Fulltone Deja'Vibe

Extremely easy to use. Pretty much your standard Uni-Vibe clone.

Sounds like Hendrix, Trower, Gilmour, Zappa, etc. True bypass, not noisy at all. Very transparent.......that is unless you dont know where to put it in your effects chain. ANY vibe pedal needs to go BEFORE your overdrive!!! If you put it after, you will loose all your low end.
You can fine tune the amount of intensity via a trim pot on the back of the pedal.
Theres plenty of great vibe effects out there and it's really just a matter of tatse and how much you want to spend. I trust Fulltone to make quality effects.
I play a Gretsch Country Club into a CAE clean boost > Deja Vibe > Barber Direct Drive > Delay > Fender Twin. Simple.

So far I have used and abused a couple Fulltone pedals and they are rock solid.

I cant imagine another UniVibe clone being much better than this. Any boutique UniVibe clone is gonna be around the same price, so really, go with the one you dig. I can personally vouch for this one. It sounds great. Hell, if it's good enough for Robin Trower, it's good enough for me. As I said befoe, IT GOES BEFORE THE OVERDRIVE/DISTORTION !!!

Like any stomp box ... Very simple to use .. just twiddle a couple of knobs and use your ears.

Like most Fulltone products it is easier on the eye than on the ear and is very, very overrated!

Laughable. Mike Fuller has never heard of the words 'customer support' .. the man is a rude ego-maniac I'm afraid to report. It's a shame because his boxes look nice on the outside .. but he really should emply someone who knows what they are doing as far as the sound goes.

Easy to use,however there are certain tricks to get the most out of these units that some may or may not be aware of.

I got an older one from 1997.It's white,speed knob is on the left and the toggle switches are parallel to the volume and intensity knobs.This one kicks ***.No volume drop whatsoever.It actually boost my signal in a fat warm way.It sounds very thick and watery on the chorus and pitch-warbly on the vibrato.I've tried other fulltone vibes before(DV2, mini-vibe,gold DV)but I'm glad I found this one because it really is awesome and sounds better than the other fulltone vibes I've tried.Oh yeah I've tried and owned a shit load too.I like this one,but I give a 9,because nothing is perfect.

Kills the dunlop vibes.I tried the captain coconut,mojo vibe,all the other fulltone vibes,micro vibe.........the cc2 was great,mojo vibe was great too and basically my DV sits with them in terms of "quality of tone".Vibe pedals sounds different from each other and that's ok,it's the quality of sound and how they interact with everything else in your effects chain,guitar and amp that make it sound great or like ****.

very straightforward. knobs turn left, knobs turn right. switch goes up and down. i do like the big speed know so you can adjust with your foot on the fly (de riguer on the higher end pedals of this type now anyway)

The sound is delicious, very lush. I agree with another review though that the max effect is not as strong as i would prefer. I have a pod xt, and the vibe on that is definitely nowhere near as tasty, but the intesity is more extreme. i dont think its a case of just wanting more - to my ear the classic recordings like machine gun have a stronger effect than this gives.
use with all types of gear - as usual its better with some than others

im a bit disappointed. it picks up some radio interference, and this can be quite bad sometimes. singificantly higher noise level than it should have, but this is mainly associated with radio interference. otherwise, all very solid, but the interference is too much of a problem

I LOVE this pedal. I bought it to replace a Voodoo Lab Microvibe; which I liked a lot, but was having major problems with. I returned it twice then exchanged it for the Fulltone. From what I understand, the fulltone is based on the original Univibe design, the one made by Univox. What most people don't know, is that the Dunlop "Univibe" that is available today, is NOT based on the original and does NOT sound like the original. Anyone who is familiar with the original Univibe (made by Univox, NOT dunlop)will tell you that the Dunlop version is not the same thing. The Dunlop sounds like a toy to me? The Fulltone sounds great, organic, full, very very nice sounding pedal, in both the chorus AND vibrato modes. I tend to play most modulation effects clean, but this sounds nice with some dirt too. The only problem I had with this pedal is a certain amount of breakup when played clean and used with humbuckers. If you make a conscious effort to ease up when playing and not strum so hard, you can control this. There does not seem to be any breakup when used with single coils though. This is by far my favorite pedal. It is a bit pricey, but I am getting my moneys worth.

I have to say, from my experience owning several of Mike Fuller's pedals, they are very easy to use. Like all basic effects pedals, the controls are right in front of you. Modeled after the old Uni-vibes, there are the three main controls: Volume, intensity, and speed of the effect which is a large knob for foot adjustment during performance. The extra controls are Chorus/Vibrato and Vintage/Modern. I had a Dunlop Univibe, which I loved the sound of, but hated having two separate pedals just so I could control the speed manually by foot during the performance. The other downside to the univibe was when the expression pedal was connected to the main pedal, the effects bypass was de-activated and when you turned the expression pedal all the way back, it didn't completely cut off the effect.

My set up is: 79'Fender Strat - VoxWah - Jekyll&Hyde Distortion -Small Clone Chorus - Dan-echo - Deja vibe - MXR Flanger - 68'Fender Super Reverb (4x10). I haven't had much opportunity to gig with my set up recently with the replacement of my uni-vibe with the Deja-vibe, but from playing around at home, I haven't had any trouble with noise issues as Mike Fuller uses true bypass switching in his effects. In the series I have set up is sounds good.

