Ease of Use : 10
Some great options for foot switching including a depth switch called Hard/Soft, and a rate switch for half speed. Internal adjustments allow fine tuning. Definately over and above the average tremolo unit.

Sound Quality : 10
Quiet, subtle, rich and natural sounding. Certainly as good as a fender amp tremolo. That is when the amp trem works correctly.

Reliability : No Opinion

I have found Fulltone to be first class in supporting me as a working professional.

Overall Rating : 9
I use this effect to create a similar swirling sound to a leslie. I think it's more tastefull than a vibe unit. My personal opinion... I'm some what of a purist blues/jazz guitarist.
Playing 35+years
If I'm not using my 65 Super Reverb, I'm using a Dr Z Maz 18 and the Supa-trem. I have not found a better tremolo pedal for my needs. I would buy it again.
I would recomend Mike Fullers creations to any guitarist seeking high quality effect pedals. No question of the quality. Your opinion sonically may vary.

This trem is very easy to get a great sound out of. The key thing is that the rate knob also has 2 fast/ soft options which give a great range of speeds from which to choose. This coupled with the fact that the knobs are quite large help you to quickly dial in the correct tempo for the song you are playing..this is the major thing with trem in my opinion especially in a live situation. Personally I don't like things at my feet so this sits on top of my amp so I can quickly reach round and adjust if I need too. I play a half stack so it is about the right height. Also key to this is the mix knob...I often find that if you are playing a fast rhythm e.g. Bo Diddley at 140bpm! Too much trem at the wrong speed will just make it a mush...the mix lets you put as much in as you need before the effect takes over the music...and none of us want that! I'm not a huge effect fan but if you want vintage trem sound there's no other way unless your amp has it built in. I have no real use for the hard/soft button which basically turns your sound into a Bell Huey Helicopter but I can imagine that plenty of musicians will use this (probably pretty sparingly)

Sound Quality : 10
Not noisy in any way shape or form..true bypass...I play this into ..here we go...Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique (Classic 57 pups) into a Marshall DSL 100..sometimes with a Boss(Tone Jam Mod) GE7 and a Line 6 Rotomachine for those Leslie sounds (great great pedal by the way!) and have no issues whatsoever. If you want to get trem like on the old fender amps then this is pretty similar folks...Bo Diddley/Creedence it's all here. I have previously used a Boss TR2 with the c4 mod which was...OK...but this is way better, mainly because of the range of speeds it offers and the fact that you have a real ability to mix in how much you want. The BOSS was noisy too but cheap. I can't honestly say that the difference in price is reflected in the sound (it costs twice as much) but if you want the best you pay the money....I'll certainly not part with this , it is a keeper and in the UK these are not easy to find. I have not played it alongside many other effects, only have 3 pedals but it did sound very good going direct into my Boss Micro BR Recorder when recording home demos which should give you an idea of the quality of the materials it is made with.

Reliability : 10
Well it is built like a tank..I'm pretty sure it'll hold out. I'd gig without a backup...in fact I have never had backup pedals...amps maybe..but if you can't stand up there and just plug in and play to play your music to people you need to have a bit of a rethink on what you are doing...it is just there to embellish the song...

I bought this secondhand off ebay so have had no dealings with them

Overall Rating : 9
I play blues/ rnb/ soul with my band The Stumble www the stumble dot com and we play the blues/ festival circuit all over the UK and Ireland. Been playing 20 years. For the vintage trem vibe this is the one (unless you've got some old brown deluxes knocking about...hasn't Keef bought them all? I'd buy another if stolen straight away...way better than the Boss TR2...I love the fact that it is so simple to get the sound you want at the tempo and mix you want..that's the key thing in my opinion in a live situation. This helps me make music, if it was a barrier I'd get rid straight away. Highly recommended..if you want the old trem sound and if you have the cash bite the bullet and get it.

Very, very easy to use, and its sound is fundamentally good. Rate, as you might imagine, controls the rate of the tremolo effect. Mix functions as an effect level control (not that with Mix at 0, there is still audible tremolo).

The hard/soft button toggles between two tremolo modes. In the hard mode, the pedal, the mix control is deactivated, and the pedal functions something like a square wave LFO modulating volume and set 100%. I don't find that effect terribly useful, especiallu since this old school, handcrafted analog pedal offers no tempo sync...

Soft mode is a much smoother slop, and this is where you will find your sweet spot. Even set in to smooth, the tremolo curve can sometimes still sound pretty steep, even with mix set very low.

And voila, that's there the internal adjustable pot comes in--it allows you to tweak the slope of the tremolo. By default, mine was set roughly before mid, which was good news. It gave me plenty of room to flatten the slope to make even more subtle. In fact, turned all the way down, it was TOO subtle for my tastes.

The other internal pot sets output level.

Then Speed button (doubles (or halves) the current rate. Really neat. I almost wish it had more subdvisisions!

Sound Quality : 9
It is a rich, immediately useful effect. It is tweakable enough that you can really view as more than a occasional "vibey" thing. Set low (and I mean the internal smooth pot as well as the rate) it is almost an effect you can use like typicaly utilitarian ambience and texture--leave it on all night!

It sounds...creamy and rich.

