My current set up is a Peavey triple XXX with Marshall 1960A cab , im an avowed effects junkie , even though i do firmly believe effects dont make the guitarist sound good , the guitarist makes the effects sound good , besides the Deja 2 I have a Digitech whammy ,Vox Wah , Line6 delay moulater , MXR phase 90 MXR 117 Flanger , Danelectro cool cat chorus , and a Boss OC-2 andBoss Acoustic Simulator , Ironically I bought the deja 2 because i love the Hendrix and Trower sound , I play gibsons predominantly and ESPs , Ive been playing awhile and i try effects all the time , I had originally tied out the Dunlop Rotovibe and the Voodoo Labs Microvibe , neither of which did it for me , this pedal was love at first bite .What I do when I get a new toy is to first disconnect all my other pedals and just play the new one , so I could get te true sound of the effect without possible outside interference from another effect , well I did it with the deja 2 and man it was sweet , I keep my triple XXX on the crunch channel mostly and man the sound was awsome , realistically I could just play with this effect and sound mint , Now , Im a tough son of gun to please , Im fussy as hell with my tone , so when i tell you the pedal sounded mint , I think i made a great choice , to me sound is everything , and this babys got it in spades , so if you looking for that Hendrix ,Trower vibe this is it , I keep mine on Chorus ,with the intensity all the way with vintage setting for that watery univibe sound. awsome . Besides Trower and Hendrix , I dig blackmore , Schenker , Hammett , cream era Clapton among others , any of you guys in or near Long island NY ,wanna jam email me

Incredibly easy to use. Includes a manual, but it doesn't really need one, it's pretty cut and dried.

Mainly using a '58 Les Paul Authentic (as well as Fender Custom Shop strat and Tele)into a Boss TU-2 pedal tuner, Budda Wah, the DV-2, Boss Octave (will soon be replaced by Fulltone Octave), Boss DM-3 delay, Ernie Ball Volume to Marshall JCM800 2210.
I haven't noticed an increase in noise aside from the usual Marshall hiss...Haven't encountered playing this effect with another guitarist or keyboardist, but could see how it could get buried in the mix. In my current situation, pedal sounds great. I've owned a Rotovibe, a Univibe and it wasn't until my Phase 90 finally went down that I bit the bullet and bought the DV-2.
I can achieve everything from a nice subtle chorus to a really fast leslie (ala Badge). Hearing guys like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Robin Trower made me want to get a leslie. This is much smaller, more reliable and alot less expensive!!

This is a perfect match for my style of music. I love playing and listening to Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Gov't Mule, The Stones ('68-'74), Deep Purple, Hendrix and Trower. If it were to get stolen (they would have good taste)I would replace it with another one. As I said, I've compared it to similar effects on the market and though quite a bit more expensive, I still thought it was worth the extra $$. It has inspired me to write more lately.

Self explanitory. The sweep of the LFO is a bit tight. It's hard to adjust the sweep at faster speed.

:6
It's very quiet, and souds OK, but not nearly as good as the price may suggest. I bought a VoodooLab MicroVibe as a backup, and actually like it better. The Deja' is just not bright enough, even at the "modern" setting. The MicroVibe helps my guitar cut through a mix, where the Deja' seems to burry it a bit.

Built very well. Switch is heavy duty, and rocker switches seem firm. The speed pedal is nice and tight.

The pedal sounds good on it's own, but seems to burry your tone in a mix. There are better UniVibe clones out there. This pedal would work well over bass and drums, but add a rythm guitar or organ, and your gonna get lost in the mix.

Setup as follows... ES-335>>Deja2>>Fulldrive2(NFM)>>Keeley compressor>>Ibanez CS-9>>EB Volume>>'66 BF Pro Reverb or '66 Deluxe Reverb, depending on situation. I play jazz mostly but also organ trio style funk.
The deja2 sounds very nice with this setup. I have never played an original Uni-vibe so I can't comment on the authenticity of the tone but it sounds great regardless. It's very quiet and doesn't mess with my tone when it's on or off. I mostly use the the vintage, and chorus setting to get that nice phase/grind that this pedal does so well. I have actually removed my phase 90 from my setup, since this covers some of the same gound and has the ability to change speed on the fly. I usually find that I crank the "intensity" knob to get a real wet sound, but even then it's not as wet as my phase 90. The taper of the speed treadle could be a little more even, but it still does it's job well.