I wanted to address in my review the comments made by other users, specifically to the reviews I read of how weak the effect is. First off, I would never buy a uni-vibe or clone of one for the chorus effect. I will say that like the uni-vibe, the chorus effect of the Deja vibe isn't what you would expect if you're looking for a chorus effect. These kind of vibrato pedals should only be used, in my opinion, strictly for the vibrato effect. I think the chorus was included by Fuller as part of the re-creation of the old effect. Secondly, and this ties in with the customer support comments I made, I too thought the sound of the effect was weak compared to my uni-vibe and was disappointed. However, I know that Fuller's pedals are quality so I emailed customer support asking if there is a way to tweak the pedal to get a more intense "warbble" effect. Wouldn't you know Mike Fuller himself emailed me back and mentioned that inside the pedal is a little trim pot that you can adjust to acheive the right sound you want!!! I opened it up and sure enough, I was able to get that Hendrix signature sound like Machine Gun!!! I was so happy.

Also, aside from the modern/vintage switch which adds a sublte tone change, the speed pot has such a braod range of speeds for the effect compared to the Uni-vibe that you can get a larger spectrum of sounds out of this thing. You just have to be careful as the pot is sensitive to the most subtle turns, you might want to dial in your sound first before playing.

Again, it all comes down to what sounds good to the individual, but at least with fulltone you have more options to explore to get the sound you're looking for.

Well, these things are housed in a nice little steel chassis. I accidentally dropped the thing on a concret floor and no damage at all!

I have several fulltone pedals and I've never had any problems with them. They are truely designed as a musicians pedal, not what some marketing guy in some other country thinks you want!

As I mentioned earlier, I did have a problem with the performance of the pedal itself and Mike Fuller, the President of the company who hand signs each peice he creates, contacted me within two days of my initial email with help. He already has lots of great stuff on his website, with tons of sound clips of each pedal for the customer who's not sure of investing in fulltone and plenty of info for each pedal.

I think I've already talked up Fulltone enough in my previous categories, but to add to what I said earlier they really are pedals built for the working musician. I remember thinking about picking up a Roger mayer Octavia Fuzz pedal, but thinking I love the sound of the Octavia, but it would be cool if you could have a pedal that had a switch to turn the Octavia effect off so you could use it as a fuzz pedal and sure enough Mike has one out that does just that. I would never get rid of my Deja vibe and would replace it if it got lost/stolen. I don't necessary think it's worth having the chorus function, but I simply just don't use that option knowing that it is available to me if I decide to.

Easy volume, intensity,speed. its not hard to get a good sound just mess with it. Makes your guitar sound full even if you turn the intensity and speed all the way down...

my chain is 62 vintage reissue fender strat-thomas organ crybaby-analog man modded dallas arbiter fuzz face-analog man modded Ibanez TS10/808-Deja vibe-Vintage EH Memory man-EH holy grail reverb-1979 marshall JCM 800 2003 half stack. Its super quiet. This effect is so close to the original uni-vibe you can;t tell the difference. easy to get the hendrix/srv sound

i've had it awhile only thing I think coudl use soem improvment is the knobs come loose off the pots alot and you have to tighten the set screws and rigth now I'm having a problem with the LED burning out . But other than that its great. read below

Mike is a great guy. i was refered to him by analog mike. and anyone who is cool with him is cool with me. the probs my pedal is having I knwo mike will take care of it in a fair matter.

I play blues rock/jazz/soul a bunch of stuff and it handles everything. Its just got that vintage vibe. what can i say i am a vintage tone nerd. I love the swooshy sounds and the crackly fuzz sounds.I ahve been playing for about 10 years and this is my favorite effect that isn;t in the dist/OD/fuzz catergory. It definalty makes you sound better just wiotht he full sound. if soemthing happened and i lost it i woudl hope to be able to get another but i hear they don;t make these anymore and there really expensive new. but its worth every penny. if you are a expierenced guitarist that loves tone this is it. if you a beginnaer that wants a warble liek cobain then stick to cheap pedals liek boss and dod.

It has a on/off switch, speed knob, volume and intensity knobs, a vintage/modern switch, and a chorus/vibrato. Very easy to get a great sound quality out of it, but i wanted to make the chorus sound lusher so i went inside and messed around with a trim pot inside that changed the sound. But the tone itself is nice. If that doesnt make sense read below.