I'm in the early stages of a fx expansion phase. My current setup is strat plus/frankenTele-->Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive--Supa Trem-->Boss RV 5-->either Mesa/Boogie Studio. 22+ or a bassman head through a Booige 1 12" cab

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems very solidly built. Heavy, handcrafted feel. Innards look good too, though I'm no expert

I play somehwat intricate original quirky pop rock, in the lineage of Beatles through the spectrum of Kinks, XTC, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits Randy Newman, Elliot Smith, etc. I am the "tricky bits" guitarist in my current band, but I've never used many effects, playing for many years with only a Rat, and for many years with not even that. Now I want to expand my textural pallette.

I suffered from almost immediate buyer's remorse after purchasing the Supa Trem. NEVER because the pedal sounded bad--just that, given your limited budget for sonic pallette expansion, are you sure it was a good move to drop 200 on tremolo? Well, as I suggested above, I believe this pedal is so essentially good and flexible that it can be used not just as an occasional "vintage reference" effect but as integral part of a core sound. But I've only had it two+ weeks and haven't gigged with it yet, so I could be wrong.

I now judge an instrument/effect not by the number of features and knobs, but on whether it has a "smile" knob--the knob that makes you smile when you turn it. This pedal has a big smile button right in the center. It is wholesome and good. Usefullness and value TBD.

Two big black knobs for rate (speed) and mix (depth) control.
Three switches, on/off , waveform (chop or vintage), and half/full speed control.

Notice : there are 2 trim pot inside the pedal to boost the volume of the unit (very useful if you don't want your tremolo to sound tiny) and a "more intense" feel on the soft setting.

pretty cool !

You can set this thing as you want or need to !

from vintage tremolo very sweet and soft to an amazing chopping sound and everything in between...

It's the perfect tremolo for every style of playing !

super easy to get a sound. just like an old fender amp. the way it was. the way it should be. the way it is if you fucking use one of these. but you know what? this box is not so easy for other fuckers to use because I took the labels off. it's just a silver box now. but I know, so fuck off.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
it sounds ok. though not as nice as an old fender amp. so get an old fender amp. but if you don't have one.. if you have a nice old marshall instead, like me, and you have to play with vibrato live for some reason, or for a special recording application, well then by gum, then yes it's good enough. all optical with that bulb shape of the envelope, though maybe a little hissy. but then again, mine is the first production model or maybe even a prototype. In any case, it is serial number 0001. Seriously. I'm not kidding. I got it years and years ago from a music store back East, maybe in Boston. it was brand new. It had decals for functional labels which I tore off, not the silk screened production labels like now. anyway, it's gotta be collectible but so what. It's a nice little device and it's mine.

Reliability : 10
it never did anything but exactly what it was supposed to do. I've only use it a few times though.

Customer Support : 10
no idea, but I have the feeling they would do something rather extraordinary to my genitalia if they knew I had this.

Overall Rating : 9
sometimes I play a thing that needs this. this thing does it right, except compared with a real amplifier with a "vibrato" circuit.

I've been playing for 30 years, own a 69 marshall super lead and some reissue jazzmasters. some modified delays.

it's not replaceable, except I guess I would use my fender amp if someone stole it.

I love that it's the first one and that I don't really care and that it's clearly handmade and cool

never thought about other products - got it on a whim

I wish that women cared about it, but they don't. so it's a goddamned 9

I rarely ever use it. last time I used it was on an acoustic guitar signal. acoustic guitar with trem.. it was rad.

I've been through many trems - boss, voodoo lab, george dennis, wiggler, and I even had a supa-trem many years ago that I foolishly sold. Well, I re-bought this and couldn't be happier. It's very easy to get a great sound out of it. Although when I got it from a deal on ebay - the internal trimmer wasn't set to may liking - not smooth enough. So I opened up the box and turned the knob a bit and was in trem heaven. Since then this pedal is just great. Love it. better than any of the other pedals out there

Sound Quality : 10
Running it with a strat into a fender amp with some tasty reverb, this thing is butter. Not noisy at all, true bypass, doesn't suck tone when off. It's one of my staple sounds. Regarding some of the negative reviews on this site, I would say that they probably didn't open up the case and adjust it for their own taste.

Compared with the boss tr2 - which has a terrible drop in volume and even with the C4 mod, it sounds totally lifeless compared with the supa trem.

Compared with the Wiggler - which is a great pedal btw, the supa-trem is much much less noisy and doesn't take up a whole chunk of pedalboard real estate. The supa-trem doesn't have all the extra sounds the wiggler does though

Compared with the voodoo labs trem. Man, I wanted to like the voodoo labs pedal. I bought it and it just seems a bit 'cheap' to me, and the sound was not as smooth - the slope knob didn't seem to do anything to make it smoother. I could've recieved a bunk one to be fair. When you pick up the supa-trem you know this is a quality pedal that will last years

Haven't tried the demeter, swamp thang, or the diaz - I hear those are good too

Reliability : 10
Fulltone pedals are very reliable. I have had great luck with them.

Always had good responses from the fulltone folks. I try to make my questions brief and to the point and not ask stupid questions

Overall Rating : 10
Love this pedal, the best trem I've ever played through. It's a keeper for me. I play surfy-cramps style stuff all the way to indie rock. I need pedals that are versatile and well-built. I don't mind paying more for a pedal that I will own a long time. I've been through a lot of pedals that promised the world and didn't deliver. For me, this pedal delivers big time.

