Fulltone Deja Vibe 2

very easy to use, one speed pedal control, intensity knob, vintage/modern switch, & chorus/vibrato switch. great idea to put the modulation speed under foot control; you can attain great effects by changing speeds on the fly.

this effect does not wash away the sound of your guitar rig, it enchances it. I feel this is what a good FX box should do. It works better w/single coil PU than humbuckers. I use a G & L S500, Gibson SG, Ibanez 'Paul & Fender Tele. Amps are a Silver Marshall & a Princeton 'verb. The guys that made the 'vibe sound famous (Hendrix, Trower, Isely, SRV) are using strats, so I think your ear naturally gravitates to that sound. Other effects in the chain are a Klon, RMC wah, & MXR analog delay. For me that's alot of boxes on the floor. I run the Klon between the guitar & amp, & use FX loop on the Marshall for the rest. The Princeton gets the whole FX chain at the input. It gets a little hissy, but never hums. A little noise is part of the equation; after all it's a guitar rig, not a hi fi PA. I almost always use the modern/chorus setting on the Deja; it sounds full, but not overpowering. The vibrato setting seems weaker with a full band playing loud. Overall if you want that watery, swimmy, phase shifty effect, this is your pedal. I tried the Dunlop & wasn't impressed. The Deja may seem kinda spendy, but you get what you pay for. If the vibrato setting were a little richer, I'd give this pedal a 10.

I've had the Deja for a couple of years, & recently I sent it in to Fulltone for an adjustment on the speed control. It came back quickly, & sounded good as new. It's built like a tank & should survive years of club/bar abuse. I love that it has a built in AC power supply with a long enough cord.

I've seen complaints on here about poor service from Fulltone, but that has not been my experience. My other guitarist had his OCD pedal dropped on a cement floor so he sent it back. It was fixed free of charge. Fulltone service appears to be as good as their pedals. I hope everyone has the same experience in the future.

I'm an old guy who plays blues/rock from the 60's to present day tunes. All my gear is pretty old school (no modelers or digital FX) tubes & classic style axes, so the Deja fits in nicely. I found the Deja @ Eddie's Guitars in St Louis. I didn't feel like looking all over for a pedal, & they had a nice selection of vibes, trems, & chorus FX. For me, one of the coolest things about playing is to not only play the notes right on covers, but to nail the sound as well. I've been an FOH & monitor engineer for 20+ years & heard everything from great to horrifying tones. If you want to go over big in front of an audience, SPEND THE TIME & MONEY TO GET AN AUTHENTIC SOUND! If you're happy to rock out in your bedroom or basement, play whatever gear you feel like buying. But show some respect for yourself, your band, and your audience & don't shortchange your tone with crappy sounding gear. The most expensive piece or the one with the most knobs is not always the best solution. Use your ears as well as your fingers. If it sounds & feels right, go for it. As far as rating the Deja, I almost never give out a 10 when rating anything, but this is a very strong 9+. It's one of those pieces like a great guitar or amp that just makes you feel like playing more.

Very easy to use, never had any difficulties. It comes with some explanation of how to get different sounds out of it in case you are totally brain dead.

Beautiful sound quality, never heard a better chorus. Im not really into the tremolo effect but i'd never use that anyways. Id recommend this to anyone.

Just bought it, only been using it for about a week. It's solid metal and feels heavy, durable. I'm sure it'll last and it actually came with a 5 year warranty.

Never had any reason to contact the company, all 3 of their pedals that I own have worked perfectly since I got them.

Anyone who likes chorus effect, or doesnt even know what chorus can make you sound like, must try this pedal. Absolutely love it, worth every penny. Fulltone rocks

The switch for Vintage / Modern ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING on this model....which MOST of them don't....I prefer the fuzzyness of the vintage tone on a clean strat sound..but the Mod tone stands out better with a LP / Mesa Boogie kind of grit tone....flipping the switch with a toe is easier then changing the guitar is.

Intensity knob is EASY to toe and move....not usually by accident because of it's location in the shadow of the rocker pedal...

Vol knob is too easy to move (by accident OR on purpose)....acts SORT of like a second Vol Pedal...to quick cut off...so great utilitarian use there to stop feedbacks or nasty cable pops when swapping guitars on stage...dig me?

almost like having a Demi-God in a small box.....
except it doesn't require a blood sacrifice to function.

it is better tone then most of the remaining original Uni-Vibe's are...I've tried three and considered dropping a grand to get one...but really..>WHERE would I take it to get it fixed...or replace it if I had to.....not worth the money if I'm USING it...only as a collection piece....so Fulltone is the ONLY thing I can find out here that ACTUALLY delivers THAT tone...not some Dunlop-ish approximation.

works well in effects loop AND frontside...I use it frontside and all my Electro Harmonix stuff alone in the loop since they often have some (ground loop and power on the live line) issues in their higher end analog pedals....talking to serious pedal board tech now and re-housing somestuff to end these issues once and for all.

