Fulltone OCD

Volume, drive, tone and hp/lp filter switch. Dead easy to dial in a lovely sound. TOne control particularly nice - seems to work on the upper frequencies only, leaving the middle n bass intact.

I just want to gush about this pedal. It nails the classic marshall overdrive sound. Full and rich. Lovely dynamics, it has an elastic feel to it. Never played any od pedal that sounds and feels like this on. Gorgeous for thick rock chords n leads.

This pedal fills the missing slot in my distortion / od options.

Jeff beck strat, AS strat with dg20 emg electrics, AS tele.

mxr stereo chorus, mxr flanger, boss ns2, boss tu2, boss ge7, analogman comprossor, fulltone dejavibe II, BOss pw10 wah, boss giga delay, EHX holy grail, fulltone fulldrive II mos fet edition, OCD, Pete Cornish ss2/P2 duplex all into a british made HIWATT custom 20 head (new one - awesome worth every penny) and a UK HIWATT 2x12 cab loaded with celestions.

I use the fulldrive only for clean boosts - it gives me 2 lovely chimey rich boost levels on tap, the ss2 for a more brittle crunch / lead sound, the P2 for that gilmour big muff sound, and the OCD for that thick saturated marshall overdrive sound.

The pedal sounds great with all 3 guitars - it loves single coils and
its particularly good for thick tele riffing. Feeds back in a very musical way. And all the strat/marshall type heavy sounds with tye srats. The EMG loaded strat sings anyway and it also loves this pedal. The closest Trower sound I've yet achieved - jeff beck strat, ocd, comprossor, and mini dejavibe.

I've tried just about every OD pedal out there... the OCD is the one for me. LOads of bass middle and treble. NOt just a middle boost. Completey different beast to a tubescreamer... which is great for a mid emphasised sound.

Im submitting this to maybe help someone out cause when I bought this pedal it went right back. I always have a pedal infront of whatever amp im playing when it comes to overdrive. I have the gain up at 50% on the amp and a little on a pedal for a 3D sound. The controls on this thing are very, very sensitive. every thing was up only about 25% no more.

I have a maxon od808 which is just bitchin but I use it for the metal stuff cause its so aggressive. It has a tone of midrange which works perfect for aggressive metal so I was looking for somethin of the opposite for mellower stuff-something with flat mids. Tryed this pedal cause of the reviews it got and it completely did not work. I mean when you use this thing in the CLEAN CHANNEL its sound is prestine-perfect. Total vox/marshall - completely british. As british as it gets. Mean growl and shit loads of attack - my first thought was Sublime! When I used it on the dirty channel it just came apart. Mushed-out, attack was gone. I am very conservative with the gain especially at high volumes. I turn the gain all the way down on the amp and pedal - didnt work.

Im not going to bash this pedal because it sounds good for what its supposed to do I think. If I was getting OLD and grew up from the classic rock era It would prolly work....But i didnt. I see this pedal as acting as extra dirty channel to a fender type amp. It sounds so rolling stones/zepplin like. But if you already have a marshall....well?

Use the OCD live twice in club gig situations, sort of on the fly. I was able to make it work well enough to use it the second time out. This pedal is a little decieving when you set it up. It takes a little tweaking to find the right settings. Give it some time, and you will be rewarded.

I am a professional player, and have played for about 37 years. I have a box full of pedals just like most of us do. This pedal is unique, and I felt in certain situations very good. I play through two Mesa amps. I play a Mark 4 for bigger gigs, and an F-30 for clubs. I don't use any pedals for OD on the Mark 4, but like to gain stack on the F-30. The OCD through the front end with the drive channel on gives a sweet push to the amp. Once I turned the OCD volume down and pulled out some of the compression the pedal came alive. If you set this pedal to high in volume or gain the character of your tone flattens out. I was able to make it work with tweaking.

Fulltone makes good products. I have four Fulltone pedals, and have never had any problems.

Mike is a busy man, but has helped me in the past.

Keep in mind that most of us are used to a Tube Screamer sound or similar. I don't think Mike was going for another TS here which is good. Guys that say they bought it and returned it the same day did not give this pedal a fair shot. One of the best things this pedal does is give you ghost notes that are very cool. I let a friend try the OCD with his Mesa F-50 and he did not want to give me the pedal back. For you gear heads out there, you should give Homebrew electronics a look. The (Homebrew Electronics .com) Power Screamer is one of the finest pedals I have ever used and well worth looking at. At this time I am having fun switching between the Power Screamer and the OCD. If lost or stolen I would most likely buy another. Just an FYI I use Tom Anderson guitars, Mesa Boogie amps, Fulltone effects along with Homebrew effects, Dunlop wah. The wah and OD's are run through the front end, and the delays and chorus are through the loop. I really try to stay away from to many effects but cause of tone coloration. Like every other strat freak I mostly use the clean sound ( especially out of phase ) - the combination of this with the swirl of the bassman 4 10s gets it for me. I searched for ever for the right overdrive to use with the bridge PU on some stuff. I play only the strat ( that's why I always pay attention to Fulltone products ) in a fairly active pop-funk-R+B-rockabilly cover band. I am mostly interested in live sound tone at medium-high volume - recording tone is not my thing ( there should be separate reviews here for recording vs live sound ) I really enjoy the bridge PU with the right overdrive for rock songs. The OCD has a wonderful rich sound at noodling around volume - all the harmonics are there - just as advertised. But like most OD pedals when the amp volume is up ( in a bar/club ) it loses definition and punch. In all fairness the same is true for most OD pedals - I have tried about 10 of them over the years - Keeley mod TS10 and TS 9, Maxon 820,Budda Phatman etc.

I really enjoyed the OCD when I gigged with it with a 2 amp set - up ( I use the bypass out on my floor tuner to a second amp to add in a clean sound ) - this REALLY makes a nice OD sound at bar-room volume but you have to drag a second amp around ( no thanks - I am too old and gig 2-3 times per month )

Probably if I was into recording or just low volume stuff the OCD would be perfect. This pedal brings on a smile at low volume.

have played 35 years - past 10 yrs in a cover pop-rock band mostly.
I don't use the OCD at gigs because I don't want to drag around a second amp. I use my sparkle drive pedal - great drive tone and it has the pretty cool thing where you can dial back in a clean sound to overlay on top of the drive - you get all the punch back. I won't sell my OCD though - I still like it - it's just no match for my sparkle drive at high volume with a one amp set up.

This pedal coundlt be easier to use. There are plenty of options for those who like to tweek, but I cant find a bad sound in this pedal actually.The manual explains the functions on the switch, and the knobs clearly.

Playin this through an Marshall 18watt clone amp head I built myself,,,with the help of 18watt.com. This amp kicks ass on its own, but at lower practice volume the OCD really helps open the amp up, and really makes it grind, if thats what you want it to do. Ive owned so many high end overdrives/distortion pedals I wont even go into naming them. I will however say for the record that this is the best ive played so far. The amazing thing is the pedal actually feels like part of the amp because it is so responsive to picking nuances, and dynamics. Its actually quite amazing in this respect. Ive never played a pedal this dynamic. You could leave this thing on all the time, and just control the tones you need with the volume know on your guitar. This is the way the real men used to do it in the old days you know????? LOL. This pedal has a bite to it in HP mode that just seems perfect to me. I hate high end harshness, and this pedal does have the high end, but its not harsh. Its just right. I must say, that I dont play in a band any longer,so I cant audition the pedal in a band setting. I know from experience that things change when you start mixing in the frequencies from the other instruments, but I feel confident that this pedal would deliver in spades.

Fulltone stuff is pretty bulletproof. I have a Choralflange, a 70's, and Clyde wha....never had a problem. Nuff said

ok, let me begin by saying i have had this pedal since september, and bought it off eBay for about $145. i have already written a review about it, which you can read lower.

i had this mod done because i got antsy because i wasn't playing anywhere. i plugged it in and realized that some people's accusation of "no-mids" was quite valid. even thought i loved the pedal, no matter how i tweaked it, i could not get any mids, making higher gain settings unusable. so, i shipped it to don butler with $20. three weeks later (he had vacation right smack dab in the middle of my wait), i got it back. ok, now on to the review:


very easy to use. much easier than before actually. with the mod, i found i don't have to tweak as much to get great sounds.

oh my gawd. i loved this pedal before. i can't turn it off now. it sounds so good. it sounds like it did before, only with a few more mids. the mod makes higher gain settings not onl useable, but really really good. with the gain maxed, it's the best distortion i've ever played. tone knob is very usable.

i found that i still ran it with the gain around 9 o'clock and the tone around 10:30-11:00, but the volume is now cranked to almost noon. sounds great.

awesome. if you have a lower serial number i highly recommend this mod. even if you love your pedal, still do it! it sounds the same, but better!

now, as a note, this mod has now been made permenent on new the production of these OCD's. Mod was made permenent after serial number 4563.

With 3 knobs and 1 switch I would say this pedal is pretty simple to use! I don't like sitting around for half a day trying to get a good tone out of a pedal.

I like to do research of pedals before I buy them and see what everyone else thinks. I'm glad I didn't listen to the people trashing this pedal! I absolutely love this thing. If you love the sound of your guitars clean tone & want to add a slight bluesy or 'Marshall' sound to it, then this is your pedal. I run this pedal through a Marshall JTM 30. The distortion on the amp isn't bad, but this pedal is a better version of it. I've gone through many distortion pedals and I absolutely love this one. The only thing I don't like is how much gain it can get. I guess I will invest in a Fulltone Distortion Pro to get a more heavy drive. This pedal will do great for Nirvana. Extreme solo gain is pretty much out of the question unless you use it as a boost pedal.

I really don't see using a backup. This thing is made solid. Reliability shouldn't be an issue with the Fulltone line.

Mike is a pretty good guy. He knows his tone thats for sure! Just remember these pedals are hand built/signed/packaged, sometimes email's just have a wait a little bit.

You will probably find yourself changing the settings quite often, so there is a need to pick up two of these along the way. I would definately recommend this pedal to anyone no matter your setup. I would recommend this pedal to almost all music styles except metal. If this pedal were stolen, I would shed 1 tear and work my ass off to buy another one. I do not like the fact that Fulltone products are so high priced though. I guess it's like a status thing though, Fulltone(BMW) vs MXR(Honda).

there is a level, drive plus tone..
also, a mid-bass switch which is pretty useful depending on the type of music you play.

if i could control the mid-bass switch with my foot..i would put a 9 in this category..

i wish someone would figure out a way to leave your pedals plugged without sucking the juice out of the battery. i dislike Adaptors,..
you have to unscrew 4 screws to change the battery, which has a tight fit..but since i unplug the pedal after i play, the battery lasts a long time..

i waited a month before this review..i had borrowed one from a friend and i thought it was great but i didn't have the time to really get into it.
Now, i can honestly say that my search is over..this is the HOLY GRAIL of overdrives for me. i have had lots of drives (mxr+, boss, Marshall, Tubescreamers, DOD's, ect..).
I have had, in the past, no problem getting a good tone out of a Humbucking equipped guitar. But for a strat, i never found that one that made me happy except for when i cranked my amps..

well..this one does it.. I would like to congratulate Mike Fuller on this one.. Yes, the FUlldrive 2 is great..but to me, this OCD is the best ever..
the tones i get from this one are very similar to Ritchie blackmore.. and lots and lots of Marshall users out there.. the cool thing is that i can get that Stones tone with it too.. very close to a Vox amp/older ampeg..surprising..
everytime i play with it, i have a hard time putting the guitar down..that this hadn't happened in a long time before buying this unit. it's worth every dime...

i am not saying you can't get a great tone if you have a solid state amp with this pedal..i'm saying that if you can't, dont' blame the pedal . this pedal has harmonics/overdrives like tubes up the ying yang..it's the closest thing i have ever heard to overdriven tubes ..
a good guitar helps a lot..and EXPERIENCE in dialing your tone too!!

The manual is helpful (specially for the tone knob suggestions and the use of the switch), but anyone wouldn't spend more than 1 minut to understand the pedal

Much like the comments submitted by Fenderbender at 04/12/2006 20:55... I have a Fulltone Full-Drive 2 wich I thought was THE overdrive... 'till I've got the OCD!
To understand my oppinion... I play old Fender Strats (single coils) through Marshall amps (reissue 50w and 100w Plexis) and Marshall cabs (25 and 75w 4x12's).
On the floor, I only have a Korg DT-10 tuner and a Fulltone Fat-Boost, for thar extra volume for solos. The OCD is between them (I retired the Full Drive 2).
The OCD is very transparent and keeps the amp EQ with the bass, mid and treble (wich you can roll off with the tone knob, but keeping bass and mids to get a more "rounded" sound - that's the best feature I've found on this pedal, common tone knobs change the hole EQ).
The mini switch is also nice and I use on LP (Low Peak) position for keeping the bass (remember, I play exclusively with single coils).
To me (and my rig) the Full Drive 2 should have the same amont of bass on Vintage and Modern switch positions, like the OCD provides (better say "mantains" when listening the guitar direct to the amp).
The only other pedal I really like are old MXR Distortion+ (mid 70's)but they don't respond like tube amps (like the OCD and Full-Drive 2) and aren't quiet.
Although I keep the OCD on all the time (I only use 9v batteries to assure everything quiet - I play loud, very loud! yes! I play Rock'n Roll!), I enjoy the True Bypass, so I can be sure I'm not messing with the guitar-on-amp sound when using pedals.

I'm using Fulltone for a while and had no problems, so I suppose the OCD is reliable as me Full Drive 2 and Fat Boost.
The OCD is my main sound... so I would by another if stolen.

I feel comfortable onstage not thinking about equipment and the OCD helps me play more and more.

IT doesn't get any easier than this. 1 Volume, 1 gain, 1 tone and a switch to change character of the pedal.

It's simple to use.

This pedal is ridiculous. I first came to Fulldrive via an FDII. Which I thought was my desert island pedal. I heard a lot of hype about the OCD....and though I love my FDII....I was insanely skeptical that another pedal could beat it.

Holy crap. This pedal kills. It's soooooooo musical what you can do with it. a HUGE pallette of sounds are available to you.

I play this with a variety of guitars through a variety of amps. Single coils and humbuckers....doesn't matter. Sounds delicious. Which to me is a rare find. There are a lot of pedals that only play nice with certain rigs. For example my FDII is made for single coils and kinda sucks with humbuckers. Recent amps I have used it on were a Sovtek 60, a Classic 50, and a Hot Rod Deville 4x10.

IF you crank the volume and turn down the gain....it's a very full clean boost. Back off the volume and start to crank the gain you can make it to chugga chugga land.

I do not run a lot of effects because I like things to be simple. I have a Bad horsey II Wah-->FDII-->OCD and then run a CE-5 and a holy Grail into an effect loop. That's it.....it's all I need....still tryign to find a delay I like! hehehe

With a Strat I was able to cop a lot of tones.....even sound like I was playing a LEs Paul....yeah it's THAT fat of a sound if you dial it in.

This pedal just kills. It's one of those rare thigns that simply must have. Dead quite also. No noise. I love true bypass.

I love all my Fulltone stuff and it's never let me down. I would gig without a back up. I am a big fella and if anyone could kill a pedal it would be me.

never had to deal wtih these guys but they seem like stand up people. I have yet to meet a person that owns FUlltone stuff that isn't satisfied but I have never met one that had on issue. And I know a lot of people that use their stuff.

I play all over the place. I do about everything you can do on guitar so I need a versatile rig. This fits right in with what I need.

Been playing for 15 years. And have gone through about everyhting you can go through. IF I don't like it I don't buy it and if I get tired of it I sell it fast. This stuff is a keeper. I will be buried with my Fulltone stuff.

If it were stolen I would track down the bastard that stole it and beat him to death. IF I were dumb enough to lose one I beat the crap out of myself.

I hate that I don't own 3 of them. Then I could just set each one up and have the 3 main sounds I need.

Fav feature is the little swithc that changes the voicing of the pedal. I can't make up my mind which setting I like best. I can make a good arguement for both. Radically different and totally usable. It's like tryign to pick which one of my kids I like the most....you can't do that!!

It is by far and away the most wicked distortion pedal on the planet. I sold 5 distortion units I had for this sound and that sound becaues this little box does everything those boxes did and it does it 1000 times better.

If I could wish it had something else....I wish it were built like a FDII which to me is like 6 pedals in one. IF the OCD were like a 2 or 3 in one.....it would be perfect and you'd never need another distortion unit of any kind.

It totally inspires me to play better and be creative. I get the sound I want right now and don't have to fiddle fart around getting usable awesome tone. No twiddling knobs....I just get to play.

You CANNOT make this pedal sound bad. I would pay 5 times the price for it and feel justified.

This pedal is easy to use, in a sense (only a few knobs) but it can be surprisingly touchy (which is good) so getting just the right sound is not brain-dead easy. What's good about this pedal is that you can tease out a lot of subtle differences and textures. It's very versitile. On the down side, at certain shows and in certain rooms it can sound very different. There have been gigs where I couldn't use it and others where it sounded great.

The sound quality is realistically not as great as the hype that surrounds this much anticipated offering from Fulltone. Essentially it's a sassy tube screamer. It has a nice boutique flavor, and feels a little supped up compared with an 808. The pedal can go from cleanish smooth over drive to big chunk distortion. Lots of variation. On the plus side it sometimes sounds really great. On the down side the out put always sounds a little compressed or squished. Additionally, and my least favorite aspect, is that the highs sound brittle and masticated through the OCD. I play a Custom built tele with Custom Shop nocaster pickups (through fender tube amps). Usually this guitar sounds sweet as heck, but the OCD tends to crappify my highs making leads with this thing often disapointing. It sounds better with the neck pup, but crappy with the bridge. As a result, I use it mainly for chunky rythym stuff. If you compare this pedal to the FullDrive II, the FDII has much more head room and clarity. The OCD has a tendency to flatten the sound, where the FDII lifts it up. On the other hand, the FDII (in noncompressed mode) has very little OD character, while the OCD is chocked full of grindy, distorted charm. In short, it sounds very good, but can't do everything. But that's ok. I find that I get the best results by running my FDII before the OCD. One of the bennefits of the OCD is that if you use a clean boost infront of it (like the green channel on the FDII) you can thicken the tone of the OCD and add more bass and life. It's a great combo - those two pedals together - because you can set the OCD fairly tame (I set the drive around 12 O'clock) then use the FDII to get more and then MORE OD from your OCD. The good thing about this is that the OCD contols the overall volume, while the boost on the FDII presents a big and sometimes not desirable jump. Through the OCD the boost channel simply causes the pedal to become more distorted. It's nice because you can get more and more gain without jumps in volume. Of course, if you wanted a jump in volume this would not work for you at all. The last thing I will say about the OCD is that the tone control is great. It adds a blistering amount of high end. At about 12 O'clock the pedal sounds smooth and 808-ish, but by turing the tone clockwise you can get very aggressive Mesa-like high gain sounds. Very nice, and this feature also allows one to adjust to different rooms. More highs for muddy stages has come in handy many times, where other pedals like an 808 wouldn't have been able to cut through.

So far this baby is perfect. All the fulltone gear I've owned has been flawless. This is the quality stuff.