i have a prs to a wah, tubescreamer, fulltone then chorus/flanger (not the fulltone, I WISH it were), then to a mesa rectoverb.
This pedal has a great tone for what it is capable of. Very high quality, low noise level. I keep it on alot just for its subtle smoothness that it puts on my tone. The problem i had is that it isnt as strong as I was expecting. Dont get it if u want full out hendrix or floyd. Just not as extreme "phased chorus" as the original univibes those famous people used. I tried to change this by adjusting the pot inside the pedal. This seemed to change it at first but i realized that the pedal was pretty much at its strongest effect where it was originally set. If I turned the pot until its effect SEEMED to sound more pronounced, i realized that it only changed the envelope of the phase in its sweep. If u looked at the graph of the envelope, it was rounded and more sine wave like originally, and after turning the pot to the more extreme setting it was sharper for a moment but flat for the rest of the time. The peak doesnt seem to get any higher, inotherwords its effect doesnt get more intense. almost like changing the delay time of a flanger. Additionally, and this may sound strange, but after a few minutes of listening to this thing it almost becomes fixated in ur head and i found it hard to notice if it sounded better or worse. Put me in a trance of sorts. Great sounding phasedchorus effect, but it may not be what u were expecting.
Next is the vibrato. I rarely use this, and when i do it is only planned out ahead of time. If im improvising, i just never want it. One thing i do not like is that it only pitches up from the original frequnecy, not below! I beleive this may be because of that adjustment to the pot inside that i made for the chorus, but im not sure. read what other people say. i never bothered, and i also didnt bother to mess with pot to see if that is the problem because i dont care for the vibrato effect.
This pedal is sooo close to hendrix and floyd, but too weak, why doesnt mike fuller just make the damn thing more powerful? He could have a truly amazing copy of those univibes if he did that.
One more thing, if u use this with a fuzzface it kicks ass, sounds hendrixy. once agian not there in intensity, but u get that whoosh sound every cycle of the chorus.
I give a 8 because i cannot in my right mind take off alot of points for the beautiful tone it has, but it is a douchebag move for fulltone to make claims that this is the original univibe when it isnt true. I am lucky i traded a shitbeaten fender princeton chorus (solidstate) for it that would have gathered dust in the basement anyway. If this was not the case and i dished out 300 bucks for it expecting a vintage univibe, i would give it a substancially lower score.

NO NO NO NO NO NO it is not reliable, at least when u first get it. Read on
The speed pot came loose, so i opended up the box to tighten it. This is before i attempted to alter the effect with the internal pot, so it was the first time looking inside. What a tiny little pot. I would expect it to be the kind of potentiometer u would find inside those little squier guitar amps, for lack of a better example. just a piece of shit. So i thought ok i will tighten it pretty well, u know, because i gig and step on this thing and it has the big metal box that it sits in, so the pedal is obviously heavy duty, right? Well i stripped the little baby threads on the pot. I have never done that with a guitar pot or anything like that, this was crap. I didnt even tighten it that hard. So i have it on now it still is tight enough tho i have to tighten it every once in a awhile, very carefully so that it doesnt completely strip the thread.
Next up, power jack. One day i tried to plug the power cord into the pedal and it wouldnt connect. I realized that the jack had broken off into the pedal. so i opened it up and saw that the back wall of the jack, where the two pronges are (im not sure if this means this is a plug or a jack, but in any event it is the power cord that accepts the pronges and the pronges are inside the pedal) had unglued itself from the other sides. It looks like there was only a touch of glue holding it together. they could have used clamps that keep this secure or just used a one piece jack, but it probably cost less to do it this way. So now i have it taped on securely with duct tape.
Ok other than that it is dependable. But only after the thing has broken half its shit and u have it taped together. Then it is fine. So if u get this pedal, u cant truely rely on it until a couple of things have broken. These pedals really have to be broken in (clever, heh?)! Read other reviews i have and apparently fulltone uses alot of inferior stuff. Sorry for the corny joke.

I dont really want to talk to them because they sell expensive guitar pedals and use shit equipment. If something does break down, i will install my own pots that are 10 times better.

I play good music. The deja'vibe is good if u want the tone of the old univibes but without the intensity. And does anyone really want that? I mean i can think of times when it would be nice, but i want something that has the ability to sound more intense. Go to a store and try the dunlop univibes, i have only used one for a few minutes but they seemed to have a stronger effect.
If it were stolen i would be pissed because i still like it for what it does, but i would buy a univibe or maybe that roger mayer thing i dont know i have never tried it but it is probably good. I would not get another one of these.
I realize that i gave this pedal alot of negative views, but it really is good for its sound. It rounds out the sound nicely, and with a clean tone it has a light and airy feeling to it.

Quite simple. It's a fairly easy pedal to get along with on-the-get-go.

Setup is simple: Parker Nitefly--Z.Vex FuzzFactory--DejaVibe--Dunlop 535Q, Boss DS-1, Voodoo Labs Proctavia--Electro-Harmonix Q-Tron, Dunlop Tremolo. Add to that the stuff in the effects loop. The pedal is very silent. Of course, it's true-bypass, so noise is barely noticeable.

I would like to add that I did not buy this effect in the hopes of coping a sound by certain artists. I was always a little deceived by the lack of overwhelming-ness of all the different phasers or flangers out there. Not to diss anyone though. The sounds I have in my head are similar to what I can achieve with this box. Think of the swelling-swooping on certain drum&bass pieces or techno or Moog synths. I use the dejavibe in that context. I am writing this so people who have no idea who Trower, Hendrix or SRV is can hear this effect for it's raw potential of possibility rather than confine it to a style or artist.

I guess I could. A backup would be a little expansive...only time will tell

The DejaVibe suites me fine. A pedal will never limit you, how bad you think it may sound. Only yourself can feel limited by a lack of imagination. It's never the other way around. Music is just noise punctuated by silence.