Just got it a month ago....still kicking it around town.

tell you when it comes to that.....and it will eventually...

I swapped two dunlop crappers///a Roto-Vibe and a Uni-Vibe for half the cost of this pedal...and I feel COMPLETELY satisfied with the effect for the price paid.

Pretty obvious how to use the controls, easy to grasp. However the foot control is really hard to dial in at the end of the toe range. Goes from medium speed to really fast in a very short amount of space. Others have commented on this in their reviews.

This pedal sounds great, it really nails that watery, chorus, almost leslie like thing. However I want more of it. I cant get enough of the effect for my taste, even with the intensity set to 10, and Im usually not one to over saturate my sound with effects. Also, I feel theres a small but noticeable volume drop when the pedal is activated. Its odd that this pedal didnt come with a volume control the way the other fulltone univibes do.

Could easily gig without a backup. Super solid construction.

This is a solid product. However for the price, it just isnt worth it for me. The effect level is just not strong enough, and it can get drowned out while jamming with other people as others have noted. Ive had this effect for a few months now, and I just feel its tying up money that I could use for other equipment. Fulltone almost did it here, but for the price you pay, the drawbacks are just too glaring.

This is a straight forward very easy to use pedal. I bought mine used with no manual no nothing. This is the 3rd vibe pedal that I have owned. The first was the Dunlop which I found to be overpowering and difficult to "tame". The second was the Voodoo Lab MicroVibe which got me in the right zipcode but not to the correct address however, was very easy to use as well. Basically you have an intensity knob on the Dejavibe and you can switch between tremolo and chorus and another switch for Modern/Vintage.

My setup is huge. I own many guitars but mainly gig with a US Strat loaded with EMG DG's, Gibson Les Paul loaded with EMG ZW set, Gibson Flying V with EMG 89 and 81, a Fender "franken"strat loaded with EMG 81/S/S and sometimes I use a Zion also loaded with EMG ZW. So I guess you can say I like the EMG's. I run this into a ton of gear but ultimately it's a Booge Triaxis with Boogie 2:90 in stereo. The Dejavibe runs front end of the chain so far..I will experiment some more but so far I like this spot quite a bit. It's very quiet overall. This is the best sounding vibe I have owned of the 3...mentioned above that I have had. It really does sound very authentic to the Jimi, Trower, Frampton type of thing. It sounds great both in modern and in vintage setting and I find myself playing around with them quite a bit. The single coils seem to sound best particularly in the neck positions of my strats. However, the cover band that I am in plays classic rock to heavy metal and I find myself kicking this on during solos and in some cases it sound great such as the outro triad bit at the end of Bark at The Moon or during the solos to La Grange for example. Not tunes that originally called for this effect but they work well. And herein lies the real deal, the Dejavibe is very musical and inspiring. One of the setting I have had fun with is the Deja and the panner effect of my TC GMajor...very cool sounding almost perfectly emulating the Bridge of Sighs vibe with some great left right ear play. I know this effect is expensive but of the 3 I have had it truly is the one that sounds the best in my ears. I could not be happier. Unlike other reveiws, I find it sits in the mix very nicely not overpowering and not to far behind. If I feel the highs are being cut as other have mentioned, I switch to the modern settings and seems to clean it up. You have to remember, the vibe pedal has a cycling motion by design and when it is on the lower (down) part of the curve it will darken some. Setting the rate faster will re-coop quicker thus allowing you to get the down part of the curve for shorter amount of time. I don't like phasers...owned many and still do, I just think they are to overbearing. This sits very nicely in the mix and is very inspiring to play with. I have spent hours just experimenting with it. Even the band I am in has taken notice and dig it and lets face it, singers and drummers are not always aware of the nuances of an effect such as this but on gigs and at rehearsals I have gotten some compliments on it. You really can't go wrong with the Dejavibe it's as close as I know of that you are going to get authentic old school vibe. On one last note, clean tone vs distorted tones to have an impact, medium distortion tones are very sweet and clean tones also very sweet. It does not necessarily dow well on super overdriven tones but it does add a cool cycle. This is a bluesman's dream vibe.

I have never dealt with the company

As stated above I am in a cover band that runs just about every style of rock from the 60's forward. I find this pedal easy to use, sounds very authentic, excellent colors and it sits very nicely in the mix. I think some folks might be running it in strange spots in thier chain. I am using it dead first and really have gotten good results. When I run a compressor in front of it..it gets squashed. I do not use distortion boxes opting for amp overdrive. I also use a Voodoo Proctavia pedal which allows for a full on Jimi style assalt in fact I play Star Spangled Banner at each of our shows using the Dejavibe and the Proctavia...it's pure Hendrix bliss, harmony and chaos all at once. I highly recommend this pedal and would replace it as quickly as possible if I lost it. Nothing gets a 10 so I give it a 9.