It really is built like a tank, except for the footswitch. I have an older one with the old style switch with the rubber grommet and plastic cap. Sometimes I have to step on it twice to get it to work and sometimes it cuts out entirely. One of these days I'll just breakdown and order one of the new DPDT that are available. The new pedals come with the new switch so this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Guitars: Gibson Custom Shop Flying V, Guild Starfire 4, Epiphone Coronet, Gibson Firebird Amp: Peavey Classic 50 (2X12). Most of the time the Deja Vibe 2 is my only effect (occasionally use original TS9 Tube Screamer). I have no real need to mimic the sounds of other artists, though my favorite guitarists are Curt Kirkwood, Eddie Van Halen, and Glenn Phillips. The Deja Vibe sounds pretty darn good. No complaints.

Ture bypass, no noise. I set this up first in my effects chain. It is followed by a cry baby, tubescreamer, Lovetone Brown Source and a volume pedal. I get the best true uni-vibe sound using this pedal with my strats or my tele, through my 65 Super Reverb. When I plug in my Les Pauls and play this through my Marshall combo, I usually stop immediatly and go back to the Strats & The Super. The sound gets muddy (in my opinion) when used with Pauls or Marshalls. However, the uni-vibe sound screams through the Fender equipment and brings back the days of old. This is such an important weapon in my arsenal. The key here is to avoid being a 16 year old with his/her first pedal, and using it for every song. Be select, less is more, and all that other advisory BS. Whewn you need that Hendrix, Trower, SRV vibe- this pedal has IT.

I love this pedal. I have been playing for 35 years and I have played on every typr of guitar, through every type of amp and have owned pedals that today would fetch me thousands of dollars. This is no BS- I once drove to gigs in a 57' Chevy convertable, playing a 64 Strat through a BLONDE Band Master, Using a Clyde McCoy Vox Waa, and a DA fuzz. I remember sellin all that stuff in 69' cos it was old and I heard transistors were the way to go. ( I said I was old, not smart) This pedal rules. It is a must. It is pricey, but not when you consider what you're getting for your money. I mean after all, what do you want, the perfect steak, or the double cheeseburger for $.99

I'm a fussy old guy who has been playing a long time. I use several different guitars, mostly strats, through a 50 watt Plexi reissue. I have a couple of tunes in my repertoire that could really benefit from the Univibe sound: Little Wing and Cold Shot. I bought both the top-rated clones, the Deja Vibe 2 with integral foot pedal and the Prescription Electonics Vibe Unit for a mini shootout. The Deja Vibe arrived first, and it is a very nice piece of craftsmanship. The hammered metal finish is very attractive and the switches are beefy. The unit is signed by Fuller on the bottom. Nice to see good old American pride in manufacturing a top-quality product. The unit comes with an AC power cord, too, which may or may not suit your setup. The treadle changes the speed of the sweep from slow to fast as you rock it forward. I plugged the unit in and was pleased with the sound. It's got a vintage or modern rocker switch that changes the output level a bit. There isn't a bad sound to had from this unit. The only major gripe I have is that the pedal is very short throw when it gets up to the higher speeds. In order to nail Cold Shot, you've got to have the vibrato going at just the right speed, and this was almost impossible to dial in, owing to the very short travel at the fast end.
The Prescription Electronics Vibe Unit arrived a week later direct from PEI in beautiful Portland, Oregon, at the full retail price of $299, you can't buy one in a store, apparently. PE wants to keep a small operation and eliminate the middle man, at least on that model. Fine with me. The Vibe Unit is a white box indifferently finished in white enamel. Utilitarian, but not artistic. The footswitch is a somewhat delicate looking piece compared to the Fulltone item, but I don't intend to jump up and down on it in a frenzy any time soon, so it'll probably hold up for my purposes. I pulled out my SRV "war club" strat for the purpose of finding the elusive Cold Shot magic. This is a custom built Warmoth parts guitar with a massive reverse boat neck and jumbo frets loaded with Texas Specials and tuned down to E flat with substantial strings. Upon firing the Vibe Unit up, I was pleased to find that the speed dial gave a much longer taper, so I was able to dial in my tempo with relative ease. On Cold Shot, the intensity at setting ten proved to be a little over the top, so I backed it down to about six. I was also smiling broadly by this time, because goodness gracious, this thing has GOT THE JELLY! It has the *exact* sound you want when spending big bucks for a vibe unit. As noted by others, the sound of this pedal feels like an integral part of your tone, not a grafted-on overlay. There is no specification for this, it's a sense of organic unity that either happens or doesn't. A mysterious and difficult quest, requiring a lot of listening tests. The fellow who built this pedal has got the ear for the task at hand, no question about it. I have not heard any original Univibes, and thus will award this unit a 9, based on the possibility that there may be an even more thrilling oldie out there. But I doubt it.
The difference between the Deja Vibe and the PE item, which actually sound quite similar at first listen, seems to be the start of the sweep. The Deja Vibe, or at least my sample, makes a thumping sound at the beginning of the upswell, which sounds something like "wubba wubba." The PE pedal has a much smoother lead-in, more like "wuwwa wuwwa," with the result that your phrases seem more springy and allow the riffs to kind of launch on their own. It has that much sought-after feelgood factor that can only be had from tone that is harmonically aligned. Buy one now if you want the sound.