Couldn't be more srtaight forward, Volume, Intensity, on/off, speed wheel to dial in tempo (suprisingly easy to control), Chorus/Vibrato switch and Modern/Vintage switch. No manual required really. Only reason haven't given it 10 is because it would be easier with a foot pedal that would adjust the tempo.

I play a Fender Stratocaster or Les Paul standard into a VOX V847 wah, Vox Valvetone (going to replace that with a good Fuzz), Deja Vibe (big gold version) and finaly a Peavey Classic 50. This is my third vibe type effect that I have purchased over the years. I have owned a Dunlop Rotovibe and their Poor Uni Vibe reissue but the Deja Vibe is the closest I have ever come to getting that legendary Univibe sound that you hear on your Jimi Hendrix, Trower and SRV records. I find that I have to have the Volume on just about max in order for it to be equal to my amp, and on the Chorus setting I have found that I usually have the intensity set between 3 and 6 o'clock (6 been maximum). For a vibe unit I would say that it extremly quiet but naturally with vibe units you always get a little.
I have owned it for about 4 hours now and I seem to be able to get those sweet hendrix tones and warbles very easily however I'm going to try altering that internal trim pot and see if I can get any more out of it. If you a considering purchasing one of these go and try it out if you can because EVERY setup is going to sound different, remember this also when you read the following reveiws, just because a few may say that it is nothing like Jimi's, SRV's and Trowers sound it may not be the case, IT'S ALL ABOUT YOUR SETUP!!!!, even down to your guitar cables!. Tip; Wneh you get it, if you get it plug it in, turn it on and leave it for about half an hour to an hour, let it warm up before you start altering anytinhg like the internal trim. The Vibrato aint all that much but the gloopy, phasey, watery chorus makes up for it.

Can't comment, bulit like a tank though. Would use it on a gig, no need for backup, cant afford it anyway.

I find that it is a good match to my tastes, suits me fine. The only thing that would make this pedal better would be if there was a speed control pedal you cound add to it like the original 60's univibe but I can cope with the big wheel for now. One last thing, don't buy this pedal if you thing its going to be a really good Chorus pedal, this is 100% Uni Vibe unit which is a mixture of chorus, vibrato and phase.

well ,i just plugged this one in and it sounded really good,took me about 30 seconds to get what i wanted.

i use a strat into a Teese wa,dv,fat boost,fulldrive2 into a 100w
marshall &4-12 bottom.
i got to tell ya,i bought the DV(gold one) then i saw that anolog mike had a
new small one,(Mojo Vibe) i bought it to save room on my pedalboard.
gave the gold DV to a friend to use.started listening to my new cd that i used the DV on and freaked out!! called my friend and demanded he give it back right away! for me the DV is smoother sounding (creamier)than the Mojo Vibe.
it doesn't do the machine gun thing as well as the Mojo Vibe but if anything
it has it's own signature sound and records really well.a little less hiss
than the mojo vibe.for me,the DV feels better in my live rig.
in my studio,anything goes!

it is built very well don't have a backup for my gigs,who needs to lug around
all that extra stuff anyway!(oops,sorry Mike) isn't this the reason to buy
well made stuff,so the sh$##t won't break?

I have got hundreds of pedals,all this stuff is useful one way or another.i still use the boss distortion pedal
that you can get for 40 bucks. if i am playing thru my fenders,or my marshalls,
or the dreaded twin with JBLs in the backline on some gig,the DV is one of the pedals that i know will work for me in a live or recording situation.

I like it a lot. It makes you sound very full. I find I never turn it off, I just lower the effect to where you almost can't tell. if you turn it off, you realize how full it makes your tone. makes it very hard for anyone else in the band to cut you out or cut thru your own guitar leads etc..I love this thing and will probably get another because they stopped making the full sized univibes a long time ago!!

Very straight forward as far as getting tones. My only wish would be to move the Volume and Mix knobs a bit further up the unit so my big feet won't knock them off the current setting.

Wow !!!. Super lush beautiful vibe sounds with no noise. I have many amps and it works well with all of them especially my Vibrolux reverb and JTM-45. I have heard quite a few vibes and this one really is my favorite.

Just got the unit - I can't imagine how anyone could build a more solid effects box than this. My guess is that this thing will be around with me for sometime.

Emailed sales support in the off-chance that I could get a few stickers for my cases since I purchased all my Fulltone stuff used. Scott returned my email the sameday. He sent me a few stickers on the house. How can you beat that. I have heard Mike can be difficult. I have a feeling that is more a result of unreasonable or ignorant peoples egos than Mike. Anyone who puts this much tought and precision into making something we all can enjoy - probably has a low tolerance for the above mentioned personality types.

Well - I would give this Vibe a 10 but there is room for improvement on the ergonomic tip ( Volume and Intensity Level Knobs). As far a super cool 3-D Vibe sounds The buck stops here. I love it!!!

No manual needed ... very well laid out, easy to use ... and READ THIS: If you have big feet like me, you had better grab one of these larger units before they are discontinued. Those new tiny Deja models, which are competing with Sweet Sounds new micr release, are worthless to big guys like me. I need to hop between sounds, and don't have time for aiming at the tiny corner of this little pukey pedal. I would end up smashing all the control knobs the way the new pedals are laid out. This Deja design is the best, and if you gig, you need an easy to engage pedal that sits where it is supposed to.