The controls are simple, but the three footswitches on such a small pedal is rediculous. I can't imagine using the side footswitches in a live situation unless you wear a size 4 shoe. Poor ergonomics.

Sound Quality : 6
I've tried just about every stompbox tremolo on the market, and this is one of the worst. It doesn't really sound bad, but it sounds lifeless and sterile. The Voodoo Lab is a better choice and much cheaper. The Demeter is the best sounding I've heard at about the same price. The Fulltone Supa Trem sounds like a Boss pedal, no personality.

Reliability : 9

Fulltone has the worst customer service If you are Eric Johnson, they'll kiss your ass. If you're not a pro, they will treat you as if you are an idiot.

Fulltone has a few good products, and many mediocre sounding ones. The Soul Bender is a great fuzz pedal, but many of their pedals have a generic, Boss sound, such as this uninspiring pedal.

Simple! Effective!(pardon the pun) This is the kind of tremelo that almost induces the gag or vmoit reflex to everyone in the room when it is on and chiming through a loud amp.

I use Les Pauls and Strats with this Pulsating wonder.
Very quiet; like all of the Fulltone effects.

Everyone seems to be kissing Mike Fuller's ass in this review area. The guy is a egomanic, and bithcy. He does make a great product. Other than that, I would rather not know him personally. He has been a complete jackass to several of my friends and the "e-mail of the day" on his website just proves his obvious level of immaturity. How easy is it to get a good sound out of it?

That's pretty subjective. It IS easy to tweak, it is
just a matter of tastes how good the sound it.

The manual is short, but there is more than enough info to
be able to help you tweak it to taste. In the newer models there
is a pot inside that lets you adjust if the volume increases, decreases, or is at unity when the pedal is on. The pedal I am reviewing (I bought it used) did not have that addition.

Sound Quality : 6
It may be that I too picky with trems. I have gone through a few, didn't like the Demeter at all. I used to own a Gibson Starfire with a built in trem (tube) and I loved it...but it's been years since I last played through it.

That said, as I mentioned, my Supra trem didn't have the adjustable pot for volume when on. I didn't mind though, as I think it is just right that a pedal like a trem "seems" to lose volume even at unity..because you are hearing notes fade in and out.

I liked the pedal, but in the end it wasn't for me. This is subjective, but I had no use for the "chop" sound, which I know a lot of folks actually want...can be a great effect it was just too choppy for my kind of music (I play mostly blues and was looking for the "swamp blues" kinda sound) but the other mode was good. You have a lot of control among other things the mix helped a lot...I tended to mix it down so it was less obvious.

Still, for me this pedal wasn't what I "it". On the other hand, it was easy to sell, and though the guy I sold it to was a little hesitant when I told him it didn't have the volume adjust pot, he decided to take a chance, here in Norway when you sell something, the buyer (even private sales) has two weeks to return it no questions asked. I sent it to him, he got back to me and LOVED it, it was exactly what he was looking for, and he kept it. He said it turned out he thought it sounded just right with that little volume boost when on. Keep in mind, this is now (for some time I think) adjustable on the supra-trem.

It was a handy little box. Size was good, ruggedly built.

It just wasn't for me.

Reliability : No Opinion
It is really hard to judge these things until you've owned it for years. It seems rugged, sturdy. If I still owned it I wouldn't feel like I HAD to have a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have only had one exchange of email with the maker about a different pedal (that I really enjoy and still use) and enough has been said in others posts I think, except I think tempramental folk can get a really bad rap. I had one email that seemed kinda rude, but as soon as we got past that, I got suggestions and help. This was only a "best use" issue, not any problem with the pedal itself.

Not all pedal makers are even available for email, so that is another thing to keep in mind. Personal opinion, I think Mike could save himself a lot of grief if he got someone to write up his manuals with more hints, useful tips, etc. Maybe too much overhead though, or maybe there too many folks that pride themselves on not reading manuals...so that might not help either.

Overall Rating : 6
It wasn't what I was looking for, but I am not knocking the pedal. I especially liked the normal/double speed switch. That was a good idea...I know a lot of times you get it where you want it but it is missing something, often the solution was to hit that and either halve the current setting or double it....I noticed that really could do the trick sometimes.

It's as good or better than most of the other pedals I tried. I still kept my Nobels TR-X, which so far is the one I can tweak best to what I want, but the Nobels feels LOTS flimsier, and it adds more noise than the Supra-trem did. Also I don't think I could get enough for it, whereas the Supra-Trem seems to hold its' resale value. I sold it for a few hundred kroner less than I paid for it, and may have broken even if I had waited for other buyers.

It beats the Demeter trem pedal for my taste. The guy I sold it to thinks it is great!

Supa easy Supa Trem! Two knobs and three switches. Three LED's indicate various functions. Input and output jacks as well as a power jack.

Sound Quality : 10
The best pedal tremelo that I've ever heard. Completely old school fender amp like but with even more flexibility. The two big knobs allow you to make adjustments on the fly for the rate (speed) of the effect and the mix level. You also have a switch that will allow you to cut your rate of effect in half so you instantly have two variations of the tempo from the rate knob. There's also a hard/soft switch that's very useful if you prefer a more modern choppy type of tremelo. I love this! No matter where your settings are, the pedal sounds amazing!