I have to take issue with anyone that would go through these reviews and give any product all 10's as some people have.
I bought this new in 01 and I really liked it at the time as it was the first vibe unit I had heard in person. The sound files sounded nice and what drew me to it most was the built in speed pedal.

My issue with the sound quality is that it is not even aproaching a transparent sound on the Chorus setting, but it is much more so on the tremolo setting which I consider useless for the most part so that point is moot. Maybe the effect has faded over time if that is possible because I remember liking it much more when I first bought it but I am now looking at buying other vibe pedals, particularly the PE unit which seems to get good reviews.

I have a 90's strat plus with texas specials that I think is a beautiful sounding guitar through my marshall 50w plexi head and 1960TV cab or through my Reverend Hellhound combo amp. But the Deja'2 sound cuts out a lot of the highs and seems to dull the sound or make it muddy. I didn't notice it as much with the original gold lace sensors that were in the guitar but after installing the texas specials I noticed that a lot of that great sound was lost through the pedal.
It has a rocker switch for modern and vintage but the vintage setting is even darker sounding. The intensity knob works well and changes the sound when adjusted but the built in speed pedal is nearly useless which is disappointing because it was my major reason for buying this very expensive pedal.
My major complaint with the speed pedal is the same as noted in other reviews, as you rock it forward there is very little change in the effect speed until the last 1/4 inch of travel where it ramps up very fast and is almost impossible to adjust accurately which gives you basically from slow to medium to wide open which isn't enough control to get use out of the top end of the speed.

Tremolo isn't very good sounding at all but it is surprisingly transparent compared to the chorus setting and much more of the tone of the guitar comes through though this is worthless to me because I can't stand the sound of the tremolo.

I really can't recommend this pedal to anyone because if you are a tone freak then you will probably be disappointed in the muddiness of the pedal in the chorus setting and if you are not a tone freak than there are much cheaper univibe clones or chorus pedals out there that sound just as good.

I think it is constructed very well and wouldn't be afraid to stand on it. Seems to be made with quality parts and hasn't ever given me any issues as far as reliability is concerned.

Never dealt with Fulltone other than buying the pedal almost 7 years ago.

Overall I'd rate this pedal a mediocre univibe unit at best. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't spend $350 on it.

This pedal is sooo simple to get good sounds out of. You just plug in, turn a knob, press a foot pedal, and you're in Jimi-land.

The manual is straightforward and foolproof.

I LOVE the sounds out of this vibe. You get the Hendrix, Trower thang right there with no problems. It's F'n legit, and I love it!

I use this with 3 amps: '67 Fender Pro Reverb, Matchless DC30, and a Fargen MiniPlex combo. You honestly can't get a bad sound out of this pedal. This thing inspires me to play.

As far as guitars are concerned, the usual suspects: Strats, Teles, Lesters, and more Strats and Lesters...and an ES335 also.

The Deja2 is pretty quiet. It doesn't add any noticeable noise.

Again, it is not possible to get bad sounds out of this pedal. It's my favorite unit so far.

Looks like an Hummer H1, but I can't vouch for it's reliability. I just haven't owned it long enough. I feel very confident of it FWIW.

Haven't needed them on this pedal...but Fulltone support quality is NOT why you buy these pedals...otherwise, you wouldn't buy these pedals.

I can gush about this thing more, but I won't. Basically, it does exactly what I bought it for...BUT, the treadle leaves a bit to be desired. Like others mentioned, it goes from 0-10000 in a micrometer. I wish the slow to fast settings were much more gradual. But the workaround is using your hands to adjust speed...which defeats the purpose of the pedal...should I have got the mini-deja? NO! This thing rocks!!!!!

The Deja Vibe 2 is straight forward and simple to use. Plug in and go.

My favorite artist, those who have been of most influence on me, include, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Jesse Johnson, Eddie Hazel, Mike Hampton, Glenn Goins, Ernie Isley, Eric Gales, Bernard Allison, Buddy Guy, Albert King.. Well I could go on, but Hendrix is at the top. If you are looking for the Band of Gypsies/Woodstock tone-sound, this pedal is a must. My main setup is a 70's Fender Strat, Vox Wah, Fulltone Full Drive II mosfet, Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz, Fulltone Deja Vibe 2 into a Mesa Boogie 4x10 Blue Angel. I have been playing for over 20 years, semi professionally, and this is by far my favorite rig. The Deja Vibe is solid, reliable, and rich. The vibe is deep and can take the tone into some interesting places.

I'd go on a gig without a backup because as much as I enjoy my pedal arrangement, 90 percent of my tone is in my hands and heart. However, I like having the Deja Vibe alot!

Haven't had to call Fulltone.