For the money I am wondering if there isn't something better out there. The pedal has many great aspects - often very nice tone and versitility - but it is not the be all end all overdrive. I have also played some cheaper pedal that I thought sounded equally as good. The tech 21 double drive comes to mind, though the lack of true bypass and general build quality put it in a lower grade. Of course it's half the price almost, so that's to be expected. In the final analysis, I would certainly recommend everyone to try this pedal out. It's not that expensive, and I like it better than many a higher priced pedal. Especially those that have tubes in them etc, which sound harsh to. I would definelty recomment this over a radial tone bone, which sounds limp and boring compared to the OCD. As an addition to one's pedal board it's potentially valuble - but don't buy without a chance to really test it out. It's not for every one, and is very sensitive to different amps and different guitars.

Took Some Tweeking To Find Sweet Spots. Manual Is Included, But Every Rig Is A Little Diffrent, And The Volume/Tone Of Your Amp WILL Have A Big Effect On Where You Set Level And Tone Of OCD.

Doesnt Seem To Like My Music Man HD-130, But LOVES My 70 Superlead and My Fender Pro-JR! H/P-L/P Switch Does EXACTLY What It Is Purported To Do (Tweed/British). Seems To Like Single Coils And Duals Equally..........

A Buddy Turned Me On To His Soul Bender A While Back, And I Knew This Was The Good Stuff On First Look/Listen. VERY VERY Well Built. I Have Back Up Stuff, But The OCD Isnt Replaced That Easy Once You Feel The Love.

I Should Think It Is Excellent Like The Gear. Never Needed.

Why Do People Put This In Front Of A Lousy Sounding Amp And Expect It To Fix Their Tone? Put This Thing In Front Of A Non-Master Tube Amp, Adjust That Amp To A Decent Tone With OCD Turned Off, Then Kick It On.............

I like all the Fulltone stuff I have tried , it sounds very nice but so does the Hao Rumble Mod , its the best for blues in my set up but for heavier stuff check below there are a couple of things more versatile Rod 881 etc , but kicks all ass for blues ...

It`s an overdrive pedal. It has 3 knobs and a switch. There`s no catch.

I play it through 54` RI MIJ Fender Strat, 80` Greco Les Paul Standard, Vintage ES-335 copy, 78` Fender Tele and various teles and hollowbodies more. The amps I use are 69` Fender Bassman head(blackfaced) through a Peavey Classic 4x10 cab fitted with Reverend speakers, 74` Fender Vibrolux Reverb(blackfaced). For bluesy sounds it`s best with tele or strat. I have used the OCD for boosting the sound a bit and it works well. I also like it when the drive is turned about twelve o`clock. I don`t need more for blues. The thing that I really like about this pedal is that it doesn`t cut the low frequencies. It boosts them while not making the low end muddy. Really useful quality. I like the fact that this pedal has it`s own face. It has much use but it doesn`t exchange the TS9. It`s just another cool overdrive and fits from blues to hard rock. Les Paul works as good for heavier sounds. The only thing I don`t like about this pedal or many other fulltone OD pedals is that it does something to the higher frequencies. I can`t describe it but maybe that`s how the class A amps sound? It`s a good pedal but not the end of the world. If I had to choose from buying a TS9 or OCD then I would go for the TS9. TS9 has more use.

I play blues and rock. It does them both good. I have been playing for 8 years. I have Ibanez TS9, Crybaby wah, Boss DD-3, Roger Mayer Classic Fuzz(My best buy) and Pro co rat. If it got stolen I wouldn`t buy it again. It`s a good pedal but it`s not so much for my taste.

This pedal is fairly simple-3 knobs and an HP/LP switch. With the switch in the up position, your tone will be thicker, and thinner in the down position.

The OCD sounds very good. The best? I don't really think so, but it is very good. My setup is simple. I use either a Gibson SG or a custom made Tele/Esquire type guitar into a wah (Teese or vintage Thomas), overdrive (OCD, Fulldrive, TS808, Digitech Bad Monkey, TS-9---you name it, I've had it), and clean boost (Zinky Master Blaster).
My amps are a modified '76 Marshall 1987 head in to an Orange cabinet, or a '65 Fender Bassman head and cab.

As compared to other overdrive pedals, the OCD has more of a tone all
to itself. It doesn't sound like anything else on the market. For example, you can find pedals that come close to an original Ts808 or TS9, but nothing really sounds like the OCD. I can't really say that
the OCD is transparent at all, but the sound is good through my rigs.
I use it in front of the Marshall to kick it into higher gain for solos, or in front of the Bassman for grit. It works equally well in these settings.

Fulltone makes extremely reliable pedals. I would use it with no hesitation without a backup.

I've dealt with them on the phone and through email, and they are always as nice and helpful as they can be. I've heard horror stories, but my rating is based on my personal dealings with them.

I play rock and country, and this has an application for all of my styles. Mine was lost and I need to replace it. I've owned all sorts of cool stuff, but this is extremely good, and cleans up better than other od's when the guitar volume is rolled down.

Simple to use. Even the knobs are labeled. Just remember, the knobs go on top!

Over-rated! Emperors new clothes! I've run this alongside my treasured Keeley Boss BD2 Phat pedal, #65 cheaper than OCD, especially here in the UK. (Why are Fulltone pedals so expensive here in the UK? Thank the Lord for eBay.com!). Anyway, try playing the OCD through the same guitar and amp at the same settings (and others) as the Keeley BD2, and you'll hear you amp through cling-film! But of course, it's all down to personal taste! So, don't take my word for it, buy my OCD on eBay and hear the difference for your self!

I won't have it long enough to find out! I'll sell it on eBay and get another Keeley BD2 to run alongside my original Keeley BD2 at different settings!

I have been playing for 15 years and I have never came across a Overdrive pedal that is so much like an "amp in a box" as this one.
I have used and owned many OD pedals, and this is the one that kicks their ass into tonal submission. The sound is very inspiring, and can get you a very clean bluesy sound to very hard edged Marshall sound at the turn of a knob. I liked it so much, I ended up buying another one a week later. Now I have two and am thinking of a third.
That is something I have never done before.

The only pedals I have that are Non fulltone are the Visual sound H20 for chorus and delay, and a Boss Tuner.
These all go into a Fender 65 Twin Reverb, and Hot Rod Deluxe stereo with a Art Coolswitch A/B/Y. Awesome sound!!!!! Hendrix heaven.

I have nothing to do with Fulltone. I am just a huge fan of their stuff. I wanted to wait until I have been using the OCD for a while before, I reviewed it. It sounds like a Tweed on the LP position and a Marshall on the HP position. Ok, I think you get the idea I like this pedal. Now buy one and enjoy!

Just plug it in and rock. You can't find a bad sound on this thing. Turn your amp up to that sweet spot, then use it to drive your amp hard when you want more or use it to get sweet creamy over drive or all out smooth distortion at bed room levels. Get it and you will never look back. In fact you will never look at another overdrive/distortion pedal again.

And it don't get any better than that boy's & girl's. I record and gig with this. When you step on the switch you only hear sweet overdrive through the amp. If it made noise I would have sold it on eBay. (if you find a used one on there snatch it up) This thing will never leave my pedal board. What sound do you want? It's in there. The pedal works perfect with everything on my board and some that's not on my board that I play around with. I also have fender and Marshall amps and this pedal works the same on all of them SWEEEEEET!!!!

I don't think I'm going to need to get another one,this thing is ROCK SOLID. But I'm going to because I want to make shure I have one of these for a long long long time. IT's THAT GOOD. My sound is now perfect and I thank the OCD for for that.

I have e-mailed Fulltone to ask what was inside before I got the pedal(like I knew what I was looking for) and Mike told me it's a trade secret. He He... After buying the OCD pedal and playing through it I had to e-mail again just to tell Them how much I love it. I got another email and It sounded as if it came from a Good Friend. (Customer Support is not anything you need to worry about).

I'm 41 and I have been play all my life. I have played through and sold or lost more gear then most of you will ever even read about. I play anything and everything that makes me feel good. I could talk all day about this OCD pedal but what do you care??? If you want one just get it and stop thinking about it. It's the best out there. I'm looking at what I just typed here and one would think I knew the guy, I wish I did, because I may not have paid so much for it...It's a great pedal you'll love it. I give this pedal 10 all the way because YES it's that GOOD.

Easy to use as long as you can find a tone you like.

This pedal is loud, bright, relatively uncompressed and rather sterile sounding. I recently did a session with both the OCD and a Fulldrive and the producer and myself both went with the fulldrive track over the one recorded with the OCD. This pedal somehow seems to remove the character of the guitar and amp I'm using.....The guitar straight through the amp always sounded better....more real and natural. Goosed with a little fulldrive 2 this particular amp and guitar sounded warm and wonderful, if a bit compressed.

I'm sure there are better units on the market for this type of tone. We used the fulldrive stacked up with an mxr micro-amp to get the level of gain we needed with much better results than using the OCD.

I'm using various Strats & a Tele with a Mesa Lone Star. This pedal is the best sounding OD I've ever played. It has the tone I've been looking for, for years. I also sometims run a little comp in front of it which sounds great, too. This pedal is very expressive and like the instructions say - it's like lifting the blanket off of your old pedals. Plenty of headromm (30db) & gain. Plus, you can run it from 9-18 volts.

Built like a tank. Great switch.

I bought it used and the warranty is non-transferrable so any way you look at it, I'd have to pay for service. But I don't forsee any problems with this pedal at all.

I've heard that Mike Fuller is a little eccentric & can get cranky sometimes, but let's face it, when you have a successful business like Fulltone, your world turns into a world of people who want things from you. That could make you a little testy at times.

The OCD is a perfect match for the Lone Star. I play Classic rock to new stuff.

simple but complicated. three knobs: volume, tone, drive. one switch: HP/ LP. each knob does what it says, and the switch alternates between a brighter, clearer, "british" type sound (HP), and a darker, muddier, "american" style sound. now doesn't that sound simple?

yeah, well it's not. this pedal is very touchy. each knob has a signficant effect on the total effect on sound. so if you find a sound you like, but think it needs more highs, you can't just turn up the tone. you have to re-tweak the whole thing, and probably reduce the gain a bit. if you like the sound but need more gain, you can't just turn up the drive: you'd probably have to turn down both the tone and volume. then there's the whole deal with the switch, which really makes this two pedals.

this pedal took more "getting used to" than any other single pedal i have ever owned, and i have owned a slew of pedals. weeks of constant tweeking, including live performances, were required before i realized that i could never ever live without this pedal.

ok, here goes my set up: self-built strat copy with: alder body, maple neck, pau ferro fretboard, and lindy fralin "blues special" pickups. i use spectraflex cables and "george l's" cables for all my pedalboard wiring and amp hookup. i run my pedals like this: guitar => self-built A/B box =A> Korg chromatic tuner =B> Fulltone OCD (HP, vol 10, tone 10, drive 11)=> Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive (drive n/a, tone 1:30, clean 5 (max), vol 10, {as a clean boost only}) => Line 6 Echo Park delay set to 1/4 note tap tempo => 1965 Fender Princeton Blackface Amp.

ok, enough about gear. the OCD works very well with other pedals. has great dynamics: your guitar's volume control will greatly effect the sound of the pedal. pedal is transparent and warm. here's the catch: this pedal was not designed to crank up to eleven and rock the house. sure, you could turn the drive all the way up and it sounds pretty good. but this pedal sounds best when used as a mild-medium gain pedal. when used as such, it's awesome. unbeleivable. i seriously can not live without it. if i lost it, or it was stolen, i'd buy a new one. it is not the slightest bit noisy. sounds great with a delay, as well as with a clean boost. great for rhythm, great for lead, great dynamics. buy one.

dude, it's a fulltone. you could probably run it over with a truck.

very good. when i emailed fulltone to ask about the pedal they said that they were having a "no shipping" sale. when the charge went through, they had charged me for shipping. when i contacted them to inquire about it, he appologized immediatly and refunded the difference.

i have been playing for ten years. i play mostly in church where volume control is a constant requirment. our music isn't "church music" though. rock, funk, blues... we have lots of different music. this pedal works great for all of them. i love that since i have now found a great setting, i only have to worry about whether it's on or not. currently, i don't have a high-gain pedal, and that makes me sad. i have previously owned a boss blues driver, ibanez tube king, ibanez ts-7, and two fulltone full-drive 2 overdrives. the fulldrive has a better high-gain setting, but the OCD is much more versatile. those other pedals don't even deserve to be discussed. this pedal makes me better.

The OCD pedal is typical in operation like most od pedals. This one has an attractive all white metal box. Black color Volume, Drive, and Tone knobs. Tue by-pass switch. Side mounted jacks and a 9vdc jack also side mounted. Great for me and my Boss BCB-60 pedal board.
The functions are all very musical and the variences in volume , tone , and drive really change flavor with each turn.
I'm not to crazy about the HP/Lp switch thus far. (I've only used the pedal live for a night gig, as well as two personal studio tracking sessions.) The (LP)switch really compresses the tone. Maybe this will work well for Humbuckers or a high output guitar. I leave mine on HP. This gives me the feel of the pedals power for my Strat w/Duncan vintage rails pick-ups, which are low output. Also , the tone is more present.
Iam rating ease of use an 8. Only because of the hp/lp switchs' function has not been explored enough in a live perfomance.

I gig with a 95' amercian standard Strat w/ duncan vintage rails. I have a coil splitter (push/pull) insatlled on the tone knob.
I also use a Gibson 335 reissue dot. And a Carvin les paul type model guitar which I purchased in 1980. Still looks brand new with high miles on it. I like my Sampson wireless sent to my Boss tu-2 tuner> Bad horsie> exotic RC booster,>OCD!>Boss ds-1(orange $39.one)>BossCh-1(about to be ousted)>anolog man mini Chorus>Boss dd-3 delay.(looking to replace this one too. I want all true BY-PASS.) > Dunlop tremelo pedal.
From here> Peavey Classic 50 4-10. Jap. Fender Stage lead 2-12 series transitor amp which I've had since 1985. This amp really sparkels w/ my Strats 5 positions really nice and clean. But thats about it. I use this amp for small tight stage areas where my tube amp would not be able to "breathe" or, have a beer spilled on it.
The OCD is very transparent through my tube amp. Rich and warm and sparkley too. I bet this pedal would sing with a higher end tube amp! Through my transistor amp , the OCD is more distorted than overdrive. It actually sounds like my ds-1. Used together though, they produce rich overdive with either one as a boost for solos. The O.C.D. also will pick up your approach and attack very accurately.
So in a nut shell in my experince, The OCD is a great addition to your arsenal for covering all decades of Rock n' roll. A great buy for me. I searched endless hours and nights online. So many Overdive pedals out there, So many options. this is a great place to draw the line. After A/B ing this with other models. This OCD won me over in a matter of Seconds, where with the others I painstakinly found myself tweaking controls for useable and flexable tones, only left wondering and thinking to myself, "What is all the hype about over this thing?"

So far so good. As opposed with my other pedals listed in my line up. The OCD stays true to form where my Cheapy Boss pedals shiver in the cold and sweat in the heat. Dig what I'm saying here?
In the studio the OCD gave me my tone without any additional tweaking to the room or enviorment change after a week between sessions. I can't say this about others I've used.
I have already become addicted to this new found tone (OCD)in my signal chain even though I don't have the best "STUFF" on the floor. The real tone comes from guitar/amp combo really, no bones about it.(And your fingers,touch) I only use peadls to make up for my amps sound or lack of. Plus, I perform rock from all Decades and I need Vintage ,Classic and modern tones instantly.
Iwouklld miss this pedal if it was not on the floor truly. I could play without it, I have before but dont want to. For the cost of this device I am not in a position to buy another. If this thing dies or is stolen I quess I am SOL.

Rating: 8. To me, a "9" is the bomb, a "10" would be nirvana. I have not discovered those yet if they even exsist. An 8 is GREAT! :)

I never spoke to anyone from Fulltone before. However I dont know why you cant buy direct from them ? It was a pain in the booty trying to find a local dealer who had one for me to demo.

This pedal is absolutely great. Very clear yet powerful distortion of a kind i had never heard. Really. It sounds very open and if you max the drive it gives you plenty of distortion but without any mud. It cleans up really well too, when you back off the guitar volume.

Amazingly rich and harmonically complex sound. The Soldano sound beyond huge with the Lp and the OCD but never harsh.

Buitl like the prverbial tank, this little can of tone could probably be tossed from atop the tallest building in town and be ready for the gig.

I've dealt with them a few times and they replied fast and were very professional.No qualms.

I've been playing hard rock for over 20 years and the OCD is the best distortion device I've ever heard. Granted, I never tried a great Marshall Plexi but this little baby soudn incredible. I would buy another one if this got stolen.

I've owned Tubescreamers, Marshall Jackhammers, DS-1s, Big Muffs but this beats `em all.

A hint to all players out there: try it with a 18v power supply, it really gives you massive headroom and power.

I am a humbucker/P90 man. I really enjoyed the fact that this pedal has more than one useable setting, you can really get something out of it. It is very transparent when used with low gain and reaches way into mid-to-high-gain territory. I enjoyed using it for a couple of days and even took it to a gig. More and more I found that I did not like the way the overdriven signal decays, not very smooth. A certain harshness throughout. Also when you max the gain the tone bcomes mushy and not very useable.

I enjoyed some of the sounds and the flexibility, but overall found it not organic enough. I gave it back for a refund.

I tried one of these when they first came out and I hated it. I had no idea what all the fuss was about. Then last week, on a whim, I plugged into one again at the local guitar shop. It did not sound at all like the OCD I had tried before. The guy at the store said they changed the gain pot or something, but whatever they did, the difference is night and day.

It's noiseless, and now has a much wider range of gain. Probably the first pedal I've owned that can successfully handle low and high gain sounds. The new OCD has MUCH more available gain than TS-type pedals, and gets a lot more saturated as well. However, it is great for the "just breaking up" sounds as well.

I still haven't decided if i like the HP or LP setting better. LP really is more transparent. When you switch to HP after playing in LP mode, there is a significant volume boost and tonal coloration that initiaaly makes you think it's a coolr tone...either way, both are great sounding.

I am not one of those guys that worships Fulltone products. As a matter of fact, I hate the Fulldrives, I bought and sold a Distortion Pro, and I never understood the hype about the Choralflange. However, the OCD sounds damn good. Within 2 days of buying it, I did something I've never done before -- I went out and bought another one, so I can set up 2 different tones.

It's fairly easy to use, although you have to experiment with the HP/LP switch, which will change not only the sound (high mid or low mid boost) but also the overall volume!

I'm using it with a Marshall 100 SLP and a Hiwatt Dr-103 (both fine british amps with EL-34 power tubes and strong mids).

This distortion pedal is not noise free, but if you keep "Volume" or "Drive" below 12 o'clock you won't have any real problems with hiss.

The pedal sounds very transparent. If you turn "Drive" to zero, the sound is almost the same with pedal on or of!

The overdrive/distortion ist very amp like an I rate it one of the best I've ever heard. In certain areas, I can get almost the same sound with other pedals (e.g. high gain sounds with the Tech21 XXL or low gain sonds with Boss BD-2 (Keeley mod) or Sobbat Drivebreaker), but the OCD is the most flexible of the bunch!

Excellent for crunch rhythm sounds.