The pedal is shaped like a wah pedal, for pedal speed control and has 1 rotary 'Intensity' knob on the top left corner. There is an on/off bypass footswitch located on the left heel(with LED on top left) , directly above it are a choice of Modern/Vintage and Chorus/Vibrato. The housing is 16 gauge welded steel, very tough. Very simple to use, either turn it on and move from speed to speed or leave it at specific position. No need for manual, but manual gives you mainly directions of what to do if pedal is damaged. The only upgrade to this model is a (stereo) version.

I am using this with a Fender 'Roadhouse' stratocaster, an Ibanez 'ts-09', Zoom '509'(soley for distortion), Boss OD-3, and Vox wah, going into a Fender 'Super' amp. The 'Deja-2' is noiseless, and comes with a hardwire bypass(no signal loss). It can give anyone the 'vibe' "tone" of 'Hendrix' and countless others. My current effects line up other than the 'Deja-2' are just 'holdovers' until I decide on a choice of quality 'longrun' effects. Even with these effects, the 'Deja-2' can still give me the tone I want to 'Replicate'(from Jimi, Trower, etc..) or invent. The pedal makes a beautiful ' 60's/70's ' tone, when between an 'OD-3' and 'Tubescreamer'(with Tubescreamer 1st from guitar, used a boost). It gets the best 'Uni-vibe' tone with the majority of the gain after it, from the guitar. The 'Deja-2' is the best quality combined with ease of use, 'vibe' unit I have ever heard.

I have a quote for this pedal "So far, so good, so what?". My answer to that is - the 'Deja-2' has a 5 year warranty, and is built like an important piece of construction equipment. It has a fuse replacment on the outer left corner and a detachable 3-prong plug(not a usual AC adapter). I would use it on a gig without a backup, due to it's quality construction and features. This pedal was well mapped out, before put on the market.

This company has the best customer support, I have EVER even heard stories about. I am NOT exaggerating, and I think that Mike Fuller(Fulltone) should get an award for his customer service. I bought my 'Deja-2' at a music store, and I was told it had just been opened, only 1 week before. It was actually a store model and I did not feel comfortable with a semi-used pedal for the price I paid. I called the music store and got 3 different stories about the reason this pedal was out of the box. After these problems, I E-mailed(including my Cellphone#) Mike Fuller from the 'Fulltone' website, and wrote him of my problems. Exactly 3 minutes after I E-mailed him, I left for work. And literally 15 minutes after I E-mailed him, he called me on my cell phone. I was so suprised, because I was in Connecticut and he called from south California. We talked about my problem, he paged an employee, told him to take a pedal off of a foreign shipment and ship a new one to Connecticut(to a licensed Ct. dealer). I brought my pedal to the dealer and exchanged it for an unopened, brand new one. Mike was very 'real', he didn't talk like a con-artist businessman, he talked like a person who understood what working for your money was. Fulltone customer support is AMAZING!!!!!

I play many styles of music, and the 'Deja-2' covers different parts of all styles. I've been playing for 9 years and have not yet come across a pedal made with this quality. I have tried out the 'Dunlop Rotovibe' and 'Uni-vibe reissue', 'Voodoo Lab Micro-Vibe', 'Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe', 'Deja-Vibe'(original), and others. If this pedal were stolen, I would try out the 'Deja-2'(stereo) and buy that or the 'Deja-2'. I love nearly all the components, except for the sweep
range from 'Slow' to 'Fast' with the foot pedal(very quick). Overall averaging the specs on the pedal, and the customer service, this pedal gets a 12.