I play music that is rooted in R & B and Funk and Blues and Rock. I like a sound that comes from a place people have kinda forgotten about. I also own a Gibson Les Paul and a couple of Fender Strats, and use mainly Mesa Boogie amps. I do have a Fender Amp however. Fulltone, Roger Mayer and Vox are my pedals of choice. I think that the only thing I don't like is the vibrato, it's kinda weak and nowhere near a Fender vibrato like on a Twin or Deluxe. Pedals can sometimes get in a musicians way if they rely on them too much. But if you use them and they contribute to painting your sound, your're ok. My current setup including the Deja Vibe allows me to accomplish this.

Very cool options on this, while keeping it simple, for the most part. I'm glad this doesn't have the volume knob, like the old gold one. Bad idea. Who wants to kick on an effect and have the volume be quieter than your regular tone. Great features, easy to use.

This is the best vibe unit I've ever played. I'm sure there are better ones out there for different reasons, whether it's speed control, depth, or what-the-fuck-ever, but these are great. I think most guys play these in their basements, by themselves. These people are never happy with anything because they have no one to play with. I just got back from playing this cranked through a twin reverb. Everyone really dug it. It hangs in with the band and doesn't fall into the background when you switch the effect on. My old gold dejavibe did fall into the background and I sold it for that reason...don't ever buy one of those...total crap. Great for recording, not so great for playing live. This is a great pedal, not worthy of a 10 rating because I could gig without it and be happy.

I'm sure it would last, but all things eventually break down. I'm sure I'll wear out the switch eventually, but I would gig without a backup.

Mike's customer service? As Borat would say, "Not so much." His customer service leaves something to be desired. He's selling enough pedals to have a customer service department.

Make it easy on those of us who buy your expensive gear, Mike. Yes, we're idiots. If we were any smarter we'd learn to make our own pedals and put you out of business, but we're not.

Cool pedal, great options, and good tone. If you're a Hendrix/Trower dork then I'm sorry, oops...I mean buy this pedal. Just try to do something original with it, unless you're doing 10 minute long "Bridge of Sighs" cover songs and you've got to rock out with it.

Pretty straight forward to use, seems best early in the chain, maybe after a wah, but before everything else. As for using it tastefully, that is up to the user, pedal itself is simple.

Sound is exactly what I was hoping for; very convincing uni-vibe sort of thing. Playing through a '68 Deluxe Reverb and/or a JTM45 style amp, with a modded DS-1, Ts9. I have had Rotovibes, and the dunlop version, and this one is a totally different sort of thing. This pedal sounds like a real univibe, which I have never played, but have heard plenty. If you are looking for a versitile chorus/vibrato unit, this is probably not for you; if you are looking for that very unique univibe thing, than it is the best I have heard. I have not tried some of the other like priced pedals often compared, but I like the built in foot control for speed, and I can not imagine that any of the others are much more authentic. They may well be better for what some people are trying to accoplish, but if you are looking for real deal univibe sound, this is a great place to start.

Mine is a 1999 and it seems as though it should be good for another 8 years at least. It is fairly new to me so I will reserve judgement, although this pedal is built extremely well and I would certainly gig without a backup.

Overall I find this to be a great pedal; it does exactly what I hoped it would do, and exceeds my expectations by a fair amount. I have played for about 20 years and have purchased several vibe and phase units over the years; this is the only one that I have tried that does what I want it to do. There are many good vibe and phase units on the market, but if you are looking for that Hendrix/Trower/Gilmour sort of thing, this is a tough one to beat. For what it is worth, I have never felt compelled to submit a review for any other pedal, but this is one of the most accurately advertised pedals I have ever touched and as such I feel a good review is in order. I feel like some of the negative responses are from people who probably should not have spent their money on any sort of univibe style pedal, because it is simply not the "vibe" they are looking for. It is an odd pedal that is probably of very limited use for many players. Think Octavia, sort of a love it or have no use for it kind of thing.

It's dead simple to operate.

If you are looking for something in the Univibe range you will be disappointed. You choices are limited to chorus and vibrato, "vintage" or "modern", and they are equally tepid. I've now owned (past tense) the Deja 2, a Choralflange, a Fulldrive, and a '69 and my complaint is the same with all of them: they are sterile, lifeless, uninspiring pedals. They just have no soul.

I cannot fault the construction of these devices. The build quality is second to none. I think that's where a lot of folks get hung up over Fulltone. It's difficult to reconcile that something so well made could sound so neuter.

I tried to contact Fuller at one point to make some suggestions for improving the Deja 2 and was told, in no uncertain terms, that my input was less than welcome. Very unpleasant.

This is an update to my previous review of this product, model #777.
I had this pedal for near 4 months, and it failed to work. The on/bypass switch simply toggled from bypass, to off. Yes, switching the pedal on just cut all the sound to silence, and no operational light showed on the pedal. How long the pedal had been in the shop for, I cant comment, but it ceased to work after a short while in my hands, in my bedroom.
My '2' rating is based on the faulty pedal.

