Simple stuff here...

Sound Quality : 2
This is where it fails. It added a hiss to my signal that was inexcusable. I had the first Fat Boost, which is a better-sounding pedal AND it added no hiss. This pedal was much harsher sounding than the original. Obviously, this pedal was a stinker, considering how quickly Fulltone whipped up the Fat Boost 3. Stay away from this...it's best application is a paperweight by a breezy window.

I'm sure it's built to last, but I didn't give it time to test that out.

I've heard more bad than good in regard to repair situations with Fulltone. For the price paid, there should be an easy solution to alleviate issues pertaining to faulty switches, jacks, or LED's for pedals under warranty. I've heard they're getting better in this area, but there's still room for improvement for this company.

Overall Rating : 1
Stay away--this pedal was a fast failure. I knew something was wrong with this from the moment I plugged it in. Funny how quickly they ditched this and moved onto the FB-3.

I wanted to add to my previous review of this product (submitted 6/25 by bp), after reading some of the other reviews. I love this pedal, for all the reasons listed in my previous post. However, I play primarily dual-humbucker guitars (Gibson LP Custom and ES-335), and with these - especially in the bridge or center position, the pedal sounds incredible. However I have found that playing my Strat thought the pedal doesn't get the same vibe. I noticed that other reviewed have had similar disappointment with single-coil guitars. Thus, I would highly recommend this pedal for humbuckers, and not so much for single-coils. Hope that helps!

Treble and Bass pots are great, though the offer so many shades of difference that it will take a little working with to figure out the right setting for you.

Sound Quality : 10
This is not a high-gain pedal. That said, it does have a great range of dirt - from a simple boost with a little edge when trying to keep it clean, to a full-on crunch. I use it for solos when playing clean rhythm, and for a dirty sound when playing soul or blues. Best part about this pedal: the sound is NOT compressed, unlike high-gain or distortion pedals. It plays great for blues and rock (and even for a jazz solo with some attack), but not a metal player's pedal.

Reliability : 10
Bought it 10 months ago, gig with it twice per month. Haven't had a problem with it. I power it with a daisy-chain adaptor by BOSS, in line with a few other pedals, and occasionally the adaptor plug slips out of the pedal. One potential design flaw is the location of the adaptor input, which is adjacent to and below the output jack. Most other pedals have their power jack in the back, so running this pedal in line with others makes using a daisy chain a little bit of a spatial challenge. But it's worth it.

Haven't needed them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a great pedal. Again, as mentioned, it's versatile in the range between clean boost and really dirty blues. Great if you're playing jazz and need a solo boost with some attack, or if you're into that Keith Richards, Marc Ford (Black Crowes) sound.

this is the version ( red ) with the pre-clipping bass control - sets it apart from the original because it is more useful with a neck PU now
( I agree ) Lots of ability to control effect - besides total and drive it has bass and treble control. Easy to use.

Sound Quality : 7
I have been really pleased with my tele for years since I learned the magic of low output ( < 10 watts ) EL84 amps in small - medium rooms. My number of pedals dropped from 9-10 to 3 because of this ( you get power tube saturation because you can run it at high volume and stompboxes become silly unless carefully picked. tele >>> boost >>> expandora ( old Japanese version ) >>> analog delay >>> British version of Gibson GA 15RV with a greenback in triode mode ( 7.5 watts ) my bridge PU makes me smile with this set up. SOMETIMES I miss P90 midrange bark ( bark-quack ?? ) ( you know what I mean if you know P90s ) but I don't like to change guitars during the night so I looked for the right mid boost pedal to do this. The FB-2 gives good volume increase with a little sort of tweed like hair on it but it didn't give me what I wanted. ( I know this is subjective so rating it is kind-of difficult ) if you want just a volume increase you might like this pedal.

Reliability : 10
obvious top notch quality pedal.

I don't know about this.

I have played 40 years , owned too many guitars , amps and pedals - now have settled down to simple set up ( for me , anyway! ) - past 10 years in cover band - playing all the goofy campy stuff that people like to dance to - R+B, funk, pop-rock, etc - I know nothing about recording, plugging into computers, firewires, ho-humbuckers, etc. What I DO know about is single coils, EL84 amps in small dives, bars and clubs. This pedal didn't do it for me - also tried the FB-3 - no real difference here either - after trying many ( this one, AC, RC, Keeley, many TS types, etc ) the one that really does the magic is that little Seymour Duncan PU booster - I add this to my tele bridge maybe 10 songs a night - really nice midrange bark ( quack ) for funk songs etc - no need to carry a P90 guitar. The FB-2 is well respected obviously - I got a reasonable amount of my purchase price back on ebay.

A little more in depth than your standard clean boost, but thats one of the things that makes it so useable. I recommend spending a few days with this before doing anything important with it. I guess that should apply to anything though!