Reliability : 10
Built so well. Just holding it in your hand will answer this question. Fulltone has great attention to detail and this pedal is no exception. The wiring is flawless and everything is solid beyond compare.

Customer Support : 9
Mike Fuller gets right to the point. I've never had a problem with him. I know some people complain that he's rude. I've never experienced this from my dealings with him.

Overall Rating : 10
The best tremelo I've ever used. I have no desire to find something else. Nothing else will do at this point. This pedal will not dissapoint. If you desire a great sounding tremelo with lots of options, look no further. AWESOME!

Ease of Use : 7
(I give fair numerical ratings, not just jumping to 10 as a default - 5 is AVERAGE, 7 is GOOD, 9 is STUPENDOUS, 10 is BEST IN ITS CLASS)

9v Battery-able (lasts not long, but not too short - no where near as bad as a digital delay)
In, Out, 9vDC in jacks
Rate and Mix Knobs
On/Off, Speed (with blinking LED), and Hard/Soft footswitches
Internal trim-pot bias (i think) adjustment for Soft mode

This trem is easy to use, but slightly less intuitive than other units. It would be nice if it had a traditional depth knob in addition to the hard/soft switch. I find the Mix knob slightly counter-intuitive, since i like a very strong tremelo effect when it is on. The internal adjustment for the Soft mode is very useful for tweaking that mode - i increased it until it was a very promonent effect.

The effect's size is actually quite annoying. It is very wide, but not very deep, with three switches that are hard to make accessable in a pedalboard arrangement. They aren't too close together on the unit itself, but the Speed and Hard/Soft modes are so close to the edges that you have to set the unit at least 3/4" (2cm) or so away from the nearest other effect in so that they are still toe-accessable.

It is those switches that make this a great live effect, though. Being able to switch tempo and depth of effect on-the-fly live keeps me from having to bend down and tweak away at knobs between songs. Also, the two external knobs are very large, and easy to move with your feet. This is both a blessing and a curse, because they are also very easy to accidentally knock in the middle of a song as you go to turn on another effect, or to turn while hitting one of the Supa-Trem's own footswitches. This once again has to do with it being such a SHALLOW effect (size wise), the knobs being too close to the switches. That or i have big feet.

Overall, ease of use in setting the trem for a sound is around average for a high-quality trem pedal. Ease of use in a live enviroment is much higher, becuase of the on-the-fly ability to change the depth and speed of the trem. But the placement of the knobs and switches are such that it is very easy to mess up a setting inadvertantly. So therefore i give it a 7 in ease of use, my ABOVE AVERAGE.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a bunch of different styles of music, and use a fair amount of effects, but tend to go for "classic-sounding" tones that are entirely my own, using mainly "boutique" modern equipment. My main setup is either an American Re-issue Jazzmaster or a PRS Hollowbody Spruce (with Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups and a piezo that I send through a DI to the PA) into a complicated set of effects into either a Bad Cat Black Cat 30r combo or a THD Flexi 50 head. My effects are, in order (at least the day I wrote this):

Fulltone Clyde Wah->Foxrox Captain Coconut 2 Octave(->)Fuzzfoot->Analog.man mini-Bicomprosser->Fulltone Fulldrive 2->Skreddypedals Zero->Analog.man Clone Chorus->CC2 Provibe->Foxrox Paradox TZF->Fulltone SUPA-TREM->Analog.man modified Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man

As you may be able to see, I love modulation effects. I play mostly semi-chordal rhythm stuff, and melodic lead stuff, sometimes going so far as to do J.Mascis-tinged major scale soloing. The various modulations and flavors of dirt i have let me get a massive variety of tones to do many things with.

My idea of the ideal trem sound is, well, my own, but tends more toward the sounds on later Luna albums, or the arpeigiated rhythm in Radiohead's Creep. The Supa-Trem nails both. It will also let me get a machine-gun studder a'la the Smith's "How Soon is Now" - though NOTHING can truly duplicate that song.

With some tweaking the Supa-Trem can get just about any trem sound i can think of. It is crystal-clear in sound, too - when the effect is very light, you can't even tell it is on without very careful observation. It is not noisy at all at any setting i have tried.

I think overall it deserves a 9. It gives a superb tremelo sound - but it isn't QUITE as good as an old Fender Amp's, and there are several other boutique trems that sound as good or better.

Reliability : 9
All the fulltone stuff is really reliable, but pretty $$$. I am more than willing to put money into a quality product, and Fulltone generally comes through (though the CF-1... leaves something really major to be desired. See my review of it for details). And they are all reliable.

Mike Fuller is not building nearly as much for the novice as he is for the experienced "Weekend Warriors" and pro musicians. These are the people who really depend on reliable stuff - and his stuff always delivers.

Yes, I DO depend on this unit. Which isn't to say I have no backup plan - Guitar-cord-Amp is always an option. But i have no qualms gigging with it without a backup, and do gig with it with no backup.

I almost never give 10s for reliability, and this is no exception; any analog equipment can fail, and footswitches can always be an issue. This is as solid as reasonably possible. It is not absolutely reliable, but it is as reliable as any effect like it could be. Therefore the 9.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never dealt with them. Heard good and bad, but most of the bad makes me think that people don't like being treated like people. I've never heard of him refusing a fix, or being truly unhelpful. But like I said, i have no personal experience.