After contacting the place where I purchased the pedal from, I sent back my faulty pedal, and after month, or there abouts, I recived a brand new DejaVibe2, model #1031 07-05. All seems OK with the pedal. Judging by the other number, it would seem like a date, i.e the old pedal was 2002, 3 years old.
Hopefully this new DejaVibe will last a lot longer than the last.

The pedal is extremely simple to use. The manual is not needed to understand and learn how to make great sounds witht this pedal. Most parts are self explainatory, but there a few parts that need a little explaining.

Vibrato/Chorus switch: This gives either a setting that sounds like that of Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix etc. That swirling, warm sound, in the chorus mode, or a strange vibrato style sound that bend the notes a little. That is the vibrato mode.

Modern/Vintage switch: This changes the sound character of the pedal. The modern setting gives a brighter, clearer, cleaner sound. This is a useful setting for more moddern styles, and for more high gain amp settings. Vintage provides the warmer, little more organic sounding effect. This sound is closer to Trower/Hendrix.

This review is based on the pedal running through a Line6 POD2.0 and a pair of Fostex PM0.5 active studio monitors. Various guitars were used, USA Customshop Fender Strat, Texas Special loaded Fender Mexican 50's strat, Tokai LS80f, Ibanez JS6.

The main reason for the purchase of the pedal was the chorus effect, to get a similar sound to that of the guitarists mentioned above, so the Vibrato hardly ever gets used. The pedal does perform amazingly well at getting the right sound. Its a toneful, warm, full, round sound that comes out of the pedal. Vintage and Chorus are the two settings that provide a really amazing tone.

Running the pedal in Modern and Chorus mode, allows us to reach Joe Satriani style sounds, similar to those on 'Crystal Planet'. This sound has a cleaner sound that allows more presence to come through and avoids mudding up the high gain amp setting.

The speed setting on the pedal allows one to go from a quite slow effect, probably more slow than would be needed in most situations, to a fast pace that resembles 'Trundrumbalind' from Joe Satrini's 'Crystal Planet album'. There is aloowances for fine adjustment with the treddle, but feet are normally too clumsy to get exactly the right speed.

Intensity takes us from a subtle, almost hardly noticable effect, to a fully wet, almost insane level of effect. The intesity is useable in all postitions on its rotary pot, though, there isnt a bad position here.

The overall sound of the pedal really does a great job of preserving your guitars tone all the way through each setting. Not really, at any point, does the guitar lose its signature tone. There is no added buzz or hiss, nor is there any loss of volume.

-Comparisons-
This pedal was compared to the Dunlop Univibe UV1. The UV1 did not have the same depth or warmth to the sound as did this one. The sound was a little weak, and uninspiring.
A Roger Mayer VoodooVibe was also compared to the DejaVibe. The VoodooVibe was like a multieffects box. There was a lot of scope for finding new inspiring sounds, but it did tend to sound a little sterile, and a bit square. It didn't seem to want to let the guitar tone through, withought processing it.
A Roger Mayer VoodooVibe Jnr. was also compared, with very similar characteristics to the larger sibling.

This pedal weighs a fair amount. You can see the quality of parts used here, there is a large bolt that holds the treddle, and every part fits tight, and doesn't wobble. Switches are solid as is the intensity knob.
This pedal is built incredibly well, and should last a long time.

The pedal provides the best sound between a Dunlop UV1, and Roger Mayer's VoodooVibe/Jr. The Fulltone is much stronger in build that either the Mayer or Dunlop. The sound is more natural, and warmer than the other two. The addition of the speed treddle will help out live, where as the UV1 will need the separate controller, im not sure if there is a foot controller for the Mayer's.

Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Joe Satrini, Steve Vai...and loads more. This pedal will give the great vibe sound that so many guitarists have used.
Simply amazing.

The pedal can be run either in the front end, or in the effects loop (if the amp has one). Running in the loop tends to add a little extra clarity to the sound, and sounds a little more hifidelity. I had tried this through a Mesa Boogie amp in the shop. The difference was only subtle.

If you are looking for the 'univibe effect' then listen to as many as you can. There are certainly many on the market, and something a little cheaper than this may give you the sounds you prefer..ie Roger Mayer. If you're looking for authenticity, the Fulltone will not dissapoint you.

Sounds OK.....but a little on the thin side. There is a preamp mod that he is now doing to the mini deja that beefs up the sound. This pedal needs that. I emailed him quite a few times to enquire as to whether or not he could do this mod to the Deja 2 (same circuit, right) Finally after impartial responses to my inquiries he flat out said that no, he would not. I guess it didn't matter to him that I also puchased his Octafuzz and Fat Boost. And I guess my $349 dollar vibe pedal was not of priority to him either. It's ok because I use it only for vibrato, because my Captain Coconut provibe is WAAAY more lush and thick, and it has a wider variation of sounds and controls.