For soloing, I would have liked more mids to cut through the mix. This pedal would be perfect, if the mids would get stronger the more you turn up the "Drive" knob.

There's one BIG MINUS: The hard-wired bypass switch makes a loud popping sound through the speakers! It's not just a mechanical noise issue, but a real signal problem. Fuller claims on his web-site he would have solved the problem with loud popping switches, but this is not true! At least not with my pedal (Serial No: 04512).

The sound is very good, but for me there aren't enough mids for soloing. Another minus is the hardware bypass which pops so loud that you can't use it in the studio! So I'll give it 8 points.

I've never had a problem with Fulltone stuff and this one looks very reliable, though the gray glue covering some parts inside looks ugly.

I've dealt with Mike once or twice an alway got a short fast response, he is very busy for sure.

A great pedal, one of the best out there. I think I would buy it again.
With a little tweaking it might become the best distortion pedal on the market.
As this is a rather expensive unit, I think the forementioned issues shoud be solved (not enough mids for high gain stuff and the lousy switch), before it gets a higher overall rating.

Very easy to use - three knobs.

Though this a quality pedal, I found it's brittle top end to be disagreeable with Fender single coils into a Fender twin. I'm sure it would sound great with a Les Paul into Marshall setup where you're not starting with a bright tone to begin with, but it just wasn't working with my twangier rockabilly tone. To my ears, this pedal sounds almost indentical to a Keeley modded Boss Blues Driver, which also has that high-end sizzle. This would be a good pedal for an Allman Brothers/Billy Gibbons Les Paul/Marshall setup, just not single coils into a clean amp IMO. If you play single coils into a brighter amp, I would suggest something a little more Tube Screamerish, which this is not. Tube Screamers and their kind do tend to mellow out the top a bit.

A three knobber. High Peak or Low Peak switch. Easy.

I've been playing a Strat into a loud, clean Music Man 2x12 combo (130HD or 65). This is the best OD/dirt box of any kind I've ever played. I've had it for half a year, played a bunch of shows with it, and I rarely turn it off. It seems like some people don't like this about it, but the OCD has a distinctly rude, trebly bite that I love (yet not at the sacrifice of low end). If you roll down the tone knob it can still get smooth, but I roll it up (3:00 or so) for crazy harmonic content. Still, my favorite thing about the OCD is the touch sensitivity. There is absolutely no hype about it; you pick hard and you get dirt, pick soft and you're clean. It's a beautiful thing. The OCD's usefulness continues to evolve for me all the time, as I'm getting much more mileage out of my Strat's volume knob than I ever did before. You can crank the gain on the OCD and back off the guit vol knob for rhythm, and then just roll it up to 10 when you need to bust out with a lead or melody line. I do much less pedal dancing than I used to. It's a completely useful pedal in every way. With the Music Man amps, which are in the same ball park as a Fender Twin, I found that the Low Peak setting would not cut through the band, but the High Peak is both beautiful and merciless. Last thing- when I slam the OCD with the Barber Tone Press I get unbelievable punch, endless sustain, and thick, harmonic feedback that I can control completely with my Strat's volume knob- my bandmates are awestruck by this great and terrible power. I should not give a 10, but I need nothing more than this.

It is built far better than I am.

Great pedal. I play the rock music, although I hear it's going out of style. I'll try to incorporate the OCD into whatever is the next big thing.

also a rocker switch for high gain / low gain. the rocker switch was the only difference from your standard tube screamer and ds-1 type distortion pedals, but a monkey could figure out what it does in less than a minute.

right now im going back from digital to analog effects, and this is the first pedal i bought on that mission. im sure a train of pedals will follow. but right now, its standing alone.

i play through a fender hot rod deville 212

my main strat has a duncan hotrail single coil in the bridge position.

the pedal (and manufacturer) boast true bypass on all their gear, and i gotta admit, i cant hear a sound difference when plugged directly in, or going through the pedal.

the sound is GREAT. exactly what i was looking for in an overdrive/distortion pedal. and the tone changes shape when played through different pickup positions and doesnt fall through. the HP/LP toggle switch REALLY is like having 2 pedals in one. some songs you dont need your balls out, some you do. really the best sounding pedal ive heard in a while.

so far so good. only had it 3 days. i am DEFINATELY going to use it for gigs--well see how it goes!

i emailed tech support about a question i had (they say you can power it 9v or 18v and it will give you different sound characteristics)

i asked about this and some power adapters and suppliers, and they emailed me back within a few hours. made me feel warm and fuzzy

i love the range of tones i can get out of it. i like the fancy blue LED light, i like the simple but tank-like casing the pedal is in.

this pedal just had what i needed. i know not a lot of stores carry the brand, but if you see it and youre picky about your tone, give it a try!!

Les Pauls, PRS Hollowbody 2+ Dr. Z MAZ 18, SRZ-65, Vox AC 30. IMHO this effect lives up to the hype more than anything I've tried (and I've tried almost EVERYTHING including other Fulltone products like the FD2. ..no complaints there, it's pretty much a classic, but to me, the OCD is the best overdrive/distortion effect available today. The settings I use are as follows: Volume, 9 o'clock, tone +/- 12 noon, drive = 3 o'clock. Maybe it's the amps I'm using, but I've been searching for that perfectly satisfying "just over the top" "Marshall but with sustain" sound. I could not be happier. I would also recommend the Fulltone TTE as the "Holy Grail" of echos.

No Problems-built like a tank. I do gig without a back-up OCD. I have another overdrive, but it wouldn't be the same.

I have dealt with Fulltone on a couple of occasions. They were helpful courteous and had the answers I needed. Some players may feel the urge to "talk shop". With a shop that is obviously as busy as Fulltone, I would suggest taking the conversations to retail outlets.

Been playing 30+ years. Various stlyes. Still a rocker at heart, but soul, R&B and oldies pays better. The OCD is my "fun button" as lead solos take a back seat to the songs (as they should). If lost or stolen, I would replace it immediately. If anyone has a serial # under 100 of this unit at a reasonable price. I am intersted. Please let me know.

What I love is the full blown sound of a Plexi. The OCD Is a perfect match. What do I hate? My old Overdrives.

Well I must say my style is pain fully Loud, but only when you get a chance to open a plexi up with one of these OCD's will you truely know what I am talking about. Completely satisfied. The Clyde wah, and the 69 fuz will definately make it into my rig. Perhaps a Fulldrive-2 as well.

I have to say: I love Mike Fuller's stuff normally. I own two Custom Shop Cream Fulldrive 2's that I will never part with. They are among the most organic, great sounding OD pedals I own.

I was ALL about getting this pedal based on the clips on the Fulltone site. They sound amazing. The Zeppelin alone made me say "wooah" :-)

So I got on the waiting list for TWO OCD's and finally got my pedals a month later. WHAT a letdown.

First off, the reviewer below that says that this pedal doesn't alter your tone MUST have some hearing problems. This box has a huge hole where the midrange is. It is REALLY bright. I had to roll the tone back to zero to not get that exaggerated high end "bite".

If you are a player who wants to set a claen sound in a Fender amp and use this box as a "distortion channel" - well, good luck. It ABSOLUTELY takes over your sound and forces you to re-EQ the amp if you want anything even close to transparent.

If you are using it to goose an already dirty Marshall (like most of the clips) then maybe you'll have better results. But make no mistake, the is a HUGE MIDRANGE SCOOP in this pedal. I'm not talking about a "lack of Tubescreamer-like bump" mind you. I'm talking about a big hole where the body of the guitar sound is. There is a spike in the upper upper mids, and a big hole where the low mids and mid mids are. NOT what I wanted (AT all).

Although this could be good if you were to EQ the amp specifically for the pedal, it makes live use (for me at least) impossible. This is NOTHING like a Fulldrive 2. I can't even believe anyone would compare the two.

I sold both units on eBay and they sold immediately. The hype behind this pedal is unreal and SO overblown. It has since died down.

Mike Fuller makes some of the best pedals ever in history. This is built like a tank, like all of his stuff. It EXUDES quality. The blue LED is real cool.

Never needed it. Good, because I hear Mr. Fuller can be a bit of a trip to deal with. But I also hear he is a stand up guy and will ultimately take care of any problem. So I will not rate this category.

I play funky, americana, jamband, reggae, psychedelic, fusion stuff. Like to have different flavors of overdrive on hand, from Keith to Angus to Jerry to Trey. Unfortunately, this pedal did none of the above.

If you want to get that real Marshall thing happening and don't want the pedal to take over your precious amp, try the new Barber Direct Drive. For my taste TWICE the pedal the OCD is. Just as well made, better sounding, and less expensive.

self explaining. All three buttons work realy sensitive. Very nice.

My chain goes G&L ASAT semi hollow & Fender Telecaster, OCD, Marshall Vibratrem, Fender Pro Junior, custom made 4x12 box.
I set the OCD to HP, volume 10 o'clock, tone 10 - 11 o'clock (that's pretty neutral) and drive to 1 o'clock. My philosophy is, to use as less stuff between guitar and amp as possible and for that the OCD is perfect. What I realy like about this pedal is, that it does not deny the identity of your amp: in the LP mode the pedal will sound like your amp naturaly overdriven. With the switch set to HP, it will emphasize some characteristics of your amp and I think this is the reason for some negative reviews here: if there are some negative aspects in the sound of your amp -be careful! The OCD could make them sound much worse! But if your amp sounds good, this pedal is just perfect. It will put the cream on top. You will get more basses, more hights, more briliance and it will sound much more punchy. Anyway, your Fender will still sound like a Fender and your Marshall like a Marshall. I love to work with the guitar's volume; you can clean up your tone very nicely and the touch sensitivity of the pedal is superb!
All in all; it realy is the best sounding and most musical OD pedal I ever used. Just honest an straight foreward.

I wrote a few emails and always got the informations I asked for within 24 hours -realy helpful. The reason I give them a 8 instead of a 10 is, that here in Europe the support is not as good as in the US. We have to be realy patient sometimes...

With my band I play rock'n'roll in the style of the Rolling Stones or the Georgia Satellites. For Rock and Blues the OCD fits perfectly. For me the pedal couldn't be better.

Like all pedals, ya gotta tweak it to suit your rig. Easy for some, hard for others (this is a very sensitive pedal). Fulltone manuals are always great and this one is no exception.

Various guitars (PRS Maple Top, Grosh VT mostly) into a FT Souldbender, FT OCD, FT ChoralFlange into a Dr. Z Maz 38 Senior (yeah, I know, ALL Fulltone...there's a reason he calls it FULL tone). Not noisy at all. The effect is about as weak as an 8.0 earthquake! Very powerful sonic textures. If you use pedals to color your sound, to mimic other artists tone or to in some way cover up your playing, DO NOT buy this overdrive!! If you can play, like the sound of your style/guitar through your amp and understand the power of dynamics, then this is the best damn OD box you could ever stick in front of your amp! Hands down the most organic OD I've ever used.

It's a Fulltone! Throw it off the 10th floor...it'll still be good to go for your gig.

I've played for 27 years, nobody is going to steal my stuff and YES, it is an inspiring pedal. It fuses with your amp like they were meant to be together...PERFECTION. Throw away your other OD's and grab an OCD. NO CONTEST!

Three knobs and one switch--how much easier can it get?

I have a one-channel amp (Bad Cat Cub) and I was hoping the OCD could give me the option of a boosted sound that emphasized the sound characteristics of the amp. I was disappointed with the harshness of the sound. The harmonic complexity of the amp's sound was diminished with even moderate amounts of boost from the OCD--the sound was "cheaper" with the OCD. I did some A/B comparisons with some less expensive (and less heralded) equipment and I found I could get a more organic sound for a lot less money.

Didn't own it long enough to know.

Never dealt with Fulltone.

I'll admit I was taken in by hype. I heard there was a waiting list for these when they first came out, so I bought it without trying it. After owing it for only a couple of days, I admitted my mistake and returned it for a refund. Fulltone must be doing something right (or many things right) to have their reputation, but the sound of the OCD just wasn't music to my ears.

Three knobs : volume, and he's not kidding, at 9 o'clock I have enough boost, gain and tone. Easy peasy, hard to get a bad sound out of it.

I play it on a Fender Dual Showman Reverb and Pro Reverb, no noise even with the gain dimed. I have the gain on 2'o, volume at 9, tone at 1. The praise about the dynamics and harmonics is justified, I haven't heard anything else like it. Everyone else who heard it agreed it sounded fantastic. The Barber ltd I have is great, but pales next to the OCD. Works great as a boost for it though, like boosting a Marshall stack.
I might try the 500k mod though, it does sound scooped, but there's nothing wrong with the lowend or highend, I just like my mids.
A mid knob would have made this pedal perfect for me. But still, it's by far the best overdrive I've played on (compared to Maxons, Tonebone, Barber, Fulldrive, which all are very good too)

We have a broad style : psych, prog, alt, surf, metal, punk, klezmer all in rockformat, and it fits everything great. For the metal stuff, I push it with a Barber Tone Press and Ltd, with those and the volume knob there's loads of sounds.
The dynamics are unsurpassed, it's very unforgiving, I'll have to do some practicing to get the most out of it. Which is a good thing.
Only thing that could make it better is a way to dial in more mids, I'm not sure how the modding will work with all the alien barf inside of it.
?210 a lot of money for an overdrive pedal? Not for this one.

3 knobs, one 'set it and forget it' switch; very easy to get great sounds; practical and useful tones.

Unit is quiet; true by-pass too.
Useful tones across the board, roll back your volume to clean it up too.

Fulltone products are very dependable, no back-up required in general.

While they are busier than ever due to demand, you can still get thru if need be.
Haven't had to persue repairs yet.

Basic rock and roll player; this thing is just what the doctor ordered, and the harmonics are great.

The manual is pretty clear on describing the pedals functions. but, you don't really need to read it to use this pedal.

I'm running this pedal into a Crate(tube)vintage club 50 with trem and verb, with v30's.my board-OCD-Boss tu-2-boss ge-7(mij)-boss bf-2(mij)-ibanez PH-7 phaser-boss ce-2(mij).
The OCD is really the next best thing to tube distortion,without using a tube based pedal. I didn't want to belive the hype but,this IS THE BEST DRIVE PEDAL i've used ever.
A lot of guy's are using this for more of an overdrive sound, but it has got a really great marshall type distortion in HP mode, very ac/dc on steriods. but, in both modes it gets a lot of different tones. Clean boost-check, just the hint of break-up OD-check, and you can use your guitars volume knob and find a lot of cool in-between shades i've never been able to get from any other distortion pedal.

I've been using it for 2 months solid in my rig and it's worked great,i'd gig without a back-up because these things are expensive and hard to get.

I e-mailed mr. fuller about my OCD having white knobs,and he sent me an e-mail in about 3 min's. it was short and to the point,his workers pick what color knobs at any given time onto these pedals. But I've only seen one white knobed version on the web besides mine. If i ever have a problem with this pedal i think mr. fuller would help me out.

The only bad thing i can say about this pedal is that mine had a small chip in the paint job, shipped new like that. for 170 clams i'd expect this to ship with all the paint intact. the pedal was so new that some of the OCD letters on the top side were almost stuck to the bubble wrap in the box. I guess there turning out a lot of there to try to keep up with demand.
I got this pedal in oct. and it was dated 7-25-05,so it took a while to get to musician's pro here in KY.

This is an easy pedal for me to get a good sound out of. Three knobs and a toggle... How complicated can it be?

This is in my effects chain after some Analog Man compression, a Teese wah, and an Xotic AC Boost. Currently my main guitar is a G&L Comanche, a beast of a single coil superstrat. I run this into a fairly clean Mesa Mark III or Budda Superdrive. The LP setting is more than enough for about any classic rock guitar sound you would need, even with the G&L. The HP adds more gain and volume, but I've seldom used it for what I'm doing.

The reliability hasn't been an issue. I back this up with a Jauernig DGTM and would be able to cope if there was a breakdown. But this isn't a frail pedal by any stretch of the imagination.

Variety music in Rockford Illinois. Playing for 30+ years. If you want Warren in a Box, this is durn close. Stolen or lost? I'd buy another, now that I can see what it can do. This has a very natural amp like response with plenty of available grind... my drive setting is about 11:00 and it gives me plenty. This compares pretty favorably to the DGTM and Direct Drives I own, and can do the old Rat thing as convincingly as any pedal I've encountered as well. A good buy for the price.

Fairly easy to grok pedal. Volume, Drive, and Tone knobs with a switch to change the EQ and drive characteristics of the pedal marked HP/LP. The two page manual describes the two sort of unusual things about the pedal, the Tone know and the HP/LP switch.

I play a strat and a P-90 Les Paul through a Fulltone way, the OCD, a Moog Mooogerfooger delay, and then sometimes a Line6 modulation modeler and/or Line6 delay modeler; all of which feed a Top Hat Club Royale, the sweetest little amp I've ever heard in my life. The Top Hat is not an easy amp to match with a pedal, it's mid-rangey in that classic Vox way and a lot of pedals that sound fabulous with a Fender Deluxe or a Bluesbreaker sound awful with it. For example, Tube Screamers sound just hideous with it. The OCD has two main sonic signatures that are selected with the HP/LP switch. The HP has more of an upper mid peak and sounds rather Voxish on its own through a clean amp (tried it through my bandmates Bassman head). It sounds OK but a little too much like goggles over glasses with the Top Hat. However, the LP switch is really something else *if you already like the sound of your overdriven amp to begin with.* It's just a grittier, louder version of the sound that's already there. It's by *far* the happiest pedal I've ever used in front of my Top Hat. It's also convenient. I played at a gig last weekend where I had to use a house amp (some Fender I'd never heard of), so I just flipped the switch to the HP setting and had a pretty sweet Class A sounding overdrive. It's hard enough to find a pedal that sounds good with the Top Hat, but it's gravy that it even sounds good with other amps. In other words, this is a superb overdrive pedal. Oh, it has tons of clean boost too.

Just a fantastic overdrive pedal. Touch sensitive, wide range of sound possible without losing the main character of the pedal, with the LP setting it can be extremely transparent to keep the guitar/amp combo you have sounding good. I'd bet it would sound pretty great in front of a high quality SS cleam amp as well.

This unit has one toggle and 3 simple-to-use knobs - volume, drive and tone. The volume will really boost your amp volume so you've got to be aware of that before you turn your amp on. The tone is very active and requires some fine tuning.

I had a Fulldrive for a long time and was very satisfied with it but I began to Jones for a little more crunch and so I got this pedal. It sounded great at home at low volumes. I played last night with it for the first time and it just blew my mind. Such creamy overdrive. Really quiet. It is what I had always hoped for in The Menatone Howie, the Blackstone pedal, Klon, Fulldrive, Maxon pedals, etc. I've gone through a slew of them and this just nailed it.

I wouldn't call the guy "warm" but he definitely doesn'ty want anyone to be disappointed in his products.

I've played for 20+ years. I'm now in a Motown band. I play blues/rock/soul. Perfect match for me. I play a '66 Tele and a '63 Strat through this pedal, a Fullrone Supatrem and a tuner into a Matchless SC-30. I would buy another in an instant if stolen.

Very simple to use. Found the perfect setting in about 2 minutes.