Overall Rating : 8
I play a bit of a lot, from heavy blues-rock to ambient post-rock to almost country to pretty straightforeward Rock to raunchy jazz. I use the Supa in many situations, but mainly in ambient pasages or in country songs, or as a true "effect" in the not-at-all-subtle sense to create machine-gun stutter or harsh on-off-on-offs.

I have been playing a bit over 6 years, and have oned a rediculous amount of gear. As far as other trems go, though, I once had a Voodoo Labs trem that I cound never get along with. No others. I tend to do a lot of research/testing when dropping $$$ on pedals, and therefore aren't disappointed all too often.

If it were stolen or lost, I would probably buy another one, but there are a few other trems I would consider as well, like the 4ms.

I would like to believe it helps me make music, but for the most part it is pretty transparent as far as my effects go. In other words, I barely notice it is there unless it is needed.

Overall, i think the Supa-Trem is a very good pedal. It does as advertised. It is by no means perfect, though. The control arrangement bugs me, and the lack of a true depth control is slightly annoying. I give it a solid 8.

More user control right at your feet than any other trem I'm aware of. There are a couple internal adjustments as well. It only gets the perfect score because it's designed with big fat rotary knobs that you can adjust with your foot for trem speed and wet/dry mix. Better than all others here.

Primarily play: custom Guilford w/ Fralin humbuckers; G&L ASAT Tele; Danelectro 6/6 doubleneck baritone guitar through a TopHat King Royale 2x12 combo. Primary Music Genres: alt/cty > pop cty, roots rock > funk > pop rock.

Noise: least amout possible w/ true bypass
Tonal coloration: transparent as a pedal can be. I differ with other reviews, no eq boosting or coloration detectable
Variables: Mike has found a way to do it better than everyone else, so he made the pedal and we benefit. There is a wider span of tremelo applications available at your foot than any other trem pedal I've seen. There is a dedicated hard/soft switch that I personally don't find too useable, so I just opt not to use it. fulltone.com has audio samples
Side notes: it is worthy to mention that there is no "click" with this tremelo, which seems to be the thing that always pisses me off about trems, particularly for recording applications

Reliability : 10
Solid box, like most boutique pedal makers today.
The brownie points come with the distinct feel in your foot of the switch going from "on" to "off".
What's with the back-ups? I don't cart, carry or gig with a back-up on any pedal. Worst thing that can happen is I plug my guitar into an amp. If that's a problem, then you have bigger issues than a dead pedal.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Sorry, no first hand experience here, but to Mike's testament, I've got colleagues that have dealt direct with him and it's all good.

Overall Rating : 10
I would replace it with the same if it were ever necessary. I did my homework here and am rather pickey about circuitry, quirks and tonal integrity and I am very comfortable with my choice. I cannot think of anything else I would ever wish for in a tremelo pedal, in fact Mike thought of things I didn't, so he raised the bar for everyone else. At the present, you won't find a better choice for a dedicated tremelo pedal. I can confidently endorse this product.

The manual describes two internal trimmers and other subtleties. Fulltone manuals aren't as technical as I'd wish, but they offer practical insights.

I love the way the dials are so wide because they help me to dial in minute adjustments. Compared to other tremolos I've used, the knobs are sensitive and increase their respective effects in direct proportion to the degree with which they are rotated. Sounds simple, but it isn't always the case on other manufacturers' trem pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
Pristine sound. The abrupt, rapid shudder at its most extreme is matched by the gentleness with which it fades away in the lighter settings.

I never turn this pedal off. The settings can be set low enough that the effect goes unnoticed, while the pedal provides an inherent treble boost.

So far, so good.

I appreciate the work that went into this design. For something as simple as tremolo, this pulls out all the stops. I've tried expensive trems that produce no particularly useful sounds, whereas this is always on.

The unit is very self explanatory. I don't like equipment that needs a manual. Three switches, Two knobs. The half time switch is really useful, just drop to half speed tremelo with the switch of a button. The speed led is really useful too.

Sound Quality : 9
This pedal has very good sound quality. No noise really. Only weird thing is that if your amp makes noise, like white static noise, this pedal will tremelo it. So realize this box is made for premium gear. It is expecting you to have a quiet setup.

My setup is: American Standard Tele -> Fulltone Supatrem -> Sparkle Drive -> DLS Echo Tap -> Laney VC30 (class A valve combo)

Reliability : 10
People always say, "built like a tank". This thing lives up to abuse. Mine was a Guitar Center floor model! You can't get more abuse than that. I got a good price on it and figured I might have to have it serviced. Not so! Used it for a year so far, and no problems. Really a quality box.

I play modern rock with a space rock twinge. Playing for 15 years. If I lost this pedal I would get another one. You can't beat solid gear. I have used several tremelo amps and this sucker is as good or better than all of them. Plus it is WAY more versatile. Get it, you'll dig it.

The Supa Trem is about as basic as it gets.
Two Knobs: Speed and Mix.
On/Off switch, and a Half Speed switch which doubles the speed of the Tremelo without losing a beat. Also there is a hard/soft switch for more smooth traditional sounding tremelo, or more aggressive machine gun tremelo.
There is an internal trimmer to tune the sound of the tremelo if you'd like, but i haven't used it as i think the pedal sounds great the way it is.