Here is a thought ... if you can't sound great using this pedal, or if you can't get that Jimi/Trower sound you are after, maybe it is not the pedal! Maybe you don't cut through the mix because your amp is not setup for using a modulation effect!? This pedal sounds great .. I have owned most of the univibe clones, and to honest, how can you go wrong? They ALL sound freakin spectacular, and have so many tweaks so you can dial in the sound you want. The Hebdrix swoosh we all desire is there big time ... as well as a killer vibrato thta old timeys like me love to use for slower tunes. Great, great tone.

I have owned many Fulltone pedals ... and I have had some minor problems with switches going bad. Fuller sent out new switches when I asked him for some. No questions asked.

Hey, I have played for quite awhile, and I must say that these new class of effects pedals kick the butt off the old ones. Maybe somebody has an old univibe that sounded t\like the holy grail ... most did not sound that great. The quality control of Fulltone's pedals is top grade. If you have a problem you can call him up and talk to him. Yes, he is a bit trite, but I admire him for his electronic genius and sense of tone. Who gives a crap if he sweet talks you or not? Fact is he always takes care of his products.

I have gigged in various bands for almost 30 years, and play whatever the singer wants to play. I wish that involved more Hendrix and less Top 40, but I get my moments to shine. This pedal does what it is supposed to ... namely floor the audience when I step on it and wail out. Tools are only as good as the people who use them. This pedal, which may be discontinued in favor of the unsubstantial smaller one, is a classic. If you play aggressively like I do, you do not have time to be farting around looking for the on/off button. And I do not dig effects loops myself, as the extra tube colors my sound. Buy one of these and take some time learning how to make your music better with it.

It does a univibe very well. Use it pre preamp, overdrive etc. and it will do the job.

I think you got a lemon. I use it live in very demanding situations. I use it in the front end right after my volume pedal but before any distortion or preamp where it is supposed to be used. We are a 2 guitar, sax, fiddle, bass and drums band.
I use a vht valvulator, true bypass vox wah, mxr dynacomp, ernie ball volume, dejavibe line6 mod modeler(awful univibe model but good phase, vibrato, and tremelo, reverend drive train, boss RV3, and finally a fishn'chips eq for boost into a reverend hellhound.
I used to be a Univibe user back in the mid 70's and find this pedal to be right on and my sound cuts through on every part of the sweep.

Took a bit of playing with the unit to get a good Trower tone but its there if you look for it. Laid out ok.

I found it unimpressive in a band situation. Great if you are sitting by your lonesome but as soon as a few others join in it gets lost. Good for a studio recording, not very good live.

Well, first thing I had to do was open it because it was not doing anything when I pressed the pedal down. Had to tighten it down internally so the pedal moved the control inside to change the speed.

For the money forget it. I play progressive Americana/Blues and my Small Clone cuts through the band better than this.
I sold the dejavibe after a few weeks won't get another.
Been playing 30 years used all types of swirly effects, this one is right in the middle not bad, not great but the cost is too much. I have a complicated setup that consists of a Roland GR-1 Guitar Synth>Dunlop Volume pedal>Boss Wah>FZ3 Fuzz>Ibanez Super Tube (Keeley modded)>Ibanez Swell Flanger>Danelectro Tremolo>EH Small Clone>Dano Reverse Delay>Ibanez DDL20 Delay Set on Long Delay>DeArmond EQ>Hush pedal>FX Loop has a REV3 set on short delay w/reverb>Boomerang sampler into two amps a Marshall 30 watt all tube stack and a Vintage blue Kustom 100 tuck and Roll solid state. Synth and boomerang are routed to the Kustom all else through the Marshall. Used with a Jimmy Vaughn Strat and a 80's Les Paul Junior as a backup guitar. Amps are routed into main pa through Behringer Guitar DI's with speaker emulation. A satisfying setup but the dejavibe just did not cut with it maybe it works better in other less cluttered setups?. Think I'll go to an actual rotating speaker unit like a leslie cabinet in the future.

I could see where a less complex individual might not be able to dial in a sound. However, the average person should be delighted with just about any setting. Finding the "Jimi" or "Robin" spot should not take more than a few minutes of experimenting.

Pristine is not really what the 'Vibe is about. Thick, liquid and animated, is! This is NOT a chorus (I'm sure Mr.Fuller has a nice chorus if that is what you require)just as a Leslie is not a chorus effect. This is a very good Univibe circuit, though, and I've played through some nice originals. The Fulltone circuit has real improvements over the original. First, it has true bypass. Second, it has extra output available through both the "vintage" and "modern" settings, with the latter providing a slight boost and brighter tone. The Deja'Vibe is less likely to be loaded down by the next stage, so the tone remains intact. Third, the on/off indicating LED pulses in sync with the LFO so you can easily set the speed control with a song tempo. Lastly, the power supply doesn't add AC hum to your signal like most of the originals. It is properly laid out, regulated, and filtered-the old Univibe had a half-wave rectifier and an RC filter-hardly a fair comparison!