I Grosh guitars. My Effects are Keely Compressor, Fulltone Clyde Wah, Barber LTD, 2- Fulltone OCD (2 separate settings), Guyatone Flip Series Tube Delay, Fulltone Choral Flange, Out to 2 - Fulltone Fat boost to 2- Soldano Lucky 13 Combo Amps. The OCD just sweetens the sound perfectly. I use 2 because at lower settings I get great rhythm sounds but when I want to push it over the top the settings on the second OCD give me the all the tone I could ever ask for.

All of Fulltone effects I have bought are built like a tank. I don't even think about them letting me down.

I play and have been playing for 30 + years Soul, Funk, R&B. The OCD is the first pedal that allows me to get a very natural sounding overdrive without having to turn the volume up to unacceptable levels. If they were lost or stolen I would replace them. I replaced a couple of different overdrive pedals ( Barber Direct Drive and Barber Tone Pump) with this pedal because it just sounds better to me. Knowing that I can hit the tone sweet spot at any time is very comforting. This is such a musical pedal I wish I had it a very long time ago.

This is about as straight forward as you can get. Balance drive versus level to get the sound you want, play with the toggle, adjust the tone and you're there. Some pedals require a fair amount of time to just find out if they are right for you. This one is quick.

Pretty quiet. I was looking for a specific kind of overdrive. I use an Xotic RC booster for clean transparent gain and mild overdrive and a Reverend Drivetrain II for more overdrive and a midrange push. The Reverend is possibly the best value I have ever encountered in an overdrive pedal. Amazingly nice for very little money. The OCD gave me something in between - Kind of a Vox AC#30, very dynamic, very open sound. Extremely touch sensitive, and did I mention it is dynamic? I like to use combinations of the pedals for different sounds. The OCD at moderate gain into the Reverend is killer; searing and dynamic and yet with the sustain you associate with fairly heavy compression. I like it.

Have owned it a total of three days. Build quality looks very good and Fulltone has an excellent reputation for reliability. However I can't justify a rating here.

I sent the company an email regarding a Fulldrive 2 and received no response. I have heard good and bad, but again not enough experience to judge someone.

I have too many guitars but the main ones I use with this pedal are a Grosh strat, an Anderson Cobra, Hamer Newport Custom Pro semihollow, and a Hamer Studio, another best buy. Amps are a Savage Rohr 15 and a Peavey Classic 50 run in stereo through a Lexicon MPX-1. Other pedals besides the ones mentioned are Carl Martins Chorus II and their Compressor. For the record, the sequence of the overdrive pedals I am using is significant, at least in my system. I run the OCD into the Reverend into the Xotic RC. I would buy this again. I have about ten overdrive pedals in the closet and these three are my favorites, but it is definitely system and desired sound dependent.

Extremely easy to use. Just 3 knobs and a switch for drive intensity. Volume, drive, tone. If you need help with this, ah, you may want to switch to trombone.

I use the following: Guitars- SuperNova(blue), homemade SRV Style Strat and PRS SE Soapbar II. Amps- Restored + modified (to Blackface)Fender Bassman head, Mojo 2X12 bottom with Celestion G1280H's, and Custom 1x12 Tweed cab with Jensen C12N. George L cables, and various stomp boxes. The sound quality of the OCD is incredibly natural, responsive to attack, and satisfying. Way beyond anything else I have ever tried. It's quiet and it's versatile and fun to use.

So far completely reliable after several months of home use. Built very solid and seems more than adequate for gigging.

I play classic rock-Allmans, Doobies, Clapton, Eagles, Scandal. Been playing about 30 years, amateur, used to be in various bands. I've been through about 5-7 overdrives including TS-9,808, Rocktron, Ibanez, Maxons, Marshall and more. Basically my personal taste and quest, was to find an affordable overdrive that MAINTAINED THE SOUND of each of my guitars and amp setups with the most natural overdrive possible. I was really sick and tired of the coloration that most distortion or overdrive pedals added to my sound. Amazingly, the inexpensive Rocktron Austin Gold was really nice to use however it adds something like 10b volume boost the moment you engage it and that became annoying and hard to control. I had been reading all the reviews at Harmony Central for various distortion pedals and a lot of people seem to compare their pedals to some of the FullTone models. So I did a search on Ebay and stumbled upon this new OCD and read about it in Harmony Central and the mfr's website, and took the plunge. It's a bit pricey but I was sold the moment I started using it. Don't worry about the cash-if you spend it too, you won't regret it. It is the best, most natural overdrive I have ever played. It is so much fun to use, it's ridiculous, and makes you want to play more, which in my opinion, a good instrument is supposed to do. If I had to gripe about anything, I would say that the footswitch is a bit heavy duty and takes a little extra effort to engage. The pedal is extremely reactive to your strokes on the guitar, loud or soft, turned up or down. It's completely quiet and does everything FullTone says it will. It has a neat white outer casing with a blue pilot light when in use. I love this pedal and will never part with it, and the money was well spent. I thank FullTone for making this available to the public and I would definately replace it if something happened to it.

must say thats the sweeetest tone. I can get great strat and les paul tones
all the way across the board.

All of the OCD's that i have seen have black knobs. When i picked up my
special order from Guitar Center my OCD has white knobs how cool is that!
When I put this pedal to work it has this great glowing blue light that lets me
know what I'm in for. A drooling drive that any tube amp guru would love.

VERY easy to use. The standard controls: "Volume", "Drive" and "Tone". If you have even a basic level of experience with drive pedals, you'll be just fine. The "LP" and "HP" switch just has two settings and you'll definitely notice the difference in the sound when you flip it back and forth. I give it a "9" because the "Tone" knob should probably be labeled "High End" as it only affects the high end.

I use a tele with dimarzio, strat pickups, but that's not really important as everyone's setup is different.

No, it is NOT noisy. Even with the drive dimed, the amt. of hiss is almost not noticeable.

The pedal sounds friggin' great. It is very transparent, almost to the point of being odd. It really adds no color or character to your tone, which might take some getting used to as almost ALL drive pedals do. The "LP" (Low peak) setting is really transparent and allows for more of a clean - drive sound, which is great for blues and R&B. The drive is not so aggressive on this setting. The "HP" (High Peak) setting gives you a more aggressive sound, more of an EL34 / British snarl. Not too much, but more upper mids, and the drive has more attack.

Overall, the drive is REALLY touch-sensitive. So, use this drive if you really want to encorporate feeling in your playin. If you want your tone to be dripping with drive and sustain, forget it. What you get is your amp pushed alot harder with the kind of drive and harmonics that you get from turning your amp up. Real natural stuff, no "JCM 900" type of drive at low volumes, seriously, it's not a pedal with a sick amount of drive. But as you turn the drive up, it really cooks your tubes and just sounds great.

BTW, I played this through a Roland JC-120, even that solid-state amp (which I HATE) sounded great with this pedal.

ALSO: This pedal introduces a really present tight bottom end. It's actually amazing how much bottom end you get with this pedal, my jaws sort of dropped. You might have to back off your bass knob, but the bottom end is tight and it's awsome for leads as I've never had such bottom end when playing cleaner leads. GREAT STUFF, WELL DONE!

I've been playing for 27 years, This is one of the good ones. Definitely worth a try. Not for Metal or anything too heavy, but for rock and roll to hard rock, it sounds great. I am very impressed. A fun pedal.

the second I plugged her in...my 66 deluxe reverb was whipped into submission!

Tried it with my 56 gold top RI........dist set at 3 oclock, HP, tone at around 3 oclock.........

Sounded like my deluxe sounds when cranked at 6 or 7.......but not blowing my face off.....

Oh..my God........its like I died and went to tone heaven. If you are a blackface devotee..........and you really appreciate natural cranked tube tone..........and you would prefer to only use your blackface (plexi etc....) but its normally too loud when you dial in the sweet spot.......then this pedal is your answer to total sonic tonal freedom......My vibroking basically sounds like its on 10 when the volume level is nice and low on the OCD.......you actually get bottom end at a low level....and I aint talkin' processed fake

One thing i love about this pedal is that you can basically leave it on all the time and work from your guitars volume/tone dials...........and each control on the OCD does what it says it does........in other words, when you turn up the volume it gets louder but not more distorted.........like some other overdrive units............

My bewilderment comes from reading some of the negative reviews for the OCD......

Maybe some people wanna stomp on the OCD and get the " VH brown sound" or some kinda saturated and drippy Overdrive............and they are dissappointed when it does not work that way..........or maybe they just suck to begin with and are bummed out that the ocd does not make their fingers play like Jimmy Page....cuz this pedal is a special invention that is gonna make my gigging life so much easier and more fun................don't buy it if you wanna saturate your tone...........buy it if you are a vintage tone junky and if you are a player who derives most of their tone from their fingers and soul............cuz this little pedal will allow all your touch and technique to shine right through............

I am a blues/jazz guy..........prefer to use the tone of the amp...usually not a fan of pedals since they load the amp up and take tone away........but these fulltones are true bypass so now my opinions of "boxes" have changed..........will definately be buying a clyde deluxe wah and mini dejavibe........

oh..and the '82 tube screamer is soon to be on Ebay! This pedal is that good.........actually its a way nicer and better sounding unit than the TS9.............no comprison!!!!

Easy to get great overdrive to heavy vintage distortion sounds. Three knobs, one switch, very easy to dial in.

I play Tele's and Strat's into a 10 pedal Pedalboard into Fender and BadCat amps. This pedal work well with other overdrive pedals in series or just by itself. This thing sounds great! Best gain box I have ever purchased. I now know why Fulltone named this pedal OCD.

I play Country, Blues, Rock, Top 1000 Hits, you name it, I play it.
Been playing 35 years and have tried and tested most gear in the marketplace. This piece is as Fulltone say's it is, Obsessive and Compulsive. A very fun and touch sensitive pedal to play!

Basic setup that is very functional. Unlike my old Chandler Tube Drive (whose sounds I loved), the knobs are more gradual, and because of the small size of the unit on my pedalboard, I'm less apt to bump up against a knob while playing, and inadvertantly alter the sound or volume. I don't like having too many controls to monkey with, and this gives you what you need.

I'm using a 30th Anniversary Gold Top Les Paul and a Big Apple Strat through my Vox AC 30 hand wired, and Vox AC15. I was looking for a touch sensitive pedal to enhance rather than obscure the sound of these amps and this pedal does it. I favor a nice harmonically rich crunch rock tone, and for leads I tap on my MXR super compressor to boost the rhythm volume and lend some silkiness to the tone. With this arrangement I don't use all the gain this pedal offers, and there certainly is plenty. This pedal works perfectly in conjuction with the compressor, as well as my Dunlop Wah, and H2O delay/chorus. I generally stay fairly dry, rarely using my effects with these amps, and find I'm keeping the OCD on most of the time--merely dial back the axe's volume pot and/or my pick attack to get the clean tones from the amp when needed. At long last, I'm getting great clean sounds with just the amp, clean boost with the compressor, rock crunch with the OCD, and lead tones with OCD and compressor. This pedal is a team player.

Mostly rock, blues, and vintage pop like Beatles, etc. Been playing various guitars for 35 years. Larrivee, Guild, Gibson, and Taylor acoustics, 1976 ES 335, 30th Anniversary Les Paul, '81 Blackie Strat, '94 Big Apple Strat, '64 Blackface Twin Reverb, 55 Twelve Rivera, Marshall 800 channel switcher half stack, Vox AC15, Vox AC30 hand wired. This unit fits in beautifully with my gear, and helps produce the tones I need for live and recorded sounds. I unloaded my Chandler Tube Drive for this pedal, even though it had killer tones, because a buddy is a David Gilmore fanatic and had to have it, and because this thing is QUIET, totally reliable, and fits well in my effects chain on my board. After two months with this puppy, it is still very hard to tear myself away from my gear. I always get the same great sound everytime I flip on the power.

It's easy to use, there's not much to it.

I have a 65' Fender Twin Reverb, a Lonestar strat and a 57' Les Paul Goldtop and the pedal sounds very, very, thin, brittle and fuzzy - very disapointing!

It is very sturdy, however the fact that it makes my Fender Twin sound like a homemade amp, I'll never use it.

I've emailed everyone at the company and got absolutely NO response what so ever. I fully explained my situation and the fact that it sounds nothing like any of the mp3's on their site and if they could offer any advise, and got no response.

I've been playing for 20 years, professionally (meaning I played music and paid all my bills from it) for 10 of those years. Now I play for fun, as a hobby. I currently have a Fender Twin, a Lonestar strat, and a '57 Les Paul Goldtop. I bought this pedal so I could get a great distortion sound out of my amp because that amp has the best clean, so I thought I would be set. I was wrong, really wrong.

It's very simple to use. The 3 knobs are self explanatory. There is a mini-toggle switch that changes the overall character of the pedal.

Absolutely fantastic! It sounds like a cranked up Fender blackface in the LP mode and like a barking Marshall Plexi in the HP mode. I play a Fender Custom Shop 1960 Relic Stratocaster(stock) and a Gibson Les Paul Classic with a Seymour Duncan '59(neck) and Seymour Duncan JB(bridge). My amplifier is a Bogner Shiva(6L6 version). This pedal will only sound as good as your amplifier is. If you play it through a crummy sounding amp, it will not turn it into a good sounding amp. However, play it through an already good sounding tube amp, and it will sound better than ever. I don't know how Fulltone accomplishes this, but I love it. The Strat in LP mode through the Shiva's clean channel is a phenomenal recreation of Stevie Ray Vaughn style blues. The Les Paul in HP mode also through the Shiva's clean channel sounds like a vintage Marshall JTM-45 with the gain set low, and a vintage brking Marshall Plexi with the gain turned up. The great thing about this pedal is that it does not only capture the sound of these vintage amps, but also recreates the feel of them as well. The dynamic range is superb. Pick lightly and you get little breakup. Dig in a little more and you get more overdrive. This means that it is a players pedal. It excels at creating those subtle nuances that seasoned blues players love so much.

Fulltone is very reliable. All their pedals are built to last forever. I have a Fulldrive 2, Choralflange, and Clyde Wah. I have played all these pedals heavily for years, and never had a single problem.

The little rubber feet on my Clyde Wah, Fulldrive 2, and Choralflange were in bad need of replacement. They were not defective. They simply started to dry and crack after years of sweat and beer soaked stages took their toll on them. I emailed Fulltone and they swiftly sent me replacements for each pedal at a very minimal cost.

Overall rating is 10 out of 10. The most incredible thing about this pedal, other than its sound, is that it only costs $175 dollars. I would easily pay way more for this overdrive. Kudos to Fulltone for not charging more. If you love Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, anf all the great blues players, get this pedal! Just make sure you run it in front of an already great sounding tube amp. If you are trying to turn an old solid state Crate amp, for example, into something that sounds creamy and smooth, The OCD is not for you.

Very easy, wide range of pure tone.

I use a GIbson 335 mainly, fender strat, and a rickenbacker 12 string. My amps are Fender Tone Master w/4x12, Music Man HD-130, Music Man RD 2x12, and a Fender Blues Deluxe. I have used this pedal in all my amps and guitars and its amazing. Roll the tone knob and it will clean up! push it and it drives. the reponse is unbeliveable. It sounds great with my Fulltone Fatboost and some anolog delay.

I have dealt with Fulltone before and dealt with Mike Fuller, very quick response and they stand behind their product 100%!! anyone who says otherwise they are liars!! They ensure thier product is top of the line!

This pedal is good for blues, rock, all sorts...it holds more tone than any other pedal I have heard. It can compliment an amps gain channel and it can stay clean but add some beef to your tone. Every guitar sounds good, single coil, humbucker, P-90..this is a killer pedal.

I've been playing professionally for 30 years and I own many vintage and boutique guitars and amps ( including an 18 watt marshall and a vox ac30)....I've owned, and/or played everything over the years. In my opinion this pedal is very open sounding, but a little harsh and fizzy no matter what combination of guitar and amp I tried it with. To its credit, the pedal has nice bass response, lots of output and is relatively quiet, but there are better pedals on the market for this sound..namely the tonebone classic and barber direct drive.

I own a fulldrive 2 and have tried most of this manufacturers pedals over the years and I respect and admire the care and research involved in the production of theses devices, but no one hits a home run everytime.

Manual isnt much help really, but with this pedal you dont really need any. It is extremely easy to use (only three knobs).

Wow! This is my only 'natural' overdrive pedal (so i cant really compare it to anything) but i am floored by how natural and real it sounds. It truly does sound like a cranked amp..and can do so at a very low volume level. VERY nice.

Also i wasnt expecting as much gain as it has. It can get very distorted sounding....so much so i find myself turning down the guitars volume to lighten it up abit.

It also is extremely quiet with no hum (i use a 335 so i dont know how a strat woudl react...but if any it owuld be a natural single coilthing, no tthe pedals fault)

My only real complaint is that the toggle switch settings dont really seem to vary it that much. the top setting seems to be just like a volume boost (and a little more gain like one would expect with volume). But they both sound great so its hard for me to really complain about something like this.

Overall it is an extremely nice sound, that i am very very pleased with.

It seems to be housed in a pretty rock solid case..and i wouldnt fret if i dropped it. I have not had to deal with fulltone any (and hope i wont have to!) but i expect he would help and fix the problem if one arised (even if he was an ass during the process{as some reviews indicate he would be}). Im sure he is an extremely busy man so i can understand.

I play mostly blues/rock ala cream, clapton, SRV. I also adore the beatles. this pedal is an extremely natural sounding OD pedal, and i know that i will always love it! It is by far my best investment in guitar gear (besides my actual guitar). If you are thinking about buying one of these, i would really incourage you to do so...the only reason not to is if you played death metal, or someohter genre where this would not be suitable. Otherwise this is a great pedal at a reasonable price.

I special ordered this from GC. When I came in to pick it up, the employee noticed that the HP/LP switch didn't work (it wouldn't physically move/switch back and forth, and it was stuck on the LP setting). He ordered a replacement, and let me take it home. I used it for a month and was unimpressed. I liked the distortion of my Lonestar classic better than this box; it didn't seem special. I thought I'd just wait for the replacemnt and see if that was any better. If not, I was probably going to sell it.
Anyways, the replacement came in, I picked it up and didn't even bother to plug it in till the next day. But WOW, I was in tone heaven! This new pedal was every thing I'd read and hoped and heard on the Fulltone website.
Now, the distortion was on-par with the lonestar (though it has a little bit more bass and somewhat less mids. With my PRS CE 22, I place the pedal volume around 9 and drive on 12, and get pretty darn close to the gary moore "still got the blues" lead tone, yet roll off the volume on the guitar, and can play the chords (relatively) cleanly... Pretty much just like a cranked tube amp.
I play with the volume and drive settings, but leave the tone between 10 and 12 oclock. Lots of sounds in there, very quiet pedal.
Great sustain. High notes sound round, not piecing (unusual for me, yet bass is strong and punchy. Good woman tones with the tone rolled down.
I like the HP setting a bit more, though both are quite usable.

Well, the first one was broken right out of the box (the mini-toggle switch) and didn't sound special. It had no signs of damage or abuse. Haven't seen anyone else with this complaint. Then, after I had it for 2-3 weeks, the drive knob got loose and fell off. It just took tighting the set screw to reattach it, but I was less than impressed. It does come in a heavy metal box and the main switch seems solid. Hope the mini switch holds up (my Lonestar has a few of those as well...)
The new one seems solid, and if I ever did a gig again (which would be over my wifes dead body), my lonestar would be able to hold me over, but I'd miss it.
Bottom line, the first pedal would get a 1, the replacement has been fine so far (about one month).