Sound Quality : 9
The tremelo is very, very nice sounding. Also, it is very quiet, no hiss at all.
It definetely has a vintage fender tremelo vibe. It sounds pretty damn close to the old Vibro Champ amps and Tremolux's etc.
I use the Supa Trem with a Bad Cat Cub 2 amp, and the pedal just shines with it, very 3-D sounding. Before i had the Bad Cat, i played the Supa Trem through a Solid State amp, and it still sounded great.
Before i bought the pedal, i considered getting the Diaz Tremodillo, but it wasn't true bypass, and it was cheaper and more convenient to get the Supa Trem as i worked for Guitar Center at the time. I hear the Diaz is more psychadelic sounding, but i am very happy with the Supa Trem. The half Speed switch is cool, it doubles the speed, or cuts it in half, and is pretty useful. The hard/soft switch is also a nice touch, and just adds to the versatility. When on hard, you get that square wave machine gun like tremelo which is very cool. I dont give the pedal a 10 just because there could always be a better pedal out there like the Lovetone Wobulator which i would LOVE to have but, unfortunetely is no longer made. However, for a more traditional tremelo, this pedal really nails it. It almost sounds like the tremelo is built into the amp. Very impressive.

Reliability : 10
I have had the Supa Trem for a couple years now, and NO problems.
It is True Bypass, and built solid.
I used it in a studio session and some jam sessions and it performed flawlessly.
I have no qualms using it without a back up. Besides, i think it to be a waste of money to have a back up for each pedal you own. Amps are another story, but pedals? Maybe if it's a vintage pedal. Anyway, i am very confident in this pedal, and with my experience, it has been very dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never dealt with Fulltone, so i can't really comment on this.
I have heard good and bad things, so who knows.
You can't please everyone anyway, and for the most part these pedal makers are very busy and just might come off as abrupt or rude, so give 'em a break.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, i'd have to give the pedal a 10 just because of the build quality, and the versatility and the fact i have had no problems with the pedal. I know i gave the sound quality a 9, but adding up all these factors, i have to give it a 10 overall. So there you go.

Very easy to use. A no-nonsense kind of tremolo pedal.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Mexican Strat through a Blues Junior. No noise whatsoever from this pedal. Sounds excellent, it does not change the tone of the signal at all, just like a tremolo pedal should behave. The Supa Trem has a wide, constant range of speeds to set it to. I enjoy using this pedal with chorus and some reverb, gives that nice low-fi, playing in a Quentin Tarantino movie kind of feel.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't tour or play with a band or anything like that, so it won't go through any bumps or bruises. But it looks to be solidly built. Should more than hold up just sitting on my floor.

Have not dealt with them. I bought this pedal used off eBay for $160, hell of a deal considering it sells for about $200 new.

I play anything from classical to punk. But I don't play country or metal (some rockabilly though). I'm only so-so, playing off and on for about 8 years. I did a lot of research before buying this tremolo pedal, and it was hard finding one in a shop that I could play. So I felt like I was taking a big chance by getting this pedal ($160 is a lot for a student). I'm glad I did, it was worth every penny. This pedal beats every other trem pedal with ease.

Pretty easy to use, though because mine is Serial#00001 (no shit!), it had no labels so at first I had to figure out what the controls did. Sometimes, if I haven't used it for a while and I've forgotten, I have to re-learn what they are.

Also probably because mine is such a weird handmade version it doesn't have the big knobs, so I can't really manipulate it with my feet like you can with the regular production versions. That's a cool idea.

Mine is in a plain aluminum housing. Same size as the production models, but unpainted and there are no labels. There's a sticker on the bottom that says Fulltone and it looks like it's signed by some people. Then there's another clear sticker that says Serial#0001.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this with Jazzmaster guitars and a '69 Marshall Super Lead 100W amp. I got it because I used to be a Fender guy and so I was used to being able to get that nice tremelo sometimes, which my Marshall doesn't have. This box has a very amp-like quality because, as I understand it, it uses a photo cell like the old amp designs. It's a glorious sound.

I don't use the "soft" tremelo setting. It just doesn't work for me. Too subtle. I like to use the "hard" setting, which feels very much like a Fender amp. There's also a button that seems to double or halve the frequency of the modulation. That's cool to have too.

Mine is slightly noisy / hissy. Nothing horrible, but you know when it's on.

Reliability : 6
It's a little unpredictable, or maybe my reaction to it is, so I don't really rely on it. Luckily, trem isn't a real integral thing for me anyways.

I play loud & sonic song-oriented stuff. http://www.richardbitch.com This thing is a great match for me because I'm into vintage gear and totally off the hook super loud vintage tones. Also, I totally dig the cachet of owning the prototype version. YOU GUYS ARE JEALOUS, HUH!!

I wish it didn't have the hard/soft switch. I only like the hard setting, and sometimes I step on the damn thing by accident.

I don't remember explicitly comparing this to anything else, though I'm sure I did. I can't imagine another pedal sounding as good as this. Only an amp would rival it.

I might not replace it if it were lost b/c I don't have that much of a boner for tremelo. ANYONE WANNA TRADE IT STRAIGHT FOR A BOSS VB-2??? Now, vibrato I could use.