Haven't taken it out so I cannot say.

See the sound quality entry above, I have dealt with numerous individuals (John Suhr OD-100 3+SE designer comes to mind) who exhibits the utmost graciousness when it comes to working on or modifiying gear that THEY design and/or manufacture. When you are given the bum's rush and told that NO, I WILL NOT HELP YOU EVEN THOUGH I CAN you tend to not want to put money in that person's pocket. As a result, I have done some righteous trades with my other two fulltone pedals towards other things that work better.

If it were stolen or broken, I'd be better of with a prescription or sweet sound vibe. I would not buy another fulltone product, period.

I wanted something to put shimmer behind my basic strat tone for some songs. I am totally satisfied with the basic strat+EL84 chime straight up for most music but everybody wants that hammond thing. Over the years I owned a Univibe, Voodoo micro vibe, a sweet sound, and the Fulltone. The Fulltone was one of the better ones but still didn't cut it. It colored and took away the underlying class A + strat tone. I worked with it for several months until I found out the secret (see below) I sold the Fulltone for a decent price.

Fulltone products are extremely well made. I've owned 2 other fulltone pedals.

I have played many years. I'm a tone freak like anyone who buys this high end stuff. Currently in an R+B / poprock / funk group gigging once or twice per month - I mostly enjoy party type gigs - dance stuff. I sold the fulltone about a year ago. The right tone had been under my nose for a long time. The secret was to use a high quality tremelo. I have stayed with the little known Monster Effects product ( Swamp Thang) - $200 and worth five times that. This gives me that shimmer behind my great strat tone. I always thought that a vibe was the answer - nope. No need to shop for vibes any more.

It's an exact Univibe sound, with the speed controller built in! Previous reviewer said it goes from slow to Fast way too fast, but that's how My old Univibe was, that's how the original Univibe's Oscillator is designed and you can't get that va-voom-va-voom Rythm if you change the oscillator like Captain Coconut, Sweet Sound etc. NO THNAKS! I'll take the Real thing/the Deja'Vibe 2 anyday!

It's a good sound. However, it's not nearly as good as the mojo vibe or the vibe on the Captain Coconut. it's not nearly as authentic.

I would NEVER recommend this pedal to anyone gong for the vibe sound. Go to analogman.com and check out the mojo vibe or the Capt. cocnut. Both are truer sounding units that have much more "mojo" to offer than this. I sold mine as quick as I bought it...took a $40 hit to dump it and considered myself lucky!

Well, it's noy very hard to use, but as in the other reviwes, the sweep at the very top cranks the speed of the warble too quickly. That is wat is hard to get used to, but it isn't the end of the world.

This is a top quality unit. I owned the Dunlop Univibe with external speed pedal. I mainly bought this one to have a more compact package, and I think the sound quality is bit better too. It isn't noisy, it does the vintage Univibe sound very well, and though I'm not an expert, I think the sound is true to the original units. I would love to hear the Mojovibe and others because people rave about them, but this is the only one I have seen in such a user-friendly package what with the integrated speed pedal and rocker switches on top. There is an internal pot for changing something about the sound that I want to toy with but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Apparently it can bust the lamps that make the chorus effect, so you can't turn it more than 1/16 either way! The vintage/modern switch is a nice touch. There's nothing but good sounds in this thing, but it never really sounds like a Leslie (most people recognize that fact).

I play a blues-based, jazz-influenced brand of rock if I have to describe it (join the club). I like this pedal alot. The best part is that I was able to buy it and pay for it with the Dunlop UV-1. That means I save space on my pedalboard and get the vintage/modern switch and slightly better sound quality for the same price. I also like the seperate stomp switch cuz the Dunlop works by pressing on the speed control. This way, you can keep the speed set where you want it, and not have to ramp up to find the speed you need. New, these things are so overpriced it's criminal! I got a good deal on mine and would never consider it for over $200. It's a 9 for tone, but you don't want to pay full price for one unless you're Peter Frampton. This is just a novelty sound that isn't necessary for most people, so at full retail the rating for value would be significantly lower. I would personally prefer a swtichable Tremolo instead of Vibrato mode but that's how they're made...

Pretty striaght forward... has an on/off stomp switch, a pedal to control the effect speed, a vibrato/chorus rocker switch, a modern/vintage rocker switch, and a rotary intensity control. My ONLY gripe with the unit is that the speed jumps from fairly fast to full tilt when you have the pedal near the top of it's throw. Easy enought to control if you move the pedal with your hand, but using your foot it's real hard to get a smooth transition up to full speed.