Went through GC, the ee (Ryan at San Marcos, CA) noticed the problem as he was handing it to me, and ordered a new one. Service was what one should expect, grading on this. It did take about a month to get a replacement though.
Havent dealt with Mike Fuller, heard the good and the bad, won't grade him on hearsay.

Play classic rock and blues. This pedal is GREAT for these styles. It does cost a lot, so I'm not going to give this a 10, as a 10 automatically states its a "fantastic value".

The pedal is easy to use, only 3 knobs. With the distortion turned up the OCD almost sounds like a metal zone that doesnt suck. Lots of sounds.

I use the OCD as my main pedal in front of my Music Man 65. With a 4x12 cab. It is so loud at band practice im not allowed to turn my amp passed 4. It sounds so good with new JJ EL34's. It loses its good tone when i go into drop tunings. But when im tuned in standard it sounds good. Im still trying to find a way to make it sound good in drop D. You havent heard this pedal until you have pluged it into a music man 65. Since i have got my OCD my sound has become a type of Death Surfer Music. LOL

I think i can depend on it. I changed the battary and the guts of this pedal looked way different then anything i had ever seen. If it were stolen i would find the person who stole it and beat their skull in with it and then plug it in and it would probobly still work.

Its a good pedal, sounds really retro. I play Hard Rock and it makes an awsome mix of old rock and new rock. I wish it sounded better in drop d. I think it would be cool to Mod. I got rid of my Metal Zone and got the OCD and like i said before, its like a metal zone that doesnt suck. Along with the EL34's in my amp this pedal is just mind blowing! I am now the loudest member of my band lol .

It is very easy to use. Volume, tone and drive. Also, a toggle switch(hp or lp) that essentially sounds fender tweedish(lp) or marxhall bluesbreaker(hp)

I am using a 1990 Les Paul Standard into a Victoria Soulcactus.

The OCD really exceeded my expectations. It will replace my TS9(analogman) for now. I set the drive so that it is very touch sensitive. Light touch=clean, heavier touch=overdiven.

I believe it to be very reliable as I have owned another Fulltone pedal for many years without trouble. They are built very sturdy.

I play a wide range of music. Blues/jazz Rock, Twangy alt.country ish.
This pedal is a good match as it has a very wide range that can be used. Each setting,(tone,drive,volume), is very sensitive so you get a considerable change with a small turn of the dial.

I have been playing for 26 years. I also own a Reverend Wolfman guitar,another Victoria amp(35x310), a blackface Fender Champ and several pedals.

I would definately replace the OCD pedal if lost.

I love the touch sensitivity about this pedal the most. It also has the ability to make my tweed style amp sound a bit Marshal bluesbreaker-ish if I tweak the pedal right.

I wish it was set up like the Fulltone Fulldrive, alla to footswitches, first switch a little overdrive, second switch a lot, but overall I love this pedal as is.

Twin Amp. This pedal is quiet and delivers an extremely good
overdrive (not distortion, there IS a difference). I could easily
get along with just the OCD but because I do not like to fiddle with
pedals between songs I like using the other two drives mentioned
above for different levels of drive. The sound quality is very, very
good. So good it replaced both of my Tonebone Classic and Hot
British pedals. So good that my wife, who really doesn't know
music picked this pedal as the best sound in a blind hearing test
she said it sounded more open, defined, clearer, just better. She
as usual is right. I play basically blues and rocks and this pedal
couldn't be better suited. It is very good for slide work. Rating
is based on best pedal ever used but nothing is perfect for EVERYTHING!

Well, I've used this on 3 gigs and so far........it's great.
It's built very well so I don't anticipate any problems.
I have the other drives if it goes..but they can't replace it.

Haven't needed it yet but their website is useful.

AS said, I play blues, rock and sometimes (rarely) country.
This pedal kills for blues and rock. Probably too much for
country but maybe at lower drive settings you could get a good
kick ass country sound. I've been playing 30+ years and been
through a ton of gear. This is the best drive pedal ever........
and that includes my Ibanez ts-9 with the vaunted JVC 4558 chip
and my previously mentioned tonebones. Great size for a pedal
board, great sound, great product, good price (hey, we all want
things cheaper!). I don't think I'll ever buy another drive
pedal.

Very easy to use. Plug it in. Turn the knobs - Drive knob goes from overdrive to full distorted amp. Volume knob is very powerful - 30db - really great for changing volume. HP/LP switch is surprisingly useful.

I play Strats and Les Pauls. I am using this pedal with a Rectifier head set on Clean and various Marshall heads. I use a Carl Martin Compressor pedal, Carl Martin Plexi-Tone, and George Dennis delay/reverb pedal. This is THE distortion pedal I have been looking for. It really makes a great tube amp sound like the best of the Marshall breed with overtones chiming through the distortion and a FAT bottom. I loved the Plexi-Tone - thought it was the best. I bought this pedal to replace my Sparkle Drive, and boy was I surprised to find out just how versital this pedal is. From scratch to complete roar. This is the best distortion pedal I have played through.

Seems solid as a tank. Never had a problem with my other Fulltone pedal (Deja Vibe).

I play Rock guitar in the vein of Soundgarden and some Radiohead stuff - this pedal is perfect. I have been playing for 15+ years, have toured, recorded, etc. If I lost this pedal I would pay twice for it again. It is the best. It just sounds so great. It is very inspirational. Wow. I have been searching for a transparent "American" sounding overdrive to boost the front of my AMP. Compared with Keeley DS1 ultra the OCD is far less buzzy in the upper frequencies when soloing and IMO the attack is far more natural sounding. You almost have to pull the v1 tube (12at7) to stop the keeley from buzzing. What I did not expect is the OCD blowing amay my ts9 modded with the 808 (4558) chip and other hi fi upgrades. One pedal does it all, and this is coming from someone who does not beleive the hype.

Easy to get a good sound from it. Like all effects.........just fool with the knobs until you like the sounds you hear.

I'm using this with a variety of other effects ; Clyde Deluxe Wah - Analogman Bi Comprossor - Analogman Bi Chorus - Mxr EVH Phase 90- OCD or TS808( analogman silver mod ) - Ibanez AD 9 - Ernie Ball volume pedal, all before the amp and a Maxon AD900 and a Demeter Tremulator through the loop of a Mesa Lone star. Guitars are American Deluxe Strats and a Gibson Johnny A Signature. I've used this at home, at rehearsal and a gig since buying it.

Although I'm very happy with the sound of the other OD I have, a re-issue TS808 modded by Analogman ( Silver Mod )........every once in a while I like a little variety and figured I would buy the OCD to throw on my board when in the mood or to give me the flexibilty to use one or the other as a backup.

I really do like the sound of this pedal, I should point out that it is very different from a tube screamer type sound........whereas a tube screamer is rich, smooth and warm, like a 6L6 powered american made overdriven amp.........I would have to say the OCD is a bit more brittle and harsh sounding ( I don't mean this in a negative way )....more like a marshall with a treble booster thrown in front of it.....a very cool sound, but very different from a tube screamer....The OCD is more modern sounding than a tube screamer, but wont take you into Nu metal territory ( which I'm not into anyway )..I'm just trying to give you an idea if your reading this deciding to buy one. It is very tranparent sounding and it's true about the picking dynmamics on this. They come through great. You can get that great " kiss of the pick " sound easily with this for those that know what I mean. The sound of your guitar really does come through this thing. For instance the 2nd and 4th positions on a strat sound great through this pedal....the quack and bell like tone is never covered by the OCD. It sounds better in front of an amp thats already a little overdriven than a real clean amp.....I think a tube screamer is definitely better in front of a clean amp than this and sounds more natural. Occasionally I fill in for bands In my area and am forced to use whatever they may have in the back line...usually a Fender Twin or Deville........in those situations I would not use this pedal I would bring the tube screamer.

The tone knob seems to act like more of a filter on this....a little different than on some other OD's I've used over the years. It reminds me of a Rat a bit in this respect...except the knob ( filter ) goes in a different direction than a Rat. I found a usable sound at about 10 o clock on the tone knob. Anything lower sounds muffled to my ears and anything higher starts to sound too brittle and ice pickish. I dont agree with the manual stating the tone is nuetral at about Noon on the pedal. It absolutely adds high frequency at Noon. I like the LP postion best thus far with the volume dimed and the drive anywhere between 3 O clock to noon. Overall I like this pedal a lot. To me it sounds like a modded Boss DS - 1 a bit. A much, much better and more transparent sound than a stock DS- 1....but it's closer to a DS - 1 than a tube screamer for comparison sake. Also this pedal is the quietest OD I've ever used...the signal to noise ratio is excellent.

Overall this is an excellent sounding pedal and well worth the bucks. Definately a keeper. I believe my Analogman Silver TS 808 will still retain the number 1 position on my board, it's smoother, warmer sound suits the sound I'm going for more......but this will definately take it's place now and then.....and may force me to get a bigger board so I can use both !

I have a Fulltone wah, a couple of years old that I've never had a problem with. This seems to be equally solid. The knobs have a solid feel and smooth taper.........there's also something very cool about the way it looks. I love the type style they used to print the lettering on this ( what can I say, I used to be into graphic arts ).

I bought it from a reputable dealer. I've never contacted Fulltone. I would only contact them if my dealer could'nt correct the problem if I had one. Whats with everyone calling this guy Mike like they know him or something anyway ?? C'mon get a grip will ya !!

I have been playing since my early teens and I'm in my early forties now. Been in and out of bands for years. I currently play in a classic rock and dance band and we play out a handful of times a month. I'm at a point in my life were top of the line equipment is obtainable finacially and a necessity to my maturing ears. This is a quality piece of gear thats well worth the money for a "boutique pedal ". Again, If your looking for a tube screamer type sound I would stick with a tube screamer....but for something a bit more biting with more of a British, Marshall type slant to it so to speak, you wont go wrong with this interesting and cool sounding pedal.

As easy to use as any other overdrive pedal (gain, volume and tone) with the added swith LP/HP.

Played Les Paul-type guitar w/ Seymour Duncan JB on the bridge through the pedal into a Victoria '59 Bassman ripoff.

The pedal is quiet and covers a wide, veeeery wide range of tones, from subtle overdrive to fuzzy distortion. I was curious as if this thing would work as a boost to my amp (which is a '59 Bassman reissue) by turning the volume all the way up and the gain at about 1 (7 o'clock, I guess). I even took my trusty TS9 reissue (stock) to compare and found the O.C.D. better - in a sense that it has more output, more high end and a more 'in-your-face' sound. This pedal is trebly, but you can't control it without problems. Couldn't really tell the difference between LP and HP modes except that the output level of the latter is higher than the former. Tried other settings on the pedal, and found it nice up untill 3 or 4 o'clock; after that the pedal starts getting fuzzy and I don't need that because I got a Big Muff. I'm not that knowledgeble on class "A" amplifiers to judge whether it sounds alike a distorted amp running on this class, so I'll pass it foward.

Fulltone effects are very well and hand built. I mean, there are pros using stock Boss pedals for years without a problem, why would you have a problem with a boutique hand-made pedal like Fulltone?

Before trying the pedal in the store, I e-mailed the company asking some questions about the pedal and Mike Fuller replyed it in 24 hours. Very nice!

I play everything whithin rock: post-punk, punk, metal, alternative, classic, etc., etc. and have been playing for 15 years. I own a '59 Bassman reissue, a Gretsch Sparkle Duo-Jet, a Fender Jazzmaster and a Yamaha AES620. Pedals: TS9 reissue, Boss Turbo Distortion, American Big Muff, Maxon D & S II and a few modulation pedals by Boss.

Man, I would say you need to check this thing out. There's no way you're gonna find out if you don't play it. Take your guitar and a reference pedal with you to the store and try to test the pedal in an amp that is most similar to the one you have.

In comparison with my TS9, the OCD wins because it's much more clear. I think it would do great in dark sounding amps, but mine is on the bright side so the TS9 is o.k. I'm mostly a bedroom player, so I can't tell whether the OCD cuts through live; I know the TS9 does because it's very mid-rangy - the frequency that the human ear can mostly hear.

I rate it a 9 because I was not that impressed as I thought I would be, given all the hype about it.

Very straightforward. Three knobs (for output level, distortion level, and eq) and a mini toggle switch for selecting high and low "output". The manual is brief but tells you what you need to know to get going.

Running an American Strat, Epiphone Elitist Les Paul, and Warmoth Custom Tele into a Peavey Delta Blues with 15" speaker. 90% of the time I run the pedals into a clean amp setting. I'm using the Fulltone ac adapter (9 volt). I've not tried it with an 18 volt adapter yet.
I waited months to finally get this pedal. Lots of hype around it. I have lots of other Fulltone pedals (70 Pedal, Distortion Pro, Full Drive 2, Fat Boost) and have used lots of other overdrive / distortion pedals in the past as well (Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, Pro Co Rat, Boss OD's and Metal Zone, Danelectros, and on and on). I don't know what I was looking for from the OCD. Something transcendental, I guess.
I find that I prefer the high power setting vs the low power setting. Switching to LP seems (to me at least) to just lower the output and punchiness of the sound vs the HP setting.
With drive set low (below 9 o'clock) and volume up and tone around the 12 o'clock position, this box does a good job of beefing up a clean sound to SRV type of clanging Strat (much like my Fat Boost). I found myself playing in this setting for blues stuff. This pedal also cleans up very well with the guitar's volume knob; I could actually get my guitar volume down to about 5 before the sound lost its vibe (vs down to about 7 on the Full Drive and about 8 on the Distortion Pro).
Bringing up the drive to around 12 o'clock ads some nice overdrive and breakup to the clean sound on my amp. Great for crunchy rhythm work.
Maxxing out the drive does give a sound similar to Class A amps (like it says on their website). Even through this heavily distortion setting, notes retained good clarity overall.
This box sounds equally good with humbuckers and single coils.
Was it worth the wait? Is the hype true? I'll say that this is a very versatile pedal in that it can go from giving a nice fat boost / overdrive or add some very nice amp-like distortion. It reminds me of old non-master volume Marshalls. Great sound for classic rock. I think this is probably one of the best overdrive / distortion pedals I've owned. It does cover lots of sonic territory, and although it won't replace my other pedals, it will see heavy use for getting that "go to" sound for classic rock. For that classic rock sound, I think it's hard to beat. I think the OCD and Distortion Pro cover the same sonic territory, but the OCD wins out here because it sounds more natural...more like an amp.

I've never had a problem with any of my Fulltone pedals. I'd gig without a backup because I could use my Distortion Pro if the OCD crapped out. But seems unlikely. Fulltone pedals are really nicely built.

I play blues and classic rock mostly. This pedal works very well for these genres. I play some metal too, and I don't think this pedal works as well for that. I've been playing for over 20 years and own and have owned lots of good (and some bad gear).
I think players who like classic rock and blues and who like nicely made gear should consider picking one of these up. It covers lots of ground and offers tons of tone sculpting capabilities. Plus it has excellent "feel"...which is not easy to find in a distortion box. And yes, this is called an overdrive pedal, but it also ranges into full-blown distortion.
The only feature I'd consider adding would be a second footswitch to go from LP to HP settings, but I didn't really miss this. Again, I prefer the HP setting.
As with most of Fulltone's stuff, the OCD adds so much to my tone that it makes me want to play more. And that at the end of the day, that's what it's all about. Get one, turn it up, and enjoy!

Straight forward - plug and go.

With the High Peak and Low Peak modes this pedals can go a little deeper and be more things to more people. Taken at face value this pedal is as easy as it gets. Knowing what guitars sound best with what amps and with the HP and LP modes really opens this pedal up. The more experienced the player the more this pedal shines.

With about a million choices for overdrive and given the hype on this pedal you really have to wonder what to do. With the first units going for stupid money I stayed away until I could at least get one for List Price. My Blue Blood just wouldn't let me pay $300 bucks for a $179 list. But I digress.

This pedal is the real deal. I played it with my 57 Gold Top and a Marshall JTM 45 Bluesbreaker and BOOM! All the notes are there without having a kinda of synthetic clean superimposed on top of the dirty. This pedal blends them seemlessly. In LP and HP mode this combo was really versitile. I was getting beautiful singing feedback with a very vocal quality.

I then put it in LP mode and plugged my 60's Relic strat into my Custom Vibrolux reverb. Very nice indeed. I still prefer an AC booster or FD2 in this situation but the OCD really sounded amazing. It made the Vibrolux just explode with low end and beef.

I gotta hand it to Mike and Fulltone. This pedal is the swiss army knife of Dirt Boxes. This one is a Keeper. I have a ton of distortion / Drive boxes. This is lives up to the hype in every way.

Fulltone stuff has always been the best.

Mike told me about this pedal about a year before he released it. I was really interested in something of the sort. Mike has always been very laid back and cool with me. I have no reservations about his commitment to his products.

Not much else to say other than GREAT! If you want to go from Dumble Singing sustain to Jimmy Page with one box and really make it happen (NO modeling needed.) This box is for you. If you want the Mesa Boogie Over compressed over saturated mush - you will not be happy.

Once again Fulltone has a winner.

I think it's pretty simple to understand, but the tones seem to change when you change volume settings, so you have to kind of get used to that. When you change the tone knob, it almost seems that the tone that you're going to end up with is based on where your volume is set. In that aspect, this pedal is hard to figure out. If your stoned or something, or your brain farting around, yeah, it's easy to use. There's only 3 knobs, a toggle switch and an on/off button.

I play this through a Kendrick's modified 40 watt '63 Fender Vibroverb reissue with a Celestion 10" and a Jensen 10". I have a customized 15 yr old Fender Strat with an awesome Warmoth neck, Van Zandt blues pick-ups, capacitor mod to accentuate the highs when decreasing the volume on the guitar. I have a Dan Electro DC-3 with Seymour Duncan pick-ups and PRS electronics. I also use a Dunlop 535-Q wah, a Boss twin Delay DD-20(?) and a bunch of Boss effects.

This pedal isn't noisy and certainly not weak by any means. My God, weak? This thing can get so freakin' loud it's almost unlawful. It's kind of like the old recording adage that louder is perceptively better.

It's an awesome sounding pedal. I waited for 2 months for the thing. It didn't bother me because I'm a very patient guy. It's the best pedal I've ever had. It makes my amp sound like it's on steroids. It's a nice, warm, smooth distortion. That's my take on it. It does sound Marshall-esque. I just sold a JCM Slash and i've had a JMP 70's 100 watt lead. The pedal does sound a little like a Marshall.

When I first got this thing, I was in heaven. But then, like another reviewer, I found that when I played with a band, the way that the OCD spreads the EQ makes it a little harder to cut through a band than my punchy, Boss DS-1, which seems to put a stronger mid-range in the mix. That's why I say that the OCD seems smooth to me, because it shimmers the high ends. The bass response is defined, not mushy. I was amazed at how well this thing made my bass response sound when toggled to the HP setting.