I play a Les Paul and Strat through the 'Vibe, followed by a homemade fuzz and either a tweed Deluxe-style amp/resonant 4-12 cab setup or Marshall Super Lead 1/2 stack.

This thing is all heavy-guage steel. The circuit board and all components are solidly mounted to the box-no velcro or silicone cement or what-have-you. An extra device for backup would be a waste of money.

I wrote to Mr. Fuller via email and received a very prompt and courteous reply, even though no reply was needed. Also, I had the good fortune to see and hear him at a guitar show in Pomona at the L.A County Fairgrounds ('93 or '94). Mr. Fuller was very polite and professional, answering questions and allowing show attendees to try his wares, including devices he was working on at the booth! His pride in his work shows and is warranted!

For my eclectic (and at times rather odd...)musical tastes, the Deja'Vibe is a useful device. When I hit the footswitch, I know the tone will become thick, liquid and warm. While practicing, for example I find myself playing slow legato phrases just to let the 'Vibe come through. I've tried the Prescription and have heard the Sweet Sound Univibe clones. They sounded much the same. I'm impressed with the Deja'Vibe's ability to be plugged in first in the effect chain with no increase in noise. In fact, in one particularly EMI-rich environment, the noise level was DECREASED by the 'Vibe's use! The Deja'Vibe compares sonically to the originals (yes, I DID do A/B comparison with units in my possesion for repair), albeit without the AC hum and other negatives and is constructed to last. If lost, I'd replace the Deja'Vibe in a heartbeat! I usually set it to "chorus", "vintage", volume maxxed, intensity between 9 and 12 o'clock, and speed is adjusted according to the song tempo. "I don't know, but it sends me there"...

Very easy, and adjustable. Volume, Speed, Intensity, and switchable vintage/modern tone (I like vintage, more creamy) and chorsy/vibrato toggles.

I have heard there are some better pedals, but this one is amazing. Maybe if you want to spend another $400 you can get something that sounds better to some people, but I dont see how. Fulltone is great because it has true bypass and lets your amp's tone come through. If you have a crap amp, dont bother buying this. If you have a good setup, this is great!

It nails the Pink Floyd Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and Breathe sounds, just play with the speed and intesntiy on the knob and its all there. I found it works great when playing plucky clean channel sounds, it gives it a smooth funky feel.

This thing is solid, Ive had it about 3 months and its been banged around while moving from place to place but no trace of any beating. and the 3 prong chord is easy to plug in (no wall wart). The back panel says not to open while unit is on or you can risk death. Now thats power, and you can hear it. I only worry about all the knobs being broken if not transported properly, but no more than any other high end pedal.

Never customer service for this, but I did for my FullDrive 2. One of the Stomp Switches broke off when it was accidently kicked, and they were both replaced free of charge and I got them back within a week.

This is for the newer gold model. I play mostly retro sounding rock and pop, with a bit of a psychedelic feel. Ive been playing for about 14 years and playing gigs for about 2. I love this pedal because it blends in nicely, or if you want it to stand out you turn the pedal volume all the way up so its very upfront. Its a great pedal to subtley add color to your sound, or it can be adjusted to dominate the sound as well. I use it a lot more than I thought I would.

I use this pedal, a Wah, and the fulldrive 2, and thats about all I need with my Custom Vibrolux Reverb. Great for Vintage sounds, or creating vibes for your orignials.. I dont play many covers, but if you were in a cover band playing anything from Pink Floyd, Hendrix, or other of that nature, you need this pedal.

If lost or stolen, I would hope my renters insurance covered it. Its expensive, but I would buy another if I had the money. I only give a 9 because its an expensive pedal. If it were under $250 I would give it a 10.

It's as easy as you might expect for an effect with 3 knobs and 3 switches. The Voodoo Labs MicroVibe is easier but less fleixble. I bought it used, so I didn't receive a manual. I don't even know if there is one available.

In my review I will compare it against a whole group of other rotating speaker/chorus units. Originally the UniVibe from Shin-ei was suppose to replicate the sound of a Leslie, but it failed at really doing that. So we must really categorize these units into rotating speaker emulators, choruses and Vibes.

I own the following pieces, a Sweet Sound Electronics UltraVibe, Fulltone DejaVibe, Prescription Electronicss Vibe Unit, Voodoo Labs MicroVibe, Dunlop RotoVibe, Korg ToneWorks G-4 rotating speaker emulator, Digitech RPM-1 rotating speaker emulator, Roland SDX-330, Digitech GSP-2101 (3 of them, Artist Pro, Limited Edition and Artist V3.0), Rocktron Replifex, Voodu Valve and Peavey TubeFEXs preamp/processor, and I am sure there is another couple I am forgeting. The rating in this category is based on the unit itself, not in comparison with other products. I give it a 9, it would get a ten if the knob was on the left instead of the right. You will notice that the older Fulltone DejaVibe's have the knob on the left, I personally belief that those units where made by Prescription electronics/Sweet Sound Electronics. They have more than a few similiarities. If this unit had a foot pedal to adjust speed it would get a ten.