Sound Quality : 9
This is my first fulltone, and after 2 weeks, I'm already a fan. This pedal does just what it says it will. I must say that it was a bit dirtier than I had originally hoped at low amp volumes. But the louder the amp gets, the cleaner the pedal seemed to want to stay. A nice full transparent boost that adds a little grit with the drive knob, and with harder picking. I think it would be much cleaner at 18v, which I haven't tried yet. I will probably give that a shot eventually, but I really dig it as is.

Reliability : 9
It feels as reliable as a mother in law's disapproval

I have my doubts as they aren't exactly "Boutique" any more. I bought mine second hand, and have a feeling that I'd be up a creek. I don't think it'll break however.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I play open tuning blues, and I love the little glimmer this gives my tone. With the drive up, it gets dirtier than you might think. I bought it before I had tried many other clean boosts, but I have no regrets.

It doesn't get easier than this.Just set the amount of volume you need and set treble and bass to taste.

Sound Quality : 10
This fat boost does what it was design to do.If you use distortion pedals and put the FB last in chain to boost your distorted sound you will be amazed. It does fatten single note lines. However for clean its a little different. You will have to mess with treble and bass to get the desired clean your looking for. For clean I believe the xotic RC booster is the way to go.I play strats and les pauls through the twin reverb and mesa boogies.Even though distortion is pretty loud, when you play live you will need the boost.Trust me I have played countless live gigs for many artists. You think you have enough power but you really dont. Not being heard is ugly. You will like the tone.Just remember that the tone and sound you get is in your hands. That is rule #1. Rule #2 is remember rule #1.It doesn't matter what gear you have,if you cant play you have no tone.I have met many guitar players that can play and they all agree.

Reliability : 10
I own two of them. I also own the RC booster. I would have to say it is as reliable as any other pedal. Anything is subject to malfunction.I would use it without a backup.

I play all styles of music. Lots of rock, jazz, funk, blues and even salsa. I have done many recordings. I have been playing for 39 years. If it were stolen I would buy it again.I have tried all the booster pedals and I think the Fat boost2 and RC booster are hard to beat.I love the idea of booster pedals having treble and bass controls. Some people bad mouth pedals without understanding what the pedal is designed to do.If your distortion sounds thin and weak then check out the Fat boost 2.

Easy. The manual provides settings which are useful as starting points for experimentation.

Sound Quality : 10
Superb sound quality. This pedal can be used as a clean boost or as an overdrive pedal. I use it for a boost in volume when I find myself buried in the mix and for solos. Since I'm boosting a distortion or fuzz sound, the bass and treble controls are essential. Without attenuating the bass all the way and the treble about half way, the boost muddies up my sound considerably. Having those EQ controls (which are very responsive and effect output) allows the boost to be quite transparent, even when booting a distorted signal. This is something that the first Fat Boost couldn't do. I owned the first one and sold it to buy this one. The First one had high end roll off but no bass control. When boosting a clean signal it sounded fantastic, but fell short on boosting a distorted signal (it was always too muddy).

When I say the boost is transparent, I mean transparent enough. It does add some more gain and makes the sound more robust in addition to louder. But the (slight) sound coloration is quite pleasing. It does sound "Fat". I think it sounds so freaking awesome, that I'm sometimes tempted to just leave it on and not use it as a boost, but as an "always on" tone enhancer. That defeats the purpose of having a boost though. I suppose I could buy another one when I'm feeling rich.

I considered getting a Keely Java Boost, but it's twice the price of the Fulltone.

Reliability : 10
Fulltone pedals are built to last. Heavy duty construction. Beautiful workmanship.

No experience.

Apart from the temptation to leave it on all the time and then not have a boost available, I love everything about this pedal.

Considering that most of the other boutique boosters are twice the price, this is an awesome value at $134.

A very easy pedal to use. Knobs are clearly labeled and do what they say. Manual is nice, has a few sample settings which I recommend using.

Sound Quality : 9
It's a great pedal! It's a clean boost, but not entirely transparent. But that's not bad! It's a FAT BOOST, literally! It sounds great, really and truly does fatten up your tone with the drive knob (doesn't really get overdrivey until about 2 o'clock). The fat boost 2 has 2 passive control knobs for the treble and bass, and they are a good addition. If you turn up the drive knob, it gets really noisy, so that knocks it down a point. Works very well with my set up.

Reliability : 10
It's fulltone. Better than boss in terms of reliability in my opinion. Heavy duty footswitch, all metal casing, it's great.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them yet.

Overall Rating : 9
It's great! Get it! I use it for crescendos, not solos, and it works very well for both. Versatile and very controllable boost. It's more of a boost than a light OD though, but it does that too.