The tonality of this pedal is a true work of art. The harmonics are rich and the tone is detailed. Though I don't think it's the Holy Grail of distortions, it blows away anything I've played through except a Budda tube distortion that I played at the NAMM show. I gave away my Boss Overdrive after getting the OCD. I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want this pedal. This pedal is all that Fulltone claims it to be and probably one of the top 3 greatest distortions of all time period.

Seems pretty reliable. It appears to be built very solid. I've never owned a Fulltone before, though they've made a believer out of me and I'll be back, you can bet your britches. I'll buy at least another 2 pedals from Fulltone.

I play surf guitar, rock and a lot on my 2 classicals. I shoot for the sound that John Frusciante gets on By the Way. I also love Van Halen's first few albums, Def Leppards first 2. I have been playing for 27 years. I have owned a plethara of amps and several guitars along the way, mostly Fender and Marshall.

I would buy 2 more of these if I was touring. I almost bought another one after I got this one, but I'm just a weekend warrior now. What do I love about it? It's the best pedal I've ever owned. The tone is warm, real, developed, rich and open. The OCD looks cool and has a cool blue light that gets pretty bright and reminds me of a star when I'm listening to the sound of the pedal and looking at the light at the same time. The blue light was a nice touch for obssessive/compulsive people -clean.

What do I hate about it? I don't hate anything. My favorite feature has to be the HP/LP toggle, as it's quite a drastic change from one to the other, mostly volume wise, but increased bass and treble. I also like the variable voltage that you can supply to it, instead of just 9 volts. And the switches seem solid. I can't compare it to other products because it's the best distortion i've played through of its kind. I chose it because I've heard some really good things about Fulltone and the name of the pedal fit my personality to a "T", plus the description on the Fulltone site made me know that I found my match in a distortion pedal. And the description is right on, note for note. You can't go wrong if you buy this pedal. It's hard to get though.

you dont even have to try to get a good sound out of this they're all useable, and finding what you want is just a tweek away. but it aint gonna be the metal choice. very much a blues/rock pedal (apparenty fuller made it for himself first, and that's what he plays, so it makes sense).

the sound is wicked, really subtle and then full on when you want it to. I run it through a fender deville 2x12 with a strat and a tele, it's my primary distortion tool, i use it through the clean channel and then boost it with the 2nd channel. I keep the gain on the amp at around 4.

Yeah its noisy, and you'd hope so from a distortion pedal (i use an MXR smart gate if i need to, and that works a treat).

you get a really warm eric johnson sound when you have the tone down, and a really cool crunchy vibe when you turn it up, with a little drive you get instant robben ford.

It knocks the sh*t out of all the O/Ds ive ever owned, tubescreamers, Rats, etc.

I've had it for 6 months and it's not gonna break. having said that i wouldn't chuck it down the stairs.

Definately buy another but only used on ebay, not new: they're too expensive in the uk, and mike fuller wont allow the US dealers to ship them out new (so he can charge a good ?200 in the UK). but then if you want pro toys then you gotta pay pro prices...... I tried a lot of stuff, with and without valves in (H&K tube factor, Varydrive, Bottle Rockett) all around the ?200 mark. this beats them all in looks and performance.

the Hp/Lp is cool just allows for more tweeking, and a greater variety of tones, Hp being "brittish" and Lp being "tweed".

oh yeah and the light is blue, so that makes a nice change!

I've not had the chance to run it on 18v, but aparently is cooks even better. It certainly sounds great on 12v anyway.


So: pricey, but worth it. go second hand and get a proper bargain.

All the controls are straight forward and self explanatory, except for the HP switch, which is for more upper mid/distortion.

This is a "clear" distortion pedal, which is the conclusion that I came to by comparing it side-by-side with the Tube Screamer, Fulldrive, Tonebone Classic and Rat distortion.

When engaged, espeically in lower gain settings, all of the rest of pedals had that honkiness in the midrange or filtered out some frequencies (especially the lows), thus coloring the tone, giving the pedal its unique sound (I use the term "color" not necessarily in a bad way).

In comparison, what's unique about the OCD is that it didn't really change or filter out anything, thus resulting in sound that's clear and true to the original signal, i.e. open, non-nasally midrange, better low frequency response and fuller body, etc. By the same token, however, OCD didn't really saturate the tone with syrupy smooth tube overdrive (which again is not necessary a bad thing) like some of the other pedals do. In higher gain, the above stayed true but less apparent due to the heavy amount of distortion.

I like this quality of the OCD, which I think is unique that I don't often come across on pedals. The OCD really shines when it's used in combination with alrealy overdriven amp to give a little more of juice, or with a clean amp to give a little bit of edge without coloring the tone or filtering out certain frequencies.

The OCD is a great sounding pedal. It's not a do-it-all distortion pedal, but its transparent tonal quality makes it unique compared to the majority of other distortion pedals. My only complaint is about the high price (thus a 9), but if you know what you want and if you can get it, money should be no concern, or should it?

Just like any other Od, it's easy to figure out, three knobs and a switch.

I picked this pedal up yesterday, after reading the reviews, and listening to clips, and was convinced it would meet my low gain needs. I'm using a boogie lonestar, and thought this would contrast the vintage marshall sound of my amp nicely. I was sorely disapointed. The pedal is great, it's just not my thing. I aggree with a previous reviewer's comment that like the fulldrive, and Fuller's other makings,there is a certain fizz or bite to the top end that makes this pedal unusable to me. With the tone knob on 0 and the lp switch engaged, I could almost mask it, but I had no definition in my tone. As much as I'd like to keep it, it's going back, and I am picking up an 808 reissue, which was my original plan.
I want to reiterate, this isn't a horrible pedal, and for any kind of blues or more raunchy rock, it would probably be great, maybe even with a marshall type amp it would be better, but for a very light OD, into a clean amp, it just doesn't do it for me.

I had a fulldrive for a while, and it was built like a tank, so I would guess this would be too.

Well, does it need to be said? Never had a problem, but plenty of folks have.

I'm a funk randB player mostly, with a few dabbles in jazz and jam type music, and I've been through more pedals than I could ever recall. I think I've had at least 30 OD's in the past 5 years, so I may just be picky, but I wanted to throw my opinion out there just to offset all the perfect 10's. it's as easy as it gets. drive gets you more distortion. volume makes it louder. tone makes it cut through a bit more, especially on humbuckers. the hp/lp alters the midrange a bit a gets you a fairly different tone. very useful for recording

my setup includes: les paul standard, tele, strat or es-335 into a keeley compressor versus fulltone fulldrive II, fulltone '69 pedal or octafuzz into a rivera chubster. i really use no other effects other than this one when i'm running it which i'm finding is about all the time these days.
the effect has nosie but certainly not much with humbuckers and it's really not been a problem.this pedal is simply fantastic. i diagree with the indiidual who stated the black crowes tone was not possible with this pedal. quite simply, this pedal through my rivera is about the closest i've come to rich robinson's tone. perfect for jimmy page, and about any other classic rock song you have heard. it lets the amp breath and is very musical.
The beauty of this pedal is that i've tried it in fenders and marshall like amps and it always seems to sing. well worth the money

Volume, Tone, Drive settings. A drummer could (maybe) figure it out.

I use a 56 Relic Strat and a PRS McCarty through a Dr. Z Z28 amp (1x12 Greenback, 22 watts via 6v6 tubes). My pedalboard goes like this: Boss stompbox tuner ( I don't recall model), Barber Tone Press compressor (an excellent piece of gear), OCD pedal, Blackstone overdrive, Carl Martin Tremo'Vibe, Holy Grail reverb. The OCD is surprisingly quiet at moderate settings and adds only a little noise at settings above 12 o'clock. This could also be because the Z28 is an extremely quiet amp. I don't know... When I first received the OCD I plugged in direct so as to hear it by itself. The sound of this pedal in that amp with either guitar had enough going on that any other effects would almost be overkill. The Strat is fat, dynamic, and loaded with harmonics on the LP setting, which gives, according to the manual, a cranked blackface or tweed sound, depending on how you EQ the pedal. With the McCarty I can dial up just about every great blues or blues rock tone made over the last thirty years. The tone knob has a very wide range. So much that I would say that most players would have enough of everything between the 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock settings. Beyond that, you would have to have a guitar with a broken tone pot to need more treble. With the mini-toggle in the HP position you get a good volume boost and more pronounced, or I should say pointed, mids. This does actually give you a good British type sound- sort of spiky and in your face, but still musical. The way I've been using the pedal is like this: LP setting and gain around 10 o'clock for my Strat, and HP setting and gain around 12 o'clock for the McCarty. And as I said, rarely above 12 o'clock on the tone knob for either guitar. There has been a lot of hype about this pedal and for good reason- it delivers on it's promise. The range on the tone control is the magic ingredient here IMHO. You can get satisfyingly familiar OD sounds up until about halfway on the drive setting and from there it takes you into a higher gain area, but never into the whistly Boogie or Rat neighborhood. The higher settings produce some wonderful old Marshall type sounds without the fizzy stuff a lot of pedals produce. I really didn't hear the Vox thing in here, but I've never been a Vox guy so it might be because I don't know what I'm looking for. I did hear some terrific overtones and was also able to get some nice feedback at reasonable levels. I know you've heard it before, and it's also in the manual, but it's true- it's like getting 2 pedals in 1 box. A great OD and a warm AND a smooth distortion in a neat compact package. And it cleans up nicely and that feature also gives you some useful rhythm and quieter lead sounds.

I own a few Fulltone boxes and have never had a problem with any one of them.

Blues is my first love but I also play in a horn R+B band. The high gain settings may not fly in that lineup, but who knows? This pedal is so musical that I will probably be able to work it in somewhere. I've been playing 16 years and recently let a lot of stuff go that I felt was not helping, just hindering. This pedal will always have a spot on my board. I checked out a T-Rex Mudhoney, a Menatone King of the Britains, and a Jaques Fuse Blower before purchasing this pedal. They were all cool sounding in there own ways, but I felt that for the money this box offered a lot more. I personally feel this pedal was a bargain at the price I paid. No buyer's remorse here. I would be sick if it were lost or stolen and I am considering buying another just to make sure that these sounds are always available to me.

Bought this one brand new from MusicToyz, after waiting about 3 weeks - not bad, at all! Pretty easy to use - volume, drive, tone (treble cut, from what I can tell) and HP/LP switch. Just the kind of pedal I like... it has a distinct voice with some minor degree of tweakability. I like not having to worry about minor shifts in controls causing major changes in tone - it makes your signal chain more predictable and reliable - even if a minor toe swipe gets you a little off your tone, you're not too far.

I'm using this with a 335 Dot RI, a 57 goldtop LP RI, 73 LP custom, Roadhouse strat with Van Zandts, Strat plus with Kinman's, 52 RI Tele and a Frankinstrat HSS with floyd setup, going through a chain as follows: Analogman Bi-comp, Fulltone Deja-vibe, Analogman silver TS-9, OCD, Marshall Shredmaster, Fulltone Octafuzz, Analogman Bi-Chorus, Boss DD-2, Boss Noise suppressor, then mono or stereo out from a Yamaha Magicstomp (for reverb and delays). Amps are a VHT St-50 with 2x12 cab and an Allen Old Flame, 2x10 combo. I was looking for a back up for the Shredmaster, which is still my favorite pedal of all time... the OCD comes pretty close! It doesn't have quite the midrange sparkle that the Shredmaster has, or the bottom end and is almost too shrill for my taste, but with the tone turned down to around 10 o'clock and the drive at 1 o'clock, both the HP and the LP settings are sounding pretty good. As I said, there's a slightly shrill edge to the OCD that seems to be present in all the Fulltones I've had (and gotten rid of - Distortion Pro, Fulldrive II, '69 pedal) but this one is controllable and I can get some very useable tones out of it, especially with the darker sounding VHT head, which can get muddy pretty quick, if you don't study the EQ for quite a while. I will say it is one of the loudest pedals I've ever had, second only to a Banzai Fireball II I just got rid of... If you need to drive the front end of an amp, this thing will do it! But, I''m not sure that that kind of difference in volume between clean and overdriven settings is all that useful.... I like a pedal that is jst a bit beyond unity, otherwise you are either killing people or they can't hear your rhythm parts. But, if you want extra juice, this thing has it. So far, I think this is the best overdrive pedal from Fulltone I've heard... I never liked the Fulldrives, and don't have enough use for the fuzz pedals, although they do sound pretty good. For sounds, I'm going for either a Robben Ford, Gary Moore or Scott Henderson tone on either humbuckers or strats. This does those tones pretty well, with some amp tweaking.

Fulltones have a great reputation for quality - seems very solid, but a minor gripe... although I use a powered pedal board, I don't like manufacturers who make you use a screwdriver to change batteries... might be more secure that way, but I prefer the rubber feet with the screwhead mounted inside - a simple twist with the thumb and fingers to change batteries. So, better than some, but worse than others in this dept. I don't know what the aversion to a battery bay door, ala Boss, et al, is, but that's the easiest way to deal with these things. I would also prefer the power plug located on the top, rather than the side... Analogman gives you a choice, on some of his pedals! As far as back up, that's what I bought it for... the Shredmaster may die some day, so I've been looking for a close replacement. This one is as close as I've come, so far.

Haven't had a need, other than one non-response to an email on another pedal. I imagine I would get tired of the guitar playing public, too, but after you deal with someone entirely professional and responsive like Analog MIke, or David Allen, you have to wonder why any one would say anything bad, unless it were close to the truth. Don't know the guy, but I give him credit for creating solid, thoughtful products... the better the build, the less the need for great customer service, but it's always nice to have both.

I play in a fusion band, love playing mostly blues, blues fusion and bebop, though I would like to spend more time with fingerstyle and country. Playing for 35 years, professionally for 3, part-time most of the rest of it. My heroes are Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Robben Ford, Scott Henderson, Anthony Wilson, Peter Bernstein, Kurt Rosenwinkel, as well as Hendrix, BB, old Clapton, Rick Derringer, etc. I'm chasing tone and chops like everyone else, trying lately to pare down to a few tones I really like, so I am not so distracted by gear. Gear is no substitute for talent, but at the same time, nothing can make your unit wilt like bad tone! As far as the OCD, it's the closest in sound to my favorite pedal, the Shredmaster... It's important to me to get a good tone at club volume... who can play at the volumes that really make an old Marshall sing, these days? My advice: find a Shredmaster on eBay... if you can't find one, get an OCD. It's pretty close, well made and easy to use.

There's not much to it, the same three basic controls that have been on overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedals for decades: Volume, Tone and Drive. I started off with the tone selector switch at LP with the Tone and Drive knobs at the Noon position, and the volume at 9 or 10 o'clock. This is a good starting point with the pedal, just play around with the knobs to your liking. If you want to give it a boost in the upper mids and more gain, turn the switch to the HP setting. The change is sort of like switching from an old tweed Champ to a early 70's Plexi, to even JCM800 territory (this thing has a LOT of gain).

I'm using this pedal with a handwired, totally stock 1973 Marshall Superbass head into a Bogner 4x12 with Vintage 30's. The main guitar used is a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in silverburst. I've got to say, I'm very, very, very pleased with this pedal. The sound is extremely tight, especially on the lows. The attack on this thing is insane, almost as quick as the Diezel VH4 that I used to have. With it being that kind of beast, the pedal is super responsive to pick attack, muting and any general sort of fret and hand work. It picks up EVERYTHING, but at the same time is actually very, very quiet. On the LP setting, the pedal coaxes some great Tweed Champ tones with a little more of a hifi sound to it. I don't know how to describe it, it just sounds extremely clear and lush. The pedal cleans up extremely well on this mode by rolling your volume knob down. Rolling the tone knob down a bit and switching to the neck pickup can yield some great Duane Allman tones, and with the drive knob higher gets more a greasy sag 'ala Billy Gibbons (but clearer and tighter sounding). With the HP mode, it made my Marshall come alive more than any other overdrive that I've put in front of it. As far as high gain, imagine a cross between the wall of sound and chunk of High On Fire, but with the tightness, crispness and clarity of Malcolm and Angus. My band plays a lot of music in the stoner rock vein, and it definetly delivers.

All in all, it gives me exactly the sound that I want. Set moderatly in front of a driven non master volume Marshall gives a sound that sets the sky on fire. The best overdrive pedal that I've ever played easily. I like the Fulldrive/Tubescreamer sound, but I've never liked how mushy they sound.

I used to own a Bassdrive, and Mike was very responsive and serviced it well when one of the switches broke. Everybody gives the man shit, and I'm sure some of the "horror stories" are true, but everytime I've spoken with the man he's been awesome. Very busy, but awesome!

As I said before, I think Mike's a standup guy who stands behind his products.

I pretty much play most of my stuff in a heavy, fuzzed out rock band. I've always wanted a pedal that could pull of that sound, and still give me the tones that I love that are less aggressive but still are chimey, clear and tight. I'm very impressed with this pedal, and its my favorite Fulltone pedal, even before the Bassdrive (which kicks ASS on guitar, BTW). Check it out, if you can find one.

So easy a drummer could use it! Just kidding! Seriously, it's just like the controls on your mere mortal overdrive, i.e. drive, volume, and tone. The tone control works a bit differently than say the tone control on a tube screamer. It not just a variable low pass filter. Seems like its kind of a ganged bass/treble control with center being neutral, ... very neutral. It also has a voicing switch labeled LP and HP. The HP juices the upper mids and the LP does not. Sounds good all over the map.

I'm running one of three guitars ("Anita" a Carvin Bolt Strat-oid that I built from a kit, "Ken's Folly" a Double cutaway Les Paul-oid that I built from Warmoth parts, or a Reverend Slingshot). The guitar feeds the OCD, then a Keely modified Sparkle Drive, then a Guyatone Micro Delay and finally an MXR Stereo Chorus. I run two amps, a THD BiValve (pronounced mids, sparkly highs, with good crunch) and a Reverend Hellhound (clean & deep bass with shimmering highs). These feed a home built stereo 4X12 loaded with Celestion V30's and a G12H30. The OCD replaces a Keeley modified TS9 Tube Screamer. The TS9 is a cool pedal, but I was never able to get used to the intense mid-hump that it introduced. While this hump was welcome with single coils and a Fender-oid amp, P90s and humbuckers sounded not so good to my ears. The OCD solves this for me. In the LP voicing, the pedal is very neutral sounding, so you can leave the pedal on to juice up the amps a bit and control the amount of drive with the guitar volume control (what a radical concept!). The guitars still sound like themselves, i.e. EQ-wise there's not very much difference between the OCD being off and on. Just what I was looking for! If I need the extra mids, I can use the Sparkle Drive, but moderate it as needed by mixing in some boosted clean. Pretty sweet! IMHO You can believe Mike Fuller's description on the Fulltone website.

I haven't had the thing long enogh to provide a testimonial here. However, the build quality and Fulltone reputation inspire a fair amount of confidence.

No opportunity as yet to test this out. Hope I never have to.

I play classic rock or something like it with a fair amount of blues thrown in. My yin and yang of guitar are Santana and SRV. This pedal, along with the rest of my rig, get me into that tone spectrum with some room to spare.
I have been playing for 30 years with about a decade pulled from the middle of that while I persued other interests.
I also checked out a Radial Tonebone Classic. I thought that it had excellent tone as well as a lot of potential flexibility, most of which I wouldn't use. The Classic was also bigger and a tad more expensive. The smaller size and slightly lower cost for, what has turned out to be the nearly perfect fit for my rig, tipped the scales. But what really iced it for me was the thrill of the hunt for this currently hard to get pedal. DO NOT pay the $250+ that these things are getting on e-bay. It's good, but not that good. Contact Fulltone dealers and get on their waiting lists.