Kick it on and go. You have so much control over the Trem it might take an hour to get your vibe down. But when you do - this is just great. Going from a slow the fast speed setting on the fly is a great feature. The speed change is super tight tempo wise. The Big Knobs are a blessing as well. Only buy this pedal with the Big Knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing throbs like the trem on my Vibrolux Reverb. I bought it to record a couple of parts on my Lastest CD and found myself really just loving using the Trem effect period. I am pretty much a straight forward player- I had the Dunlop Pedal (TS-1) I think ,and It is a toy compared to this. It seems like the Super Trem adds just the Slightest bit of compression to the sound to really make it sing. Bottom line is its great.

If you have read any of my other reviews on Mike's Stuff you know that I am very big fan of Fulltone Effects. It may seem a bit over the top - but when you find a product that delivers time and time again - it's easy to give high marks. Especially considering that so much gear out there just plain sucks. The super Trem is the last word in Trem - it is indeed super.

..more than the average tremelo pedal!- so you need to work at it to get the best sounds. A good few people suggest that Fulltone pedals are 'plug and play'; I don't buy this, and I would guess that Mike Fuller doesn't either. This pedal is musical, in the best sense, and you need time with it. The interplay between the controls is important, and the wet to dry quotient especially powerful. There is also hefty compression offered through the Supa-Trem, so the effect is one which truly transforms your guitar - although oddly, you don't perceive it as treading on the basic tone of the instrument. The manual doesn't really guide you in any tonal direction, but equally it makes it very clear which knob/button does what. This is basically as complex as a pedal for this sound should get, and is very intuitive once you've cuddled up to it. The soft/hard option doesn't appeal to me (soft is better to my ears), but the full/half speed button is v. clever indeed.

Sound Quality : 10
I use the Supa-Trem with Warmoth Telecasters (one a baby blue hollow body with the delete f-hole option, the other a '52-ish butterscotch job), a Heritage Les Paul, and a Yamaha 604W with Joe Barden pickups. They all sound stunning through this pedal, which is remarkably quiet. The effect is usually routed through a Hiwatt Custom 20 combo with twin Fane 10" speakers, although I also use a borrowed Fender SuperChamp; my preference is for no frills amps with no onboard effects, so that I can add in the best ones I can afford. The full chain is a Fulltone Fulldrive 2, the Supa-Trem, and a Holy Grail. The last is a tad noisy, but I can't spring $1000 for Mike Fuller's new tape echo yet. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this setup, and cannot conceive of adding anything to it. The tremelo is the last link (although maybe a volume pedal would be handy for those Buchanan swells...)and give further real body to an already meaty setup.

Reliability : 10
I sense that these pedals are built to last. My Fulldrive is tanklike, and getting this one out of the box was instructive. It sits in the hand like a bar of bullion. Take it to the gig without backup? Sure; just remember to tote some batteries. If you don't do this, you're not being professional...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with the company, but they have an engaging website which suggests a confidence in their products - and the ability (and will) to address problems, should any arise.

Overall Rating : 10
I play modern country, r'n'b, and a little faux jazz. This pedal sold itself to me from the sound bites on Fulltone's site; then all I had to do was wait and find the right pedal at the right price on eBay! I have been playing 30 years, and no longer buy anything unless it sounds right, however strong its image is. When I was younger and angrier, my sound ws poor, my attitude amusingly OK. Now I think tone, tone, tone; so apparently does Fulltone, so I must say for this guitarist, they are the right company at the right time. The Supa-Trem enhances what I do, gives me musical ideas, and works in that narrow band of tonality which I perceive as pleasing. I would replace it if heisted - but not at English prices. I have bought both my Fulltone pedals either in or from the USA - and they're not cheap there! But if you want the best (as the cliche runs) - here it is...

Very easy to use, very large knobs for on stage tweaking with feet. Although I haven't foot tweaked yet I've owned it for six months and favor the unit's straightforwardness in terms having two knobs, and further still two switches to affect the trem quality. One switch practically doubles the speed if you engage it and the other increases the intensity of the trem if that's what you require. Very practical in a live setting, which I think was the intent. A detailed manual was included.

Sound Quality : 10
I use vintage Marshall amps and vintage Fender guitars. There is no inherent noise in this unit. The effect is analog, so instead of digital processes this one uses a very organic sounding photo strobe internally which gives it a vintage sound and feel. Although some out there actually prefer the more metallic sounding digital trems out there, this thing sounds as big as the original signal from a guitar direct into an amp. You can vary the mix so it affects the signal in a subtle way or flat out stuttering, zero guitar between repeats extremism. I can easily replicate the trem sounds inherent in any vintage amp with tremolo, old Fenders etc... This is better in my opinion because you can combine it with any amp you like.

Reliability : 9
I have heard about the stomp switches (based on the true bypass idea)being temperamental and occasionally quitting but so far, so good. The double and triple pull and throw switches are the Carling type, or maybe actual Carling (the double pull/throws anyway), and have had a bad track record recently, since production moved from the U.S. to Mexico to cut costs. Don't quote me on the Fulltone : Carling connection because they may very well build their own switches, but the button stomps do have a reputation to be problematic. But as I mentioned, mine's a go. I also own the Fat Boost, Fulldrive 2, and the ChoralFlange as well which are all Fulltone products and function perfectly. I had a Danelectro Tuna Melt as a backup but I gave it way a little while back.