Okay, I though that it was too dark. I play a vinatge Nocaster & it doesn't
get much brighter then that. The vibrato is basically useless. I thought
this pedal was the holy grail when I was jamming in my bedroom, but it
just gets drowned out to easily. Just as the original Deja Vibe, I like my
effects to be nearly transparent, not invisible. I do like the swirling vibe
thang, but it is for "very specific" needs. I cannot imagine using this in
more then 3 or 4 songs a night. It is very hard to get a comfortable setting
& stick with it. I hope your ankles are in good shape.

Overall this is a cool pedal that targets a specific need. It is not intended
as a straight chorus so don't buy it if you want chorus. I would line this
up more with fuzzes in that they both have specific uses & only certain
peple need them. This is by no means a verstail pedal nor is it menat to be.
Unless you are a vibe-nut, I think you could easily survive w/o this pedal
& save yourself some big $$$. Bottom Line...............sold on E-Bay

It's very simple to figure out due to the obvious parameters which affect the device-- modulation speed and intensity. The controls are nicely laid out and the unit has a great operational "feel". Instruction sheet isn't necessary, but it's a welcome addition--it has suggestions for the order of effects. As others have mentioned, the pot's taper is a bit compressed when shifting from slow to fast, but I haven't found it to be objectionably so. Mine is numbered #100, so this may/may not still be the case.
Sound Quality
:10
Sounds great! I can't compare the DejaVibe's sound/fidelity to other "Vibe" units since I don't own any others. (As 'spensive as they generally are, I don't know how many folks could own more than one.) In fact, before buying this I wasn't certain of what distinguished the legendary UniVibe phase shifter from the garden-variety phase shifters I've owned through the years. Sure, I've heard all the familiar Univibe "anthems", but you don't get a clear idea of the difference until you try one. It's the quirkiness of the slightly-retro technology which gives this unit, and the songs recorded with it, a subtle but distinctive tone. I guess Fulltone does a great job, because I could hear the "Machine Gun" thing right off the bat, and the strong modulation dips explain how Hendrix was able to get some of the "tortured" sounding phrases near the beginning of the song and the occasional "vowel-ish" sounds.
It's a very quiet unit, and the true bypass eliminates a major weakness of the original design (so I've read). The variety provided by the rocker switches are somewhat useful-- subtle, and not earth-shattering. I suspect that most folks would leave it in the Chorus mode instead of the vibrato mode; the vintage/modern switch doesn't make a dramatic difference if you've got distortion effects following it. (As a tinkerer, I wish it had a few more knobs, but that would detract from its retro-roots.)
Reliability
:10
The case is really solid, as others have said. I think that the one weakness is probably common to all Vibe units, and due to the nature of the beast. The effect relies on a small grain-of-wheat bulb (not an LED) to drive the modulation. I imagine that the sucker will someday burn out or the filament will open due to a jarring force. It does bother me that while the unit is plugged in, that little light is busy pulsing, even in bypass mode. As good at customer service as Michael Fuller is, I'd rather have a spare on hand to solder in myself. Nevertheless, since this isn't about the merits of the basic technology, I'd have to give this unit good marks for the housing construction and circuit-board work. (I've modified one of Fulltone's other pedals and NO wires are EVER going to jar loose!)

From previous contact, all I can say is that everything good that folks have said about Michael Fuller is true. 'Nuff said.

From what I've seen, most Vibes are pricey. There are more economical phase shift effects which get that general type of sound. However, once you know the Vibe sound, you'll become sensitized to the difference. So it's a purist's pedal; A Hendrix-buff's must-have. It can also seem like a real luxury since the effect consumes considerable real estate for a "one-trick pony". The Vibe is not the best Leslie speaker simulation, and it doesn't sound like a jetting Flanger. Again though, it does the Jimi Hendrix thing very well, especially in Fulltone's implementation. The "Band of Gypsies" album blew me away when it came out, and this pedal gets you closer to the tonality-- so I'm extremely satisfied (but considerably poorer). Unfortunately, you can't buy the inspired improvisation part... Fulltone's version of the Vibe (a 10-rated effect type in my book) doesn't have any significant weaknesses, so it gets good marks. For my particular interests, I knock one point off for the lack of extra knobs & tweakability-- not Fulltone's fault, but such would add extra value for me...