It is very easy to use simple layout and great tones are easily atainable (with the help of a good amp)Pretty self explanitory I wish the lp and hp setting were footswitchable though. I am considering running two of these I like both settings that much.

I have a victoria 4510 bassman with mojo tone speakers and JJ tubes.I use a pedaltrain with voodoo lab power supply,boss tuner OCD, ibanez ts808 reissue,holy grail reverb,boss delay with George l cables. My main guitar is a Warmoth strat nitro finish fralin steel pole 43 in the bridge with vintage hots neck and middle.I also have a warmoth tele with the broadcaster pu's and my old gibson " the paul "I bought new in jr high.
The OCD sounds great with the vicky. my bassman is a little on the dark side and the fulltone really ads some punch. If you dial it in you can just ride your volome knob to go from edgy rythm to stinging lead. I really like it It made my old gibson breath rock and roll fire and thats something I wasn't getting out of the vicky before

I have been playing 32 years off and on. played country when I was young rock when I was older and like modern blues now.The OCD really works with my setup. I think If you have a bright amp or are't starting with a good warm tone you might not like this pedal. also this thing is like a good tube amp its unforgiving and very touch sensitive.I have this theory that all these modeling amps with tons of effects have created sloppy players that dis good equipment because they aren't able hide their mistakes. I LOVE THE ocd it made my amp better put the TS808 to shame

Volume, Overdrive and Tone. Nice and simple, easy to use. Choose HP or LP, another easy decision. I find myself using the HP mode.

I think the best way to rate an overdrive pedal is to compare the sound you get from the pedal's boost to the sound you get from the amp by simply turning up the volume to a higher level without the pedal. Some players may simply want "more of the same", meaning the same sound but at a higher volume, while other players may want a higher volume along with some coloration of the sound. I fit in the second category; I want "more of the same" but also richer harmonics than you get simply by turning the volume up. The OCD delivers on this account.

I'm a Fulltone fan. I have a Full Drive 2, and I just recently sold a Distortion Pro to help pay for the OCD. In a way, the OCD is a Distortion Pro that has gone to finishing school to get some added refinement. I plan to keep the Full Drive 2, though, because it has a different character.

Running the OCD through a Two-Rock Jade head produces a very Dumble-like tone that sounds like a blend of SRV, Santana and Cream-era Clapton. Try it some time!

Haven't dealt much with Fulltone. Mike Fuller is pretty blunt in his e-mails, so try to be businesslike if you want to contact him.

It's true there's a lot of hype about this pedal at the moment, but I feel that anyone who tries one will not be disappointed. Guitar Player's statement that it sounds like a "badass Marshall" is pretty accurate.

Easy to use, it's a distortion pedal.

I wasn't very impressed. I used it through a Top Hat King Royale and a '63 Vibroverb RI with a Music Man Albert Lee and a MIJ '62 tele. It does have a nice open crunchiness, but I found that with both amps, more so with the Top Hat, it had a very fizzy decay. Hit a chord, the attack sounds great, but it tails off into an ugly fizz. If you never hold a long note it's fine, but hey, sometimes I do.

Only had it a week. I've had other Fulltone stuff, it's pretty reliable. I do have a Supa Trem that crapped out on me, but they were pretty good about fixing it.

I emailed them regarding my Supa, no problems.

I play indie rock in a band that plays out a bit. Here are the distortion pedals I've owned - Menatone Red Snapper, KOB, Blue Collar and TBIAC, Tone Bone Classic, Maxon DS830, Maxon OD820, Maxon ROD881, SPF Greenline, Fulltone Fulldrive II, Boss Metalzone, Keely Boss SD-1, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Frantone Brooklyn, and Tubscreamer. I don't know if that makes me an expert or a retard...anyway, this pedal almost does it, but the fizz disqualifies it for me. I'll stick with my Red Snapper and Greenline.

Very simple to use and understand. You only need the volume on about 9 or 10 o'clock. There is a significant volume difference in the LP and the HP settings.

This is where the pedal really dissapointed me. After all the glowing reviews I expected to see God after plugging in this pedal. My initial reaction to the pedal was, wow, this sounds good. But one can not effectively rate a pedal if not comparing it side by side to others(IMO).

On my pedalboard I have a newer Fulldrive, a Klon, an RC Booster, and a ToneBone Distortion all plugged into a Bogner Shiva (for guitar I used a Suhr Classic Strat and a vintage 72 Thinline). I thought this would be a good test as I could compare a real tube amp on the Shiva (on the 2nd channel)and then click over to the clean channel and compare the ToneBone and the OCD on clean.

The real eye opener happened after I clicked off the OCD and turned on the ToneBone Distortion. In my opinion, the ToneBone sounded like a real tube amp distortion and the OCD sounded very fake and uninspiring. It was like comparing stereo sound to mono. When comparing the OCD to the real tube amp distortion from the Shiva, it fell far short from sounding realistic. The OCD sounded a bit nasally and lacked harmonic richness when comparing. To me, it colored the natural sound of my amp and guitar. The OCD was much more dynamic than the Fulldrive, and I could see how people would prefer the OCD to the Fulldrive.

There are downsides to every pedal, including the Tonebone, but when comparing Sound Quality only, the OCD fell short. I did feel the OCD cleaned up nicely when using the volume on your guitar. For sound quality only I would give this a 7 as it did not make the cut to stay on the pedalboard.

I have a Fulltone Choralflange and Fulldrive and all Fulltone products are made with great pride and quality. I use Fulltone products without a backup without worry.

I have had only good customer support from Fulltone and I believe they are the pioneer (and trendsetter) in the boutique pedal craze.

I play in a cover band playing a variety of rock from the 60-90s. I have been playing for close to 25 years and have a serious affliction of G.A.S. owning a variety of (9)guitars, (5)amps and (15+)pedals. I really wanted this pedal to be great, in fact, the downside of the Tonebone is that it is larger than most pedals, which made the OCD so appealing. Needless to say, the OCD is now sold and I have a new sense of appreciation for the Tonebone. I know this rating turned into a review for Tonebone, but if I had about $200 to spend on a distortion, the choice would be clear and I am sure there are other nice choices. I would not recommend spending stupid money on this pedal.

Very easy to use. Tone control is usable at all ranges to match or balance against your amp's characteristics. Good documentation.

I was looking for a good distortion/overdrive to run against a '67 Fender Pro Reverb (40 watt 2 x 12 - clean tone of pure heaven!) set on clean. Normally when playing out I'll run a Marshall and use a boost which is a great sound - My all-time favorite in fact. However, while the Pro Reverb is a great amplifier also for playing out with bluesier stuff, it's also a terrific clean tone for at home playing/practicing and so I wanted a distortion box that could do well at home and for playing out. It is VERY difficult to find a distortion pedal that can retain the full fidelity and range of the guitar when you run it. Many boxes seem really picky about what they are used with. This one accomplishes that task and worked well whether I used a Strat, Les Paul, or P-90 equipped SG.

I've owned/own a few Fulltone pedals and have enjoyed them. Tastes have changed over time and so I'm really tuned into wanting full fidelity in the signal path compared to the FD-2 or Tube Screamer type of tone (which also has its place and I used to love, but not favoring quite as much these days).

The tone of the OCD is unique - it has it's own mark of crunch in its sonics that is somewhat Marshall-like I suppose. It's not like the FD-2 which is a softer, rounder type sound like a Tube Screamer, and it's not quite like the Distortion Pro which has a lot of gain, but also has its own mark that sounds kind of like a Rat pedal that's been modified which is gainy, but really smooth. The DP-1 can also be a little tricky to dial in because it's got all of the extra e.q. options. The OCD is straight ahead and easy to get a good sound out of very quickly. The OCD is a more aggressive and crunchy tone, but it's a distortion tone that does NOT tear your ear off with ear-bleeding frequencies. It's very listenable and nicely tuned. Mike Fuller has a good ear.

The amount of gain this pedal has is medium-to-high, about what a Boss DS-1 or ToneBone Classic has. In fact, come to think of it, the OCD is in the similar neighborhood of distortion tone somewhat reminding of the old Boss DS-1, but really has a bit of e.q. refinement and crunch character that again sounds great and more contemporary! For those looking for even higher gain sounds, the OCD sounds really good for leads when I hit the front end of it with the Fulldrive 2. Nice combination of gain when needed.

What I especially appreciate about the OCD is that whether or not I'm running the bright switch on the Fender, the OCD's tone control can be set to where the unit sounds good in either setting. I find I like the LP setting on the OCD for being more neutral.

If you're looking for an overdrive/distortion that has a more aggressive character and is contemporary in sound, the OCD is worth checking out. Definitely a keeper for me.

I'm sure it's built well and dependable like his other products.

Mike's "reputation" of being not-nice, etc. is largely undeserved in my opinion. Just the fact that he has the sales volumes he does AND he's able to answer e-mails and calls personally is pretty impressive. People complain that he has been "short" in replies, but one needs to understand that he's a business and can only dedicate so much time to everyone. If you're looking to chat with someone for hours who is a gear builder, better to buy from someone less known who's starting out (plenty of folks on the H.C. forums who will build you stuff who'll like to talk with you). However, that said, there's a reason why Fulltone's stuff is popular - it's solid and sounds good. All said, I've almost always gotten prompt replies to inquiries.

The price is attractive and the distortion sound is great for my needs today. Matched with a FD-2, it's a versatile combo for my Fender-based rig. Who knows - I may hate the thing and want some other kind of tone down the road as tastes do change sometimes, but with the OCD I kind of doubt it. You're either going to enjoy this type of crunch that rocks or you're not. Give one a listen and try for yourself.

Very easy to use, like most overdrives, although I'm not a huge fan of little teeny switches on pedals.

I didn't care for this pedal. The hard setting is pretty nice for a certain kind of rock tone, but I just didn't like the sound of it as much as my Analog Man "King of Tone". It seemed a little thinner and grainier than the KOT. I'm being pretty critical hear but I think there needs to be some balance in these reviews. I used both the KOT and the OCD pedals on two separate gigs to compare them, and the OCD lost. I admit it is somewhat comparing apples and oranges, and comes down to personal taste. I'm not saying the OCD is crap, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The KOT has a more transparent sound and seems to interact with my guitar in a more natural way than the OCD. I think Mike Fuller's stuff is really well-made, and he pays a lot of attention to detail but I've personally never been able to bond with any of the Fulltone pedals I have owned. I guess I have a different philosophy of sound or something. For an edgier rock sound I use a Way Huge Red Llama, that pedal plus KOT pretty much covers it for me. The OCD is a box that is aimed at doing two things well, the other thing I didn't like was that the two settings vary wildly in volume/output. So it's not like you can use both settings on the gig without screwing around and tweaking the pedal everytime you switch modes. It's fine in the bedroom, but live you pretty much need to choose one setting or the other, or else have two of them. I already have two great boxes for this purpose so I didn't really need the OCD but I'm always looking to see what is out there that might be better. This pedal is good, but there is way too much hype around it. It's not going to change your life or make you play great all of a sudden. In a year or all the hype will have died down and they'll be selling used for $125.

All the Fulltone stuff is really built well and Mike stands behind his products I would have no worries about using any of his stuff as far as dependability.

I've seen people complain about Mike's attitude but I've had several dealings with him and he's always been absolutely great with me.

I play whatever I get paid to play, I'm a professional working musician. Blues, R & B, theatrical work, Country, Cajun, rock n roll etc. I specialize more in American roots music more than straight rock.

I use high-end Gibson and Fender guitars, usually tweaked with vintage or boutique pickups, into Fender and Matchless amps. The OCD just wasn't a great match for me. It would be more usefull if when you switched overdrive modes the volume difference was not so great, but I assume that wasn't possible to implement because of the nature of the design.

Volume, Drive, Tone and HP/LP selector. Pretty easy to use if you know what sound you want or have in your head.

US Fender Strat, US Fender custom shop Tele thru a simple setup - Ernie Ball Volume pedal - mini dejavibe - FD2 - OCD - Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo - Fatboost.

The OCD by itself has tonnes and tonnes of different sounds and everytime i touch the OCD dials or backoff my guitar volume, a different sound. The HP setting, i feel, is very mordern sounding. I could dial in U2's - Vertigo OD/distortion tones easily. I found it hard to dial in OD tones which where more 'vintage' like Black Crowes - Hard to Handle for example. The lead tones on this setting will put a smile on any lead guitarists' face. The clarity of this pedal is astonishing. The transparency is good but i felt it starts to lose it when u pile on the drive over 2 o'clock.

The LP setting is more interesting. I could dial everything from heavy metal 'chunky' sounds on power chords to more 'vintage' stuff sounds to nice low blues guitar overdrive. Fantastic. The transparency on this mode is great. Extremely transparent. Again the clarity on this setting is astonishing. Still i found - and maybe because of the extreme clarity of this pedal - there is some difficulty getting 'vintage' tones out of this pedal. I guess that's why i left my FD2 on my pedal board!

I've owned lots of OD/Distortions in my time and this is by far the most mordern sounding pedal. I'm really happy with it and it's really up to individual on his needs.

The OCD pedal is now my centre stone and i've built my pedal board around it. It seems to enhance the pedals around it - makes them a bit more edgy and maybe gives them a kick up the a**.

3 knobs. Volume. Drive. Tone. Just listen and even if they weren't labled you would know what what they do. VERY easy to use.

One thing I dont think people have said is the difference between the HP and LP sound settings. HP = high peak, boost mids, or what Mike Fuller in his manual calls a Vox-y/Marhsall-y overdrive sound and LP Low peak is just an added overdrive to your natural guitars sound. Both are excellent sounding on their own. BUT REALIZE, if you are looking for a midrange overdrive "tubescreamer but more natural sound" this is not the pedal. Not that is bad in any what either. Just a comment. I actually like the tubescreamer midrange and slightly compressed character. Some don't, but I can feel the balls of a tubescreamer which I like. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE this pedal as well. Im just trying to point out SOME differences.

This pedal is amazing at any setting as said before. I use the HP for more edgy rock and harder overdriven stuff and LP for lighter stuff. Those are just my personal preferences. Find out for your self. People have commented on the natural sound of my tone . I love this pedal because it doesnt change your guitars sound. Just maginifies it and overdrives it. Exactly what I have been wanting. I would say everyone should have this pedal. It is the pedal that is my main overdrive pedal on my pedalboard. I dont even see the need to buy a second for backup purposes. Find out for yourself. I feel that its the best sounding, dynamic, and reacting with all gear pedal I have ever used. No doubt about it.

Ive used Fulltone products for 4 years and never had a problem with any of them after touring, and countless gigs. I know you will find the same.

To me this is the best overdrive pedal out there. I have owned the Landgraff overdrive, Keely Moded Tubescreamers, Analogman moded Tubescreamers, and TONS of other boutique overdrive pedals that I dont want to waste time naming. This to me is the best one so far. Props to Mr. Fuller.

Just plug and play... It sounds great right out of the box.

I play on the road with a band out of Nashville. I have a smaller pedalboard, for fly dates, that I have been using a Fulldrive as my main cruch pedal. We use backline on our fly dates, so I'm at the mercy of the backline Co. to provide a decent amp. The Fulldrive has worked pretty well with just about everything, but the OCD is totally my thing. It sounds amazing with marshalls, Voxes and Fenders!!
I usually fly with a Les Paul and a Les Paul double cut with P-90s.
Everyone at soundcheck noticed the day I added this pedal. It blew everyone away!

So far, my Fulltone pedals are the only ones on my pedalboard that I haven't replaced. The airlines are brutal on gear!

This pedal does exactly what the ads say it does. It clean up great when you turn your guitar down. It sounds great with a variety of amps. I will probably buy another one as a spare.

Its all about what works for the individual player. Everyone has thier own idea of "good tone". With that said, I believe the OCD will go down in history as one of the best overdrive/distortion boxes ever. As for noise, give me a break, ITS A HIGH GAIN OVERDRIVE, it will have some noise that is the nature of the beast. My suggestion is when your not playing your guitar turn off your pedals! It cracks me up when I read a review of a pedal and someone says it noisy when I stop playing, HELLO!

I dont foresee any problems. I have been dealing with Fulltone since 1995 and have not had any problems with any of my Fulltone effects. I consider Fulltone Effetcs the highest qaulity pedals on todays market.

I play metal, hardrock, fusion, blues, jazz, country, and whatever style happens to capture my imagination. The OCD is not my only dirt box, but it has become the main #1 in my lineup.

Great sounding pedal ! I didn't have an overdrive that was without some sort of mid hump,as I could never find one I really liked the tone of .Now its a Fulltone 69, OCD ,KOT,Supa trem, Ibanez AD9 ,ABY to tuner and either a Matchless D/C30 or a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe with Celestion alnico blue( a friend made the tweed for me and its easy as good as any Kendrick or Victoria IMO !) The brand is COWBOY.
So i use the OCD in conjuction with the KOT. OCD for rhythm mostly and KOT yellow side for lead boosts.The red side of the KOT is also another great sound on its own .When combinedwith the clean boost on the Supa Trem and the 69 fuzz theres a whole bunch of great tones available from clean boost right through to singing liquidy leads.
At first the OCD sounded a bit bassy and almost scooped, but when it got the gig test it was really impressive .Punchy without the mid hump(which I do like but just wanted a pedal without extra mids).Its almost valve like, similar in some ways to a HOTBOX I thought.
This pedal is very amp like and can sound clean and dirty at the same time just by dynamics and playing with something called your guitars volume pot!

As with all fulltone products ,its built to last a life time and probably will out live most of us ( if it were a living thing that is !). The old black top switches Mike used initially were absolute crap and always needed replacing . He sorted that out and all was good from then on for me.

Never had to deal with Fulltone.If a switch goes I'll fix it myself as I live in Australia !

I Play mainly telecasters and a 1959Les PAul Junior. One of my teles is a customshop 63 Relic and the other is a Warmoth light swamp ash with fralin P90s.
This pedal is perfect for light to heavy blues ,country , alt country ,pop and whatever, just not metal is all !
A very unique and usable overdrive with a tone unlike ANY tube screamer clone i have ever heard.

Plug it in, hit the footswitch, and take a trip to guitar heaven. There is versatility and a lot of flexibility here between the LP and HP settings, but you really can't dial a bad sound even if you are confused by more than 2 knobs!

I use a Limited Edition Deluxe Reverb re-issue with a Weber Vintage 12" and high-end rewired innards, and a Dr.Z Maz 38 Sr.(best amp for the dough on the planet!!!) I have a Pedalman TS818 "Tube Screamer" boutique clone, a Klon Centaur, a Vox Clyde wah, TC Chorus, and Hughes and Kettner RotosphereII. I have a 50th anniversary American Deluxe Strat, a Les Paul Standard, an American Standard Telecaster, a Les Paul DC Custom Shop, and a modified 1958 Les Paul Jr. I am anxiously awaiting a Fulltone TTE that will replace my revered Echolplex. This thing is so good that I am seriously considering dumping my pedalboard and using just it and the TTE! I still want the Klon for the best clean boost, though.