My unit is the newer gold style. I tried this unit out first on a Groove Tubes Soul-O 45 combo amp and it sounded kind of dull and lifeless. But when I played it through a Fender Blues Deville is came to life. One thing I have notived with all of the vibe units which use a light source is they seem to sound better after they warm up for an hour or so. This unit doesn't get as swishy as the Sweet Sound or the Vibe Unit, but it does have a very pleasing sound. I must admit that after playing through the unit you will not want to stop, it is really addictive, this thing is sonic opium. I would say as Vibe unit's go it is not really and difference between the other two main players ( Rx Vibe Unit and Sweet Sound Ultra Vibe) until you start going to extremes. The other don't cut as many highs, but it's not like this unit just chops the frequencies off, it just rounds them a little. In all honesty when playing it through a early JCM800 50 watt Marshall into a 4x12 you really don't perceive there is anything missing. The Vibrato does work great for some tunes but it doesn't do the MAchine Gun as well as the others. I know some of you reading this review are going to hate this next statement but...

This is unique effect and you really need to evaluate if this is the one for you. As far as value it concerned this unit does really rate high. I find it very hard to spend the extra $ for the Sweet Sound or the Vibe Unit. I seriously recommend this unit. The rating I give it based on this effect and comparing it to it's two main competitors.

I have been using a Fulltone Fulldrive for years without any failure, so I beleive this should last a long time as long as I don't pound nails in with it or drag it behind my car. In reality Fulltone units are very solid.

Mike Fuller has been known to be short with people, including myself when I called him to ask him what the difference between a older gray Fulldrive and a newer blue Fulldrive II. He basically told me I have made many changes over the years, so there all good and to tell the truth they are so, he didn't lie to me. I get the feeling he doesn't sugar coat things so many are not used to his style. I'd rather have someone tell me the truth than to mis-lead me. I work a day job and hate being jacked around by people who won't cut to the chase, so I commend him. If you analysis top excutives who are really successful they screen their incoming requests for their time and only respond to the ones that will bear fruit. If I was Mike and I received pestering emails or calls asking me if I should plug my distortion box into the before or after the DejaVibe, I would also wish for a slap button on the phone or computer. A Classic unit, at first I wondered by reading the other reviews if I was going to like it and my answer would be a resounding "YES". THe finish on mine is a little beat from someone with alot of dirt on their shoes and never wiping the unit off. So it doesn't shine visually, but oh yes it does shine sound wise. If stolen would I run out and by another, good question, but I'll have to burn that bridge when I get to it. It is a very addictive unit, so I probably would.I realize that I could of written probably a more expansive review, but if anybody has a specific question don't hesitate to email me.

No brainer. Easy to get a terrific sound. Manual is slim but generally useful.

Use this on a Furman pedalboard with a Pharoah Class A drive and a Budda wah feeding into it, and a Sparkle Drive following, this all feeding into the front of the amp. Guitars are strats, Reverends, or a PRS into Budda, Rivera or Mesa amps. I bought this after seeing one of my great heroes, Robin Trower; his gear was a Clyde and a stereo DV into a pair of Marshall stacks. I immediately found this on eBay and grabbed it. This is the Sound.

Dependable; I have a DOD chorus on my pedalboard as well for other sorts of sonic effects that would function as somewhat of a backup. Doubt that I'd need it. Actually, in my current rig I've taken the DV off the board, simply because I don't use it much with my current employers. Built like a stone, though.

Mike's reputation precedes him. I've emailed him once or twice and received a noncommital response once, but he's a busy man and probably doesn't suffer fools well. I have experienced nothing that dispels his image as the dark prince of effects gurus. Many people have had very fruitful exchanges with him, so mileage differs.

Right now, not a good match, but when I pull out my eBow and decide to do my Chris Whitley meets Skip James psycho blues CD this will be right there on the board. Playing for nearly 30 years and would buy iy again. The tone lacks transparency to my ears, but you don't use this effect with subtlety in mind. I'd replace it in a minute if stolen. Had used a Dunlop UV Chorus, but it was a totally different animal.

Pretty straight forward, and easily understood. Volume, Intensity and Speed knobs, Chorus/Trem and Vintage/Modern switches. The Vintage/Modern switch governs EQ, with the Modern being brighter, but it's a pretty subtle difference between the two.

The general effect sounds good....just like it should. The reason for my low rating, and although it's part of the intended design, it isn't really well documented in these reviews...is that when the effect is engaged, it tends to trim A LOT of highs from the signal, even in Modern mode. For the Vintage side, this was largely be design to recreate the flavor of the original.

Admittedly, it's largely personal preference, but I would prefer that is was more tonally transparent. Gotta have a good dose of the effect, but would prefer that the treble/bass balance was retained better. I'm starting to get used to it.

Other than that, a great example of the effect.

Haven't had it too long, but my Fulldrive 2 has worked like a champ for quite a while. Fulltone is largely very high quality stuff.

This unit is too new, and the FD2 hasn't required support, so I can't say. I've never personally dealt with Mike Fuller, but I have seen some of his exchanges with users on the forums. I respect his talents and his products, and understand that with a small company, his time is limited. But the way he deals with some people could still be better.

As I've said before, his personality would never keep me from spending a couple hundred bucks for a pedal. If he made $1000+ guitars or amps, however, his reputation along might keep me from buying.