I have to say, I'm pretty stunned at the things this pedal does. I'd not had much experience with univibe clones, but I've never heard one that really inspires me the way this one does. Even on it's most subtle of settings it just adds some mojo, some soul, something, to whatever you're playing. It's hard to describe, it doesn't sound like an effect has been added to your guitar signal, it just becomes a part of your guitar. On it's most obtrusive of chorus settings you can get huge swirly entrancing sounds... put some distortion before it and it turns into some kind of superphaser, some distortion after it and you've got woodstock. ..Distortion before and after it and it's about the most (useably) interesting wall of sonics I've ever heard. To be honest I didn't expect to find the vibrato useful on this, I bought it for the chorus. Let me tell you, the vibrato is perfect. Ramp the speed all the way up and your guitar is transformed into an organ. Anything less than full speed you have to back the intensity off to keep from sounding sick and broken... but at low intensity it adds some sparkle to the signal.

It's extremely well built, and I haven't had a problem with it, nor do I anticipate having a problem with it. (I don't think that's just optimism)

I purchased this pedal based solely on a few audio clips and the raving reviews I read here. It was a gamble, especially for the price. I am not dissapointed, at all. If you're looking to get that univibe sound of days gone - this will do that (to my ears the chorus is a perfect replica of the sound in several Jimi songs i know and love)... if you're looking to carve out a new sound and need a very useable, very interesting, and very well done effect box - this will do that too. All in all just an excellent pedal.

you step on the switch, it is on, use your foot, right or left,,to adjust the speed,,,some have said it is a little difficult to nail the speed for "cold shot", but I don't think it's that big a deal,,,I mean when Stevie did that in the studio, I'm sure he did not have a big problem. easy to select either vibrato or chorus. This was made to exactly duplicate the original Univibe, which I have never played,,but I have listened to hendrix at woodstock enough to know that this gets that sound 100%!!! do you want other chorus sounds? well this was not really made with that in mind,,so with that in mind, for ease of use to get a authentic Jimi sound,,,a "10"

the effect is strong, it dominates, and perhaps has a slight boost to my ears. I use it mostly for the mellower hendrix, like "hey baby", in which I leave my od/fuzz pedals off,,cuz the dejavibe is loud enough, and I don't need the other pedals. Works allright for the trower songs,,but I would not really say it is for than 80% tailored for that sound,,,again it was designed to duplicate jimi's univibe!
I'll give it a 9, cuz I'm sure the purist would prefer a mint condition original univibe that jimi may have stepped on himself!

jap strat vintage pickups or hybrid strat w/slightly hotter pickups, or tokai lefty 64 copy strat vintage, into: black cat od1,black cat od/fuzz, thomas wah w/stack of dimes, dejavibe 2, ibanez flanger, ibanez delay/or aria vintage delay, dod stereo chorus, run in stereo to 2 peavey 212 classics, I seem to get more of the magical jimi sound through the dejavibe with the tokai strat, i am looking for another vibe product, perhaps less expensive, microvibe or more expensive ultravibe, to get more of the trower sound, pink floyd (breathe) and get the best of both worlds with one pedal, which I don't think the dejavibe2 does,,,,THOUGH AGAIN,,,,It was designed for the JIMI world,,,,so I will give it a 9,,,just subtracting a tad for the slight volume boost,,,If you do a jimi tribute band,,,this is a 200% must have (to me!)

This Pedal is pretty simple takes a couple of minutes of dialing in your tone , not much to tweak , and whammo you got the Hendrix, Trower type sound ,Its pretty simple .

My current set up is a Peavey triple XXX with Marshall 1960A cab , im an avowed effects junkie , even though i do firmly believe effects dont make the guitarist sound good , the guitarist makes the effects sound good , besides the Deja 2 I have a Digitech whammy ,Vox Wah , Line6 delay moulater , MXR phase 90 MXR 117 Flanger , Danelectro cool cat chorus , and a Boss OC-2 andBoss Acoustic Simulator , Ironically I bought the deja 2 because i love the Hendrix and Trower sound , I play gibsons predominantly and ESPs , Ive been playing awhile and i try effects all the time , I had originally tied out the Dunlop Rotovibe and the Voodoo Labs Microvibe , neither of which did it for me , this pedal was love at first bite .What I do when I get a new toy is to first disconnect all my other pedals and just play the new one , so I could get te true sound of the effect without possible outside interference from another effect , well I did it with the deja 2 and man it was sweet , I keep my triple XXX on the crunch channel mostly and man the sound was awsome , realistically I could just play with this effect and sound mint , Now , Im a tough son of gun to please , Im fussy as hell with my tone , so when i tell you the pedal sounded mint , I think i made a great choice , to me sound is everything , and this babys got it in spades , so if you looking for that Hendrix ,Trower vibe this is it , I keep mine on Chorus ,with the intensity all the way with vintage setting for that watery univibe sound. awsome . I just got it , but the things built like a tank , too expensive for a back up , if necessary id use the Flanger or Phase , but I dont forsee any problems

Well how is this for customer support , I didnt even buy this from the company , as i got used on Ebay , Ok i admit it lol, and it didnt come with a manual, so I emailed them and told them up front i got it on ebay and asked for a user manual , I was willing to pay for it ,well lo and behold whats in my e mail , a users manual , i was impressed , I plan on buying alot of their pedals .