Based on the weight and the feel, I could throw it against a wall and still use it!

Mike Fuller responded to an e-mail promptly, briefly, and courtiously - what's the problem? The guy has a life, he's busy workin' hard, and he's tryin' to build enough of these for you people that think that this pedal will make you play better (It does!tone is great motivation to play!)

I play all types of classic and current Rock and some Country. I have played for 36 years and have owned may real deal vintage effects. This thing is unbelievable! It is the first "drive " that really nails every classic tone that you've ever wanted with chime, distinction, and clarity. My other drive pedal sounds like a speaker stuffed with cotton in comparison, and it is top rated! If you plug this in and don't like it, I would seriously question your taste and/or abilities. WOW!!!!

Very easy to use.....just plug and play and noodle the controlsto find ur sound.

Tried with 2 different rigs. 1st thru my 70's Fender Princeton Reverb with a Wah, and thru my Soldano Hot Rod 50+ and full pedal board. Thru the later it is PHAT. Was nailing the Audley Freed tone, very nasty. But thru the Fender rig it was amazing! I heard tones I've never heard before. Mike did his homework on this pedal and it will be legendary........I had been using a VooDoo Labs Sparkle Drive, but took it off my pedal board. The Sparkle Drive isawesome, but compared to the OCD.....just had to go!

Built to last a lifetime. I also own a ChoralFlange and a Clyde Wah Deluxe. These pedals are simply the best out there.....Mike has made me a believer, and he has many touring pros around the world with his fine products. If I could afford to, I'd buy every pedal this guy has ever made..........really!

Blues-based rock....perfect pedal for anything that rocks or has a blues feel. I've played on and off for 35 years. Use a Les Paul Classic, Fender Tele Plus, Jackson DK1, and a GL4T Steinberger along with amps listed above and various pedals. This pedal is essential in a professional rig and anyone obsessed with quality tone. I'd love to have a 2nd, and will after the frenzy subsides. Took me 4 weeks to get after ordering, but feel blessed too have one! This pedal DOES make u better, because u don't want to quit practicing.

This pedal is pretty versatile as far as available tones, especially using the 'HP' and 'LP' switch. Just plug it in and fool with it!

A few months back I owned a Love Pedal COT 50 (Church of Tone) pedal. It is a GREAT pedal but it lacked the ability to adjust the 'volume' with the gain, it only had one knob that increased the volume and gain simultaneously. I loved the pedal but it produced too much volume along with the gain! So, I tried to get a hold of the guy who made it to get it modded with a volume adjustment, couldn't find him so I sold it....Mike Fuller's pedal has all the 'LOVE' of the COT 50 pedal and a lot more. It really sits well in the mix in the 'LP' setting (smooth) and sticks out a bit more when switched to the 'HP' setting (more gain more pronounced highs). The pedal is pretty 'bright' in the sense that it adds a definite 'presence' to the high end in both 'HP' and 'LP' switched settings. I am using this pedal after a Budda wah and Keeley compressor, my amp is a Carr Mercury with an EL34 power tube cranked and saturated, my main guitar is a 54 custom shop Fender strat. This pedal is absolutely quiet even when engaged and the gain cranked! I have excellent gear and it is shielded well, I read about guys getting 'noise' when the pedal is on...I think the problem is with their guitar wiring and pick-ups, pedalboard wiring and probably a noisy amp too...I am using a single coil guitar going into a class A cranked tube amp and this pedal is dead quiet with everything cranked and my hands muting the strings! Really sings when I hit a chord or play a solo! The sound really 'blooms' when the pedal is gained out, it adds fattness as well as a smooth overdriven distortion. This pedal puts my other boutique 'modded' ODs and distortions to shame (modded TS-9s, modded DS-1, fulldrive I and II etc..) when A--B'ing them side by side (no sorry 'mid-hump' or 'squished' frequency response). The switch does not 'pop' or make any noise when engaging and disengaging....BONUS! This pedal is 'as described' on Fuller's website and, in my case, better!!! because I have a superior sounding amp to the amps on his 'samples' (IMHO and arguably..) his OCD pedal sounds better on my amp than it does on any of his samples (even though those sound great too!). Yes, I am an old man (in rocker years) I have been playing guitar for 34 years steady and most of those professionally, and I'm here to tell ya that this pedal is the real deal... easily the best sounding, quietest, versatile, affordable (unless you are getting 'gouged' on ebay) overdrive pedal I've played (and yep, I've played em' all). Kudos to Mike Fuller...

I have owned and operated tons of Fuller's gear, no problems...

This may sound odd, but, the guy has always been kind and helpful to me. I have talked with him (Mike) on the phone on several occasions (late 90s about his 'Choral Flange', TubePlex echo, even custom acoustic guitar stuff etc...) He has been kind and helpful to me no problems or trouble at all (maybe because I'm a kindred guitar tone fiend?). I read and hear about the complaints...Maybe people are calling him and insulting his product or his intelligence and setting him off? Treat him with respect and maybe he will reciprocate?

Music taste is SUBJECTIVE!!!... and just because this pedal works for me doesn't mean that you will like it! It really seems to like EL34 output tubes cranked though! I ordered it (from musictoyz, waited 7 weeks) before I read any 'hype' I was sold on the website description and samples. I am selling my boutique and modded overdrives (I have about half dozen) and buying another OCD to run in tandem or as back-up...I love it!

Very easy to use. Same controls as tubescreamer, Boss, etc. with an additional low/high switch which makes the sound similar to switching between a low wattage and high wattage amp with some minor eq changes done automatically. The eq change isn't dramatic. This thing doesn't have a bad sound in it.

Sound quality is excellent but not all inclusive. Not everyone will want this pedal. It might not be what some heavy metal guys might want, but if you like a tubescreamer with less nasal midrange this is it. I play Gibsons and Fenders through 1960's blackface amps. I've tried many types of distortion pedals and always came back to my tubescreamer (TS808). Now my TS808 is my backup and the OCD is on my pedal board.

Very sturdy. Looks like it was made by people who care about their work. It could probably be swallowed by an eagle and shit over a cliff and still work just fine.

Although I've only had this for a few weeks it works and sounds like I'll probably use it a long time. We play mostly classic rock covers and I really like the sound of this pedal. It's surprisingly quiet for a distortion pedal, excellent sound, and well made. I think these are going to be as popular as the Ibanez 808.

Extremely easy to get a great sound out of this box.
All the controls do what they say they do.

Using this with numerous guitars (Strats, Les Paul, PRS Custom 22, G&L ASAT and Legacy) through a Gries Thirty Five (Fender balckface clone) and Bogner Shiva.
Some noise, but that is to be expected with a gain stomp box. Keep the drive around 2:00 and it is quite manageable.
Originally got this so I could get some warm drive out of my Gries when it is set up for a clean tone. Added bonus is when I kick my Bogner Dirty channel on and turn the OCD on, it give me a sweet singing Marshally sound.

So far no issues, but it is brand new.
Built just like his other effects, sturdy and well-designed.

No need to talk to Fulltone yet.

Other than being very difficult to find right now (got mine from Guitar Adoptions in WI) this is one of the best overdrive/distortion pedals I have heard. I am NOT a big fan of stomp-box distortion, I'd rather get it from a tube amp. BUt to get some grit on a clean tube amp, this box rocks. Plus if you kick it in on a tube amp dirty channel it pushes the sound right into lead territory.
The review in Guitar Player a few months ago was righ on the money.
The blue "on" indicator light can be seen from quite a few feet away so you know it is on.

Well, here's where I have a little different take then others. The OCD sounded fantastic at home, but when I got with my band, it disappeared in the mix. I use old Fender Blackface amps, and these amps don't have a lot of midrange. That's why Tubescreamer style pedals with "mid-humps" (like the Fulldrive II) work so well with them. The OCD seems to have a slightly scooped sound. The bass is boosted, and the mids, even if they're flat, sound scooped. In a band mix, by guitar sounded kind of like white noise, with no presence. No punch. Too much bass, too much highs, no mids.

If you use an amp that is already "mid-rangy", than I think this pedal would work much better. Every other good comment you've heard about the OCD is true. Lots of harmonics. Great clean up.

If Mike put in a mid-boost switch, I would LOVE this thing. As is, it didn't work for me. I sold it already to a friend.

I wish this pedal worked for me, but it doesn't.

Damn easy to get great sounds out of it. It has volume, drive, and tone controls, as well as a HP/LP toggle switch. HP is "british mode Marshall or Vox like" and LP is more transparent like a cranked Blackface or Tweed.


Right out of the box it sounded great at just about any setting. Makes your guitar more expressive and easier to play.

I use fender strats/tele's, gibson lespaul, es335,es175, SG, Rickenbacker 330 etc........

Amps I use are Fender Blackface Twin, Super Reverb, Tweed champ
Marshall half stack, Orange half stack, Vox AC-30.....

I own a lot of pedals too including just about the entire fulltone lineup (will probably buy all their stuff eventually). Also own Keeley moded BOSS SD1, Keeley DS1, TS808, Barber LTD to name a few.


Buy far this is the nicest distortion/oD pedal I've heard. I also won the Fulldrive 2(custom shop) and 69 and 70 and prodistortion.

The sound is hard to describe and is different with each guitar/amp combo. But one thing is that is is very dynamic, it'll make sensitive right hand pick attack or left hand bend and vibrato much more pronounced. This makes it easier to express yourself, and thus makes your guitar easier to play.

Picture it this way. On one extreme is the OCD, on the other is a wah wah with a toe up/heal down mode. The wah wah in this mode makes it very hard to play since it all sounds the same. The OCD is very responsive and quick. Not thick and soupy like the FD2, TS808,SD1 etc......

Don't know what makes it tick. I have to pull it apart and check out the guts, but haven't done that yet.


The FD2 uses the JRC4558 IC like ts808 and SD1.

The 69 uses germanium NKT275 transisters for that classic FUZZ.


The OCD sounds somewhat in between. Like a Marshall tube amp with a solid state diode rectifier that is quick and responsive. Where the FD2 and TS808 sound more like a tube rectified amp slower with a SAG.


I really can't articulate the differences, just buy a whole bunch of stuff and hear the difference yourself.


Reliablility of other Fulltone products is top of the line and I see no reason why this wouldn't be as well.

Mike is a musician first. (Mike Fuller who started/owns/runs fulltone) He actually won 1993 Guitar Player magazine's "Ultimate Guitarist" in the blues catagory.

He is a musician true and blue and that comes through in his products. He stands behind them! with a 5 year warranty!

I play country/blues/rock/classic rock styles of music. This pedal sounds awsome for each genre mentioned. Very SHHHWEEEEEET indeed.

Easy. I tried it out at a music store through a Fender tweed twin reissue. A good amp with a solid clean tone.

Tom Anderson Drop Top T with a single coil at the bridge and a humbucking at the neck. This is a very even and full sounding guitar.
Here's where I dissent from the other reviewers here. I didn't care for it much. Compared to my Reverend Drivetrain pedal it's not as transparent. Sweeter highs and lows with the Drivetrain but the Drivetrain has a little too much compression even with the drive all the way down. That's why I was hoping the OCD would be a better pedal. But overall the OCD has too much of the square wave sound for me, not as bad as the Fulldrive though but still too much. The soundclips on the website sound better than the pedal did in person. Some people (not me)love the Fulldrive so different strokes for different folks. I'm sure it's a better pedal than stock Tube Screamers but not really natural enough to do what I want. I've been on the waiting list for an AnalogMan King of Tone since July so I'll wait for it. I'd say the OCD is about equal to a Tone Bone Classic that I had and sold, also because I still prefered the old Drivetrain.

Didn't buy it but I'm sure it's very well made, like all of the Fulltone products.

No learning curve to speak of, yet this pedal is truly varied and complex in how it treats your guitar signal, but that's for another part of the review...
I will add that the enclosed manual is brief and to the point. It is without fluff but contains all pertinent info.

As another reviewer said, this is indeed, THE Overdrive Pedal. Nothing really comes close to the dynamics, the tone, and overall performance of this pedal. Mike's description and sound clips on his website do a good job in providing orientation -i suggest checking it out (www.fulltone.com). With that said, if you're looking for a pedal that gives you the ability to achieve that cranked up, overdriven amp sound..this is for you. It also excels as a basic boost pedal that doesn't impart any overt coloration to your tone. I wish this thing had come out 10 years ago. At least it's here now i suppose. I have a JCM 800 50w Marshall that has it's own IC chip in it for increased gain. With the OCD i now just plug into the 'Normal' channel using the pedal for extra drive and distortion. The low end boost you get with it switched to "HP" is very full sounding without adding unwanted muddiness. I really can't say enough good things about this pedal. It's also compatible with any qualified 9V to 18V adapter, you aren't instructed to ONLY use a Fulltone adapter. This is the first time i've reviewed a piece of gear and it is because this thing is really in a class of its own.

Just bought it so i can't honestly speak for its reliabilty but the Fulltone reputation is held in quite high regard.

No direct experience with them but based on other feedback, am confident i will be treated will if a problem arises.

After years of using pedals out of necessity rather than desire, i've finally bought one that i feel adds something to my tone. It's always felt like a compromise to use a pedal to achieve extra gain when you can't just turn the amp up full blast, the OCD is the first overdrive box to counter that. I don't mean to suggest that this will suit everyone's tastes and in fact, if you have an amp you're less than enthusiastic about and need a distortion pedal that "covers" some of its shortcomings...you may not hold this thing in such high regard. I have a Line 6 distortion modeler that i play with when i feel like futzing around with super distortion or modern rock sounds...the OCD is what i use when i'm seriously playing.

A no-brainer. Volume, Tone and Drive. It has a switch that adds a bit of volume boost and tone shaping that will giv eyou a British Stack kind of sound, if that's what you're looking for. I use it with this switch off as it brings through the natural tone of whatever guitar you are putting through it. This is pedal number 20, so I guess it's out of his first lot.

Complex set up. Wah -> Aural Exciter -> Klon Centaur -> OCD -> Keely Tube Screamer -> Chorus/Flange -> Tremolo -> Super Hard On -> Marshall TSL 100W (Fulltone Tape Echo on Aux Send)-> Fender ToneMaster 4 x 12 cab. I play guitars I have custom built, a Les Paul, a Strat and a Gretsch Setzer...it depends on the gig. Everything is true bypass and quiet...I don't use a noise gate. The OCD adds very little noise as song as I keep the drive below 12 noon. The pedal gives your tone an EDGE that is similar to a Super Hard On pedal. It improves the clarity, adds harmonics and can give you anything from a clean driven sound to total grunge, all with nice harmonics. I haven't found the adjustment of the volume knob on my guitar that helpful and I tend to avoid that since I think kicking your volume knob down sucks the tone right out of the guitar.

I will say that this is THE best overdrive pedal in terms of pure tone that is out there today, and I own them all. I replaced my Keeley modded Blues Driver with this pedal on my pedalboard...and the Keely pedal is a truly wonderful device. You will love this device.

I've used quite a few Fulltone products over the years and have never had an occasion to complain or replace on in mid-performance. The switches are good quality. I have a large pedal board that is whisper quiet and does not suck tone compared to going direct into the amp, and I think a lot of that is due to Mike's pedals. I keep a cable tester and a backup Overdrive in my roll away case, but I am equally happy to just kick the channel up on the Marshall if I want to guarantee that the police get called to the party.

I have resources to repair anything that I need fixed without having to bother to send them back, but I have never had to fix a Fuller product. I'm using his Wah pedal, Chorus, OCD and Tremolo now and have used two generations of the Fulldrive and have yet to have a problem with any of them. I have purchased directly from Mike and also picked up stuff from other sources. I've never had an issue. My definition of a good business is one that purrs quietly in the background and has consistency. Mike Fuller does a good job. He and Bob Keeley are the only two primary vendors that I would trust to purchase a new product just on their say-so.

I'm a rock and blues guitarist who finally has enough resources to buy whatever he wants. I'm 55 and been playing in front of people since I was 16. I only write reviews when I encounter a product that I really think will help others because it helped me. You will definitely be able to do new things with the OCD that you can't do with a lot of other boutique equipment. Take my word for it.

This is about as simple as it gets for a complex overdrive. The HP/LP switch is a nice feature that allows you to thicken up the low end (HP) or keep the sound of your guitar more natural (LP). Really easy to make radical changes on the fly unlike the Fulldrive 2 which I found required more fine tuning.

Well, you have to trust me on this, I am giving this pedal a critical review here but I honestly can't find a damn thing wrong with it. A 10 I feel is a bit meager but it's the highest option so... It's been a fun weekend trying this thing out. The greatest achievment here is that this pedal does actually give you that cranked amp sound at any volume. Many pedal makers make that claim but few deliver - this one delivers in spades. I really like the versitility this pedal offers. I play many styles from jazz to experimental rock and everything between and I find I can get whatever I want from thick saturation to just a bit of edge AND a nice clean boost if you want too. The OCD also delivers on it's claim that your guitar retains it's original tone. I must mention that the OCD sounds great with humbuckers as well as single coils. IT'S QUIET TOO! WOW!! You know, I don't think you could make this pedal sound bad. In case anybody cares - my setup; 64 strat or Ibanez as-200 into a few choice effects, (OCD being one of them), then to a 64 deluxe reverb or a 1959 Ampeg jet- GREAT recording amp btw. Tone heaven!!!

It's small, heavy for its size, and tough. I'm sure it will make it through my lifetime.

Well I hope I never have to find out if they are helpfull or not. Many people say bad things about Mike Fuller like he's rude or whatever but so long as he honors his warranty I could care less if he's nice.

For guitarists the drive pedal is the most critical part in the pedal chain but also the most challenging spot to fill. I had reached the point where I just decided to do without because every OD I tried, and I've tried too many including the FD2, just sounded like a veneer of distortion on top of the guitar signal. The OCD has got the drive back on the pedal board again though. For me, it's the pedal that I kind of always wished existed somewhere, the pedal that if you want can sound like a cranked Marshall or Vox or tweed deluxe but doesn't change your tone. Mike Fuller has always made quality pedals but I can't say that he's all that original. He's good at taking a classic old pedal and making it better and more reliable, the OCD though, is a true stroke of brilliance. Sorry to be so gushing with praise but.....go try one.

This is one of the easiest, most intuitive pedals, I have ever owned. It is incredibly easy to use and has effectively blown the doors off any pedal I own or ever have owned.

Amazing - seriously this is without a doubt the finest sounding pedal I have owned. I have burned through Tube Screamers, Boss's, EMMA's, Dunlop's, you name it, even Mike's other pedals, like the Full-Drive, 69 and the Soul Bender. It is remarkably rich in tone and depth, it has taken pedals to a new level. Simply volume adjustments along with planned and precise pick attack allow you to shape tones that I have never been able to find. Who are you looking to sound like? What have you been dreaming about in terms of tone..? Grab this pedal and plug it in.. you will find it. I ran mine with a Suhr Strat, to the OCD, through a Fulltone Deja-Vibe 2 into a Rivera Chubster. Unflipping believable... I played well into the night without exhausting the tonal ranges available. There is no noise, hiss or loss, there is onl additive explosions of sound you've never heard. Enough!!! You'll love it.