Overall, a nice unit. Good sounding effect. Just not keen on how it trims the highs.

to get good sound i think its key to pull back the intensity to about 4 and use a strat-fender combo
i also think IMHO it dosent sound great with humbuckers.

i haven't tried the sweetsound but I can get a great sound out of it i don't try to cover a sound but added to my already great sounding setup it was magical.

marshall superbass>orange 4x12>les paul gold top(p-90's). sounded blooming georgous when put behing my fulldrive2. i didnt want to switch it off. the vib setting was pretty naff but the chorus setting more than made up fot that. made my sound all creamy and anything i played just sounded good, no better than good it sounded fabulotatsic. however when i stuck my boss sd-1's in front of it it got lost, the boss just seemed to swamp it all. it was just a muddy sound. i guess its matched pretty well to being used with the fulldrive2. i can live with that cos the boss sd-1's can be hooked up to other guitars i use in my set-up. one sd-1 is modified by analog mike the other a tiawanese jrc4558 black label. both didnt like going with the deja vibe. the deja vibe is not a wild effect, being more on the subtle side but i think thats perfect. i think it goes to show that different pedals bring out or cancel out when used with other pedals. i'm hooked on it tho and wouldnt want to live a day without having one.

looks ok. i got it second hand and everything seems ok. havent had it long enough to rate it in this category.

ok a lot of people rant badly about mike. i have almost been guilty myself in the past. i mailed him about help for the power supply for this unit as i live in the uk and he was very quick and informative with his replies. i think it's obvious he is a busy man, filters his mail and only answers/helps where he thinks it is warranted. can't say i blame him as he must be busy.
i'll give him a ten cos he supported me good on this one.dont really think kindeness comes into it tho.

i wuv it to bits. its a bit big but it's still sitting there beckoning me to play with it and i cant ignore it. i cant sleep at night cos i wanna plug my gweetar into it and kick out! if you are looking for holy grail of vibe pedals that will end your search then you will be in the rut of buying pedals forever cos they all sound different. its just a great pedal, same as most other great pedals; get one to add to your collection of other pedals!

My unit is the older white model (dated 1/99). Bought it brand new. It has Volume, Intensity and speed controls. It also has two toggle switches to switch between vibrato/chorus modes and bright/dark modes. It is very easy to use, just step on it turn some knobs and go.

I'm using it with a Japanese Fender Strat with Antiquities Texas Hot and Jumbo frets. My other effects are Vox re-issue wah (with true bypass mod), Fulltone Fulldrive II, Fullonte 69, SupaTrem and an old Boss Analog Delay (routed thru a hard bypass box so it's out of the signal path when I'm not using it). My amp is a Marshall JTM 310. The DejaVibe is not noisy at all. It sound really great on it's own. It's okay with the FD2 but I don't like it with the 69. It thins out too much. This is the first time I've used a Univibe type of effect so I did not know what to expect when I bought it. I only based my choosing this from the reviews here.I Was not able to try it out in the store since I ordered this from another city. I wanted the ChoralFlange but I can't afford it.

It looks very dependable except for the toggle switches which do not inspire confidence. I know that sooner or later I'll break mine. I don't have any back-up because I can't afford to have one.

I've e-mailed Mike Fuller lots of time and on most instances he answers right away. On some, he did not answer even when I re-sent my e-mail just to make sure he recieved it. Friendly ???!!! No, I don't find him friendly AT ALL.

I mostly play blues rock and Billy Joe Shaver songs. I've had the DejaVibe for about one month now and unfortunately, no matter how I tried to use it I can't seem to find a use for it. It seems to get in the way. Dont' get me wrong it is a great unit and I like it. It's just not my cup of tea though. I've made a lot of mistakes in buying gear in the past and this is one of them. I've been playing since 1987 non-stop but mostly as a hobbyist. If it were lost or stolen then I'd just forget about it. If anyone wants to trade with this for a Choralflange, I'd be very interested.

Easy to use, typical setting is the chorus with the modern or vintage options... Speed knob for pulsation.

Sound cool, like what it's supposed to do. I have found though, that it is a little weak, even on it's strongest setting. I am using a ES335, a Victoria Bandmaster,and a ts9. The deja vibe doesn't cut through the mix... It doesn't sound as strong as the sustained 17th fret bend on "Machine Gun," but then again, I'm not using a Marshall. I think this offers a trower sound, not particularly Hendrix.

Very dependable, Fulltone stuff usually is. Sometimes the switches go out though because Mike Fuller supposedly uses cheap switches even though he makes about 80 grand a month probably, but he will repair them if anything were to go wrong.

I understand that he is easy to contact, but don't expect to chit-chat.

I play rock/blues/jazz/fusion... If it was stolen I would get Sweet Sound Ultra Vibe. The Fulltone was the only univibe clone that the local stores had. If you are gonna spend 250+ on an effect, you should perhaps try the Prescription Electronics Vibe unit or the Sweet Sound Vibe Unit. Don't get me wrong, Fulltone stuff does rock, and the Deja Vibe rocks too, but if you are very picky like me, then you notice the small things. this pedal is fine, and I will continue to use it, but if anybody has something they want to offer, I may consider a trade...