This pedal is expensive , even on E bay i still forked over $250.00 , but you get what you pay for , this unit is slightly more than a year old , but its as good as new its in mint condition ,brand new this pups $315.00 , Im impressed with the Fulltone line , matter of fact im bidding on the ultimate octave as well as a 69 pedal ,

Incredibly easy to use. Includes a manual, but it doesn't really need one, it's pretty cut and dried.

Mainly using a '58 Les Paul Authentic (as well as Fender Custom Shop strat and Tele)into a Boss TU-2 pedal tuner, Budda Wah, the DV-2, Boss Octave (will soon be replaced by Fulltone Octave), Boss DM-3 delay, Ernie Ball Volume to Marshall JCM800 2210.

I haven't noticed an increase in noise aside from the usual Marshall hiss...Haven't encountered playing this effect with another guitarist or keyboardist, but could see how it could get buried in the mix. In my current situation, pedal sounds great. I've owned a Rotovibe, a Univibe and it wasn't until my Phase 90 finally went down that I bit the bullet and bought the DV-2.

I can achieve everything from a nice subtle chorus to a really fast leslie (ala Badge). Hearing guys like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Robin Trower made me want to get a leslie. This is much smaller, more reliable and alot less expensive!!

I've had problems with similar effects in the past, but so far everything is working out great. I have no problem not having to rely on a backup.

Haven't had to deal with the company yet.

This is a perfect match for my style of music. I love playing and listening to Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Gov't Mule, The Stones ('68-'74), Deep Purple, Hendrix and Trower. If it were to get stolen (they would have good taste)I would replace it with another one. As I said, I've compared it to similar effects on the market and though quite a bit more expensive, I still thought it was worth the extra $$. It has inspired me to write more lately.

Self explanitory. The sweep of the LFO is a bit tight. It's hard to adjust the sweep at faster speed.

It's very quiet, and souds OK, but not nearly as good as the price may suggest. I bought a VoodooLab MicroVibe as a backup, and actually like it better. The Deja' is just not bright enough, even at the "modern" setting. The MicroVibe helps my guitar cut through a mix, where the Deja' seems to burry it a bit.

Built very well. Switch is heavy duty, and rocker switches seem firm. The speed pedal is nice and tight.

I have e-mailed them and received a prompt response. I have sent a few pedals in for switch replacement, with a quick turnaround.

The pedal sounds good on it's own, but seems to burry your tone in a mix. There are better UniVibe clones out there. This pedal would work well over bass and drums, but add a rythm guitar or organ, and your gonna get lost in the mix.

The deja2 sounds very nice with this setup. I have never played an original Uni-vibe so I can't comment on the authenticity of the tone but it sounds great regardless. It's very quiet and doesn't mess with my tone when it's on or off. I mostly use the the vintage, and chorus setting to get that nice phase/grind that this pedal does so well. I have actually removed my phase 90 from my setup, since this covers some of the same gound and has the ability to change speed on the fly. I usually find that I crank the "intensity" knob to get a real wet sound, but even then it's not as wet as my phase 90. The taper of the speed treadle could be a little more even, but it still does it's job well.

It really is built like a tank, except for the footswitch. I have an older one with the old style switch with the rubber grommet and plastic cap. Sometimes I have to step on it twice to get it to work and sometimes it cuts out entirely. One of these days I'll just breakdown and order one of the new DPDT that are available. The new pedals come with the new switch so this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

I had to send in my Fat Boost because of a bad pot and it was back within a week. I'm sure if something went wrong they's take care of it. Top notch!

Great pedal, cool sounds, worth the money. I'd get another if I had to. The only thing I'd change is the footswitch and the taper of the treadle.

Very easy. Does exactly what I tell it to do.

Guitars: Gibson Custom Shop Flying V, Guild Starfire 4, Epiphone Coronet, Gibson Firebird Amp: Peavey Classic 50 (2X12). Most of the time the Deja Vibe 2 is my only effect (occasionally use original TS9 Tube Screamer). I have no real need to mimic the sounds of other artists, though my favorite guitarists are Curt Kirkwood, Eddie Van Halen, and Glenn Phillips. The Deja Vibe sounds pretty darn good. No complaints.

I have only had the Deja Vibe 2 about three weeks and I don't have a backup.

I am a full time professional and have been playing 26 years. If it were stolen I would get another one just like it. I have not compared it with other products. But this is definitely a well made excellent sounding piece of gear.