Customer Support : 10
Have dealt with them once because it took three months to get mine. It was back ordered through a dealer in Canada. After three months I got antsy and contacted them (via email) to see if they had a shipment on the way to the store any time soon. They responded quickly and kindly let me know that it was leaving for Canada soon. No mass production here, they build them by hand one at a time.

Overall Rating : 9
I play rock, jazz, blues. This functions really well in my setup (of course it does, it's all fulltone stuff). Actually my pedal board has a Maxon AD-900 analog delay and Boss TU-2 as well which is the only Boss pedal I allow in my rig. It's expensive so if anything happened to it, stolen or otherwise I guess I'm stuck for awhile.

I literally payed for all that stuff by trading an enormous amount of pedal gear mostly unused (lots of Boss stuff) for the new stuff in my board. I'll tell you, this pedal is at the top of the food chain based on not only the sound but on the construction. I've sat and compared with others for weeks actually. The only pedal that came close was the Voodoo Labs trem, which is a ticking time bomb because of the construction, the bypass switch is integrated right on top of the circuit board inside, which can and will weaken over time. Additionally the one I inspected curiously only had a double pull/throw switch. That pedal has an LED so it needs a Triple to be true bypassing (you can't bypass to the LED terminals). So, I mean for the cost of the Supa-Trem it should almost double as a reverb for the cash. But for the sheer quality I haven't seen or heard anything better yet.

Its very easy to get a great sound from this pedal. The large knobs allow for quick and easy adjustments. I like the hard/soft switch which allows for tremolo sounds ranging from a gentle sine wave to a hard choppy stutter. The pulsating LED is a nice feature also.

True bypass at its best!
I tried several other tremolo pedals before deciding on this one. The most notable feature this pedal did not have was the annoying ever present ticking or swooshing sound that plagued other tremolos. This pedal is not noisy at all and allowed every bit of my strat's character to come shining through my Traynor YCV-80 amp. The tremolo sound is clear and very pronounced. No tone drain or coloration was present either. In my opinion, its a damn good rival for the Fender tube tremolo. I have been playing over 20 years and I am very accustomed to the Fender tremolo, but I'll take the "Pepsi Challenge" with any Fender tube tremolo freak anytime with this pedal!

I have the newer model with the real nice BIG ASS KNOBS. This makes tweaking real smooth even with your toes. I'd like to see some sort of calibrated scale on the rate knob to make make tempo specific settings easier, but I'm starting to get a pretty good feel for it, and the pulsing LED comes in very handy here. When switching between hard/soft you generally will need to change mix settings, but this is something you get used to and would rarely need to do on the fly.

Sound Quality : 9
My main guitar is an American Deluxe Strat with Bill Lawrence 280s, but I have used an assortment of both single-coil and humbucker equipped guitars with the Supa-Trem and they all worked well. I am currently running the Supa-Trem in the loop of my Rivera Quiana 212, but it works very well in front of the amp as well. Like many owners of this pedal, I like to take advantage of the very slight boost this pedal has and I very rarely turn it off, prefering to to turn down the mix knob to dial out the effect (those big knobs come in handy for this). I really enjoy the range from slight shimmer to obscene throb that I can get. I have yet to try a 9v adapter and am using carbon 9 volts right now. It's very good on batteries. I play a wide range of styles and the Supa-Trem covers all the bases as well as any trem pedal on the market (I was unable to try the latest 4 knob incarnation of the Voodoo lab though). Two internal trimpots allow tweaking of the soft mode's relative softness/hardness and the amount of boost. Subtle but useful. I'd love to have a bunch of old amps with funky trem circuits, but for my purposes the Supa-Trem gives me all the trem *mojo* I need.

Reliability : 10
This is one category I feel confident in giving a 10. This is the first Fulltone effect I have owned and had the hood off soon after I got it home. Very well constructed, all switches and pots having a very solid and smooth feel. Of course only time will tell, but there is no other pedal on the market I would trust more than this one.

Customer support and stompboxes aren't two things I've ever had to associate and let's hope I can keep it that way. Never dealt with Mike but I am confident he would back up his product. Just take a look inside one of his pedals.

I have been playing for 25+ years and play a wide range of styles. I don't like the lost or stolen question as I have never had either happen to a pedal and I'd like to keep it that way (well there is that script logo Phase 90 I loaned out 15 years ago I never got back). I really don't think you can do better with an outboard trem pedal. I looked at the Demeter, the Guyatone tube model, and the older version of the Voodoo Labs trem. You will have to decide if the price is right depending on how important trem is to you. The Supa-Trem has enabled the trem junkie inside me. Until I find some mint Magnatone trem at a yard sale, the Supa-trem will be THE trem for me.

I play an american deluxe strat. play mostly instro surf music, a la, the mermen. This thing is an amazing pedal. actually it's more of an instrument. I love the fact that the light modulates to the tempo, just like the DLS chorus btw, the way that you can switch between hard/soft trem, and fast/slow in tempo. really makes me sound slick. I tried the voodoo lab trem, it's a nice pedal, but just doesn' have the same features that make the fulltone a winner.
