift. A very nice feature is an LED that visually indicates speed and intensity. Perhaps the most important control is a toggle switch that takes you back and forth between Vibe and Chorus mode. "Vibe" gives the pitch-shifted signal as the output, producing the effect of a spinning Leslie speaker. "Chorus" mixes the pitch-shifted and input signals, giving a changing in-and-out-of-phase sound. A Dark/Bright toggle changes the tonal spectrum. The On-Off foot switch provides true bypass. Finally, Volume cuts (but doesn't boost) the instrument volume. This seems rather complicated, but it isn't hard to figure out.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with a Fender Blues Jr, a Strat, and a LP DC. Sounds good with these. It was pretty noisy when I first tried it, but a new cable and a grounded outlet fixed that.
So far, I've discovered four different sounds that I particularly like: 1. Vibe at high speed and low intensity gives a subtle, but noticable, Leslie effect. (Higher intensity sounds pretty strange, as you spend more time on the pitch-shifted signal and less on the note you're playing.) 2. Vibe combined with a lot of reverb on the amp gives a nice organ-like shimmer that's good for backup. 3. Chorus at higher speeds and medium intensity gives the famous Hendrix-Trower sound. 4. Chorus at lower speed and higher intensity gives a sort of auto-wah sound. (Sounds better if the speed is close to the tempo of the music.)

Reliability : 9
Heavy duty case, generally sold controls. (The toggles strike me as a bit delicate, and they have been replaced by rocker switches in the new model.)

Customer Support : 10
There's a reason Mike Fuller is legendary.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly blues and related music. This is not an effect that I would use on every song, but it has some uses that another sort of effect wouldn't do. The organ-like tone is great for backup on slow songs, and the chorus is useful on modern tunes or blues-rock for making solos stand out from the sonic background. A little bit of vibe sounds pretty good for solos on more traditional sorts of tunes. Overall, I would rate it as excellent within a specific range of applications, rather than as an all-purpose effect.

Sometimes I do have patience for tweaking.... and other times i don't. This time around i had the patience. Doesn't requite THAT much tweaking to get a good classic sound out of it...... but be aware of the internal trim pot wired INSIDE the unit. That as much as anything else affects the intensity of the effect.

Dead-on Hendrix/Uni-Vibe and Robin Trower sound =-) I read somewhere that Trower is an endorser of this product..... no wonder =-)

Obviously a great value for as much as I paid for it =-) The owner of the store doesn't know much about effects.... just guitars.
